The San Francisco Giants’ season, already teetering on the edge of disaster, took an unexpected turn for the worse with an unusual incident involving Harrison Bader.

Bader had plans to meet with a foot and ankle specialist in Indianapolis on Monday, focusing on the plantar fasciitis that has sidelined him since May 30. Yet, before he could embark on this crucial trip, the seasoned outfielder aggravated his left foot further in an unexpected late-night scooter mishap in San Francisco.

Although the Giants confirmed Bader attended his medical appointment, the circumstances of his recent incident shifted the focus of the evaluation. Post-consultation, he made his way back to San Francisco to consult with team orthopedist, Dr. Ken Akizuki, and was slated for an MRI to assess the full impact of his injuries.

“As you can imagine, he’s in a worse place now than before,” admitted manager Tony Vitello. “This new injury will undoubtedly extend his recovery timeline. But truthfully, we were already facing a pretty daunting and frustrating recovery road ahead.”

This scooter accident is just the latest in a string of peculiar setbacks for a season that seems determined to unravel at every opportunity.

Bader signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract in January but has been limited to 30 games by hamstring and foot problems. He is batting .170 with a .198 on-base percentage and .358 slugging percentage, falling well short of the two-way impact San Francisco expected in center field.

This is also not Bader’s first scooter-related mishap. He was suspended from team activities at the University of Florida following a late-night scooter crash in 2014.

Bader’s setback was only part of a brutal injury update.

Casey Schmitt suffered a torn meniscus while rounding first base Monday and could miss the remainder of what had become his breakout season. Pitcher Trevor McDonald will undergo Tommy John surgery and is likely to miss all of 2027.

Those losses arrive as the Giants sit 16 games below .500 and prepare to sell at the trade deadline. Robbie Ray, Tyler Mahle and Luis Arráez could all be moved, while the team faces the possibility of its first 90-loss season since 2017.

San Francisco has experienced disappointing performances, significant injuries and mounting trade uncertainty. Bader further damaging an already injured foot in a scooter crash feels like the perfect cherry on top.

With a solemn expression, Kim Kardashian joined her grieving family in paying tribute to her late grandmother, Mary Jo Campbell, during a heartfelt celebration of life over the weekend.

Mary Jo Campbell, the beloved mother of family matriarch Kris Jenner, passed away on July 16 at the age of 91, leaving behind a cherished legacy.

According to a death certificate obtained by Us Weekly, Campbell succumbed to acute cardiopulmonary arrest following a prolonged fight against metastatic lung cancer.

Just days after her cremation, the Kardashian-Jenner family traveled from Los Angeles to the picturesque La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, California. There, on Sunday, July 26, they gathered to celebrate Campbell’s remarkable life and enduring legacy.

The gathering was especially poignant, as it coincided with what would have been Campbell’s 92nd birthday, adding a layer of heartfelt remembrance to the day.

Kim was seen making her way around the hotel with her and her ex-husband Kanye West’s youngest son Psalm by her side.

The 45-year-old SKIMS founder dressed in a low-cut white gown for the gathering while keeping her eyes hidden behind a pair of Balenciaga sunglasses.

She walked with one hand pressed against Psalm’s back as they greeted fellow mourners at the hotel’s valet.

The seven-year-old matched his famous mom in a nearly all-white outfit that included a short sleeve button-up shirt, baggy pants and tan Timberland boots.

Kris was photographed on a hotel deck seemingly giving instructions to employees during the celebration of life.

The 70-year-old was dressed in a jeweled white jacket and pants.

Like her daughter Kim, Kris opted to wear sunglasses for much of the afternoon event on Sunday.

Also present were Kris’s other daughters Kourtney, 47, and Khloe, 42.

Kourtney, who wore a black bell-sleeve dress and heels, was joined by her husband Travis Barker, 50, and her two eldest children: son Mason Disick, 16, and daughter Penelope Disick, 14.

She shares Mason, Penelope and son Reign, 11, with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, 43, who was also on hand to celebrate Campbell’s life in La Jolla. 

Not pictured was Kourtney and Barker’s two-year-old son Rocky, who will turn three in November. 

Khloe was supported by her longtime BFF Malika Haqq, 43, and her ex-boyfriend and baby daddy Tristan Thompson, 35, with whom she shares daughter True, eight, and son Tatum, three.

The Good American founder was seen strolling around the hotel with niece Penelope while wearing a sleeveless polka dot dress and nude sandal heels. 

Kris’s daughters Kendall, 30, and Kylie, 28, were also in attendance with their actor boyfriends Jacob Elordi, 29, and Timothee Chalamet, 30, respectively, but avoided being photographed at Sunday’s event.

Other notable attendees included Kris’s 28-year-old niece Natalie Zettel, who is the daughter of her late sister Karen Houghton, and reality TV star Kyle Richards, 57.

According to TMZ, Campbell’s celebration of life was held in the bar area of La Valencia Hotel and lasted a total of three hours.

The outlet revealed that a live band performed some of Kris’s late mother’s favorite jazz songs and that floral arrangements decorated the bar in an homage to Campbell’s love of flowers.

It was also said that guests were given ‘Celebration of Life memory books’ as they left the intimate gathering.

Kim and the rest of her family did not stay in the La Jolla area for long as they were all seen heading back home to Los Angeles on private jets just hours later.

The All’s Fair star changed out of her gown and into a pair of pink sweats as she boarded the aircraft with son Psalm and her daughter Chicago, eight. 

Kendall and Elordi, who have been romantically linked since early 2026, put on a cozy display as they arrived on the tarmac in an SUV.

Kendall was dressed in a tank top and shorts while Elordi towered over her in a white T-shirt and khaki pants.

Kylie’s private jet was also photographed touching down at a Los Angeles airport.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder emerged from the plane wearing black capri pants, a white tank top and a grey sweatshirt. 

Following closely behind Kylie as she climbed down off the plane was her daughter Stormi, eight, and son Aire, four, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Travis Scott, 35.

Campbell’s cause of death was revealed on Tuesday just two days after her celebration of life.

The beloved Kardashian family member died from acute cardiopulmonary arrest, per a death certificate obtained by Us Weekly. 

Other conditions leading to her death included acute respiratory failure and metastatic lung cancer, which she had lived with ‘for months,’ according to the document.

Campbell died at a Los Angeles hospital on July 16 and was cremated last Thursday. No autopsy was performed after her death.

Campbell became a celebrity in her own right as a frequent guest on her family’s reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The show starred her daughter and her grandchildren, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.

Kris announced the loss earlier this month with a touching tribute on Instagram.

‘Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ,’ she posted. ‘There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye.

‘My mom was the heart of our family. She taught me everything that truly matters… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted.

‘She taught us that family is everything. She showed us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments. She showed me how to face life’s challenges with resilience and faith.

Campbell’s family shot to worldwide fame with Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which also propelled her into the spotlight.

She was a guest at exclusive parties, was photographed by the paparazzi, competed on Celebrity Family Feud, appeared in a KKW Beauty shoot, and, of course, made multiple cameos on her relatives’ Instagram accounts.

She was one of two witnesses at Kourtney’s wedding to Travis Barker at the Santa Barbara courthouse in 2022, which was documented in the couple’s special, Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis.

The spotlight was not something Campbell completely shied away from earlier in her life.

Years before the Kardashians became household names, Campbell pursued a career as a model in her early years, according to People.

As an adult, however, she embraced a quieter life hundreds of miles away from glamorous Hollywood.

In 1980, she opened Shannon & Company, a children’s clothing boutique in the San Diego neighborhood of La Jolla – a store she ran for years before it eventually closed.

It was frequented by the Kardashian siblings when they were children and a place where Kris even worked when she was a teenager, according to People.

‘They grew up playing in the store,’ Campbell told The Daily Beast in 2012. ‘I recall Kim sitting on this very floor and counting money. She would sing, “Counting is the game, and money is my name,” or “Money is my name and counting is the game.” Something like that.’

‘[The store] keeps me going. If I didn’t have the store, I would probably spend more time up [in Calabasas with family]. I want to keep my little house as my haven, because then you have some place to run to,’ she said.

It is a life that has not been without upheaval.

Campbell overcame two battles with cancer during her life, surviving both breast and colon cancer.

In 2024, her daughter Karen Houghton died ‘unexpectedly’ – with a death certificate stating she passed from cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac arrhythmia, with Type 2 diabetes listed as a secondary underlying cause.

Campbell was also married three times during her life. A marriage she had with her high school sweetheart ended after just two months.

She then wed Robert Houghton, with whom she had daughters Kris and Karen.

Campbell and Houghton ultimately split when Kris was seven.

She walked down the aisle again with Harry Shannon, a marriage which lasted 40 years until his death in 2003.

It is a love life that bears a striking similarity to her granddaughter Kim, who has also been married three times.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) — A 16-year-old lifeguard heroically saved a young boy from the menacing waves at a Santa Cruz beach last Saturday, a brave act that has caught the attention of the White House.

In a post shared on X this Tuesday, President Donald Trump revealed plans to invite the teenager and his family to the White House, where he intends to bestow upon him a “High Civilian Honor.”

The daring rescue unfolded at Seabright State Beach, not far from the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Witness Scott Vander Dussen captured the riveting moment on video, describing how a lifeguard sprinted into the choppy water to rescue the boy.

“I saw the lifeguard just run straight out into the water, and, you know, he dove in, setting fear aside,” Vander Dussen recounted with admiration.

Vander Dussen’s video documents the lifeguard’s courageous battle against the surging waves as he worked tirelessly to secure the boy’s safety, noting how the conditions seemed to change unexpectedly.

“And I think in this situation, the young man was already out there. I don’t think he was bargaining for this. It looked like those waves changed quickly, and he just got overpowered and swept out,” he said.

Utah’s legal team is tightening its grip on Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk. Prosecutors insist that the amassed evidence sufficiently supports moving forward to a full trial.

In the aftermath of a five-day preliminary hearing earlier this month, the prosecution wasted no time. On Tuesday, they submitted the first of three persuasive written briefs to Judge Tony Graf. Their mission? To convincingly argue that the mountain of evidence clearly establishes probable cause for all charges against Robinson, clearing the path for the case to proceed to trial.

“For Judge Graf, this might be one of the more straightforward decisions regarding bindover,” the prosecutors stated. They highlighted that Robinson allegedly admitted to several companions, such as his roommate and romantic partner, that he executed the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. This shocking event unfolded before approximately 3,000 onlookers, and Robinson subsequently turned himself in to law enforcement.

Prosecutors maintain that Robinson’s alleged confessions are merely one aspect of the extensive case they have constructed against him.

“These admissions, along with others, establish probable cause to support most of the elements of the charges,” prosecutors wrote.

“DNA testing, surveillance video, and eyewitness testimony buttress those elements and demonstrate probable cause to support the remaining elements. The Court should bind Defendant for trial over on all counts,” they continued.

According to the filing, Robinson allegedly confessed to former roommate and romantic partner Lance Twiggs, writing, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it.”

Prosecutors say Robinson also admitted planning the assassination for “a bit over a week,” discussed trying to retrieve the rifle after the shooting and later wrote, “I’m going to turn myself in willingly.”

The 28-page memorandum repeatedly points to evidence introduced during the preliminary hearing, including surveillance video investigators say tracked Robinson across Utah Valley University before and after the shooting, DNA recovered from the suspected murder weapon, a fired cartridge casing, a towel and screwdriver, and eyewitness testimony placing the alleged gunman on the rooftop overlooking Kirk’s event.

Prosecutors argue the evidence leaves little doubt that Robinson should be bound over for trial on all seven counts.

Prosecutors also argue Robinson planned the assassination for more than a week, intentionally targeted Kirk and knowingly endangered numerous bystanders by firing a high-powered rifle into a crowd gathered to hear the conservative activist speak. Prosecutors argue the evidence easily clears Utah’s probable-cause standard at this stage of the case.

Judge Graf requested written arguments after concluding the five-day preliminary hearing earlier this month rather than immediately making a ruling.

The defense is expected to file its written opposition in the coming weeks, followed by a final response from prosecutors before oral arguments are scheduled for Sept. 1.

Robinson, 23, has not yet entered a plea. He faces aggravated murder and six additional felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from Kirk’s killing.

If Judge Graf finds probable cause, Robinson will be bound over for trial. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty on the aggravated murder charge.

For the Los Angeles Dodgers, the urgency to scout for a new catcher as the trade deadline looms is potentially waning.

In a positive update on Tuesday, Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts shared that All-Star catcher Will Smith has resumed baseball activities, finally free from the neck injury that has taken him off the roster since early June.

Smith is now set to embark on a comprehensive regimen that includes throwing and hitting exercises, alongside intensified strength training.

This development brings relief to the Dodgers, who have been diligently tracking the 31-year-old’s recovery. It also eases the pressure to acquire a new catcher before the upcoming trade deadline on Monday.

“It’s great news to hear he’s starting on some baseball activities,” remarked Roberts, expressing optimism for Smith’s return.

Last week, sources told the California Post that the Dodgers hadn’t ramped up their efforts to add another catcher amid Smith’s ongoing absence. The team wasn’t believed to be looking for a bigger name at the position, either, instead weighing the possibility of bolstering their catching depth behind second-year backup Dalton Rushing.

Still, any further setbacks or delays in Smith’s recovery might have altered their approach.

As Roberts noted over the weekend, it was going to be “helpful” to have more clarity on Smith’s status before deadline decisions had to be made.

Now, finally, a tangible update has arrived –– reinforcing the Dodgers’ optimism in having Smith back at full health for the stretch run of the season and the start of the playoffs.

Smith has not played since June 5, when he first developed what was initially described as minor stiffness in his neck. However, the pain continued to linger, leading to a doctor’s visit in which Smith was diagnosed with an inflamed disc in his neck. His previous attempts to ramp up activity were scuttled by recurring pain, ultimately prompting the team to shut him down for a week during the All-Star break.

Since then, though, Smith has seemingly turned a corner.

And while his timeline to return is unclear, the team’s confidence in eventually getting him back should only lessen their urgency to make a notable acquisition behind the plate in the coming days.

The Dodgers could still use more catching depth, with rookie Eliezer Alfonzo currently serving in a backup role behind Rushing –– who himself has had an up-and-down second season in the big leagues.

Last year, the club added Ben Rortvedt at the deadline, and wound up turning to him to start their first four playoff games while Smith recovered from a broken hand.

Someone like Rortvedt, who is now in triple-A with the Mets, could make sense as another deadline addition this year.

But ideally, the Dodgers won’t need any extra catching help come October, with Smith finally back on the road to recovery almost two months into his IL stint.

Snell, Glasnow progressing too

In other positive injury news on Tuesday, Roberts expressed confidence in the status of both Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, as they continue to take steps toward returning to the active roster.

On Wednesday, Snell is scheduled to throw four innings in a minor-league rehab game with single-A Ontario, while Glasnow will face hitters in a live batting practice session at Dodger Stadium for the second time in the last couple weeks.

Snell could be ready to rejoin the Dodgers after his outing, while Glasnow could be ready to begin his own minor-league rehab assignment after his.

Both pitchers have been out since early May, when Glasnow went down with back spasms and Snell underwent a procedure to remove loose bodies from his elbow.

“I feel very confident [about the state of our rotation],” Roberts said, even though Shohei Ohtani’s next steps as a pitcher remain undecided as he continues to nurse a knee injury. “I feel very good for the rest of the season with all three of these guys.”

Tony Romo, the former star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, found himself in legal trouble after being apprehended on suspicion of driving under the influence in Wisconsin. During the incident, captured on police bodycam footage, Romo asserted that he had not consumed any alcohol and fervently requested to contact his lawyer.

Exclusive footage obtained by The Daily Mail reveals the tense moments as law enforcement stopped Romo on a Milwaukee interstate. The former NFL player was reportedly unable to satisfactorily perform the field sobriety test administered by the officer at the scene.

Appearing visibly disoriented, the 46-year-old initially seemed bewildered when the officer explained the reasons for the traffic stop. He was cited for making an ‘unsafe passing on the right’ and ‘cutting across the gore’, actions that prompted the officer to intervene.

Trying to explain his whereabouts, Romo mentioned to the officer that he had just left a golf course and was en route to visit his grandparents. This detail, however, did not sway the ongoing investigation at the time.

Once the officer returned after verifying his driver’s license, the conversation turned toward Romo’s alcohol consumption. When questioned about how much he had drunk, Romo steadfastly responded, “Zero,” maintaining his stance despite the circumstances that unfolded.

The officer then tells Romo she wants to carry out a field sobriety test, causing Romo to scramble for his cell phone. He initially refuses to get out of his Jeep and says he’s going to call his lawyer and film their interaction.

When he eventually does step out of his car, Romo asks the officer: ‘Because I’m coming from a golf course you think I’m drunk?’ 

The officer then tells Romo he’s being detained for OWI and she will take him to a safer place for his testing before placing handcuffs on the ex-quarterback.

The 6ft 2ins ex-quarterback struggles to squeeze into the back of the police car and complains about back pain once he arrives at the police station.

The police officer tells Romo her partner found ‘shooters’ in his backpack but he fires back with: ‘I don’t think any of them were drank, right?’ 

Before starting his test, Romo stretches and cites his ‘two back surgeries’ before yawning. Three other officers are stood watching Romo.

A disinterested and confused Romo then continuously interrupts the officer as she tries to explain the exercises in the test. He also asks her to repeat things a number of times and give demonstrations for him.

Romo, who forms half of CBS’ top NFL broadcast team alongside Jim Nantz and is paid $18m-a-year, was later pictured smirking in a humiliating mugshot.

The arrest report states Romo was booked on one count of operating while intoxicated, first offense for allegedly performing ‘poorly’ on standardized field sobriety tests. 

Romo, who grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin, spent his entire 13-season NFL career with the Cowboys, leading Dallas to four postseason appearances as the team’s starting quarterback between 2006 and 2015. 

However, despite earning four Pro Bowl nods during his time on the field, Romo failed to make it to the Super Bowl, never advancing past the divisional round.

He lost his starting position to then-rookie Dak Prescott in 2016, retiring from football at the end of that season.

After hanging up his cleats, Romo went on to become the lead color analyst for NFL on CBS. He will be entering his tenth season as a sportscaster this fall.

In recent seasons, Romo has been criticized for his strange affectations and his errors in commentary.

Whether it was confusing Josh Allen for Patrick Mahomes, letting out a bizarre groan in Bills-Jaguars or calling a 4th & 1 carry like a first-down, Romo had his share of blunders in last season’s playoffs alone. 

Romo said he felt unwell during the Bills-Jaguars incident, explaining: ‘We had a bunch of guys sick, we were just grinding through it. You’re not going to miss a playoff game.’

In December 2023, at the height of ‘Tayvis’ Mania, Romo bizarrely addressed Taylor Swift as the wife of Travis Kelce while she watched him play for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It came long before the couple announced their engagement back in August of 2025 and got married last month.

But the rogue play-calling is something Romo is becoming known for and in the eyes of many NFL fans, it is increasingly at the expense of the CBS coverage. 

Romo, who famously dated Jessica Simpson from 2007 to 2009, is married to Candice Crawford Romo, a former broadcast journalist and past Miss Missouri. They have three children.

On Sunday, Romo quietly pulled out of the Texas State Open golf tournament in the wake of his shocking drunk driving arrest. 

He was previously listed among the participants in the historic competition at Cascades Country Club in Tyler, Texas this week, but organizers revealed he will no longer play.

In a statement to KLTV, the club confirmed: ‘Although we’re disappointed he won’t be joining us, we’re still looking forward to an exciting week of competitive golf.’

Romo is a yearly participant in the Texas State Open golf tournament, an historic event which is open to both professionals and amateurs.

Held in Tyler since 2018, the 56th running of the competition is due to tee off on Monday, but Romo appears keen to stay out of the spotlight as the fallout continues.

Romo was also due to participate in a Q&A ahead of the start of the tournament, which organizers confirmed he will also not be present for.
