Cardiff City’s Krystian Bielik Seemingly Grabs Fan by Throat in Bizarre Incident

0

Cardiff City defender Krystian Bielik was involved in a flashpoint with a supporter during Saturday’s Championship match at Portsmouth, prompting an apology from Pompey head coach John Mousinho.

The incident occurred around the 72nd minute with Cardiff behind, when Bielik moved toward the stands to retrieve the ball. Video appeared to show the 28-year-old making contact near the spectator’s throat area during the exchange.

It remains unclear who initiated the contact. However, Mousinho said afterward, citing what he had been told by the referee, that Bielik had been “struck” by a fan, according to The Athletic. Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy also said Bielik was “slapped in the face.”

“The referee said that, as Krystian went to get the ball, there was a little bit of a kerfuffle and one of the supporters struck him,” Mousinho told reporters after the match. “It wasn’t a good incident. I have just seen him there, and he was OK, but that’s not the point, we can’t be having that.

“We want to create a really difficult atmosphere at Fratton Park, we have done that successfully over the past few years. Sometimes it tips over, I understand that, I don’t think it needs to tip over to that extent. We extend our apologies to the players, Cardiff and make sure we can try to cut it out.”

Even if the fan made contact first, it’s unclear if Bielik — who played for West Brom last season and signed with Cardiff City last month — could still face consequences for subsequently grabbing the fan.

“I’m sure the club and the FA will look at this and implement the correct process,” Barry-Murphy told reporters.

Later in the match, another fan tried to throw the ball and make contact with Bielik but instead hit a Cardiff teammate, according to the Daily Mail.

Conor Shaughnessy and Marko Milovanovic scored the goals for Portsmouth during its 2-0 win Saturday, with Cardiff City, which was promoted back to the Championship from third-tier League One for this season, sitting in 22nd — out of 24 teams — in the standings and Portsmouth in 14th.

New OCPS E-Bike and E-Scooter Rules Take Effect Tuesday

0

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A new Orange County Public Schools policy restricting e-bikes and e-scooters on campus begins Tuesday, bringing an end to the grace period that had temporarily allowed students to keep using them at school.

The rule limits e-bike and e-scooter access on school property to students who have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit.

Orange County School Board members approved the policy change in July following hours of public comment from parents and students who voiced strong opinions on both sides of the debate.

Supporters of continued access said e-bikes are a vital way for some students to get to class. Those calling for tighter rules raised safety concerns tied to rider age, speed and how some students operate the devices.

The push for added safety measures also included an emotional appeal from the mother of Colton Remsburg, a 13-year-old Innovation Middle School student who was struck and killed while riding his e-bike in May.

Orange County Public Schools said it documented 41 e-bike-related incidents from December through May.

Parents interviewed over the weekend expressed mixed reactions to the new restrictions but said safety remains a major concern.

Sarah Rossmann, who was riding her bicycle in Baldwin Park on Saturday, said she supports increased safety rules for students using e-bikes.

“I think kids are too young to be on motorized bicycles,” Rossmann said.

Parent Gabriel Pinero said his 11-year-old son does not have an e-bike and currently rides a traditional scooter.

Pinero said he believes his son may be old enough for an e-bike in a couple of years but is concerned about the behavior he sees from some young riders.

With enforcement of the new policy beginning Tuesday, Orange County Public Schools will begin requiring students to meet the license or learner’s permit requirement before bringing e-bikes or e-scooters onto school property.

Former Child Stars Who Called Out Hollywood’s Toxic Culture

The unexpected death of Hayden Panettiere on August 16, 2026, at age 36 prompted a wave of reflection from former child actors who knew firsthand the pressures of growing up in Hollywood. Panettiere, a former child star, became a familiar face in the late 1990s and early 2000s through beloved Disney-era projects including “Remember the Titans,” “A Bug’s Life,” and “Ice Princess.” But her time in front of cameras began long before fame arrived. Her mother booked her first commercial work when she was just 11 months old, and by age 4, Panettiere was appearing on soap operas such as “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light.” As she moved through childhood and adolescence, she built a steady screen career, later becoming closely associated with teen-centered films like “Bring It On: All or Nothing.”

While many young performers step away from acting once adulthood begins, Panettiere remained a major presence in the entertainment industry. She took on one of her most prominent roles as Juliette Barnes in ABC’s hit musical drama “Nashville,” a part that also allowed her to highlight her singing talent. Over time, the show became closely linked to Panettiere’s own life, weaving themes of fame, emotional turmoil, addiction, and postpartum depression into her character’s storyline after the actor welcomed her only daughter during the series’ run.

In the months before her death, Hayden Panettiere released her 2026 memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” and opened up in interviews about how painful her “Nashville” role had become because it mirrored so many of her real struggles. In the wake of her passing, conversations about Hollywood’s treatment of child actors intensified, with former young stars criticizing an industry they say has long benefited from children without adequately protecting them. From Disney Channel alumni to performers who came up in the 1970s, several actors used the moment to call attention to the lasting cost of childhood fame.

Christy Carlson Romano compared childhood fame to CTE

Christy Carlson Romano, best known to Disney Channel fans for “Even Stevens” and “Kim Possible,” delivered one of the most forceful responses. In an August 18, 2026, op-ed for Elle, Romano reflected on Panettiere’s death and the broader system she believes fails young performers. “The former child actor exists in a category the world does not know how to hold,” Romano wrote. “We are children when the public wants to feel protective of us, professionals when the industry wants to profit from us, and spoiled celebrities when we eventually show symptoms of having been both.”

Romano went further, describing the impact of early fame in stark terms. “Early fame is like CTE,” she wrote, likening the psychological toll on child stars to chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the degenerative brain condition associated with repeated head trauma in athletes. She argued that while youth sports now have a vocabulary around safety — including helmets, protocols, and concussion awareness — the entertainment business still lacks meaningful safeguards for children exposed to pressure, rejection, public judgment, and the loss of privacy. “We put youth athletes in helmets and pads,” Romano wrote, before asking, “Why can’t we pad the children paid to make the world smile?”

As one of the child stars from the 2000s who are now parents, Romano called out adults in the industry who fail to take accountability for the mental health and wellbeing of child actors, forcing misdirected blame and scrutiny onto the stars. “Responsibility gets passed around. Stage parents blame producers, producers blame parents, networks blame culture, and culture then blames the child when the child becomes an adult in pain,” she wrote. “By then, the young performer is no longer cute enough to protect. They are a cautionary tale. A headline.”

Alexa PenaVega spoke out about Hayden’s passing

Alexa PenaVega rose to fame as a child actor after starring in “Spy Kids,” which was released during the same time period Hayden Panettiere was starring in Disney Channel movies. The close proximity of their careers as children made Panettiere’s passing hit close to home, inspiring PenaVega to speak out about the struggles many child actors face. In her tribute, she called out the industry for not only failing the “Nashville” star but also former child stars Michelle Trachtenberg and Daveigh Chase. Just two months before Panettiere’s passing, “Lilo & Stitch” star Chase died from AIDS complications on June 16, 2026, at the age of 35 after struggling with chronic polysubstance use. Panettiere’s “Ice Princess” co-star Michelle Trachtenberg also passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 39. Many of Trachtenberg’s former co-stars reacted to her untimely death, sharing sentiments similar to those who reacted to the passing of Panettiere.

In an August 17, 2026, Instagram post, PenaVega opened up about the emotional toll of losing her peers and child stars Panettiere, Trachtenberg, and Chase too soon. “These aren’t just names from my childhood. They’re girls I grew up alongside, sharing a world that was exciting and also incredibly hard,” PenaVega wrote in the Instagram post. “We were kids navigating something so big, and not everyone had the foundation or support they deserved. Today, I’m grieving and holding their families close in my prayers and thinking of everyone still fighting battles we can’t see. Hug your people close today.”

Anna Paquin wants stronger protections for child actors

Anna Paquin knows what it is like to grow up on set. At just 11 years old, she won her first Oscar for her supporting role as Flora McGrath in “The Piano” in 1994. She went on to appear in several movies as a child, including “Jane Eyre” and “She’s All That.” She was only 17 years old when she began her iconic role in the “X-Men” franchise as Rogue. While she has had a successful acting career as an adult, she knows how hard the industry can be on child actors. On August 21, 2026, Paquin took her feelings public in an Instagram post after a few days to process the news of peer Hayden Panettiere’s passing.

“It’s not a coincidence that so many former, specifically pre-sexualized female, child ‘stars’ have profoundly sad lives and untimely ends. We were not as protected by the ‘systems’ that look great on paper, as we are supposed to be. RIP HP, MT, DC and too many others,” Paquin wrote on her Instagram post, referring to Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Daveigh Chase. “It’s a strange small club we belong to and you are worthy of support no matter how our industry made us feel.”

The next day, on August 22, 2026, she returned to Instagram to share additional insight into production sets that successfully protect child actors. Paquin explained how the industry has changed since she was a child star and shared her experiences of working on productions that prioritized the well-being of young performers. “It is possible to holistically look after the kids on set and tell complex and sometimes upsetting stories,” she wrote. “It just has to be the top priority of the production.”

Melissa Gilbert called on other former child stars to push for change

Melissa Gilbert rose to fame as a young child in the ’70s as her star character, Laura Ingalls, on the smash-hit TV series “Little House on the Prairie.” While she was a child actor decades before Hayden Panettiere and did not personally know her, Gilbert had strong feelings and opinions about her death. After the passing of Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Daveigh Chase so close together, Gilbert penned an emotional Substack where she candidly expressed her frustration and disappointment in the entertainment industry and its treatment of child actors.

“Three former female child actors of the same generation are gone. Tragically, heartbreakingly, agonizingly too soon,” Gilbert wrote. “I did not know Hayden personally and only worked briefly with Mishy and Daveigh. It feels personal because I was them. … When one of us dies, it runs through all of us like an electrical current. When three of us die so close together, something is very, very wrong,” she added.

Gilbert called on several former child stars, including Drew Barrymore, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Reese Witherspoon, to create positive change and uplift both former and current child actors. “Maybe we start a group of our own to meet and share ideas and ways we might be able [to] lobby to support these young women. Maybe we sit down with the heads of the studios and networks and have real conversations about mitigating exploitation. … I think if we collectively had the opportunity to sit down with these ‘bosses’ we might be able to work with them to Lobby for and enact real, substantive change.”

Grandma Left Infant in 96-Degree Hot Car, Sheriff Says

Inset: Dedra McManus (Union County Sheriff’s Office). Background: Union County Animal Services in Monroe, N.C. (Union County Animal Services).

A North Carolina grandmother is facing criminal charges after authorities say she left her 8-month-old granddaughter alone inside a parked car with the engine turned off during sweltering summer weather while she went to look at free kittens.

Dedra McManus, 50, has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse, the Union County Sheriff’s Office said.

The alleged incident unfolded on Sept. 3 outside Union County Animal Services in Monroe, North Carolina, a city located about 25 miles southeast of Charlotte, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Investigators said McManus had gone to the county facility with friends to check out kittens that were available for adoption when the child was left in the vehicle.

What’s more, authorities say McManus left the child in the car parked “between two fully marked Union County Sheriff’s Office vehicles.”

The defendant allegedly tried to rectify the situation at one point.

“When McManus saw three deputies approaching the adoption area, she ran back to her vehicle so quickly she dropped her Apple Watch in the process,” the press release reads. “McManus then returned inside the building carrying the baby.”

But that alleged attempt apparently came too late.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage on the spot and determined the little girl had been left alone inside the purportedly hot car “for approximately 10 minutes on a 96-degree day.”

Deputies then placed McManus under arrest. Meanwhile, paramedics determined the infant “appeared to be okay,” the sheriff’s office said. The child was then placed in the custody of welfare agents.

As the incident concluded, however, the defendant inquired about the baby cats inside the Animal Services building.

“Even after her arrest, McManus asked about receiving free kittens because she had missed the Clear the Shelter event held in August,” the press release goes on. “We quickly declined her request and transported her to the Detention Center.”

On Friday, the defendant posted $3,000 bond and was released.

The post Grandma left infant in hot car parked between 2 patrol cars on 96-degree day and then ‘asked about receiving free kittens’ after her arrest, sheriff’s office says first appeared on Law & Crime.

Fighter Jet Crashes During Air Show, Killing Two Pilots as Spectators Watch

A weekend air show near Athens ended in tragedy Saturday after a Greek air force jet crashed in front of thousands of spectators.

The accident at Tanagra Air Force Base killed both pilots aboard the aircraft, though officials said no civilians were injured.

The two-seat Hellenic Air Force F-4 Phantom went down during a low-altitude maneuver, striking the ground just meters above the runway area.

“The sense of grief is widespread, and our thoughts are with the families of the two pilots we lost,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said. “It is a reminder of the daily danger faced by Greece’s aviators, who remain on constant standby to protect Greece’s skies.”

The jet burst into flames on impact, sending up a large plume of black smoke, prompting 11 water-dropping planes and helicopters to assist 85 firefighters in extinguishing the blaze.

Video of the crash showed a second ball of fire nearby as the plane broke apart.

The bodies of the pilots were eventually recovered.

“We were all stunned. It hadn’t been airborne for more than three minutes,” an eyewitness told ERT, Greece’s state-owned broadcaster.

The crash happened during the country’s annual Athens Flying Week.

The organizers canceled the rest of the events following the incident and the area was evacuated.

“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of the two officers of the Hellenic Air Force, who lost their lives in the tragic accident that occurred during the air show at Tanagra Air Base,” Cyprus’ Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas said, adding that he had called Nikos Dendias, Greece’s Minister of National Defense.

The air force has declared three days of mourning in the country.

In May, two jets collided during an air show in Idaho, but the pilots were able to safely eject.

Seattle Mayor’s Texts Reveal Turmoil After Mass Shooting

0

Text messages from Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and members of her staff have exposed deep turmoil inside City Hall, revealing tensions between the mayor’s office and other government agencies in the aftermath of a deadly mass shooting.

Wilson, a 44-year-old Democratic Socialist, and her team appeared to unravel in the hours after three people were killed at Seattle Center in July, according to messages obtained by KIRO 7 .

The texts show Wilson, who is now facing calls from some locals to be removed from office, and her staff discussing the administration’s slow response, concerns over media coverage, and confusion over how key information was communicated to the public.

In one blunt exchange, a staffer described the fallout as a “massive f**king disaster” and said the episode had dealt a serious “hit to public trust,” as residents criticized the mayor’s handling of the crisis.

The messages also allegedly indicated that Wilson was deeply concerned about how the press would portray her, even as the city was reeling from the violence and suspects remained at large.

‘Matt says that KOMO is broadcasting that I and city council are expected to be there,’ she allegedly wrote.

‘We should consider whether I should come down to talk to KOMO, if that expectation has been created,’ Wilson allegedly said. ‘I’m sure they would love to spin an “absent mayor” story.’

Staffers also went back and forth on the timing of Wilson’s statement, debating whether or not they should wait for the police department to update residents first, according to the texts.

‘It’s f**king embarrassing that SPD [Seattle Police Department] has waited HOURS to put anything out,’ then-Interim Press Secretary Jonah Spangenthal-Lee wrote in a group chat.

Interim Communications Director for the Mayor’s Office, Dawn Schellenberg, replied: ‘Well, we’re not!’

‘It’s good for her to take the lead in acknowledging those impacts and letting everyone know we’ll share more as we learn it,’ Public Safety Advisor Alison Holcomb texted.

‘The mayor’s statement is general and focused on family and community impacts.’

Wilson’s statement at the time incorrectly said there were two suspects in custody, when there was only one.

She was the first person among Seattle’s leadership to release a statement.

Deputy Mayor Brian Surratt caught the mistake, telling staff to ‘please revise.’

Schellenberg and Spangenthal-Lee later discussed the mistake, the latter replied: ‘S**t happens… I’m not really worried about it.’

Her team also discussed in the texts how safe it would be for Wilson to attend the press conference. Initially, she was advised not to go as the suspects were still not in custody.

Wilson did attend the massively delayed press conference around 11pm, but not before her office put out erroneous information about the number of suspects.

The mayor’s office was told more than three hours before leaders addressed the public that the Seattle Center had been ‘contained.’

Governor Bob Ferguson and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal also arrived at the press conference before Wilson, internal data showed, the outlet reported. The press had been told the hold was due to waiting for ‘dignitaries’ to arrive.

Wilson found out about the shooting almost immediately after it occurred around 6pm on July 27.

Only one suspect has been detained, but police told KIRO 7 that they were ‘closing in’ on two more.

Two weapons were also recovered from the scene, leading authorities to believe the two suspects were shooting at each other.

The unearthed text messages come after locals filed paperwork to have Wilson fired as mayor last month.

Local couple Melinda Jacobson and Dale Osterud filed a recall charge, blasting her for being ‘derelict in her duties for public safety of the city of Seattle.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to the mayor’s office for comment.

Bartiromo Accused of Leaking Internal Messages to White House

0

Maria Bartiromo reportedly shared sensitive internal information about Fox News in the weeks leading up to her sudden exit on Thursday.

According to Oliver Darcy of Status, the prominent news anchor allegedly told White House officials that President Donald Trump’s July primetime remarks about the 2020 election drew limited attention on Fox News because executives had circulated guidance instructing journalists not to lend credibility to his claims.

Bartiromo is also said to have forwarded White House staff the text message she received from Fox Business leadership, a move that reportedly breached the terms of her employment agreement.

Fox News executives later discovered what had happened after receiving a call from the White House, and Bartiromo was taken off the air on August 9, Puck News reported.

Fox Business Cuts Ties with Maria Bartiromo After Controversies

The Fox Business host had already drawn scrutiny for the network after questioning Dominion Voting Systems’ technology and procedures in the aftermath of Trump’s 2020 election defeat. Dominion later sued Fox News over the claims, and the network agreed to pay a $787.5 million settlement in 2023.

At the time she sent the White House the guidance, Bartiromo was also reportedly seeking to pursue a new story related to China and the 2020 election and Trump’s claims of Chinese interference, according to Puck.

Her final show aired on Fox Business on Thursday morning when Cheryl Casone stood in for the host.

Bartiromo’s Fox Business show will now be hosted by a rotating cast of anchors and will be renamed Mornings With Fox Business.

Her other Fox Business show, Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, will have her name stripped from it as well, the company said.

‘We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,’ a spokesperson for the network said in a press release on Thursday.

Legal Troubles and $70M Earnings Highlight Bartiromo’s Exit

When asked about the reports suggesting she was ousted after she revealed Fox News’ guidance about Trump’s claims, a spokesperson simply told Status it was a ‘business decision and the release speaks for itself.’

The Daily Mail has also reached out to Fox News and the White House for comment.

But court documents from the 2025 defamation lawsuit against Fox revealed she took in an eyewatering $70 million since joining the network from CNBC in 2014. She joined the latter in 1993 after being hired by then-CNBC President and future Fox exec Roger Ailes.

Ailes resigned from Fox in 2016, after former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson accused him of sexual harassment. Bartiromo became a regular target of criticism around that time, due to her kind coverage of Donald Trump.

Such coverage was vital to the defamation claims made by Dominion Voting Systems, in a different lawsuit that Fox News ended up settling for $787.5 million.

In another lawsuit, filed by Smartmatic, Bartiromo was named as a defendant – the only one still working at the network as of Thursday.

Network Host Faces Heat Over 2020 Election Coverage

Bartiromo allowed false claims about the 2020 presidential election to air in an effort to keep viewers, the lawsuit claimed.

During a broadcast that aired in December 2020, she outright said that an ‘intel source’ told her ‘President Trump did in fact win the election.’

Her lawyers, though, fought back arguing that the lawsuit ‘acknowledges that Bartiromo pressed the President’s lawyers for evidence, repeatedly reminded viewers that the President’s lawyers needed to back up their claims with proof and interviewed guests who were skeptical or dismissive of the claims the President and his legal team were pressing,’ according to Deadline.

They also argued that Smartmatic failed to allege in the lawsuit that Bartiromo engaged in actual malice, which is necessary in proving defamation.

The case is still pending as Smartmatic seeks a trial.

Trump Laments Exit of ‘True Warrior’ Host Amid Press Secretary Rumors

Meanwhile, in June, Bartiromo welcomed a fiery rant from White House trade adviser Peter Navarro that credited former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) head Anthony Fauci with creating the coronavirus.

President Trump has since lamented her departure from the network.

‘I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on Fox News/Business,’ he posted on his Truth Social page Thursday night, saying she had ‘three different shows’ that were ‘always number one.’

‘Maria is a total professional and a true warrior,’ the president continued.

‘Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy.’

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance downplayed rumors that she was in line to replace Karoline Leavitt as the next White House press secretary.

‘I don’t know, man,’ he told a reporter who asked with a laugh. ‘No, I don’t think so.’

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham Share PDA at Venice Premiere

0

Nicola Peltz shared a tender red carpet moment with husband Brooklyn Beckham at the 83rd Venice Film Festival, with the couple arriving hand in hand shortly after the actress was honored with the Rising Star Award.

The 31-year-old star turned heads in a vivid cobalt blue Balenciaga couture gown, posing for photographers beside Brooklyn, 27, during the festival screening of It Will Happen Tonight.

After stepping onstage earlier to collect her award, Nicola made another standout appearance as she swept along the Venice Film Festival red carpet in the dramatic design, complete with a veil-like detail and an elegant trailing train.

The gown’s one-shoulder silhouette and bold cut-out accents highlighted her toned frame, while Nicola kept the rest of her styling understated, allowing the couture look to remain the focus.

Brooklyn, meanwhile, looked polished in a classic black tuxedo, smiling proudly as he stood beside his wife for the cameras.

Proving just how proud he was of his love, he planted a sweet kiss on her cheek while protectively wrapping his arm around her waist.

At one point, the former photography student came to Nicola’s rescue as he helped to fix her train, with Brooklyn showing his unwavering support throughout their red carpet appearance.

The loved-up pair’s latest outing comes hours after Nicola accepted her Rising Star award at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, with husband Brooklyn clasping her tightly by the arm and guiding her with care onto the small podium in the gardens of the Casa Cinema Giovani.

A visibly nervous Nicola wore stunning emerald and diamond drop earrings and an elegant full-length black dress for her moment in the spotlight, and paid tribute to her husband and family who she said ‘are the reason that I can reach to the stars’.

Her proud billionaire father, business leader Nelson Peltz, mother Claudia and brother Bradley were there to watch her, with Nelson fanning himself in the 30-degree heat and at times during the wait retreating inside.

She said: ‘Hi everyone. I am normally more comfortable playing a character as an actor than standing in front of an audience, so please bear with me.

‘Thank you so much for this immense honour. To receive an award at the Venice Film Festival is something I will carry with me for the rest of my career.’

She then addressed her co-star in the film Prima, Faye Dunaway, who was given a lifetime achievement by the Kineo organisation at the same ceremony. ‘Faye you have always been an inspiration to me and learning with you has been incredible.’

She went on: ‘My family are my everything. My mum, dad, (brothers) Diesel and Brad and Brooklyn thank you. You always believe in me. To have your support is the reason I can reach to the stars in the first place.’

There was some chaos before she took to the stage, with her award being announced five times, and one presenter saying: ‘Where is our beautiful star?’

Eventually they were told that she didn’t want to accept the award until Faye Dunaway, 85, was also in place.

Accepting her lifetime achievement award Ms Dunaway said that the best advice she had was the Shakespearean line: ‘To thine own self be true’ and added that she loves Venice. ‘There is no city like it.’

Nicola started in acting in Deck the Halls with Danny DeVito, in 2006, aged 11 and posted a throwback snap on her Instagram earlier this week.

She also appeared in The Last Airbender and Transformers: The Age of Extinction.

More recently she has been writing and producing films through her label, Bunny Films, which is named after her late grandmother and bankrolled partly by her billionaire father, Nelson.

Her last movie was Lola, which did not gain wide distribution and took under $1,000 at the box office.

She has been married since April 2022 to Brooklyn Beckham, the son of David and Victoria, and is at the centre of a family feud which has seen her husband cut off his family in search of ‘peace’, having explained on Instagram in January that they had tried to split him up from his wife.

Nicola has been working on her indie drama Prima since January but the film does not yet have an official release date.

The movie also stars Dunaway, Jack Huston, Mira Sorvino and Betty Gabriel. Luca and Alessandro Morelli, known professionally as the Morelli Brothers, directed the film as their feature debut.

Nicola stars as Margo, a dedicated prima ballerina facing life-altering decisions as modern changes disrupt her ballet company.

The actress and her family attended a private Los Angeles screening in May for the movie, hosted by East West Bank CEO Dominic Ng. Afterwards she thanked supporters and said their backing of independent film meant ‘more than I can express’.

The film has also been in the spotlight after Nicola sparked concern with her drastic weight loss while preparing for her starring role.

Nicola undertook four months of gruelling ballerina training for her role which saw her drop to under 100 pounds (45kg).

Her shock weight loss came in a bid to fully embody her ballerina character – for which she committed to a strict diet and intensive training regimen.

Just this week Nicola’s husband Brooklyn jumped to her defence and warned ‘don’t ever talk about my wife’ in an online row about her weight.

The aspiring chef hit back in the comments section of his latest Instagram cookery tutorial after one follower asked: ‘Do you comment on everyone who is concerned about your wife and how sickly she looks?

‘She puts herself out there, feed her.’

Brooklyn replied: ‘Don’t ever talk about my wife. She’s absolutely beautiful and you should never comment on a woman’s body. It’s disgraceful.’

Jets Week 1 Preview: Familiar Faces in New Places Take Over

0

Week 1 will bring more than a standard Jets-Titans matchup in Nashville. It will also double as a reunion game, with the Jets set to face several familiar names from their own past — and a few former Giants connections as well. New Tennessee head coach Robert Saleh has stocked his roster with players he knows well, while others arrive with ties to Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll from his time with the Giants.

The Post’s Zach Braziller previews the key storylines and matchups to watch when the Jets open the season against the Titans:

Protecting Geno against former Jets

Not long ago, Jermaine Johnson II looked like a foundational piece for the Jets’ defense. The former first-round pick broke through with 7.5 sacks in his second NFL season in 2023, but his trajectory changed quickly after he suffered a torn Achilles just two games into the 2024 campaign. In February, the Jets dealt him to Tennessee in a trade for defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat. Now Johnson, alongside another ex-Jet in John Franklin-Myers, will be aiming to disrupt quarterback Geno Smith in next Sunday’s opener.

That assignment will be far from simple, with the pair expected to test young Jets offensive tackles Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu.

Membou and Fashanu are central to the Jets’ confidence in what they believe can be a sturdy offensive line. Membou, especially, has drawn steady praise throughout the summer after putting together a strong rookie season. Both tackles also bring a measure of familiarity with Johnson, adding another layer of intrigue to one of the opener’s most compelling battles.

Jets against former Giants in the passing game

Two key Titans played for the Giants last season with Daboll: slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson and No. 2 cornerback Cor’Dale Flott. Ironically, Robinson is likely going to see former Titan Jarvis Brownlee Jr. for much of the day. Brownlee, acquired by the Jets last September, figures to be extra motivated.

Brownlee has said he was hurt by the Titans trading him, especially since the front office didn’t explain the move to him. This will be his first time facing his old team.

The 25-year-old Flott had a career-high 11 passes defensed a year ago for the Giants, and inked a three-year, $45 million deal with the Titans. The Jets figure to test the former third-round pick with their two talented wideouts, Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell. Smith is known to push down the field, and the Jets may prefer to target Flott than the Titans’ top cornerback, Alontae Taylor, who is regarded as one of the better young defensive backs in the NFL.

Bailey debuts against underwhelming opposition

Jets rookie edge rusher David Bailey was one of the stories of training camp, the second overall draft pick out of Texas Tech looking every bit as dominant as projected. When the Jets picked Bailey, the hope was he could elevate a pass rush that was 31st in the league a year ago with a paltry 26 sacks. He could have a big opener. Tennessee’s offensive line is considered below average, and offensive tackles JC Latham and Dan Moore Jr. are not highly regarded.

Latham was ranked 47th among tackles in pass blocking by Pro Football Focus, while Moore was 63rd. The Titans allowed 56 sacks last season, sixth-most in the league.

Jets secondary against Ward

Cam Ward had a shaky rookie year. His 5.9 yards per attempt ranked dead last in the NFL. The Titans added pieces for him in Robinson and first-round pick Carnell Tate, the fourth overall selection. The Jets, meanwhile, made history by becoming the first team to not record a single interception a year ago. The topic won’t go away until they produce in that area. They added veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in free agency to solidify the secondary and also drafted Indiana standout cornerback D’Angelo Ponds, although he hasn’t practiced since the first day of training camp due to a calf injury.
