Bruce Blakeman Uses AI for Eye-Opening Perspective on Hochul’s New York

0

Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County Executive, has unveiled a scathing advertisement featuring a digitally crafted version of Governor Kathy Hochul. The ad presents a satirical take on Hochul ‘s potential future term, targeting issues such as economic viability, crime rates, and unlawful immigration.

Blakeman took to X on Tuesday to share the video, captioned with, “This is what Kathy Hochul’s New York really looks like.” He further promised tax reductions, reinstating cash bail, and working towards a safer, more affordable state.

In the one-minute video, a virtual rendition of Hochul strolls through iconic New York settings, proudly discussing her approach to increasing taxes and policies allegedly lenient on crime.

An AI-generated image shows Kathy Hochul standing in front of a police station next to a tattooed man saying "want some crack".

Bruce Blakeman released a new ad featuring an AI-generated Gov. Kathy Hochul walking and talking her way through familiar New York City locales and bragging about some of what critics consider her worst achievements in office. X/Bruce Blakeman

Within the ad, the AI-generated Hochul claims, “We provided luxury accommodations for illegal migrants in beautiful hotels like this one,” while standing in a computer-generated hotel lobby bustling with immigrants carrying their luggage and waiting in line at the concierge.

The ad continues with the AI Hochul declaring a tax increase of $8 billion for vital programs, such as offering free healthcare to sex workers and awarding lucrative no-bid contracts to well-connected individuals, narrated as she moves through a park dotted with benches where homeless people are seen sleeping.

The ad hit Hochul on increasing energy prices statewide, showing the governor’s digital doppelganger strolling through a hilly expanse dotted with wind turbines

“Thanks to our hard work, we’re leading the nation giving foreign companies energy contracts, which means your energy bills go up, but I get invited to all the best donor dinners now,” the fake gov says, appearing at a computer-rendered formal reception smiling and clinking glasses with a group of older men wearing tuxedoes.

“We’ve raised tolls and fares more than 20 times, because the best way to fix traffic is to ensure regular people can’t afford to drive or take the subway,” Hochul’s AI avatar says while crossing a highway overpass.

“And we ended cash bail so that we would stop punishing people who commit brutal crimes against fellow New Yorkers, like this nice young man,” she says, gesturing to a muscle-bound, tattoo-covered man wearing an intimidating facial expression outside of an AI-generated NYPD 17th Precinct building.

“Want some crack?” he happily offers the governor in what is easily the funniest moment of the spot.

The ad concludes with AI-Hochul walking down a New York City street lined with brownstones — showing her rallying against steps to make the city better,

“This November, don’t let Bruce Blakeman lower your taxes or make New York safe. Keep it unsafe and unaffordable with Kathy Hochul as your governor,” the ad concludes, flashing a mock-up campaign sign reading “Criminals, Cronies, and Illegal Immigrants for Hochul.”

The ad comes on the heels of Hochul paying a visit to Blakeman’s home turf in back-to-back appearances in Nassau and Suffolk counties, where she slammed her rival and fellow Republicans on driving up costs for New Yorkers by backing President Trump’s tariffs and war in Iran.

The latest polling shows Hochul’s lead has narrowed to just 6 points among likely general election voters, with 12% still undecided, according to a new survey conducted by co/efficient for the right-leaning Coalition to Protect Nassau Taxpayers.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Blakeman is hoping to thwart Hochul’s efforts to win a second full term in office.

Reps for hochul did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Expert Analysis Predicts Continued Rise in Obamacare Premiums Through 2027

NEW YORK – As Americans grapple with the financial demands of health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, a new analysis reveals that relief is unlikely in the coming year. Insurers within the marketplace are gearing up for a second consecutive year of double-digit premium increases.

A healthcare research analysis by KFF, released on Wednesday, indicates that among the 77 insurers participating in the ACA program that have made their rate filings public, the median premium increase proposed for 2027 stands at 14%. These companies attribute the hike to escalating healthcare costs, changes in federal regulations, and the cessation of pandemic-induced enhanced subsidies.

This upcoming rise in premiums adds to an already significant increase observed in 2026, when the median rate jumped by 20%, as noted by KFF. Although subsidies protect many Obamacare enrollees from bearing the full brunt of these premiums, those in the middle class, earning 400% above the poverty level or more, will confront a particularly stark rise in their healthcare costs.

These premium increases come amid ongoing deliberations among federal lawmakers who have floated various proposals to reform the costly U.S. healthcare system. However, no comprehensive measure has yet garnered the broad support needed for passage. These rising costs add to American concerns over affordability—a critical issue as the midterm elections in November approach.

Insurers point to the growing expenses and the challenges of serving a smaller, sicker insured population as key factors in the ongoing trend of increasing premiums.

Health insurers must send filings to regulators every year, explaining what they expect to see in premium rate changes for individual market health plans for the coming year.

Next year’s rates will be finalized later in the summer, but KFF’s analysis looked at those in the ACA marketplace that already are public across 16 states and Washington, D.C., to get an early glimpse at what insurers are saying. The report measured insurers’ premium increases as an average across all types of plans — bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

The analysis found that insurers listed rising costs across the healthcare sector — from hospital visits to prescription drugs, the workforce and sicker patients — as the biggest cause of rising premiums. Overall inflation contributed to that pressure, driving prices higher across the entire economy.

Insurers also blamed the expiration of federal subsidies that had offset costs for many people and caused the Affordable Care Act program to balloon in size in recent years. When those tax credits expired in January, many plan costs skyrocketed. That prompted large swaths of enrollees to depart the marketplace, leaving sicker patients who carry higher risks and costs, and driving premiums higher.

New state-by-state data posted by the Trump administration shows that the overall ACA marketplace shrunk by more than 2.5 million people over the past year, with some states seeing declines amounting to nearly a third of their enrollee population.

Some insurers added that federal regulatory changes contributed to their requests for higher premiums. For example, they said new enrollment and eligibility requirements instituted by the Trump administration could affect the overall population of ACA enrollees.

While Affordable Care Act enrollees make up less than 10% of the population, similar cost drivers are likely to make other private plans, including employer-sponsored plans, pricier too, according to KFF’s analysis.

Findings align with other analyses

Georgetown University’s Center on Health Insurance Reforms also published an analysis of preliminary ACA insurer rate filings last month. Like KFF’s, it projected double-digit premium increases in the marketplace next year.

Stacey Pogue, a senior research fellow at the center who authored the report, said the enrollees most affected by the rising premiums will be those who don’t qualify for financial help. She said those people already saw the most significant increases to their premiums in 2026, with some of their premiums doubling or tripling.

“Those are the folks who kind of got a double whammy” this year, she said.

Pogue said the rate filings are demonstrating what many analysts had expected: that the expiration of enhanced tax credits would cause healthy Americans to flee the marketplace and leave a sicker patient population that relies more heavily on insurance.

“When the healthy people leave, the prices go up,” she said. “The analysts all predicted that, and now that’s what we’re seeing.”

Attempted In-Flight Attack: Man Uses Pens in Passenger Assault

Pictured, from left to right: The assault victim, identified in legal documents as “C.R.” and the improvised weapon crafted by Julio Alvarez Lopez (DOJ). In the background: An Alaska Airlines aircraft (Alaska Airlines/YouTube).

A man is now facing significant time in federal prison after using pens to create a makeshift weapon and attacking another airline passenger. He reportedly told authorities he aimed to stab the victim “in the eye to reach [his] brain and kill him.”

On Tuesday, Julio Alvarez Lopez admitted guilt to a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, following his January 24, 2024, attack on an Alaska Airlines flight en route from Seattle to Las Vegas, as per official announcements.

The U.S. Department of Justice reported that Lopez attacked the victim by punching, hitting, and stabbing them numerous times with a homemade device constructed of “pens wrapped in rubber bands.”

The victim sustained stab wounds and injuries around the eye that necessitated stitches. Following the attack, Lopez proceeded to the front of the plane, where both crew members and passengers managed to subdue him for the rest of the flight.

The criminal complaint says the violence erupted about 30 minutes before the plane landed at Harry Reid International Airport. A passenger seated next to Lopez told investigators he appeared “fidgety” throughout the flight, repeatedly putting gloves on and taking them off, rummaging through his backpack, and avoiding eye contact.

After leaving and then briefly returning to his seat, Lopez went into the airplane restroom. When he came back, he immediately began punching the man seated across the aisle.

“There was blood everywhere,” a witness told investigators, according to the complaint.

The victim”s wife screamed and attempted to shield the couple’s 7-year-old son during the assault, according to court documents. She was also struck by Lopez.

Another passenger reported seeing the defendant drop what appeared to be several pens bundled together before walking up the aisle shouting, “I’ll only talk to the FBI.”

The victim, identified in court records only by the initials C.R., was later identified as a sworn law enforcement officer. Witnesses said C.R. ordered Lopez to sit down before flight attendants secured him with flex cuffs until the aircraft landed safely in Las Vegas.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Lopez admitted he made the improvised weapon before boarding the flight and chose to attack C.R. because he believed the man was watching him in a harassing manner, prosecutors wrote.

During the interview with federal authorities, Lopez claimed “the Mafia had been chasing him the last few months” and believed C.R. was a cartel member following him.

“The defendant stated, ‘I planned on attacking and killing him,'” the complaint says.

Lopez also “admitted to the FBI agents that he was trying to stab C.R. in the eye to reach C.R.’s brain to kill him,” the document states.

Lopez, a Mexican national who was granted permanent resident status in 2018, is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 22 for his sentencing hearing.

Unveiling the Secret Symbolism Behind Taylor and Travis’s ‘T&T’ Wedding Logo

0

Imagine if your English teacher married your gym teacher at the neighborhood sports hall. You’d probably expect them to put some effort into making the wedding memorable. Perhaps they’d choose a theme, search for inspiration online, or maybe even design wedding stationery with their initials intertwined.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have followed a similar path, albeit on a much grander scale. When they tied the knot last Friday, it wasn’t just the union of two people in love—it was the blending of two colossal brands.

Instead of a local sports hall, their venue was the iconic Madison Square Garden, accommodating up to 20,000 guests. As the couple vowed their love, they didn’t seal it with a simple kiss but with a distinctive logo.

This logo—a creative design featuring two interconnected Ts adorned with delicately woven hearts—graced their wedding invitations and adorned the luxurious gift boxes distributed at the rehearsal dinner. It was prominently displayed on walls and podiums within the venue and featured on a commemorative handkerchief gifted as a wedding favor.

JoAnn Gregoli, a renowned events planner who has worked with high-profile clients such as George and Amal Clooney, Jon Bon Jovi, and Bill Clinton, noted that her team has been designing logos for celebrity weddings for quite some time.

‘Most weddings want to feel very personal, so often we will come up with a branding logo monogram to make it feel like it’s the couple, and then we use that branding throughout the process,’ she told the Daily Mail.

Their logo – two Ts, connected at the top and bound by a pair of delicately woven hearts – was prominently displayed at Madison Square Garden

‘We talk it through and develop it with them as a group. We have a designer who will come in, draw it up, draft it and then we give them a bunch of options.’

Gregoli said her clients don’t just use the logo on the day itself. One had it emblazoned on his private jet after the wedding. Perhaps something for Swift to consider.

According to Gregoli, a wedding logo can be as much of a lifetime commitment as the marriage: ‘If they love the logo that much, and it really represents their brand as a couple, they will take that logo and trademark it and use it throughout their lifetime.’

At time of writing there were no publicly available filings to suggest that Swift and Kelce, both 36, have taken that step. But it is surely only a matter of time. This is, after all, the logo for the uberbrand that is, ‘Tayvis.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Swift’s publicist for comment.

As it stands the singer currently owns more than 150 trademarks, having trademarked everything from the names of her cats – Meredith, Olivia and Benjamin Swift – to the phrase ‘Welcome to New York, it’s been waiting for you.’

So, might the singer and sportsman become best known by their symbol, like Prince and Michael Jordan before them? It seems unlikely. But according to industry experts who spoke to the Daily Mail, there are risks when it comes to brands in which two become one.

In fact, the couple dipped their toe in some stealth branding ahead of the big day – both wearing Ralph Lauren for their engagement photographs, both wearing Christian Dior for their wedding. But, our experts warned, there’s a fine line between cementing brands… and destroying them.

‘Cynical people are assuming this is just a business deal, so you have to be careful that you’re not branding people to death,’ said Bob Dorfman, author of the annual Sports Marketers’ Scouting Report. ‘They have to let their individual careers continue along their paths without making everything T&T together.’

Lisa Delpy Neirotti, director of the sports management program at George Washington University’s school of business, agreed that there was a tightrope to walk between enhancing their individual brands and burning them.

‘She’s very classy, and she doesn’t need any more money,’ she told the Daily Mail. ‘This is one of the most important moments of her life. She did everything so high-end and so thoughtfully that I don’t see her trying to license or commercialize it. But I do see it being integrated into her future work.’

Trademarking the T&T logo would, Neirotti noted, at least give them control over it.

‘There are already counterfeiters out there doing it: I’ve seen people trying to sell it on Etsy and things like that,’ she said. At $23.95 for some knock- off T&T drinking glasses, the prices being fetched so far are decidedly underwhelming.

But still, it’s a design worth protecting, Neirotti said: ‘They’re probably going to try to trademark it. I could see it appearing on the cover of an album. Maybe she’s working on something about their marriage or that chapter of her life. I would see it integrated into her work rather than just used to sell T-shirts.’

Certainly, for the couple, the potential for cashing in is almost limitless.

Swift has 273 million followers on Instagram, and Kelce has eight million – almost four times the figure he had when he and Swift began dating.

The billionaire musician is without doubt the higher-profile figure, but it is not a one-way street: her embrace of NFL culture has seen her reach a new audience, with sports fans looking at her in a new, admiring light.

Ishveen Jolly, founder and CEO of sports marketing firm OpenSponsorship, which describes itself as ‘the world’s largest and smartest marketing platform,’ noted that Swift and Kelce were following in the footsteps of David and Victoria Beckham, whose entwined initials featured in their 1999 wedding.

She then launched a jeans brand under the ‘DVB’ logo, while he took the initials for his fragrance line.

Like the Beckhams, Swift and Kelce straddle the worlds of sport and entertainment; like their British counterparts, the Americans look intent on keeping their own separate passions alive.

‘David features in Victoria’s content and she features in his, but it’s quite clear who’s doing what,’ said Jolly. ‘She’s got the fashion line and he supports it; he’s got sports and the teams. It’s quite separate, which I think would make sense for Taylor and Travis too, because Travis is football and he’s a big name in football. I don’t think he suddenly wants to become her number two.’

When Beckham retired, he branched out into sports ownership and now co-owns Inter Miami soccer club.

Kelce has already bought in to a baseball team in his hometown of Cleveland, Neirotti pointed out. The 36-year-old, whose career is in its twilight, could easily segue, like Beckham, into owning a team of his own.

‘I could also see them getting involved more on the investment side, whether it’s a production company or being owners of sports teams,’ said Dorfman, the sports marketing expert – who attended the same Cleveland high school as Kelce.

‘You’re seeing more and more celebrities becoming minority owners, especially when you have that much money to throw around,’ he said. ‘You can be an investor without being actively involved, and just show up at games – it’s a little easier to do when you still have busy careers on the other side.’

Jolly, who counts Serena Williams and her Reddit founder husband Alexis Ohanian among her investors, said there was significant potential for crossover with their careers: Swift could lean into his world, and continue to build on her recent appearances at the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Knicks.

‘I think Serena and Alexis are a really interesting example. Alexis was not in the sports world at all, then married Serena and became obsessed with sports. I wonder whether Taylor and Travis would lean into sports ownership, because it’s such a natural and fun thing to be involved in,’ said Jolly.

‘Taylor obviously has enjoyed being at the football games, so maybe that would be their joint brand. Especially with women’s sports on the rise and her being such a prominent voice in that space.’

And if they have children, the marketing opportunities will only grow, Dorfman pointed out.

‘I don’t know what their plans are for having kids, but if they become a family, that opens up a whole avenue of marketing opportunities: products and services that are family-oriented, whether it’s automotive, fashion, toys, clothes,’ he said. ‘Maybe down the road that’s something they could get into.

‘As long as they stay together, it can be very, very lucrative.’

Stability Restored to Manhattan High-Rise Following Column Buckling; Evacuated Residents Begin to Return

0

NEW YORK — The precarious situation of a high-rise under construction in Manhattan was brought under control late Tuesday, allowing some previously evacuated buildings to reopen.

“After extensive monitoring, we’ve observed no further movement in the structure,” stated Ahmed Tigani, the commissioner of the New York City Department of Buildings, during a news briefing on Tuesday.

By the time night fell, several of the seven buildings initially evacuated for safety reasons had welcomed back their residents.

The situation began to unfold Tuesday morning when inspectors noticed columns bending at a 1970s-era structure undergoing conversion into luxury apartments. As a precaution, workers on-site and occupants of nearby structures—which include a school, diplomatic offices, and multiple hotels in bustling midtown—were evacuated after firefighters arrived at approximately 8 a.m. Mayor Zohran Mamdani labeled the incident as “an extremely serious situation.”

The building at 235 East 42nd Street is seen Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in New York.

Upon further inspection, city teams found that the compromised columns showed no new signs of movement, allowing on-site contractors to proceed with urgent repair efforts. By Tuesday evening, workers were visibly reinforcing the damaged sections inside the sleek glass-and-steel skyscraper.

That work is expected to continue, impacting a part of Manhattan near the famed Grand Central train station that is a hub for metro area commuters and residents as well as tourists.

Fears of collapse prompted evacuation orders

The building, which is the former headquarters of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, is located just down the street from New York City icons like the Chrysler Building and the United Nations headquarters.

Leila Bozorg, one of Mamdani’s deputy mayors, said it was “encouraging” the building did not appear to be shifting as officials went up into and past the damaged floors on their way to the 37th floor – the top floor – of the building.

From the street below, a badly bent structural column could be seen through a large glass window on the 21st floor. The fire department, which also posted images of the column, said they found multiple cracks and sagging floors as well.

Asked earlier in the day if there was concern of a collapse, Fire Chief John Esposito said the way the steel-framed building is constructed, “it would not be a total collapse, it would be more of a localized collapse.”

Nearby buildings and streets remained evacuated for much of the day, including a school and the Israeli consulate just across the street. The former Pfizer building itself was empty at the time, other than for the construction workers.

Ramesh Yallappa, a tourist who was among those evacuated from a nearby hotel, said he initially feared it was a fire in the hotel when an immediate evacuation was ordered Tuesday morning.

“That moment, we were really really scared,” he said.

Developer says new addition led to damage

With more than 1,600 units, the developers say the project is the largest office-to-residential conversion in the city’s history. Gensler, the architectural firm leading the project, says on its website that it is transforming a pair of 1970s-era office buildings by adding more than a dozen stories and redesigning an adjoining tower.

Building department records show the project has been fined by the city for several safety violations, including glass and metal falling off the building, along with an incident where a worker fell off a ladder.

Spokespersons for Gensler and MetroLoft, the project developer, didn’t return messages seeking comment.

But in a statement to The New York Times, MetroLoft stressed that the building itself is not at risk of collapse and that no debris fell from the building.

Nathan Berman, founder of MetroLoft, told The Wall Street Journal that the added weight from widening the top 15 or so floors of the building likely caused the damage. The two columns that buckled may not have been properly reinforced, he told the newspaper.

“Why those particular two columns and nothing else? We don’t know,” Berman told the Journal. “We’re investigating that.”

He maintained the building’s integrity wasn’t compromised.

“Ninety-five percent of the building, the structure is sound and intact,” Berman told the Journal. “There is no way that this corner of a small extension all of a sudden topples this building.”

Experts say more extensive repairs likely needed

Emily Guglielmo, a structural engineer based in California, said the buckled columns are likely not repairable and will need to be removed and replaced.

“A lot of these things – cracking, deflections, sagging – those elements are probably not salvageable,” she said.

Replacing the columns will require rigorous analysis, and the repairs will be expensive, experts said.

The short-term solution is shoring up the structure and the floors, said Abi Aghayere, a professor of structural engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Shoring involves installing four-legged scaffolding to temporarily carry the load that the structure is supposed to carry until the columns can be replaced, Aghayere said.

Yi Bao, associate professor of civil engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, said the building could be damaged beyond the buckled columns, which could have forced the loads to be redistributed to different parts of the building.

Ed Miller, an area resident, said he walks under the building’s scaffolding several times a day, but will find other routes home going forward.

“The building was pretty old,” said Miles Grant, who said he used to work at the building. “It definitely needed a lot of work to become ready for residential.”

Revitalize Knee Strength After 60 with This Doctor-Approved 10-Minute Daily Routine

Achieving consistency in managing your physical activities is crucial for maintaining control over your fitness journey.

>

Encountering weakness in the knees can significantly impede daily functions and hinder progress in your fitness regimen. This joint bears much of your body’s weight and endures the impact of everyday movement. Strengthening the muscles around the knees is vital as they act as shock absorbers, provide stability, and safeguard cartilage and ligaments from damage.

“Many undervalue the importance of leg strength. As you age, the most significant factor that compromises independence is not cardiac health or cognitive decline, but rather the strength of your legs. Robust knees help you rise from the floor, navigate stairs, and prevent falls through improved balance,” states Cory Calendine, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Hip & Knee Replacement Expert at the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee.

To aid those over 60 in rebuilding knee strength, healthcare professionals suggest integrating a few straightforward habits into a comprehensive 10-minute daily routine aimed at strengthening your legs.

What Should Be Included in a Safe 10-Minute Daily Routine, and Why?

“A 10-minute routine to improve knee strength after 60 should be focused on increasing overall strength, improving balance, and maintaining or improving range of motion through your joints,” explains Dr. Mariam Zakhary, DO, Clinical Advisor of Ikon Recovery Center, located in New Jersey, who is double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Sports Medicine.

According to Dr. Marc Pietropaoli, Founder of Victory In Motion, control and consistency reign supreme over intensity. Keeping the reps slow and controlled is key, since the muscles around the knees are loaded in patterns similar to those used when walking or climbing stairs.

Here are several productive exercises to include in a 10-minute routine to help restore knee strength.

Sit-to-Stand

The sit-to-stand helps build the daily strength you need to get up and sit down, says Dr. Pietropaoli.

  1. Begin seated at the front of a sturdy chair with your feet placed on the floor under your knees.
  2. Lean forward slightly.
  3. Try to stand up without using your knees, hands, or additional support.
  4. Use control to slowly sit back down.
  5. Do this exercise for 1 minute.

4 Daily Exercises That Rebuild Knee Strength Faster Than Resistance Bands After 55

Glute Bridge

  1. Begin by lying flat on your back with bent knees and feet hip-width apart on the mat, arms at your sides with palms pressing into the surface.
  2. Press through your heels to lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
  3. Squeeze your buttocks, holding at the top for 3 to 5 seconds.
  4. Lower your hips back to the start position.
  5. Do this exercise for 1 minute.

Trump Declares End to Iran Ceasefire in Explosive Rant: Calls Them ‘Scum

0

On Wednesday, President Trump announced an end to the ceasefire with Iran, expressing a firm stance against future negotiations. He characterized Iran’s leaders in stark terms, calling them “scum,” “liars,” “cheats,” and “sick people” with whom he no longer wishes to engage.

These sharp remarks followed U.S. airstrikes targeting over 80 sites in Iran. The military action was a direct response to Iran’s alleged attacks on commercial vessels in the vital region.

In a press briefing in Ankara, Turkey, President Trump expressed his unrestrained views about Iran’s leadership. The comments came in response to a reporter’s query regarding the status of the ceasefire and whether the memorandum of understanding was no longer valid.

“From my perspective, the ceasefire is finished. I have no interest in engaging with them anymore. These people are scum. You know what scum is? They’re sick individuals, led by sick minds, and they’re violent and ruthless,” Trump asserted. He went on to warn, “If they possessed a nuclear weapon, they wouldn’t hesitate to use it.”

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s done,” Trump declared.

Convicted Offender Named as Suspect in May’s Armed Convenience Store Heist

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have named 21-year-old Mikale Immanuel Fuye as a suspect connected to an armed robbery that took place at a convenience store on Hawthorne Road back in May.

The incident unfolded in the early morning hours of May 10, around 5:20 a.m., when deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office rushed to Circle K located at 4310 SE Hawthorne Road following a report of an armed robbery. Although the suspects managed to flee before deputies arrived, surveillance footage captured two masked men, identified as Black males, wielding firearms. Notably, the suspects wore gloves—each donning just one glove—while the other hand was covered with a black sock. One suspect held a Smith & Wesson Model 6906 9mm handgun, and his accomplice brandished a brown Ruger 10-22 rifle, distinguishable by a red bandanna tied to it in a unique fashion.

During the terrifying ordeal, a store employee and a customer were present. Under the threat of a gun, the employee complied with the robbers’ demands by opening the cash register, from which one suspect swiftly retrieved cash. Meanwhile, the other suspect commanded the customer to lie on the ground and proceeded to frisk him. The situation further escalated when the first suspect menacingly pressed his rifle’s barrel against the customer’s neck.

The heist culminated with the suspects making off with personal belongings from both victims alongside the store’s cash. The robbers then reportedly fled north along SE 43rd Street. Despite a prompt response by law enforcement, the perpetrators managed to escape capture at the scene.

On May 18, deputies responded to a home where the victims said that while they had been out during the day, someone had forced entry into the home, had ransacked it, and had stolen at least $6,000 in cash, $15,000 in jewelry, a handgun, business checks, credit cards, passports, and social security cards.

Deputies canvassed the neighborhood and found surveillance video that showed an older white Lincoln sedan arriving at about 8:50 a.m. and then leaving the area at a high rate of speed about an hour later. The sedan had illegal tint on the front windshield and other windows.

A search for white Lincoln sedans in the area only found one, and it was registered to Fuye.

The victims also reported that their credit card was used at multiple stores on the same day as the burglary, and deputies reported that the white Lincoln was captured on video surveillance at one of the businesses.

At about 3:26 p.m. on May 20, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a white sedan with illegal window tint after the sedan left Majestic Oaks without stopping. The driver allegedly drove away after a deputy instructed him to stop while making eye contact; the car accelerated away and made several turns in an effort to evade deputies but eventually crashed into an uninvolved vehicle that was stopped behind an RTS bus near the intersection of SW 61st Street and SW 8th Avenue. This caused Fuye’s vehicle to travel off the roadway and crash into a tree before coming to rest in a ditch next to a children’s playground.

Fuye allegedly tried to flee by jumping out of the driver’s side window of the car, but he was apprehended by deputies and a K-9. A loaded Smith & Wesson Model 6906 9mm handgun was reportedly found in the street next to Fuye’s crashed car, and forensics reportedly found Fuye’s fingerprint on the gun.

A probable cause search of the vehicle reportedly produced the burglary victim’s business checks and personal checkbook in the trunk, and a firearm was found in the vehicle, but it was not the burglary victim’s stolen firearm. Fuye was charged with six felonies and a misdemeanor in the burglary case and is being held without bail.

After a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, deputies reportedly found additional items related to the burglary and a glove that matched the glove in the video from Circle K.

Location data from phones in Fuye’s possession reportedly placed him two miles away from the Circle K about 14 minutes before the armed robbery, and a search warrant of Fuye’s residence reportedly produced a Ruger 10-22 rifle with a red bandanna, tied in the same way as the one shown in the Circle K video.

Post Miranda, Fuye declined to answer questions about the armed robbery.

On top of the charges associated with the burglary, Fuye has been charged with three counts of armed robbery (the business is the third victim), two counts of kidnapping to facilitate the commission of a felony, three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, and displaying a weapon during the commission of a felony. He has a juvenile conviction from 2022 and three adult felony convictions (two violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in December 2025. He is already being held without bail in the burglary case, and Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him held without bail in the armed robbery case, pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

The investigation into the other suspect is ongoing.

Analyzing the Jets’ Top 25 Players: Where Do Mason Taylor and Braelon Allen Stand?

0

This marks the 15th year of our annual summer countdown, ranking the top 25 players on the Jets roster. It’s hard to remember a time when we’ve seen so much transformation in one offseason.

The current list features only 10 players who appeared in the 2025 edition. General Manager Darren Mougey, along with Head Coach Aaron Glenn, have overhauled a roster that is almost unrecognizable from their initial lineup. The question remains: is it an improvement? We are about to delve into that, assessing the roster’s potential based on its current lineup.

As a quick note, we don’t include rookies in the ranking because predicting their performance in the NFL remains speculative at best.

Before unveiling this year’s selections, let’s review the players who have fallen off from last year’s list, with their previous rankings in parentheses: Sauce Gardner (1), Quinnen Williams (2), Quincy Williams (4), John Simpson (6), Alijah Vera-Tucker (8), Michael Carter II (9), Jermaine Johnson (10), Justin Fields (12), Allen Lazard (14), Andre Cisco (18), Xavier Gipson (19), Tony Adams (21), Josh Reynolds (22), Tyrod Taylor (23), and Jeremy Ruckert (25).
