Justice for Anna Kepner: Father Demands Maximum Penalty for Stepbrother Accused in Shocking Cruise Ship Murder

0

The father of an 18-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered and sexually assaulted in her cruise ship cabin is speaking out, labeling her accused stepbrother as a “danger” who should be in “an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs.”

Christopher Kepner expressed his outrage to the Daily Mail, revealing his frustration that the accused, identified as 16-year-old T.H., is still residing with a relative despite facing federal charges as an adult.

“We’re upset that he’s still out. We’re six months in, and he should already have been arrested, yet he’s free to do whatever he wants right now,” Kepner remarked to the outlet. “That’s our problem. He’s been able to do whatever he wants and go where he wants, but the family has been sitting here unable to do anything.”

Initially charged as a juvenile on February 2, T.H. now faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse. If convicted, the teenager could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The 16-year-old stepbrother, referred to as T.H. in court documents, stands accused of sexually assaulting and deliberately killing 18-year-old Anna Kepner on the Carnival Cruise Line’s Horizon ship.

The charges come months after the teen, affectionately called “Anna banana,” was found dead onboard the cruise ship during a family vacation with her father, stepmother, grandparents and several siblings.

“I want to see him in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. He does not need to be free. He does not need to be in the general public, around any kids or women in general,” Christopher Kepner said.

“He’s a danger to himself and a danger to others.”

Kepner said that the 16-year-old has shown no remorse since the alleged murder, the Daily Mail reported.

“He’s still saying that he can’t remember and that’s about it. He hasn’t apologized. He hasn’t shown any remorse for anything,” he added.

On Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida announced that Anna’s stepbrother would be charged as an adult.

The teen is facing possible life in prison if convicted, records showed. Fox News Digital has reached out to T.H.’s attorneys for comment.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this unimaginable loss,” U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida said. “A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging serious offenses that allegedly occurred aboard a vessel in international waters. We will present the evidence in court and pursue this case with professionalism and care. As in every case, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Anna Kepner was discovered dead around 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 7 inside her cabin aboard the cruise ship. Authorities later ruled her death a homicide caused by “mechanical asphyxiation,” according to documents previously reviewed by Fox News Digital.

According to investigators, she was found under the bed in her cabin, wrapped in a blanket and covered with life jackets. The cabin was shared with her stepbrother.

In February, T.H. was seen arriving in federal court in Miami. The teenager walked into the courthouse in a camouflage hoodie, his face concealed beneath a low-pulled baseball cap and a hood wrapped tightly around it.

Bernie Sanders Questions Trump’s Mental Fitness

0

During Tuesday’s episode of MS NOW’s “All In,” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) made a bold assertion regarding President Donald Trump, labeling him as “mentally unstable.”

Host Chris Hayes initiated the conversation by highlighting the president’s erratic behavior, noting that while Trump has displayed such tendencies for a decade, his current actions appear particularly alarming and hazardous. Hayes pointed out that Trump has instigated a conflict that has resulted in real casualties and injuries, yet it remains unresolved.

In response, Sanders remarked, “Chris, it’s evident we have a president who is mentally unstable. He consistently lies. His self-image as a divine or Christ-like entity is not only offensive to Catholics but also to people globally. This is someone who wants numerous buildings across the country named after him. He enabled Netanyahu, who for decades sought a U.S. president’s backing for a war with Iran, and with Trump, Netanyahu succeeded. Tomorrow, we plan to present two resolutions reflecting what I believe the American people desire from Congress: to cease funding Netanyahu’s extremist government. Netanyahu has been waging a comprehensive, genocidal war in Gaza, initiated the conflict with Iran, and is breaching various international laws in the West Bank.”

Are App-Controlled, Rapid-Cooking Ovens Set to Replace Air Fryers in Modern Kitchens?

For generations, the oven, often accompanied by a built-in grill, has been the backbone of the kitchen, essential for preparing family meals. Its robust presence has made it a staple in households around the world.

However, the landscape of kitchen appliances has evolved with the introduction of more compact, countertop options.

The microwave, which gained popularity in the 1980s, revolutionized meal preparation with its ability to heat or cook food in mere minutes using electromagnetic waves. Despite its convenience, some culinary purists have remained skeptical, critiquing its tendency to produce less visually appealing results.

In recent years, the air fryer has emerged as a significant game-changer, transforming the way we cook. Its rise to mainstream popularity about five years ago has reshaped culinary habits, offering a new, healthier approach to meal preparation.

Time-poor cooks have raved about the affordable appliances, which start from as low as £20 and work by circulating very hot air at high speeds around food to create dishes that feel oven-cooked in no time at all.

Even professional chefs have hailed it as a must-have, saying it offers a more efficient way of cooking that’s often healthier because fat is quickly drained off.

Jamie Oliver’s passion for the appliance spawned a cook book, TV show and collaboration with Tefal to create his own range of air fryers.

Where have such changing trends left the traditional main oven? Turned off mostly, with many families saying they use it only to prepare bigger weekend meals, including Sunday roasts.

Main ovens have been sidelined as microwaves and air fryers have caught home cooks' attention - but kitchen innovation experts say technology is poised to give the appliance a reboot

The air fryer has become the must-have kitchen appliance of the last decade – with even professional chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay raving about their efficiency… but critics moan about the space they take up

However, according to experts in culinary innovation the kitchen landscape is changing again – and we’re increasingly losing our appetite for the stand-alone air fryer.

Focus has shifted back to making the oven, often integrated, once more the focal point of a modern kitchen – with technologic advances transforming them into sleek-looking, futuristic cooking machines.

Those sold by major electrical retailers are already increasingly sophisticated, with self-cleaning (using very high heats to burn off food residue and grease), automatic cooking and steam functionalities featuring in even more basic models.

Technology is poised to go even further though, with cooks in the next decade likely to enjoy hyper-speed cooking, live oven cameras and voice activated controls as standard.

Jag Sandhu, UK account manager at high-end Swedish kitchen brand ASKO, told the Daily Mail: ‘We’re seeing more demand for things like guided cooking, automatic settings and connected features that let you check in remotely or get a bit of extra help when needed.

‘At the same time, people don’t want things to feel complicated, so the best technology is the kind that works quietly in the background and plays a big role in simplifying daily routine.’

Apps now let you control cooking from afar

Apps now let you control cooking from afar, and the Smeg Omnichef, which starts at around £1500, can already cook a roast chicken in 30 minutes and roast potatoes in 35 minutes

Integrated air fryers are increasingly being introduced and next-generation heating technology, including using graphite elements that can shave 30 per cent off cooking times, means pre-heating an oven is likely to soon be a thing of the past.

The Smeg Omnichef, for example, promises seven-in-one cooking that can roast a whole chicken in just 30 minutes, and roast potatoes in 35, using a combination of traditional, microwave and steam cooking.

Last year, electronics giant Haier launched the ID Series 6 Oven, which can choose a cooking programme based on AI cameras detecting the dish that’s been placed inside it.

Bosch’s Series 8 built-in ovens come with a digital control ring engraved in the glass – as consumers want the technology they have elsewhere in the home in the kitchen

Not only can the appliance capture the cooking in real-time – you can watch via the hOn app – but it also automatically adjusts the temperature if dishes are looking more bronzed than they should.

And it gets to know the tastes of the household tucking in too – if you’re a family who likes roast potatoes on the crispy side, the ID Series 6, which costs around £1,200 quickly learns that preference.

Combi-Steam ovens from upmarket New Zealand brand Fisher & Paykel, which retail from around £1,000 depending on the model, for example, already include a voice-activated oven door that can be controlled via an app.

Over at Bosch, AI is also being embraced when it comes to cooking up a storm; the brand’s Series 8 built-in ovens comes with a 6.8in touch screen and a digital control ring engraved in the glass.

Sophie Lane, product training manager at Miele GB says consumers want the same tech they have elsewhere extended to one of the most important rooms in the home.

She tells the Daily Mail: ‘What’s really driving the next wave of innovation is the move towards more intelligent, connected appliances that deliver consistently high-quality results.

‘It’s not just about one feature, it’s the combination of connectivity, sensors and automatic programmes that’s transforming how people cook and giving them greater confidence in the kitchen.’

And a burnt pan could soon also be confined to the cooking history books too.

Next month sees Miele launch its KM8000 induction hob paired with M Sense cookware – essentially using pans with built-in sensors that communicate directly with the hob to automatically adjust heat levels and prevent boiling over.

So, could it soon be thank you and goodnight to the air fryer, then?

Chloe Blanchfield, product and consumer manager at Hisense, says the brand is now introducing ovens with built-in air fryer functionality at all levels from entry to premium.

She explains: ‘The oven’s central role within the kitchen makes it difficult to replace. Air fryers simply cannot match the capacity or versatility of an oven and many modern smart ovens now feature dedicated air-fry settings that deliver comparable results without requiring manual input.’

Blanchfield adds that besides the technology, aesthetics play a major role too, with cooks simply tired of having work surfaces that are cluttered up with appliances.

‘There is a clear shift towards sleeker kitchen designs with minimal countertop clutter. Even those who favour more expressive or maximalist interiors still want the flexibility to decide what is on display – typically prioritising aesthetics over functional appliances,’ she says.

Australia and Brunei Forge Crucial Energy Partnership to Tackle Fuel Shortages and Economic Concerns

0

Australia has forged a pivotal agreement with its Asian neighbor, Brunei, aimed at boosting the availability of fertiliser for its farmers. This move comes at a crucial juncture as the nation grapples with ongoing challenges posed by the fuel crisis.

During his second stop on a tour across Asia, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed that Australia has entered into a Joint Statement on Energy and Food Security with Brunei. This strategic partnership is set to enhance the flow of fertiliser from Brunei into Australia, providing much-needed relief for the agricultural sector.

Highlighting the significance of the agreement, Prime Minister Albanese noted that approximately 11 percent of Australia’s fertiliser and 9 percent of its diesel imports originate from Brunei. He emphasized the mutual benefits of this deal, asserting that it serves the interests of all Australians.

“In our discussions, we addressed not only the current supply levels but also explored opportunities for additional supplies,” Albanese explained, after engaging in talks with Brunei’s Sultan and Prime Minister, Hassanal Bolkiah.

He concluded by stating, “This agreement fortifies our fuel security while simultaneously bolstering our economy.”

Albanese cut a positive figure, but Australia is still being hit hard by crosswinds caused by the Middle East conflict, with the fuel crisis continuing and fears growing of a recession.

The International Monetary Fund warned overspending and inflation partly caused by rising oil prices could cause a recession in Australia.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers admitted it was a difficult economic climate, but insisted it was caused mostly by matters outside of Australia’s control.

“Our economy is under very substantial pressure because of events on the other side of the world Australians didn’t choose, but they’re paying a hefty price for that,” he said.

The federal government has moved to ease the fuel crisis, including two independent local suppliers, IOR and Park Fuels, which allows the government to underwrite some additional costs, meaning it will be cheaper for them to buy fuel.

Australian Energy Minister Chris Bowen.

Both suppliers are key players in regional Australia, where farmers are feeling the pinch.

“To just get one two-litre bottle of milk to the shelf, it’s costing me $1.90 just in freight, it’s madness,” a dairy farmer told Today.

Energy Minister Chris Bowen said the government was doing all it could to alleviate impacts.

“We’ll continue to work and leave nothing on the field to make sure Australians and Australia are in the best place to get that fuel,” he said.

Pregnant Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s Luxurious Swiss Getaway: A Final Adventure Before Welcoming Baby #2

On Wednesday, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury embarked on a special trip to Switzerland, flying on a private jet for what may be their last getaway before the arrival of their second child.

The couple appeared to be in high spirits, sharing a cozy selfie at the private airport. The trip serves as a double celebration—Tommy’s upcoming 27th birthday on May 7 and Molly’s achievement of making it onto the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Tommy took to Instagram to express his gratitude, revealing that his “best friend” had given him a personalized gold boarding pass as an early birthday gift. This thoughtful gesture disclosed the destination of their journey: Switzerland.

The boarding pass indicated their departure from Signature, known for its private aviation services. However, it remains unclear if their three-year-old daughter, Bambi, accompanied them on this celebratory excursion.

Tommy captioned the post with, “Early birthday present from my best friend,” highlighting the excitement surrounding their trip.

In a second snap, the couple looked in good spirits as they posed on the runway with their private jet waiting behind them ready to board.

Pregnant Molly, who is due in June, showed off her natural beauty as she went makeup free wearing a khaki leather jacket layered over a grey T-shirt.

Meanwhile Tommy beamed in a black jacket and matching T-shirt as he captioned the post: ‘Last trip before we are 4’.

The trip comes the same day that Molly became the first Love Island star to land a place on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List – as her influencer empire surges to a staggering £20million.

The entrepreneur has been recognised in the Retail and Ecommerce category for her impact on the beauty and fashion industries through her brands Filter by Molly-Mae and Maebe.

Forbes highlighted her growing influence as part of MMH Group Holdings, which generated significant revenues in 2025.

Since rising to fame on Love Island in 2019 alongside fiancé Tommy, Molly has built a social media following of more than 16 million across Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, transforming her reality TV profile into a multi-platform business empire.

Her journey is also documented in the Amazon Prime Video series Behind It All, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at her life balancing entrepreneurship, motherhood and fame.

The achievement follows Molly’s recent collaboration with Adidas, which sold out within minutes. The partnership saw her design two trainers with the global sportswear giant.

Her beauty and fashion empire continues to expand, with her tanning brand Filter stocked in major retailers including Selfridges and Boots, while her clothing label Maebe continues to grow.

Molly began building her personal brand at just 17, launching a YouTube channel where she created beauty and fashion content for a growing young audience, years before her appearance on Love Island.

She left London’s Fashion Retail Academy to pursue her own path, going on to collaborate with brands such as PrettyLittleThing, which helped elevate her profile further.

Throughout her career, she has brought her followers along with her journey, sharing personal milestones and challenges.

This has included her 2024 split from Tommy, which made headlines around the world.

The pair called off their engagement, with Tommy saying he was to blame following struggles with alcohol addiction.

The couple have since reconciled and recently moved into a new family home, which they are currently renovating as they prepare for the arrival of their second child.

Molly has also been honest with her audience about motherhood, openly discussing the challenges she has faced while adjusting to parenthood.

And more recently the influencer addressed Tommy’s controversial fight date being so close to when she is expected to give birth to their second child.

The Love Island stars, who are already parents to three-year-old daughter Bambi, rekindled their romance last year.

However, Tommy has revealed his plans to fight retired strongman Eddie Hall at the AO Arena in Manchester on June 13.

After reported claims that her family are ‘worried by his decision,’ Molly-Mae has revealed what she really thinks about it.

Opening up in a Q&A video on her YouTube channel, she said: ‘A lot of questions about how do you feel about Tommy’s fight and obviously the date of it,’ she said in her vlog.

‘Obviously I knew that you guys were going to like be concerned about that and have questions about that, but fear not.

‘Fear not fair maiden because we’re actually feeling really, really good about it and have a really good plan in place.’

She went on: ‘There’s actually like a good amount of time between my birth, my supposed birth because basically I’m having the baby in London again.

‘So I gave birth with Bambi at The Portland.

‘I’m not worried and I’m actually really, really happy that he’s got a fight because it’s been over a year since his last fight.’

She continued: ‘So just having a date for something and and having a focus and us having like I don’t know something to look forward to in the fight like it’s just I think it’s actually a really, really, really positive thing and he will be here when I get home.

‘He will be able to support me.’

Tension Unfolds: Yhemolee and Rahman Jago Allegedly Avoid Each Other at Event

  • Reports indicate potential tension between Nigerian socialites Yhemolee and Rahman Jago.
  • The source of the tension is their attendance at the wedding of Abuja Car CEO Sadiq.
  • The wedding, held on April 12, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, was highly publicized.

Rumors swirling online indicate a potential rift between Nigerian socialites Yhemolee and Rahman Jago, spurred by their appearance at the much-anticipated wedding of Sadiq, CEO of Abuja Car. This opulent affair, held on April 12 at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, has been hailed as one of the year’s most significant social events, attracting a blend of political heavyweights, influential business figures, and entertainment stars, all amidst an atmosphere of sheer luxury.

The guest list for this extravagant celebration was nothing short of impressive. It featured Vice President Kashim Shettima, Seyi Tinubu, and a host of governors and senators. The event also saw attendance from notable public personalities and entertainers, including VeryDarkMan, Young Jonn, and Seyi Vibez, alongside popular figures like Shanks Comics, Josh2Funny, Ola of Lagos, and Sarkin Motors.

Blogger Cutie Juls, known for her insider scoops, has reported that Yhemolee and Rahman Jago, once considered friendly, appeared to maintain a noticeable distance during the festivities. Sources present at the event claim that the two deliberately refrained from engaging with each other despite sharing the same glamorous venue.

Eyewitnesses noted that Rahman Jago made his entrance accompanied by his entourage, whereas Yhemolee arrived separately with his own group. Throughout the high-profile gathering, observers pointed out that neither man extended a greeting nor acknowledged the other’s presence, stirring speculation about an underlying discord.

Eyewitness accounts further suggest that Rahman Jago arrived at the venue with his associates, while Yhemolee later entered separately with his own circle. Observers noted that both men attended the same high-profile gathering but did not exchange greetings or acknowledge each other publicly.

The apparent coldness between them has since sparked speculation on social media, with many questioning whether a fallout may have occurred and what could have led to the reported strain in their relationship.

Cutie Juls wrote, “Last night there was so awkward between Yhemolee and Rahman Jago at Sadiq’s wedding reception in Abuja. Rahama Jago came in with Sula and co and later Yhemolee came in with the CEO of Tokyo Nightlife. Rahman Jago and Yhemolee who were once friends seems to have some issues.

They avoided any sort of contact as if they’ve never met each other. Even when people were greeting each other, these two tactically avoided each other. Hmmm.. Told our amebo team to focus and get us first hand info should they at least say hi to each other but no, they didn’t. Hmmm. 👩‍🦯.”

China Condemns Hormuz Blockade as ‘Irresponsible’; Trump Signals Potential Peace Talks Revival

0

In brief

  • China has criticised the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, while calling for a permanent ceasefire.
  • US President Donald Trump hinted talks with Iran about ending the war in the Middle East could resume in the coming days.

China’s foreign ministry has criticized the United States for imposing a military blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, calling the action “dangerous and irresponsible.” According to Beijing, such measures are likely to heighten tensions and jeopardize a fragile ceasefire with Iran.

This statement follows an announcement by US President Donald Trump, who told the New York Post that peace negotiations with Iran might resume soon, potentially taking place in Pakistan.

Addressing these developments on Tuesday, Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, emphasized that a comprehensive ceasefire is essential for achieving lasting peace. He condemned the US blockade, which was initiated after unsuccessful peace talks with Iran.

“The blockade will only intensify confrontation, escalate tension, and threaten the already delicate ceasefire,” Jiakun stated. “Moreover, it endangers safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Such actions are both dangerous and irresponsible.”

The US Central Command has reported that the blockade involves over 10,000 military personnel, more than a dozen warships, and numerous aircraft, and it took effect at midnight on Tuesday, Australian Eastern Standard Time.

“During the first 24 hours, no ships made it past the ‌US blockade and ‌6 merchant vessels complied with direction from US forces to turn around to re-enter an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman,” the command said in a statement.

“The blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the ‌Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.

“US forces are supporting freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.”

It comes as Trump said talks with Iran could resume in the next two days, according to an interview with the New York Post.

“You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there,” Trump told the newspaper.

Trump said Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, was doing a “great job” on the talks.

“He’s ‌fantastic, and therefore it’s more likely that we go back there,” Trump said.

The initial round of talks over the weekend ended without an agreement on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which the White House said was a central sticking point.

Reuters, citing an unnamed source involved in the talks, on Tuesday reported that Iran and the US could return to the Pakistani capital as early as the end of this week, and that a proposal had been shared with both sides to resend their delegations.

“No firm date has been set, with the delegations keeping Friday through Sunday open,” a senior Iranian source said.

JD Vance Faces Hecklers During Speech Criticizing Pope’s Stance on Iran

0

During a speech in Georgia, Vice-President JD Vance faced a vocal interruption while criticizing Pope Leo’s comments on the Iranian conflict.

Addressing the audience at a Turning Point USA event, Vance found himself momentarily halted as an attendee loudly interrupted his critique of the Pope’s remarks on theological matters.

Vance took a moment to directly address the disruption, urging the heckler to remain silent so he could continue addressing a question.

The Vice-President was responding to the Pope’s ongoing denouncement of the war, which the pontiff described as “absurd and inhuman.”

While acknowledging the Pope’s advocacy for peace, Vance challenged his perspective, questioning whether divine approval could ever align with those who “wield the sword.”

He cited historic examples including the liberation of France from the Nazis and the freeing of Holocaust victims, arguing that in such cases the answer was ‘yes’.

‘I think it’s very, very important for the Pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology,’ Vance said, before briefly breaking off to deal with the heckler.

The Pope, the first American to lead the Catholic Church, had earlier insisted he had ‘no fear’ of the Donald Trump administration and would continue ‘speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel’.

Vance said he respected the Pope’s role as an advocate for peace, but pushed back on his stance, questioning whether God could ever support those who ‘wield the sword’

His remarks have set up an increasingly public clash with Trump allies over the conflict, as divisions deepen over the moral framing of the war.

It comes as President Donald Trump lashed out at Pope Leo over his remarks opposing the war in Iran in a late-night post to his Truth Social page on Tuesday.

Pope Leo XIV has been vocally critical of the joint US-Israeli strikes in Iran, prompting the president to hit back and suggest that the US-born pontiff stay out of politics – a message he doubled down on in his post.

‘Will someone please tell Pope Leo that Iran has killed at least 42,000 innocent, completely unarmed, protesters in the last two months, and that for Iran to have a Nuclear Bomb is absolutely unacceptable,’ Trump wrote on his social media platform Tuesday night.

His repudiation of the pope came as the US military announced that a military blockade of the vital Strait of Hormuz waterway has been ‘fully implemented,’ leaving trade coming into and out of Iran ‘completely halted,’ officials said Tuesday night.

Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, made the announcement on X amid reports that a Chinese tanker and another vessel were forced to make U-turns after passing through the Strait, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.

Oil tanker Rich Starry is owned by Shanghai Xuanrun Shipping Co Ltd. and became a target for US sanctions because it was used to transport Iranian crude.

After circling the area late on Monday and initially turning back, the 600ft long vessel passed through the waterway on Tuesday.

It then turned around and headed back to the Gulf at 11am UTC.

Rich Starry is a medium-range tanker that is carrying about 250,000 barrels of methanol, according to the data. It loaded the cargo at its last port of call, the UAE’s Hamriyah, the data showed.

Warehouse Blaze Captured on Film: Worker Cites Luigi Mangione in $500M Fire Incident

0

A frustrated employee from the Inland Empire, accused of inflicting half a billion dollars in damage, cited the name Luigi Mangione while recording himself setting a warehouse ablaze. The incident, according to officials, was a protest against low wages.

Chamel Abdulkarim, 29, hailing from Highland, California, has been charged with intentionally starting the devastating fire on April 7 that consumed a 1.2 million-square-foot Kimberly-Clark distribution center in Ontario. Earlier this week, he entered a plea of not guilty to both federal and state charges, as reported by the authorities.

The Department of Justice’s criminal complaint reveals that Abdulkarim, employed at the site via a third-party logistics company, captured himself igniting several pallets of paper products during the early morning hours.

In the footage, he purportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with his pay, stating, “If you’re not going to pay us enough to [expletive] live… at least pay us enough not to do this,” as detailed in the DOJ affidavit.

Federal prosecutors say the flames quickly spread, collapsing the roof and leveling the entire facility, which stored household products like Kleenex and Cottonelle.

Investigators allege Abdulkarim later bragged about the destruction in texts and phone calls, including one message that read, “I just cost these [expletive] billions,” while railing against corporate profits and shareholders.

In a separate call, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said Abdulkarim compared himself to Mangione — the suspect accused in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

“Luigi popped that muther——,” Abdulkarim said, according to the federal complaint, adding “a lot of people are going to understand.”

Fox News contributor and former FBI special agent Nicole Parker told Fox News Digital that Abdulkarim seems to have used similar tactics as Mangione, calling it the “Luigi effect.”

“Luigi garnered a substantial amount of attention and empathy from many because of his ‘cause’ as a justification for his grievance,” she said. “Several are now copying him to one degree or another in an effort to gain that same level of attention and hero status.”

Abdulkarim “believes he was speaking and acting out on behalf of the American people” as he ranted about workers being paid enough to live.

“Chamel was proud to have cost over $1 billion to the company,” Parker said. “It is a troubling time in our society when offenders will go to all lengths no matter how destructive or evil to prove a point for their cause.

“I refer to it as the ‘Luigi effect’ where offenders have learned to focus attention on their grievance through violence due to the sensationalization from online platforms and social media. Law enforcement and specifically the FBI will be digging into his behaviors and what led him down the path to violence. Turning to violence to settle a grievance is never the answer. He chose to carry out these awful crimes but he will not choose the consequence.”

Prosecutors allege Abdulkarim acted “willfully, maliciously, and with premeditation” when he set the fire, conduct they say was carried out under circumstances likely to cause injury and massive property destruction, according to a San Bernardino County felony complaint.

The complaint charges him with aggravated arson, a top-tier felony, along with multiple additional counts of arson of a structure tied to the same blaze.

Authorities say the fire caused losses far exceeding $10 million, a key threshold that elevates the severity of the charge, while federal officials estimate total damage at roughly $500 million.

“America is founded on free enterprise and capitalism… Anyone who attacks our values, our way of life, our system… we’re gonna come after aggressively,” Essayli said.

Abdulkarim was arrested about two miles from the scene shortly after the fire broke out. Roughly 175 firefighters responded to the six-alarm blaze, which is considered one of the most destructive warehouse fires in the region. No injuries were reported.

San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson blasted the alleged crime, calling arson “a real head-scratcher” and warning it puts lives, jobs and commerce at risk.

“I do not understand somebody… to displace people from their jobs, to ruin commerce, to get in the way of labor, to put people in physical harm,” Anderson said.

Abdulkarim is charged federally with arson of a building used in interstate and foreign commerce and faces multiple state felony counts that could significantly increase his prison exposure.

If convicted on the federal charge alone, he would face a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors have also signaled the case involves aggravating factors, including the scale of destruction and potential danger to others.

School Reaches Settlement with Grieving Mother After Tragic Student Tree Planting Incident

The mother of an Oregon student who tragically passed away while fulfilling a volunteer requirement for school has reached a settlement after initiating a multimillion-dollar lawsuit.

As reported by The Oregonian, documents from the court reveal that Portland’s Central Catholic High School and the nonprofit group Friends of Trees have settled with Sarah Kelly, the mother of Christopher Kelly, who sued them for $29 million. The exact settlement amount remains undisclosed.

According to a press release from law enforcement in 2021, Christopher died in November of that year in Multnomah County. He was hit by a falling tree limb in the vicinity of Thousand Acres Dog Park at the Sandy River Delta in Troutdale, near Portland. The accident occurred while he was completing volunteer hours necessary for graduation, when a large piece of a black cottonwood tree fell from 52 feet above, striking him on the head.

The lawsuit claimed that after being hit, Christopher continued to plant trees but ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene once emergency responders arrived.

In 2024, Christopher’s mother filed a lawsuit in Multnomah County Circuit Court, accusing Central Catholic High School and Friends of Trees of negligence. The complaint argued that they failed to protect the students from adverse weather conditions, despite forecasts predicting thunderstorms. It highlighted the lack of protective helmets for volunteers and the failure to move them to safety at the sound of thunder, as recommended by both the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

According to the filing, there were strong wind gusts and thunder reported 1 mile away from where the volunteers were planting trees. It reportedly noted that a group of students who were not properly dressed for the weather were huddled under a tent, and an arborist with Friends of Trees went to her car to get out of the elements. Christopher, who was a freshman, was allegedly planting trees with about 20 other students.

“Despite lifesaving efforts, the teenager did not survive their injuries,” police said in the 2021 press release.

Christopher’s obituary says he “died unexpectedly while he was volunteering.”

In a statement released after his death, Central Catholic said, “Our community was deeply saddened by the tragic death of freshman Christopher Kelly in 2021 and continues to share our sympathy with the Kelly family.”

According to Christopher’s obituary, the teen had been in foster care up until 2010, when he joined his adoptive family.

In addition to asking for donations to help “kiddos with learning differences,” the obituary asks that people who read it “please tell someone a dad joke” seeing as “Chris loved telling dad jokes.”
