Unveiling the Hidden World of Lily Mo Sheen

0

Lily Mo Sheen’s greatest fear is being labeled as a product of nepotism.

This concern may seem inevitable given her lineage; her mother, Kate Beckinsale, is a timeless Hollywood icon with major hits like “Pearl Harbor” and the “Underworld” series, while her father, Michael Sheen, boasts a remarkable collection of accolades across TV, film, and theater – the very essence of the acting world.

Moreover, her grandparents, Judy Loe and Richard Beckinsale, were cherished figures on British television for many years.

Nevertheless, despite her illustrious family background and parents whose combined worth is estimated to exceed $30 million, the 27-year-old Lily is determined to carve her own path.

“She adores her parents but has been living independently for quite some time,” a source shared exclusively with the Daily Mail.

‘She doesn’t want to rely on her parents – at the same time, it’s undeniable that it would give her a leg up, so she just wants to really work hard and earn her career. She even takes acting classes.’

Lily was initially reluctant to follow in her parents’ footsteps, focusing more on writing than acting until she was 15, at which time she fully caught the bug after being cast in Shakespeare productions at her $52,500-a-year Harvard-Westlake Upper School. In 2017, she took herself off to New York University where she studied the Meisner technique and started to throw herself at auditions with vigor.

‘My parents would be happy with me doing anything,’ she told W magazine in 2022. ‘My mom used to always say, “Are you sure you don’t want to go to medical school?” My grandma was an actor, and my grandpa was an actor and my mom is an actress. That’s the world that I really understood. But all I want to do is work.’

And work she has, the way of non-famous aspiring actors – in hospitality.

Lily, who is signed to Independent Talent Group, whose roster boasts Simone Ashley, Gillian Anderson and Jodi Comer, has refused to rely solely on her parents’ money to fund her lifestyle, instead taking on regular nine to five jobs at contemporary art museums and local eateries throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

‘She’s worked at restaurants for many years and she’s proud of that,’ said our source. ‘So many actors do, but she’s happy to work. She just wants to work hard and earn her career. The parents are proud of her.’

When filming wrapped on her Hollywood film debut, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in 2019, Lily was back waiting tables at an Italian restaurant in the East Village.

Lily found parallels between her life and that of Addy, the character she played alongside Nicolas Cage. The Hollywood stalwart played a fictionalized version of himself as he struggles with juggling his career with family life. The gig was somewhat cathartic for Lily who knows all too well the pitfalls of having famous parents.

Sheen and Beckinsale, who were first tickled by fame in the early 1990s, met in 1995 on a touring production of The Seagull, which marked Beckinsale’s first professional stage appearance.

At the time, Sheen had a smattering of small-fry TV credits to his name, instead prioritizing treading the boards in the West End. Meanwhile, Beckinsale was slowly collecting TV and film roles, starring alongside Christian Bale in Prince of Jutland.

After their 1995 meeting, Beckinsale and Sheen began a whirlwind relationship, soon moving in together and welcoming Lily in 1999. However, they split in 2003, with Beckinsale moving on that same year with American director Len Wiseman, who she met on the set of Underworld.

With her parents split, Lily was forced to spend her time between Los Angeles, where she lived with her mother, and the UK where her Welsh-born father lived, desperately trying to sneak in quality time amid their hectic work schedules.

‘It can be difficult and relationships can really easily be frayed,’ she hinted during an interview with Los Angeles magazine in 2022.

Her father Sheen also acknowledged the difficulties, telling the Changes with Annie Macmanus podcast in 2020: ‘I had no work visa to stay in America, so every time I left, I had to go back to Britain. I never knew if I would be allowed to come back in again.’

But despite the logistics, Lily remains close to her parents.

‘When they’re not working you can tell that their goal was to come together and be with each other,’ a second insider told us. ‘She loves her parents and you can tell that she enjoys spending time with [them].’

But it hasn’t always been easy – in particular the last few years, which has seen the Beckinsale clan blighted by health issues and grief.

Beckinsale’s stepfather, Roy Battersby, died in January 2024, followed by the death of her mother Loe to cancer in July 2025. The actress, who was herself hospitalized for weeks for a tear in her esophagus in summer 2024, had cared for her mother in the months leading up to her death.

Beckinsale’s erratic social media posts in the months that followed saw her scrutinized over her frail appearance, while other cryptic posts raised concern. She made sexual assault claims on Instagram and accused her former agent of allegedly firing her for expressing her political beliefs about the Gaza war.

When the online discourse seemingly becomes too much to handle, Beckinsale will go through periods in which she completely wipes her Instagram grid.

The capricious activity appears to be too much for Lily who no longer follows her mother on Instagram and Beckinsale doesn’t follow her back. Lily is still following Sheen.

Privately, Lily leaned on her boyfriend, David Schecter, for support, whom Beckinsale previously described as the ‘only bright spot’ for her and her daughter at the time.

After a November 2025 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! – during which she talked about Lily and her boyfriend – Beckinsale posted a sweet throwback photo of her and her daughter, writing: ‘Sorry for everything. I love you and always have more than anything in the wide world.’

One insider denied any talk of animosity, speculating that Beckinsale and her daughter simply want ‘their own space in their own world’ to post whatever they want.

‘Sometimes kids and parents get embarrassed [following each other] or who knows, but I think it’s more of that,’ they told the Daily Mail, insisting that they have a very ‘normal mom and daughter type of relationship.’

They recently took a trip together and even shot for the same movie, action-dramedy Turnbuckle.

Although the first source said Lily and Beckinsale were never on set at the same time, a second insider said the matriarch ensured production took care of her daughter as she is ‘super protective.’

The latter source, who worked alongside Lily, told the Daily Mail that the young actress appears wise beyond her years, attributing it partially to how she grew up. Like Beckinsale, Lily has also decided to lead a clean and sober lifestyle for the last two years. She is said to be ‘doing well’ with it.

‘You can tell that she’s been in a universe that not many kids her age can relate to, and you can tell she’s focused, which means she’s paying attention to what she’s doing and she has a bright future. She’s a really great talent,’ the insider said.

Her most recent acting credits include a lead role in the independent feature Ice Cream directed by Liza Renzulli, a supporting part in Don’t Kill Loretta directed by Oliver Kienle and a role in Loser directed by Colleen McGuinness. She is also attached to multiple projects that have yet to be announced.

But as her career promises to cement her in the upper echelons of Hollywood, our insider warns it could rock her relationship with Beckinsale.

‘You can tell that Lily’s starting to get wings of her own and making choices,’ they said. ‘She is coming into her own and people are starting to understand who she is.

‘[Lily and Beckinsale] really do care for each other and want the best for each other, but you can tell both Kate and Lily are being pulled in their own direction in life.’

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Sheen, Beckinsale and Lily for comment.

Texas Man Facing Charges in Pregnant Wife’s Murder Seeks to Stay in Italy, Citing ‘Lifestyle and Culture

0

A man from Texas, accused of murdering his pregnant wife, recently stood before an Italian judge, fervently proclaiming his innocence and expressing a strong desire to remain in Italy rather than return to the United States.

Lee Mongerson Gilley made his appearance in a Milan courtroom earlier this week following his arrest earlier this month. During the proceedings, he firmly opposed extradition to the U.S. and instead, sought asylum in Italy.

“My wife is dead, and they wrongly blamed me. I am innocent. I did not kill my wife,” Gilley declared in court, as reported by NBC News. He further admitted, “The only crime I committed was fleeing.”

In his statements to the judge, Gilley explained his flight from the U.S., citing concerns for his safety and a lack of trust in the American judicial system. He chose Italy as his refuge, he explained, due to its perceived stronger due process protections and its stance against the death penalty.

Meanwhile, back in Houston, Gilley is facing serious charges. He and his defense attorney, Ed McClees, are scheduled to appear at the Harris County Justice Center. Gilley has been charged with capital murder in connection with the death of his wife, Christa Gilley.

In court Monday, Gilley told the judge that he would like to remain in Italy “because of the lifestyle, the culture, the international protection, and to receive a fair trial,” according to NBC News.

Italian officials have not yet decided whether to extradite him back to the United States, the outlet reported.

Gilley, 39, is charged with capital murder in the 2024 death of his wife, Christa Bauer Gilley, who was found unresponsive in the couple’s Houston home on Oct. 7, 2024.

Authorities initially responded to a reported overdose or suicide, but investigators later determined she died from strangulation. An autopsy found she was pregnant at the time.

Charging documents obtained by KPRC allege Gilley caused her death by applying pressure to her neck and upper body. Prosecutors have said he gave inconsistent accounts of what happened and initially claimed he tried to save his wife with CPR. He later acknowledged she was not suicidal and that the couple had been arguing before her death, according to the outlet.

Gilley was arrested days after the incident but later released on bond. His trial had been scheduled to begin this month.

Authorities say Gilley cut off his court-ordered GPS ankle monitor and fled the country ahead of a scheduled court appearance. The monitor alerted authorities after it was tampered with, according to KPRC.

Investigators believe Gilley traveled from Texas to Canada and then on to Italy, where he was detained upon arrival in Milan. Court filings cited by NBC News state he was traveling under a pseudonym and carrying forged Belgian identification documents.

Prosecutors have also alleged that while out on bond, Gilley discussed plans to flee the country and obtain a new identity, including inquiries about securing foreign identification and devising a plan to remove his GPS monitor.

Instead of returning to Texas, Gilley is now seeking asylum in Italy, arguing he is being “wrongfully prosecuted” and fears the death penalty. His attorney, Dick DeGuerin, told KPRC that Gilley’s decision to flee should not be interpreted as an admission of guilt.

“I’m concerned that the prosecution will try to say that it’s evidence of consciousness of guilt that he’s running from it, but I think he’s just scared,” DeGuerin said.

DeGuerin has also indicated that Texas authorities may need to assure Italian officials that Gilley will not face the death penalty in order to secure extradition, though he has said prosecutors are not currently seeking it.

A U.S. judge has issued a gag order in the case, limiting what attorneys can publicly say. Italian officials have also signaled they are unlikely to comment publicly while the case is pending.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Gilley’s attorneys and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for comment.

Tragic Shooting in Pines Township: Teen Identified and Two Others Injured on Liberty Avenue

In Porter County, Indiana, authorities have identified the 17-year-old boy who tragically lost his life in a shooting on Saturday night. This incident, which also left two other young individuals wounded, occurred during a post-prom gathering at a residence in the northwest part of the state.

The La Porte County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim, Javon Townsend, a junior at Michigan City High School, succumbed to three gunshot wounds. He passed away at Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

“He’ll never have the opportunity to graduate or attend his senior prom. So much of his life was taken away unnecessarily,” expressed Alesia Vinson, his grandmother. “The pain is indescribable when tragedy strikes this close to home.”

The shooting unfolded around 11 p.m. at a home located on Liberty Avenue in Pine Township, near Michigan City, as reported by the Porter County sheriff’s department.

In addition to Townsend, an 18-year-old woman and another male juvenile were also injured during the incident.

The mother of senior student Ginger White says her 18-year-old daughter was shot while trying to run away from gunfire, moments after arriving at the party.

“Just gotten out of her car, and that’s when everything blew up,” Ariel White said. “She heard the shots. She took off running. She had realized she had been hit; So she, like, hit the ground then rolled underneath a car.”

White and another 17-year-old boy remain in the hospital in Chicago.

“All the high school kids were going whether they went to the prom or not,” Vinson said.

Shocked neighbors say chaos erupted moments after someone opened fire on a house where there was an apparent after-prom party going on.

Neighbors say the owner of the residence where the shooting happened often rents out the house to vacationers.

The gunfire shattered windows of neighboring homes, too, but didn’t hurt anyone else.

“I can’t describe it. I can’t do nothing but cry. It hurt me,” Townsend’s cousin Jason Mojica said.

Officials with Michigan City Area Schools said the celebration was a post-prom party following prom activities.

“Michigan City Area Schools is aware of the tragic off-campus incident involving several Michigan City High School students following prom activities,” Michigan City Area Schools said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the students, families, and everyone impacted during this difficult time. Counseling and support resources will be available to our students and staff.”

Police said the shooting was believed to be an isolated incident, and started with a fight.

“He gave good vibes when came over our house. And when he came over there everybody was all up on him. My dad told everybody to get away from him, not knowing that was his last day over there, last day coming over there to see us again,” Townsend’s little brother Jalion Yates said.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information on the shooting.

Family of FSU Shooting Victim Files Lawsuit Against OpenAI, Alleges ChatGPT Played Role in Attack Planning

0

Legal representatives for the family of Tiru Chabba, a victim of the tragic mass shooting at Florida State University, allege that ChatGPT played a role in aiding the suspect, Phoenix Ikner, in committing the attack in 2025.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The family of Tiru Chabba, a 45-year-old father of two who fell victim to last year’s shooting at Florida State University, has filed a federal lawsuit. The suit targets both the alleged shooter, Phoenix Ikner, and the tech company OpenAI.

The legal team for Chabba’s widow, Vandana Joshi, includes prominent civil rights attorney Bakari Sellers along with Amy Willbanks from The Strom Law Firm. They are joined by Gregorio Francis and J. Robert Bell III from Osborne, Francis and Pettis, as well as Jim Bannister of Bannister, Wyatt and Stalvey.

According to the attorneys, the ChatGPT system developed by OpenAI played a part in enabling Ikner to execute the attack, which resulted in the deaths of Chabba and 57-year-old Robert Morales, and injuries to five additional individuals.

During a press conference, Willbanks stated, “Our argument is that this product is inherently dangerous, a fact that OpenAI itself has admitted. The company has an increased responsibility to ensure that the interactions facilitated by their product do not compromise public safety, free speech notwithstanding.”

According to the lawsuit, extensive conversations between Ikner and ChatGPT took place with the AI platform giving him advice and guidance on things like which gun to use, where to go on campus, and the time of day where the most people would be at risk. The lawsuit states these conversations took place up until just minutes before the shooting took place.

“He asked about what time should he go to campus, what time are most people going to be there. I mean he literally utilized OpenAI and ChatGPT as his co-conspirator,” said Sellers during the press conference.

The lawsuit further explains that ChatGPT went as far as recommending how to get the most media attention from a school shooting saying its more likely for a shooting to gain national attention if children are involved. “Even 2-3 victims can draw more attention,” the lawsuit claims ChatGPT told Ikner.

“ChatGPT didn’t just help Ikner find information,” Francis said. “It ‘befriended’ him. It encouraged his delusions. It endorsed his view that he was a sane and rational individual and helped convince him that violent acts can be required to bring about change. Most importantly, it did all that without notifying any authorities because, for OpenAI, engagement is more important than safety because engagement means profit.”

“OpenAI knew this would happen,” Joshi said. “It’s happened before and it was only a matter of time before it happened again. But they chose to put their profits over our safety and it killed my husband. They need to be responsible before another family has to go through this.”

Jacksonville wrongful death attorney Shannon Schott says despite the evidence, this case will be challenging for the plaintiffs. She says at the core of this case is whether or not Chat GPT should be treated like a product, similar to a defective toy or dangerous appliance, or more like a social media platform like Reddit.

“If the shooter had gone on to reddit and asked other users the same questions it had asked Chat GPT, Reddit would be immune from any sort of prosecution under federal law,” said Schott. “So the question is, is it essentially the same thing for an AI platform?”

Schott says that right now there is not a legal precedent holding an AI company responsible for a violent crime but this lawsuit could pave the way for that to happen.

“The lawsuit really comes down to the plaintiff saying that OpenAI and ChatGPT have a duty to keep people from harming themselves or others while using their platform or being encouraged, and they failed in that duty,” said Schott.

An OpenAI spokesperson released a statement to ABC News:

“Last year’s mass shooting at Florida State University was a tragedy, but ChatGPT is not responsible for this terrible crime,” company spokesperson Drew Pusateri told ABC News. “After learning of the incident, we identified an account believed to be associated with the suspect and proactively shared this information with law enforcement. We continue to cooperate with authorities.

In this case, ChatGPT provided factual responses to questions with information that could be found broadly across public sources on the internet, and it did not encourage or promote illegal or harmful activity. ChatGPT is a general-purpose tool used by hundreds of millions of people every day for legitimate purposes. We work continuously to strengthen our safeguards to detect harmful intent, limit misuse, and respond appropriately when safety risks arise.”

Keegan Bradley Reflects on Unforgettable PGA Championship and Ryder Cup Moments

0

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — Engaging in a discussion with Keegan Bradley is akin to opening a window into his soul, offering a level of emotional honesty that is uncommon among today’s athletes.

On Monday, ahead of this week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink, Bradley candidly shared his deep connection with the tournament that transformed his career, alongside his tumultuous history with the Ryder Cup.

As a newcomer to the PGA Tour, Bradley clinched victory at the 2011 PGA Championship held at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

He later triumphed at the 2018 BMW Championship at Aronimink, marking his first win after enduring a six-year period of challenges with his performance.

Both of these accomplishments have left a significant imprint on Bradley’s life and career.

“After the PGA in ’11, my mom and sister were there … I remember driving out of the Atlanta Athletic Club with the Wanamaker [Trophy] in my lap, holding it and we were looking at each other like, ‘This is crazy,’ ’’ Bradley recalled. “We were trying to get some beers or something and everything was closed. And we went back [to the rental house] and I had Bud Light and cereal for dinner. It was the best meal of my life.

“Then I took the trophy and put it right next to my bed and I remember waking up in the morning and looking at it, like, ‘This is crazy. I can’t believe this.’ ’’

He called the 2018 BMW at Aronimink “a major moment in my career,’’ adding, “I never knew if I would win again on Tour.’’

Bradley recalled being “in a really, really dark place with my putter’’ at the time he played that BMW, “and this was the first glimmer of hope that I had.’’

“I remember coming down the stretch and thinking in my head, ‘I can’t believe how calm you are in this moment,’ and that’s not something I say to myself very often,’’ he said. “I was enjoying the moment of being in [contention], and I had this really incredible moment that I’ll never forget the rest of my career that happened here.

“I was on the eighth green and it’s adjacent to the 10th green and I’m in the final couple groups and leading the tournament. And on the 10th green was Tiger Woods in his red and black. I looked up at the leaderboard and he was one [shot] back of me. I remember thinking, ‘This is so crazy that I’m in this spot again and there’s my idol and he’s trying to chase me down and he’s right there.’ ’’

Bradley will take part in the annual PGA dinner for past champions Tuesday night, a tradition like the annual champions dinner at the Masters.

“It’s the most spectacular day of my peak golf year,’’ he said.

“When I go to the Champions Dinner, I’m overwhelmed with emotion to be in the room with these people,’’ he said. “It’s a time you can actually go, ‘Wow, what I did there in 2011 was really something special and something that I get to enjoy with those group of people every year for the rest of my life.’ ’’

A less pleasant memory for Bradley is his Ryder Cup experience, which he called “brutal.”

He was left off the 2023 team as a potential captain’s pick, and then he was the losing captain last fall at Bethpage, a week that left him scarred emotionally.

“The last couple months I’ve started to feel more like myself,’’ he said. “Sometimes, I’m a little too honest with how I’m feeling and it gets me in some weird spots. [But] it was tough after the Ryder Cup and it still is. I’ll be driving down the road and things will pop into my head and think about things I had done or wish I had done different.

“Getting back out here and getting in the routine, I’m playing some better golf and I’m starting to feel a little bit more like myself out there, and I’m feeling a little bit more separated from Bethpage.’’

Now he’s thinking ahead, about how to make the 2027 team as a player in Ireland.

“It’s going to be really hard, I know that,’’ he said. “I’ll be 41 when that happens. But what a cool story it would be. How fun would that be?’’

Americans Under Health Watch: Monitoring for Symptoms Amid MV Hondius Incident

0

In a recent development concerning the global hantavirus outbreak, two Americans not aboard the implicated cruise ship are under surveillance for potential symptoms. This comes amid warnings that it could be weeks before the 17 evacuated U.S. passengers know if they have contracted the virus.

The Maryland Department of Health disclosed this information on Monday, coinciding with the disembarkation of the last group of 28 passengers from the MV Hondius. Health officials suspect that the two Americans may have been exposed during an international flight, where they traveled alongside an individual who later tested positive for the virus.

This particular hantavirus strain, known for its potentially lethal effects, has been associated with past instances of human-to-human transmission. However, such transmission is uncommon and typically necessitates close and prolonged contact with an infected person or their bodily fluids.

Complicating matters further is the virus’s incubation period, which can range from four to 42 days, thus delaying the confirmation of infection for those potentially exposed. As the situation unfolds, health authorities continue to monitor and respond to the outbreak with heightened vigilance.

It may then take weeks for people to find out if they have the virus, as the incubation period ranges from four days to 42 days.

‘The Maryland Department of Health is coordinating closely across all levels of government, as well as with leading experts and medical facilities that have Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Centers,’ officials said in a statement, noting that the Andes strain of the virus has never been reported in the state before.

Meanwhile, authorities in New York announced that three residents of the Empire State were among those onboard the Norwegian-flagged ship.

One was from New York City, while the other two are residents of Orange County and Westchester County, ABC 7 reports.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said all three of the passengers are being quarantined on a Nebraska Air Force base, where they are being monitored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

They are then expected to be subject to a 42-day monitoring period.

‘While the Department is working in close coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health departments to gather more information, at this point it is unclear how long they will stay in Nebraska and whether, or when, those individuals intend to return to New York,’ said James McDonald, health commissioner of the New York State Health Department.

‘We are closely monitoring the situation and working with the CDC and local health departments.’

Hochul also said she has tapped some of the state’s best experts to ‘prepare us for any potential scenario.’

But officials in both states maintain that the risk to the general public is very low.

The New York passengers were among 17 Americans now back in the United States following the nightmare cruise.

On Monday, 16 of those passengers arrived at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where 15 are in the quarantine unit and one other is in the biocontainment unit after testing ‘mildly PCR positive for the Andes virus.’

Two other American cruise ship passengers were flown to Atlanta ‘for further assessment and care,’ officials said.

Each of the Americans will now be clinically assessed and cared for based on their condition.

Passengers who previously left the stricken vessel are also under home quarantine and being closely monitored, including Americans in six states – Arizona, California, Georgia, New Jersey, Texas and Virginia.

Around the world, at least nine people no longer on the MV Hondius have fallen ill,  with six of them confirmed to have contracted the virus, the World Health Organization has said.

A Dutch couple and a German national have died, and French officials said one woman evacuated from the MV Hondius ship with no initial symptoms is now in ‘serious condition’ with the virus.

A Spanish woman who was on the same flight as a passenger who later died from the disease has also reportedly been hospitalized with a suspected infection.

She was said to have been ‘two rows behind the person who died’ and had ‘only brief contact’. No further details have been released.

The Andes strain of hantavirus can cause severe lung illness that can be fatal in up to 50 percent of cases, according to the WHO.

Symptoms usually begin between one and eight weeks after exposure.

Warning signs include fever, muscle aches, breathing difficulties, chest tightness, severe weakness or symptoms developing after known exposure to rodents or an infected person.

In those circumstances, doctors say people should seek urgent medical advice and inform healthcare providers about any possible hantavirus exposure.

Those most at risk of severe illness are believed to include older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone exposed to a high dose of the virus – for example, through prolonged exposure to contaminated rodent droppings or dust.

Savannah Guthrie’s Emotional Off-Camera Moments Amid Intensified Search for Missing Mom Nancy on ‘Today’ Show

Savannah Guthrie has been experiencing moments of vulnerability off-camera at the “Today” show as the search for her missing mother, Nancy, reaches the significant milestone of 100 days.

While maintaining her usual composed and professional demeanor on air since rejoining the show last month, behind the scenes, the seasoned anchor has been grappling with an emotional journey. Sources reveal that the well-respected journalist has faced moments of tears between commercial breaks, yet she consistently regains her composure before returning to the spotlight.

Guthrie’s mother was tragically abducted from her home in Arizona on February 1, 2026. Following this heartbreaking incident, Guthrie took an extended leave of absence but made the decision to return to “Today” on April 6, even though the search efforts continue.

“At times, a kind word from a fan or a heartfelt gesture from a guest or someone outside the studio can deeply move her,” a source shared. These touching interactions serve as poignant reminders of the widespread support and empathy for her situation.

“Sometimes a fan will say something sweet to her, whether that is a guest or a sign from a fan outside that makes her feel touched,” our source explained.

“It’s to be expected,” they added of Guthrie’s emotions, noting that this does not happen every day.

A second source told Page Six that “everyone” has been marveling at the “strength and bravery” Guthrie brings to set each day amid this tumultuous time in her life.

“It’s never going to be ‘business as usual’ for her, but it’s important to her to put one foot in front of the other and keep going,” the insider shared.

We’re told the staff and cast of the show have all been supportive of Guthrie as she navigates the heartbreaking situation, especially her close friend and co-host, Jenna Bush Hager.

“Jenna Bush is a source of comfort to her,” said the source. “She leans on Jenna a lot.”

Over Mother’s Day weekend, Guthrie honored her mother with a series of pics shared via Instagram

“Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie — we miss you with our every breath,” she captioned her post. “We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”

She also asked the public for help as the investigation remains ongoing.

As previously reported, the FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for any information relating to Nancy’s case, while Guthrie and her family are offering $1 million for information that leads to finding her mother.

We hear security protocols have been tightened at NBC recently due to the ongoing investigation. However, Guthrie is bravely looking ahead on the work front.

She announced on Monday’s episode of “Today” that she will host a new “Wordle” game show alongside the project’s executive producer, Jimmy Fallon.

“I’m so happy it’s you — we were looking for the perfect host for this,” Fallon gushed. “We needed someone who looks like they play Wordle, someone who knows how to run a show. We did the pilot, and you were amazing.”

Guthrie admitted in an interview, per the New York Times, that Wordle had been a point of connection between her and her mother.

“It’s strange to get up and do the ‘Today’ show every day, and it’s strange to say that I’m going to do a game show when your heart is broken,” she said. “Nothing about that has changed, and it’s not easy. But I’m determined to put one foot in front of the other. And this is a joyous thing.”

Unscheduled Showdown: Macron Rebukes Africa Summit Attendees for ‘Total Lack of Respect

0

French President Emmanuel Macron found himself at the center of controversy after he interrupted a session aimed at young audiences during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi on Monday. His actions came after he criticized the attendees for making noise and labeled the disruption as “a total lack of respect.”

Footage from the summit captured the moment Macron stood up and approached the stage during the “Africa Forward: Creation in Motion” panel. This session was dedicated to discussions by artists and young entrepreneurs on culture and innovation.

Addressing the crowd, Macron said, “Excuse me, everybody. Hey, hey, hey. I’m sorry, guys. But it’s impossible to speak about culture with such noise when we have people here who are incredibly inspired and delivering speeches.”

He went on to say, “This is a total lack of respect. If you wish to have private discussions or talk about other topics, I suggest using the bilateral rooms or stepping outside. Otherwise, if you choose to stay, let’s listen respectfully to those speaking and play by the same rules.”

Macron was immediately criticized for his uninvited remarks on social media. A former member of Parliament from Zimbabwe, Fadzayi Mahere, called the French leader out on X. “Respectfully @EmmanuelMacron I don’t believe that it’s courteous or appropriate for you to come onto our Continent and talk down at people like this. They are not your kids. Don’t be condescending. Imagine if a guest of the state did the same in your country? Would it fly? I don’t think so.”

Another post from a Kenyan-Canadian lawyer with 3.1 million followers announced, “Africans don’t need @EmmanuelMacron’s permission to speak in Africa,” said Dr. Miguna Miguna, who in January announced he was running for the Kenyan presidency in 2027, according to local reports.

A report published Monday by Modern Ghana, the interruption carried a symbolic irony, as Macron had traveled to Kenya to promote what Paris describes as a more equal and respectful partnership with African nations, moving away from what critics have long viewed as a paternalistic post-colonial model.

The incident took place during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, where more than 30 African leaders, business executives and young entrepreneurs gathered for discussions focused on economic development, innovation and cooperation between Africa and Europe.

Kenya’s Standard Media reported that the exchange “cast an unusual shadow” over the summit, noting that some civil society groups characterized the two-day summit as a “reengineering of imperialism.”

The moment underscored the balancing act facing Macron as France attempts to redefine its relationship with Africa following years of political tensions and military withdrawals from several West African countries.

Earlier Monday, Macron told students at the University of Nairobi that “Africa is succeeding” and argued the continent needs investment to strengthen its sovereignty rather than dependence on development aid, according to Modern Ghana’s report by Mustapha Bature Sallama. The report also noted Macron acknowledged France’s own financial constraints during the remarks.

Macron has increasingly emphasized partnerships with African youth, entrepreneurs and cultural leaders as Paris recalibrates its Africa strategy amid growing competition from Russia, China and Turkey for influence across the continent.

Revitalize Hamstring Strength: 5 Superior Standing Exercises for Seniors Over 60

If you’re over 60 and finding it harder to bend or tackle stairs due to tight hamstrings, you’re not alone. Here are five exercises to help you get back on track.

The strength of your hamstrings plays a crucial role in everyday movements. Whether you’re bending to pick something up, climbing stairs, walking up a hill, or standing straight without discomfort in your lower back, your hamstrings are involved. As we age, particularly past 60, these muscles can weaken and become stiff, especially if your routine involves more sitting and less consistent lower-body exercise.

While lunges are excellent for building leg strength, they don’t always target the hamstrings effectively. To give these muscles the attention they need, exercises that involve hinging, controlled lowering, and hip-driven movements are ideal. These patterns effectively train the hamstrings, which translates to improved bending, lifting, walking capabilities, and stronger hips.

I’ve incorporated these hinge-focused exercises with clients aiming to strengthen their posterior chain without the complexity of advanced balance challenges in every workout. The objective is clear: maintain stable footing, engage the hips, and challenge the hamstrings within a manageable range of motion. These five exercises, utilizing dumbbells, kettlebells, and resistance bands, not only enhance hamstring strength but also fortify the glutes, core, and lower back.

I’ve used these hinge-based exercises with clients who needed to rebuild the backside of the body without making every lower-body workout feel like a balance test. The goal is simple: keep your feet planted, load the hips, and make the hamstrings work through a range you can control. These five standing exercises use dumbbells, kettlebells, and bands to strengthen the hamstrings while also training the glutes, core, and lower back.

Dumbbell RDL

Dumbbell RDLs train your hamstrings and glutes while your core keeps your spine in a strong position. As you push your hips back, your hamstrings have to lengthen under control, which makes the movement valuable for rebuilding strength through the back of your legs. Lunges can challenge balance and coordination first, but RDLs let you focus directly on the hinge pattern and the muscles doing the work. Stronger hamstrings help with bending, lifting, walking uphill, and protecting your lower back during daily movement.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings, glutes, lower back, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and hold dumbbells in front of your thighs.
  2. Brace your core and soften your knees.
  3. Push your hips back as the dumbbells travel down your legs.
  4. Lower until you feel a stretch through your hamstrings.
  5. Drive your hips forward to return to standing.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Single-leg RDL, staggered-stance RDL, tempo RDL

Form Tip: Keep the dumbbells close to your body and move through your hips.

Banded Good Morning

Banded good mornings train your hamstrings, glutes, and lower back while teaching your hips to move cleanly. The band adds tension as you stand tall, so the back of your legs has to work through the whole rep. This makes the exercise especially useful if you want hamstring work without needing heavy weights. The movement also reinforces the same pattern you use when picking something up, leaning forward, or standing back up from a hinged position.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings, glutes, lower back, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand on the middle of a resistance band with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Loop the band around your upper back or hold the ends near your shoulders.
  3. Brace your core and keep your knees slightly bent.
  4. Push your hips back as your torso leans forward.
  5. Drive your hips forward to return to standing.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Bodyweight good mornings, slower tempo good mornings, staggered-stance good mornings

Form Tip: Keep your back flat and finish each rep by squeezing your glutes.

Kettlebell Deadlift

Kettlebell deadlifts train your hamstrings and glutes with a simple setup that feels more approachable than pulling a barbell from the floor. The kettlebell sits between your feet, which helps you keep the weight close and focus on driving through your hips. Your hamstrings help control the lowering phase while your glutes finish the stand. This builds the strength you need to lift bags, move objects around the house, and stand up from low positions with more confidence.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings, glutes, quads, lower back, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart and place a kettlebell between your feet.
  2. Hinge at your hips and grip the kettlebell handle with both hands.
  3. Brace your core and keep your back flat.
  4. Drive through your feet and stand tall with the kettlebell.
  5. Lower the kettlebell back to the floor with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps. Rest for 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Elevated kettlebell deadlift, suitcase kettlebell deadlift, tempo kettlebell deadlift

Form Tip: Keep the kettlebell close and stand by driving your hips forward.

Band Staggered-Stance RDL

Band staggered-stance RDLs train one hamstring more directly while still giving you the balance support of both feet on the ground. Your front leg handles most of the work as you push your hips back, while the back foot gives you just enough stability to stay controlled. This is a strong bridge between regular RDLs and single-leg work because it builds hamstring strength without turning the exercise into a balance challenge. You’ll feel the carryover when stepping, climbing, and bending on one side.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings, glutes, core, hip stabilizers

How to Do It:

  1. Stand on a resistance band with your front foot.
  2. Step your opposite foot slightly behind you with your toes on the floor.
  3. Hold the ends of the band in both hands.
  4. Push your hips back and lower your torso with control.
  5. Drive through your front foot to return to standing.
  6. Complete all reps, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps per leg. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Dumbbell staggered-stance RDL, slower tempo reps, shorter range of motion

Form Tip: Keep most of your weight on the front leg and use the back foot for balance.

Band Pull-Through

Band pull-throughs train your hamstrings and glutes while reinforcing a clean hip hinge. The band pulls your hips backward, so your hamstrings have to control the hinge, and your glutes have to drive the finish. This exercise works well for rebuilding hamstring strength because it trains the hips to do the work rather than letting the lower back take over. The pattern carries over to lifting, standing, and moving with more power through the backside of your body.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings, glutes, lower back, core

How to Do It:

  1. Anchor a resistance band low behind you.
  2. Stand facing away from the anchor with the band between your legs.
  3. Hold the band with both hands and step forward to create tension.
  4. Push your hips back while keeping your back flat.
  5. Drive your hips forward and squeeze your glutes to stand tall.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Cable pull-through, slower tempo pull-through, paused pull-through

Form Tip: Let your hips move back and forward while your spine stays steady.

Hamstrings usually respond best when you train the hinge pattern often enough to build confidence and strength. These exercises give you a clear way to load the back of your legs without relying on lunges for everything. Keep the range comfortable, move slowly, and pay attention to where you feel the work. Your hamstrings should feel challenged, but your lower back shouldn’t feel like it’s taking over the entire set.

  • Prioritize the hinge pattern: RDLs, good mornings, deadlifts, and pull-throughs teach your hips to move while your hamstrings control the motion. That pattern matters every time you bend, lift, or stand back up.
  • Move slowly on the way down: The lowering phase does much of the hamstring work. Take your time and keep tension in the back of your legs.
  • Keep your knees slightly bent: Locked knees can shift the movement into an uncomfortable stretch. A soft knee position helps the hamstrings load more naturally.
  • Use a range you can control: Lower only as far as your hamstrings allow while keeping your back flat. Clean reps beat deeper reps with poor position.
  • Progress with small changes: Add a little weight, use a stronger band, increase reps, or pause at the bottom. Small progressions help build strength without irritating your hips or back.

Stick with these standing exercises a few days per week and give the backside of your legs regular attention. Stronger hamstrings can make walking, lifting, stairs, and daily movement feel more stable and powerful.
