A dispute over parking outside an Austin home has grown into a wave of protests after the homeowner highlighted that the property had cost $1.5 million.

The confrontation began when Bri, a student at nearby Huston-Tillotson University, a historically Black college in Austin, challenged a couple who were allegedly warning commuters not to park outside their East 9th Street home.

Video Bri recorded on the couple’s front steps spread rapidly online, prompting students and community members to gather outside the property over the weekend.

The footage opens with Bri accusing the couple of leaving notes on vehicles telling drivers to park somewhere else.

‘Excuse me, do y’all live here? Y’all know that it’s legal to park right here, right?’

The woman and Bri trade words before the disagreement rapidly becomes more heated.

‘We paid $1.5 million for our house, y’all’s graduation rates are 25 percent,’ the woman said.

Bri responded by noting that the couple lived in a historically Black neighborhood. The homeowner replied: ‘This is our neighborhood.’

Bri repeatedly called the woman a Karen, while the homeowner threatened to contact police.

‘I can’t wait to put this online so everybody can know how you moved into this neighborhood and how you act towards the people who lived here,’ Bri said.

The argument became increasingly personal, with Bri repeatedly shouting at the husband to ‘get your wife.’

In the caption accompanying the video, Bri accused the couple of ‘harassing the Black students and professors’ who attempted to park near the house.

‘Keep in mind people have been parking here for YEARS with no complaints and the neighbors are friendly and understanding,’ she wrote.

‘The fact that she degraded our school and said she paid 1.5 million dollars to gentrify our neighborhood and said we only have a 25 percent graduation rate is SO racist and disgusting.’

Bri said the woman was using her privilege against her as a Black woman.

‘Please if you know who this is, alert her job so people can be aware of how she behaves towards Black people,’ she added. ‘We are SO tired of the disrespect and danger to our lives.’

As the video continued to gain attention online, demonstrators gathered outside the home over the weekend. Protesters carried signs and chanted, ‘You bought a house, not our history, East Austin is ours,’ according to FOX 7.

Neighbors told the outlet that police officers were at the scene of the demonstrations, but the protests remained peaceful.

The City of Austin’s Transportation and Public Works Department also outlined the parking regulations along East 9th Street.

‘Parking is allowed on those blocks of East 9th Street. While there are some areas where drivers are not allowed to park — such as around corner clearances, at intersections and in front of driveways — the curb is otherwise open for public parking,’ the department told the outlet.

The dispute has left Instagram users outraged, prompting thousands to side with Bri following her upload.

‘Yelling AND getting in your face? Sista, I’m sorry, but I’m glad it was you. That lady would’ve got West Coast cussed out immediately omg. SO GLAD you’re okay and safe. Those people are demonic,’ one user wrote.

‘Notice how quickly she brought up the graduation rates of the hbcu next to the house she just gentrified,’ another added.

‘The street belongs to the city. No one cares about how much you pay for your house. Quit writing on folks cars,’ a third said.

A criminal informant described by investigators as “extremely reliable” provided information about the missing knife believed to have been used in the 1994 murders of OJ Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ronald Goldman. Newly unsealed federal court records also say he offered details about alleged drug use by the former couple.

Simpson was acquitted of the killings in October 1995, but a civil jury found him financially liable for the wrongful deaths of Brown and Goldman 16 months later. The murder weapon was never recovered, prompting speculation that another person may have been involved. Simpson continued to deny responsibility until his death in 2024 at age 76.

The new details come from a 1996 letter written by an assistant US attorney to a federal judge, which was recently unsealed.

Obtained by The Daily Mail, the letter sought a reduced sentence for convicted drug trafficker and prison escapee Joseph “Joey” Ippolito, who was identified as a federal informant. Along with information about organized crime and narcotics, Ippolito reportedly told authorities about “Mr. Simpson’s alleged domestic violence, the Simpsons’ narcotics usage, Mr. Simpson’s attempted flight from justice, and his disposal of the murder weapon.”

According to the letter, Ippolito passed the information to Los Angeles police detectives investigating the double murder. He was never called as a witness during Simpson’s criminal trial.

“While Ippolito ultimately was not called as a witness he was arrested and began to cooperate as that trial drew to a close my conversations with the Los Angeles authorities indicate that Ippolito’s information was, at the very least, very helpful to their case,” the assistant US attorney wrote in the letter, which was unsealed at the request of The New York Times.

Ippolito died in 2006, but his brother Sam did speak to the Times. The newspaper reported that the brothers were staying in West Hollywood on the night of the murders and that Joey left to help a friend before returning with what appeared to be blood on his hands and a bag holding a heavy object.

However, Sam gave The Daily Mail a different account. He denied making that statement, saying instead that his fugitive brother was “in hiding” and had “not [been] out past 10.” The murders, in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood, are believed to have taken place after 10 p.m. on June 12, 1994.

The Times also alleged that Sam had sought payment from the newspaper for his account.

According to the Times, the reporter declined, after which Ippolito withdrew his account and said he “was offered a ton of money” to tell the story to another publication. Sam Ippolito was also among the people featured in the upcoming Peacock documentary, as The Daily Mail reported last month.

In a text message to The Daily Mail, Sam denied asking The New York Times for money.

Joey Ippolito owned a restaurant in Santa Monica and was a close associate of Al Cowlings, Simpson’s longtime friend and former teammate. On June 17, 1994, Cowlings drove a white Ford Bronco with Simpson in the back seat during the widely televised low-speed police chase, which ended when Simpson surrendered at his Brentwood home.

Cowlings’ attorney confirmed to the Boston Herald in August 1994 that Ippolito had previously helped Cowlings overcome a freebase cocaine habit. In return, Cowlings asked a federal judge to grant Ippolito bail while he awaited trial on drug charges in 1993.

After receiving a 10-year prison sentence, Ippolito escaped on May 6, 1994, from a minimum-security prison camp on a military base in Pensacola, Florida, according to a Boston Herald report published at the time. The newly unsealed letter says he became a federal informant after being recaptured.

The letter describes the information Ippolito gave investigators in broad terms but does not provide specific details. It also does not say whether he implicated himself or anyone else in the killings.

The Herald previously reported that the FBI and federal prosecutors had telephone records documenting calls from Ippolito’s Santa Monica restaurant to Simpson’s Brentwood estate.

As for Ippolito’s alleged mafia connections, federal law enforcement officials claimed he was a member of the DeCavalcante crime family of New Jersey with ties to New York’s Lucchese family.

Ippolito was ultimately given credit for time served, as the government agreed not to prosecute him for drug distribution in California for the five years prior to his arrest.

He was released from custody in 1998, according to records reviewed by The Times.

Lead investigator Tom Lange told the Times that he recalled seeing Ippolito’s name, but never considered him a serious suspect. Lange maintains that Simpson acted alone in the double murder.

The murder investigation was never solved and remains open with the LAPD.

But other investigators do believe Simpson had an accomplice.

A former New York State prosecutor and FBI profiler who went on to write and produce CBS’ Criminal Minds, Jim Clemente supported the theory in a recent podcast interview with media personality Tom Zenner and Kato Kaelin, Simpson’s former tenant and a crucial witness in his murder trial.

According to Clemente, evidence points to another attacker at the scene.

For starters, he explained that the presence of multiple stabbing victims always increases the likelihood of multiple attackers, simply because it’s difficult for one person to commit both crimes quickly and in the same space.

The bigger clues, Clemente explained, were the defensive wounds left on Goldman’s legs.

‘With the cuts in his jeans, in his pants that he was wearing at the time, the knife wounds could only have been made if both of his legs were elevated and bent and straightened out like he was kicking,’ Clemente said.

‘And the only way that we behaviorally could figure out how that could happen is if somebody has him in a bear hug from behind and he’s being stabbed by somebody in the front.

‘He’s kicking, he’s fighting for his life,’ Clemente continued. ‘It’s a horrible, horrible scene.’

Curiously, Clemente explained, Goldman did not have defensive wounds on his arms.

‘If he was punching and kicking, you would see the same kinds of wounds through his clothing on his arms because the person with the knife would have been lashing out,’ Clemente said. ‘He wouldn’t just stab his legs.’

Rather, according to Clemente, Goldman’s ‘arms are being held and his arms were being pinned and that’s why he resorted to his legs only.’

As for why Simpson would bring an accomplice to murder his wife, Clemente suggested the presence of the couple’s two children at her condominium was a good reason.

‘What if the kids aren’t in bed yet?’ Clemente asked, rhetorically. ‘What if the kids wake up and come down?’

Simpson continued to deny any involvement in the Brown-Goldman murders until his death from cancer at age 76 in 2024, but the theory he committed the crimes with an accomplice is nothing new.

Recently, The Daily Mail revealed an upcoming Peacock documentary investigating the theory that Simpson had a mob-linked accomplice in Ippolito.

Peacock spokespeople declined to comment on The Daily Mail’s reporting at the time. The project’s upcoming release has since been confirmed by other outlets.

Speaking with Zenner, Clemente also challenged the notion that the murders were simply a crime of passion.

Rather, he insisted Brown was the intended victim of a carefully planned murder.

Goldman, sadly, was just returning the pair of glasses Brown left at his restaurant when he stumbled upon the crime that was taking place.

‘Whoever committed this crime had an extreme amount of rage and anger in them,’ Clemente told Zenner and Kaelin. ‘And they have been fantasizing about this for a long time. They planned this. This is not a disorganized crime. This is an organized crime. Which means that the offender thought about this, thought it out carefully, thought about every angle, knew when she would be vulnerable.

‘Of course, he thought she would be alone at that moment, but because she left the glasses there at the restaurant, somebody else showed up. That is an unexpected result.’

Asked if he had any clue about the accomplice’s identity, Clemente said he had a ‘pretty good idea’ who was with Simpson but stopped short of revealing a name.

Of course, there is no statute of limitations on murder, so if such an accomplice is still alive, they could theoretically face justice.

Simpson defense attorney Johnnie Cochran also posited an accomplice theory during the murder, saying Brown and Goldman may have been killed by drug dealers looking for her friend, Faye Resnick, who was battling a cocaine problem.

However, at least one member of Brown’s family remains skeptical that Simpson had an accomplice.

‘I’ve heard about the conspiracy theory for years,’ Brown’s sister told the Daily Mail by email. ‘To me it’s a bunch of BS.’

Ten years ago, Brock Turner became a national symbol of outrage after he was released from jail after serving only three months for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster following a fraternity party.

The 31-year-old registered sex offender has since advanced quietly at the Ohio manufacturing company that hired him after his conviction. He has also bought a home in the leafy Dayton suburb where he was raised, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The former Stanford swimmer has returned to public attention as a lawsuit involving the so-called “Cornell 7” renews debate over the way colleges and universities respond to allegations of sexual assault.

The seven men, all former members of Cornell University’s now-banned Chi Phi fraternity chapter, deny the allegations, and no criminal charges have been filed. New York Governor Kathy Hochul has appointed state Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor.

Turner was competing for Stanford’s swim team when the widely publicized 2015 assault occurred. When he was last photographed in 2019, he was living with his parents and earning about $12 an hour on the factory floor.

Today, the clean-cut former inmate, who now uses a different name, is listed as a supplier quality specialist at the same company: Tark, a Dayton-area manufacturer of pumps and cooling systems for medical equipment. Public records show he paid $162,500 for a house in Oakwood, Ohio.

As Turner has rebuilt his life, however, the seemingly close-knit family that rallied around him during his arrest and highly publicized court case has fractured.

His parents, who urged the judge to show leniency and pleaded for their son’s release, divorced in April after almost 38 years of marriage. Turner’s mother says none of her children now speaks to her.

When the Daily Mail recently saw Turner going about his daily routine, he appeared far removed from the period when his image dominated news coverage around the world.

“I have no interest in speaking,” Turner told the Daily Mail shortly after stepping out of a 2015 Toyota parked outside his home.

In 2016, he received a six-month county jail sentence, despite prosecutors seeking six years. He served only half of that term, prompting international condemnation and eventually contributing to the recall of Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky.

Turner’s victim, Chanel Miller, became widely known after millions read her courtroom statement. She revealed her identity in 2019 through her bestselling memoir, Know My Name, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award. In January, she published The Moon Without Stars, a middle-grade novel, and appeared at this year’s Library of Congress National Book Festival.

Turner remains a lifetime registered sex offender in Ohio and is required to report in person to the Greene County Sheriff every 90 days. His employer is listed as Tark.

The Daily Mail photographed Turner leaving the factory in June 2019, when he held an entry-level quality-control position paying approximately $12 an hour. A colleague said he had initially joined the company in shipping and receiving.

At 23, Turner was living with his parents and driving a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica.

Property records now show that he purchased his Oakwood home for $162,500 in December 2021. The two-bedroom, one-bathroom property is in the same Dayton suburb where he grew up and attended high school.

An online professional listing now gives his title as Strategic Sourcing Supplier Quality Specialist, a role that typically pays between $55,000 and $70,000 a year in the Dayton area.

Turner has an office-based position overseeing the quality of parts bought in from outside suppliers.

Tark was bought in 2024 by Laird Thermal Systems, a thermal management group majority-owned by German private equity firm Bregal Unternehmerkapital, which then renamed itself Tark Thermal Solutions in 2025.

Despite appearing to thrive in his career, Turner’s family life has taken a sad turn.

Court records obtained by the Daily Mail show that Dan Turner filed for divorce from Carleen in Greene County Common Pleas Court on August 4, 2025, after more than 37 years of marriage.

The couple, who married in Dayton on June 11, 1988, both cited incompatibility, and Carleen filed a counterclaim seeking spousal support and asking for her legal fees to be paid.

After a pretrial hearing and a settlement conference, the case was resolved at a final hearing before Magistrate Amanda Holmes, with a divorce decree and separation agreement filed on April 13.

Under the agreement, neither had to pay each other spousal support and each coughed up their own legal bills.

Dan, 64, who wrote a notorious letter telling Judge Persky that his son had paid ‘a steep price’ for ’20 minutes of action,’ kept the family home in Bellbrook, Ohio, where Brock was living with his parents in 2019.

Property records show Carleen signed her share of the house over to Dan in April and that he paid her a lump sum for half of the equity.

Carleen, 64, a former surgical nurse, was entitled to half of the monthly federal pension Dan earned in his career as an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and half of the payments from an annuity in his name, court records show. 

Dan also agreed to pay her $10,000 to even out the division of their belongings. His list of possessions to keep ran to a full page – including the televisions, kitchen appliances, a 16ft boat, a kayak, dog kennels and gym equipment.

Hers ran to four lines: a sewing machine, her remaining clothes and family photographs, a silver-framed mirror and an antique dry sink.

Court papers show she has since moved out of the family home, with the court filings making zero mention of Brock or their other adult children.

Approached by the Daily Mail at her new apartment just two miles from Brock’s new home, Carleen said: ‘I absolutely do not want to talk, sorry you came all this way.’

But in posts on her public Facebook page, Carleen has given her own account of the split, simply saying: ‘Divorce sucks.’

‘I will never recover. We were together for over 40 years,’ she wrote in August. 

Carleen has also claimed that none of her children speak to her, which she put down to her drinking and to what she described as her husband’s obsessive-compulsive disorder.

‘Dan and I stopped having fun when his OCD routines took over and I started drinking to escape his OCD and he divorced me,’ she added in the same post.

In another she wrote: ‘I am so sad my kids ignore me the man I spent 40 years with divorced me.

‘My sister gave up on me when my family did not want to go during covid and I clearly should not have listened to them because it destroyed my time with my only support my sister yet. Here I am. Alone.’

In 2019, Carleen told the Daily Mail outside the family home that her son was ‘just trying to get on with his life.’

As a 19-year-old freshman on a swimming scholarship, Turner was caught assaulting Miller, then 22, behind a dumpster near the Kappa Alpha fraternity house in the early hours of January 18, 2015.

Two Swedish graduate students, Peter Jonsson and Carl-Fredrik Arndt, were cycling past when they saw what was happening. They chased Turner and pinned him down until sheriff’s deputies arrived.

He was initially charged with five offenses, but two rape charges were withdrawn before trial.

In March 2016, a jury convicted him of three felony counts of sexual assault: assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated or unconscious person, sexual penetration of an intoxicated person and sexual penetration of an unconscious person.

He faced up to 14 years in state prison, and prosecutors asked for six.

But in June 2016, Judge Persky sentenced him to six months in county jail and three years’ probation, citing the ‘severe impact’ that prison would have on him.

He was released after three months, on September 2, 2016.

The sentence caused international outrage, fueled by Miller’s victim impact statement – published online under the pseudonym Emily Doe and read millions of times – and by a letter from Dan Turner to the judge.

In it, Dan wrote that his son’s life had been ‘deeply altered forever’ and that jail would be ‘a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life.’

Miller told the court: ‘The fact that Brock was a star athlete at a prestigious university should not be seen as an entitlement to leniency.’

Persky was recalled by Santa Clara County voters in June 2018, the first California judge removed by voters in 86 years, and California tightened its laws – introducing mandatory prison for sexually assaulting an unconscious or intoxicated person and broadening the legal definition of rape.

Turner’s appeal was rejected in August 2018, and his Ohio probation ended in September 2019. He was banned for life by USA Swimming and from Stanford’s campus.

He moved back to his parents’ home after his release and registered as a sex offender in Greene County, Ohio, in September 2016. The terms of his probation, which ended in September 2019, banned him from drinking alcohol or going into bars.

Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer told the Daily Mail in 2019 that Turner had complied with his registration requirements: ‘He’s come in, does what he’s supposed to do and moves on.’

Azra Alagic had recently turned 50 and married for the second time when an unsettling thought surfaced: “My mortality is just around the corner.”

The realisation came at an awkward time — during her honeymoon in Italy. “My husband and I were exploring these beautiful ancient villages, where there are stairs everywhere, and I started feeling a niggle in my knee,” Azra, now 57, tells the Daily Mail. “Then it began collapsing underneath me.”

At first, she dismissed it. “I thought, ‘This is ridiculous. I’m a fit woman.’” But the problem steadily worsened throughout the trip. “I realised my body was beginning to stop responding the way it once had.”

Returning home to Australia brought another deeply unsettling surprise.

“When we got home and I looked at the wedding photographs, they weren’t what I had expected,” Azra says. “I burst into tears because I looked so much older than I thought I did.”

A few days later, a friend made the moment even more uncomfortable over coffee. Reaching across the table to touch the lines on Azra’s forehead, she suggested: “Az, just get a little Botox here. It will make such a difference.”

The Gold Coast mother of three had also been putting off a number of persistent health concerns.

“I’d experienced migraines since my twenties, and they would leave me bedridden for at least three days,” she says. Initially, the attacks came before each menstrual cycle, but they became more frequent as she grew older. “I was bloated and looked six months pregnant. I had gas and reflux. My body was clearly unhappy, and it was time to start listening to it.”

A former journalist then working in the corporate sector, Azra began investigating ways to slow the ageing process. Her research introduced her to biohacking — and she embraced the movement wholeheartedly.

Azra is now recognised as one of Australia’s leading female biohackers. She is also the founder of Biohackher, a longevity brand focused on helping women extend their “healthspan” through smart technology and science-backed strategies.

Azra describes biohacking as “taking control of your biology”. That can involve changes to diet, exercise and other lifestyle habits designed to support a healthier, more youthful life for longer.

The concept is often linked to the so-called “biohacking bros” — men on social media who promote elaborate, and frequently costly, methods of “optimising” their health.

Bryan Johnson, the former technology chief executive, is one prominent example. He has spent millions on his personal biohacking programme, monitoring more than 100 biomarkers each day and undergoing regular medical interventions in an effort to slow ageing.

PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel has also backed several longevity research initiatives, including investigations into young blood transfusions, known as parabiosis, as a possible anti-ageing treatment.

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Alphabet, Google’s parent company, have likewise supported biohacking and longevity efforts.

“What do they all have in common? They’re men,” Azra says. “Some of their work is helping move the field forward, but much of the research reflects male priorities — extreme performance, muscle optimisation and pursuing longevity at any cost.”

Challenging that male-dominated image of biohacking has become one of Azra’s central missions.

“At first, I followed all the biohacking bros because there weren’t many female biohackers,” she says. “But as I learned more, I began to think, ‘Hang on — this doesn’t necessarily feel right for me as a woman.’”

As she investigated approaches better suited to female biology, the first biohacking practice Azra abandoned was cold plunging.

‘My husband and I would have competitions of who could stay in the cold plunge for longest,’ she says. ‘But that’s not necessarily great for the female biology because it can increase our cortisol levels – and ladies, we’re already stressed enough!’

Many biohacking trends come with a hefty price tag.

‘Yes, it would be great to have your own personal hyperbaric oxygen chamber at home to be able to use on a daily basis,’ she says. ‘In an ideal world, that’s mostly unaffordable for most people.’

Despite what the biohacking bros might tell you, she insists, extending your health span can be low-cost or free.

‘My number one biohack is sleep,’ she says. ‘I know that can feel unachievable for women, especially with young children. But sleep is really important for reducing inflammation, for eliminating metabolic waste out of the brain, and for making sure that we retain memory.’

Her recommended ‘sleep hactivities’ are practical and, for the most part, low-cost: set a lunchtime coffee curfew, ditch screens before bed, and try supplements like magnesium glycinate that can help relax the nervous system.

For women, she also recommends avoiding ‘long, drawn-out workouts’ that increase cortisol, increasing protein, lifting weights and reducing alcohol without having to opt for teetotalism.

When it came to supporting herself through menopause, she opted for ‘an alternative approach’ that included a high-protein diet, regular saunas to manage hot flashes, and Black cohosh – a flowering plant native to North America. ‘I took this during the peak of my menopause symptoms to help manage hot flashes and night sweats.’

Despite not opting for hormone replacement therapy, she is not all-natural. ‘Yes, I’ve had Botox done,’ she says. ‘Absolutely, because if I don’t, I look like I’ve got a cranky b***h face.’ In her early thirties, she had a breast augmentation, which she doesn’t regret.

She believes there is a side of biohacking often overlooked, especially by the bro scene: ‘Chronic unhappiness shortens lifespan’.

‘If you’ve ever been through a period of chronic stress, grief or deep unhappiness, you know what it does to your body,’ she says. ‘You feel exhausted, foggy, physically drained and even prone to illness. That’s not a coincidence.’

Azra has experienced this first-hand.

After her first marriage ended in 2009 and two of her sons decided they wanted to live with their father, she experienced ‘a constant turmoil of sadness, pain, anger, frustration, stress and worry’ that lasted for years.

‘I know deep in my heart that those emotions contributed to my years of suffering from migraines, constantly getting sick, the chronic stress I experienced and my mindset, which I have worked hard to turn around.’

When her stress was high, she took a biological age test. ‘Despite being 54, chronologically, my biological age was 73,’ she says. ‘The extreme stress I was going through at the time had a massive impact.’

This is why, as well as changes to diet, sleep and exercise, her ‘hactivities’ focus on increasing optimism and gratitude, and reducing work stress wherever possible.

‘This means turning off work notifications after hours, creating no-work zones like your bedroom, and communicating your availability clearly to colleagues’ – without feeling guilty about it.’

At the start of her self-experiment, she set herself clear goals: ‘to keep my body young enough to do whatever I want for the next fifty years; to continue doing activities I love like horse-riding and to maintain cognitive function to continue to have political debates with my husband.’

Now 57 years old, Azra arguably looks younger than her age – but how old does she feel?

‘I feel like I’m 21,’ she says. ‘I’m not on any medication; I don’t have any injuries or ongoing niggling issues with joints, and, in my later years, I have done more challenging activities than I ever did when I was younger. I’ve climbed a volcano, I’ve parachuted out of a plane, I’ve started a new business, I’m learning how to speak French, I bought a farm and spend days in the paddocks learning how to garden.

‘I don’t allow my age to be a barrier to doing anything I want to do.’
