Exciting Sneak Peek: What to Expect from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 35 Cast

0

Exciting news for “Dancing with the Stars” fans as we have the latest update on the casting for season 35!

In a recent interview at the 51st Gracie Awards in Beverly Hills, executive producer and casting director Deena Katz shared insights with On The Red Carpet. The show was honored with the award for best competition series at the event.

Katz expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I’m thrilled with the lineup we’re putting together this year. I’m ahead of schedule, already two-thirds of the way through the casting process,” she revealed to On The Red Carpet.

So far, three celebrities are confirmed to grace the dance floor: Maura Higgins from “Love Island,” Ciara Miller of “Summer House,” and Jackson Olson from the Savannah Bananas.

Also present at the Gracie Awards were Danielle Fishel and Jordan Chiles, who both competed in season 34. Fishel actively participated in gathering more details about the upcoming season!

“Is it gonna be a bigger cast or a smaller cast than last year,” Fishel asked of Katz.

“It’s probably gonna be about the same,” Katz said.

“That’s all that matters,” joked Chiles.

When we asked Katz to elaborate or maybe hint at other stars joining the cast, she only gave us this: “It’s coming together great. I will say, if it’s a hint at all… I feel like one of the many reasons why the show is doing as well is it’s become very competitive. I feel like it’s a little bit more like a sporting event than it used to be. So you could imagine there’s going to be people that, the competition keeps raising.”

So does that mean there will be more sports stars next season? We’ll be thinking about the possibilities until the entire cast is revealed September 2 on “Good Morning America.”

Season 35 of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres later this year on ABC and Disney+.

Fishel and Chiles told On The Red Carpet that being at the Gracie Awards to celebrate the show was a thrill.

“The fact that it ended up being a groundbreaking season just feels like, I don’t know, it’s just everything happened the way it was supposed to. And I’m so honored to have been a part of such an incredible group of women, both in front of the camera and behind the camera,” said Fishel.

“We get to tell our stories not just within our own craft that we came onto the show with, but also in a different platform, whether it was dancing, whether it was behind the scenes or in front of the cameras we just got to enjoy each other and i think that’s the biggest thing.”

The Gracie Awards are handed out by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation and highlight women’s voices, stories and achievements across television and other types of media.

ABC News, Hulu, ESPN, National Geographic and Disney Branded Television are among the winners from the Walt Disney Company.

“Paradise,” Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” “Harlem Ice,” The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl,” “Nightline,” “20/20,” “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,” “The Tamron Hall Show and “Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything” took home awards along with “Dancing with the Stars.”

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of this ABC station.

Dodgers Secure Victory Over Padres, Delivering Mason Miller’s First Defeat with Late Ninth-Inning Run

0

SAN DIEGO –– On Tuesday night, Mason Miller found his control slipping just a bit too much.

His pitches veered off course, as did his throw to first base.

In a tense ninth inning at Petco Park with the score tied between the Dodgers and Padres, the renowned Padres closer ended up unraveling, marking his first blown save of the season.

The trouble began when he threw a full-count slider to Max Muncy. Originally ruled a third strike, the call was reversed to a walk after Muncy successfully challenged using the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system.

Subsequently, Alex Call entered the game to run for Muncy. As Call made a break from first, Miller attempted a pick-off, but his throw went astray.

Instead of quelling the Dodgers’ threat, Miller’s errant throw was too hard and too wide. It deflected off the outstretched glove of first baseman Ty France. It trickled all the way up the right field line as Call turned on the jets and raced safely to third.

In the Dodgers’ eventual 5-4 win, Andy Pages would bring Call home with a sacrifice fly at the end of an epic nine-pitch battle.

It wasn’t the prettiest turn of events. But the Dodgers certainly didn’t mind.

Instead, this important early-season rivalry series is now tied at one game apiece. For the first time this year, Miller failed to preserve a Padres lead or tied score.

The ninth-inning score marked only the third run he has allowed all season.

For a Dodgers team that has struggled to capitalize on situational opportunities, it couldn’t have come at a more opportune time.

Even after Miller’s miscue, the victory still required some heroics from Pages, who fell into an 0-2 hole against Miller before fighting off a pair of 100 mph fastballs and two more sliders on the edge of the strike zone. Finally, on pitch No. 9, he shot a line drive to right field that was just deep enough for Call to beat a relay play to the plate; his toe tapping the dish a split-second before the tag arrived.

What it means

The Dodgers are back in first place for now, regaining the NL West lead they surrendered after getting shut out on Monday night.

They have also set up a series rubber-match on Wednesday, when Shohei Ohtani will take the mound.

Tuesday was the first time in Miller’s career that he suffered a losing decision. In the bottom of the ninth, Dodgers reliever Will Klein also got his first career save, called upon after the Dodgers exhausted their higher-leverage options –– Alex Vesia, Blake Treinen and Tanner Scott –– earlier in the night.

Who’s hot

Freddie Freeman hadn’t been lately, with either his swing or his health.

Not only did the first baseman enter Tuesday in an 0-for-16 slump, but manager Dave Roberts said he had been under the weather lately, too, looking “a little bit tired” as he tried to rebound at the plate.

On Tuesday, it happened, with Freeman emerging from his struggles with a pair of home runs that kept the Dodgers in the game early, marking the 23rd multi-homer game of his career.

His first one was an opposite-field drive that just cleared the short wall in left field for two runs in the first. The next was a more towering shot, tying the game at 4-4 in the sixth with a solo blast to right.

Not only did the two long balls help end a power drought for Freeman –– who had just one home run in his previous 35 games –– but it marked his first game with multiple extra-base hits since April 6.

Who’s not

Emmet Sheehan became the first Dodgers pitcher tasked with pitching on only four days’ rest this year.

In a four-inning, four-run start that ended with an early hook after just 67 pitches, it did not go well.

After Freeman’s blast gave the Dodgers an early lead, Sheehan immediately squandered it when Manny Machado took him deep for a two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning. Sheehan gave up another two-run homer in the third to Miguel Andujar, marking the fourth time in nine outings this year he has failed to hold an opponent to no more than three runs.

It could’ve been worse too, had a fly ball from Ty France in the fourth not hopped over the wall for a ground-rule double; which held baserunner Jackson Merrill up at third.

Sheehan’s ERA is now 4.93, as his search for consistency this year continues to drag on.

Up next

Shohei Ohtani (3-2, 0.82 ERA) will return to two-way duties on Wednesday, set to hit and pitch when the Dodgers face breakout right-hander Randy Vásquez (5-1, 2.68 ERA) in the series finale.

Michelle Obama Attributes ‘Anger’ Behind Husband’s Election Victory to Current MAGA Movement Dynamics

0

Michelle Obama has reflected on the political climate in the United States, suggesting that the wave of dissatisfaction that propelled her husband, Barack Obama, into the presidency is the same force that brought Donald Trump to power. Her insights came during a conversation on the podcast “Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso,” where she was asked to compare the public sentiment during Trump’s election victory to that during her husband’s campaign.

In her response, the former First Lady acknowledged her disappointment with the election outcome but expressed understanding for the electorate’s desire for change and a fresh face in leadership. “People were looking for something different,” she observed, noting that the quest for change transcends political affiliations.

Michelle Obama, now 62, elaborated on the underlying frustrations felt by many Americans. She highlighted a growing sense of insecurity among citizens, who increasingly find it difficult to secure basic necessities despite their efforts. “More Americans had more of the basics, and that’s becoming less and less,” she remarked, pointing out that this struggle affects people across all demographics — regardless of race, color, or geographic location, whether in bustling cities or rural farmlands.

She further explained that such widespread discontent leads to anger and a tendency to seek out scapegoats, often misplacing blame away from those truly responsible for the issues at hand. “It makes you susceptible to find someone to blame other than the people who are rightfully a part of the problem,” she asserted, shedding light on the complex emotional landscape that influences voter behavior.

‘That makes you angry, and it makes you susceptible to find someone to blame other than the people who are rightfully a part of the problem.

‘And that’s true, that anger. I can’t look some people in the face and tell them, you have no right to be angry or to do something that maybe is against your own interest.

‘That’s human nature. Many of the people who voted for my husband twice and I know that that’s how they feel. It’s like, this isn’t about anything other than, we need something different.’

When asked about those who voted for her husband and Trump she added: ‘You can’t just pigeonhole them and say, you just don’t care and you’re racist, or whatever you’re thinking.’

Barack was just 47 when he entered the White House and 55 when he left – younger than most of his predecessors – and has remained one of the most active ex-presidents in modern memory.

He admitted recently that Michelle wants him to step back from public life so the couple can enjoy their later years together.

The former commander-in-chief said Trump’s return to the White House is the reason he cannot simply walk away, and that his inability to do so has become a source of friction at home.

‘It does create genuine tension in our household, and it frustrates her,’ Obama told The New Yorker. ‘I’m more forgiving of it, I understand why people feel that way.’

He also pushed back against critics who say he isn’t doing enough, arguing his continued involvement is without precedent.

‘No other ex-president was the main surrogate for the party for four election cycles after they left office,’ he said.

As for the public clamor for him to do still more, Obama was philosophical: ‘The fact that people want me to be doing more is a good sign.’

Just last month, Obama was the top national figure supporting the Virginia amendment to gerrymander the state’s congressional maps and give a number of currently GOP-controlled seats to Democrats.

He also recently appeared alongside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during a visit to a childcare center.

Obama left a group of children in fits of giggles as he pulled a stunt on them during a visit to a childcare center in New York in April.

He and Mayor Mamdani read to preschoolers and led a sing-along during the visit, and did not take questions after their appearance.

Fugitive Father Arrested in Mexico: Man Charged with Partner’s Murder Captured After Two-Year Manhunt with Kids

Authorities have successfully located two missing children from California in Mexico, almost two years after their father allegedly took them following the tragic death of their mother.

On Tuesday, the FBI reported the arrest of Camron Lee, aged 40, in Primo Tapia, Baja California, Mexico. He is suspected of being involved in the 2024 death of his partner, Angelica Bravo.

The children, Athena Lee, aged 5, and Mateo Lee, aged 4, were found safe during the operation in Mexico, according to officials.

This development comes after a dedicated search by authorities that spanned nearly six months, aiming to locate both the children and Camron Lee.

In what has been a prolonged and concerning case, the authorities confirmed the safe recovery of the two California children, who vanished following the tragic incident involving their mother.

The Sacramento Police Department responded to a residence in July 2024, where officers later found Bravo dead inside the home.

Lee was charged with murder and four counts of possession of an assault weapon.

A federal arrest warrant was later issued in August 2024 for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution to help locate and apprehend Lee and recover the children, who had not been seen since their mother was murdered.

In December 2025, the FBI announced rewards for information leading to Lee’s arrest and conviction, as well as the recovery of the children. The bilingual campaign was distributed through media outlets and social media platforms across North America.

The FBI said Tuesday that a tip from the public ultimately led to Lee’s arrest.

“Today’s announcement highlights the impact of the FBI’s reward program,” FBI Sacramento Special Agent in Charge Sid Patel said in a statement. “A single tip brought a fugitive to justice for his alleged crime and reunited a family.”

Sacramento Police Department Chief Zachary Bales said the arrest marked another step toward justice in Bravo’s death.

“This case sends a clear message that violence will not be tolerated in our community, and those who harm others will be pursued with determination and resolve,” Bales said. “Our thoughts remain with Ms. Bravo’s family and loved ones, and we hope this development brings them a measure of solace as they continue to carry this profound loss.”

Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho confirmed Lee would face murder charges.

“This arrest is a powerful reminder that no matter how much time passes, our resolve to pursue justice and protect our community never fades,” Ho said.

Officials said the children were reunited with their maternal grandmother.

The FBI said authorities in Mexico, along with multiple U.S. and international agencies, assisted in locating and apprehending Lee.

WHO Expresses Urgent Concern Over Rapidly Escalating Ebola Outbreak

0

In brief

  • WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he was “deeply concerned about the scale and speed of the epidemic”.
  • The recent cases are concentrated in difficult-to-access areas hit by long-running conflicts where resources are limited.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed significant concern over the rapid and extensive Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has claimed over 130 lives. The organization has cautioned that this crisis could persist for an extended period.

Throughout the past 50 years, Ebola has resulted in the deaths of more than 15,000 individuals across Africa. In response to the current surge of this highly contagious hemorrhagic fever, the United Nations health agency has declared it an international health emergency.

This outbreak marks the 17th occurrence of Ebola in the country, which has a population exceeding 100 million. Unfortunately, there is currently no vaccine or therapeutic treatment available for the Bundibugyo strain responsible for the ongoing epidemic.

In Goma, a city in eastern Congo, workers were observed using shovels to clear out a deserted Ebola treatment center in preparation for handling the outbreak.

Philippe Jamaica, overseeing the efforts, stated, “We are in the process of spreading sand and readying the site to aid those affected by the Ebola virus disease.”

Tonnes of emergency medical supplies, including infection prevention kits and tents, as well as experts have arrived in recent days, local WHO footage showed.

With the recent cases largely concentrated in difficult-to-access areas hit by long-running conflicts, few samples have been laboratory-tested and figures are based mostly on suspected cases.

Congolese Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba told reporters on Tuesday that there had been 136 deaths suspected to be linked to Ebola and about 543 suspected cases, calling for international aid to help combat the spread.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he was “deeply concerned about the scale and speed of the epidemic” while the agency’s representative in the DRC said a vaccine candidate called Ervebo was being considered.

But Anne Ancia said it would likely take at least two months to be available, adding: “I don’t think that in two months we will be done with this outbreak”.

‘We bury people without gloves or protection’

At the hospital in Rwampara in northeastern Ituri province, the epicentre of the outbreak near the border with Uganda and South Sudan, the response was slow, despite the surge in cases.

A simple strip of plastic marked off the site reserved for receiving patients.

“We dig graves and bury people who died without gloves or any protection. We’re so exposed,” Salama Bamunoba, from a local youth organisation, told AFP.

“We’re already at about 100 cases. We didn’t have an appropriate place to do triage and isolate suspected cases” until Monday, said one local hospital official.

Kamba told reporters that equipment was being delivered. “We have everything healthcare providers will need,” he added.

The DRC’s deadliest Ebola outbreak, between 2018 and 2020, claimed nearly 2,300 lives from 3,500 cases.

The east is a gold-mining hub with people regularly crisscrossing the region, and it has been plagued by clashes between local militias for years.

The virus has already spread into neighbouring provinces, as well as beyond the DRC’s borders into Uganda.

Limited knowledge of Bundibugyo strain

Vaccines are only available for the Zaire strain of the disease, which has caused the biggest recorded outbreaks.

The Bundibugyo strain has previously been responsible for outbreaks in Uganda in 2007 and in the DRC in 2012. The mortality rate was 30 to 50 per cent.

Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi on Tuesday urged citizens to keep “calm” and take precautions, the presidency said on X.

Suspected cases have been reported in the commercial hub of Butembo in North Kivu province, some 200 kilometres from the epidemic’s ground zero, Kamba said.

Another case has been recorded in Goma, the North Kivu provincial capital, which was seized by M23 fighters in January last year.

Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018, appealed to the Rwanda-backed group to reopen the city’s airport to help combat the outbreak.

Aid organisations are struggling with a drop in international aid, particularly from the United States since Donald Trump’s second term.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington had released around $18 million in aid to combat Ebola in the DRC, after sweeping US aid cuts last year, and claimed the WHO had been “a little late” identifying the outbreak.

US screening air passengers

The government in neighbouring Uganda said two Ebola cases — one infection and one death — had been recorded there, involving Congolese nationals who crossed the border.

Germany meanwhile said on Tuesday it was readying to receive and treat a US citizen who has contracted the virus — a doctor from an American Christian NGO.

The United States announced it was screening air passengers from outbreak-hit areas and temporarily suspending visa services.

It also urged citizens to avoid travel to the DRC, South Sudan and Uganda, and to reconsider travel to Rwanda.

Australia has a ‘do not travel’ warning in place for the DRC and South Sudan though not for Uganda, where it urges Australian travellers to ‘exercise a high degree of caution’.

Rubio said that the United States was hoping to open around 50 clinics to treat Ebola in the DRC.

“It’s a little tough to get to because it’s in a rural area… and hard-to-get-to place in a war-torn country, unfortunately,” Rubio said.

“We’re going to lean into that pretty heavy.”

Trump in one of his first acts on returning to office last year set in motion a US withdrawal from the WHO, which he attacked bitterly over its response to Covid.

Four Standing Exercises to Enhance Core Strength More Effectively Than Crunches for Those Over 60

These exercises are designed to enhance core stability, enabling you to handle everyday activities with greater ease and confidence.

For those aiming to sport a six-pack this summer, incorporating crunches into your abdominal routine is a tried-and-true method to achieve that goal. Crunches specifically target the abdominal muscles, enhancing core tension and building strength in those areas. However, as you age, especially past 60, the repetitive motion of crunches can exert excessive pressure on your spine, and incorrect technique might lead to neck discomfort.

To address these concerns, we consulted with Adam Dobrez, a seasoned personal trainer and proprietor of Red Fox Gym. Dobrez suggests four alternative exercises that bypass floor work and can accelerate core development beyond what traditional crunches offer, especially for those over 60. His expertise lies in assisting older adults in strengthening their bodies and enhancing their overall health.

According to Dobrez, “Core exercises for those over 60 should focus on balance, posture, and stability, incorporating movements that mimic real-life activities, rather than just inducing a muscle burn. While traditional crunches work on the superficial abdominal muscles, they don’t contribute significantly to core improvement in a manner beneficial for older adults’ daily activities. Moreover, crunches can be uncomfortable, particularly for seniors dealing with neck pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, or lower back issues, as they place undue stress on the lower back, neck, and hips.”

“Instead of just ‘feeling the burn,’ core exercises after 60 should promote balance, posture, stability, and use everyday real-life movements,” explains Dobrez. “Traditional crunches target surface-level abdominal muscles, but don’t help with improving the core in a way that older adults need for daily life. Traditional crunches can also be uncomfortable for older adults—especially if they’re experiencing neck pain, stiffness, limited mobility, or lower back issues. They put unnecessary strain on the lower back, neck, and hips.”

Dobrez shares four exercises that don’t require getting on the floor. In fact, he says they help build solid core strength while prepping you to tackle everyday life.

“They go beyond the surface and target deep abdominal muscles. They are also safer and more sustainable long-term, because they are easier to scale based on someone’s fitness level,” Dobrez notes.

Cable Rows

“Cable rows are great for strengthening the upper back and core. This can help any older adults who have developed poor posture because this exercise helps to rebuild the muscles that support the spine,” Dobrez points out.

  1. Set a cable handle to chest height.
  2. Grab the handle, take a step back, and stand facing the cable.
  3. Start the movement by pulling your shoulder blades toward your midline and row without twisting your torso.
  4. Use the control to return to the start position.

Step-Ups

“Step-ups build the core using balance and controlled movement. They also mimic real-life activities, strengthening the core, hip, and legs, which is necessary for stability,” Dobrez explains.

  1. Begin by standing tall, facing a low step, workout bench, or sturdy chair.
  2. Place your left foot firmly onto the surface, keeping your core engaged and chest tall.
  3. Press through your left heel to lift your body until your left leg is straight and you’re standing on the surface.
  4. Use control to lower back to the start position.
  5. Repeat on the other side.

Dead Bugs

“Dead bugs are one of the safest ways to retrain your core without putting too much strain on the spine. This exercise will help improve coordination between the core and your limbs,” Dobrez tells us.

  1. Lie flat on your back, arms extended toward the ceiling, and knees lifted in a tabletop position.
  2. Press your back into the mattress and engage your core.
  3. Lower one arm and the opposite leg.
  4. Return to the start position.
  5. Repeat on the other side and continue to alternate.

Farmer’s Carry

“The farmer’s carry requires carrying weights while walking, which forces the core to stabilize your body. It is also helpful for posture and coordination, which decline with age,” Dobrez notes.

  1. Hold a heavy dumbbell or kettlebell—50% of your body weight—in each hand at your sides.
  2. Start walking forward, keeping your torso still.

Dave Portnoy’s Remarks Spark Knicks’ Electrifying Comeback Against Cavaliers

0

Did Cleveland Cavaliers supporters witness their team’s fourth-quarter collapse due to Dave Portnoy’s ill-timed social media post? The Cavaliers’ commanding lead vanished as the New York Knicks surged ahead in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.

The turning point appeared to happen when Barstool Sports founder, Dave Portnoy, sent a seemingly jinxing message on X. He sarcastically advised Knicks fans to “keep your head up” while Cleveland was leading comfortably.

“As someone with experience winning Eastern Conference finals, I want to tell Knicks fans not to lose hope,” Portnoy, a devoted Boston Celtics fan, wrote. “It looked like a rust game to me. You might have been overconfident after beating a weak Sixers team. It’s a long series. Stay positive. It won’t be easy, but you can still pull through. Keep your chin up.”

Following his post, the Knicks embarked on a remarkable comeback, erasing a 22-point deficit in the last eight minutes and ultimately triumphing in overtime with a 115-104 victory.

Portnoy later acknowledged the Knicks’ dramatic rally, noting that they had gone on an 18-1 run “since this tweet, by the way.”

“I’d also like to point that many people would delete the below tweet, but that is not my style. I will own it. Leaders lead. Credit to me for being accountable,” Portnoy later wrote on X.

The Knicks’ miracle kicked off the team’s second consecutive trip to the conference finals after not having reached the series since 2000.

Dating back to the 1996-97 season, the Knicks were 0-277 when they trailed by at least 22 points in the fourth quarter of a regular season or playoff game prior to Tuesday’s Game 1 win.

Jalen Brunson finished the game with 38 points as he helped lift the Knicks to victory and a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Undergoes Surgery, Faces Extended Recovery Period

0

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will be continuing his post-surgery rehabilitation from behind bars, following a probation violation that led to his incarceration.

According to court records obtained by the Daily Mail, Rice was ordered to serve a 30-day jail sentence after testing positive for marijuana, thereby breaching the conditions of his probation.

This legal repercussion stems from Rice’s involvement in a reckless driving incident in 2024, which resulted in a multi-car collision on a Dallas highway.

Shortly after these developments, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Rice had undergone knee surgery just a week prior, aimed at removing ‘loose debris’ causing inflammation.

Due to this procedure, Rice is expected to be out of action for approximately two months during his recovery, as detailed by Schefter.

His recovery will be done in jail after he violated the five-year probation he was handed due to his reckless driving.

Rice will be released from jail on June 16, meaning he would miss the Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp as well as their OTAs.

The receiver was renting a Lamborghini sport utility vehicle authorities said was one of two speeding sports cars that caused a chain-reaction crash on a Dallas highway in May of 2024.

He pled guilty to third-degree felony charges last July. Among the stipulations of his probation included an order for Rice to ‘avoid injurious and vicious habits, and do not use marijuana, narcotics, dangerous drugs, inhalants or prescription medication without first obtaining prescription for said substances from licensed physician.’

The NFL star was estimated to be speeding at 119mph before the collision, which resulted in several injuries for other motorists and passengers.

The occupants of the Lamborghini and the other speeding vehicle – a Corvette – left without checking on the drivers and passengers in the other four cars involved in the collision.

A spokesman for the rental company, The Classic Lifestyle, said the Lamborghini rents for about $1,750 a day and is worth about $250,000.

Police said the Corvette and Lamborghini were speeding in the far-left lane of North Central Expressway when they lost control.

The Lamborghini went onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, causing a chain-reaction collision. Four people in the other vehicles were treated for minor injuries.

In a related lawsuit, the NFL star agreed to pay $1million to a plaintiff who sued him over the 2024 crash, according to court documents obtained by Daily Mail.

He was also forced to pay $75,000 in pre-judgement interest and $12,000 in plaintiff attorney fees.

Rice started the 2025 season with a six-game suspension from the NFL due to his involvement in that Dallas car accident.

Addressing the incident and subsequent sentence last year, Rice had appeared to show remorse for his actions.

Speaking on the multi-car crash upon returning to Chiefs camp last summer, he insisted that he had learned his lesson from the incident.

He recently explained to reporters: ‘I’ve completely changed. You have to learn from things like that. I’ve learned and taken advantage of being able to learn from something like that.’

‘I feel 100%. I’m excited to be back out here with the guys. Just kind of basically where I left off at,’ he added when asked about his comeback from injury.

‘The only thing is get back on the field and continue to have fun doing what I do.’

However, less than a year later, the wide receiver has landed himself in hot water yet again.

Rice, a member of the Super Bowl LVIII-winning Chiefs team, is from the Dallas area. He played for Southern Methodist University and grew up in the Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills.

Earlier this year, Rice filed more legal woes when Dacoda Jones, the mother of his children, filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of repeatedly assaulting her throughout their relationship, even when she was pregnant.

Jones alleged in a lawsuit filed in February that the Super Bowl winner had previously grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, thrown, scratched, hit and headbutted her.

The mother of Rice’s two children claimed that he strangled her at their home in Texas in December 2023 ‘following an escalation in violent behavior.’

The lawsuit claimed that the wide receiver then continued to assault her until they eventually split in July 2025.

Rice was also accused in the complaint of throwing objects, destroying property, punching walls and breaking furniture, as well as locking Jones out in the middle of the night. It was claimed that a number of these incidents took place while Jones was pregnant.

As a result of the alleged abuse, Jones claimed she has endured multiple physical injuries, as well as ‘significant pain and suffering.’

However, following an investigation into the allegations, the NFL concluded that Rice ‘has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy’ and that he would not face any disciplinary action.

Ciara and Russell Wilson Throw Memorable 12th Birthday Bash for Future

Ciara and Russell Wilson are marking a significant milestone in their family as they celebrate the birthday of their eldest son, Future Zahir.

On Tuesday, former Virginia teacher Abby Zwerner shared her testimony about a 6-year-old student who shot her in a first-grade classroom. She detailed his “defiant” and concerning behavior in the days and hours before the incident.

“I noticed the student watching me,” she recounted. “I turned to look, and the gun was aimed directly at me. Then, I was shot.”

Zwerner spoke during the criminal proceedings in Newport News against Ebony Parker, the former assistant principal at Richneck Elementary School. Parker faces eight felony charges of child neglect related to the January 6, 2023, shooting and has entered a plea of not guilty.

In her emotional account, Zwerner described a series of alarming signs involving the student, referred to in court as “JT,” who eventually drew a handgun and fired at her while other students were present in the room.

She told jurors the student had already displayed aggressive behavior earlier that week, including an incident in which he grabbed and smashed her cellphone during reading-group time.

Zwerner testified the child appeared “very defiant” before breaking the phone and had what she described as a “challenging face.”

The student was absent the following day but returned to school on Jan. 6, the day of the shooting.

Zwerner testified that throughout the morning she became increasingly concerned about his behavior. She said the child seemed “off already that day” and appeared “violent.”

At lunch, Zwerner testified she observed the student staring intensely at her and a security officer in the cafeteria, which she said stood out to her as unusual behavior.

“I witnessed the student staring her down, very focused on her,” Zwerner testified.

She also told jurors she later saw the child outside at recess wearing an oversized jacket with both hands kept inside his pockets the entire time.

Prosecutors repeatedly questioned Zwerner about whether she relayed concerns to school administrators, including Parker.

Much of Tuesday’s testimony centered on what information Zwerner shared with administration before the shooting.

At several points, defense attorneys objected on hearsay grounds as prosecutors attempted to introduce testimony about reports that the student may have had a gun.

The judge allowed much of the testimony, ruling the statements were not being offered to prove the child had a firearm, but rather to establish what school officials had been told and what they knew before the shooting occurred.

Prosecutors allege Parker ignored repeated warnings from staff members that the student could be armed and failed to take action to protect students and employees.

Defense attorneys, meanwhile, sought to shift responsibility during cross-examination by questioning why Zwerner herself did not remove the child from the classroom or call police after becoming concerned he may have had a gun.

Attorney James Ellenson repeatedly pressed Zwerner on whether she personally separated the student from classmates or prevented him from returning to the classroom after recess.

“You allowed him to return to your classroom with other students, is that correct?” Ellenson asked.

“Yes,” Zwerner responded.

Ellenson also asked whether the “first responsibility to protect the students in the classroom” belonged to her as the teacher. Zwerner agreed.

When pressed about what actions she personally took to protect students, Zwerner answered: “I trusted my colleagues.”

Zwerner later recounted the moment the shooting happened.

She testified she was leading a small-group lesson when she saw the child point a gun directly at her.

The bullet traveled through her left hand and into her chest, she said.

Zwerner testified several students were nearby at the time of the shooting, including children sitting close to the student.

After being shot, she said her immediate concern was getting students safely out of the classroom.

“I hoped the children were getting out of the classroom,” she said.

Prosecutors brought one felony count for each of the eight bullets loaded in the gun. If convicted, Parker could face up to five years in prison on each count.

The charges allege Parker “did commit a willful act or omission in the care of such students, in a manner so gross, wanton and culpable as to show a reckless disregard for human life,” according to court documents.
