Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding Guests Spill Out of Hotels After Celebrations

0

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding attendees prepare to depart from their luxurious hotel accommodations, they’re battling tired eyes and sipping on extra-large cups of coffee to shake off the morning haze before checking out.

Zach Ertz, once a prominent player for the Philadelphia Eagles, and his spouse Julie seemed fatigued as they stepped out on Saturday morning. Julie was spotted grasping what looked like an oversized iced coffee while precariously securing her claw hairpin to her tank top.

The couple’s laid-back travel attire starkly contrasted their glamorous appearance from the previous night. Julie opted for jeans and a tank top, while Zach chose to wear basketball shorts paired with a white T-shirt.

Meanwhile, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford embraced a comfortable look as well, donning a white T-shirt and baseball cap, effectively masking his weary eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses.

Other guests departing the upscale Manhattan venue also favored comfort over fashion, likely due to New York City’s current heat wave, with temperatures projected to soar to 96 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday.

The guests got barely any sleep after Swift and Kelce’s wedding, as they were up late partying away inside Madison Square Garden, where the couple hosted a garden-themed reception that also had arcade games.

Very little about the party has escaped the lips of guests, who were contracted under an iron-clad NDA leading up to the wedding.

Guests were even said to have received last-minute information about the nuptials in order to keep everything under a tight lid.

The couple also celebrated with more than just sports stars, as Swift’s Hollywood friends, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Hugh Grant, were also seen at the ceremony.

AMC CEO Adam Aron has given the most insight into the beautiful ceremony, writing in a now-deleted X post that the sports arena ‘did not look like Madison Square Garden.’

‘Immediately upon entry, everything… floors, walls, ceilings… was draped in peach and white. Large blown-up pictures of Taylor and Travis at each age, year by year from one-year-old to late teenager-hood were on display.’

He said the space was ‘devoid of any notion that a basketball or hockey game [had] ever shared the space.’

‘Somehow, magically, someone created an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat,’ he wrote.

‘Everything draped off this time in green and white. Real flowers and I think artificial trees welcomed fifteen rows of maybe 75 or so chairs. They say there were around one thousand attendees, but surprisingly, it all felt intimate and small.

He also remarked on the couple’s vows, which both wrote their own, stating they were ‘long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent, and endearing.’

Law enforcement officials responded to a distress call from the 100 block of 69th Place North shortly after 2 a.m. The Birmingham Police Department reported that upon arrival, officers found a man lying unresponsive inside the residence, responding to reports of gunfire.

Emergency responders from the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene but ultimately pronounced the individual dead. As of 9:40 a.m. that Saturday, the circumstances of the shooting remained largely unknown, leaving investigators and the public searching for answers.

Exclusive First Look: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Tie the Knot at MSG

0

Guests at the lavish wedding celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden have shared an inside look at the exclusive event.

Joann Jordan, the wife of personal trainer Rob Jordan, took to Instagram on Saturday to post two stunning photos from the couple’s attendance at Friday’s nuptials.

One photograph captures Rob and Joann ascending an expansive staircase adorned with red carpet and flanked by drapes in shades of white and deep pink.

Several MSG staff dressed in black can be seen stationed at the top, seemingly marking the grand entryway to the wedding ceremony.

Another image features Rob and Joann posing on a separate staircase, set against the backdrop of an elegant brown door and a glittering silver chandelier.

Rob wore a black and white tux with a black bowtie and glasses to the nuptials, while Joann wore a dark green dress.

“An unforgettable evening in New York celebrating the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for our dear friends, Travis and Taylor,” Joann captioned her post.

“Love was in the air, the city was magical, and every detail was simply unforgettable!✨🥂🌹,” she added.

Kelce’s friend, DJ Chop UFL, also shared multiple photos on the same two staircases in his own wedding post.

“The secret garden was an unbelievable celebration and experience! So happy for my brother and sister Trav & Tay Tay 🙌🏾 Congratulations once again! Yesterday was perfect,” he captioned his post.

Meanwhile, director Joseph Kahn posted a selfie with wife Lotte Kahn with pink curtains in the background, and told his followers he “had a wonderful” time at the wedding.

Here’s latest on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at MSG:

“I got to meet Steven Spielberg and the lovely Kate Capshaw and talk filmmaking with the GOAT (lifelong dream achieved),” Kahn wrote. “What I will say about the wedding was it was so much funnier and emotional than expected, and as big as it was, it also felt very intimate.”

Kanh continued: “And yes, literally everyone was there. I told Lotte many times it was like living in the internet, and AI would crack if it tried to render it. Anyway congratulations Taylor and Travis! Wishing your beautiful family and future family endless happiness!”

Swift and Kelce, both 36, tied the knot in front of 1,000 people at the iconic New York City venue.

Just around 7:30 p.m. ET, MSG confirmed the news with pink digital screens around the venue that read, “JUST&T MARRIED!”

Celebrity guests included Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Ed Sheeran, Karlie Kloss, Hugh Grant, Jason Sudeikis, Tom Brady, Laura Dern, Sabrina Carpenter, Dakota Johnson, Fergie, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Benson Boone, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and more.

Swift’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine, who was at the wedding, confirmed to Page Six the “Love Story” singer walked down the aisle in a Christian Dior Haute Couture gown and Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.

Austin Swift served as his sister’s “Man of Honor,” while Kelces’s older brother, Jason Kelce, served as his best man, Paine also confirmed.

As we previously reported, Swift and Kelce’s big day began with a 4 p.m. cocktail hour on the sixth-floor concourse of MSG, followed by the ceremony that took place at 5:30 and then the reception which ran from 6:30 to 2 a.m.

The celebration transformed The Garden into an ethereal garden.

The couple’s extravagant wedding decor, including custom monogrammed items and trees and large green furnishings that were part of a “big gazebo,” were seen being wheeled out of MSG the morning after the wedding in Page Six’s exclusive photos.

Orange armchairs, cocktail tables, green chairs and a chest holding “games” were also spotted.

An employee told us, “We’re going to be here all day. We’re going to be here for 24 hours, until tomorrow.”

Before their MSG spectacle, Page Six confirmed Swift and Kelce had already tied the knot in private.

The Kansas City Chiefs player and the “Opalite” singer started dating in 2023.

They got engaged two years later in the garden-esque backyard of Kelce’s Kansas home.

Vatican Excommunicates Renegade Bishops for Defying Pope Leo XIV

0

Marking his first significant confrontation, Pope Leo XIV faced off against a schismatic Catholic faction, concluding Thursday with the Vatican’s announcement that it had declared the Society of St. Pius X in schism. The edict excommunicated the group’s bishops who had defied the Pope by appointing their own bishops without his consent.

The Vatican’s decision came swiftly, just one day after the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) proceeded to elevate four bishops at its seminary in Écône, Switzerland, despite a direct appeal from Leo urging the cessation of what the Church termed a “schismatic act.”

On Thursday, the Holy See issued a decree excommunicating both the newly appointed bishops and the two who participated in their consecration, formally labeling the act as a schism, or a deliberate separation from the Catholic Church.

This decision follows numerous attempts by previous popes to reconcile with the traditionalist faction, which has long opposed several reforms enacted during the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s, particularly those permitting the Mass to be conducted in vernacular languages rather than Latin.

Only the pope has the authority to approve the consecration of Catholic bishops, a practice meant to preserve the Church’s unity and its line of succession from the apostles.

The sanctions also reverse concessions the Vatican had granted the SSPX in recent years as it tried to bring the group back into full communion with Rome. According to the decree, the group can no longer validly administer the sacraments of confession and marriage, and the Vatican urged Catholics attending SSPX Masses to separate themselves from the movement.

The action comes just days after Leo made a rare personal appeal to the group’s leader, the Rev. Davide Pagliarani, urging him to cancel the consecrations.

“I plead with you and ask you with all my heart: please turn back!” the pope wrote in a letter to Pagliarani on Monday, warning the planned ordinations would deepen the decades-old division between Rome and the SSPX.

The dispute is the first major test of Leo’s pontificate. Since becoming pope, the American-born pontiff has emphasized healing divisions within the Catholic Church, including reaching out to conservatives and traditionalists who felt alienated during Pope Francis’ papacy.

During Wednesday’s consecration ceremony, Pagliarani insisted the ordinations were carried out not in opposition to the pope but in service to the Church.

“We are accused of not respecting the pope,” Pagliarani said. “But it is precisely because we love the pope as the vicar of Christ, as the head of the church, that we don’t want to see the pope humiliated anymore, on the side of false shepherds representing false religions.”

Founded in 1970 by French Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, the Society of St. Pius X has long opposed what it considers theological errors introduced by the Second Vatican Council. Lefebvre was excommunicated in 1988 after consecrating four bishops without the approval of Pope John Paul II in a nearly identical confrontation.

Those excommunications were lifted in 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI in an effort to restore dialogue, though the SSPX never returned to full communion with Rome and has remained outside the Church’s formal structure.

Despite that status, the society has continued to grow, reporting hundreds of priests, seminarians and religious members serving followers in dozens of countries, making it one of the largest traditionalist Catholic movements operating outside the Vatican’s authority.

Ex-NBA Doctor Alerts: Caitlin Clark’s Career at Risk Amid Rival Aggression Post-WNBA Incident

0

Caitlin Clark, a guard for the Indiana Fever, is at risk of sustaining a permanent injury if she continues to endure aggressive fouls. This warning comes from an orthopedic surgeon who has over ten years of experience with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers.

In a conversation with Fox News, Dr. Nicholas DiNubile emphasized the need for the WNBA to enhance its protection of top players like Clark. ‘Improved officiating is essential,’ he stated, questioning, ‘How are these incidents overlooked?’

Dr. DiNubile also expressed concern over the ‘troubling’ level of physical contact Clark has encountered during games.

The issue gained attention following a game on June 24, when Indiana faced off against Phoenix. During a tense scramble for the ball, Clark ended up beneath multiple Mercury players. Phoenix’s forward, Alyssa Thomas, inadvertently struck Clark’s throat with a closed hand, visibly causing her discomfort.

Initially, no foul was called against Thomas, but she later received a one-game suspension. Thomas has defended her actions, describing the incident as a ‘complete accident.’

‘You can crush someone’s larynx with very little pressure,’ DiNubile told Fox News. ‘Ten to 20 pounds of pressure can damage the throat or larynx area. Even if you don’t fracture the larynx, a blow to that area, you could get some swelling or bleeding and close the airway and get into a very rapid life-or-death situation.

‘I wouldn’t want to be the team doctor having to deal with that,’ he continued. ‘That’s what keeps us up at night, those kind of things that you have to respond to on the court… you can’t go for the throat.’

Fox News has cited 13 instances of ‘controversial contact’ against Clark since she arrived in the league in 2024. Since then, she has missed 33 regular-season games due to injury.

Of particular concern to DiNubile were the shots he says Clark has taken to her eyes – a particularly sensitive area for 3-point shooters.

‘She gets a lot to her face. She gets poked in the eye. She gets hit in the face,’ DiNubile said. ‘And they also, with her 3-point shooting… there’s a lot of where they get in her space and her landing space. You see that way too often and that’s very, very dangerous.’

He also cited head injuries and concussions as other potential problems, given the frequency with which Clark crashes to the hardwood.

DiNubile, who says he was an orthopaedic consultant with the Sixers from 1996 until 2008, does not think there is anything Clark can do to protect herself. Instead, he explained, the WNBA needs to crack down on hard fouls.

‘It’s hard to protect yourself with those type of… And that’s why they’re flagrant fouls, right? You just… There, there’s no way to really protect yourself in those instances… she takes it in stride. I don’t think she brings any of it on herself.’

The controversy marred the recent Commissioner’s Cup final in Brooklyn, where WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert was booed while presenting the New York Liberty with their trophy.

A day earlier, Thomas lashed out at Engelbert and the league over their handling of the controversy. As a result, Thomas explained, she and her family have been targeted by racist online abuse and even threats.

‘Our families are being threatened,’ Thomas, who is Black, told reporters Tuesday. ‘Kids are being threatened. People are sending racial slurs and all types of stuff.

‘There’s a difference between trolling and there’s a difference between hatred,’ she continued. ‘The hatred that we’re experiencing over a play that was, honestly, a complete accident, no one even knew what happened, it’s just unfortunate.’

She also directed frustration at Engelbert, whom she criticized for being silent on the issue.

‘The league has to do better in this instance,’ Thomas said. ‘Honestly, I didn’t even know I was being suspended until 10 minutes before it was being put on social media. We still have yet to hear anything from Cathy.

‘It’s no surprise. You can see what’s being said on social media. It’s unfortunate, but as usual, she remains silent. That’s unfortunate when our lives are being threatened.

‘Just the whole narrative that’s being painted out there,’ she continued. ‘It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this over basketball.

‘A lot of us, myself included, didn’t even know the play took place until after the game. And now we’re being painted as thugs. And [there are] death threats out on us, so it’s really unacceptable. It’s something that needs to change in this league, and I’m just really sick and tired of it.’

As reported by ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, Engelbert and Thomas did exchange text messages last week. The Commissioner is said to have directed league security to get in touch with Phoenix security over the threats to Thomas.

Engelbert also released her own statement on Tuesday.

‘The WNBA vehemently condemns any and all forms of hate,’ Engelbert said. ‘The safety and well-being of everyone in our community is always the league’s top priority.

‘We are aware of Alyssa Thomas’ comments, and what she and her teammates have experienced is completely unacceptable and not representative of the WNBA community. The league and our security team have been in contact with the Phoenix Mercury organization and remain committed to protecting all players.’

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding: Exclusive First Photos Revealed

0

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have tied the knot, and exclusive photos from their highly private nuptials have surfaced, showcasing how they transformed Madison Square Garden into a charming ‘countryside retreat’ for the occasion.

After enticing fans with months of speculation and varied reports, the duo finally said “I do” in front of 1,000 of their nearest and dearest – including a host of world-famous celebrities – at a spectacular celebration in New York City’s iconic arena this past Friday.

The announcement was made at exactly 7:30 PM in true star-studded fashion: video ads emblazoned with ‘JUST&T MARRIED!’ lit up the legendary venue, cleverly playing on their initials.

Now, some A-list attendees have shared tantalizing glimpses of how the couple turned the space into their dreamlike wedding setting.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday morning, personal trainer Rob Jordan’s wife, Joann Jordan, shared photos of her and her husband taken on the day of the wedding.

One photograph reveals the newlyweds ascending a grand staircase to the celebration area, elegantly dressed with a stunning, peach-colored velvet carpet.

Surrounding the stairs were light and dark pink curtains, making the space private and magical.

‘An unforgettable evening in New York celebrating the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for our dear friends, Travis and Taylor. Love was in the air, the city was magical and every detail was simply unforgettable,’ Joann Jordan wrote in the caption.

According to AMC CEO Adam Aron, MSG was completely transformed into a ‘secret garden’ for the couple.

In a now-deleted post on X, Aron shared every detail of the night, including the fact that Kelce wore a white tuxedo, while Swift was in a ‘stunning white wedding dress.’

‘It did not look like Madison Square Garden. Immediately upon entry, everything… floors, walls, ceilings… was draped in peach and white,’ Aron wrote, in part.

‘Large blown up pictures of Taylor and Travis at each age, year by year from one year-old to late teenager-hood, were on display,’ his messaged continued.

‘A small portion of MSG was cordoned off, devoid of any notion that that a basketball or hockey game ever shared that space. Somehow magically, someone created an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat.’

The CEO described the exchange of their vows as ’emotional’ and ‘charming.’

‘Long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing explorations by each as to how they met, why they want to be with each other for all eternity, the promises they made in joining their much-beloved two whole families (Kelce’s and Swift’s) as one, and committing to their new mutual life together,’ he wrote.

He emphasized that Swift and Kelce had clearly found their ‘soulmate’ in each other, and guests had witnessed ‘real’ and true ‘pure joy.’

Photos obtained by Page Six showed some of the intricate furniture from the event being removed from MSG on Saturday morning, including what appeared to be a white piece of wood adorned with their wedding logo – two T’s intertwined with some hearts.

Orange armchairs, cocktail tables and green chairs were also seen being put into trucks.

Both the bride and groom were dressed in Christian Dior, Swift’s publicist announced after they said their ‘I dos.’

There were no bridesmaids. Instead, Taylor’s brother, Austin Swift, acted as her ‘man of honor’, and Travis’s brother, Jason Kelce, was the best man.

Jason’s daughters were the flower girls, tossing petals at Taylor’s feet as she made her way down the aisle with a string quartet playing one of her own songs.

The guest list included a dazzling array of the world’s biggest stars.

Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham and Dakota Johnson were among the bride’s closest friends there.

Steven Spielberg was also in attendance, and Beyonce and Jay Z are also understood to have attended.

Swift did not attend Kloss’s 2019 wedding after the pair had a rumored feud over the model’s close bond with the singer’s nemesis Scooter Braun.

Her inclusion on the guest list appeared to signal the pair had patched up their relationship.

However, there was no sign of Swift’s longtime pal Blake Lively, with whom the pop star had a purported falling out over her inclusion in the movie star’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni.

Champion Crowned in Women’s Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Competition

0

She’s undoubtedly the best.

In an impressive display of sheer willpower, Miki Sudo once again clutched victory at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, held on a bright Saturday morning in Coney Island. Sudo devoured a stunning 33 hot dogs, securing her hold on the illustrious Mustard Belt.

Though this year matched her performance from the previous competition, where she also wolfed down 33 hot dogs, it’s notably less than her awe-inspiring feat in 2024 when she set a record by consuming 51. The achievements mark a journey of determined perseverance and skill in the culinary competition arena.

Capturing her 11th Mustard Belt in 2025, Sudo confided that she felt slightly disappointed for not surpassing her personal best, expressing that she “let the fans down a little.” Her sincerity illustrates the passion she pours into every competition.

Sudo, now 40, has become a formidable force in the world of competitive eating since her debut in 2014. Undefeated in every women’s bracket competition she’s entered, her legacy continues to dominate and inspire both fans and competitors alike.

The Florida woman is graduate of the state’s Hillsborough College and has a dental hygiene degree.

Sudo partner, Nick Wehry, is also a competitive eater. “When they’re not racking up records on the professional competitive eating circuit or searching for America’s Next Best Food Challenge, The Hungry Couple aids in restaurant promotions and enjoys an active lifestyle in their home state of Florida with their infant son Max and American Bully, Dennis,” they say on their website.

The only one she missed was in 2021 when she was pregnant, paving the way for Michelle Lesco to claim the win, with 30.75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes that year.

Lesco landed in second place with 22.

The 42-year-old from Tucson, AZ, who earned the nickname “Cardboard Shell,” is a senior manager of Youth Services at the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona.

Joey Chestnut & Miki Sudo Aim for Victory at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest

0

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn — Celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday with a splash of competitive spirit, the Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest returns on Saturday. This iconic event comes in the wake of a pivotal year for the beloved frankfurter face-off and its notable participants.

Earlier this year, Nathan’s Famous was acquired by Smithfield Foods, a major player in the packaged meat industry. Adding to the drama, Joey Chestnut, the reigning men’s champion known for breaking records, faced legal troubles following an altercation at a bar in Indiana. He pled guilty to a charge of misdemeanor battery in April.

Despite these developments, the hot dog contest presses on. Both Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo are back to defend their titles in the men’s and women’s categories, aiming to extend their impressive winning streaks from last year.

In this intense competition, participants have a mere 10 minutes to devour as many hot dogs and buns as possible. Many competitors opt to soak their hot dogs in water beforehand, facilitating easier and quicker consumption.

Miki Sudo, renowned for her dominating performance, boasts an impressive record of 11 victories. She holds the women’s record for consuming an astounding 51 hot dogs.

Chestnut has taken the so-called Mustard Belt 17 times and notched the men’s record: 76 franks. He’s still on probation in the battery case but is allowed to travel outside Indiana. His lawyer has said that what happened in the bar was a misunderstanding and that Chestnut accepted responsibility for his actions.

Hot dog contest organizer Major League Eating, which oversees the Nathan’s Famous contest, said the criminal case didn’t affect Chestnut’s eligibility for the competition.

The event, which dates to 1972, is held in front of the original Nathan’s Famous’ restaurant in New York’s Coney Island.

HOW TO WATCH

If you can’t make it to Coney Island, ESPN will be airing and streaming the competition. Coverage of the women’s competition begins at 10:45 a.m. ET on ESPN+/ESPN App where the contest will be re-aired during the men’s competition.

The men’s competition airs at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and will re-air on the same channel at 4 p.m. ET. ABC will simulcast coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET for 30 minutes.

Dramatic Rescue Mission: Venezuelan Saved After Eight Days Trapped in Grueling Ordeal

0

The tale of survival defied all odds, earning itself the moniker of a miracle.

In the coastal town of Venezuela, a security guard named Hernán Alberto Gil Flores was discovered alive after being trapped for eight daunting days beneath the debris of a collapsed shopping centre. This astonishing survival occurred long past what experts deem the typical period of endurance without sustenance or water.

At the time of the disaster, the 43-year-old Flores had been on duty in a small cabin situated within the basement of Galerías Playa Grande. On June 24, the region was struck by two powerful earthquakes, registering magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.7. These tremors shook Venezuela’s north coast within a mere 60 seconds of each other. Amid the chaos, the security cabin proved to be Flores’ unlikely sanctuary, offering a degree of protection and a precious pocket of air.

Remarkably, it was not until June 29 that responders from the Costa Rican Red Cross detected signs of life from beneath the wreckage. The discovery set the stage for a meticulously planned rescue operation, which was officially launched the following day.

A man lies on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask. He is surrounded by first responders wearing yellow helmets who have rescued him.

Vincenzo Borgna, who led the Chilean urban search and rescue team responsible for orchestrating the mission to free Flores, recounted the operation’s complexity. He described the efforts to recover the trapped security guard as “extremely complex and dangerous,” underscoring the perilous conditions faced by rescue teams as they worked tirelessly to bring Flores to safety.

It was like “a sand castle with a building on top, and you take a rock away, and it’ll fall”, Borgna told SBS News in Venezuela.

Inside the three-day rescue

The rescue operation brought together responders from around the world, including Chilean firefighters and specialist teams from the United States, Portugal, Mexico, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.

Borgna says the operation was “so difficult that the technical and engineering teams from the US had dismissed it as too risky”.

Rescuers stand in a circle on the street, with a partially demolished building behind them.

Initial strategies to save Flores had failed. SBS News understands that rescuers had even come within a 50cm vicinity of Flores before they had to re-evaluate their plans.

Not only were rescuers forced to tunnel beneath debris, but they also navigated highly unstable structures, torrential rain and persistent aftershocks.

Throughout the three-day mission, a telescopic camera was used to maintain ongoing contact with Flores. More than 10 litres of water and liquid nutrients were also transported via a hose through a narrow shaft of debris.

Despite the circumstances, Borgna told SBS News that Flores was in remarkably high spirits.

“He wanted to come out walking, that’s all I can tell you, he didn’t want to come out on a stretcher.”

In a video published by Chilean firefighters in the hours before his rescue, Flores is reportedly shown drawing to pass the time.

When he was finally extricated from the rubble, wearing protective goggles, Borgna recalled.

He stood up in the tunnel, and he came on to our stretcher himself walking. He was in a very good mood.

Minyar Collado from the Costa Rican Red Cross said when rescuers initially discovered Flores, “he asked us not to tell his wife that he was alive, just in case he wouldn’t make it”.

“We were never going to leave him here,” Collado said.

‘A ray of light in the darkness’

Flores’ wife, Gusbimar González, told local media that she was racked with despair during the initial days her husband was missing. The couple have two children, aged eight and 10.

“When I learned he was alive, I saw a ray of light in the darkness,” she said.

A crowd of rescuers wearing red, yellow and camouflage print surround a stretcher. Some have their arms raised in celebration.

Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, also applauded the rescue on social media, saying: “We celebrate the greatness of humanity, when it is united for a single purpose: to save another. Thank you to our rescuers and to the support of the international rescuers.”

Her comments come as Venezuela’s government faces mounting criticism regarding its response to the disaster.

Other rescues — including a three-year-old boy who was found alive after being trapped beneath a collapsed building for six days — have also made headlines. However, experts believe the chance of finding quake survivors will become more unlikely as time passes.

The first 24 hours after a disaster are usually when most rescues occur, with the crucial window around 72 hours. The chances of survival drop with each day if there’s no access to water, among other factors.

“From roughly the 25th hour to the 72nd hour, the rescues become more complex,” Chilean rescuer Exequiel Gallardo told Reuters news agency.

“That’s when international rescue teams like ours come in to assist, carrying out breaching operations and accessing victims who are not as easy to reach.

“After the 72nd hour, the rescues become extremely difficult. After the fifth day, they are even referred to as ‘miracle rescues.’ It is very rare to find people alive after so many days, yet we are still here working to rescue this trapped person.”

According to the latest Venezuelan government figures, at least 2,295 people have died since the June earthquakes. Tens of thousands remain missing.

As the death toll continues to mount, Venezuelan authorities are now confronting a new challenge — recovering, identifying and burying thousands of victims.

That reality has overwhelmed Venezuela’s forensic system, with temporary morgues established, including in the port city of La Guardia.

The Good Morning America team has unveiled exclusive details about the secretive wedding reception of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, highlighting a performance by Stevie Nicks and stunning decorative arrangements that left guests in awe.

George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, and Michael Strahan eagerly shared insights into the high-profile event, considered this year’s most spectacular wedding. Despite the heavy secrecy, details about Swift’s wedding gown remain under wraps.

Anticipation and intrigue surrounded the celebration as fans noticed mysterious labeled boxes entering Madison Square Garden ahead of the big day. The GMA hosts have now confirmed that a garden theme brought the venue to life.

“It was really this garden inside The Garden,” Stephanopoulos shared on Saturday’s Good Morning America. “It was just so beautiful.”

His co-host Robin Roberts added, “We can confirm that Stevie Nicks performed.”

Roberts and Stephanopoulos both agreed that despite the large guest list, the ceremony was ‘intimate.’

‘It’s hard to imagine that a place that big, and a wedding with such stars, could feel so personal and so intimate,’ Stephanopoulos said.

The hosts of Good Morning America, including George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts, said Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding was ‘intimate’ and ‘beautiful’

‘It was their dream wedding,’ Michael Strahan agreed. ‘It really was amazing… Thank you for inviting us.’

Roberts particularly liked the newlyweds’ vows, saying they were great.

‘They both wrote their own vows,’ she said, adding that it was ‘like any wedding you would attend.’

AMC CEO Adam Aron agreed that the vows were ‘long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent, and endearing,’ in a now-deleted X post.

‘What was clear above all else was simply this: their profound love. This is no small love. Each at the absolute pinnacle of their worlds. Each so obviously head over heels about having found their soulmate.’

He also agreed with Stephanopoulos that the sports arena ‘did not look like Madison Square Garden.’

‘It was such a privilege to be THERE,’ he wrote.

Swift released her Eras Tour movie in AMC theaters in 2023 in the middle of her record-breaking tour.

The newlyweds kept fans guessing until the very end, refusing to confirm when exactly they would say ‘I Do’, or indeed, if they already had.

But at exactly 7.30pm, the couple shared the news in blockbuster style, lighting up the iconic music venue’s screens with ‘JUST&T MARRIED!’, in a romantic nod to their shared initials.

Both the bride and groom were dressed in Christian Dior, Swift’s publicist later announced.

Adam Sandler was the officiant, and delighted the crowd with a ‘funny’ and ‘touching’ service.

‘It was very funny, quite a long speech. I think everyone had a good time,’ he said.

There were no bridesmaids, instead, Taylor’s brother Austin acted as her ‘man of honor’, and Travis’s brother Jason was the best man.

Jason’s daughters were the flower girls, tossing petals at Taylor’s feet as she made her way down the aisle with a string quartet playing one of her own songs as she made her entrance.

The theme inside Madison Square Garden was an old-fashioned fairground, with guests given a turn on mechanical slot and pinball machines.

Each of the 1,000 – including A-list actress Julia Roberts – was given a ticket during the celebrations, one of which was selected to win a major prize.

After the ceremony came an elegant dinner – before an Alice in Wonderland meets Wizard of Oz themed party on the lower level of the venue.

During the reception, Sir Paul McCartney was the surprise highlight, as the former Beatle stunned the crowd when he came onto the stage and sang I Want to Hold Your Hand.

A guest at the wedding said that the festivities were spectacular and at an unprecedented scale.

As well as a dinner there were food stations around the venue so that guests could top up on food, with one saying that there was some ‘chaos’ around them.

The guest list was a dazzling array of the world’s biggest stars.

Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham and Dakota Johnson were among the bride’s closest friends there.

Steven Spielberg was also in attendance, and Beyonce and Jay Z are also understood to have attended.

There was also Brad Pitt, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Hugh Grant, Graham Norton, Jessica Alba, Tom Brady, Chris Rock and almost every NFL player imaginable.

The guest list also included Ethan Hawke, Nelly, Andrew Scott, Ice Spice, Kareem Hunt and Laura Dern.
