The Princess of Wales put on a hard hat and high-visibility gilet as she returned to the Suffolk children’s hospice where she delivered her first public speech after marrying Prince William.

Kate, who attended a glittering state banquet with the King and Queen on Tuesday evening wearing a dazzling tiara, embraced a very different look this morning while touring construction work at The Treehouse in Ipswich.

The future queen, 44, officially opened the “inspirational” charity facility in 2012 as patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, while Prince William was serving in the Falklands as an RAF search and rescue pilot.

Fourteen years on, Kate revisited The Treehouse as it undergoes a multi-million-pound expansion designed to meet growing demand for its services.

Despite the practical safety gear, the Princess of Wales maintained a polished appearance in head-to-toe Victoria Beckham, wearing a £1,325 khaki power suit from the designer’s label.

The ensemble comprised the £850 Katherine jacket, £475 matching trousers and a £520 black lambswool polo neck. Kate completed the outfit with a £290 burgundy belt featuring a gold buckle.

During the visit, the Princess learned more about the life-changing care, compassion and connection offered to children living with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Kate was also introduced to 12-year-old Charlotte Freegard, who has received support from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, known as EACH, since 2021.

Charlotte has Nemaline myopathy, a rare muscle disorder that causes weakness throughout the body, particularly affecting the face, neck and limbs.

EACH chief executive Kevin Clements has described the £6.3 million expansion as “one of the most important building projects” currently taking place in Suffolk. He stressed that the scheme represents far more than a construction project.

“It’s about making sure every family who needs us feels seen, supported and can access our care – wherever they live and whatever their background,” he said.

During her first visit to the hospice in 2012, Kate planted a tree and said: “Today I have seen again that The Treehouse is all about family and fun. For many, this is a home from home – a lifeline enabling families to live as normally as possible during a very precious period of time.”

She added: “What you do is inspirational. It is a shining example of the support and care delivered not just here, but throughout the children’s hospice movement up and down the country.”

“The feelings you inspire – feelings of love and hope – offer families the chance to live a life they never thought could be possible,” Kate said, prompting loud cheers from the crowd.

The Treehouse currently includes five children’s bedrooms, along with accommodation where families can stay overnight.

The hospice provides a range of therapeutic services – from a sensory garden and music studio to a hydrotherapy pool – to ensure the best quality of life for the babies, children and young people receiving care at The Treehouse.

The expansion plans include a new hydrotherapy pool, wellbeing and therapies suite, a larger care activity area, an additional children’s bedroom and expanded kitchen and dining facilities. 

Mr Clements previously said ‘more space is desperately needed’ at The Treehouse so that it can continue to provide world-class care to the children and families that rely on the facility. 

‘This project will enable us to provide more space for group activities, wellbeing activities, bereavement support,’ the EACH chief executive told the BBC. 

‘It provides more privacy for families when we are managing end-of-life care for babies, children and young people.’

Construction work is expected to be completed by early 2028 after planning permission was granted last November. 

The princess will today learn how EACH is fundraising for the expansion while continuing to provide vital day-to-day care and support for families. 

The charity has confirmed £4million of the funding has already been secured and that it has until October 2027 to raise the balance.  

Kate will also meet some of these children and families to learn how the complementary creative therapies they receive have enhanced their emotional and social wellbeing. 

It was announced that Kate would become patron of the Treehouse in January 2012 after researching a selection of charities. 

Her mother-in-law, Princess Diana, opened Each’s first hospice in Milton, Cambridgeshire, in 1989.  

Kate’s engagement in Ipswich comes days after she joined the King, Queen and Prince William at a glittering state banquet for the  Sultan of Oman – on the same day that Prince Harry insisted he wanted to reconcile with his family. 

The monarch was accompanied by William and Kate, Queen Camilla, the Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester as they hosted Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said and his retinue in St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle.

Kate wore an ethereal pale yellow Elie Saab gown with a cape detail and train, which she paired with her favourite Lover’s Knot tiara, diamond earrings and a bracelet belonging to the late Queen Elizabeth. 

William was dressed for the occasion in a white tie with the Windsor tail coat, his Most Noble Order of the Garter Sash with the Lesser George and other medals and decorations.

On the same day, Prince Harry insisted he wants to reconcile with his family after denying he was taking a ‘swipe’ at his brother, William, when he said: ‘Some people don’t want to work it out.’ 

The Duke of Sussex, who has not spoken to William for four years, admitted in an interview with GQ that he is grieving his ‘complicated relationships’ with the King and the Prince of Wales.   

It comes after Kate urged that ‘spending quality time outdoors has never been more important’ in a poignant message to parents.

Kate spoke from the heart about her lifelong initiative to better the lives of young children – urging parents to get youngsters to put down their phones and enjoy the great outdoors.

‘Nature is such an extraordinary environment for us all and, in this tech-driven, digital age, spending quality time outdoors has never been more important,’ the future queen said in a video shared to the couple’s official Instagram.

Kensington Palace also released a new series of portraits of Kate in the countryside taken by Josh Shinner.

The princess looked radiant in her favourite wax jacket, under which she wore a patterned jumper and pie-frill blouse. Her hair was styled in loose waves.

The video was filmed yesterday in Cornwall with the support of the Prince of Wales. Given that he runs The Duchy of Cornwall, Prince William is said to be taking a keen interest in the project.

CHANGE Fitness chief and Milky Lane co-founder Pete Haselhurst has unexpectedly closed a major Gold Coast gym while on bail over allegations including extortion, stalking and drug possession.

The closure comes after three men described as mysterious “debt collectors of Middle Eastern appearance from Sydney” were extradited to Queensland. They are accused of threatening people associated with CHANGE and Haselhurst’s former burger business before demanding money.

Staff at the Broadbeach CHANGE facility arrived for work the following Thursday only to discover they had been locked out and scheduled classes had been cancelled. The business had been closed without warning by Haselhurst and his wife, Emma Jean Pearson.

The abrupt shutdown has fuelled speculation within Gold Coast fitness circles that the gym’s landlord acted over alleged unpaid rent.

Haselhurst was released from prison last month after spending six weeks in custody following his July arrest. He is accused of using men “known to NSW police” to extort former business associates.

Queensland Police confirmed that three men, aged 35, 38 and 45, had been extradited to the Gold Coast.

The trio is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with multiple counts of extortion with intent to obtain a benefit through threats of detriment.

The charges relate to alleged incidents in Mermaid Waters and Currumbin Waters, where unidentified men reportedly claimed to be “debt collectors” and demanded a substantial sum from former business associates.

The alleged targets included former partners in Haselhurst’s burger chain, Milky Lane, who prosecutors claim were terrorised.

The Daily Mail has asked Queensland Police for further comment on the extraditions. At the same time, Haselhurst and Pearson have sought to ease concerns surrounding the Broadbeach gym’s sudden closure.

One client took to Facebook to criticise the decision, writing sarcastically: “So kind of Change Broadbeach to cancel classes… have the doors locked and ZERO communication even when emailed AND messaged on Instagram, with its members happy to charge us our weekly fee last week. SHAME ON YOU.”

An instructor replied that the owners had been “nothing short of supportive, communicating and explaining to members”. Haselhurst and Pearson also emailed clients, describing the shutdown as an “eleventh hour” decision.

“We were presented with an unexpected opportunity that we felt we could not pass up,” they wrote.

According to the email, the premises will be taken over by Brisbane fitness operators Emil Juresic and Giselle Kramer. Their Level X “state-of-the-art gym and luxury wellness empire” is due to expand onto the Gold Coast in December.

Level X confirmed to the Mail that it would be “taking over the space” occupied by the CHANGE gym. However, fitness contractors have raised concerns about whether they will be paid during the expected month-long renovation.

The email reassured CHANGE members: ‘Emma and I will be there, training alongside you. While the transition is emotional for us, we are excited about what it will bring to the community we love.’

Ms Pearson, who previously told the Mail that reports of her partner’s arrest ‘were incorrect’ and later said, ‘I’m not interested,’ is not implicated in the police charges.

Haselhurst is facing eight charges, including three counts of extortion, three of unlawful stalking, one count of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing prescription medicines or hazardous poisons.

The court heard during one of Haselhurst’s bail applications that a couple was confronted at their home in Mermaid Waters at about 10.50am on July 18, with Queensland Police telling the Daily Mail that ‘two unknown men identified themselves as “debt collectors”, demanded a significant amount of money, and made threats’.

The 28-year-old man and the 27-year-old woman ‘were then transported to a café at a nearby shopping centre.

‘[There] they met with a 39-year-old man, who they had previously been involved in a Broadbeach business venture with in 2025. Further threats were allegedly made.’

The court was played a video in which one ‘debt collector’ repeatedly berated the pair, saying ‘Listen here you motherf***er, if you owe this c*** money, you gotta sit with him and sort it out, you understand?’

In another conversation between the complainants and a second debt collector, he said, ‘You robbed him a hundred grand, brother.’ Both debt collectors were ‘physically imposing’.

Then, on a Sunday morning about 8.20am at Currumbin Waters, ‘the same two men attended the house of a 47-year-old man… where they demanded a significant amount of money and made threats’, police said.

The man reportedly refused to leave the house he shared with his partner and their children, who were not home at the time, as the two men demanded money.

The Mail understands that Haselhurst was building CHANGE as an alternative to the once-ubiquitous F45 fitness empire, having run F45 Bondi Beach for six years before departing in 2020.

Haselhurst parted ways with the Milky Lane burger and milkshake chain he co-founded about the same time he left F45. He has also run franchise businesses called Adventure Tours, Lost Paradise, Lost Picnic and The Entrepreneur Degree.

On its website, CHANGE – now rebranded as Change Life Enhanced – promises ‘workouts designed by the world’s best to help you unlock your limitless potential’.

In videos promoting his business – which has afforded Haselhurst a luxury jet-set lifestyle – he plugs a new ‘House of Health’ in Sydney’s Surry Hills as a ‘one-stop’ solution to ‘health, performance, and longevity’.

Haselhurst personally ran the Broadbeach gym, as well as a gym in North Adelaide and a proposed forthcoming Surry Hills branch.

However, three Gold Coast franchises at North Lakes, Sunnybank and Coomera have closed.  

According to one of his websites, Haselhurst created ‘the most successful franchisee in the entire F45 Training network’ in Bondi, which ‘was crowned the number one F45 studio in the world for eight consecutive years’. 

A football club in a normally quiet Oxfordshire town has apologised after videos appeared to show a Magic Mike-style performance at its clubhouse spiralling beyond expectations.

Banbury United FC promotes The Spencer Clubhouse, on the eastern edge of the town and within a short drive of the Cotswolds, as a venue where “dreams come to life”.

The Southern Premier League club’s venue, at the TUGO Community Stadium, typically hosts weddings, birthday celebrations and corporate functions. Its website promises guests nights that are “nothing short of extraordinary”.

However, the clubhouse hosted an adults-only event on Saturday that has drawn criticism from some local residents. Banbury is also a short drive from areas associated with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, while Beyoncé has reportedly been linked to a property in the wider region.

Footage shared online from the UK Pleasure Boys’ “Wet & Wild” tour, which stopped in the “community-focused” town over the weekend, has since spread widely across social media.

The clips appear to show male performers in cowboy hats dancing and stripping on stage before entering the audience, where they allegedly simulated sexual acts with members of the crowd.

The scenes prompted Banbury United, nicknamed the Puritans, to apologise to “everyone who attended the event”. The club said the performance “went beyond what we find acceptable at our venue”.

A source familiar with the event said the footage reflected the atmosphere that can develop at occasional nights out for groups of women. “I’ve worked in hospitality for a long time,” the source said. “Whenever these events happen, the women just go nuts — particularly the mums. If it is your one night out in God knows how long, you are going to need to let off some steam.”

The videos have nevertheless triggered a lively debate among Banbury residents online, particularly because the UK Pleasure Boys had advertised the evening as offering “steamy entertainment”.

One attendee wrote: “I went with the expectation of a Full Monty-style strip show, perhaps with a brief flash at the end — not a porn show.”

“It was Banbury Utd’s clubhouse, not a strip club, and even strip clubs have separate private rooms. There was absolutely no need for it. It didn’t offend me, but it ruined the night, as it was a great laugh until it wasn’t.”

Another commenter took a different view, writing: “If anyone who went was surprised or offended, they really shouldn’t have bought a ticket in the first place.”

A third attendee said: “It was an absolute laugh and we’re booking again next year when they’re back. Some of it was a bit like, ‘Whoa’, but it clearly stated strippers. The lads were absolutely fantastic.”

Another added: “Everyone was over 18, so it shouldn’t be an issue. If some people didn’t like it, they could have walked out. Everyone knows what they’re going to see at these events and are acting as if they don’t.”

One social media user summed up the reaction by writing: “From what I’m hearing and seeing all over social media, it sounds like a strip show turned into a Roman orgy.”

Another simply posted: “Oh dear, Banbury United.”

The UK Pleasure Boys have been touring for several months, according to their Instagram account, and have 14 performances still scheduled. The next show is due to take place in Birmingham this week.

Standard tickets cost £16.50 for the two-hour-45-minute show, while VIP front-row tickets are available for £27.50.

‘This high-energy, cheeky and electrifying male revue features the country’s hottest performers,’ a description reads. 

Yet, in the view of Banbury United, the 18+ show at The Spencer Clubhouse tipped over the edge. 

Their statement, released on Tuesday afternoon, read: ‘We are aware of video clips circulating online from the UK Pleasure Boys’ ‘Wet & Wild’ show held at The Spencer Clubhouse on Saturday, October 17. This was a ticket, 18+ event. 

‘The images suggest that part of the performance towards the end went beyond what we find acceptable at our venue. We apologise to anyone in attendance who was offended. 

‘The venue was booked for that evening by an external promoter as part of a UK-wide tour.

‘We are reviewing what happened and will revise our hire and conduct terms for performance events as a result.’ 

The Daily Mail contacted Banbury United FC for comment.  

Communications Minister Anika Wells has come under fire after a tense interview in which she was challenged over her attempt to frame her travel expenses scandal as a failure of the “pub test”.

Wells appeared on The Daily Aus podcast with editor-in-chief Billi FitzSimons on Thursday, where she addressed the taxpayer-funded travel costs she was ordered to repay.

In May, the Labor frontbencher was directed to repay $10,116.11 to the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority after an audit found she had incorrectly claimed travel expenses.

The total comprised $8,093 in inappropriate travel expenses, along with a 25 per cent penalty worth $2,023.

The audit identified four breaches—one dating to 2022 and three to 2025—most of which involved family-related expenses. They included a claim for her husband’s return flight to the AFL Grand Final.

FitzSimons, the daughter of journalists Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons, asked Wells what she had “changed since it all happened”.

“I think something I’ve learned out of this is that the rules and the pub test are different tests,” Wells said.

“Whilst you might do your best to discharge your duties within the rules, there’s a whole separate question around the pub test.”

FitzSimons immediately challenged that explanation, responding: “The rules were also broken. It wasn’t just the pub test.”

Wells replied: “Well, the rules—I was cleared of any misconduct.”

FitzSimons pushed back, saying: “When you say you were cleared of any misconduct, there was a breach of rules.”

Wells acknowledged that there had been “four mistakes” before offering context about one of the disputed claims.

“I stayed in Canberra and flew my family down a day earlier because I thought that would save the fare of me flying to Brisbane and back,” she said.

“Flying my family a day earlier meant that it sat outside the rules, so I had to repay that trip.”

“That’s what I mean, trying to get a better understanding of what those rules are and having more people in my office understand what those rules are.”

Dozens of viewers responding to the clip called for tougher consequences over the misuse of taxpayer funds.

‘She should have been removed as minister,’ one wrote.

‘She should be fired,’ another said.

‘Only repaid it because she got caught,’ another wrote.

‘By four mistakes, she means four contraventions of the rules that she got caught out on,’ another said.

However, other commenters were more focused on a comment Wells made earlier in the segment.

‘I gave all of my 243 ministerial trips to the independent regulator and they found in there four honest mistakes,’ Wells said in the clip.

Commenters were shocked the four repaid trips alone cost more than $8,000.

‘Repaid four trips, cost $10,000. What have the other 242 trips cost us?’ one wrote, referencing the total Wells was ordered to repay.

‘Four ‘mistakes’ totalling $10,000? Okay,’ another said.

The Daily Mail has contacted Wells’ office for comment.

The United States and Israel have drawn up detailed plans for another round of strikes on Iran after the November 3 midterm elections, according to reports Wednesday, as Washington expands its military presence in the Middle East and shifts forces to prepare for possible Iranian retaliation.

The proposed operation could be a “short, intense” campaign lasting roughly three days and aimed at Iran’s nuclear sites, missile and drone stockpiles, and energy facilities, the New York Times reported, citing U.S. officials and others briefed on the preparations.

Some U.S. military planners believe a focused assault could deepen the damage to Iran’s already weakened economy and push Tehran toward concessions. Others remain doubtful that fresh attacks would resolve the underlying diplomatic impasse.

U.S. and Israeli forces have stepped up joint training, including flights over Iraq designed to rehearse possible attack routes. A major American deployment is expected to be in position by early November.

The buildup is expected to include three U.S. aircraft carriers, thousands of Marines, more fighter jets and special operations personnel. The expanded presence would give President Donald Trump a wider range of military options as tensions with Tehran persist.

Any action would come after Trump’s pledge this month to refrain from launching new U.S. strikes before the November 3 elections. The president has not approved another offensive and could still decide not to proceed.

The reported planning follows an undisclosed visit to Israel on Monday by War Secretary Pete Hegseth. At Ovda Air Base, Hegseth met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the prospect of renewed military action against Iran.

Hegseth later acknowledged the meeting but offered no details about the discussions. He said, however, that U.S. forces were ready to conduct further operations if Trump ordered them.

“We want to make sure that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon. We’re prepared to contribute any way necessary,” Hegseth told reporters Tuesday.

“We’ve done historic devastation to their military capabilities, but if they’re not willing to give it up and the president asks to go even further — we’re prepared,” he added.

Hegseth’s meeting with Netanyahu came one day after Trump endorsed the Israeli prime minister ahead of Israel’s October 27 election. In that endorsement, Trump warned that Washington and Jerusalem would complete their campaign against Iran unless Tehran quickly altered its policies.

“Iran has been systematically destroyed, both Militarily and Financially, and unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job,” Trump said in the endorsement.

Trump further cautioned that Netanyahu’s replacement could force the United States to face Iran without its closest regional partner, highlighting the value he placed on the alliance.

The next day, Netanyahu echoed that position in a conversation with Trump. “Donald, you said we have a job to finish, and we’ll finish it together,” he told the president.

“You’re a great warrior, and we’ll prove that very soon,” Trump replied.

Also that day, dozens of Israeli fighter jets and refueling aircraft traveled more than 800 miles over Syrian and Iraqi airspace toward Iran’s western frontier. Officials described the mission as a significant display of Israel’s military reach.

The aircraft turned around before entering Iranian airspace, following a flight path similar to routes used during earlier Israeli operations against Iran.

Israel informed Washington before the exercise, which Israeli officials said was intended to demonstrate military capability and deter Iran.

The maneuver came after Israel proposed a considerably broader offensive—an operation Trump reportedly rejected.

The Financial Times reported that Netanyahu had pushed for a multiday bombing campaign beginning around October 10. The proposed targets included Iranian nuclear installations, power plants, other critical infrastructure and locations linked to the country’s ruling regime.

Israel reportedly supplied Washington with an updated target list based on new intelligence, including facilities not previously attacked, for an operation expected to exceed the intensity of the opening U.S.-Israeli strikes in February.

Trump opposed resuming major hostilities before the midterms, according to the newspaper. Israeli military sources have disputed aspects of the reported preparations.

The plans for a potential post-election offensive come as the Pentagon strengthens its regional forces while reducing the exposure of troops stationed at vulnerable installations.

NBC News reported Wednesday that American personnel have been quietly moved from bases in Jordan, Qatar, and Kuwait as a precaution against possible Iranian retaliation.

Smaller contingents remain at the installations to maintain air defenses and other essential security operations.

U.S. Central Command spokesman Capt. Timothy Hawkins said the military routinely adjusts deployments to maintain readiness but declined to discuss specific movements for operational security reasons.

American diplomatic missions have also taken precautions. The State Department ordered the departure of non-emergency personnel and eligible family members from Saudi Arabia amid attacks by Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthis, while other regional posts have restricted operations.

The heightened readiness comes as Iranian officials threaten retaliation extending well beyond American and Israeli military targets.

Tehran has warned that another offensive could trigger attacks on regional energy infrastructure, including facilities belonging to U.S. allies, as well as data centers and undersea communications cables.

An Iranian security official told state-run Press TV that the regime was prepared for an “all-out, multi-layered, and comprehensive war,” while other officials rejected suggestions that Washington could dictate the duration or limits of another confrontation.

Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, visited Tehran this week in an effort to revive mediation between Washington and the Iranian regime.

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported Tuesday that Munir conveyed an American warning demanding nuclear concessions or risking a large-scale military attack, potentially including strikes against Iran’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain nuclear facility.

The account, based on leaks cited by the Lebanese newspaper, has not been independently confirmed.

Pickaxe Mountain is also among the sites American military planners have considered for possible strikes, according to NBC News, although its deeply buried infrastructure presents significant challenges for conventional bombing operations.

The diplomatic impasse centers on Tehran’s refusal to accept Washington’s nuclear demands.

The United States insists that any agreement eliminate Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon, while Iranian officials are pressing for an end to the war, relief from the American blockade, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz before addressing substantive nuclear concessions.

Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, underscored Tehran’s refusal to relinquish its enriched nuclear material during Munir’s visit.

“Not a single gram of enriched uranium will be removed from Iran,” Rezaei declared Tuesday.

“There will be no negotiations until the United States takes steps to build trust,” he added, demanding that Washington first fulfill Tehran’s conditions.

The standoff comes as Netanyahu openly calls for the overthrow of Iran’s ruling regime.

“The regime in Iran has still not learned its lesson,” Netanyahu declared Wednesday during an Israeli military officers’ graduation ceremony, accusing Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei of continuing his father’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

“There is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: overthrow the regime in Iran,” Netanyahu said. “And that is my directive to the IDF, the Mossad, and the security branches.”

Trump, meanwhile, declared Wednesday that the United States had already devastated Iran’s nuclear capabilities and defeated the regime militarily and financially, while insisting that the campaign’s gains must be made permanent.

“We obliterated Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity with Operation Midnight Hammer, a beautiful operation, and Operation Epic Fury,” Trump said during remarks in South Carolina.

“And we defeated them militarily, financially, and otherwise,” he added. “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”

The president suggested that American forces could withdraw immediately but that Washington was determined to secure a lasting outcome.

“We could leave now, but we want to make sure it lasts for a long time,” Trump said.

A day earlier, Trump had stressed that the damage inflicted on Iran’s nuclear program would be insufficient if Tehran could rebuild it in the years ahead.

“We could leave right now, and we would have done a good job, a great job,” Trump said Tuesday. “But it’s not good enough for me. We have to make sure it doesn’t happen in five years, six years, ten years.”

The president also warned that the conflict would end “one way or the other very quickly,” presenting Tehran with a choice between reaching an agreement and facing further military action.

“We just have to make a final decision,” Trump said. “Which way do we want to win? Do we want to win the nice way or the not nice way?”
