Mystery Surrounds Woman’s Death on Baseball Field: Investigators Probe Boyfriend’s Dubious Account

0

Inset, left to right: Jayden M. Frost (MCSO) and Maggie Williams (KPNX). Background: The baseball field in Arizona where Williams’s body was found in December 2024 (KPNX).

A young man from Arizona, aged 20, stands accused of murdering his 21-year-old girlfriend. The incident reportedly occurred during what he described as “rough sex” in a public park, which led to her being strangled. In a state of panic, he allegedly tried to obliterate any evidence before fleeing the scene.

Jayden Matthew Frost has been charged with negligent homicide concerning the demise of Margaret “Maggie” Williams. Her body was found in December 2024 on the baseball fields near the intersection of 40th Street and Ray Road.

As per an initial announcement from the Phoenix Police Department, officers arrived on December 7, 2024, to investigate after Williams was discovered unresponsive. At first, first responders noted no overt signs of trauma, and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently took charge of the body.

The investigation was reclassified as a homicide after the medical examiner concluded that Williams succumbed to asphyxia caused by strangulation.

Further insights into the events leading to Williams’s death and Frost’s subsequent arrest are detailed in court documents reviewed by Law&Crime.

Investigators said Williams and Frost — who had been dating for about two months — were dropped off at the park the night before her body was found. The two had been drinking alcohol and using marijuana, police said.

Frost claimed he left the park about 11 p.m. to charge his phone at a grocery store while Williams stayed behind because she was “having a good time.” When he returned about an hour later, Frost said Williams was gone and her phone had died at 11:16 p.m., per the affidavit.

Frost called a friend who helped him look for Williams and the two eventually found her in the middle of the baseball field surrounded by coyotes, which had eaten her toes. She was “cold to the touch and her neck was stiff,” Jayden told police.

“[Williams] had bruising/ abrasions to her neck, her pants were slightly pulled down near her buttocks, she had no shoes on, had one sock on her left foot and had bodily fluid coming from her mouth and nose,” a probable cause affidavit said.

Emergency responders pronounced Williams dead at the scene, where investigators noted injuries to her neck and face, as well as other signs consistent with strangulation.

A subsequent autopsy conducted by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Williams’s cause of death was asphyxia due to strangulation and her manner of death was determined to be homicide.

Police said Frost’s claim about not knowing where Williams was on the night of her death quickly fell apart and he soon confessed to killing her. However, he has maintained her death was an accident.

Frost confessed to investigators that the pair engaged in “rough sexual activity” at the baseball fields, during which he choked Williams. He claimed the act was consensual, but told police he soon realized she was showing signs of distress.

Authorities say Frost did not call 911. Instead, he told police he “panicked,” discarded evidence, and then “made up a story” about not knowing where Williams was because the truth did not seem believable.

“[Frost] opened his eyes and saw that foam was coming out of [Williams’] mouth, [Frost] realized [she] was deceased and became scared,” the affidavit said. “[Frost] and [Williams’] cell phones were dead, so he could not call the Police for assistance. [Frost] panicked and threw [Williams’] cell phone somewhere in the park, thinking no one would believe his account. [Frost] collected [Williams’] earbud case and threw it away in a trash can. [Frost] walked to a nearby grocery store to charge his cell phone.”

Prosecutors charged Frost with negligent homicide, determining that while he caused Williams’ death, they did not believe there was sufficient evidence to prove intent to kill under Arizona law, KNXV reported.

“County Attorney Mitchell extends her heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim in this case,” the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said in a statement to the station. “We want the public to understand that charging decisions are not a measure of the value of a victim’s life but are instead based on evidence available and the legal standards we are required to meet to bring charges forward.”

But the decision has drawn criticism from Williams’ family members, who have publicly called for Frost to be brought up on more serious charges.

“This is the place where our daughter was strangled, left to die, and where animals were eating her body for hours,” Mike Williams, her father, told KPNX. “With all the evidence, the intent, and the history, we don’t understand why this isn’t being charged as murder or at least manslaughter.”

The parents also emphasized Frost’s alleged history of violence against women. Frost is reportedly accused of assaulting another woman in Yavapai County, Arizona, shortly before he started dating Williams.

Frost’s trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 13, records show.

Crackdown Intensifies: Double Fines Target Unfair Fuel Pricing Amid Ongoing Crisis

0
Petrol companies caught ripping off Australian drivers will now face fines of up to $100 million, as the government seeks to respond to growing anxiety about the fuel crisis sparked by the war in the Middle East.

The Senate has voted to significantly increase the maximum penalties that the consumer protection agency can impose for misconduct, amidst ongoing debates over reducing the fuel excise and concerns about possible fuel rationing.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, along with Treasurer Jim Chalmers, announced that the new measures aim to address “price gouging.” However, the Greens have criticized these changes as inadequate, while the opposition has accused the government of responding too slowly and sending “mixed messages.”

Authorities at every level are grappling with the inflationary pressures following Iran’s de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a crisis triggered by US and Israeli actions that resulted in the death of Iran’s former supreme leader.

The revised penalties address several issues, including making false or misleading claims about price hikes, engaging in price fixing, collusion, other forms of cartel activity, and the abuse of market power, alongside other anti-competitive practices.

Albanese emphasized that the newly enacted legislation would effectively tackle petrol price exploitation.

“We’re doubling penalties for companies doing the wrong thing,” he said.

“Because there’s no excuse for increasing profits at the expense of Australians.”

Labor Senator Katy Gallagher said the changes were about “making sure Australian families get a fair go”.

“My message to fuel companies is clear,” the finance minister told the Senate.

“If you do the right thing by your customers, our government is here to support you. But if you take advantage of foreign conflicts and take Australians for mugs, the ACCC will throw the book at you.”

“This so-called crackdown on price gouging is a con,” Queensland Senator Larissa Waters said.

“It will do nothing to stop price gouging, and it won’t stop corporations using the cover of war to rip people off.

“It does not do what it says on the tin. This legislation increases penalties for companies caught lying about ripping you off, but it doesn’t actually stop them from ripping you off, which it could do if the Greens’ amendment passes.”

The Liberals, meanwhile, accused the government of not taking the fuel crisis and its potential flow-on effects seriously enough, accusing it of “mixed messages” in its response.

“This is a government that has been caught flat-footed, asleep at the wheel and then in denial about the scale of this crisis,” Senator Jane Hume said.

“Fuel costs are hitting farmers, manufacturers, freight and logistics. They’re hitting small businesses.

“It’s an economy-wide impact that cannot be ignored, and these costs are being directly passed on to consumers.”

A state and federal fuels task force will meet tomorrow ahead of national cabinet next week.

The Commonwealth says supply is secure for now, but the states say distribution is still a major problem.

9News National Affairs Editor Andrew Probyn said he understood the taskforce would likely back a public dashboard to identify service stations that have fuel and those that don’t.

“But given this is quickly becoming a full-blown inflation shock, every jurisdiction is also war-gaming worst-case scenarios, everything from fuel rationing to COVID-style emphasis on essential services,” he said.

” … when or if they get implemented will, of course, be discussed by the premiers and the PM next week.”

Chaos Erupts as Teen Mob Takes Over Downtown Chicago

0

Dramatic scenes unfolded as hundreds of unruly teenagers took to the streets of Chicago, causing chaos and targeting unsuspecting bystanders.

Footage from the event showed the crowd violently attacking a shirtless individual and erupting into chaos in the heart of the downtown Loop area on Wednesday night.

Despite the presence of several police vehicles nearby, officers apparently did not step in to halt the disturbances, as captured in the videos.

The Community Intelligence Unit (CIU), a private security organization, reported that at least one teenager was rendered unconscious, multiple vehicles suffered damage, and several arrests were made during the incident.

CIU further noted that bear mace was employed amid the disorder, with videos revealing rioters using tasers against one another and innocent bystanders.

Chicago City Alderman Brian Hopkins announced a curfew for 10pm to help bring the chaos to a close, saying the situation got ‘out of control’.

He said the curfew order led the crowd to mostly disperse by 10.40pm, saying that it had an ‘immediate impact’ after hours of violence.

Locals say similar scenes are becoming more common under the leadership of Mayor Brandon Johnson, with gangs of teens known to frequently overwhelm the popular Loop district late at night with little resistance from authorities.

Members of the CIU said they were attending to the unconscious man and tried to ‘provide assistance and help stabilize the situation as best as possible until additional help arrived.’

It is unclear how many people were arrested amid the takeover, with footage showing several men in handcuffs being surrounded by cops to keep them away from the mob. The Daily Mail has contacted the local police for more information.

Reports also suggest some teens were caught fighting on the tracks of the Chicago subway system.

The avalanche of teens taking over the city’s downtown came as Chicago Public Schools broke for spring break this week.

Community activist Sandie Norman said she waded into the wild scenes to document the situation, saying on social media that she was stunned by the lack of intervention.

‘I’m just trying to figure out where are all the outreach people, all the people who are on TV with the mayor, all the violence prevention people?’ she wrote.

‘This is what’s going on down here in the city of Chicago. Only people I see out here are Chicago police trying to maintain control down here and kids.’

The CIU also said that Wednesday night’s incident was far from the first time Chicago’s downtown has been overrun by teens in recent times.

‘This is bigger than just one night. This is a growing issue,’ the group said.

‘We need community support. We need parental accountability. We need guidance and structure for our youth.

‘Parents please be aware of where your children are, who they are with, and what they are involved in. Situations like this are becoming more frequent and more dangerous.

‘This behavior is getting out of hand, and it will take all of us working together to put an end to it.’

Alderman Hopkins has previously called for social media companies to be held responsible for Chicago’s teen takeover issue.

He said platforms often host pages for the takeovers and allow teens to organize.

Last year, one of the takeovers turned deadly after a 14-year-old was shot in November.

The Daily Mail has contacted Mayor Johnson’s office for comment.

Dolores Catania Takes on Protective Role with New Rhode Island Housewives

Dolores Catania is making waves with her presence on the cast of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island. Her influence has been nothing short of transformative for the group, as highlighted by her fellow cast member, Jo-Ellen Tiberi. In an exclusive chat with Us Weekly, Tiberi gushed about Catania’s nurturing nature, describing her as a “mama bear” who offers unwavering support and guidance to her new reality TV family. “Even now, she’s always there to help us with whatever we need,” Tiberi shared, underscoring the lasting impact of Catania’s kindness and intelligence.

This sentiment is echoed by other members of the cast, including Kelsey Swanson and Alicia Carmody, who view Catania as a mentor during this new adventure. Despite her roots in New Jersey, Catania seamlessly blends into the Rhode Island scene, according to Carmody, who told Us that Catania possesses a certain Rhode Island flair that makes her a natural fit among them.

Rulla Pontarelli also expressed her admiration for Catania, recounting their initial meeting with enthusiasm. “We connected right away and shared the same perspective,” Pontarelli revealed to Us. “Dolores is someone I truly admire. She brings so much to our dynamic, offering candid insights and genuine advice drawn from her own experiences.”

Several of the women — including Kelsey Swanson and Alicia Carmody — thought of Dolores as a “mentor” through this new phase of their lives. Despite being a New Jersey native, Alicia told Us that Dolores also has “that Rhode Island thing to her,” which made her fit right in.

“When Dolores and I first met, we completely hit it off. We saw eye to eye. I felt her genuine vibe,” Rulla Pontarelli told Us. “I love Dolores. I really do. I feel as though she’s brought a lot to the table. She’s been very candid. She’s been very genuine, speaking from experience.”

Ashley I. Hints at Whether 'RHORI' Will Impact Jared Haibon Marriage

Ashley Iaconetti isn’t too worried about The Real Housewives of Rhode Island impacting her relationship with husband Jared Haibon. “I know that since we’ve been through the spotlight together, that neither of us are going to feel affected by it,” Ashley, 38, told Us Weekly exclusively during the RHORI cast’s first interviews. “We have been […]

Rulla called Dolores “an asset” to the entire RHORI cast for their debut season.

News broke on Tuesday, March 24, that Dolores will return to The Real Housewives of New Jersey for season 15, but Bravo fans will get their fix even sooner by seeing Dolores in a “friend of” role when RHORI premieres.

Dolores was brought onto the show through main cast member and best friend Liz McGraw.

“Liz has been asking me for a few years to come to Rhode Island,” Dolores explained to Us.

With RHONJ on pause last summer, Dolores was able to film in Rhode Island — but don’t expect her to make the move permanent.

“My heart is [in New Jersey], but you can find me every summer in Rhode Island for the rest of my life,” she gushed.

Dolores also told Us that she enjoyed the “different role” she played on RHORI. She even went to former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey for advice before securing her “friend of” slot.

“She goes, ‘You know what, Dolores? It’s a really great role,’” Dolores recalled.

After filming the season, she agreed with Cynthia’s take. “It was great. It was great to see the girls do such a good job,” she teased. “They weren’t trying to be like other Housewives at all. They were just themselves, and I am so proud of them. They gave it 100 percent. They worked really hard. They filmed a ton. They put their lives out there.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Launch New Polo-Themed Production Following Previous Setbacks

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visit the World Central Kitchen Food at the Jordan Country Office in Amman, Jordan

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, are once again venturing into the world of content creation for Netflix. Despite a recent hiccup where Netflix’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, unfollowed Meghan on Instagram and the streaming company concluded its partnership with her As Ever brand, the couple remains committed to their creative endeavors with Netflix.

Reports from Deadline reveal that the Sussexes are pressing forward with their Netflix agreement, collaborating through their Archewell Productions alongside Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire. This marks another chapter in their ongoing relationship with the streaming giant.

As the Duke and Duchess continue to navigate their post-royal careers, their work with Netflix underscores their dedication to storytelling and expanding their influence beyond traditional royal duties. Fans and followers will undoubtedly be eager to see how this new project unfolds and adds to the growing portfolio of the Sussexes’ media endeavors.

According to Deadline, the former working royals are honoring their Netflix deal with a collab between Archewell Productions and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire.

The outlet reported that the new series will be a scripted drama written by Francisca X. Hu and “The drama is believed to stem from the docuseries Polo, which followed the teams competing at the U.S. Open Polo Championship held in Wellington, and the family dynasties involved.”

“A passion project of Prince Harry, an avid polo player who has a lot of friends in that world, the docuseries did not draw a lot of eyeballs and ran for one season. The scripted show is widening the scope of what is considered an elitist ‘sport of kings’ beyond the rich owners and players.”

Following this news, social media lit up with many wondering why the duke and duchess “haven’t learned” and are going to produce another program based on the same subject that flopped. Polo, which was released in December 2024, did not rank high on the list of Netflix’s most-watched shows. It didn’t land in the Top 50, the Top 100, or even the Top 1000. It ranked 3,436th among all Netflix productions in 2025 via the “What We Watched” report.

One X user wrote, “What in the absolute world?? Revisiting polo … because the first time sparked absolutely no curiosity? At some point, you have to question whether this is content strategy or just contract fulfillment. It’s neither, so it’s money being thrown at the wall when the results will be 0.”

A second posted, “So they put out a polo series on Netflix that completely bombed and had no interest, so they’re going to do more? These two are about as dense as it gets. They have no ideas. No talents. And no personality or interest. The public literally doesn’t care about them.”

The Royal News Network account added, “Their Polo documentary was terrible, so the answer is to make it a scripted series instead. We’ll see if this actually gets off the ground but I imagine this is a project the streaming giant threw their way. Variety stated that Netflix was always trying to find something for them to produce as they’re so wildly devoid of any creative or producing talent. I imagine this reflects a divide in Netflix over Harry and Meghan. Some clearly feel that any deal with them is largely worthless but someone, I imagine Bela Bajaria, is determined to stick with them no matter how much money is wasted.”

Others don’t buy the story that a new show is even happening, commenting, “Bull****. Harry’s first Polo docu-series absolutely bombed, yet you expect us to believe that Netflix is interested in another show about polo that no one will watch? Right,” “This is nothing but Meg’s PR team working overtime … they’re delirious,” and “Just trying to stay in the news. It’s something different every day now.”

Larsa Pippen recently faced criticism on Instagram after posting a photo where she not only seemed to look altered but also had a noticeably distorted background.

In what appears to be the latest Photoshop slip-up for the 51-year-old star of Real Housewives of Miami, Larsa is photographed in full glam, her hair styled in curls, while posing in light blue lingerie on a bed with a warped mirror and shelving unit visible behind her.

Captioning the photo with “In for the night,” Larsa shared the image on March 18.

Other comments said things like, “Larsa… you don’t look like this,” and asked, “Lmao who is this?”

In other RHOM news, the Bravo series has been put on pause amid casting issues and Todd Nepola‘s recently dropped lawsuit against the network.

Following the news of the show’s pause, Larsa shared her reaction on her Instagram Story, posting an emoji with its hands raised in the air after someone shaded the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City.

“Not happy…then they keep [RHONY] which is terrible without the old cast members,” the person had written.

No word yet on when cameras will pick back up for Real Housewives of Miami season eight.

Iranian Missile Interceptions Reach 90%, Sparking Concerns Over Rising Costs

0

In the annals of military history, the 1991 Operation Desert Storm is often remembered for the remarkable success of the Patriot missile systems. These advanced defense mechanisms were instrumental in intercepting Iraqi Scud missiles, earning the soldiers involved in that operation a place of honor. Many veterans of Desert Storm would still gladly raise a glass to those Patriot operators who played a crucial role in the campaign’s outcome.

Fast forward to today’s Operation Epic Fury, and the nature of aerial threats has evolved significantly. Our forces, along with allied troops, now face a modern challenge: not just ballistic missiles, but also swarms of inexpensive drones. While our defenses have achieved an impressive success rate of over 90 percent in neutralizing these threats, some manage to slip through. This introduces a new dilemma—the cost disparity between our expensive interceptors and the cheap drones they are deployed against.

It seems that Iran anticipated this aspect of modern warfare, leveraging low-cost drones as a countermeasure. However, our strategic foresight has not faltered. Our military response includes targeting the launch platforms themselves, a tactic reminiscent of our approach in 1991. Yet, the current scenario presents a unique challenge: drones can be launched from something as inconspicuous as a pickup truck, which can quickly vanish from detection. Despite these hurdles, the situation is far from hopeless. Iran’s strategy includes striking energy infrastructures and deploying cluster munitions, often in civilian zones. Nevertheless, the logistical superiority clearly lies with our allies. We have the flexibility to adapt tactics and switch to alternative weapon systems, like the A-10 Warthog attack planes, while Iran’s resources dwindle with every shot fired.

Now is the crucial moment to capitalize on these advantages and conclude the mission decisively.

But beneath that success lies a widening imbalance that could shape the next phase of the conflict.

The report highlights a critical trend: Iran’s least expensive weapons are proving the most disruptive and are draining costly U.S. and Israeli interceptors.

This was no doubt part of Iran’s plan for countering any such attack. Fortunately, our side anticipated it too:

A surge of U.S. assets before the war, including Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), batteries, Patriot systems, two carrier strike groups and roughly 200 fighter aircraft, helped absorb Iran’s opening salvos and maintain high interception rates, according to JINSA’s report.

But Ari Cicurel, associate director of foreign policy at JINSA and author of the report, said focusing only on interception percentages misses the bigger picture.

“Overall high missile and drone interception rates have been important but only tell part of the story,” Cicurel told Fox News Digital. “Iran came into this war with a deliberate plan to dismantle the architecture that makes those intercepts possible. It has struck energy infrastructure to upset markets and used cluster munitions to achieve higher hit rates.”

Our forces are responding by going after launchers, which we did in 1991 as well. But the drones Iran is using can be launched from a pickup truck, which can then essentially disappear. It’s a challenge, but not an insurmountable one. Yes, Iran has been targeting energy infrastructure, yes, they have been using cluster munitions, including in civilian areas. But the overwhelming logistic advantage remains with the allies. We can switch tactics, we can switch to different weapon systems, such as deploying the A-10 Warthog attack planes. Iran cannot. Every weapon they shoot is one less they have to shoot. Their logistical chain is collapsing, and the regime is coming apart.

This is the time to finish the job.

MLB Icon Barry Bonds Unveils Surprising Reason for Declining Yankees Offer

0

The New York Yankees cruised to a dominant 7-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants, but it was an unexpected revelation from special guest analyst Barry Bonds that stole the spotlight during Netflix’s Opening Day coverage.

In a candid in-game discussion with the Netflix broadcast team, anchored by play-by-play announcer Matt Vasgersian, Bonds looked back on his free agency journey in 1992 after achieving three MVP titles with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

“I’ve got a story to share because George isn’t around anymore, so now I can tell the truth, right?” Bonds said intriguingly.

Bonds was alluding to the late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, who passed away in 2010 but whose legacy is still carried on by his family members who manage the team.

Recounting a phone call from Steinbrenner, Bonds disclosed that he was offered the chance to become the “highest-paid player at that time,” though there was a significant condition attached to the deal.

‘”You have to sign the contract by two o’clock this afternoon,”‘ Bonds recalled Steinbrenner telling him. ‘And I said, “excuse me?” and just hung up the phone.’

Bonds claimed he hung up the phone on George Steinbrenner, who was trying to make him the highest-paid player in baseball at the time. Ultimately Bonds decided to sign with the Giants

To anyone familiar with Steinbrenner, known for his erratic temper and willingness to spend on free agents, the story was an absolute showstopper. And as Bonds remarked, his agent was left in disbelief by his abrupt phone call with the owner known throughout baseball as ‘the Boss.’

‘Wow!’ several members of the Netflix booth were heard saying in response to Bonds’s claim.

And he wasn’t finished.

Bonds said he went to get lunch after hanging up on Steinbrenner and received a phone call from the Giants soon thereafter. And seeing as his father, Bobby, had his best years in San Francisco, which was Barry’s hometown, he happily agreed to join the Giants for $43.7 million.

‘I said, “I’m going home.”‘

Naturally, that story got a major reaction on social media, where fans marveled at the possibilities.

Bonds, who retired as baseball’s all-time home run leader amid allegations of steroid use, likely would have added to his total of 762 dingers had he benefitted from old Yankee Stadium’s short right-field porch.

‘That’s crazy,’ one fan remarked. ‘Barry would [have] had 1000 career home runs with the Yankees.’

Many more fans remarked on Bonds going without a World Series title as the Yankees won four of their record 27 championships between 1993 and his final season, 2007.

‘And you retired with no rings,’ one critic wrote. ‘Yikes.’

Other fans poked fun at the late Steinbrenner, who famously hired and fired Billy Martin as manager five times.

‘Steinbrenner just rose from the grave to confirm the story and to fire Billy Martin one last time,’ one fan quipped.

Curiously, Steinbrenner’s suspension went unmentioned in the discussion.

The irascible ship builder from Cleveland was banned from day-to-day operations of the team by then-commissioner Fay Vincent in 1990 for allegedly hiring a gambler to find dirt on star outfielder Dave Winfield.

At the time, Winfield was suing the Yankees for failing to donate $300,000 to his foundation, which was reportedly guaranteed in his contract.

Steinbrenner’s suspension wasn’t lifted until March 1, 1993 — several months after Bonds’s story was supposed to have taken place.

It’s unclear if Steinbrenner would have been banned from directly contacting Bonds at that time, but as far as the phone call, the 61-year-old baseball great insisted he was being honest.

‘It’s the truth,’ Bonds said before taking his exit.

Missed Flight Due to Long Airport Lines? Here’s What to Do Next

(NewsNation) — Lengthy security lines at airports, stemming from TSA staffing shortages, are leading to missed flights for many travelers. In response, airlines are stepping in to waive change fees for some passengers affected by these delays.

Typically, airlines are not obligated to assist passengers who miss their flights due to security holdups. However, according to Clint Henderson, managing editor at The Points Guy, airlines often attempt to rebook these travelers on the next available flight.

“The challenge arises during busy periods like spring break when seats are scarce. An airline might not have an available flight for a couple of days,” Henderson explained.

In light of the situation, major airlines such as Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are providing flexible rebooking options for passengers at airports experiencing the worst delays. Delta is focusing on Atlanta, while United is addressing issues at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental.

Henderson advises travelers who suspect they might miss their flights to contact their airline immediately to secure rebooking options before they run out.

“Stay in the security line, call the airline, get on the airline app, get on social media, do all the things that you can to try to get yourself protected,” he said.

In a travel advisory, the airline said, “Due to longer security wait times, travel originating from ATL may be affected.”

According to the advisory, impacted travelers between March 23 and March 30 who rebook on or before April 6 will have fare differences waived, provided they remain in the same cabin.

For those who reschedule beyond the April 6 window, Delta said change fees will still be waived, though a fare difference may apply.

Customers who can’t reschedule within the given timeframe can also cancel their reservation and apply any unused ticket value toward the purchase of a new ticket within a year.

Atlanta airport officials are currently advising passengers to allow at least four hours to get through security.

United Airlines

United is waiving change fees and fare differences for eligible travelers affected at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, where security lines have stretched beyond four hours in recent days.

The waiver applies to passengers who rebook a new United flight departing as late as March 27, provided they remain in the same cabin and between the same cities, with some exceptions for nearby airports.

The extra flexibility applies to those who purchased their original ticket on or before March 22.

American Airlines

Travelers who miss flights due to longer-than-normal airport security lines will be “reaccommodated free of charge on the next flight with seats available, in accordance with our longstanding policy,” an American Airlines spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the airline’s website listed active travel waivers tied to the recent LaGuardia closure and the conflict in the Middle East.

Southwest Airlines

A Southwest spokesperson said the airline has not seen any significant issues with its operation recently.

“We are assisting customers in airports experiencing extended wait times, including waivers to change travel, accepting checked bags well in advance of scheduled flights, and rebooking customers who miss their flights with no additional charge,” spokesperson Chris Perry said in an email.

Not all airports are affected as staffing levels fluctuate

Security wait times have varied widely from airport to airport — and even hour to hour.

Part of that is because some airports have been hit harder by TSA staffing shortages than others, with conditions shifting day to day.

A partial government shutdown has left TSA officers working without pay since mid-February, and more than 450 have left the workforce so far.

On Tuesday, about 11% of the scheduled TSA officers — more than 3,160 — called out from work, according to the Department of Homeland Security. At some airports, including Atlanta, Houston and JFK in New York, callout rates were around 40%.

The unpredictable staffing has made it difficult for travelers to plan ahead — with some arriving hours early only to breeze through security, while others have encountered hourslong lines or found expedited screening options like TSA PreCheck and CLEAR unavailable.

“Most major airports have done a fairly good job of keeping things moving,” Henderson said, noting that the worst of the recent delays have largely been concentrated in the New York City area as well as Houston, Atlanta and New Orleans.

How to check airport security wait times

Several major airports continue to publish real-time TSA wait time data, allowing travelers to check conditions before heading to the airport.

Others, including Hartsfield-Jackson, JFK and Baltimore/Washington International Airport, have temporarily stopped posting that data.

Parolee Allegedly Involved in Fatal Incident with Stolen Vehicle, Police Report

0

A notorious repeat offender in Tennessee has been taken into custody after a fatal incident involving a stolen vehicle. The suspect, Ray Eugene Padgett, 52, is alleged to have commandeered a pickup truck, subsequently leading police on a high-speed chase. This pursuit tragically concluded when Padgett crashed into another vehicle, resulting in the death of its driver, a young woman aged 23.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has identified the victim as Oluwalayomi Fadero. In light of this incident, Padgett faces serious charges including criminally negligent homicide and vehicular homicide by recklessness. These charges reflect the gravity of the accident that claimed Fadero’s life.

Furthermore, Padgett is also facing additional legal challenges, being charged with felony reckless endangerment, attempted criminal homicide, and operating a vehicle with a revoked license. His actions have highlighted concerns over his criminal history and the implications of his parole status.

Prior to this tragic event, Padgett was already on parole, with a record that includes over 20 criminal convictions spread across five counties in Tennessee. This history casts a shadow on his recent actions and the leniency of the criminal justice system concerning repeat offenders.

Ray Eugene Padgett

Currently, Ray Eugene Padgett is being held on charges that include criminally negligent homicide and vehicular homicide by recklessness, with his bond set at $805,000. His arrest and subsequent charges serve as a reminder of the dangers posed by repeat offenders and the tragic consequences of their actions on innocent lives. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department continues its investigation into this harrowing incident.

Padgett, police say, is suspected of stealing the pickup truck from a Nashville car lot on Friday, March 20.

The owner of the lot was able to track the truck to an alley off St. Louis Street in North Nashville, police said. Authorities say that the owner of the lot followed Padgett and spotted the stolen F-250.

Padgett allegedly put the truck in reverse and rammed the vehicle the owner was in before fleeing. Charges related to those occurrences are anticipated, police noted.

Padgett kept driving in the stolen vehicle and, according to WSMV, a second ramming occurred as police began tracking the stolen truck via helicopter.

“The intention at that point is to keep an eye on the truck until it finally stops, have ground units move in, and take the man into custody,” MNPD Public Information Officer Don Aaron told the local outlet.

Police said that the driver spotted an unmarked police car in the median and rammed it before leading authorities on an approximately 5-minute car chase.

The chase ended around 2:30 p.m. when Padgett crossed into oncoming traffic and Oluwalayomi Fadero’s white Hyundai Elantra, pushing them about 100 yards into a ditch, police said.

Fadero was pronounced dead at the scene.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s College of Nursing remembered Fadero as “a valued member of the August 2026 cohort” who was in the college’s accelerated nursing school.

“She brought light to those around her through her kindness, generosity, beautiful smile, and genuine passion for helping others,” they said.

A GoFundMe for Fadero says she was turning onto the road where she lived when she was killed.

“She was simply on her way home, and her dog Nala was with her in the car,” the fundraiser said, adding that “miraculously, Nala survived the crash and was reunited with Oluwalayomi’s loved ones.”

“The loss of Oluwalayomi has left a deep void in the hearts of everyone who knew her,” it said.

Fadero was set to complete a nursing degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in August.
