Michigan Woman Vanishes in Bahamas: Husband Arrested, Unfolding Timeline Revealed

0

HOPE TOWN, Bahamas — Authorities in the Bahamas are actively searching for Lynette Hooker, an American who reportedly went missing five days ago. Her husband claims she was swept away by a strong current after falling from a dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Caribbean.

Lynette’s husband, Brian Hooker, has been taken into custody in connection with her disappearance, as confirmed by his legal representative.

This incident follows over three years since the couple purchased their boat in Texas. They spent time repairing it together and then embarked on a journey along the southern coast, eventually reaching the Bahamas.

Here’s an overview of the Hookers’ adventure, from acquiring their boat to the troubling events leading to Lynette’s disappearance and Brian’s subsequent arrest.

Lynette, 55, and Brian, 58, documented their experience buying and cleaning up their boat in Rockport, Texas, in a video posted on YouTube Jan. 10, 2023, on their account called “The Sailing Hookers.”

She said the couple had spent years looking for a sailboat to buy before finding a Morgan 461 sailboat in Texas, a 1980 charter boat from the Virgin Islands.

She said it was “a little rough on the edges.”

“But we knew we were up for the task,” she added in the video, which showed photos and footage of the couple repairing the boat.

Local authorities say the couple left Hope Town’s Abaco Inn on a dinghy headed toward their anchored yacht. According to Brian, Lynette fell overboard from the small boat and into the water. He said Lynette had the ignition key to the dinghy when she fell, causing it to shut off, and that despite attempts to save her, she was swept away.

Brian then paddled to the shore in Marsh Harbour.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) announced an investigation into Lynette’s fall was underway.

That U.S. Coast Guard briefly participated in the search Sunday.

“The Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF) is the lead agency for this search,” the agency told Fox News Digital. “On Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard provided support for approximately one hour using an HC-144 aircraft, but the search yielded no results. Since then, the RBDF has not requested additional assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard.”

Lynette Hooker’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, called for a thorough investigation in a statement to Fox News Digital. Aylesworth is not Brian’s biological daughter.

“There have been prior issues brought to my attention, which may be important for any thorough investigation. If this truly was an accident, I can understand and live with it,” Aylesworth said. “However, there needs to be an intensive review of the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident before that can be determined.”

She said she has been “privy to very little information,” adding her “sole concern is to find out what happened to my mother and make sure a full and complete investigation is performed into her disappearance.”

Richard Cook, a team leader with Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue, told People officials “don’t suspect foul play at the moment.”

“It was just a lot of bad decisions,” he added. “Night time, very windy, no moon out yet. So, it was pitch dark and very rough conditions for the small boat they were in.”

He also told the magazine search efforts have transitioned to a recovery effort.

RBDF released a second statement informing the public that “search operations and investigative efforts remain active.”

The law enforcement entity said that it, along with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, local fire and rescue teams and the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association are investigating.

The U.S. State Department also confirmed to Fox News Digital that it is working with the Bahamian government.

Aylesworth joined Griff Jenkins on “Fox & Friends” and said she has seen Brian become physically violent toward one of his own children.

“I’ve seen him choke out one of his daughters before. And we had to go to court for that,” Aylesworth said. “So, he’s just repeating patterns.”

She described her mother as a “very fit person” who wouldn’t lose her balance on a boat.

“I’m confused why she has the keys because she never drove the dinghy. It was always Brian. So, the story just doesn’t add up right now,” Aylesworth said.

Aylesworth also said Brian Hooker left a voicemail message telling her authorities found Lynette’s flotation device.

“Hello, honey, it’s Dad. I just got a call from Hope Town Search and Rescue, and they found the flotation device that I threw to mom when she fell overboard,” Brian Hooker said in the voicemail, according to CBS News.

10:04 a.m.: Brian spoke out for the first time since the incident.

“I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas. Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart. We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus,” Brian Hooker said in a Facebook post.

“Our family is deeply grateful for the Bahamian people’s assistance, especially that of the Hopetown Volunteer Fire & Rescue team, Royal Bahamas police force, Royal Bahamas Defense Force, and the U.S. Coast Guard, who have worked tirelessly in an ongoing effort to bring Lynette back to us. Thank you to everyone for keeping Lynette in your thoughts and for your support of our family during this difficult time.”

Attorney Terrel Butler confirmed to Fox News Digital that Brian Hooker was taken into custody Wednesday in the disappearance of his wife. He has not been charged with any crime.

Butler said Brian has been cooperating with relevant authorities and “categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing” in Lynette’s disappearance, specifically allegations of his potential involvement made by her daughter, Aylesworth.

Lynette’s mother said she wants to hear what her son-in-law has to say after his arrest in her daughter’s disappearance in the Bahamas, according to The Associated Press.

“I’m going to be interested in what he says, because I haven’t heard from him in almost two days,” Darlene Hamlett told the AP.

Hamlett, who was driving home from the Bahamian Consulate in Miami after securing a passport to travel to the islands, also told the AP that her daughter was experienced on the water, having grown up around lakes, boats, sailing and swimming.

“Our family grew up on water, and, so, Lynette her whole life has been near lakes, on boats, sailing and swimming,” Hamlett said. “It would be a miracle if (she’s rescued), but I’m still counting on one.”

Aylesworth that her stepfather’s arrest appears to be bringing the case “the attention it deserves” as investigators work to determine what happened in the Bahamas.

She was interviewed for about two hours Wednesday by the U.S. Coast Guard’s Detroit sector, her attorney, Ron Marienfeld, confirmed to CNN.

In a statement after Brian’s arrest, Marienfeld told Fox News Digital the family’s goal had been to get answers after they had “not hearing anything in the beginning.”

“After learning of the arrest last night, it appears this matter is getting the attention it deserves,” Marienfeld said.

He said Aylesworth’s efforts, along with those of Lynette’s mother, helped intensify scrutiny on the case by drawing media attention. Marienfeld added that the family felt better once it learned the U.S. Coast Guard was involved in the investigation.

“The events as initially reported just did not seem to add up,” he said.

Marienfeld called the case “nothing short of a tragedy” and said the family is now waiting to see where the evidence leads. He also thanked the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Coast Guard, the media and others who have worked on the case.

Aylesworth said she was “in shock” by both the news and his tone.

“I was in shock,” she said. “I was like, my mom’s missing? Like, what?”

Since the incident, Fox News Digital has spoken with two people who said the Hookers retired and began traveling in their boat full time.

John Waters, a freind of the couple, told Fox News Digital he met Lynette at an oyster bar in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2023. He said the couple was on a journey around the Gulf of America.

“Their new lifestyle was this boat that they picked up in Texas. They spent a year working on it,” Waters said.

One of Lynette’s former neighbors in Kentwood, Michigan, told Fox News Digital the same and described Lynette as “just so freaking nice.”

“She was just a sweetheart. She was always the nicest lady,” the former neighbor told Fox News Digital. “She was — I don’t want to say she was like a hippie — but she kind of gave off this free spirit vibe, this ‘let’s go with the flow’ vibe.”

He described Lynette as outgoing and said she would wave whenever she saw him. He also socialized with Lynette and Brian, recalling memories of drinking alcohol with them by the pool when the weather was nice. He told Fox News Digital she gave him motherly advice, adding that she spoke simply but that her words had a big impact, like when she gave him advice about choosing the right partner before he got engaged.

Stepfather Fatally Shot by Neighbor While Allegedly Defending Stepdaughters During Domestic Dispute, Police Report

Inset: Christiannel Lyle Macapagal Maningat (GoFundMe). Background: The Washington state neighborhood where stepfather Arnino Velasco Guanlao was allegedly gunned down by a neighbor after killing his stepdaughter Christiannel Lyle Macapagal Maningat on the man’s property and shooting her sister (KING/YouTube).

In a tragic incident in Washington state, a stepfather was shot dead by his neighbor while attempting to harm his stepdaughters during a domestic altercation that escalated onto the neighbor’s premises, authorities report. One of the stepdaughters lost her life in the violence.

On the morning of April 2, 47-year-old Arnino Guanlao from Puyallup turned a handgun on his adult stepdaughters as a family dispute unfolded in front of the neighbor’s driveway and garage, police revealed. In defense, the neighbor shot Guanlao, resulting in his death. Sadly, Guanlao’s stepdaughter, Christiannel Lyle Macapagal Maningat, was also killed in the chaos.

“He was going to shoot the kids,” said nearby resident Michelle Weingarden-Bandes, referring to the neighbor’s motivation for intervening.

Weingarden-Bandes recounted to ABC affiliate KOMO, “He just kept saying, ‘He was going to shoot the kids.’ I think he’s in shock, and he kept saying, ‘I have my gun, my gun’s still on me, my gun’s still on me,’ and that was about all he kept saying.”

Maningat, aged 23, lost her life in the turmoil, while her sister sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Witnesses reported hearing approximately ten gunshots during the incident.

“There were three family members involved in a domestic situation,” Puyallup Police Capt. Kevin Gill told reporters at a press conference. “It spilled outside of the house and ended up in the neighbor’s driveway or garage area. One of the family members ended up shooting two other adult family members.”

Gill said that “the homeowner of the neighboring house intervened, and the suspect was shot by the homeowner,” per KOMO. “We’re interviewing a lot of witnesses who, as you can imagine, are quite distraught,” Gill told reporters.

According to local NBC affiliate KING, use of force is allowed to protect oneself or others under Washington law, but it must be reasonable and necessary and cannot exceed what is needed. Deadly force is only allowed if a person is facing serious harm or death, KING reports.

“That’s under investigation, as to exactly how the circumstances took place,” Gill said about the legality of the neighbor’s involvement. Police have reportedly been interviewing the resident, who is cooperating.

Family members told KOMO that Maningat was someone who “never held grudges and was always so accepting and genuinely kind.” It’s unclear what sparked the fight that led to the fatal shooting.

“She was like the ‘mom’ in every situation, always checking on people and making sure everyone was okay,” the family said in a statement. “She was just a really lovable person, and so many people loved her deeply.”

A GoFundMe describes Maningat’s death as stemming from “a devastating act of domestic violence” and “a tragedy that no family should ever have to endure.” It says the two stepdaughters who were shot have two other sisters “who are carrying fear, confusion, and heartbreak that no words can fully explain,” per the description.

“Everything about their lives changed in a matter of moments,” the GoFundMe says.

Shocking Uncensored Footage Shared by Trump Sparks Controversy: A Closer Look at the Viral Video

0

Warning: This article contains graphic content that may be disturbing to some readers.

Donald Trump has shared violent, uncensored footage of a woman being bludgeoned to death in Florida, accompanied by a long-winded social media spray against his predecessor Joe Biden’s immigration policies.
Haitian man Rolbert Joachin – who the US Department of Homeland Security said was granted a protected visa under the Biden administration in 2022 – has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly beating a mother with a hammer outside a gas station in Fort Myers on April 3.

Describing the horrific attack as “one of the most vicious things you will ever see,” the president shared unedited CCTV footage of the incident on Truth Social.

Donald Trump shares violent footage of woman being killed in hammer attack

The surveillance video captures the moment when a woman steps outside a gas station after reportedly hearing a man vandalizing an SUV with a hammer.

In a shocking turn, the man approaches the woman and delivers multiple blows to her head with the same weapon.

Tragically, the woman was declared dead at the scene.

According to reports, the victim was from Bangladesh and had been working at a clerk at the convenience store.

“This animal was allowed to stay here because the Biden Administration granted him, and all Haitians, “Temporary Protective Status,” a massively abused and fraudulent program which my Administration is working to terminate, but Deranged Liberal District Court Judges are standing in our way,” Trump wrote.

“This one killing should be enough for these Radical Judges to STOP impeding my Administration’s Immigration Policies, and allow us to END THIS SCAM ONCE AND FOR ALL.”

The Biden administration offered legal protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants under a temporary visa program.

Homeland Security alleges Joachin’s Temporary Protected Status expired in 2024.

The department revoked the temporary visa status for people from the four countries last year, warning that they would lose any legal right to work in the US from April 2025.

Trump went on to accuse Biden of turning the US into a “dumping ground” for immigrants.

“Allowing Tens of MILLIONS of Criminals, Lunatics, and the Mentally Insane from all over the World to pour into our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked through our wide Open Borders,” he added.

“As I’ve said all along, if you import the Third World, you become the Third World, and that is what happened over the four years of Democrat Control. We are rapidly trying to reverse this decline through Deportations, but if the Democrats are ever given another chance at power, they will immediately REOPEN the Border, and allow America to once again be a Safe Haven for Criminals.”

The president vowed “quick and severe justice” for the victim’s family.

He went on to warn against watching the footage, despite sharing it to Truth Social unblurred and in full.

“I don’t recommend you watch this tape, because it is so terrible, but felt I had an obligation to put it up so that people can see what Democrats are protecting, and wanting to come into our Country, even now, after all we’ve been through,” Trump wrote.

“Again, viewer discretion advised – Not for children!”

DCLM Daily Manna 10 April 2026 — What A Question!

DCLM Daily Manna 10 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — What A Question!

TOPIC: What A Question! (DCLM Daily Manna 10 April 2026)

KEY VERSE: Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David – Matthew 22:42

TEXT: Matthew 22:41-46 (KJV)

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

In 2016, the world witnessed an event that stunned global intellectual and political circles: the unexpected outcome of the US presidential election. Pundits, pollsters, and seasoned analysts had confidently predicted one result, only for reality to overturn their calculations. The shock exposed a truth often overlooked by the world’s elite: even the sharpest minds can misjudge the forces at play.

A similar moment unfolds in our passage. The Pharisees – religious scholars, legal experts, and the intellectual elite of their time – had spent the day challenging Jesus with intricate theological and legal traps. Yet, with a single question, Christ dismantled their assumptions, exposing the limits of their understanding. The question He asked was not merely an intellectual puzzle but a revelation of divine mystery – “What think ye of Christ? Whose son is he?” They responded with certainty: “The Son of David.” It was the expected answer, drawn from prophetic Scriptures. But Jesus pressed further: “How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?”

The logic was inescapable. If the Messiah was merely David’s son, why did David himself call Him Lord? The Pharisees, men trained in theological argumentation, were left speechless. The passage concludes with a striking statement: “And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.” Christ’s question shattered their limited framework. They had confined the Messiah to human lineage and earthly rule, but Jesus revealed a greater reality: He was not just David’s descendant but David’s Lord.

Everybody from all occupations – academics, policy makers, thought leaders, and influencers – must answer this question at some point in their lives. In an age where human intelligence and expertise are exalted above any other consideration, we must confront an uncomfortable truth: knowledge alone does not lead to ultimate wisdom. Today, scholars no doubt dissect theology, leaders shape nations, and innovators push boundaries; yet, without Christ, all wisdom is vain. The question remains relevant: What think ye of Christ? Is He just a historical figure, a moral teacher, or the Lord of all, including your own Lord and Saviour? The response is all yours to give.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The best of earthly wisdom is far from being a match for divine wisdom.

Rhapsody Of Realities 10 April 2026: Rich In Christ

Rhapsody Of Realities 10 April 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Rich In Christ

TOPIC: Rich In Christ (Rhapsody of Realities 10 April 2026)

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

The Word of God is clear: poverty is not from God; therefore, you should never accept the message of poverty. Poverty is inconsistent with our divine nature and heritage in Christ. The Bible shows clearly that the Lord Jesus became poor, in contrast to His true wealth, for one purpose: that you might become rich.

That’s what we read in our opening scripture. It wasn’t referring to spiritual riches; the Lord Jesus was never poor spiritually. The context is financial and material blessings. He laid aside all that belonged to Him so that through His substitutionary work, you would come into prosperity and financial abundance.

Some may say that God isn’t interested in making His children rich, but the Word already declares His will. In Christ, you’re an heir of God. All things are yours. Some may choose not to enjoy them, but they should never claim that poverty is God’s plan. The blessing of God brings prosperity, supply, and supernatural advantage.

Let’s for a moment review and ponder the magnitude of what belongs to us, our riches in Christ, as stated in Ephesians 3:8. Paul, by the Spirit, writes, “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints (God’s consecrated people), this grace (favor, privilege) was granted and graciously entrusted: to proclaim to the Gentiles the unending (boundless, fathomless, incalculable, and exhaustless) riches of Christ [wealth which no human being could have searched out]” (AMPC).

Our riches are unsearchable, beyond quantification, exhaustless, boundless, and incalculable. This is the kind of wealth you’ve been called to enjoy. It’s Kingdom wealth—superior to earthly economics—and it’s yours now in Christ Jesus. Therefore, refuse to think lack. Refuse to talk scarcity. Live with the consciousness of your divine inheritance.

Every so often, say to yourself, “I have unsearchable riches in Christ. All things are mine. I walk in abundance, and I give lavishly into the Gospel for the advancement of the Kingdom.” Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the unsearchable riches of Christ that belong to me. I walk in divine supply, abundance, and I’m empowered to give, to bless, and to cause the Gospel to spread everywhere. I reject lack and embrace the fullness of your provision, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

1 Corinthians 3:21-23 (KJV) Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; [22] Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; [23] And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

Ephesians 3:8 (GNT) I am less than the least of all God’s people; yet God gave me this privilege of taking to the Gentiles the Good News about the infinite riches of Christ,

Galatians 3:29 (KJV) And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

REMINDER!!! JESUS IS COMING SOON

ARE YOU BORN AGAIN? IF NO, WHY NOT ACCEPT JESUS NOW!

Accept Jesus Christ today and secure a life of eternal rest and Glory by saying this short prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I believe you died for my sins, Forgive me of all my iniquities. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour from today and forever.

Come and Be the Lord of my life and I am willing to obey Your command and live according to Your will by Your Grace, Thank you for accepting me into Your fold

AMEN!!! John 6:37…and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Set to Tie the Knot: Exclusive Details on Date and Venue

0

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are preparing for a grand wedding celebration this summer.

Sources reveal that the acclaimed singer, 36, and the NFL star, also 36, are set to exchange vows in New York on July 3.

Insiders mention that invitees were required to submit a signed non-disclosure agreement along with their RSVPs when they received the save-the-date cards, aiming to maintain secrecy around the event.

Despite Swift recently donning bridal-themed attire in New York City, the couple, including the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, reportedly feels let down by the leak of details but does not intend to take legal action.

Although the precise location of the ceremony remains a mystery, it is rumored to be held in a venue resembling a large arena or a museum.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Swift and Kelce for comment.

The location comes as a surprise as fans had previously speculated whether the highly-anticipated wedding would be taking place at Swift’s $17 million Rhode Island mansion.

However, Swift has long-standing ties to New York.

She bought two neighboring penthouses in Tribeca in 2014, later combining them into one expansive duplex. Since then, she has also bought the townhouse next door and a 3,500-square-foot loft in the same building.

The superstar also wrote an ode to the city with her 2014 hit song Welcome to New York.

In 2016, she rented a townhouse on Cornelia Street in Greenwich Village, later naming a track Cornelia Street on her 2019 album Lover.

Swift is often spotted around New York City, dining at restaurants with her famous friends.

Sources previously said preparations are very much underway, and that Swift has already made specific demands about what she wants her big day to look like.

‘It will take place someplace indoors,’ one insider shared.

‘Taylor doesn’t want it to be like Selena’s wedding,’ the insider continued, referring to the recent nuptials of the pop star’s best friend Selena Gomez – who wed Benny Blanco in white marquees outdoors at the Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California, last September.

It is understood the worry is that privacy couldn’t be properly ensured at an outdoor venue.

The ‘whole thing will be recorded’ so that the newlyweds can look back on their big day, according to our first source, who suggested Swift may wish to share some moments with fans.

Both insiders also confirmed that the reception will be ‘big,’ as Swift herself revealed on The Graham Norton Show last October while promoting her latest album The Life of a Showgirl.

Sitting on Norton’s famous red sofa, Swift described the wedding as ‘huge’ and said she was ‘so excited about it’ because ‘the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount’.

She said having fewer guests often means you ‘have to evaluate or assess your relationship’ with friends.

‘I’m not gonna do that,’ she added, before joking: ‘Anyone I’ve ever talked to [is getting an invitation].’

Aside from the couple’s respective families, Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany Mahomes are expected to attend, as well as Gomez and Blanco.

But it will surprise no one that Swift’s BFF-turned-enemy Blake Lively is unlikely to receive an invite, our sources said.

We’re also told that while Swift has seemingly put the months of drama with the It Ends With Us actress behind her – after being dragged into the latter’s legal saga with Justin Baldoni – Swift and Lively, 38, are still not as close as they once were.

Kelce popped the question to Swift last summer after two years together in an intimate and romantic proposal held in the backyard of his Kansas mansion.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Swift wrote: ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.’

Swift has previously dated Joe Alwyn, Taylor Lautner, Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Hiddleston, while Kelce was in a long-term relationship with YouTuber Kayla Nicole.

Council Employees Advocate for Four-Day Work Week Amid Rising Fuel Costs

0

In Brief

  • A union representing council workers has proposed a four-day working week amid the fuel crisis.
  • It says workers are struggling to keep up with extra fuel costs.

NSW council employees are at the forefront in advocating for a four-day work week in response to a severe fuel and energy crisis, which some are saying surpasses the previous two crises combined.

The United Services Union (USU) has brought forward a new proposal to the NSW Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) today. The proposal emphasizes the need for enhanced job protections and greater flexibility to support its members amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The USU, which represents approximately 25,000 local government workers across NSW and the ACT, reports that nearly half of its members are facing challenges commuting to work due to the escalating fuel prices.

Since the onset of the fuel crisis in March, the USU conducted a survey involving 1,293 council workers. Results indicated that 72 percent have cut back on personal activities to save on fuel expenses, while 70 percent felt that company allowances did not sufficiently cover these rising costs.

The survey also revealed that 40 percent of respondents are spending at least an additional $50 weekly on petrol, with 20 percent incurring over $100 more each week.

The union has asked the IRC to lock in work-from-home rights, and for a 50 per cent increase in fuel subsidies.

“Last week we wrote to all 128 councils in NSW asking them to look at work-from-home provisions for staff who are able to, and for consideration of four-day weeks for those who cannot,” USU head of legal Daniel Papps said.

“Since then we have seen no change in the situation in the Middle East and so now we are ramping up our efforts on behalf of our members to make sure they’re not carrying the impact of this crisis.”

Papps said the union had suggested a four-day work week be considered for staff who can’t work from home.

“That might mean they work an extra few hours each day, but save themselves one daily commute,” he said.

“This is important for our regional members who sometimes drive 100 kilometres back and forth to work each day, and our members in the city who struggle with hour-long commutes to and from work.”

The proposed Local Government (Fuel Crisis) Splinter Award 2026 could benefit up to 55,000 council workers in roles ranging across road construction and garden maintenance; to positions in libraries, swimming pools and call centres.

“It’s my hope we’ll be able to come up with a series of measures and relief for workers across NSW to deal with the emerging and continuing fuel crisis,” Papps said.

He called for a sober discussion between workers and their bosses over measures that could be put in place to conserve fuel so people can save money and keep fuel for the people who need it most, such as truckies and farmers.

Many countries in the Asia Pacific region rely on fuel that travels through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has blocked for the past month after US strikes on the country. International Energy Agency director Fatih Birol described the resulting global fuel shortage as the worse than the previous Gulf wars and Russia’s war on Ukraine combined.

To conserve resources, government workers in the Philippines have moved to a four-day work week, while Sri Lanka has declared each Wednesday a public holiday.

In Australia, the USU is expected to appear before the commission for further negotiations next Friday.

“We’ll have some preliminary discussions with the employers in between now and Friday to get a sense of what they’re looking for. But our hope is that we’re able to come to a sensible compromise by next week,” Papps said.

Robert MacIntyre’s Fiery Reaction Caught on Camera During Dramatic Masters Round

0

As the Masters unfolded, many golfers felt a pang of empathy watching Robert MacIntyre’s struggle on the notorious 15th hole on Thursday.

Ranked as the world’s No. 8, MacIntyre faced a challenging moment when his ball found the water hazard twice on Augusta National’s 15th hole during the tournament’s opening round. Frustration got the better of him, leading to a candid moment caught on camera as he gestured his displeasure with a middle finger aimed at his misbehaving ball.

This unfortunate turn led to a quadruple-bogey nine on the 15th, marking a rough start for MacIntyre at the Masters.

By the end of the day, he recorded an 8-over-par 80, placing him tied for 82nd.

His frustration was building even before this incident. As reported by the Telegraph, MacIntyre’s temper flared on the 12th hole after an unsatisfactory tee shot, audibly expressing his exasperation with, “It’s now going left to right, Jesus f–k!”

When MacIntyre putted off the green on 13, he yelled, “F—– w—–.”

Cameras also caught him slamming his golf club on the fairway on the 17th hole.

The outbursts could earn MacIntyre a reprimand from the famously strict Augusta National officials, who prefer to issue “severe warnings” rather than fines, according to the Telegraph.

MacIntyre is known to have a bit of a fiery personality and last week during the Valero Texas Open, a mic picked up his saying his shot was “f–king s–t.”

Addressing the instance this week before the start of the Masters, MacIntyre told The Scotsman that he knows that he’s “volatile, and I know the bad language and stuff, but that’s just me.”

“I am trying to do my best out on the golf course,” he said. “I’m a sportsman and it is live sport. I’m going to react the way I want to react. I’m not going to change how I react because there is someone standing there or elsewhere. I am trying to do the best that I can and I will take my time after to go and sign autographs with kids and what not, but, when I am playing golf I am red-lining.”

The first day of the Masters ended with Rory McIlroy, the defending tournament champion, opening with a 5-under par 67 and a share of the lead with Sam Burns.
