Grieving Community Uneasy as Fear Lingers After New Jersey Mother’s Tragic Murder

0

CHESTER, N.J. – The haunting murder of 35-year-old Brooke Hanlon, who was stabbed in her Chester, New Jersey residence nearly seven weeks ago, has left the community in turmoil. Neighbors living mere steps away from the crime scene remain vigilant, with heightened awareness permeating their daily lives.

“I find myself noticing things that never would have caught my attention before,” a resident confided to News Media on Tuesday, reflecting the neighborhood’s collective unease.

Significantly, a white Volvo SUV, likely owned by Brooke’s husband, Conor, was spotted parked outside their home for more than four hours last week, neighbors noted, before eventually departing.

The sighting marked the first time neighbors had seen the SUV at the Chester home since News Media previously observed what appeared to be the same white Volvo with New Jersey license plates in Boston, just days prior.

Conor Hanlon grew up in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood and has family in the area.

When the vehicle was spotted in the driveway, one neighbor said, “My wife called the non-emergency line.”

“She wasn’t really feeling pretty good about it,” he added.

Without an arrest or any information about a suspect or person of interest on the loose, the neighbor told News Media he’s a gun owner and he’s ready to defend his family should the time come.

A line of trees separates his property from the Hanlon home.

Nearly seven weeks later, investigators have not announced a suspect, identified a person of interest or made an arrest in Brooke Hanlon’s killing. (Kelsie Cairns/News Media)

His concern is shared among his peers.

“Nothing has really been released beyond what came out on the first day. They say there’s no danger to the public, but it’s hard to completely believe that when we don’t know anything else.”

“Even mowing the lawn, if I hear a strange noise, it’s different now. Things that never would’ve bothered me before catch my attention,” he said.

“It’s definitely in the back of my mind.”

While News Media visited the Pottersville Road area in Chester on Tuesday, a law enforcement vehicle was spotted slowing down as it drove past the Hanlon home.

Eric Adams Shares Contacts at Sports Illustrated Event

0

While he may no longer hold the mayor’s office, he’s not missing out on the high-profile party perks.

Former political figure Eric Adams found himself surrounded by a dozen women, including his blonde protégé Alisa Roever, during a glamorous Sports Illustrated affair at Cipriani Wall Street on Saturday night. Sources suggest he didn’t leave empty-handed, pocketing a few phone numbers as the evening unfolded.

According to a video shared with Page Six, Adams seemed to enjoy himself on the dance floor, drawing the attention of several women eager for his company.

“He probably wasn’t aware that people could see his moves. His spot was right near the stage,” mentioned an onlooker. The party, headlined by 50 Cent and Diplo, marked the end of the World Cup series.

The same source noted they had seen him exchanging contacts with two brunettes, not a rare sight for the erstwhile “party mayor.” In fact, Page Six has previously observed Adams swapping digits with fashion models at various events. However, his representative assures that it’s all in good, friendly spirits.

“Eric Adams didn’t earn the nickname ‘the Nightlife Mayor’ by sitting home on Saturday nights,” they quipped.

They further said, “Eric arrived on his own, greeted people, met new faces, and like he’s done for more than 40 years, exchanged phone numbers. That’s called networking.”

Adams is in a long-term relationship with Department of Education staffer Tracey Collins.

We hear jet-setting Adams, who was bizarrely granted Albanian citizenship earlier this year, has some nonparty tricks up his sleeve that he will soon announce. In the meantime, his rep, for some reason, wanted to assure us, “there was absolutely nothing improper” about his evening at Cipriani.

“Eric Adams has always enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life, and Saturday night was no different,” he said.

Harper Beckham, 15, Triumphs with New Beauty Brand Name After Overcoming US Hurdle

0

In a fresh announcement, it has been disclosed that Harper Beckham’s upcoming beauty line will bear the name “Harlo by Harper.” This decision follows a setback when her initial trademark request was turned down in the United States.

At just 15, Harper, the daughter of iconic duo David and Victoria Beckham, is gearing up to make significant waves in the beauty industry with her skincare venture slated for launch next year.

Her line is expected to cater to the youthful and trend-savvy audiences of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, offering products that speak directly to their skincare needs.

Harlo, a name that is both modern and gender-neutral, traces its British roots as a less conventional twist on the classic name Harlow, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the brand.

Though specific product details remain under wraps, industry whispers suggest Harper’s line will feature essential skincare items such as facial washes and creams, poised to captivate her target audience.

A source told The Sun: ‘Harper has been working on a name with the team working on the brand for a while and came up with Harlo By Harper. The trademark applications are signed and sealed.

‘Although there is no set date for a launch yet, the aim is to officially start the roll out at some point next year.

‘Victoria has been guiding and supporting Harper every step of the way in this venture. Both Victoria and David couldn’t be more proud of Harper.’

The Daily Mail have contacted the Beckhams’ representatives for comment.

In May it was revealed that Harper suffered a blow to her business plans as she was denied her first choice naming rights in the US.

Back in October, it was revealed the Beckhams had trademarked the name HIKU BY Harper in the UK, putting the steps in motion for the upcoming beauty line.

However, Brand Beckham suffered a setback after the US Patent and Trademark Office issued an ‘initial refusal’ to the name as it could be confused with existing companies.

The Sun has reported the denial came as ‘Harper’ is registered for brooms and scrubbing brushes, while ‘Hiku’ is trademarked for toiletry and fragrance products.

The Beckhams applied for the trademark in November and now have six months to appeal the initial decision.

They planned for the name to be trademarked on make-up and acne skincare, footwear and clothing, keyrings, stickers, hair decorations and brushes.

Daily Mail contacted the Beckhams’ representative for comment.

No doubt, Harper’s plan to start her own beauty line was inspired by the success of her mother Victoria, who has already built a hugely successful fashion and beauty business worth a reported $100million.

Reflecting on the company’s long, winding path to profitability, Victoria told Harper’s Bazaar ‘it’s a huge accomplishment’.

Victoria, who was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the magazine, added: ‘The company has been through so much over the last 17 years – ups, downs, restructuring… it’s been quite the journey.

‘So finally to be able to say we’re profitable is something I’m so proud of, because it’s not an easy industry, and it’s getting harder and harder,’ she added.

2022’s results marked ‘a turning point where the group became profitable’.

While Harper's final list of products, aimed at Gen Z and Gen Alpha, are being kept under wraps, it's understood the range will include facial washes and creams

While Harper’s final list of products, aimed at Gen Z and Gen Alpha, are being kept under wraps, it’s understood the range will include facial washes and creams

Revenue surged 44 per cent to £58.8million that year compared to £40.9million in 2021.

The success of Victoria’s beauty line, which launched in 2019 and made £2million in its first three months, greatly contributed to the profit.

Products like the ‘Satin Kajal Liner’ are reportedly selling every 30 seconds.

Meanwhile, a 2026 collaboration with Gap helped the brand reach a mass-market audience.

Earlier this year, proud mum Victoria revealed Harper’s ‘really bad’ battle with acne had inspired the teen to launch her very own beauty brand.

Appearing on Emma Grede’s podcast Aspire, Victoria explained: ‘She came to me two or three years ago and she was really struggling with her skin.

‘She used to have beautiful skin, but like all young girls she was enticed by beauty brands and she was putting a lot of product on her face that was not suitable for her skin and consequently ended up going to see a dermatologist because her skin was really, really bad.’

Victoria detailed her own battles with acne and said she could relate to her daughter’s struggles: ‘[Harper] said “I want to create a brand because I know what I want and I don’t want other people to have to go through what I have been through.”‘

The former Spice Girl said the ambitious teen even approached her with PowerPoint presentations in the early stages of getting her beauty line off the ground.

‘One [PowerPoint] about this brand that she wanted to create because she was struggling with her skin’, she added. ‘And the other one was a reason as to why I should let her have a perm’.

Victoria continued: ‘I’m so proud of all my children, but you know Harper is very ambitious, she’s very appropriate but I don’t know what I expected to be honest.

‘I mean, she’s been sitting on my lap taking part in beauty development meetings ever since she was little.’

The business-savvy family have long protected the rights to their children’s names, with Victoria famously registering Harper’s name for use in a range of branded products, including make-up, toys and clothing when she was just five years old.

At the time, an intellectual property expert said it was unprecedented to trademark a child’s name because the move is usually reserved for those who are already celebrities.

Oliver Bray, a partner at international law firm RPC, told the Daily Mail: ‘It normally happens when your career is getting going and a lawyer says, “Let’s get some protection in place.”

‘As opposed to the future-proofing which is what Victoria Beckham has done with her children.

‘It may be a sign of the times with social media and the whole way in which celebrities are exploited.

‘In order to give you more levers to control your image, a trademark is an obvious place to go and it might be that society is driving the Beckhams to use these levers to protect their children in this more manipulative world in which we live.

‘But from another point of view, you could call it savvy and looking to the future.’

Australian Footballer and Former Socceroo Shares Landmark Probable CTE Diagnosis

0

Paul Wade, the iconic former captain of the Socceroos, has bravely announced his diagnosis with probable chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a debilitating brain disease linked to repeated concussions.

In a revealing statement released by Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), Wade detailed his medical journey. The sporting hero, who led Australia’s national team from 1990 to 1996, including during the Olympics and two intense World Cup qualifying events, was diagnosed with probable CTE by a neurologist in late 2025. This came after he experienced neurological issues starting in late 2024.

Notably, Wade’s revelation marks a first in Australian football, as he is the initial player known to have publicly disclosed such a diagnosis.

CTE is known as a slow-progressing, degenerative brain disorder caused by repetitive head injuries. Initially, it was most commonly associated with boxers, but concerns have since spread to football. This issue gained attention when Jeff Astle, a former England striker, was confirmed as the first British footballer to have succumbed to the disease. Recent studies have further solidified the connection between consistently heading the ball and a heightened risk of developing neurodegenerative conditions.

Though definitive CTE diagnoses are usually confirmed posthumously, medical professionals can identify suspected or probable cases through examining an individual’s history of repeated concussions coupled with symptoms like cognitive decline.

Wade says he is sharing his diagnosis to raise awareness of concussion, repeated head impacts and brain health across all levels of football.

“Football gave me so much. It gave me a life, a career, incredible experiences and the privilege of representing Australia. But I also must be honest about the challenges I now face and the uncertainty that comes with living with a neurodegenerative condition,” he says.

Receiving a diagnosis of probable CTE has been difficult. But I have decided to speak publicly because I know there may be other players and families facing similar questions.

“If sharing my experience can help someone seek support, create better education and prevention, or help the game take brain health more seriously, then it is worth doing.

“I do not want to discourage anyone from playing football, as I think there are so many positive health benefits. But we do need to understand more about the long-term effects of repeated head impacts and make sure that players, families and the game have the information and support they need to protect future generations.”

As SBS News has previously reported, football associations in the United Kingdom and United States have introduced laws banning heading for young players, and have also limited the practice among older cohorts due to concerns about the cumulative impacts of heading the ball.

Football Australia, which is responsible for regulating football in the country, has not introduced any similar recommendations.

A spokesperson for Football Australia said it had established an expert project team, which includes chief medical officer Mark Jones and joint head of research and development, professor Rob Duffield, alongside a dedicated concussion research officer, to look at strategies to reduce the incidence, magnitude and burden of heading in youth football, commencing with a comprehensive literature review.

It comes as calls grow for heading to be restricted at younger ages.

The Concussion Legacy Foundation Australia believes children under 14 years old should not be heading the ball at all, and that these skills can be learned later.

Wade’s neurologist, Rowena Mobbs, has recommended a reduction in heading at the junior level, and the removal of all heading for under 12s.

“We want kids entering the great sport of football today to be their brain best both on the field and throughout life. You only get one brain,” Mobbs says.

“Ultimately, it’s about being positive and progressive in football. As a neurologist, I call for a reduction in heading for players, including removing all heading under 12.”

Mobbs commended Wade for talking openly about CTE.

“We want former players to get help as early as possible so they can live well and tackle the effect of CTE on thinking, emotion and behaviour.”

She noted help is available for former players as well as their families and loved ones via ConneCTErs Australia or Dementia Australia.

PFA chief executive Beau Busch said Wade’s decision to share his experience was an important act of leadership.

“Australian football must proactively pursue being Australia’s safest sport. That means proactively tackling the issue of brain injury, through better policies, research, education and support for former players.”

In its statement, the PFA noted it is preparing a comprehensive response to “the growing understanding of and research into concussion and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in football players”.

“The PFA will continue to develop and pursue practical, evidence-based solutions that better protect players while ensuring the game continues to grow and thrive in Australia,” Busch said.

RHOSLC’s Angie and Shawn Quietly Part Ways: Inside Their Separation and Truth Behind Cheating Rumors

REPORT: RHOSLC's Angie Katsanevas Called Off Marriage to Shawn Trujillo Months Ago, Find Out Why the Split Has Been Kept Under Wraps and If There's Truth to Cheating Rumors

Credit: Instagram

New revelations have emerged regarding Angie Katsanevas and her decision to part ways with husband Shawn Trujillo, raising more interest in their relationship dynamics.

The announcement of their separation after a 27-year-long marriage has sent ripples through the media. According to sources, it was the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, now 52, who initiated the breakup with Shawn, aged 53, earlier this year. There’s also insight into why the couple chose to keep their split under wraps initially.

“Angie is the one who called it off,” an insider revealed to The U.S. Sun on July 20. “They have been separated for months, aiming to project a positive image both for their business endeavors and for the show. Despite their efforts, they are unsure how to handle the public fallout from ending a relationship that spanned three decades without seeming dishonest.”

“So that’s why it’s been under wraps,” the source continued. “The decision wasn’t made lightly, and most importantly, they want to protect their daughter [15-year-old Elektra] and their business.”

As for the allegations of cheating, the insider insisted, “There is no merit to any affair.”

They also said that Angie’s decision to leave her marriage was done after careful consideration, and they added that she and Shawn still have “so much love” for one another.

Following the news of Angie and Shawn’s reported split, Angie’s former RHOSLC castmate, Monica Garcia, 43, appeared on the July 20 episode of Carlos King‘s podcast, Reality with The King, where she discussed the potential reason behind the breakup.

“I did hear that Shawn may allegedly feel that Angie K. has changed once she became a Housewife,” Carlos began.

“That’s exactly what I heard, too,” Monica replied. “That she has become … Intolerable? Insufferable? Difficult?… out of touch with reality? All consumed by the show, maybe?”

Monica then signaled claims made by Mary Cosby, 53, on the series.

“She said, ‘You’re letting this sh*t get to your head.’ Mary said it. Mary has been telling her season after season, ‘You’re changing, you’re changing, you’re changing, you’re changing. I don’t recognize you. I don’t know this one. Where’s my old Angie friend?’”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season seven is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime in the coming months.

Burnham Appoints Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary Amid Criticism

0

Allies of President Donald Trump are voicing concerns over the appointment of Ed Miliband as the new British Foreign Secretary by Prime Minister Andy Burnham. This decision is stirring potential friction in the U.S.-U.K. relationship, largely because of Miliband’s past criticisms of Trump and his advocacy for net-zero energy initiatives.

Burnham announced Miliband’s new role on Monday, succeeding Yvette Cooper. This marks a significant comeback for Miliband, who previously led the Labour Party from 2010 until its 2015 election defeat. More recently, he served as the energy security and net-zero secretary under former Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

With his appointment, Miliband steps into Britain’s top diplomatic position, becoming the key counterpart to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This comes as Prime Minister Burnham seeks to maintain strong transatlantic ties. Following his ascension to office, Burnham conversed with Trump, emphasizing the significance of maintaining a robust relationship, as reported by Reuters.

According to The Daily Telegraph, officials from the Trump administration had advised Burnham’s team against granting a senior role to Miliband. Steve Bannon, a former chief strategist in the White House and close political associate of Trump, expressed to the newspaper that Miliband’s appointment is considered “very injurious” to the special U.S.-U.K. relationship. However, Bannon currently does not hold a formal position in the administration, and there’s been no public confirmation from the White House about such warnings being issued.

The London Times separately reported before the appointment that the administration had signaled opposition to Miliband and was even more concerned about the prospect of him becoming foreign secretary. That reporting was not attributed to a named administration official.

Miliband has previously condemned Trump in unusually personal terms.

British Foreign Minister Ed Miliband

During Trump’s first presidential campaign, Miliband described him as a “racist, misogynistic, self-confessed groper.” The comment resurfaced after Trump won the 2024 election, when BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay questioned Miliband about how he would work with the incoming president.

“How are you going to build a relationship with someone you described in the past as a racist, misogynistic, self-confessed groper?” Kay asked during the Nov. 12, 2024, interview.

“I’ve said some things in the past,” Miliband responded. “My job now as a government minister is to work with people.”

The differences extend beyond Miliband’s rhetoric about Trump. As energy secretary, Miliband became the public face of the Labour government’s net-zero agenda and its opposition to issuing new licenses for North Sea oil and gas exploration. Trump and members of his administration have pushed Britain to increase domestic fossil-fuel production.

Nile Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation and a former foreign policy aide to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, told News Media Miliband’s appointment was a “disastrous” decision.

“I think the appointment of Ed Miliband as U.K. foreign secretary is disastrous for Britain,” Gardiner said in an interview Tuesday. “It’s a demonstration of a real lack of strategic thinking on the part of Andy Burnham.

“Ed Miliband is no friend of the United States,” Gardiner continued. “He has been an outspoken critic of President Trump. Miliband is also widely viewed by U.S. conservatives as the architect of the whole net-zero agenda, which is viewed as completely poisonous by the U.S. administration.”

Newsom and Miliband

Gardiner called the appointment a “very high-risk move” that “makes no sense.”

“Burnham is already off to a very bad start with this appointment,” he said. “I’m in no doubt there will be very significant tensions between President Trump and Prime Minister Burnham, and Miliband’s appointment is quite possibly the worst appointment that Burnham could make as foreign secretary.”

As he delivered his first remarks following the appointment, Miliband mentioned his family’s experience as Holocaust survivors.

“It’s the honor of my life, being asked by the prime minister to be the foreign secretary of our country,” Miliband said in a statement Tuesday. “My parents came here, Jewish refugees fleeing from the Nazis and, for them, Britain provided sanctuary and a beacon of hope in the fight against fascism.

“At a time when the values of democracy, the rule of law and freedom are under threat as never before, I will carry that spirit, their spirit, into my work as foreign secretary,” he said. “And now I’m going to go and get on with the task.”

Miliband also pledged to nurture Britain’s “strong, enduring and essential alliance” with the United States while deepening its strategic relationship with the European Union, according to the Financial Times.

His appointment has also raised concerns among some British Jewish and pro-Israel commentators.

Stephen Pollard, a former editor and current columnist for The Jewish Chronicle, argued in an opinion piece published Tuesday that Miliband’s record as Labour leader, including changes to party leadership rules that preceded Jeremy Corbyn’s rise, should concern British Jews and supporters of Israel. Pollard predicted that the Burnham government would pursue additional sanctions against Israel with the support of a Jewish foreign secretary.

The Burnham government had not announced additional sanctions against Israel as of Tuesday.

Conservative Member of Parliament Priti Patel separately criticized Burnham and Miliband over plans to proceed with the Chagos Islands agreement.

“Burnham and Miliband are wrong to press ahead with Labour’s appalling Chagos Surrender,” Patel wrote on X, arguing that the agreement would transfer British territory and cost taxpayers £35 billion (approximately $47 billion.)

“Once again, the same old Labour Party is undermining our national security and making Britain weaker on the international stage,” she added.

On Monday, President Donald Trump said he spoke with Burnham shortly after he took office, calling the conversation “very good.” Trump added that he and Burnham plan to meet in the “not too distant future” to discuss issues of mutual interest.

The White House, State Department, Miliband’s office and Burnham’s office did not immediately respond to News Media’s requests for comment.

U.S. Labor Force Participation Hits New Low: 105.8 Million Americans Out of Workforce

0

A scorching trend known as NILF summer is heating up for the American workforce.

In a stunning development, the number of adults classified as “not in the labor force” (NILF) soared to an unprecedented 105.8 million this June. This landmark statistic comes from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, shedding new light on the labor dynamics in the U.S.

The surge reflects a significant increase, with 832,000 individuals exiting the workforce in June alone. This swell has propelled the NILF count higher than what was observed during the peak of the Great Recession or even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s important to note that the NILF category is expansive, encompassing all Americans aged 16 and up who are not partaking in employment. This includes a wide array of individuals, from retirees to students.

Renowned labor economist Nicholas Eberstadt shared insights with The Post, highlighting an intriguing trend revealed by the data. A closer look uncovers a pronounced pattern of workforce withdrawal, especially among men.

“We’ve got a big problem…with the flight from work of prime-age men. And what’s been carrying the overall prime-age labor force participation has been the strong involvement of women, not men,” said Eberstadt, who holds the Henry Wendt Chair in Political Economy at the American Enterprise Institute.

Some 5.3 million workers — 5% of NILFs — have dropped out because they are discouraged or they’re not even bothering to look for work.

In addition, up to 22% of America’s NILF population are on long-term illness, disability, or other forms of benefits — representing more than 23.3 million Americans.

That startling figure is even higher than the percentage of Americans over 16 in full-time education, which is between 16 and 18%, or just over 19 million Americans.

By far the largest segment of the NILF population is retirees, who make up up to 50% of the total Americans not working. That’s not surprising, given the large cohort of Baby Boomers who are in their golden years.

Some 45% of NILFs are retirees who took standard retirement at the age of 65 or later. About 3-5% retired early.

While the absolute number of NILFs is at a record, the portion of Americans in the labor market hit 59% in June. That’s the lowest since September 2021, as the US emerged from the pandemic.

Before that, the portion of Americans in the labor market only dropped so low after the Great Recession.

Turn on, tune in, and drop out

Another factor for Eberstadt is the increasing number of dropouts — otherwise fit and healthy Americans opting not to work or try to work.

“Very roughly speaking, there are about 7 million of these men who are out of the labor force for the 25-to 54-year-olds,” said Eberstadt, whose 2016 book, “Men Without Work,” discussed the phenomenon of American men in their prime leaving the workforce.

However, the issue isn’t limited to men, he argues.

“There are about 3.5 million women who are kind of like the doppelgangers to this,” he said.

“There’s a growing group of dropout women who are neither working nor looking for work, have no children under the same roof with them, and no husband present.”

An American issue

While some of these factors could be put down to a rapidly aging population, Eberstadt pointed out that other societies that are becoming older aren’t seeing the same patterns of dropouts.

“If you look at what’s going on in Europe and Japan, which are both aging, shrinking societies, their workforce participation rates are going up now. So it’s not as if it’s impossible for aging, shrinking societies to mobilize more or involve more in the workforce,” he said.

“These are the healthiest, best educated Americans that have ever lived on the planet,” Eberstadt said.

He puts America’s growing NILF population down to a sprawling, disconnected archipelago of disability programs, which he argues offer many “blind spots” allowing people to fall through the cracks.

“The extent and the sprawl of participation or dependence upon different disability programs is a blind spot,” he said. “There’s no office in Washington, DC, big as it is, that can tell you how many Americans are receiving benefits from which disability programs and how many in collectivity and how many are receiving from multiple disability programs.”

No to UBI

With AI becoming increasingly integrated into “white-collar” industries, raising fears of mass job cuts, there have been calls to bring in a so-called universal basic income, or UBI — which pays people for merely existing.

However, Eberstadt warns that this would only worsen the number of dropouts in American society.

“Disruptive technologies in the past have been really great for people who have had skills,” he said. “Their productivity and incomes have gone up a lot.

“They’ve also displaced a lot of labor for people who don’t have skills. It looks like we’re going to be on that same track with AI, wherever it goes in the next 18 months or 10 years,” Eberstadt said.

“When Henry Ford came down the road, I don’t think that anybody had any idea what a combustion engine was going to do in mass-produced cars,” he said.

“But I would not like to see a guaranteed income, a UBI. Because I look at how men who are neither working nor looking for work say that they are spending their days now. And it is very depressing to see what they say they are doing. And I wouldn’t like us to be buying more of that,” he said.

“They are not engaged in civil society, not helping out around the house, not getting out of the house. Spending 2,000 hours a year in front of a screen. That’s a great warm-up act for becoming a statistic in deaths of despair,” he said.

Unveiling the Untold Drama: Giuliana Rancic and Jerry O’Connell’s Breakup Shocker

Before walking down the aisle with husband Bill Rancic, Giuliana Rancic navigated the rocky seas of romance with former boyfriend, Jerry O’Connell. Recalling their tumultuous past, O’Connell bared all during a candid chat on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.” In his discussion with Ripa, the actor shed light on their breakup, originally detailed in Rancic’s 2015 memoir, “Going off Script.” As O’Connell dove deeper into the reminiscence, he connected more dots from their not-so-rosy past.

“We did have enjoyable times together,” he confessed, reflecting on their relationship. “But we broke up poorly.” With an air of sincerity, he extended an overdue apology. “I must apologize to Giuliana Rancic — sincerely — for being an awful boyfriend. Honestly, I wasn’t the worst, but definitely not a good one.” It turned out the apology was well warranted, as O’Connell revealed his slip into infidelity during their time together.

Rancic’s memoir reveals that the pair’s relationship came to an abrupt end through O’Connell’s building intercom. During the breakup, Rancic unexpectedly arrived at his place, only to find O’Connell with someone else, which led him to deny her entry. He famously said, “Nope. Sorry, homegirl. Things change. But you take care, okay?” (via Entertainment Weekly). When confronted with these words, O’Connell admitted to Ripa, “It doesn’t sound like something I’d say, but it does make for a catchy memoir line.”

Jerry O’Connell was far from faithful to Giuliana Rancic

One sad detail that Giuliana Rancic revealed in her memoir is that Jerry O’Connell had cheated on her twice in their short relationship. O’Connell didn’t cheat with anyone low-profile either. The first time around, he cheated on Rancic with Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) of the Spice Girls, whose love lives have taken some interesting twists and turns. Rancic’s harsh bites that she typically saved while co-hosting “Fashion Police” weren’t toned down in her memoir when she referred to Halliwell as “one of the lesser Spices” (via Page Six). Despite this, she decided to give O’Connell another chance. The chance didn’t last long when she discovered O’Connell getting cozy with his now-wife, actor Rebecca Romijn.

This triggered Rancic’s unforgettable confrontation through the intercom. Although O’Connell kept the identity of the mystery guest that day under wraps, even when Ripa pressed him for answers. Despite the drama, both have moved on, each finding love and tying the knot in 2007. O’Connell’s willingness to publicly acknowledge his past mistakes sets him apart from the plethora of unrepentant celebrities caught in the spotlight of infidelity.
