Sunny Hostin’s ‘No One is Above the Law’ Stance Under Scrutiny: A Deep Dive

0

Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, is facing backlash online after repeatedly asserting on television that “no one is above the law.”

A Saturday post from far-right X account End Wokeness flaunted a clip of the former federal prosecutor making the claim while speaking about Donald Trump in 2023.

Controversy arose when police bodycam footage emerged. It captured Hostin invoking her credentials as a TV personality and former federal prosecutor while trying to prevent her son, Gabriel, from receiving a trespassing ticket last month, as reported by The New York Post.

Hostin has reiterated her stance on multiple occasions, notably in June 2023 during a discussion on Donald Trump’s efforts to dismiss a hush money lawsuit, and again in June 2024 while addressing Hunter Biden’s plea deal.

Declaring her position at that time, Hostin emphasized, “Hunter Biden being on trial shows that no one is above the law,” and confidently predicted that then-President Joe Biden would not issue a pardon.

However, in a turn of events, Hunter Biden later received pardons for felony gun and tax convictions in Delaware and California.

Hostin made a similar assertion in January. ‘I’ve said this before: I really do believe that the reason President Trump ran for the office of presidency again is because he wanted to avoid going to jail,’ she told her cohosts.

‘This is perfect,’ wrote conservative commentator Clay Travis of the reputed double standard.

‘The hypocrisy writes itself,’ someone else sniped, sharing a still of the New York Post’s report on 24-year-old Gabriel’s June 16 citation.

‘”The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, who lectures everyone about equal justice, just demonstrated how liberal privilege works,’ another person raged.

‘A college degree, a clean record, or a famous parent doesn’t place anyone above the law,’ a fourth person complained. ‘Equal justice shouldn’t depend on who your parents are.’

Hostin rushed to her son’s aid after he was cuffed for wandering through an open gate onto active railroad tracks, the footage released over the weekend shows.

Hostin told officers over the phone before arriving at the scene herself, ‘My name is Sunny Hostin and I’m one of the co-hosts of The View,’ according to the Post.

She is also heard citing her status as a ‘former federal prosecutor.’

Court records showed Hostin, 57, penned a letter to the local DA shortly thereafter to ask for the case to be dismissed.

She cited her son’s Ivy League background, past community service, lack of a criminal history, and her own past as a federal prosecutor once again.

The incident in question did not involve an arrest. Gabriel was cited for trespassing and is due in court on July 31.

He avoided a more typical misdemeanor charge, cops told him while handing out the citation.

Supreme Court Ruling on Alaska Seizing Pilot’s Plane for Beer

0

(The Hill) – On Monday, the Supreme Court announced it would hear the case of an Alaskan pilot contesting the state’s attempt to seize his vintage 1969 Cessna airplane. The issue arose after a passenger tried to bring a six-pack of Budweiser aboard his flight into a prohibition-enforced village.

Ken Jouppi, the pilot in question, declares he was unaware of the alcohol and believes that losing his aircraft amounts to an excessive fine, which he argues is prohibited by the Eighth Amendment.

Jouppi insists he respected Alaska’s dry village laws and would never knowingly breach them. He states the beer was hidden within the passenger’s luggage, and he doesn’t conduct luggage inspections prior to departure.

After Alaska’s highest court upheld the decision for forfeiture, Jouppi turned to the Supreme Court. According to legal documents, the airplane has an estimated value of about $95,000.

Jouppi maintains that the Eighth Amendment’s safeguard against disproportionate fines was “designed for situations precisely like this.”

“No matter that the offense is a misdemeanor. As here. No matter that the pilot is a first-time offender. As here. No matter that the alcohol is a six-pack of Budweiser. As here. No matter that it belonged to a customer. As here,” Jouppi’s lawyers wrote in their petition.

“The result: an airplane forfeited for a six-pack.”

Jouppi is represented by the libertarian Institute for Justice, which regularly petitions the Supreme Court to take up forfeiture and other cases it sees as government abuse.

The battle is set to be heard during the Supreme Court’s next term, which begins in October. A decision is likely by next summer.

The case stems from an April 3, 2012, flight that Jouppi was scheduled to run for a passenger from Fairbanks to Beaver.

Beaver, a remote area located just over 100 miles to the north, is a dry village. Alaska law makes it a state crime to “knowingly send, transport, or bring an alcoholic beverage” there, and vehicles involved are subject to forfeiture.

As the pilot was loading the plane, state troopers arrived on scene and discovered the beer, court documents show.

Jouppi was sentenced to three days’ imprisonment and a $1,500 fine. At issue now is Alaska’s bid to seize his Cessna aircraft under the statute.

In urging the Supreme Court to turn away Jouppi’s appeal, the state emphasized its “unique difficulties” in combatting alcohol abuse. Noting some Alaskan villages are primarily accessible by air, the state likened its seizure of planes to a long history of the government seizing ships in criminal prosecutions.

“Many remote communities in Alaska have limited law enforcement resources to respond to, for example, alcohol-fueled domestic violence. They also lack the public health resources to address other problems associated with alcohol abuse,” Alaska wrote in court filings.

Police Uncover IED Materials After Man Shoots at Two: Community in Shock

A man from Wisconsin has been embroiled in a double whammy of legal troubles, including accusations of a shooting and possessing explosive materials at his residence.

Samuel Kendall, aged 25, is currently held at Waukesha County Jail following reports that he allegedly discharged a rifle at two individuals in a car parked at a Culver’s parking lot in Menomonee Falls on June 12. According to a criminal complaint accessed by WISN, a local ABC affiliate, one victim claimed they were struck in the eye by what they perceived as a BB gun. Investigators uncovered shell casings from a rifle at the parking lot scene, bolstering the accusations.

Delving deeper into the investigation, authorities traced the suspect vehicle to a silver Lincoln Town Car registered under Kendall’s name. During a warranted search of his home, law enforcement officials reportedly unearthed evidence linking him to the recent sale of a 300 Blackout rifle. In a startling turn, they also discovered explosive materials allegedly in his possession.

The police investigation was further fueled by earlier reports involving vandalized security cameras near the Culver’s site, which were found shot out. Adding to the mounting evidence, a report from a couple revealed bullet holes scattered across their deck at home, where authorities also recovered .300 Blackout rifle shell casings.

According to the criminal complaint, which was also obtained by local newspaper The Freeman, police detectives learned that an informant for the DEA had reported buying firearms and 3D-printed automatic switches from Kendall. With assistance from authorities, the informant purchased a .300 Blackout rifle from Kendall for $1,200 on July 10, along with ammunition that matched the shell casings found at the scene of the shooting and the home that was allegedly shot at.

Kendall then reportedly sold his silver sedan to someone in Waupaca, Wisconsin, for $1,000 and told the buyer to avoid road cameras while driving it.

Police said they tracked Kendall down at his workplace, where they took him into custody on July 16. Kendall initially denied any involvement with the alleged shooting at Culver’s, but admitted to shooting at two Flock cameras before driving to the Culver’s. According to the complaint, Kendall told police that he left the Culver’s parking lot and believed a car was chasing him. He claimed that while “in a panic paranoia state,” he fired at the ground in front of the car as a warning.

Authorities then executed a search warrant at three different locations, including at Kendall’s home. In Kendall’s bedroom, FBI agents found several materials that they said “can be expeditiously assembled to create a device consistent with an IED and explosives.” The materials included switches, circuit boards for radio-controlled switches, powder, ball bearings, fireworks, digital timers, potassium nitrate, and sulfur powder. Agents also allegedly found journals containing diagrams and instructions on how to assemble explosive devices.

When police spoke to Kendall’s sister, she told them her brother had “anti-government and antipolice sentiments since childhood and he was paranoid about law enforcement.” Kendall’s mother reportedly described her son as a “conspiracy theorist.” Police said Kendall’s father confirmed that his son had recently sold a 300 Blackout rifle.

Kendall was charged with four counts of recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, two counts of criminal damage to property, and one count of possession of improvised explosives.

He is being held on $250,000 cash bail. His next court date is scheduled for July 24.

Gigi Hadid Joins Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2026 Lineup

0

The renowned Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is ready for a change of scenery.

Scheduled for its grand return in 2026, the iconic runway event will take place in Los Angeles, marking a departure from its traditional New York City spot, as announced by the lingerie giant on July 16.

“This year, we’re taking the show on the road to the birthplace of glamour, stardom, and icons… Los Angeles, California. It’s the City of Angels, after all,” Victoria’s Secret announced on Instagram, highlighting the city’s allure.

Unveiling more excitement, the brand confirmed Gigi Hadid as the first official cast member for the show.

In a playful video announcement, the supermodel exclaimed, “Get in, Angels, we’re going to LA!” sharing the “iconic” development with her fans.

Hadid, 31, made her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut in 2015, modeling both a sultry firefighter-themed getup and a gorgeous green butterfly-inspired look.

“I think I tried out two or three times before I got it, so you can imagine when I felt when I got my first show,” she said on Instagram last year, looking back at the major moment.

“I’m just so happy for her. She just wanted it so bad … I look back at pictures of that time and the world was so hard on her,” Hadid continued. “I deserved to be there. I continue to come back to this show just so happy for that girl that got the first show, and then also my teenage self who just watched the show.”

Ahead of her Victoria’s Secret catwalk debut, the model was criticized for her runway walk, her figure and the role nepotism may have played in her budding career. (Her mother is “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Yolanda Hadid; her father, Mohamed Hadid, is a luxury real estate developer.)

“No, I don’t have the same body type as other models in shows. No, I don’t think I’m the best at any given shows. Yes, I want to have a unique walk but I also know I have to improve. No, I’m not the first or the last model of my type in this industry,” Hadid wrote on Instagram in 2015.

“You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I’m a hard worker that’s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.”

Continued the style star, “Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m fitting into the sample sizes. Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body, they don’t make me want to say no to designers that ask me to be in their shows, and they definitely don’t change the designers’ opinions of me.”

Indeed, following her first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Hadid returned in 2016, 2018, 2024 and 2025. Over the past decade, she’s also covered countless fashion magazines, walked for luxury labels ranging from Chanel to Versace, and become one of the industry’s highest-paid models.

While an exact date for the 2026 VS show hasn’t been announced yet, the event has been held in October in recent years.

Family Caught on Camera Running Out of Restaurant Without Paying

0

An Orlando restaurant finds itself at the center of a curious incident involving a family of seven who reportedly left without paying after enjoying a lavish meal.

Captured on surveillance cameras, the group relished a sumptuous spread valued at $300 before casually departing @ The Diner, all while allegedly dodging their substantial bill on Sunday.

The Florida-based eatery is now on a mission to track down these suspected dine-and-dashers, who are believed to have vanished during one of the restaurant’s most hectic periods of the day.

In an Instagram post, the restaurant revealed the family ordered a variety of dishes and appeared to be savoring their time there, only to later enact a seemingly well-planned exit in separate stages.

Sharing video evidence of the occurrence, the eatery indicated that it wasn’t until after the family had left that the staff discovered their departure was unpaid, leaving the team in a frantic state to unravel the event.

In the clip, a man wearing a white vest is seen leading the group’s exit, handing another woman in the group car keys as she slips away before pulling up in the getaway car outside.

Moments later, he quickly follows behind with a young boy in tow.

The clip shows the rest of the group remaining at the table, eagerly helping themselves to the extensive spread before another woman and a young girl make their move towards the exit.

The restaurant alleges that one woman remained behind at the table in an apparent attempt to make it seem as though she intended to pay the bill.

After the rest of the group had reached the waiting vehicle, video shows her sitting at the table for a moment, staring pensively, before she too stood up and hurried out, breaking into a sprint as she reached the door.

Strangely, no waiter appeared to notice any suspicious behavior, as staff continued clearing tables seemingly unaware of what was happening.

The restaurant issued a warning to other local establishments in the post, urging them to remain vigilant and watch out for similar situations.

‘Orlando beware!’ reads the caption on the video, accompanied by red exclamation marks.

It appears the restaurant has been unable to catch a break, as the post also notes that this was not the first time they had encountered such behavior, although seeing children involved was something they had never experienced before.

The post has since gone viral, attracting thousands of reactions, with many people expressing sympathy for the restaurant and calling for the family to be identified and held accountable.

Others suggested that the incident should be reported to police if it had not already been.

‘This is stealing, plain and simple,’ one user commented. ‘If you can’t afford to eat out, don’t.’

Another added, ‘Imagine teaching your kids that this is acceptable behavior.’

Some social media users also questioned whether the family had intended to pay before leaving, or whether there could have been a misunderstanding leading up to their apparent dine-and-dash ordeal.

However, the original poster insisted the departure was deliberate and claimed surveillance footage supported their conclusion.

Other comments also urged restaurants to charge up front to avoid any chance of theft recurring.

Dine-and-dash incidents can have a significant financial impact on restaurants, particularly independently owned businesses operating on narrow profit margins.

In some cases, servers fear they will be blamed for unpaid tabs, although labor laws in many jurisdictions restrict employers from deducting such losses from employee wages.

It is unclear whether the company has filed a police report.

The Daily Mail reached out to the restaurant for comment.

Memphis Mother Faces First-Degree Murder Charge After Man Discovered Hiding Under Child’s Bed

A Memphis woman now faces a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a man she found concealed beneath her daughter’s bed.

As detailed in an affidavit, Kendra Scott recounted to police, “I found a guy under my child’s bed, and I did what I had to do.”

Authorities identified the victim as Rodderius Morton, discovered on Thursday in Scott’s front yard with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of his head.

A local juvenile reported to police that Scott was shouting, “Who’s at my house?” and knocking on the door before entering the residence, where she ultimately found Morton hiding beneath the child’s bed.

Police say Morton and Scott got into an argument as he left the home, without a weapon, with Scott yelling “Get out of my house, —– !”

A witness told police that Morton came in through the back door of the home after he was invited in. The same witness said they heard a single gunshot as Scott and Morton were on the front porch.

Scott allegedly told this witness in the past if she “sees a boy in my house, I will put a hole in his —,” documents say.

Burger King Ranked Unhealthiest Fast Food by Doctor

0

The reigning fast-food monarch might be facing an unexpected overthrow.

For fast-food aficionados, this revelation may seem like culinary betrayal, yet a healthcare whistleblower is casting a spotlight on Burger King. Allegations suggest the chain’s flagship menu items, notably the Whopper, are laced with “toxic” and “banned” ingredients, eerily similar to those in Silly Putty.

Attempts to reach Burger King representatives for comment were unsuccessful, as they did not immediately respond to The Post’s inquiries.

Doctor of medicine Paul Saladino, who holds double board certifications, took to Instagram to inform his 3 million plus followers, “Burger King has concealed their food’s ingredients for years, but now we finally have the truth—it’s unbelievable, folks.”

Sitting in one of Burger King’s global outlets, Saladino performed a thorough breakdown of the Whopper’s alleged 85 ingredients. According to 2022 findings, these include various seed oils, processed sugars, and preservatives.

“In the bun, you have things like potassium iodate [which is] banned in Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand,” the influencer revealed, claiming the bread also contains Mono- and diglycerides. He explained that the chemical compound is a “preservative and dough conditioner which causes gut inflammation.”

“It’s not real food guys,” Saladino insisted before putting the King’s patties to the flame.

“They claim the burger is 100% beef cooked on a grill with no seed oils, but then they use a salt & pepper seasoning in the meat which has canola oil,” he said with disgust. “I can’t even.”

Saladino’s scathing review closely trails BK’s fiery “burger wars” with leading competitors McDonald’s and Wendy’s.

The viral food fight challenged industry bigwigs, including Tom Curtis, president of Burger King US and Canada, to scarf down their eatery’s tastiest meaty treat for social media clout. The big business beef, however, ended quietly with no clear winner crowned best.

Wendy’s, unfortunately, was named the No. 1 “least healthy” fast food chain by the World Atlas in 2025, outranking Taco Bell — which was recently fingered as a culprit in the cyclospora outbreak — Mickey D’s and Chick-fil-A. Burger King didn’t even make the top 10 list.

Still, Saladino didn’t mince words while breaking down the “chronic disease-“ and “obesity-“ inducing contents of the hotspot’s chow.

The doc served up a dissecting look into its Royal Chicken Spicy Sandwich, which he alleged contains “120 ingredients,” including “multiple dough conditioners, which can lead to gut issues, silicone dioxide, the nanoparticals of which may be inflammatory in the human gut [and] multiple seed oils.”

Turning his talons towards the poultry itself, Saladino continued, saying, “If that weren’t bad enough, [the patty is a] piece of processed chicken coated in flour and food starches, battered and fried in rancid oxidized seed oils, which have anti-foaming agents that are also found in Silly Putty, like dimethylpolysiloxane.”

“And three different types of sauces, one of which has over 25 different ingredients,” he added. “Guys, Burger King might just be the worst fast food restaurant I’ve ever seen.”

Saladino’s sickened viewers agreed.

“Look at the infinite list of ingredients. If that’s not a lab experiment, what is?,” quipped an irked commenter

“Murder King,” wisecracked another.

“If they don’t care about my health. Then I don’t care about their profits,” spat an equally outraged onlooker, in part, vowing to cease patronizing Burger King, McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Jack in the Box. “Girl, bye!.”

Tragic Flash Floods Claim Lives of Young Woman’s Family Members

0

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded for a 23-year-old woman when flash floods claimed the lives of her mother, stepfather, and three brothers during a family hike in Utah.

Spencer and Katrina Long, both aged 44, along with their sons Thayne, 13, Gage, 12, and Reid, were swept away by sudden torrential rains while hiking near the Sunglow campground, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to the scene that night following the discovery of a young man’s body in the floodwaters.

Spencer, a respected Provo Fire Captain, and two of his sons were found later that night. Katrina and their remaining son were located the next morning.

Lydia Vernon, the biological daughter and sister of the victims, was absent during the ill-fated outing. She now confronts the harrowing reality of moving forward without five cherished family members, as noted on a GoFundMe page.

While Lydia, a recent nursing school graduate of Murray State University, tries to grieve her family, she has also been faced with sudden financial burdens, the fundraiser stated.

As of Monday morning, more than $200,000 had been raised to help her fund funeral, housing, counseling, and educational expenses, among other costs.

The tight-knit community also came together to welcome Lydia home, as several people held up American flags and lined the street of the family’s home in Mona, emotional footage revealed.

Firetrucks, an ambulance, police cars, and several fire department vehicles were parked outside the home.

A large US flag was also attached to a fire truck ladder and raised in the air over the home, the clip showed.

Smaller American flags were placed in the front yard to honor the late family.

Lydia’s surviving family has also taken to social media to share their support for her during this difficult time.

‘Our family is devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of our son, Captain Spencer Long, his wife, Katrina, and their sons Reid, Thayne, and Gage,’ Wendi Long, Spencer’s mother, wrote on Facebook.

‘They were taken in a flash flood near Sunglow Campground. Their daughter, Lydia, survives and needs our love and support.’

Wendi further detailed that Spencer was her and her husband’s eldest son, and someone ‘we all looked up to’.

‘Spencer served as a captain with Provo Fire & Rescue and brought to that role decades of hands-on experience as a wildland firefighter, paramedic, and search and rescue. He answered the call to serve, to protect, and to teach others,’ she said of her late son.

Wendi remembered her daughter-in-law as the ‘heart of their home’, and a successful cofounder.

After news broke of their deaths, the business shared that Katrina ‘led with kindness, grace, and unwavering compassion’ in her role.

And their three sons appeared to follow in Spencer and Katrina’s footsteps, with Reid recently returning home from a mission in Colombia that he went on with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), Wendi revealed.

She said that Reid, whom Katrina shared with her former husband Joshua Vernon, ‘carried a deep love for his church and calling’.

Meanwhile, Thayne, the eldest biological child that Spencer and Katrina shared, had his own business at the age of 13.

According to his grandmother, Thayne ran Juab Detailing, a local car detailing company.

Maria Bartiromo’s Sharp Question Signals Waning Patience with Trump on Fox News

0

Known for her alignment with MAGA views, Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo raised a crucial question regarding Iran’s ability to attack American service members, despite President Trump’s past claims of having ‘obliterated’ the Iranian military forces.

On her Sunday show, Bartiromo discussed the issue with Victoria Coates, a former national security advisor. This came after a deadly Iranian missile strike hit a military base in Jordan on Friday, resulting in the deaths of two American soldiers. In a separate incident on Saturday, a third American soldier lost his life to shrapnel during the controlled detonation of an Iranian drone in Iraq.

Bartiromo expressed her confusion, stating, ‘CENTCOM has indicated that there will be significant retaliation, but I am puzzled by Iran’s ability to execute such attacks and continue to provoke both American and Gulf country military installations.

‘This is particularly perplexing since the US has been said to have obliterated Iran’s military power, a point the president frequently emphasizes.’

In response, Coates admitted that while Iran’s military is significantly weakened, they have reduced their missile launches from a hundred per day to merely ten, indicating a serious degradation of their capabilities.

She said: ‘There have been a number of days where they haven’t fired off anything, and they haven’t targeted Israel for months now.

‘So I think their capabilities are lessened, but they’re not zero, and that’s the important thing. They are a nuisance.’

US Central Command announced on Sunday night that forces began firing at Iran at 7pm EST, after a soldier was confirmed killed at a base in Northern Iraq.

CENTCOM vowed to ‘continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz.’

Speaking with reporters on Sunday night, Trump said he feels ‘very badly’ about the American fatalities.

‘But you know, those great patriots were out there fighting [so] that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,’ he said.

‘Iran has been very, very badly damaged,’ the commander-in-chief continued. ‘They’ve lost everything almost militarily… We control the Strait; they don’t control anything.

‘So we’ll see what happens, but we hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honor of the…  three great patriots.’

American forces have already devastated Iranian missile depots, drones and air defenses in a barrage of airstrikes over the weekend, as the US military promised ‘swift punishment’ for the deaths of two service members.

But on Sunday, CENTCOM announced that a third service member was then killed during a ‘controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone’ in Northern Iraq during action on Saturday.

On Monday those killed in the attack in Jordan were identified as Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas.

In addition to the two fatalities, one service member is missing in action, and four others were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals in the attack.

The troops have since been discharged, CENTCOM said in a statement on Saturday.  The U.S. military has said the total number of deaths in the war with Iran is 17.

Iranian authorities said at least 50 people have been killed and more than 500 wounded in US strikes in the past three weeks, including eight killed in a strike on a bridge on Friday.

People working on ships, as well as foreign workers and others in Gulf nations, Israel and Lebanon have also perished in the conflict.
