Open Heaven 18 March 2026 Wednesday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Remember Your Creator

Open Heaven 18 March 2026 TOPIC – Remember Your Creator

MEMORISE: Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; – Ecclesiastes 12:1 (KJV)

READ: Mark 11:12-20 (KJV)

12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

19 And when even was come, he went out of the city.

20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 14-16

Open Heaven 18 March 2026 MESSAGE

Today’s Bible reading tells the story of how Jesus saw a fig tree from afar and approached it because He was hungry. On getting to the tree, He discovered that it had no fruit on it even though it had many leaves, and He cursed it. One lesson we can learn from this story is that God expects every living thing to be productive; He created everything for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11) and wants them to reveal His glory.

One detail that used to baffle me any time I read the passage in today’s Bible reading is that the time for figs had not yet come (Mark 11:13). I used to think to myself, “If it wasn’t the season for figs, why did Jesus expect the fig tree to have fruit?” I later realised that, where the issue of time is concerned, God’s time is always the right time. For instance, if God wakes you up at 3am or 4am, it is wrong to tell Him that it is too early for you to wake up. No matter how early the Sovereign God wakes you up, it means your day has begun – His time is always the right time.

In today’s memory verse, God instructs young people to remember Him while they are still in their youth. This means that the best time to serve God is when a person is young. It is best for people to surrender their hearts and lives to God in the morning of their years because those who seek God early will always find Him (Proverbs 8:17). If you are a young person and you are reading this, Jesus wants your heart now; He wants you to bear fruits for His kingdom now that you’re still young. He wants you to be fervent in spirit, serving Him (Romans 12:11). Don’t squander your youth on the altar of sin or waste it by pursuing unimportant things; seek God early. Do not be like the fig tree, which had nothing to offer Jesus when He came seeking fruit from it. God has commanded us to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28); however, to be fruitful, you must cultivate a vibrant relationship with Him because you can do nothing without Him (John 15:4).

Beloved, I plead with you to remember your Creator in the days of your youth. Even if you are no longer a youth, dedicate the rest of your life to serving Him, and He will beautify your life with His glory.

Remember your Creator now.

Open Heaven 18 March 2026 HYMN 7 – I Am Thine O Lord

1 l am Thine, O Lord
I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer bless Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3 Oh the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee,
my God
I commune as friend with friend!

4 There are depths of love
that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy
that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

DCLM Daily Manna 19 March 2026 — Aversion To Waiting

DCLM Daily Manna 19 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Aversion To Waiting

TOPIC: Aversion To Waiting (DCLM Daily Manna 19 March 2026)

KEY VERSE: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation – 2 Peter 3:3,4

TEXT: 2 Peter 3:1-4 (KJV)

1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Sometimes in military life, soldiers will rush to meet a deadline, only to be told to pump the brakes shortly after. It’s a frustrating phenomenon. While waiting for the Gulf War, which formally began on January 17, 1991, some soldiers did experience frustration, and some instances of discharging their weapons in a non combat situation occurred. However, this was not a widespread or intended act of combat. It was primarily done out of boredom and frustration, leading to some accidental shootings.

In Christianity, we are called soldiers of Christ and often prepare only to wait for the second coming of Christ. The exact date and time of this coming is unknown, except to the Father. Some believers, particularly those in the days of Apostle Peter, listened to scoffers, questioning the likelihood of Christ returning as promised. These scoffers argued that nothing significant has happened since creation to lend credence to the promise of God to come and establish His kingdom on earth. They overlooked the first coming of Christ, just a few short years before, a promise fulfilled. Peter points out biblical incidents from Noah’s day that these scoffers overlooked.

We struggle with delays and do not like to wait. Our culture abhors waiting. Yes, we wait less today than men have ever waited. Today, travel and communication have become very fast. Cooking meals takes minutes instead of hours, and people now buy expensive items like cars and homes on credit rather than saving. These are items people used to have to wait until they had cash to buy. Many are also not waiting until marriage for intimacy.

Men do not enjoy waiting for anything, or anyone, including waiting for God. However, believers throughout history have waited on God. Noah waited 120 years for the flood. Abraham and Sarah waited 25 years for their promised son, and their descendants waited over 400 years for the Promised Land. Critics who doubt God’s timing are wrong. We should remain patient, as God will come at His own time. Their argument is scripturally baseless. Let us keep waiting patiently, for He will come when He will come.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
If you go by the scoffers’ map, you’ll go astray.

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller Passes at 81: Trump’s Candid Reaction to the Controversial Russia Probe

0

Robert Mueller, who once served as the FBI Director and spearheaded the widely scrutinized special counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election alongside the Trump campaign’s possible involvement, passed away on Friday at the age of 81.

Mueller’s family disclosed that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the summer of 2021. This degenerative condition had noticeably affected him over the past few years, leading to speech and mobility challenges that even resulted in the cancellation of scheduled congressional testimony as recently as last year.

As of now, the exact cause of his death remains undisclosed.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce Bob’s passing last night,” the family stated, as reported by the New York Times. They also requested that their privacy be honored during this difficult time.

Mueller, at times, was lionized by the left for dragging down President Trump’s first term with endless investigations into the Russia collusion hoax, but also served as an object of derision after his report and a particularly difficult congressional hearing in 2019 in which he struggled to deliver on expectations, failing to yield any true conspiratorial bombshells.

Mueller appeared hesitant at the aforementioned hearing. He seemed tired, and at times struggled to keep up—leading to criticism even from some on the left who had hoped the public testimony would dramatize key findings in his famed report. The Mueller report ultimately found that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election, but failed to establish that members of the Trump Campaign at the time conspired or coordinated with them.

Mueller’s two-year investigation consumed more than $30 million in taxpayer funds and resulted in no findings of conspiracy or coordination. While the probe secured several convictions—mostly process crimes unrelated to collusion—it ultimately failed to deliver the explosive evidence many in the media and Democratic circles had hoped for. It was a high-priced failure.

President Trump, who often criticized Mueller’s probe as a hoax or “witch hunt,” showed no interest in making amends upon hearing of his death.

“Robert Mueller just died,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!”

That blunt response underscores the lingering bitterness over an investigation that weaponized abuse of power to a degree rarely seen in American politics and eroded trust in federal institutions beyond repair.

Mueller’s earlier tenure as FBI Director from 2001 to 2013, spanning both the Bush and Obama administrations, will forever be overshadowed by his final, deeply polarizing chapter.

Intense Heat Persists Across Southwest U.S., Reaches as Far as Nebraska

0

Once again, parts of California and Arizona found themselves under extreme heat warnings this past Saturday, with an unseasonal wave of oppressive heat extending as far north as Nebraska, even though spring had just begun.

The Southwest was bracing for temperatures reaching or exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.7 C), capping off a week marked by unprecedented heat records. Experts predict that the months of April, May, and June are likely to experience above-normal temperatures across much of the United States.

Win Marsh and her husband, Stephen, were among those feeling the heat’s impact. They decided to cut short their ambitious hiking trip in Arizona, which began at the Mexican border and covered 170 miles (273 kilometers) over two weeks. Their ultimate goal was to complete the over 800-mile (1,287-kilometer) Arizona Trail.

“We understand our limitations,” Marsh, who is 63, remarked on Saturday. “Hiking becomes impossible when our bodies can’t cool down. There’s no shade to offer relief, and water sources are vanishing. We assured our children we’d avoid risky situations. We’re not looking for an adventure that ends in a search-and-rescue operation.”

The National Weather Service was forecasting temperatures to reach 100 degrees (37.7 C) in Tucson, Arizona. In the Yuma Desert, a community in southwestern Arizona, the forecast expected the mercury to rise to 105 degrees (40.5 C), following a day when temperatures soared to 112 degrees (43.3 C)—setting a new record for the highest recorded temperature in March in the United States.

Two places in Southern California also hit that temperature Friday. Experts say triple-digit days typically arrive by May, not March.

In the Midwest, temperatures exceeding 90 (32.2 C) were predicted across Nebraska, followed by a big drop to the 50s and 60s Sunday. A red flag warning was posted, which means a higher risk for wildfires. Parts of Texas were also at 90 or higher Saturday.

March’s heat would have been virtually impossible without human-caused climate change, according to a report Friday by World Weather Attribution, an international group of scientists who study the causes of extreme weather events.

Rhapsody Of Realities 19 March 2026: A Life Giver—Radiant, Lambent And Divine

Rhapsody Of Realities 19 March 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): A Life Giver—Radiant, Lambent And Divine

TOPIC: A Life Giver—Radiant, Lambent And Divine (Rhapsody of Realities 19 March 2026)

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

When you were born again, an actual change took place in your spirit. It wasn’t a mere transformation of your mindset or a shift in your way of thinking. No! You were literally reborn, recreated by the Holy Spirit. That’s why the Scriptures affirm, “…If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Whereas the natural man, the man that’s not born again, is of the earth and a mere living soul, you’re a life-giving spirit. You bear the image of the heavenly: “The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly” (1 Corinthians 15:47-48). You’re a heavenly man. Hallelujah! You’re not of this world.

Your life came from the Lord Jesus Christ, the second and last Adam. He’s the head of a new race, the new creation. You’re taxonomically different from the natural man. For example, despite sharing the same earthly parents, if you’re born again and you have a sibling who isn’t, you both belong to completely different realms. Outwardly, you may look the same, but in the Spirit, you are worlds apart.

The one who isn’t born again is called darkness while you are called light. The former absorbs light, you radiate it. You emit light, for you’re the light of the world, just as the Lord Jesus is called the true light (John 1:9). As He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17).

Live in the consciousness of your divine origin and identity in Christ. You’re a life giver—radiant, lambent, and divine. Walk in this truth! This is a fundamental truth.

CONFESSION

I’m a new creation in Christ Jesus; I’m not of this world. I have the life of God in me. I’m full of grace and truth. I’m a life-giver, radiant, lambent and divine. I walk in the reality of my heritage and identity in Christ, impacting my world with the glory of God. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 John 4:17 (KJV) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Ephesians 5:8 (KJV) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

1 Corinthians 15:47-49 (AMPC) The first man [was] from out of earth, made of dust (earthly-minded); the second Man [is] the Lord from out of heaven. [48] Now those who are made of the dust are like him who was first made of the dust (earthly-minded); and as is [the Man] from heaven, so also [are those] who are of heaven (heavenly-minded). [49] And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven.

US Prepares for Potential New Threats to Military and Civilians Amid Ongoing Iran Conflict

0

In a tense atmosphere, American forces are on high alert for the grim possibility that Iran might resort to chemical or biological attacks against troops or civilians. This comes amidst President Donald Trump’s ongoing military actions against the nation, insiders reveal.

While the primary concerns remain conventional missiles and drone strikes, there is a lurking threat that Iran may employ more unconventional methods. Experts have indicated to the Daily Mail that these tactics, though not deployed yet, are not off the table.

As the conflict between the United States and Iran enters its fourth week, reports suggest that the hostilities could extend through the summer months. The Pentagon continues its offensive, targeting sites within Iran, while Tehran responds in kind.

The Iranian regime finds itself in a precarious position following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the war’s first day. Adding to the turmoil, the Ayatollah’s son, poised to take over the Islamic Republic, has been absent from the public eye, allegedly due to injuries.

This week saw devastating bombings that claimed the lives of more Iranian leaders. Although the use of chemical weapons by Tehran is currently deemed improbable, analysts warn that such actions could drastically escalate the conflict, particularly as the regime approaches a possible collapse.

Now, experts are warning that Iran’s longstanding chemical and biological weapons knowledge could more seriously be deployed against its enemies – and its own people.

US soldiers, at least 13 of whom have already been killed since the start of the conflict, as well as civilians in the Middle East could be directly targeted.

‘This is all we worried about,’ a former US soldier stationed in the Middle East until recently told the Daily Mail.

‘I carried full MOPP [Mission Oriented Protective Posture] gear everywhere, yet there’s no mention of it in the media. This is their nuke… and it’s totally in the cards right now,’ the ex-soldier added.

MOPP gear is a system of protection against chemical agents, ranging from lower coverage to full biohazard suits, masks and gloves depending on how imminent the threat of a chemical attack is. While deployed soldiers always carry some level of protection, full MOPP, or level 4, is rare in a warzone.

‘All soldiers are trained to protect themselves against chemical weapons. Military units have dedicated Chemical Bio Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) gear to detect and defend against these threats,’ a military official told the Daily Mail.

The use of full protective equipment underscores the US military’s concern that chemical and biological weapons pose a real threat to service members.

The soldier said about Sarin nerve agent specifically: ‘I’ve seen people choke on it, it’s a gnarly, brutal death, and you can’t hide from it – it seeps into everything and through walls.’

The soldier added that the chemical weapons are ‘easy to disperse and put on a warhead, artillery, cruise missile, or drone. Easy peasy.’

He noted how service members on base were ordered to carry their CBRN equipment with them ‘everywhere’ and were trained to put it on within 60 seconds in case of attack.

However, even a relatively contained attack could be highly disruptive, slowing down base operations and necessitating decontamination efforts.

Iran initially developed its chemical weapons program in response to Iraq’s growing capabilities under Saddam Hussein in the 1980s.

Since 1997, the CIA assessed that Iranians could put chemical weapons on missiles, Paul Freidrichs, former senior director for global health security and biodefense at the National Security Council, told the Daily Mail.

Leading biodefense expert Professor Gregory Koblentz said Iran ‘certainly’ has the ability to ‘put chemical or biological payloads into standard rockets and bombs.’

‘That would not be too hard to do,’ he said. ‘It might not be super effective or efficient, but that’s certainly doable.’

The US has destroyed all of its chemical and biological weapons in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention. Above are barrels of mustard and blister agents in the Utah desert before their destruction

But should Iran or any other actor fire chemical or biological weapons at a US base in the Gulf, Koblentz believes US casualties would remain limited, given the widespread CBRN training and gear among the ranks.

The US also takes precautions against biological weapons by mandating vaccines for troops.

The picture would be far bleaker for nearby civilians.

A poorly aimed agent-based weapon or a deliberate targeting of civilians would cause ‘very significant’ casualties, Koblentz stated.

However he added that the odds of the Iranian regime choosing to do so remain ‘extremely small’ because of the retaliatory actions that would be sure to follow from the US, Israel, and other nearby nations.

‘It’s a concern, but it’s pretty low down compared to all of the havoc they can still wreak on the energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf using traditional missiles,’ the professor stated.

‘It affirms, again, concerns about Iran having dual-use capabilities that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction and difficulty verifying that Iran is complying with the international norms to which they are a signatory,’ he said.

Open-source intelligence and reporting suggest that Iran never fully resolved, declared or dismantled its chemical weapon pursuits.

Further, recent reporting suggests that Iran is pressing ahead on dual-use pharmaceutical facilities that can produce both Botox and biohazards.

‘The key thing that the US alleges that Iran is currently doing… is that they’re developing what are called pharmaceutical-based agents as chemical weapons,’ Koblentz said.

Pharmaceutical-based agents (PBAs) are chemicals that have legitimate medical or veterinary use that can also be engineered as crowd-control weapons used against dissidents or enemy soldiers.

They occupy a chilling middle ground between medicine and warfare.

As the Islamic Republic's leadership is killed and the regime appears closer to collapse than ever before, some experts are expressing concern about Iran's long history with chemical weapons and whether it could use them to help country's leaders stay in power

As the Islamic Republic’s leadership is killed and the regime appears closer to collapse than ever before, some experts are expressing concern about Iran’s long history with chemical weapons and whether it could use them to help country’s leaders stay in power

At the lower end of the spectrum are crowd-control agents, irritants that, while not designed to kill, can be devastatingly effective at subduing a population.

‘Typically, these are irritants that will cause people’s eyes to water and their nose to run, and may cause a sense of choking or feeling like you’re having difficulty getting a good breath in,’ Friedrichs explained.

‘They can be very effective at getting a crowd to disperse, because people are now feeling like they’re choking or crying and their nose is running.’

Koblentz noted that Iranian universities have researched how to put PBAs into grenades, a dangerous implication highlighting how such weapons could target civilians.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine hold a briefing amid the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran

In 2023, hackers published designs for grenades to release medetomidine, a sedative, that were reportedly designed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps by researchers at Imam Hossein University. US officials later confirmed the hack.

‘Iranian universities… have done research on certain sedatives… [and] research on how to weaponize these things, and, for example, put them into grenades… that is a military use… and therefore would not be allowed under the Chemical Weapons Convention,’ he continued.

One report from the US military academy at West Point noted how there have been efforts in Iran to produce fentanyl-based weapons.

‘Iran now appears to have produced fentanyl-based or other types of weaponized PBAs and provided these to partners and proxy groups that may have already used them in several cases in Iraq and Syria,’ a 2024 report from West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center claims.

The research of fentanyl-based agents represents perhaps the most alarming branch of Iran’s alleged PBA program.

Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid already responsible for mass casualties in the American drug crisis, can be aerosolized and engineered to render victims unconscious or cause respiratory failure at very small doses.

The State Department concluded in 2020 that Iran’s PBA research included compounds with dissociation, sedation, and amnestic effects. However, Iran denied the claims, arguing its programs were for defensive or medical purposes.

The PBAs are not city-destroying weapons; instead, they appear tailored for domestic use in the case of mass protests or uprisings.

Though there have been no reports indicating Iran has used PBAs against its own civilians, the research into the agents is ‘very concerning,’ Koblentz stated.

When it comes to biological weapons, however, the picture is murkier still.

Friedrichs drew a clear distinction between chemical and biological weapons.

‘Chemical weapons were literally something created in the lab as a result of a chemical process that can cause harm to the person exposed,’ he explained.

‘Biological weapons often were things that occurred in nature that can be produced in enough quantities that when humans or other species are exposed to them, they can cause whoever is being exposed to become sick – things like anthrax or smallpox.’

The US has not accused Iran of violating the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), but it has raised concerns about Iran’s ‘dual use’ facilities.

For example, botulinum toxin, one of the most lethal substances in the world, also the active ingredient in Botox, is produced in Iran for its domestic cosmetic industry.

‘There are legitimate reasons that [Iran has] facilities and researchers interested in these toxins, and yet… the United States also views that as possibly something that could be misused,’ Kolbentz said.

Still, the idea that Iran’s latent ability to produce such toxins could be ramped up in a wartime scenario, such as the current US-Iran war, remains a persistent concern among US officials.

But questions persist about whether Iran could effectively deploy biological, chemical or pharmaceutical weapons should the Islamic regime want to.

The experts warned that Iran already has ballistic missile capabilities that chemical or biological weapons could be attached to. Though they were unsure of how effective any potential Iranian weapon may be

Friedrichs agreed that the consequences of crossing that line would be severe.

In the near term, the experts expect Iran to remain committed to using its conventional arsenal of drones and missiles to keep on fighting.

But the Iranian government could consider using chemical weapons if the regime fears its total collapse. There’s no knowing how far Trump will go before ending his war on Iran.

Tragic Incident: Woman Fatally Shot by Ex While Seeking Help from Police in Domestic Dispute

A New Jersey resident has been sentenced to life imprisonment for fatally shooting his former girlfriend as she sought assistance from a police officer outside her residence.

In December 2025, a jury in Essex County found 53-year-old Andre Higgs guilty of the 2015 murder of 27-year-old Latrena May, who had been a dedicated educator at Pride Academy Charter School in East Orange. The two were previously involved in a romantic relationship.

The court handed Higgs a life sentence for the murder, equating to 75 years under New Jersey law. Additionally, he received a 20-year sentence for associated weapons offenses.

The tragic event unfolded on the night of May 1, 2015, after a dispute erupted between Higgs and May outside her home on Tremont Avenue in East Orange, a community near New York City.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the fatal consequences of domestic violence, fueled by uncontrolled anger and unfortunate timing.

“The shooting occurred after May ran from her home to escape an attack by Higgs and flagged down a police vehicle,” prosecutors explained in a press release. “As East Orange Detective Kemon Lee exited his vehicle and approached, Higgs fired multiple shots at May.”

The detective returned fire and hit the killer in the legs. Then, Higgs retreated back into May’s house where the victim’s 4-year-old daughter was still asleep. After barricading himself inside the residence, he was eventually arrested.

Higgs was originally sentenced to life in prison in 2017 following a trial and conviction for May’s murder. But that sentence was overturned by the New Jersey Supreme Court in 2023, which granted him a new trial.

In the ruling, the justices found that defense attorneys should have been granted access to Lee’s “internal affairs file, which included prior incidents of the officer firing his weapon while on duty” and should have been able to question the detective about those prior incidents.

But a second trial did not result in a materially different outcome.

Higgs was found guilty of murder in the first degree, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, first-degree unlawful possession of a handgun by a person who has previously been convicted of a crime under the No Early Release Act, and second-degree certain persons not to have weapons.

“This second conviction for murder for Andre Higgs was possible only because of the brave witnesses who once again came forward to testify about the defendant’s callous actions,” prosecutor Justin Edwab said. “As we said in 2017 and repeat today, Detective Kemon Lee was a hero that day for responding to Latrena May and attempting to save her from the grip of her abuser.”

Under a recently passed New Jersey law, Higgs must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for release – which equates to just shy of 64 years on the murder conviction alone.

“While no sentence can bring back Latrena May, we hope that knowing Higgs will spend the rest of his life in prison provides the May family with some measure of peace and serves as a solemn acknowledgment of their profound loss,” Edwab added in comments to NJ.com.

Breaking the Silence: The Overlooked Mental Health Struggles After Pregnancy Loss

0
Amy Hipwell can’t remember anyone sitting her down for a serious conversation about her mental health.

Over the span of five years, Hipwell and her husband Chris experienced an emotional whirlwind marked by profound loss and joyous new beginnings. They welcomed two healthy children into their lives, but also faced the heartache of losing three others due to stillbirth, miscarriage, and a rare genetic condition.

Amidst the waves of grief and anxiety, it wasn’t a medical professional who first recommended that Hipwell seek mental health support; it was, surprisingly, their cleaner who voiced concern, aside from her supportive husband.

Their journey of sorrow began when their first daughter, Emily, was stillborn at 28 weeks. Doctors suspected a clotting issue in the umbilical cord was to blame for the tragedy.

Tragically, the couple soon faced another loss through an early miscarriage.

During her third pregnancy with Julia (now 17), Hipwell recalls being wracked with anxiety.

“I was constantly worried about what was going to happen next,” Hipwell shared with 9news.com.au, reflecting on the persistent anxiety that shadowed her during those challenging times.

While her obstetrician took precautions with her physical health, prescribing blood thinners and ordering additional tests, that only went so far in calming her anxiety.

“The appointments and the screenings are very medical,” Hipwell said.

“There was nothing about my mental health and how I would look after myself in the pregnancy.”

Her anxiety only worsened after Julia was born.

“I was obviously so happy that I had a healthy baby, but then so worried that I was going to lose her,” Hipwell said.

“I didn’t let people hold her, I was really hyper vigilant… but it was never talked about or questioned, like, you know, ‘maybe you want to go and get some support for how anxious you’re feeling’.”

When Julia was 18 months, Amy fell pregnant again with another girl, Skye.

The family had moved from Victoria to Brisbane, were seeing a different obstetrician and had little support from family or friends.

At the 12-week scan, they learned Skye had Trisomy 18, a genetic condition. Further scans showed a hole in her heart and an umbilical hernia.

The couple was told Skye would have a less than 1 per cent chance of surviving more than a week after birth.

They decided to terminate the pregnancy and Hipwell was induced around 17 weeks.

“That was probably the most traumatic experience I’ve had in a hospital situation and losing another baby girl was devastating for us,” Hipwell said.

“We just got sent home and there was nothing… I don’t recall any support at all.”

The family moved back to Victoria and Hipwell fell pregnant with her son Nathan in 2010.

Despite her history of three pregnancy losses, Hipwell doesn’t recall any discussion about her mental health during that pregnancy or after Nathan was born.

“I was on my own at home with a baby and a toddler, and I guess, gradually, I was just not coping,” Hipwell said.

“I would just be crying all the time, I didn’t feel like I was bonding with Nathan.”

It was Hipwell’s cleaner who eventually spoke up, echoing her husband’s concerns.

“I was just sitting there crying and crying… she did a clean for an hour then sat there and said, you know, ‘it sounds like you really might need some help’.”

An internet search then led her to PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia).

“I remember calling them and crying, and just going, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong, I don’t want to even be at home anymore, I don’t want to look after this baby, I just can’t do it’.

“I just wanted to get on a plane and leave and never come back.”

Hipwell’s experience is not isolated.

More than one in five (22 per cent) of respondents to a recent survey by PANDA say healthcare providers did not ask about their mental health at all.

Less than half (43 per cent) said anxiety was included in screening.

“Healthcare providers should be regularly asking expecting and new mothers, dads and partners how they are feeling emotionally,” Julie Borninkhof, a clinical psychologist and PANDA CEO said.

She said some healthcare professionals will only have received a few hours of mental health training.

“GPs, child and family health nurses and midwives receive mental health training, but often it is not specific to the perinatal period, and training may only be a few hours in their whole course,” Borninkhof said.

“Picking up anxiety and depression among expecting and new parents can be difficult.

“Matrescence is a time of huge adjustment, changing hormones and sleep deprivation.

“Many people struggle to cope but don’t think what they are experiencing is anxiety or depression.

“Symptoms are so different for each person that we recommend reaching out if you are finding it hard to cope or you don’t feel like yourself, regardless of the reason why.”

Borninkhof said without support, a parent’s mental health will often worse before it gets better and that can impact the child’s well-being and development.

“For some parents, when their mental health isn’t supported, it can become life-threatening for themselves, and/or their baby and children.

“While this is rare, PANDA wants parents to be the best they can be, and this means getting help early.

“The perinatal period is also the first key stage in the development of an infant’s physical and mental health.

“Prioritising the well-being of parents, while simultaneously and intentionally responding proactively to the needs of the infant, can impact intergenerational well-being by setting parents up well to model good mental health and build strong foundations for their children.”

Belgium Bolsters Security: Military Deployed to Protect Jewish Sites Amid Iran-Linked Threats

0

In response to a recent synagogue attack that has escalated concerns throughout Europe, Belgium is enhancing security measures for its Jewish community. This comes amid claims by a newly surfaced terrorist faction, suspected of Iranian connections, asserting responsibility for multiple assaults on Jewish sites across the continent.

The group, known as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya, or “The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right,” has declared its involvement in several recent attacks. Among these is the March 9 explosion at a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, as reported by Fox News Digital. Additionally, the group has taken credit for setting fire to a synagogue in Rotterdam, Belgium, and detonating an explosive device at a Jewish school in Amsterdam.

Although details remain sparse, a fourth attack on a Jewish location in Greece has also been associated with the group by multiple sources.

On March 15, Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated that “a jihadi group linked to an Iranian proxy” orchestrated the attacks, further alleging that “the IRGC continues to sponsor and export terror worldwide,” referencing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin described the blast outside a synagogue in the eastern city of Liège as a “despicable antisemitic act” that directly targeted the country’s Jewish community.

Prime Minister Bart De Wever responded on X Monday morning, writing, “Antisemitism is an attack on our values and our society, and we must combat it unequivocally. We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community in Liège and throughout the country.”

Joe Truzman, senior research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and editor of its Long War Journal, told Fox News Digital that the war in Iran has likely “compelled the group, for whoever is behind this, to start launching these attacks.”

Truzman said he “suspect(s) this organization is being directed” and that there is “an entity behind it.”

In response to the attack in Liège, Belgian officials announced increased protection measures.

“To protect our Jewish community, we are deploying military personnel to support security on our streets. The safety of every citizen must be guaranteed,” Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken wrote on X Monday. “Antisemitism and hatred against Jews will never be tolerated. We will stand firm against it, always.”

The move drew praise from U.S. officials.

“Last week, I urged Belgian officials to adequately protect Jewish communities—thank you, Defense Minister Francken and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prévot, for stepping up with increased security measures,” Ambassador Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun, special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism at the State Department, wrote, adding that he looks forward to working with Belgian counterparts “to safeguard the Jewish community.”

Undersecretary of State Sarah B. Rogers also welcomed the decision, calling it a rare example of action rather than rhetoric.

“We hear a lot of talk about combating antisemitism and other forms of hatred — but it’s satisfying to see practical action, like this, to guard the public square against brute terrorist violence targeting Jews and others,” Rogers wrote on X. “Liberty in the tweets, order in the streets.”

Belgium long has maintained heightened security around Jewish institutions following past attacks, including the 2014 shooting at the Jewish Museum in Brussels that killed four people — one of the deadliest antisemitic attacks in the country’s modern history.

Still, Jewish organizations warn the current moment reflects a renewed and dangerous escalation.

“This criminal act against a Jewish house of worship is deeply alarming and part of a broader and troubling rise in antisemitic incidents and violent extremism across Europe,” the World Jewish Congress said in a March 10 statement.
