Trump’s Unexpected Iran Strike Halt: A Strategic Move for Diplomacy or Tactical Pressure?

0

In a surprising turn of events, the United States has decided to open dialogue with Iran, despite the current tensions. Both the U.S. and Israel have been applying pressure on the Iranian regime, which appears to be in a vulnerable state. The status of Iran’s new “Supreme Leader” remains uncertain. However, as the saying goes, “jaw, jaw” is preferable to “war, war,” and it seems President Trump is opting for diplomacy at this juncture.

There are compelling reasons both supporting and opposing the previously planned military strike targeting Iran’s electricity generation and infrastructure. A significant argument against such action is that any potential new Iranian government, seen as an ideal outcome, would require these facilities to swiftly rebuild the country.

Meanwhile, Iran has dismissed claims of any ongoing conversations:

Recent developments indicate that the Iranian regime is rapidly unraveling. It’s possible that the “officials” President Trump is engaging with may differ from those who publicly refute the existence of any negotiations.

There are arguments to be made for and against what was planned, that being a strike in Iran’s electricity generation and infrastructure, not least of which being that any new Iranian government – that’s the ideal outcome, a new Iranian government – will need that infrastructure to get a new Iran up and running as quickly as possible.

The abrupt shift follows a weekend ultimatum in which Trump warned the U.S. would begin targeting Iran’s power infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened, a threat that rattled global oil markets and heightened fears of imminent conflict.

By Monday morning, however, Trump announced a five-day delay, pointing to what he described as “very good and productive conversations” tied to a broader framework that includes nuclear disarmament.

Iran, however, denies any such conversation:

Iranian officials quickly rejected the claim that negotiations were underway, dismissing Trump’s comments as “psychological warfare” and accusing Washington of using the appearance of diplomacy to buy time.

Here’s the thing: We’ve seen in recent days how the regime is coming apart at the seams. The “officials” President Trump is talking to may not be the same “officials” who are denying that talks are even taking place.

Virginia High School Scandal: Parent Outrage Over Alleged Student Assault by Illegal Immigrant

0

In Fairfax County, Virginia, a wave of anger and concern has swept through the community after a 19-year-old undocumented immigrant was accused of inappropriately touching female students at a local high school. The incident has left parents questioning the safety of their children while at school.

“As a parent, it’s terrifying,” expressed Stacy Langton, a concerned mother. “When I send my daughters off to school, I trust they are in a safe environment. This situation proves otherwise, and I can’t imagine any parent who wouldn’t be deeply upset at the thought of their daughters being potentially assaulted between classes.”

The accused, Israel Flores Ortiz, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador who entered the United States in 2024, has been arrested. He faces nine counts of assault and battery, with allegations of groping students in the hallways during class transitions.

Israel Flores Ortiz mugshot

In an image released by the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, Israel Flores Ortiz is shown in a mugshot taken in March 2026, following his arrest for the alleged offenses at the high school.

Langton, who has two daughters attending the school, shared her immediate concern. “I asked my senior if she knew about the incidents, and she replied, ‘Yes, Mom, everyone is talking about it.’ This isn’t something any parent wants to hear about their child’s school environment.”

“That was very alarming, and then I called my ninth grader into the room and I said, ‘Were you guys touched by the perpetrator?’ And they said, ‘No,’ thank God. But they did know all about it, and they have friends who are amongst the 12 victims,” she continued.

Langton, a well-known activist in the area who protested pornographic books in county schools in 2021 in what became a cultural flash point that helped boost former Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin to electoral victory, said that parents, including those she knows to be liberal, are “very, very angry” about the situation.

“The reaction from other parents is, you know, anger,” she said. “My phone blew up last Saturday. As soon as the story broke, I started getting inundated with text messages going, ‘Oh my goodness, did you know about this? Isn’t this where your daughters go to school?’”

She also blames a Virginia policy that allows “English Learners” to remain in public schools up to age 22.

The biggest problem with this situation — it isn’t political, OK?” Langton said. “This is a public safety issue. This is a problem for every single parent in the school whether you’re a Democrat, whether you are an Independent or whether you are a Republican. This is a public safety issue and every single parent’s daughters are at risk because of this policy.

A Supreme Court case called Plyler v. Doe, decided in 1982, paved the way for illegal aliens to attend public schools, establishing that prohibiting the practice violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The amendment says that no state shall “deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

Despite the allegations against Flores Ortiz, Langton praised the school for its handling of alleged crimes. She noted that once the victims reported what had happened, the school resource officer began an immediate investigation, eventually leading to the charges.

Fairfax County Public Schools did not return a Monday request for comment, but did address the situation last week.

“While Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is unable to comment on specifics due to federal and state privacy laws, we prioritize student and staff safety and we fully investigate any time someone shares that an incident has occurred at school, or that they do not feel safe at school,” the district said in a statement. “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners who continue to work swiftly and thoroughly when there are safety concerns in our schools. The safety of all FCPS students and staff remains a top priority.”

Recent Medical Breakthroughs Gradually Enhance Mesothelioma Survival Rates

0

Mesothelioma, a grave cancer impacting thousands worldwide, is seeing a glimmer of hope thanks to recent advancements in detection and treatment. The improved survival rate can be attributed to medical professionals’ deepening understanding of the disease, allowing them to administer targeted therapies that decelerate its progression. Here are the leading ways in which clinical research and enhanced patient care are extending the lives of those affected.

1. Earlier and More Precise Diagnosis

Symptoms of mesothelioma often manifest decades after exposure to hazardous materials like asbestos, leading to diagnoses occurring years later. This delay traditionally resulted in suboptimal treatment and low survival rates. Today, however, healthcare providers have access to superior imaging technologies and precise biopsy techniques. These advancements enable earlier detection and accurate identification of the disease type. For example, blood-based biomarkers and enhanced scanning technologies can flag potential issues sooner, allowing for earlier intervention before the cancer advances.

Despite these technological advancements, diagnosing mesothelioma remains challenging. Its symptoms can be ambiguous and resemble other pulmonary conditions. Thankfully, contemporary healthcare professionals are more vigilant about these risks. Obtaining definitive test results empowers patients with choices in managing their condition, paving the way for a more tailored care strategy that can extend their life expectancy.

2. Improved Multimodal Treatment Strategies

Gone are the days of a one-size-fits-all approach to mesothelioma treatment. Previously, treatment might have relied solely on chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation. Today, a multifaceted approach is employed, combining advanced surgical techniques with precise patient selection and radiation therapy to minimize harm to healthy tissue.

Some patients also benefit from immunotherapy, either as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with traditional methods. This treatment harnesses immune checkpoint inhibitors to bolster the body’s defense against cancer cells. While not universally effective, these drugs have extended survival for some patients by 18.1 months. Additionally, the combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy has been associated with a mesothelioma survival rate of up to 56%, though further research is necessary to fully understand the impact on patients’ quality of life.

3. Personalized and Supportive Care Improvements

The growth in supportive and personalized care is among the noticeable medical advances in the condition’s management. Healthcare providers now look at age, cancer stage, and medical history before deciding which treatment to give. Pain control, breathing support, and nutrition are also treated as important parts of care. These enable doctors to avoid aggressive care that may do more harm than good. Personalized pain management also allows patients to stay stronger during treatment.

Mental health support is common as well. Counselling and palliative care teams assist patients in coping with uncertainty. These newer services do not mean patients are giving up. They mean people are more willing to explore more options to live better while receiving treatment. Customized and supportive care does not cure the disease. However, they can improve patients’ tolerance to treatment and increase the survival rate.

Endnote

The survival chance of mesothelioma is still poor due to its fast spread and limited management options. However, recent statistics show that the number is rising. Earlier discovery, combined treatment, and other better supportive care are slowly enhancing the endurance of some people. This progress creates a meaningful future that many families can depend on.

Lawsuit Claims Man Dies After Being Jailed Instead of Hospitalized for Critically High Blood Pressure

A lawsuit brought by the family of a man who died after being taken to jail instead of receiving necessary medical treatment has cleared a hurdle in federal court. The legal action claims law enforcement in California failed to heed medical advice, resulting in the tragic death of 29-year-old Abdul Kamara, whose blood pressure had reached perilously high levels.

According to the lawsuit, Kamara died on March 3, 2024, in the sallyport of the Vista Detention Facility. His family contends that officers ignored a doctor’s directive to return him to Scripps Memorial Hospital after he had fled from an emergency room. Details of the case were outlined in the family’s legal complaint.

“Abdul should have never been at the Vista Detention Facility,” the complaint argues, emphasizing that just hours earlier, Carlsbad police and paramedics had transported him to Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas due to concerns about his health and mental state.

The situation escalated when Kamara “eloped” from the emergency room. Concerned hospital staff contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for help in locating him, citing worries over his “safety and condition,” as stated in the complaint. At the time of his escape, Kamara’s blood pressure had reportedly soared to 181/116.

Hospital personnel allegedly instructed the police to bring Kamara back for a medical hold and further evaluation. The complaint claims medical staff described Kamara as paranoid, delusional, and incapable of ensuring his own safety, urging law enforcement to prioritize his return to the hospital.

Authorities had no information that Kamara had “committed any crime, had no information that Abdul had any outstanding warrants, and had no information that Abdul had harmed any person,” according to his family’s legal team.

Less than one hour after he fled from the ER, police allegedly encountered Abdul at a Valero gas station in Cardiff acting erratically, which was about 1 mile away from Scripps Hospital. Kamara was “crawling on the ground of the parking lot without shirt and shoes while wearing a hospital wristband” and making “nonsensical statements,” according to the complaint.

Deputies allegedly knew Kamara was a hospital patient who had run out of the ER and was not able to care for himself or make sound decisions, the complaint alleges.

“They knew the ER physician and nurses wanted Abdul returned to the hospital for a medical hold because he needed to be evaluated,” the document says. “But instead of returning Abdul to the hospital for medical assessment and treatment, as they had been instructed to do by a doctor, deputies decided to arrest Abdul for being ‘under the influence,’ a misdemeanor, and book him into the Vista Detention Facility.”

Instead of receiving the medical care he “desperately needed,” Kamara died hours later at the jail, according to his family. The medical examiner’s office determined his cause of death to be complications of resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to acute methamphetamine intoxication with sickle cell anemia as a contributing factor.

Physical exertion and agitation were cited as possibly causing a sickle cell crisis that restricted blood flow, according to the ME’s office.

“Abdul had not resisted any officer commands; had not threatened any officer; did not flee; and had not acted in a threatening manner,” the complaint concludes. “Abdul only acted in a bizarre, paranoid manner that evidenced distress and illness.”

While police did not have probable cause to believe Kamara had committed any crime, they decided to take him into custody anyway and subjected him to physical force while at the local jail facility, his family alleges, adding he “urgently needed medical care,” per the complaint.

“For approximately seven minutes, six officers placed their bodyweight and downward force on Abdul who weighed only 136 lbs,” the complaint says. “Abdul had been compliant and cooperative with officers’ commands before the use of force. He was handcuffed and sitting on a bench. The officers’ use of force was precipitated by a fall — Abdul fell over while trying to stand up. This led six officers to use compressional force to restrain Abdul who was eventually placed in a WRAP restraint device and left on the ground.”

None of the deputies asked for Kamara to be medically assessed or evaluated, despite nurses and doctors being present at the jail facility, according to his family. “No one rendered aid to Abdul,” their complaint alleges. “His head had been injured so badly that Abdul suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Although Abdul should have been seated upright or placed in a standing position, officers left him laying on the ground.”

While being taken into custody, Kamara allegedly began to “scream, kick, and flail,” which police officials cited as the reason for physically restraining him “to prevent Kamara from injuring himself and others,” according to an incident report filed by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.

Kamara’s family says he was “paranoid and agitated” while riding in the back of a patrol car. “He bounced around in the back seat … and hit his head on the plexiglass separating the back seat from the front seat,” the complaint notes. “Abdul suffered a cut on his head that began to bleed.”

The DA’s office insisted that there were “no obvious signs of medical distress” in Kamara while declining to pursue any criminal charges against the officers involved.

“Based upon our review of the totality of the facts and circumstances, the law enforcement personnel involved in Kamara’s restraint did not apply unreasonable or excessive force that resulted in his death,” the DA’s office concluded.

Last Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Anthony Battaglia ruled that the lawsuit filed by Kamara’s family could proceed as he denied a motion to dismiss filed by San Diego County and its lawyers. Battaglia ruled that the family’s arguments are “meritorious” and their lawyers have shown enough evidence to allege that failures by San Diego County sheriff’s deputies led to Kamara’s death.

The sheriff’s office told Law&Crime on Monday that it “cannot comment at this time” on Battaglia’s ruling or the case as the matter “involves pending litigation.”

“To be totally honest, being at work was my favourite and it was so important because I felt like so much of myself was taken away with being unwell,” Schilling told nine.com.au in January 2025.

“Being able to step into my work role was just so incredibly rewarding for me. It just reminded me that I’m still me. I can still be of value to people, be of service. It was really, really important to me. I’m so glad that I was able to do it.”

Two years after the initial diagnosis, she received devastating news that cancer had spread to her brain, leaving her oncology team with “nothing further they can do”.

“Over the past two years, while filming MAFS, I underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later told I was eligible for a ground-breaking clinical trial specific to my gene type, due to start in March 2026.

“Once again, my optimism soared that I might beat this thing.

“Over Christmas, however, I began experiencing blinding headaches and numbness down my right side.

“After many tests I was told the cancer had spread to the left side of my brain and, despite subsequent radiotherapy sessions, my oncology team have now told me there is nothing further they can do.”

Alongside her sad news, Mel offered advice to her friends and followers.

Unbelievable Turn: Quadruple Amputee Cornhole Champ Faces Shocking Murder Charges

Over the weekend, a shocking incident unfolded in a Maryland town, resulting in the arrest of a professional cornhole player. Authorities have detained Dayton James Webber, a 27-year-old resident of La Plata, in connection with a fatal shooting during a heated argument, as reported by officials.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) confirmed that Webber, who is also a quadruple amputee, has been charged with the shooting that took place on Sunday night. This tragic event has sent ripples through the community, shedding light on Webber’s unexpected involvement.

The unfortunate series of events came to the attention of law enforcement when two individuals flagged down officers from the La Plata Police Department. These witnesses recounted being in the backseat of a vehicle when an argument escalated, leading to Webber, the driver, allegedly shooting the front seat passenger.

After the incident, Webber reportedly stopped the car near Radio Station Road and Llano Drive, asking the two witnesses to assist in removing the victim from the vehicle. When they refused, they exited the car and distanced themselves from the scene.

In the aftermath, Webber fled with the victim still inside the car, prompting patrol officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office to launch a search operation across potential locations where Webber might have sought refuge. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the details of this tragic occurrence.

About two hours later, a resident in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall called 911 to report a body in a yard, the sheriff’s office said.

When officers responded, they found the shooting victim, Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf, dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Detectives from the CCSO received an arrest warrant for Webber.

Investigators found Webber’s car in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the pro cornhole player at a local hospital where he was seeking treatment for an unspecified medical issue, officials said.

Southern Maryland News Net, which reported that the car was a white Tesla, shared a 2024 video purportedly showing Webber shooting and reloading a pistol.

Officers with the Albemarle County Police Department arrested Webber once he was released from the hospital, charging him as a fugitive from justice.

Webber is awaiting extradition to Charles County, where he will be charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and other related charges, Nexstar’s WDVM reports.

Outlets including sports network ESPN have covered Webber’s career, which he built after losing much of his arms and legs to a dangerous blood infection when he was 10 months old.

Webber told TODAY that since he was a child he has learned to pick things up off the floor, hunt, fish, write, drive, race go-karts and even operate heavy machinery.

Tucker Carlson’s Interview Ignites Tensions: Journalist Interrogated in Israel

0

Tucker Carlson, the influential conservative podcaster, reported that he and his team were detained by authorities in Israel on Wednesday, following an interview with Donald Trump’s former ambassador to the nation.

The ex-Fox News anchor traveled to Tel Aviv to engage in a conversation with Mike Huckabee. This meeting followed a challenge from Huckabee, who invited Carlson for a direct discussion after the two clashed online over Israel’s treatment of Christians.

Carlson, known for his frequent criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, accepted Huckabee’s invitation. However, the visit did not go as smoothly as planned.

Despite facing criticism from opponents and pro-Israel supporters who accused him of not stepping outside the airport during his short stay, Carlson shared details of his experience, describing a less-than-welcoming reception in Israel.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Carlson revealed that after his interview, Israeli officials seized his passport and took one of his colleagues into an interrogation room for questioning.

‘Men who identified themselves as airport security took our passports, hauled our executive producer into a side room and then demanded to know what we spoke to Ambassador Huckabee about,’ Carlson told the Daily Mail.

‘It was bizarre. We’re now out of the country.’

Prior to the interview, Carlson posted a photo on X of himself and his business partner, Neil Patel, in front of Ben Gurion airport on Wednesday with the caption: ‘Greetings from Israel.’

‘Too bad Tucker stayed in the airport in the face of so many invitations to see so many wonderful places. A huge and obviously intentional missed opportunity,’ taunted David Friedman, the former US ambassador to Israel during Trump’s first term.

Two sources familiar with the matter, however, told the Daily Mail that the Israeli government initially did not want to allow Carlson into the country, prompting a delicate negotiation involving the State Department.

In the end, the Israeli government decided not to bar Carlson from entering the country in order to avoid a ‘diplomatic incident,’ according to a Channel 13 report.

A spokesman for the US embassy in Israel denied that Carlson was detained and claimed he ‘received the same passport control questions that countless visitors to Israel, including Ambassador Huckabee and other diplomats, receive as part of normal entrance and exit from Israel.’

‘It is not accurate that Israel only was going to let Tucker into the country for the interview,’ the representative added.

‘The only engagement the Embassy had with Israel about his visit was to coordinate his private plane landing as part of facilitating a seamless visit. It was Tucker who chose to only come into the country for a few hours and depart. And Tucker received the same positive treatment of any visitors to Israel.’

The Daily Mail has contacted the White House and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office for comment.

Carlson accused Huckabee last week on his YouTube show of not ensuring proper protections for Christians in Israel.

Huckabee, who has known Carlson for more than three decades and previously worked with him at Fox News, responded by inviting him to Israel for a discussion.

‘Instead of talking about me, why don’t you come talk to me?’ Huckabee wrote on X. Carlson replied by welcoming the invitation, before noting that they were working on setting up the interview.

Israel’s popularity remains at an all-time low in the GOP among young Republican voters and Trump supporters.

The Carlson-Huckabee event was reportedly an attempt by the Trump administration to prevent debates surrounding Israel from breaking the GOP’s conservative coalition ahead of the midterms.

Tragic Discovery: Roommates’ Concerns Over Lingering Odor Lead to Finding Woman’s Body in Closet

0

A tragic discovery unfolded in a North Carolina apartment when police found a woman’s body in a bedroom closet after her roommates had been puzzled by a mysterious odor for several days. The unsettling incident took place on March 10 when authorities conducted a welfare check, prompted by concerns from those living in the apartment.

Upon arrival, officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department made a grim discovery. Inside the closet lay Evelin Carolina Enamorado-Cisnado, a 26-year-old woman who had been reported missing. Her body was concealed beneath layers of towels and blankets, as reported by WSOC-TV.

The investigation led police to question the apartment’s residents, which included a couple with five children and Evelin’s partner, Lhis Brito Costa. According to an affidavit obtained by Oxygen, one of the residents had noticed an unpleasant odor in the apartment for days, though its source was initially a mystery. The couple explained that Evelin and Lhis had been staying with them for about a month to assist with childcare.

As details emerged, Lhis initially claimed that Evelin’s uncle had been responsible for her death. However, under further questioning, she confessed to the crime. The 23-year-old admitted to shooting Evelin in the head, covering her body, and hiding it in the closet. The affidavit revealed that Lhis acted out of anger, suspecting that Evelin had been unfaithful to her.

The 23-year-old said in the affidavit that she shot Evelin in the head, covered up her body and placed her in the closet. “She was angry,” police wrote in the affidavit, “that Evelin was cheating on her.”

On March 11, Lhis was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. She is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail without bond. It is unclear from court documents reviewed by Oxygen as to whether she has entered a plea.

An attorney declined to comment when asked by Oxygen. Her next scheduled court date is April 2.

Alert: Squirrels Mistake Fruity Vape Scents for Food – Experts Sound the Alarm

0

Experts are raising alarms about a curious new trend: squirrels appear to be ‘vaping,’ lured by the fruity aromas of e-cigarettes, which they mistake for food.

In recent months, social media platforms have been abuzz with images and videos capturing these rodents interacting with vaping devices. The phenomenon is gaining attention as more such content surfaces online.

On TikTok, a video uploaded by user @tts_tiktok22 shows a squirrel in South Philadelphia nibbling on what seems to be an ElfBar vape, sparking both concern and amusement among viewers.

Similarly, a Facebook user shared a striking photo of a squirrel in Wandle Valley, seen scaling a fence with a vape clutched in its mouth, illustrating the unusual behavior of these creatures.

Adding to the growing collection of evidence, The Telegraph released footage this week depicting a grey squirrel in south London handling an e-cigarette, highlighting the widespread nature of this unexpected trend.

Experts are unsure whether the squirrels are simply biting on the plastic, or consuming the smoke or the vape liquid.

However, they suspect the animals are being drawn to the devices after mistaking the fruity smells for food.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Kay Haw, director of the UK Squirrel Accord, said: ‘I imagine the squirrel is interested in the vape liquid inside, which is exuding an odour and attracting it. The squirrel can smell the liquid and likely thinks it is a food source, so is trying to find a way into the vape.’

To understand why squirrels are drawn to e-cigarettes, Evie Button, a scientific officer at the RSPCA, dissected a disposable vape.

One thing stood out – the smell.

‘The other noticeable thing about the vapes I’ve picked up is the strong smell, even long after they’ve been used,’ she explained in a blog for Wildlife and Countryside Link.

‘The one I took apart still smells strongly of blueberry, over three months since I picked it up.

‘We’re worried that animals could be attracted to the smells and, mistaking them for food, try to bite or swallow them.’

As well as squirrels, photos and videos have shown birds interacting with vapes.

‘So far, we’ve heard about a bird in New Zealand who was poisoned and died after swallowing a vape, and we’ve seen pictures of a squirrel in Wales trying to bury a vape, Ms Button explained.

‘But we know that this will only be the tip of the iceberg as so many litter casualties go unseen and unreported, particularly with wildlife.’

Worryingly, the expert says it’s not just wildlife who are being drawn to vapes – it’s pets too.

‘We know that dogs in particular have heightened sensitivity to sweet tastes and smells, and they could easily sniff them out on a dog walk,’ Ms Button added.

‘The Veterinary Poisons Information Service has received 680 calls about pets and vape liquids since 2017, and 96 per cent of these were about dogs.

‘They warn that animals which ingest high doses of the nicotine–based liquid could become seriously ill – and sadly, there have been reports of pets dying after consuming liquids from vapes.’

Responding to the Telegraph’s video, an RSPCA spokesman said the footage should serve as a ‘stark reminder’.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, they said: ‘The sight of this squirrel holding a disposable vape is a stark reminder of the danger discarded litter poses to our wildlife.

‘Sadly this is the tip of the iceberg – as five million single-use e-cigarettes were thrown away every week according to research prior to a Government ban on their sale.

‘Many of them end up as litter in our environment, our rivers and the ocean where they can cause harm to animals and marine life.

‘These vapes contain materials and poisonous substances which can be hazardous to animals including plastic, lithium and nicotine.’

Although disposable vapes have been banned since June 2025, there are still millions of the devices littered in parks across the UK.

The spokesman added: ‘The RSPCA successfully lobbied the Government with our #VexedAboutVapes campaign and a ban on selling disposable vapes was brought in last year in England.

‘But sadly we are still seeing litter – including vapes – simply being tossed away in our communities, putting animals needlessly at risk.

‘How we dispose of our rubbish greatly impacts wildlife and we would urge people to hold on to their litter until there’s an opportunity to dispose of it safely and responsibly – and to always recycle where appropriate – so we can reduce the number of animal casualties we see impacted by rubbish.’

HOW INVASIVE GREY SQUIRRELS CAN KILL OFF RED SQUIRRELS

Red squirrels are native to the UK and spend most of their time in the trees.

Grey squirrels, however, were introduced to the UK in the late 19th-century from North America.

Initially introduced as an ornamental species, they soon spread throughout the UK and other European nations, such as Italy.

Grey squirrels carry a disease called squirrel parapox virus, which does not appear to affect their health but often kills red squirrels.

Grey squirrels are more likely to eat green acorns, so will decimate the food source before reds get to them.

Reds can’t digest mature acorns, so can only eat green acorns.

When red squirrels are put under pressure they will not breed as often which has amplified the initial problem of the grey squirrel.

Another huge factor in their decline is the loss of woodland over the last century, but road traffic and predators are all threats too.

Currently, it is estimated there could be as few as 15,000 red squirrels left in the UK.

Small Western Town Becomes Hotspot as Unexpected New Yorker Endorsement Sparks Influx

A quiet mountain town in Southwest Montana is experiencing a dramatic transformation as an influx of New Yorkers arrives, driven by the popularity of the television series, “The Madison.” This trend has led to a staggering 50 percent increase in home prices.

Ennis, a small town with just 615 residents, has found itself in the spotlight thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series. The show features Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer as the Clyburn family, who transition from New York life to the serene Madison River Valley.

Sitting adjacent to the setting of “The Madison,” Ennis has witnessed its median home listing price soar to $742,000, marking a 49.9 percent increase since February 2020, as reported by Realtor.com.

Chase Heiland, a real estate broker in Montana, shared with the outlet that there has been a notable rise in interest from New Yorkers looking at Ennis, describing the situation as art mirroring reality.

Moreover, the area’s expansive landscapes and natural recreational activities, including skiing and fly-fishing, have become significant attractions for those from New York, the broker noted.

‘In the colder months, many New Yorkers enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and hunting,’ added Heiland.

The broker noted that his big city clients are looking at a variety of properties for either primary residences or vacation homes.

However, Montanans have been dreading the idea of living with wannabe ranchers since the inception of the popular show Yellowstone, another product of Sheridan’s.

Yellowstone prompted its own class of newcomers to Montana for years after it premiered in 2018, starring Kevin Costner for five seasons as he and his family defended his beloved Dutton Ranch.

Locals have taken to forums like Reddit to discuss how the influx of outsiders has made it difficult to afford homes.

One user wrote: ‘Yeah, that first winter shock is always funny to see in people, haha. The cost of living has gone up because of these out-of-state buyers willing to pay cash at above market value; however, that’s more of what I was referring to than a social change or anything like that. Everyone watched “Yellowstone” and wants to be a cowboy.’

Another added: ‘As a Montanan and a homeowner, I believe this. In just four short years, our taxes tripled.

‘We didn’t make any improvements to our home. It’s the same as it was 12 years ago (besides a little paint), but due to homes being snatched up by investors and out of staters who want a vacation home, our house tripled in value. It’s f******* insane!

‘Had we not purchased 12 years ago, there’s no way we would be able to afford to buy now.’

A third said: ‘Thank Yellowstone, the out-of-state buyers that didn’t mind paying double what a house was worth, and our Republican government for that. Life in the Bitterroot has been destroyed if you don’t have millions.’

Purchasing ranches has become a new status symbol for the upper class, flaunting their deep pockets.

In Wyoming, land values near Yellowstone and Jackson Hole have risen 28 percent over the past five years, according to a report from Live Water Properties, which tracks ranch sales in the state.

Jackson Hole–based real estate broker Latham Jenkins said ranch sales were directly due to Yellowstone’s popularity.

‘That show put the idea of the West in front of a huge audience,’ he told the Daily Mail.

‘People see the wide-open land, the family legacy, and the independence it represents.

‘A lot of buyers who might never have considered it before now think, ‘Why not us?’ It’s less about cows and more about the lifestyle and legacy.’
