Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša has accused the United Nations of using inconsistent standards when addressing international conflicts, saying the focus on Gaza has eclipsed Russia’s war in Ukraine and other humanitarian emergencies. He also disclosed that President Donald Trump has pledged to visit Slovenia, the birthplace of first lady Melania Trump.

In an exclusive interview with News Media on Wednesday on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, Janša said the organization should broaden its diplomatic focus and address conflicts around the world instead of directing most of its attention toward one Middle Eastern crisis.

“We have to get rid of double standards,” Janša said. He argued that the U.N. should use its diplomatic, financial and security resources consistently, rather than concentrating its energy on one conflict while other wars and humanitarian disasters receive less attention.

Janša said he was surprised by the extent to which Gaza dominated opening-day speeches at the General Assembly. By comparison, he noted, Ukraine received considerably less attention despite the war’s proximity to Slovenia and the rest of Europe.

For Slovenia and its European neighbors, Janša said, Russia’s invasion remains a direct and urgent security concern. He added that there is still no convincing sign that Moscow is ready to negotiate an end to the conflict.

The Slovenian prime minister said the U.N. was created to help prevent and resolve wars, and should therefore avoid allowing its agenda to be dominated by events in a single part of the world.

He also cited the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and other humanitarian crises as examples of challenges that deserve international scrutiny, stressing that nations face widely different security threats and humanitarian needs.

Janša said he plans to make the issue of what he calls U.N. double standards a central point of his own General Assembly speech on Thursday.

His remarks come as Slovenia’s foreign policy undergoes a notable change, particularly in its relations with Israel.

During the previous administration led by Prime Minister Robert Golob, Slovenia recognized a Palestinian state in June 2024 and introduced an arms embargo on Israel in July 2025. That government said the measures were intended to protect Palestinian civilians and support international law.

After returning to office, Janša has moved to rebuild and deepen Slovenia’s ties with Israel, signaling a departure from the previous government’s more critical posture toward the country.

Earlier this month, Israel inaugurated its first resident embassy in Slovenia. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also traveled to the country for discussions on closer political and economic ties. The two governments signed a cooperation plan extending through 2030 and covering education, science, culture, youth and sports.

Janša characterized the policy as a restoration of the countries’ historically friendly relationship, rather than a sweeping change in Slovenia’s diplomatic direction.

Janša further criticized European governments for what he described as a failure to see the strategic links among Iran, Russia, the war in Ukraine and conflicts in the Middle East.

He said he has supported Iran’s opposition movement for decades and maintained that a durable peace in the Middle East will be difficult to achieve without political change in Tehran.

The Slovenian leader accused several European governments of applying their principles unevenly—backing Ukraine while adopting positions toward Iran that, in his view, overlook Tehran’s partnership with Moscow. He pointed to Ireland and Spain, along with Slovenia’s previous government before this year’s change in leadership.

Janša also alleged that some European politicians have emphasized the Palestinian cause to draw attention away from economic and political difficulties at home, especially as elections approach.

The prime minister’s visit to New York also provided an opportunity to strengthen Slovenia’s relationship with Washington, a relationship that carries a personal dimension because of the country’s most prominent American connection: First Lady Melania Trump.

Born in Slovenia in 1970, Melania Trump grew up in the town of Sevnica before moving to the United States and becoming the nation’s second foreign-born first lady.

The prime minister praised Melania Trump’s work on initiatives for children, describing her role in the White House as a source of pride for many Slovenians. He said his wife met the first lady for the first time on Tuesday and that he also spoke briefly with President Trump.

According to Janša, he invited Trump to visit Slovenia and received a positive response. “He promised he’ll come,” Janša told News Media.

Taylor Swift appears poised to enter a dramatic fictional love triangle with two Hollywood heavyweights in the music video for her upcoming single, Patient Zero.

The 36-year-old singer appears alongside Dakota Johnson, also 36, and Colin Farrell, 50, in a 13-second preview shown on CBS Mornings on Thursday. The complete video is scheduled to premiere during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

The teaser begins with Swift plunging beneath the water in a striking black dress.

In another atmospheric shot, the singer is filmed from behind as she stands beside a Greek-style statue, gazing through the window of a stark modernist concrete house.

Johnson and Farrell then appear in a series of somber scenes with the pop star.

The three characters exchange hostile looks while dressed in sleek black clothing. The preview then cuts to two women, seen from behind, standing before a grave in a snow-covered cemetery.

The teaser does not reveal whether Farrell’s character is the person buried there. However, its tense score and bleak imagery suggest Swift may once again be exploring the fallout of a damaging relationship.

Off-screen, however, Swift’s famously eventful romantic history appears to have given way to a quieter chapter. She married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 36, at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on July 3.

Hundreds of A-list guests reportedly attended the lavish ceremony, which was protected by such intense secrecy that no official photographs of Swift and Kelce at the wedding have surfaced.

The brief preview immediately sent fans into a frenzy, with some comparing its sensual, cinematic mood to the Fifty Shades of Grey films.

Swift had left fans speculating she was about to drop her wedding photos when her website launched a mysterious two-hour countdown on Tuesday.

Swift, known for her previous countdowns and Easter Egg messages to fans, has shared past, similar cryptic posts eventually teasing the release of new albums, new photoshoots and limited edition merchandise.

Not content with tantalizing fans on her website, Swift also changed both her Twitter and Instagram bio to read: ‘And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u’ along with a fire heart, with zeros replacing the letter O.

As 2pm ET struck, Swift revealed the cover artwork for her new single, the title of which appeared to be in homage to the star being described as ‘patient zero’ for emotional contagion in a 2024 LA Times article.

She posted a sultry new snap, captioned: ‘I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single “Patient Zero” will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.’

The photos showed Swift draped in revealing black dresses, while she sported smoky eye make-up and her signature red lip, seemingly launching a new era. 

Fans were able to preorder three different $3.99 versions of the track, including acoustic and piano singles.

The gothic shoot, which appeared to have taken place in a crypt, led fans to speculate that Swift’s single could be from ‘a sister album to the life of a showgirl and it’s the death of a showgirl.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Swift’s representative for further comment – and has yet to hear back.

Ahead of the announcement, fans had quipped ‘plot twist it’s taylor and trav’s wedding photos behind the countdown’ and ‘the countdown is for the wedding photos!!’

Others speculated Swift was set to release a deluxe version of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, while many said the three zeros were signifying angel numbers, signaling a ‘new beginning’ for the star.

Swift’s last album release came in October 2025 with the release of The Life of a Showgirl, while her most recent single, I Knew It, I Knew You, from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, topped charts in June. 

The Giants may be preparing to make a run at Jimmy Garoppolo.

New York has “real” interest in the veteran quarterback as it searches for help following Jaxson Dart’s season-ending left knee injury, The Post’s Ryan Dunleavy confirmed.

According to Dunleavy, citing a league source, Garoppolo could sit near the top of the Giants’ list of potential additions. The 34-year-old is currently a free agent.

NFL Network also reported that the Giants are among the few teams Garoppolo would seriously consider joining.

Dart sustained damage to his MCL, PCL and meniscus after taking a hit to his left knee during Monday’s 28-6 loss to the Rams. The injury leaves New York trying to keep its season on track with limited quarterback options.

The Giants signed Jameis Winston to a two-year, $13 million extension before the regular season began, but his uneven history as a starter remains a concern.

Winston’s near-full-game appearance Monday did little to ease those concerns. He repeatedly missed receivers high and low, including on an interception that was nowhere near a Giants target.

Jake Haener, 27, is the team’s third-string quarterback and is expected to back up Winston on Sunday. However, he is not viewed as a reliable solution if Winston is forced to miss significant time.

That is where Garoppolo could become part of the Giants’ plans.

Garoppolo has not attempted a pass since 2024 and has started just one game over the past two seasons with the Rams. Still, he brings extensive experience and a proven ability to operate an NFL offense.

He guided the 49ers to the Super Bowl during the 2019 season, though San Francisco ultimately fell to Kansas City, 31-20. The 49ers led for much of the second half before the Chiefs erupted for three touchdowns in the final six minutes.

There are legitimate questions about how much Garoppolo has left. His most recent run as a starter, with the Raiders in 2023, ended with him being benched. Even so, he has a résumé that few of the Giants’ other available options can match.

New York has already shown a willingness to lean on a run-first approach, which could reduce the pressure on a veteran quarterback to produce eye-popping passing numbers.

Garoppolo remained unsigned after spending two seasons with the Rams, appearing in four games overall and making one start in 2024. That start came in the Week 18 finale on Jan. 5, 2025.

He did not throw a pass in his three other appearances last year.

“You know, I think I would probably,’’ Giants coach John Harbaugh said when asked about adding a veteran quarterback, “but you’ve kind of got to go with what’s available as well. And you never know, if a younger guy becomes available that’s interesting, that would fit — and I think we’re looking at all that.’’

Garoppolo would also offer a more careful approach with the football than Winston. His career interception rate is 2.7 percent.

Winston, who led the NFL with 30 interceptions in 2019, has already thrown three interceptions on 93 attempts with the Giants, giving him a 3.5 percent interception rate.

Winston will at least have a favorable opportunity for his first start of the season Sunday, when the Giants host a vulnerable Tennessee defense.

A former “American Idol” contestant repeatedly spoke about wanting his wife dead and once told his mistress he was “thinking about ways to kill her,” the woman testified Wednesday during his Ohio murder trial.

Alleigha Botner told jurors she carried on an affair with Caleb Flynn for about 18 months and had issued him an ultimatum about their relationship just weeks before the killing. She said Flynn’s remarks about his wife, Ashley Flynn, became increasingly alarming in the months before Ashley was fatally shot inside the couple’s Tipp City home.

“At first it was, ‘I want her dead. I wish she was gone,’” Botner testified.

Later, she said, Flynn told her: “If I could kill her and not go to jail, I would.”

According to Botner, the threats eventually became even more explicit.

“One night he was up really late thinking about — told me that he was thinking about ways to kill her,” Botner said.

Flynn made comments about wanting Ashley dead at least once a month, Botner testified.

Prosecutors later showed Botner thousands of messages exchanged during the affair. In one message attributed to Flynn, sent in February 2025, he wrote: “I need her to die, to cheat again, to leave.”

Other messages attributed to Flynn said, “I want her dead and gone” and, in response to Botner asking what she could do for him, “kill her.”

Flynn is accused of shooting Ashley in the back of the head inside their home on Feb. 16, then arranging the scene to suggest that an intruder had broken in. He has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and related charges.

Botner also testified that Flynn possessed a gun before the killing. She recalled that he once showed her a firearm he kept in the center console of his truck.

“He showed me a gun,” she said.

Flynn told Botner the weapon was stored in the console, although she could not describe it because she saw it only once.

The gun prosecutors say Flynn used to kill Ashley has never been found, despite extensive searches of the family’s home, nearby woods, storm drains and other locations.

Jurors also heard that Flynn and Botner regularly deleted messages during their relationship.

When asked how often she helped Flynn delete data from his devices, Botner replied, “Multiple times.”

“One of them being the night before Ashley was murdered,” she testified.

Botner later testified that she used ChatGPT that night to research whether messages documenting the affair could be permanently deleted and sent Flynn screenshots of the results.

She told jurors she feared the affair could surface during a divorce and cost her her job. Prosecutors established that Botner sent the screenshots about 5:47 p.m. Feb. 15, hours before Ashley was killed.

Their relationship began turning personal in March 2024 and became sexual roughly two months later, Botner told jurors. She recalled Flynn telling her he hated Ashley, viewed his wife as little more than a “roommate” and remained in the marriage because of their two daughters.

Botner acknowledged knowing Flynn was married when the relationship became sexual and admitted she knew what they were doing was wrong.

“I never morally justified it,” she testified. “I just did it. Even while I knew it was wrong.”

The two exchanged roughly 107,000 messages over about a year — nearly 300 per day on average — while routinely deleting their conversations.

By January, Botner testified, she had grown tired of waiting and gave Flynn a final deadline: leave Ashley by Jan. 11, or she would move on with her life and end their relationship.

He did not leave.

Botner stopped communicating with Flynn until Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day and two days before Ashley was killed.

That day, she testified, Flynn told her he was “filing [for divorce] from Ashley” and was “actually leaving her this time.”

The two later met at Christian Life Center, where they had initially met through the church’s worship ministry. During that conversation, Botner recalled Flynn telling her he had already spoken with Ashley and told his wife he was divorcing her.

By the following night, Botner testified, Flynn was still telling her he planned to end the marriage Feb. 16.

“He said it’ll be a day I never forget,” she recalled.

Their communications continued past midnight, with Flynn allegedly telling her, “Tomorrow is a big day,” “I choose you” and that he was “about to be free.” Hours later, Ashley was dead. Botner told jurors she understood those comments at the time to mean Flynn was finally going through with the divorce.

Botner expected to hear from Flynn first thing that morning but instead received an Instagram message from a fellow church congregant asking whether she had heard about Ashley.

The congregant sent her a news story about Ashley’s death.

“My heart started pounding,” Botner testified. “It just seemed like too much of a coincidence that the day he’s divorcing her, she’s just dead all of a sudden.”

Botner testified that she immediately messaged Flynn.

“I said something like to Caleb, ‘What’s going on? Were you involved? Is this real?’” she recalled.

Flynn did not respond, Botner testified. She acknowledged deleting the message because she believed investigators would search his phone and feared they would discover the affair.

Botner admitted Wednesday that she initially lied to the FBI about her relationship with Flynn when investigators interviewed her days after the killing.

“I was selfishly afraid that my reputation was going to be ruined and that I was going to lose my job,” she testified. “And now that there was a murder attached, I didn’t want to be attached to that in any way.”

She began revealing more about the relationship after investigators told her they had found text messages on Ashley’s phone, Botner testified.

Prosecutors asked Botner how she feels about Flynn today, and she said, “I hate him.”

When asked why, Botner responded, “Because I believe that he murdered his wife.”
