An attorney with a deep Catholic faith, once firm in her belief that matters of life and death were distinctly clear-cut, experienced a profound event that completely transformed her understanding of the universe.

Ohio-based Nanci Danison recalls having a near-death experience that delivered an awe-inspiring insight: she realized that everything in existence emanates from a single energy source, manifesting within humans as what we commonly know as souls.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Danison revealed that she gained understanding of life’s true essence through an encounter with this energy force, a phenomenon she terms the ‘Source’.

The ex-lawyer describes her soul’s journey to a realm few near-death experiencers ever reach, as her physical body lay inert in a hospital’s mammography room, following an allergic reaction to anesthesia and a cardiac episode that abruptly halted her heart.

During this extraordinary experience, Danison reports interacting with several luminous entities before ultimately encountering the all-encompassing Source.

‘It’s not a being of any type. It’s not an entity of any type. It’s an energy source,’ Danison explained. 

She described it as incredibly curious, creative and unconditionally loving by nature. Many people, she claims, interpret Source as being God.

However, Danison explained that her meeting with Source didn’t make her more religious. Instead, she said this supposed journey into the afterlife transmitted life-changing information into her mind, including humanity’s real purpose on Earth.

‘Source puts itself, its consciousness, its self-awareness, into every creature and thing in the universe,’ she claimed.

‘So Source can be on the inside, looking out, experiencing what all these physical matter things can feel,’ Danison continued.

In 1994, Danison experienced this life-altering event during a radiological procedure.

The procedure involved inserting a large needle with a wire into her breast tissue, guided by mammogram imaging, to mark cancerous tumors.

The radiologist’s first attempt missed the target, requiring a second injection of an anesthetic.

This second dose triggered a severe reaction and arrhythmia – when your heartbeat becomes erratic as the flow of blood to the heart is disrupted or stops.

Suddenly, her racing heart seemed to calm, bringing a moment of relief. However, Danison hadn’t realized yet that her heart had stopped completely.

At that point, Danison claims her consciousness left her body, and she could see herself still sitting lifeless in the mammography suite.

‘I was in black, total blackness, but I saw a pinpoint of light in the distance. The light came at me. It rushed at me and surrounded me,’ she claimed.

‘I had the experience that so many near-death experiencers share, which is the overwhelming, unconditional love, unconditional acceptance. It was just magnificent,’ Danison added.

However, that’s when her experience took a profoundly different turn from other near-death journeys.

She remembered seeing five glowing figures in the distance, and claimed these energy beings, shaped like humanoids with radiant light, approached her. 

Danison told the Daily Mail she instantly recognized them as her eternal, beloved friends. They communicated telepathically, expressing joy at her return.

She also began receiving what she called ‘knowings,’ or direct downloads of universal knowledge.

These downloads included the revelation that no such place as Hell exists, contradicting common religious teachings.

Danison added that she also learned how to improve life on Earth and that the concept of religion stems from ancient, speculative human ideas. 

‘I got information about the fact that time does not exist. It’s an artificial construct that humans have created for themselves, and that math is a language like English,’ Danison claimed.

‘That mental illness is the misinterpretation of behaviors of some people that are more of a supernatural nature, and just a bunch of other stuff about reincarnation. Just a ton of stuff,’ the lawyer-turned-author revealed.

She added that the beings revealed her soul had ‘volunteered’ to live as Nanci for a specific mission – to be a catalyst in other people’s lives.

Danison said she felt an immense sense of belonging with these light beings. They were her true home, and had names which were in a language humans couldn’t pronounce.

Her experience deepened as she ‘awoke’ from her life as ‘Nanci’ and became a part of Source again. She claims Source also gave her access to its memories and knowledge about the creation of the universe.

According to Danison, Source imagined the physical universe for exploration. It expelled energy, setting rules like gravity and physics.

This act of creation resembled the Big Bang, forming a universe within Source’s mind. Souls were created as characters to experience this dreamscape.

Source showed her the history of Earth, focusing on religion’s evolution. This vision clarified why human beliefs often stray from universal truths. 

‘There is no one true religion. There’s only truth itself,’ Danison claimed.

Danison’s experience differed from many of the near-death experiences reported over the years.

Many of these involved people who claimed they spoke with angelic beings, entered Heaven, or even descended into a painful realm they described as Hell.

Danison noted that she calls her experience a ‘going into the afterlife’ event, not a near-death experience.

The author of several books on the afterlife claimed that 98.5 per cent of near-death experiencers never get beyond the threshold of the afterlife.

She found that these individuals often feel love and peace, like Danison initially did, but interpret these moments through their pre-existing beliefs.

These near-death experiences have led many to become more religious, seeing their journey as proof of their faith.

Danison contended that this limited their understanding of eternal truths. The author has researched thousands of afterlife experiences and could only find 32 others that met Source and learned the same truths of existence she did.

In a stunning turn of events, a Missouri assistant fire chief finds himself facing serious murder charges after a concealed phone video unraveled his narrative that his wife took her own life on a highway. The revelation has shocked many, particularly as authorities say the footage contradicts his version of events.

Jeremy Perrien, age 45, was taken into custody on Friday, August 21, at Fire Station Four located in Scott County, Missouri. This arrest concludes a thorough 14-month probe in this tight-knit community. Perrien now faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, felony harassment, domestic assault, and two counts of evidence tampering related to a felony case.

Documents, specifically an affidavit accessed by News Media, revealed that Jeremy initially told investigators a grim story. He claimed that on June 25, 2025, while he and his 31-year-old wife, Shelby Perrien, were returning home from a bar in Cape Girardeau, she suddenly expressed despair, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m a piece of s—,” before allegedly using a .380 caliber handgun to fatally wound herself.

When asked whether he made any stops following the shooting, Perrien told deputies that he didn’t but then said, “I lied, I pulled over on Kingshighway to p—.” Perrien allegedly told authorities that the ride was “non-argumentative.”

But investigators now say his story was a sham and that behind closed doors, the assistant fire chief was allegedly living a double life.

When detectives cracked open Shelby’s cellphone, they unlocked a “hidden folder” containing a 90-second video recorded just a month before her death. In the video, according to the affidavit, Jeremy was seen striking his wife, grabbing her by the throat, choking her and repeatedly punching her. Investigators said Perrien also threatened to kill her multiple times during the recording.

“I would not get mouthy with me. I will, I’ll f——. I want to kill you so f—— bad right now,” Jeremy allegedly told his wife.

“If you’re going to lie, then I’m just going to smash your face and go to jail and end my f—— life with you,” he allegedly said.

At another point in the graphic exchange, Jeremy allegedly threw his wedding band in her face and said, “I’m never wearing that son a b—- again.”

State police also recovered disturbing text messages where Jeremy allegedly sent: “You 100% will need a body bag if I stay with you. Each time my rage is worse.”

In another message, according to the affidavit, he wrote, “I’d be lying to you if I told you that I was hoping that you wouldn’t commit suicide.”

Perrien’s undoing came from the crime lab after forensic analysis of the blood spatter and physical evidence inside the vehicle determined it was impossible for Shelby to have pulled the trigger, according to authorities.

Perrien was arrested Friday, and is currently being held at the Stoddard County Jail without bond.

Scott County Sheriff Derick Wheetley said he personally knew both Jeremy and Shelby Perrien and had worked alongside Jeremy at numerous fire scenes and calls for service.

“This has never been something I took lightly, and I wanted the truth just as much as Shelby’s family, friends, and this community did,” Wheetley said in a release. “Today’s charges demonstrate exactly why we turned this investigation over from the beginning and why we remained patient and allowed independent agencies to follow the evidence wherever it led.”

News Media has requested comment from the Scott County Rural Fire Department. It was not immediately clear if Perrien had an attorney representing him.

The health of our kidneys is crucial to almost every bodily system. These vital, fist-sized organs serve as a relentless filtration mechanism, clearing waste and surplus fluids from the blood, and converting them to urine.

Damage to the kidneys, often resulting from diabetes or hypertension, leads to scarring of their filtering units, impairing their ability to cleanse the blood of toxins effectively.

Often dubbed the ‘silent killer’, kidney disease in its initial stages seldom presents clear symptoms, making early detection a challenge.

By the time noticeable issues like fatigue, nausea, or swelling in the legs appear, the kidneys may have already lost significant function.

In recent years, both clinical research and centuries-old medical traditions have pointed to the face as a remarkably revealing window into renal function.

Long before lab tests show abnormal numbers, the mirror may reflect subtle warning signs, from persistent under-eye puffiness to an unexplained dullness in the skin, that warrant a closer look.

Pale or Sallow Complexion

A healthy complexion has a warm, rosy undertone – evidence of oxygen-rich blood circulating close to the surface. But when kidneys begin to fail, that glow can fade.

A pale or sallow complexion is one of the more scientifically grounded facial signs of kidney trouble. Healthy kidneys produce a hormone called erythropoietin, or EPO, which signals the bone marrow to make red blood cells.

When kidney function declines, EPO production drops, leading to anemia, or a shortage of oxygen-carrying red cells.

Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to every corner of the body. When there aren’t enough, tissues don’t get the oxygen they need.

Ancient healers noticed this too. Traditional Chinese Medicine describes a dull or sallow complexion as a reflection of ‘kidney qi deficiency,’ interpreting it as a sign that the body’s core vitality is waning.

Puffy Eyelids & Facial Swelling

A healthy face has defined contours – the eyes sit naturally in their sockets, and the cheeks and jawline are clearly visible. But when the body retains fluid, those contours can soften or disappear entirely.

Puffiness around the eyes and general facial swelling are among the most well-supported signs of kidney trouble.

Healthy kidneys maintain a careful balance of proteins and electrolytes that keep fluid inside blood vessels where it belongs.

When they become damaged, they may lose their ability to filter out excess sodium and water, causing fluid to back up in the tissues.

Damaged kidneys can also leak a protein called albumin into the urine. Albumin normally acts like a sponge, holding fluid inside the blood vessels. When it’s lost, fluid escapes into surrounding tissues, leading to swelling.

The eyelids are particularly vulnerable to this fluid buildup. The skin around the eyes is among the thinnest and loosest in the body, with little underlying muscle to hold fluid in place.

The waste compounds that accumulate when kidneys fail can interfere with melanin production, the pigment responsible for skin color.

Specifically, elevated levels of a hormone called beta-melanocyte-stimulating hormone stimulate melanocytes, the cells that produce pigment, to work overtime.

Over time, this causes the skin to lose its natural tone and take on a grayish or muddy appearance.

In some cases, the skin may even develop a bronze or yellowish hue, as toxins and pigment-building hormones build up together beneath the surface.

This isn’t rare. Studies show that pigmentary changes affect anywhere from 25 percent to 70 percent of people with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Among patients on dialysis, the rate climbs to roughly 65 percent, while those not yet on dialysis see changes in about 37 percent of cases.

Abnormal lip pigmentation

Healthy lips typically have a pink or reddish hue, reflecting good circulation and healthy blood. But when the kidneys begin to fail, the lips can sometimes tell a different story.

Abnormal lip pigmentation, ranging from brown patches to a generalized darkening of the lips, is one of the more common oral manifestations of chronic kidney disease.

Studies show that it affects roughly 40 percent of patients with end-stage kidney disease who are undergoing dialysis. In some populations, the prevalence has been reported as high as 48 percent.

This change stems from hormone buildup. Healthy kidneys filter waste products from the blood, including excess hormones.

When kidney function declines, the body struggles to clear a hormone called beta-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. This hormone stimulates melanocytes – the cells responsible for producing pigment in the skin and lips.

As it accumulates in the blood, it triggers these cells to produce more pigment, resulting in noticeable darkening of the lips and sometimes the inside of the mouth.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has also long observed this connection, describing dark or purplish lips as a sign of ‘blood stasis’ or poor circulation, an observation that aligns with the modern understanding of toxin accumulation.

Oily cheeks and acne

Acne and oily skin are incredibly common, and for most people, they have nothing to do with kidney health.

But in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the cheeks and chin are considered reflective of the overall health of the kidneys and reproductive system.

Practitioners sometimes look to these areas for clues when assessing overall kidney function, especially when breakouts are persistent, recurrent or don’t respond to typical acne treatments.

The scientific link, however, is far less clear.

Some hormonal shifts associated with chronic disease, including alterations in androgen levels, can influence sebum production.

But these changes are not specific to kidney disease and can be caused by a wide range of other factors, from stress and diet to polycystic ovary syndrome and simple genetics.

That said, one indirect connection is worth noting. Chronic kidney disease often leads to a buildup of toxins in the blood, which can trigger systemic inflammation. Inflammation, in turn, can worsen acne in people who are already prone to it.

So while a few stubborn pimples on the chin are almost certainly not a sign of kidney trouble, they can be part of a broader pattern when considered alongside other symptoms.

Science-Backed Steps To Combat Kidney Damage

The good news is that much of the damage to kidneys can be prevented or slowed.

What you eat matters. Plant-based diets have been linked to a lower risk of chronic kidney disease and slower progression. 

In large studies, people who followed predominantly plant-based diets had roughly 20 percent lower levels of albuminuria – a key marker of kidney damage – and 30 percent lower odds of developing kidney disease compared to those who ate more animal protein.

Aim for less than 2,300 mg of sodium per day and limit added sugars. Processed foods often contain hidden phosphorus and potassium additives that can strain damaged kidneys.

Regular physical activity is another frontline defense. The CDC recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week, plus two days of muscle-strengthening activities.

Recent research confirms that exercise directly benefits kidney function.

A network meta-analysis of 25 randomized trials found that moderate exercise can slow the decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), the key measure of kidney function, by a clinically meaningful amount.

Even 30 minutes of activity five times a week has been linked to better outcomes.

High blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney failure in the US. Keeping blood pressure below 140/90 mm Hg is a critical goal.

For people with diabetes, the most common reason for needing dialysis or a transplant, tight blood sugar control is equally essential.

Some common over-the-counter pain relievers can damage your kidneys. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and naproxen should be used with caution, especially in people with kidney disease, diabetes or high blood pressure.

If you take these regularly for chronic pain, talk to your doctor about safer alternatives.

Several months after the tragic incident, Conor Hanlon, the husband of the late Brooke Hanlon, aged 35, has been seen in Chester, New Jersey by neighbors as he periodically visits the house where the grim discovery was made.

Neighbors report that Conor, 36, typically arrives in Chester for brief visits from Thursday to Friday each week. His familiar white Volvo SUV has been frequently spotted in the driveway.

The sorrowful death of Brooke on June 6 remains under thorough investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, which is treating the case as a homicide. As of now, no suspects or persons of interest have been identified.

During his visits, neighbors have witnessed Hanlon doing yard work outside the home on Pottersville Road. Neighbors confirmed to News Media that while his car has been spotted during the day parked outside the home, the white SUV is never parked in the driveway overnight.

On Friday, Hanlon spoke publicly about his wife’s death for the first time, denying any involvement while declining further comment due to the ongoing investigation.

“My heart is totally shattered,” he told the Daily Mail. A reporter asked him if he had any involvement in his wife’s death, to which he said, “Of course not.” He went on to say, “It’s a tragedy.”

Neighbors tell News Media they remain on edge as law enforcement has yet to release any update in the case.

One of them said about three weeks before the young mother was discovered dead inside her home in early June, local police showed up knocking on doors to “check in” with residents on Pottersville Road after they reportedly told them a “911 call was made in the area.”

She confirmed to News Media that the police showed up to her door asking if “everything was OK” between 9:30 and 10 that night.

She lives next door to the Hanlons.

In July, one gun-owning neighbor told News Media he’s ready to defend his family should the time come. He said he has been looking over his shoulder more frequently, knowing a possible killer is still at large.

Conor Hanlon has not been charged with any crime or accused of wrongdoing.

WASHINGTON — In a bold statement, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas described himself as a “walking contradiction” in response to critics who challenge his deviation from expected liberal views associated with black Americans.

The distinguished Justice, known as the second-longest-serving member of the US Supreme Court, detailed his journey of resisting societal pressures throughout his career. He has established himself as a leading figure among black conservatives.

During a conversation on the “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast, the 78-year-old Justice reflected on the significant challenges he faced upon arriving in Washington, D.C. “Many believed I should align with a particular mindset,” Thomas shared.

“Some claimed I was ‘confused.’ I knew I wasn’t. It’s they who mistook me for someone easily swayed or subservient,” Thomas continued in the podcast released on Monday.

Thomas further criticized a prevailing belief that one’s skin color dictates their political stance. “There’s this insistence that you should think a certain way based solely on race,” he remarked, challenging the notion of predestined ideological conformity.

Thomas, the second black justice to serve on the Supreme Court, spoke with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) at the senator’s book release for “Going Further: The Incomparable Clarence Thomas” on Tuesday.

Cruz, a former Solicitor General of Texas who argued before the Supreme Court and Thomas in the early 2000s, authored his tome on the justice after conducting roughly nine hours of one-on-one interviews with him. 

During the interview, Thomas praised Cruz for defending him during the attacks he faced several years ago over his wife’s ties to conservative groups and gifts he received from wealthy elites. He called Cruz and Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee “friends” who stood for him and Ginni Thomas.

During the podcast interview, Thomas reflected on how family and religion shaped his conservative beliefs. 

Thomas, who was heavily influenced by his grandfather, recounted clashing with him over the state of America. His grandfather asked him, “What country is better than this country with all its problems?” and he recalled being unable to answer that. 

The justice previously described how his grandfather had no education, was raised by a freed slave, and yet never complained. Recently, he recounted that after his grandparents “died suddenly in 1983, the decision I made was to live the rest of my life as a memorial to theirs.”

During his time in law school, Thomas once bristled at receiving a copy of conservative intellectual Thomas Sowell’s book, “Black Education: Myths and Tragedies,” though he later rediscovered and warmed up to it.

The justice had been a “left-wing radical” during his youth, per Cruz’s description, attending an anti-war demonstration at Harvard Square in April 1970 that devolved into an angry riot. 

At the time, Thomas had been attending the College of the Holy Cross and was disillusioned with the Catholic Church, frustrated with its lack of moral clarity on racism. 

But the country’s senior-most justice explained that the riot was a turning point for him. 

“I think that was the Road to Damascus moment. That’s the moment where you look into the abyss, and it looks back,” Thomas said, adding that he “couldn’t answer why” he was behaving that way at the time.

“[I] walked in front of the chapel because I was exhausted but couldn’t sleep,” Thomas explained about what happened after the riot. “I faced it, the Blessed Sacrament, and I asked God to take hate out of my heart. And I said, ‘If you take a hate out of my heart, I will never hate again.’”

“And that was the moment for me, when I began to move in a more positive direction.”

A cherished community garden and its beehive became collateral damage in a man’s rampage through local businesses and neighborhoods. Despite persistent calls from residents to the police, it took hours before officers responded—only arriving after the man required medical care.

On August 8, in Aurora, Colorado, 42-year-old Worku Woldemariam allegedly wreaked havoc on an urban garden located on E 16th Avenue. This incident followed accusations of him vandalizing several other venues, including a sheriff’s office, a local market, a Starbucks, and an ice cream shop over multiple days.

Numerous residents reported the actions of Woldemariam, who is known for his extensive criminal record, to the authorities. However, as echoed by Denver7 News, these calls to emergency services seemingly went unanswered for hours.

On the day of the garden’s destruction, residents began alerting law enforcement at about 1 p.m., yet officers did not reach the scene until close to 4 p.m., according to the report.

During the long wait for police, Woldemariam allegedly used rocks to obliterate beehives and tore out crops in the garden, while distressed community members had no choice but to watch the chaos unfold.

‘He was out here with the rock, just breaking the cinder blocks like that for hours,’ volunteer Matthew King told the outlet.

Residents said it was only after Woldemariam passed out in the garden he had allegedly just demolished that several fire trucks and police officers arrived.

He was arrested and taken to the Adams County Jail.

Before he was arrested, a 911 dispatcher could be heard in audio obtained from Broadcastify and cited by the outlet reporting active property damage.

‘We have multiple callers who state that he was damaging property and throwing rocks,’ the dispatcher said.

The lengthy response time prompted Aurora Mayor Pro Tem Alison Coombs to share her concerns.

‘I’m very concerned that active, in-progress threats and property destruction are considered low-acuity calls that don’t merit an immediate response,’ Coombs said.

Woldemariam had been arrested five days earlier on criminal mischief allegations in Douglas County in a separate incident, Denver7 reported.

His alleged vandalism spree began on July 27, when he was accused of ripping down American and Colorado flags outside the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office substation, according to CBS News.

The following day, he was accused of entering Harar Market in Aurora and using a rock to smash artwork inside the shop.

Market owner Wend Wesen told the outlet that he no longer feels safe.

‘I hear like a bump, like a big bump sounding. I’m like, ‘What happened?’ And when I go out, he was dragging this picture right here, and he was dragging all the way outside, and he was hitting with a big stone,’ Wesen said.

‘And I was like, ‘What are you doing, sir?’ He’s like, ‘I don’t like him. I don’t like him,’ and he kept hitting.’

Wesen said the suspect destroyed multiple Jesus posters.

‘It’s not safe anymore,’ Wesen said. ‘That’s why I was upset.’

The shop owner said police did not arrive until the next day, when Woldemariam happened to return to the store and allegedly attempt to destroy more artwork.

Police caught him but did not arrest him. Instead, he was issued a summons for criminal mischief, according to the outlet.

The alleged rampage continued on August 3, when the Aurora Police Department said he threw a rock through the window of a Starbucks.

A warrant was issued for his arrest that day, but he was taken into custody by Douglas County authorities in connection with the flag incident.

However, he was released on bond two days later.

Two days after his release, he allegedly threw rocks through the windows of Nugg’s Ice Cream on Colfax.

The alleged incident ultimately led to his most recent arrest after he was accused of destroying the urban garden.

Woldemariam currently faces three criminal mischief cases in Colorado, according to the outlet.

According to court records, he was found incompetent to stand trial in 2013 on similar charges he faced in Denver. That case was later dismissed, CBS reported.

In a 2014 assault case in Virginia, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

According to the outlet, Woldemariam remains in custody.

The criticism from locals comes years after the Aurora Police Department made national headlines in connection with the death of Elijah McClain. 

McClain, a 23-year-old black man, went into cardiac arrest following his run-in with police in Aurora on August 24, 2019, and died in a hospital six days later. 

McClain was walking home from a corner store with an iced tea in his hand on August 24, 2019, when he was stopped by police officers responding to a 911 call about a man in a ski mask who was waving his arms in the air.

McClain’s family said he wore the ski mask because anemia made him unusually susceptible to the cold, and McClain was apparently listening to music on headphones and dancing as he walked – also the reason, he explained to cops, that he did not initially comply with their verbal commands.

When the paramedics arrived, they reportedly injected McClain with ketamine, a hallucinogenic anesthetic, and seven minutes later he went into cardiac arrest.

He died at the hospital six days later.

A subsequent internal investigation by Aurora Police found that the cops had no reasonable grounds to stop him.

Aurora police officer Randy Roedema was convicted of homicide and third degree assault and two other officers, Nathan Woodyard and Jason Rosenblatt, were acquitted.

Two Denver-area paramedics, Jeremy Cooper and Peter Cichuniec, were found guilty of criminally negligent homicide. 

Aurora has also been riddled with Tren de Aragua (TdA) gangsters, a problem the city’s police department had previously denied in the past.

Members of TdA, as the South American mob is known to federal authorities, seeped into the US in recent years, hidden among the 1 million Venezuelans who have arrived in the US under the Biden Administration. 

TdA had taken over at least three apartment buildings in Aurora in 2024, exploiting and terrorizing their migrant neighbors. 

The gang has been described as the ‘epitome of evil’ and is best known in their homeland for sex trafficking girls and women and exploiting their fellow countrymen, have now set up strongholds in Denver, New York, Miami, El Paso and Dallas.

Since arriving in the United States, TdA is accused of taking part in shootings, shake-downs of other migrants who had been told to pay rent to the gang instead of the property, beatings, and robberies in Colorado.
