A Florida man is facing charges after reportedly abandoning his 6-year-old stepson outside an apartment while knowing the child’s mother was not present. The 32-year-old, identified as Ricindy Seaphin, allegedly told officials that he was “in a rush” during the incident, which took place shortly after he collected the child from school.

Seaphin was taken into custody on Tuesday evening and is now charged with child neglect without causing great bodily harm, according to police documentation.

The North Miami Police Department responded to a call at 6:42 p.m. from an apartment complex on Memorial Highway, where a young child was reportedly left unattended. Upon investigation, police determined that Seaphin had picked up the boy from school and left him at the complex.

According to the affidavit, the child’s mother had instructed Seaphin to retrieve her son from school, clearly informing him that she wouldn’t be available at home.

Instead of walking the child to the apartment and making sure a responsible adult was there, Seaphin “intentionally dropped the six-year-old victim off in front of the apartment complex and left the location,” police said in the probable cause affidavit.

“The victim then left the apartment complex and walked to the Family Dollar located at 280 NE 135th Street, where he approached unknown individuals and asked for help and for someone to contact the police,” the affidavit states. “A witness located the victim and assisted him back to his apartment. After determining that no one was inside the apartment, the witness remained with the victim, provided him with food and care, and contacted law enforcement.”

Seaphin later arrived at the apartment complex and agreed to speak with officers after being advised of his Miranda rights.

“The defendant admitted that he was in a rush and intentionally dropped the victim off in front of the apartment complex without verifying that anyone was home,” police wrote in the affidavit. “The defendant further admitted that he normally walks the victim to the apartment door and turns him over to his mother but failed to do so on this occasion.”

Police determined that Seaphin dropped the child off at the empty apartment around 3:20 p.m. The witness did not find him until about 4:15 p.m., meaning the 6-year-old was unaccompanied by an adult for roughly 55 minutes.

Following the interview, officers arrested Seaphin and took him to the North Miami Police Department for processing before transporting him to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He was released after posting bond of $2,500, records show.

Understanding the Lindsay Clancy Verdict: Insights into the Impact of a Successful Insanity Defense

0

Lindsay Clancy could face a complex and uncertain future if a jury determines she is not criminally responsible for the tragic strangulation of her three children. Her potential commitment to a mental institution would be subject to yearly reviews, a process that introduces significant unpredictability regarding the duration of her hospitalization, according to insights from a retired judge.

Clancy is unlikely to receive a “life sentence in a public mental hospital,” as noted by Carol Erskine, a former Massachusetts judge and advocate for child welfare. In a post on X, she elaborated, “While Clancy could potentially remain in a hospital setting for many years, or even indefinitely, this would only continue as long as she meets the legal requirements for civil commitment.”

Erskine stressed that the trial judge plays a pivotal role in this process, a point she later conveyed to News Media.

“The judge’s order is the initial step in this process,” Erskine detailed. “Should the judge issue such an order, it would mandate a 40-day evaluation within a secured facility.”

After that, there would be an evaluation and hearing on whether she should be committed for further.

“If the recommendation is for a civil commitment because there’s likelihood of serious harm under the statute, then there would be a commitment for a period of six months,” she said. “And that would, again, be in a locked unit.”

Beyond that, Clancy would be up for review every year to determine whether there is still a likelihood of serious harm and if she should still be be committed to a mental institution, she said.

“It’s really impossible to say how long she would be committed if she’s committed because it all depends on if she is initially committed [and] these yearly evaluations,” Erskine said.

After the evaluation, the facility’s superintendent could recommend discharge. If there is a petition to discharge, the district attorney’s office and Clancy’s defense attorney can be heard in court.

That’s just one potential outcome as jurors, who began deliberating Thursday, weigh Clancy’s fate.

Clancy is charged with three counts of murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, who was 8 months old. Jurors could find her guilty of first- or second-degree murder, manslaughter, or not criminally responsible via the insanity defense.

Investigators have said that after strangling them with exercise bands, she attempted to kill herself by cutting herself and jumping out a second-floor window. The resulting injuries have left her paralyzed.

But her limited mobility is likely not going to be a factor when she is evaluated for her potential for harm in the future, Erskine said.

“I don’t think it would play a huge role in how they evaluate whether she has a mental illness that creates a likelihood of serious harm because we’re talking about serious harm to herself as well,” she explained.

Prosecutors Present Video Evidence of Josh Jacobs’ Alleged Assault

0

In a recent development involving Green Bay Packers running back, Josh Jacobs, legal troubles have surfaced as he faces charges of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. The charges arise from an alleged altercation with his former girlfriend at his Wisconsin residence. District Attorney David L. Lasee has disclosed that surveillance video supports the statements made by the woman to the officers in the report filed after the incident on May 23.

Identified in the police report as “ANM,” Jacobs’ former girlfriend recounted to law enforcement that during her attempt to leave through the garage door, she was met with confrontation.

According to the report, “Jacobs grabbed her and threw her to the ground, resulting in her head hitting the floor and causing an injury. He then seized her phone as she lay there. ANM remained on the ground for some time before managing to get back into the house,” the document details.

Lasee confirmed the presence of security footage which captures these actions within the garage.

“Footage from the garage’s surveillance system at the Tretni Mar residence, recorded on May 23, 2026, between 8:30 a.m. and 8:38 a.m., verifies key elements of ANM’s account. It shows both ANM and Jacobs leaving and returning to the home in their vehicles, as well as the subsequent interactions inside the garage,” Lasee explained.

“The surveillance video further shows Jacobs took ANM’s phone while she was on the floor of the garage, and approximately 40 seconds later, Jacobs returns to the garage and appears to damage ANM’s phone.”

The video is not public as of Friday.

The alleged altercation began over Jacobs’ ex-girlfriend accusing him of “talking to other girls.”

The woman sustained “a bump on the back of her head” and “described that she was in pain,” officials wrote in the incident report.

Jacobs turned himself in three days after the incident occurred on May 23.

“The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence,” Jacobs’ attorneys said in a statement Thursday. “The allegations will be addressed in court, and not in the media. Mr. Jacobs respects the District Attorney’s office and the process it followed.”

The Packers said in a statement Thursday they are aware of the incident and cooperating with the NFL.

The NFL said it has “been closely monitoring all developments in the matter which remains under review” in a statement following the prosecutors’ decision on Thursday.

Jacobs, who’s been active through training camp and the preseason, could face a steeper punishment from the league if the surveillance footage is released.

Former NFL running back Ray Rice saw the demise of his career when a video of him hitting his then-fiancée Janay Palmer inside of an elevator at an Atlantic City casino was released in 2014.

He initially received a two-game suspension for the domestic violence incident that July — before he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL when the video surfaced in September .

Vin Diesel’s Unusual Dolly Parton Tribute Sparks Buzz

0

Vin Diesel recently found himself at the center of a social media storm after his tribute to Dolly Parton, who passed away at the age of 80 following a private battle with cancer, became the subject of widespread ridicule.

The 59-year-old actor took to Instagram to share an emotional rendition of Parton’s iconic hit “I Will Always Love You.” This heartfelt performance, marked by a trembling voice, quickly captured the internet’s attention.

Originally sung by Parton in 1973, the song reached legendary status when Whitney Houston delivered a powerful version for the 1992 movie “The Bodyguard.” Nearly everyone recognizes this iteration as the definitive cover, overshadowing many others that followed.

Despite the enduring popularity of Parton and Houston’s performances, Diesel’s attempt to honor the beloved country superstar sparked a divided reaction among listeners, illustrating the challenges of stepping into the shoes of music giants.

One commenter on social media emphatically questioned, ‘I THOUGHT THIS WAS A JOKE WHEN I SAW IT ON TWITTER. WHAT IS HE DOING?’ accompanied by a cascade of crying emojis, capturing the bewilderment felt by many.

Others posted: ‘This is really weird,’ and: ‘Haven’t we been through enough?,’ while one went as far as to quip: ‘This cover is actually what killed her.’

The Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Diesel for comment.

‘You have 24 hours to delete this,’ one cracked, as another marveled at the resources poured into the venture, asking: ‘How much did this studio session cost.’

Still another, apparently reeling from the recent deaths of Parton, Tim Curry, Hayden Panettiere and Daveigh Chase, wrote: ‘2026 is taking All my childhood idols.’

Diesel’s post was not without fans, who wrote spirited defenses like: ‘I think this is actually pretty sweet,’ ‘Leave him alone because yall see jlo in concert,’ and: ‘I can’t hate on a dude for expressing his emotions good on ya vin and rest in piece dolly.’

Diesel briefly embarked on a music career during the COVID-19 pandemic, releasing the singles Feel Like I Do and Days Are Gone through Kygo’s label Palm Tree Records.

Parton wrote I Will Always Love You in 1973 about the experience of cutting ties with her former business partner and mentor Porter Wagoner when she set her sights on pursuing a solo career.

The song reached the top spot of the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart twice, first in June 1974 and again in October 1982.

Parton famously refused to let Elvis Presley record his own version after his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, demanded she sign over half of the publishing rights.

‘I wouldn’t let Colonel Tom Parker,’ Parton recalled in an interview with BBC Radio 2 in 2023. ‘See, Elvis loved the song. In fact, I talked to Priscilla not very long ago. She said: “You know, Elvis sang that song to me when we were walking down the courthouse steps when we got divorced.”

Although Parton and Houston's renditions emerged as enduring fan favorites, Diesel's contribution to the catalogue met with a decidedly different response

‘He loved the song, wanted to do it, had it worked up, they’d already called me to come down to the studio to meet him, and to be part and hear the song.

‘And the night before, Colonel Tom Parker calls me and says: “Well, you know we don’t record anything with Elvis unless we have publishing on it, or at least half the publishing.”

‘Well, I said, because I had a number one song on it, I said: “This is the most important copyright in my whole publishing company, and I can’t do that.”

She added that Parker said they couldn’t do that, and the song fell apart, with Parton adding she was, ‘heartbroken’ because she always wanted to hear Presley sing it.

She was vindicated in her determination to retain the rights when Whitney Houston recorded the song for her 1992 film The Bodyguard, whereupon it became an thunderous international hit that carried the soundtrack album to 18 times platinum.

As news spread of Parton’s passing Tuesday, it emerged that she had been privately battling cancer, although the specific strain was left undisclosed.

Parton will be buried beside her husband of over half a century, Carl Dean, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.

The news was confirmed Wednesday by Parton’s nephew Bryan Seaver, who announced the country icon’s death at the age of 80 the previous day, via TMZ.

Seaver, who acted as Parton’s head of security, specified that she will be laid to rest in the same mausoleum that houses her husband’s remains.

Dean died aged 82 of causes that have remained private in March 2025, two months before what would have been his and Parton’s 59th wedding anniversary.

Seaver shared Wednesday that Parton will be interred in a comfortable cotton dress, as well as a pair of the high heels that became part of her trademark look.

Often referred to as the Queen of Country, Parton enjoyed an illustrious music career spanning six decades and was arguably best known for her hits Jolene and 9 to 5.

Her passing came after months of health woes that saw her pull out of a string of public appearances, fueling fan fears for her wellbeing.

In an interview published just four days before her death, Parton had declared she still had ‘so many things I want to achieve’ and vowed to continue ‘working as long as I can to see everything come to life,’ via People.

She explained that she had been grappling with ‘some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl.’

Leah Remini’s Key Condition for Her ‘RHOBH’ Reality TV Comeback

Well before earning her spotlight on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Leah Remini had already been contemplating a return to reality television.

“I would do it again,” Remini, 56, shared exclusively with Us in her June 2025 cover story. “But only if I could include my family and they could authentically be themselves on screen.”

Known for her hilarious role on King of Queens, Remini graced the dance floor in season 17 of Dancing With the Stars back in 2013. She later returned to the popular show as a guest cohost and judge. Remini, alongside her former husband Angelo Pagán, also starred in their own reality series, It’s All Relative, on TLC. The show, featuring their daughter Sofia—now 22—alongside other family members, aired from 2014 to 2015, and was both created and produced by Remini herself.

Beyond lighthearted reality TV, Remini took on more serious subject matter by hosting and executive producing the hard-hitting docuseries Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath on A&E from 2016 to 2019. As an outspoken former member of the Church of Scientology, she has emerged as one of the organization’s loudest critics.

GettyImages-1150848613 Leah Remini Breaks Silence on Joining RHOBH Season 16

After the exciting announcement of joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for its 16th season, Remini shared her thoughts publicly. On Wednesday, August 26, the beloved 56-year-old actress from King of Queens confirmed the news by posting a link to an article about her stepping into the Bravoverse. In the caption, she enthusiastically declared, “It’s true!!” Earlier that same day, Bravo had […]

Earlier this week, Bravo confirmed that Remini will appear on RHOBH season 16, which is currently filming. (The full cast has not been announced but is set to include Million Dollar Listing’s Tracy Tutor in her own Housewives debut.)

Despite being open-minded about a reality TV return, Remini explained to Us last year that she did have some hesitations.

“I haven’t pursued it [again] only because my family’s so great that I would hate to look like I’m selling my family,” she told Us. “But, you know, I have some projects in the works that I want to produce that I want my family in.”

According to Remini, fans frequently told her that they yearned for more episodes of It’s All Relative.

“There’s not one time I tweet something [about] my family show, like, of my mom, that people are [not] like, ‘Why are we not still on the air?’ My family’s so unique,” Remini said. “They’re like every family, and I think that’s what makes them unique. That’s why people love them because they see themselves. They’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, her mom’s just like my mom’ or ‘I have a crazy aunt like her mom.’ We were being our authentic selves, which you don’t see today at all in reality television.”

It’s not known how much of Remini’s personal life will be featured on RHOBH, though Housewives typically film scenes with their significant others, children, parents and siblings.

For Remini, she is very clear about signing on to projects that she wants.

“My career opportunities are basically my own. I don’t say what I want. I say what I don’t want.  I don’t want to work just to work. I want to be on sets that are joyful, that you can make jokes and not have to talk to HR,” she stated in her cover story. “I want to talk to normal people. I want to be around people who are happy to be working on projects that are important but also funny. I want to do it all. When I was younger, I thought I had forever, and now I’m realizing that we’re not promised anything. And so I just kind of want to live my best life in the way that that is for Leah.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 16 does not yet have a premiere date.

Jelly Roll Clarifies Political Stance Following Trump Remarks on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Jelly Roll addressed the curiosity surrounding his political stance following his comedic remarks about President Donald Trump on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” earlier this week.

“Before this week, everyone assumed I was all-in with MAGA, and now they’re pegging me as some sort of liberal snowflake,” the 41-year-old musician remarked on Thursday as he hosted the ABC late-night show.

Recalling his expressed enthusiasm for the president’s UFC Freedom 250 event hosted at the White House last month, the Grammy winner commented, “Watching a fight on TV doesn’t equate to endorsing everything this administration stands for.”

Nevertheless, he clarified, “Being a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel’s program doesn’t align me entirely with Jimmy Kimmel’s political perspectives.”

Jason Bradley DeFord, better known as Jelly Roll, shared, “Sure, I lean left on certain topics, but like many, I strike a balance in the middle. I am a Christian, a country music artist, a farmer, a bow hunter, and I favor getting my food with a stick and a string.”

He continued, “Human dignity isn’t Republican nor Democrat. Compassion isn’t left-wing, and mercy isn’t right-wing. Pain and healing knows no partisanship. Hurting hearts are more important than poll numbers. And there are no boundaries or borders for broken families.”

Jelly Roll went on to share a “hot take” — that he doesn’t regret shaking the politician’s hand in November 2024 and, in fact, is “proud” of the moment.

“Out of respect for [my late friend who served the Marines] and everybody who has ever served and continues to serve this country, I will always shake the hand of the sitting president of the United States when asked,” he shared. “My father would have been disappointed had I done anything other than that.”

The “Save Me” hitmaker added, “I will shake the hand of any president that occupies that office because a handshake is not an endorsement. A conversation is not allegiance. And a joke is not a political point of view.”

“In my business, taking a picture with a political figure, or anybody else for that matter, doesn’t mean you agree or disagree with their policies or politics. More often than not, I f–king don’t.”

Jelly Roll celebrated being able to “make jokes about” Trump, referencing his Monday monologue, in which he dubbed the “Apprentice” alum a “fat pig.”

“Ain’t that what’s great about being an American?” he asked viewers. “The democracy, the freedom of speech.”

Jelly Roll, notably, made headlines in February when he was asked about ICE on the Grammys red carpet and called himself someone “disconnected” from politics.

“People shouldn’t care to hear my opinion,” he said at the awards show. “I’m a dumb redneck. I haven’t watched enough.”

During Wednesday’s monologue, Jelly Roll admitted he “had a microphone and I didn’t use it the right way” at the time.

His most recent comments were an attempt to “try and do the right thing.”

Prince Harry Requests Enhanced Security from Home Secretary Ahead of UK Visit

In a bid to ensure his family’s safety during their upcoming move back to the UK, Prince Harry has reportedly reached out to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood with a private appeal. Concerns over security arrangements seem to be casting a shadow over his much-anticipated return.

Prince Harry has reportedly made a private appeal to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood as uncertainty over his family’s security threatens to overshadow his imminent return to Britain

Prince Harry has reportedly made a private appeal to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood amid concerns about his family’s security overshadowing their return to the UK

At 41, Prince Harry is believed to have taken the initiative to directly contact the Home Secretary. His inquiry seeks to confirm if he, along with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who is 45, and their children, Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, aged five, will be granted police protection once they relocate to Britain. This request was reported by the Daily Telegraph and highlights the family’s concerns over their welfare in their homeland.

The intervention comes after a formal risk assessment was completed by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee’s risk management board at the end of July, but before its findings had been communicated to Harry.

The assessment was completed before Harry confirmed his family intended to move back to Britain, a change expected to require Ravec to reconsider the circumstances surrounding his protection.

Texas Judge Declines Intervention as ICE Officer Charged in Minneapolis Shooting Gains Release

0

An ICE officer charged with a shooting incident in Minnesota earlier this year found himself out of detention in Texas as of Thursday. The release follows a period of being held while legal proceedings unfolded.

On Wednesday, a judge opted not to compel Texas Governor Greg Abbott to extradite the officer back to Minnesota, a move sought by Minnesota officials eager to prosecute the ICE agent as part of the Hennepin County case. This decision granted Castro continued freedom in Texas.

Christian Castro, the officer at the heart of the controversy, was freed at 6:59 a.m., according to Cameron County Sheriff Manuel Trevino, who shared the information via email with media outlets on Thursday.

In a May announcement, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty disclosed that Castro faces charges of four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime, intensifying the legal stakes for the ICE agent.

“Mr. Castro fired his service weapon at the front door of a home knowing there were people who had just run inside that presented absolutely no harm to him or anyone else,” Moriarty asserted, saying the bullet hit Julio Sosa-Celis in the leg and eventually lodged “in the wall of a child’s bedroom.”

Castro was arrested in Texas, and Minnesota has been pressing for Texas to extradite him from the Lone Star State.

U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez, Jr.’s Wednesday order denying a temporary restraining order declared, “In May, the State of Minnesota charged Castro with various crimes based on that incident. By the time these charges arose, however, Castro was no longer in Minnesota, leading a county judge to issue a nationwide warrant for his arrest. When authorities in the State of Texas arrested Castro in late May, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz initiated the process under the Extradition Act of 1793 and the Uniform Criminal Extradition Act to secure Castro’s extradition to Minnesota.”

“Under the UCEA, Castro can be detained on the strength of the Minnesota warrant only until August 27, 2026. As the day approached, and fearing that Castro will flee into Mexico should he be released, Minnesota made repeated inquiries of Texas regarding the status of the extradition request. On August 18, having not received a definitive answer, Minnesota filed this action, alleging that Governor Abbott ‘has refused’ to sign a rendition warrant, violating the Extradition Clause of the United States Constitution, the Extradition Act, and the UCEA,” the order stated.

“Minnesota moves for a temporary restraining order to avoid Castro’s release before Governor Abbott signs a rendition warrant. On August 25, the Court held a hearing on the request. Based on the record and the applicable law, the Court concludes that Minnesota fails to satisfy the requirements for the issuance of a temporary restraining order,” the judge’s order noted.
