ARCHER, Fla. – Corey Jamaal Daniels, 25, was arrested yesterday on two warrants and additional charges from four other incidents after a three-hour search in Archer.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that a man approached him yesterday morning at the Circle K at 12771 SW SR 45 in Archer to say that another man, later identified as Daniels, was “hiding and watching” the deputy from behind the donation box in the Save-a-Lot parking lot. While the deputy was still in the Circle K parking lot, Daniels reportedly ran across the Save-a-Lot parking lot and hid behind the building while continuing to watch the deputy around the corner of the building.
The deputy reported that he drove his patrol car to the Save-a-Lot parking lot, where Daniels walked past him. The deputy asked Daniels who he was and why he was behind the business but reported that Daniels “had a blank expression” and replied with short answers that did not dispel the deputy’s suspicions about his activities.
The deputy gave him a notepad, and Daniels allegedly wrote the name “Anthony Davis.” When the deputy asked for his driver’s license, he reportedly said he lost it but said he had one. Daniels also reportedly said he didn’t know his social security number and that he “smoked too much” and couldn’t remember his birthdate. The deputy reported that he offered to call EMS out of concern that Daniels had just admitted to smoking so much that he couldn’t remember his birthdate, but Daniels reportedly declined the offer.
The deputy reported that Daniels began to shift around, so he told Daniels he was being detained; at that point, Daniels allegedly pulled away and ran across the parking lot. The deputy was unable to apprehend him.

While deputies were searching for Daniels, a woman approached the deputy to report that Daniels had stolen her phone. She said that she was with Daniels at the Circle K and was trying to help him with money to get an Uber driver. She said Daniels became frustrated and grabbed her phone, then refused to give it back when she asked for it. She said that when Daniels saw the deputy enter the Circle K parking lot, he had told her to keep her mouth shut and not tell the deputy he was there, then he ran across the Save-a-Lot parking lot with her phone. She provided the deputy with Daniels’ name.
Several hours later, the manager of the Family Dollar on SR 45 also approached the deputy to report that Daniels had stolen clothing from the store. The manager reportedly said that Daniels had been in the store for nearly an hour and had changed into a shirt, a pair of pants, and gloves, then left the store without paying. The manager said Daniels had walked north on SR 45 toward the Circle K, and he was arrested a short time later in that area.
During the investigation, a woman approached the deputy and reported that Daniels had broken into the management office at Archer Homes Apartments in July; she had called in the burglary when she witnessed it, but the responding deputies were unable to locate Daniels. The deputy noted that the apartment complex had called in the attempted burglary and damage to the window screen the next morning. The woman said she recognized Daniels because he visits her neighbor’s apartment.
Daniels, who is described as homeless in court documents, was also arrested on two warrants. One was for violating probation in a 2021 domestic battery case by not reporting to his probation officer and by moving from his reported address; the violation report stated that the probation officer did not know where he was living. The other warrant was for a September 2023 sworn complaint for domestic battery and resisting arrest.
Daniels is facing charges of prowling, providing false identification to law enforcement, resisting an officer, theft, burglary, and robbery by sudden snatching. He has two felony convictions (both violent) and served a four-year sentence in state prison. Daniels is being held without bond on the probation violation and on a total bond of $205,000 on the other charges.
