Enhance Balance Over 60: 4 Wall Exercises That Outpace Yoga

Enhancing your balance should be an essential goal in your fitness routine.

Focusing on balance improvement becomes increasingly crucial as we age. A lack of balance can easily lead to falls and injuries. Suffering a fracture, particularly after turning 60, can have long-lasting impacts. Serious fractures, such as those involving the hip, can significantly affect one’s independence, often resulting in prolonged mobility issues and persistent pain.

To reduce the risk of falls and injuries, it is important to work on enhancing your balance. We have compiled four effective wall exercises that could improve your balance more efficiently than yoga for those over 60.

“One of the primary obstacles to improving balance for individuals over 60 is the fear of falling. This fear can cause people to tense up, hold their breath, overly contract their muscles, and move hesitantly. Ironically, this protective response can actually worsen balance,” explains Doug Bertram, M.S., L.Ac., MTCM, the Founder and CEO of Structural Elements®, an orthopedic wellness brand. Bertram created the (SE)® Treatment to evaluate and treat the body through its connective structure, helping to restore balance to the system rather than merely treating the symptoms.

“One of the biggest barriers to improving balance after 60 is fear of falling. When people feel unsafe, they stiffen. They hold their breath, over-contract their muscles, and move with hesitation. This protective strategy actually makes balance worse,” explains Doug Bertram, M.S., L.Ac., MTCM, Founder & CEO of orthopedic wellness brand Structural Elements®. Bertram developed the (SE)® Treatment as a means to assess and treat the body through its connective framework, helping to rebalance the system rather than just addressing symptoms.

The wall provides a safe element where individuals can test their balance without feeling threatened.

“That sense of security allows the nervous system to relax and respond more efficiently,” Bertram adds. “From a clinical perspective, the wall also offers immediate feedback. If the pelvis drifts, the shoulders round, or the head moves forward, the body can sense that change instantly. This enhances proprioception, which is our ability to know where we are in space.”

Dr. Milica McDowell, Doctor of Physical Therapy, AVP of Education, Author, Exercise Physiologist at US Physical Therapy with more than 20 years of experience in sports/orthopedics, agrees that the wall can be an incredibly productive tool for those looking to build better balance with age.

“Well-supported exercises can be a great way to reduce the stress of traditional balance of exercise exercises, making them safer in creating a place where everyone can participate and then eventually progress up to removing the wall,” she says.

Below are four wall exercises to add to your routine.

Wall Sit

“The wall sit is an excellent starting point because it builds endurance in the quadriceps, glutes, and deep core muscles,” Bertram explains. “Balance is not just about the nervous system; it is about having the strength to maintain posture under load. If the legs fatigue quickly, the body loses its ability to stabilize.”

  1. Stand tall with your back pressed against a wall.
  2. Slide down until your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle as if you’re sitting in a chair.

Single-Leg Stand

“The single-leg stand with light fingertip contact on the wall directly trains one of the most important balance skills we have: the ability to control our center of mass over a single point of support,” Bertram explains. “Since every step we take is essentially a single-leg balance exercise, this movement has immediate real-world relevance.”

  1. Stand tall on a flat surface with your feet hip-width apart and arms at your sides.
  2. Shift your body weight onto your left foot.
  3. Lift your right foot off the ground.
  4. Activate your core while keeping your shoulders stacked over your ribs and your hips level.
  5. The time begins once your leg comes off the floor and stops when your foot touches the ground.
  6. Hold the single-leg balance with your eyes closed.
  7. Repeat on the other side.

Wall Angels

“Wall angels reinforce thoracic mobility, shoulder positioning, and postural awareness,” Bertram tells us. “Many balance problems begin higher up the chain. If the head drifts forward and the rib cage collapses, the body’s center of gravity shifts and stability becomes much harder to maintain.”

  1. Stand tall with your back pressed against a wall, your elbows bent to 90 degrees, and the backs of your hands against the wall.
  2. Slowly reach your arms overhead while pressing your arms into the wall and keeping your core engaged throughout.
  3. Lower your arms.

Wall March

“The wall march teaches the body to transfer weight from one leg to the other while maintaining upright posture. This mimics gait mechanics and challenges the hip stabilizers that are essential for preventing falls,” Bertram tells us.

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, facing a wall at arm’s length.
  2. Place your hands flat on the surface at shoulder level.
  3. Walk your feet back so you assume a standing plank position.
  4. Activate your core and press your palms into the wall.
  5. Lift one knee up to your chest.
  6. Lower, and then lift the other knee up toward your chest in a marching fashion.

Chelsea Handler Criticizes Spencer Pratt’s Bid for LA Mayor: What You Need to Know

0

Chelsea Handler has taken a strong stance against Spencer Pratt’s potential political career, likening him to former President Donald Trump in a candid video shared on social media.

The comedian, who is 51 years old, cautioned her audience about considering the former ‘The Hills’ star, 42, as a suitable candidate for Los Angeles mayor. Handler emphasized that his background as a reality TV personality does not equate to political experience.

“If you’re watching this, remember that a straight, white male who gained fame from reality TV and lacks any government experience should not be viewed as a serious political contender,” Handler stated in an Instagram video she posted on Friday.

She continued, “Have we learned anything yet? The standards couldn’t be lower, and it’s time to raise the bar.”

In the video, Handler is seen enjoying a drink made from her own canned Vodka Lemonade, a product she introduced in collaboration with the beverage company Owl’s Brew.

Pratt, who has been gaining momentum in the race, quickly hit back at the clip, sharing a video of comedian Shane Gillis roasting Handler by reminding fans that she attended a dinner at convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s home.

‘Most of you have probably never heard of Chelsea Handler, so here’s an introduction!’ he wrote in a caption of the clip, which he posted on X.

Gillis and Handler traded barbs during Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart on Sunday.

‘Speaking of tossing tiny shrimp into a child’s mouth, Chelsea Handler went to dinner at Jeffrey Epstein’s house in 2010,’ he said, to groans from the live audience in Los Angeles.

Gillis had been homing in on Handler’s admission in 2021 that she attended a dinner party at the disgraced financier’s Manhattan townhouse an unknown number of years ago.

‘Look it up, there’s articles. It wasn’t like a big party, there were like seven people there. It was like Prince Andrew and Woody Allen were there,’ Gillis continued.

Also in attendance was talk show host Charlie Rose, Katie Couric and Allen’s third wife, Soon-Yi Previn, Handler previously told actor Rob Lowe on his podcast.

Handler said that the dinner party was the only time she ever saw Epstein, who reportedly died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on child sex-trafficking charges.

‘I’ve never been on the private island and I’ve never been on his plane. I’ve met him one time and that was the time,’ she told Lowe.

Marisa Tomei left a number of applause emojis, while actor Henry Winkler commented with fire emojis.

However, others sided with Pratt, with one commentator asking Handler: ‘Do you actually live here, have you driven around LA lately? Do you think we need another Democratic candidate to run our beautiful city? I’m a huge fan Chelsea but come on. They burned our town down man.’

Another wrote, ‘Nothing more tone-deaf than a celebrity living behind gates and armed security telling ordinary people how to vote while families dodge naked addicts on the way to school. Your reality isn’t ours.’

Pratt’s feud with Handler goes back to the late 2000s when she relentlessly tore into him and his wife Heidi Montag on her show Chelsea Lately.

It comes after Pratt shut down allegations that his bid for Los Angeles mayor is being filmed for a reality TV show.

The former MTV star is currently running against rivals Mayor Karen Bass, Councilwoman Nithya Raman, and progressive Christian minister Rae Huang.

TMZ and Deadline claimed that The Hills alum had signed up for an unscripted series to document his campaign for mayor.

Pratt announced he was running for the position in January, one year after his Pacific Palisades home burned down in the deadly Los Angeles wildfires.

However, a spokesperson for Pratt shut down the allegations in a statement to The Wrap on Thursday.

‘This is inaccurate. There is no series in production and cameras have not been following the campaign.’

The spokesperson further stated that Pratt has not signed any contract to film a reality show that follows his run for L.A. mayor. ‘He does not have any signed contract. No contract exists related to this because it isn’t true.’

Pratt also responded to a report that he has been living in a Bel-Air hotel amid his campaign after previously claiming he had been residing inside a trailer after his home burned down last year.

Pratt offered his response on X by penning, ‘Hey guys, why don’t they wanna talk about why I need a hotel in the first place? Karen Bass let my home burn down. Also 6,000 of my neighbors. NBD.’

The former reality star also told TMZ that he has been living at the hotel for safety reasons after receiving death threats amid his bid for mayor.

Earlier this month, Pratt took part in a debate alongside Bass and Raman which resulted in his chances of winning surging afterwards.

And he has also received support from his close friends and other celebrities, including reality star Kristin Cavallari, music producer David Foster, comedian Heather McDonald, and Paris Hilton.

Tragic Turn: Auburn Graduate’s Dream Job Celebration Ends in Fatal Alabama Shooting by Boyfriend’s Father

0

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an Alabama resident has been charged following allegations that he fatally shot his son’s 22-year-old girlfriend two months ago. The victim, a recent graduate from Auburn University, had just embarked on her career journey in interior design.

The young woman, identified as Whitney Harlow Robeson, was originally from Virginia. On March 7, she tragically succumbed to a gunshot wound at a residence on Deer Trail in Trussville, Alabama, situated roughly 15 miles from Birmingham.

Authorities were alerted at around 9:30 p.m., and emergency personnel swiftly transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared deceased a little over an hour later.

Following a thorough investigation, Trussville police have charged Jeffrey Scott Towers, the 54-year-old father of Robeson’s boyfriend, with reckless manslaughter. Public records reveal that both Towers and his son, who also graduated from Auburn, reside at the Deer Trail location.

Court records have not revealed details of the shooting or evidence surrounding the charges against Towers, other than to allege he shot Robeson.

In a statement, Towers’ attorneys John Amari and Dain Stewart called Robeson’s death a “tragic event.”

“We know that the facts will show that Mr. Towers has no criminal history, has been a productive and upstanding citizen for his entire life and is not guilty of these charges,” they wrote.

Robeson’s death was initially reported as accidental to the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office, according to AL.com.

In an online obituary, Robeson’s family revealed she had wanted to work in interior design since her childhood, inspired by shows on HGTV.

After graduating summa cum laude from Auburn’s interior design program, she got a job as a trade consultant for RH, formerly known as Restoration Hardware, doing just that.

She grew up in Richmond, where she had been a lifeguard and a clerk at boutique shops downtown, according to the obituary.

Towers has been freed after posting $30,000 bail. He’s due back in court on July 22.

Demi Moore’s Stunning ‘Cannes Hair’ Steals the Spotlight: Here’s Why It’s Trending

Demi Moore has captured attention at the 79th Cannes Film Festival this year. Making her debut as a member of the festival’s prestigious jury, the actress has consistently turned heads with her stunning red carpet looks.

At the opening ceremony, Moore dazzled in a custom-made white strapless gown by Jacquemus. The dress featured a fitted bodice, a peplum waist, a mermaid skirt, and was adorned with iridescent sequins. For the jury photo-call, she opted for a playful twist with a Fall 2026 Jacquemus creation—a polka-dot dress bursting with colorful, confetti-like dots. This ivory gown boasted a strapless neckline, a sculpted waist, and an eye-catching fluted hem.

Moore continued to impress at the Red Sea Film Foundation’s 2026 Women In Cinema Gala, donning a shimmering halter dress by Gucci. These striking outfits not only highlighted Moore’s impeccable style but also showcased her well-toned arms, sparking widespread admiration online.

Beyond her fashion choices, Moore’s iconic long dark hair has also been a topic of interest. At 63, her sleek tresses have driven a 67% increase in searches for “Demi Moore hair” over the past quarter. With over 12,000 searches last month, the Cannes spotlight has reignited an appreciation for polished, timeless beauty.

Hair and beauty expert Danielle Louise, speaking through the Fresha app, commented on Moore’s influence: “Demi Moore’s hair is undoubtedly sparking interest, but it’s not about everyone adopting the same long hairstyle. The appeal lies in its healthy, glossy look and the intention behind it. That’s what people should be inspired by—the condition, the shine, and the confidence—not necessarily the length or style.”

“Demi Moore’s hair is clearly driving search interest, but the point is not that everyone should grow their hair long and wear it the same way,” hair and beauty expert Danielle Louise said via the Fresha app. “The reason her look works is because it feels healthy, glossy, and intentional. That is the part people should take inspiration from: the condition, the shine, and the confidence, not necessarily the exact length or style.”

According to Louise, “Hair can have a huge impact on how fresh someone looks. A color that worked 10 years ago may suddenly feel harsh, and a cut without shape can start to pull the face down rather than lift it. That does not mean everyone needs a drastic change. Often, a gloss, warmer tone, softer layers, face-framing shape, or a professional blow-dry can make a bigger difference than a dramatic transformation.”

The expert added, “The most powerful beauty looks at Cannes are not about hiding age. They are about polish, structure, and confidence. Women like Demi Moore, Jane Fonda, Gillian Anderson, and Joan Collins all show that ageless glamour is not about chasing youth. It is about knowing what suits you and avoiding the beauty choices that can make you feel less like yourself.

“After 40, many people start changing their beauty routine because they feel they should. They go heavier with make-up, darker with hair, stronger with treatments, or more dramatic with styling. But often, the most flattering approach is actually softer, fresher, and more strategic.”

Louise concluded, “The biggest shift in beauty is that women are no longer asking, ‘How do I look younger?’ They are asking, ‘How do I look more like myself, but better?’ That is what Cannes is showing so well. The women standing out are not overdone. They look polished, individual, and comfortable. That is the real lesson. Ageless beauty is not about removing every sign of age. It is about making small, intelligent choices that work with your features rather than against them.”

Cam Schlittler Leads Yankees to Dominant Victory Over Mets in Subway Series Opener

0

Cam Schlittler can now proudly add Queens to the list of places where he has left his mark.

In a bout that saw the New York Mets return to their earlier struggles, the Yankees’ ace made his first Subway Series appearance on Friday night, determined to shift the momentum of his team’s recent slump. The Mets, who had been riding high on a three-game winning streak, found themselves stifled by his commanding performance, ultimately falling 5-2 at Citi Field.

Schlittler’s exceptional effort was pivotal in the Yankees securing only their second victory in seven games. He allowed just one run, a solo homer by Juan Soto, over 6 ⅔ innings. Throughout his outing, he conceded only two hits, walked two batters, and struck out nine, effectively silencing the Mets’ offense.

Throwing a season-high 106 pitches, Schlittler maintained his impressive ERA at 1.35, further cementing his reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the mound.

He threw a season-high 106 pitches, and his ERA remained at 1.35.

Overall, the Mets managed five hits on a night the Yankees received 2 2/3 solid innings in relief from Fernando Cruz and David Bednar.

It was a comedown for the Mets after blasting a season-high five homers a day earlier to complete a three-game sweep of Detroit.

The Mets scored 22 runs in the three games and appeared on track offensively after a deep slumber to complete their last road trip.

Brett Baty singled with two outs in the second against Schlittler for the Mets’ only hit until Soto homered leading off the seventh.

Schlittler had a fourth straight start of allowing one run or less.

In his first underwhelming start of the season, Clay Holmes lasted only 4 ⅓ innings and surrendered four earned runs on seven hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

It was the first time this season Holmes failed to last at least five innings, and he snapped a streak of eight straight starts to begin the season in which he allowed two earned runs or fewer.

Holmes got two outs in the third before allowing consecutive singles to Ben Rice and Aaron Judge.

Holmes got ahead 1-2 in the count to Cody Bellinger, who swung at a curveball below the strike zone and golfed a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. followed with a fourth straight hit against Holmes, an RBI double.

Spencer Jones smashed a 111 mph rocket off Holmes’ right foot for a single to begin the fourth.

Holmes walked Anthony Volpe on three straight pitches before striking out Austin Wells and Trent Grisham.

Rice’s ensuing infield single loaded the bases before Judge was retired on a fly to right.

Chisholm walked in the fifth, prompting manager Carlos Mendoza to replace Holmes with Austin Warren.

After a fielder’s choice moved Chisholm to second, Jones stroked an RBI single to widen the Mets’ deficit to 4-0.

Anthony Volpe followed with a walk before Warren escaped by striking out Wells.

Soto ended the shutout bid by clearing the fence in left-center, leading off the bottom of the seventh for his second homer in as many games.

Soto fell behind 0-2 in the count before smashing a 97 mph four-seam fastball from Schlittler for career homer No. 250.

Schlittler walked Baty with two outs in the seventh and was removed.

Cruz allowed a bunt single to Semien and unloaded a wild pitch, advancing runners to second and third, before retiring A.J. Ewing.

Rice homered leading off the ninth against Craig Kimbrel to extend the Yankees’ lead to 5-1. The blast was Rice’s 14th this season, moving him within two of Judge for the team lead.

Bednar worked a scoreless ninth for the Yankees after Cruz’s perfect eighth.

Bednar walked Soto in the ninth before getting Mark Vientos to ground into a double play.

MJ Melendez’s single extended the inning, and he stole second before Baty singled in the final run.

Michael Carrick Takes the Helm at Manchester United: Four Crucial Steps to Ensure Success

As Michael Carrick took his seat at Carrington on Friday, a knowing smile crossed his face when confronted with what seemed to be football’s most obvious secret.

“My future will be resolved quite soon, we’ve always known that,” said Carrick, who is on the verge of being officially appointed as Manchester United’s head coach on a permanent basis.

With Carrick nearing the official announcement, anticipated before Sunday’s season finale at Old Trafford, Daily Mail Sport explores the challenges the 44-year-old will face this summer and at the start of the next season to ensure his success.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite being a United icon and an underappreciated manager, hasn’t been remembered kindly by history.

The Norwegian manager guided United to second and third-place finishes during his two full seasons, though they were far from the top spot. The 2021 Europa League final loss to Villarreal marked a pivotal moment in his tenure, compounded by the unsettling impact of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford.

Rightly or wrongly, Solskjaer’s time in charge has been boiled down to a story of the caretaker manager who got the full-time gig on the back of an eight-game winning start and an unforgettable Champions League night in Paris before nosediving dramatically. Carrick knows there will inevitably be comparisons, and addressed them ahead of last weekend’s draw at Sunderland.

‘A lot happened before in all sorts of different ways, whether it’s the interim getting the job, not getting the job, whether it’s having success or not having success. So I think the past is the past,’ he said.

Carrick is also aware of the perception of his time in charge at Middlesbrough, where a solid start faded away before he was sacked after two-and-a-half years in June of last year.

While he won’t need reminding that it’s a results business, and winning games of football is the best way to keep his job, Carrick knows that it will be even more imperative to make a solid start next season to avoid any more parallels with Solskjaer.

Solve the midfield jigsaw

Rebuilding in the centre of the pitch this summer will be critical to the club’s success next season. As a former United midfielder himself, Carrick will be acutely aware of that.

He will have to replace Casemiro, who has his Old Trafford farewell on Sunday and then says goodbye for good at Brighton the following weekend. That United have lost three and drawn one of the four Premier League games Casemiro did not start in this season says much about the 34-year-old’s importance.

Manuel Ugarte has hardly featured under Carrick and the Uruguayan is also expected to leave this summer, two years after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in a £50million deal.

At least Carrick has revived Kobbie Mainoo’s career at United to such an extent that the academy graduate is back to his best and has signed a new long-term contract, just four months after asking to go out on loan to Napoli.

It means that United won’t be replacing their entire midfield this summer, although it’s possible they will still end up buying three new players in that department, with around £150m earmarked for a signing in each of the £80m, £40m and £20m brackets.

They are also expected to be in the market for a left back to replace Tyrell Malacia, who will leave as a free agent, a left winger, a back-up goalkeeper and possibly a centre back after it emerged that Matthijs de Ligt will miss the early part of the season due to back surgery.

As well as quality, United will be looking to increase the quantity of players in their squad after qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Clear the decks

Carrick and his United bosses have big decisions to make on several players who face an uncertain future at Old Trafford – not least because getting players out will be important with regards to generating transfer funds and creating extra space in the wage bill.

Although Casemiro, Malacia and Jadon Sancho are definitely going as free agents, and Rasmus Hojlund’s loan at Napoli will automatically become permanent if the Italians qualify for the Champions League (they are three points above the Serie A cut-off with two games left), the situation with some other players is not so clear-cut.

High on the list of priorities is sorting out Marcus Rashford’s future, as talks between United and Barcelona continue. There is a £26m option to buy in Rashford’s loan at the Nou Camp, but Barca are trying to reduce that figure or agree another loan for next season.

Either way, United and Rashford both seem reluctant for the player to return to his boyhood club, who would have to start paying his £315,000-a-week wages again. Both would like to resolve the matter as soon as possible, and there is interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal if the Barca talks fall through.

Andre Onana is also due back from his loan at Trabzonspor, but United have already made it clear to the Cameroon goalkeeper that he doesn’t figure in their plans for next season and should find a new club. Current No 2 keeper Altay Bayindir is also expected to leave after United rejected an offer from Besiktas in January.

Of the other players who could go, Joshua Zirkzee appears to be closest to the door two years after a £36.5m move from Bologna. The Dutchman doesn’t really fit into Carrick’s system and failed to take a rare opportunity at Sunderland last weekend.

Get the best out of Amad and Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo (left) and Amad Diallo are perhaps the only two players not to have improved under Carrick's management

Bryan Mbeumo (left) and Amad Diallo are perhaps the only two players not to have improved under Carrick’s management

Almost all of the squad have improved since Carrick and his backroom team started work in January after United brought an end to Amorim’s troubled reign, but perhaps two exceptions are Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo.

It was suggested the two players were suffering from the after-effects of representing Ivory Coast and Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations over new year before returning in time for Carrick’s first game against Manchester City. But four months on, Diallo and Mbeumo still look short of their best, which has raised some concerns about them.

Diallo was taken off at half-time of the recent win over Brentford, and then made a costly mistake when he was brought off the bench against Liverpool. Mbeumo looked unhappy to be replaced in the Liverpool game, and was then a substitute for last weekend’s draw at Sunderland.

Both are dangerous wide men when they are on form, and were often used on the same flank by Amorim to great effect with Diallo as a right wing-back. Carrick has been very protective of the little Ivorian in recent weeks, but he will need to find a way to get the best out of both players again.

Kelce has echoed the same sentiment in multiple interviews, including on “The Stephen A. Smith” podcast in January 2025.

“I’m enjoying all aspects of life. Me and Taylor are happy,” Kelce said at the time. “I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and that comfort off the field and all the support I could ever ask for in the stadium.”

The athlete added that he and Swift are equally supportive of each other, which has been equally beneficial.

“I think personally, that’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft, focus on being the best version of you,” Kelce continued. “That’s why I wanted to be at the concert, supporting her and being there for her, making sure she feels comfortable and supported in everything she’s doing in life.”

Bruce Springsteen’s Awkward Encounter with Chris Christie: A Cringe-Worthy Moment Unveiled

0

Bruce Springsteen seemingly bypassed former New Jersey governor Chris Christie during his performance at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Thursday night, creating a buzzworthy moment.

The incident unfolded during an encore when Springsteen mingled with the crowd, enthusiastically greeting fans and exchanging high-fives as he made his way along a walkway near the stage.

Amidst the excitement, Christie looked hopeful, anticipating a brief acknowledgment from one of his musical idols in front of the packed arena.

Concert footage captured the moment Christie extended his hand toward Springsteen, only for the rock legend to stride past him without a glance, continuing his fan engagement across the arena.

Undeterred, Christie quickly withdrew his hand and resumed clapping to the beat, trying to brush off the moment with the same rhythm as the music.

The viral clip immediately sparked speculation online over whether the moment was an intentional snub from the famously outspoken rocker, who has spent much of his latest tour attacking President Donald Trump and his administration.

The now-viral clip was captured by sports media personality Mike Ryan, who later wrote that he believed it was inevitable from the moment he spotted Christie standing near the stage.

‘Bruce knew Chris Christie was there,’ Ryan wrote in a lengthy account posted online after the concert.

‘During multiple songs, Bruce would be on the far end of the stage, right in front of Christie, never once acknowledging Christie’s presence.’

Ryan, who said he has seen Springsteen perform roughly three dozen times, claimed the veteran rocker appeared energized during his latest tour as he continues hammering Trump and his administration from the stage.

‘Springsteen’s hatred of the current administration and its policies have rejuvenated him,’ Ryan wrote. ‘He is a man on a mission and he looks and sounds better than he did in 2023.’

According to Ryan, the crowd interaction that led to the awkward moment unfolded during Springsteen’s traditional performance of ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,’ when the singer routinely moves into the audience to shake hands and high-five fans.

Ryan said he realized Springsteen’s return route to the stage would bring him directly past Christie – and suspected the former governor would attempt to interact with him.

‘I knew there’s no way Chris Christie could resist trying to get a high five,’ Ryan wrote.

He added that Springsteen had spent much of the evening blasting an administration Christie once served under.

‘There is no chance in hell Springsteen is going to give someone who used to work for this administration a public high five,’ Ryan wrote.

Ryan also pushed back against online claims that Springsteen had simply stopped greeting everyone at the end of his walk through the crowd.

‘Bruce has just high fived probably 100 people,’ he wrote. ‘It’s as he approaches Christie that Bruce stops.’

Ryan concluded by insisting he had no doubt the moment was intentional.

‘Bruce knew he was there,’ he wrote. ‘Bruce, no doubt in my mind, consciously snubbed him. Bruce is still The Boss.’

Christie himself has long been known as one of Springsteen’s most devoted celebrity fans, frequently attending concerts and publicly discussing his admiration for the singer and the E Street Band.

That history only made the moment more excruciating for viewers watching the clip unfold online.

Springsteen has become increasingly vocal in his criticism of Trump during his latest tour.

Back in March, the singer blasted the Trump White House as a ‘corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless and treasonous administration,’ prompting Trump to lash out at the rock legend by calling him a ‘dried up prune.’

Autonomous Revolutions: Waymo’s Driverless Cars Stir Concerns in Atlanta Neighborhoods

0

Residents of an Atlanta neighborhood have been dealing with more issues from Waymo vehicles than they had anticipated.

In the past few weeks, the northwest Buckhead area of the Georgia city has seen an unusual influx of empty, driverless ride-share cars. This surge seems to be the result of a peculiar routing issue.

One resident from the beleaguered Battleview Drive expressed concerns to WSB-TV, saying, “It’s happening in almost every cul-de-sac around here, so I definitely think there’s a problem.”

Footage captured of the autonomous vehicles reveals them endlessly looping through a cul-de-sac, with multiple cars creating a traffic jam after a resident attempted to prevent them from entering the area.

“I think yesterday morning, we had 50 cars that came through between 6 and 7,” another neighbor told the station.

A third neighbor pointed out that the problem is more than just an irritation.

“We’re families, we have small animals and pets, got kids getting on the bus in the morning and it just doesn’t feel safe to have that traffic,” they said.

Waymo currently operates in 11 U.S. cities, including Atlanta.

The company admitted to Fox News Digital that Waymos are staged in areas of the city where they are frequently hailed from, but said that shouldn’t come at the expense of residents.

“At Waymo, we are committed to being good neighbors,” the company told FOx News Digital. “We take community feedback seriously and have already worked with our fleet partner to address this routing behavior. With over 500,000 weekly trips across the country, our service is proven to significantly reduce traffic injuries and improve road safety. We value our relationship with Atlanta residents and remain focused on providing a seamless, respectful, and safe experience for riders and residents alike.”

And the cul-de-sac quagmire isn’t the only issue Waymo has faced recently. This week, the company recalled nearly 4,000 of its vehicles due to a glitch where it may not stop before driving into “standing water,” and video obtained FOX 4 appeared to show a Waymo running a red light at a busy intersection in Dallas.

Last year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigated Waymo after vehicles were allegedly seen illegally passing stopped school buses in Austin, Texas.

And in January, a Waymo hit a student walking through a crosswalk near an elementary school in Santa Monica, California. The car was driving at a low speed and the student wasn’t hurt.

Supreme Court Denies Reinstatement of Virginia Democrats’ Congressional Map

0

In a significant blow to Virginia’s Democratic leaders, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an urgent appeal to reinstate the party’s proposed congressional map. This decision represents a missed opportunity for Democrats to gain an advantage in the ongoing mid-decade redistricting battle.

The justices, without any noted dissent, chose not to overturn a decision by Virginia’s highest court. The ruling stated that Democrats had not adhered to the proper procedures when submitting their redistricting proposal to voters.

Republican leaders in Virginia argued that the Supreme Court lacked jurisdiction to review the state court’s decision, and the justices agreed.

This outcome likely marks the end of a lengthy legal struggle for the current election cycle. However, Democrats may have the chance to revisit redistricting efforts in the future. The party had aimed to implement a favorable 10-1 district plan, which could have provided four additional seats in their quest to gain control of the House in the upcoming November elections.

Virginia had become a focal point for Democrats seeking to counteract the mid-decade redistricting initiatives, initiated when Texas Republicans, at former President Trump’s behest, added up to five potential seats last year.

When the Texas map reached the Supreme Court, the justices intervened to lift a lower court ruling blocking it. The justices refused to block California’s new map that adds up to five pickup opportunities for Democrats, allowing it to go into effect as well.

Unlike those cases, the battle in Virginia revolved around timing rules embedded in the state’s
constitution.

For Democrats to send their map to voters for a referendum vote this spring, state lawmakers
needed to pass their proposal twice, with an election in between. The Virginia Supreme Court
ruled 4-3 that Democrats acted too late when passed it the first time in October, as early voting had already begun by that point.

The U.S. Supreme Court can only review state court judgments if they raise a federal issue. The two top Republican lawmakers in Virginia insisted the case didn’t and that holding otherwise
would upend longstanding precedents.

“There’s a simple reason Applicants did not preserve any federal issues in this case: not one
exists,” their attorneys wrote in court filings. “From the outset, this case has concerned only
state-law claims and state-law defenses. It is, after all, about the procedure for amending the
Virginia Constitution.”

Their Democratic counterparts insisted the lower decision misunderstands the federal definition
of an election.

They also argued it conflicts with the authority the U.S. Constitution gives to state legislatures to
regulate elections. A few years ago, Democrats raised concerns that endorsing a maximalist
view of that theory would hand unchecked power to state lawmakers.

“The Virginia Supreme Court’s decision amounts to judicial defiance of the Commonwealth’s
Constitution and the statutes enacted by the General Assembly lawfully establishing
congressional districts to be used in the upcoming 2026 election,” they wrote in their emergency appeal this week.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) said a day earlier that the state would move ahead with its old map, as the deadline had passed, according to WTOP.
