Dramatic US Coast Guard Rescue: Infant, Child Among 8 Saved from Capsized Vessel Near Fort Myers Beach

0

Eight people, including a baby and a young child, owe their lives to the quick response of the U.S. Coast Guard crew from Fort Myers Beach, who acted swiftly after a boat overturned Friday afternoon near Florida’s Sanibel Causeway.

The crew hurried to the scene of the capsized boat, carrying out a well-orchestrated and swift rescue that ensured every individual was safely pulled from the water.

Authorities have applauded the operation’s triumph, attributing the success to the team’s “relentless” commitment to training and effective collaboration.

The U.S. Coast Guard shared photos of the boat nearly completely under water following the swift rescue.

“A successful mission is reflected in the lives safely returned home,” proclaimed U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach in a statement posted on Facebook.

The Coast Guard emphasized the high-stakes rescue serves as a powerful reminder of why its crews train constantly and remain ready to respond at any hour of the day or night.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Tie the Knot at Star-Studded MSG Ceremony with 1,000 Guests

In a spectacular ceremony held at the iconic Madison Square Garden, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce celebrated their union in front of an exclusive audience of 1,000 celebrity guests.

The nuptials were officiated by none other than their friend and popular comedian, Adam Sandler.

Festivities are in full swing at the lavish wedding of the renowned pop singer and Kansas City Chiefs star, with legendary performers such as Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw set to entertain the distinguished assembly.

The bridal entourage, featuring Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham, and the Haim sisters, was seen heading to the event in elegant pink dresses, while the NFL players arrived in classic black tuxedos.

Though the bride has yet to appear, she is maintaining a veil of secrecy around the affair, spending her morning in preparation alongside Hadid.

Hadid’s boyfriend Bradley Cooper, looking dapper in his tuxedo despite the 100-degree heat, escorted the model to the venue before the festivities began.

Selena Gomez, the bridesmaid who peddled her own make-up brand ahead of the couple’s Thursday night celebration, is also yet to be seen.

The couple have welcomed more than 1,000 guests to the arena, including Karlie Kloss, Fergie, Ed Sheeran, Jason Sudeikis, Ellie Goulding, Dakota Johnson, Zoe Kravitz, and Benson Boone.

Mega-watt celebrities Jay Z, accompanied by his daughter Blue Ivy, and Steven Spielberg jetted into the city on helicopters from the Hamptons ahead of the big bash.

Kelce’s NFL star friends also traded their uniforms for bow ties as they walked into the estimated $15 million soiree, which was brought midtown Manhattan to a standstill.

Swifties and onlookers alike gathered outside Madison Square Garden in hope of catching a glimpse of the A-list wedding of the year.

Some celebs seen walking into the venue via security barricades from the street despite the sweltering heat.

A group of guests were even seen removing their tuxedo jackets as they were searched by security.

But the most high-profile guests were ushered through in VIP cars.

Experts revealed that the celebration for the couple, both 36, costs over $15 million, and taxpayers footed over $1 million to help cover the bill.

Ahead of their celebration, Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to 20 charities. The unusually specific number has sparked speculation that it matches the actual cost of their wedding celebrations.

The couple, who have kept the event ultra-secret, required their guests and MSG staff to sign non-disclosure agreements.

The venue has reportedly ‘parted ways’ with workers who violated the agreements, according to Bloomberg reporter Myles Miller.

Everyone entering the venue, including the NYPD officers working the event, have had to store their phones before going inside.

City officials worked alongside the couple with in pulling off the soiree, which has caused street closures. The Empire State Building will also be lit up blue tonight as Swift’s ‘something blue.’

An insider told The New York Times it cost the couple between $1.2 million and $1.6 million to book out Madison Square Garden for two days.

Insurance would cost over $10,000, Erica Maurer, a partner at EMRG Media, told the newspaper.

Lighting, sound, catering, flowers, decorations and labor could cost between $10 million and $12 million, The Times suggested, while adding that their estimate was a very conservative one.

Permit fees for the two-day affair would likely cost at least $132,000 based on the city’s permitting office rates.

It would also cost taxpayers over $1 million to have hundreds of police officers providing security and patrolling MSG.

Photos taken on Friday afternoon showed scores of New York City cops in their uniforms drenched with sweat as they stood guard close to the Garden in 100F heat.

Outsiders were given a few rare glimpses of how the pop singer and the Chiefs tight end transformed the venue into the wedding celebration of their wildest dreams.

Pink, orange and yellow roses were photographed woven into foliage at the top of an escalator on Thursday night.

The venue was lit up with lights and adorned with dusty pink curtains.

It’s been said that Swift built a custom ‘castle’ inside MSG and has supposedly bought every available calla lily in the city.

Lake County Flood Fiasco: Developer Blamed for Homeowner’s Mudslide Misery

A resident of Sorrento is grappling with frequent flooding on her property, an issue she’s never faced until now. She contacted News 6 via the Neighborhood Network, worried that recent developments in the locality might be altering the natural drainage of stormwater.

Consistent rain along Elkridge Road in Sorrento brings a deluge of water onto this homeowner’s land, wreaking havoc on her garden. The problems have already forced her to shell out thousands of dollars to fix the damage.

Resident Betty Jones describes water gushing from the road, depositing mud and causing significant erosion in her yard. “There’s actual clay deposited here from the road base, continually washed away with every rain,” she expressed. The relentless water has carved deep channels across her property.

The inundation has even extended to the backyard, according to Jones. In a bid to minimize the water’s impact, her family has tried placing bricks under their fence.

Footage from Tuesday captures water surging into the property, leaving a trail of muddy disorder. The situation is particularly disheartening for Jones, as she and her husband have spent a large sum readying their home for sale, only to witness all their efforts being washed away by the erosion.

“It’s very hard to try to show a house when you’ve got water coming down the road and flooding the property,” Jones said.

The couple says they’ve lived at the home for 17 years without issues, but problems started earlier this year after nearby development began. Lake County data shows the home sits on the edge of a flood zone, and Jones worries additional development could make the situation worse.

“With just a little bit of rain, we’re getting this much water. I know it’ll be like whitewater rapids,” she said.

Jones said she has contacted the developer, the city of Tavares and other agencies seeking help. News 6 also provided her with information on how to request a flood assessment from Lake County.

Arson Tragedy: Woman Sets Fatal Fire and Shifts Blame to Victims

Inset: Cassandra Brazeal (Grant County Sheriff’s Office). Background: The area near where Brazeal sparked a deadly house fire in Santa Clara, N.M. (Google Maps).

A woman from New Mexico has been sentenced to nearly 40 years in prison after starting a house fire that claimed the lives of two women.

Cassandra Brazeal, aged 36, admitted guilt to two charges of second-degree murder along with one charge of aggravated arson. This plea follows the tragic deaths of Mary Lou Maynes, 78, and Sara Louise Maes, 60.

Brazeal received a 15-year sentence for each murder count and an additional nine years for the arson charge. Grant County District Court Judge James Foy decreed these sentences be served consecutively, amounting to a total of 39 years in prison, the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office stated in a press release. Brazeal must complete at least 85% of her sentence before she can be considered for parole.

The tragic incident unfolded on November 28, 2023, at a residence on West Lincoln Street in Santa Clara, a small village located roughly 9 miles east of Silver City.

A 911 call was placed about a house fire, but by the time fire crews from Santa Clara, Hurley, Fort Bayard and Whiskey Creek arrived, the structure was already engulfed in flames, hindering rescue efforts.

After the inferno was extinguished, crews found Maynes, who had relied on supplemental oxygen, and Maes, dead inside, prosecutors said.

But it was the defendant who sealed her own fate.

In December 2023, Brazeal was arrested by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and detained on an outstanding arrest warrant for harassment in another county, according to prosecutors.

That earlier case was related to threats allegedly made about burning down another woman’s house and street in Albuquerque, some 240 miles north of Santa Clara, according to the Silver City Daily Press.

“While in the Grant County Detention Center, Brazeal was speaking on the phone with an unknown caller, when she was overheard by a detention officer stating, ‘I didn’t mean to kill them’ and ‘They must have spread the fire after I lit it,'” prosecutors said.

The defendant was subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated arson. Under the terms of her plea deal, both homicide counts were downgraded.

In an early motion for pretrial detention, Grant County Deputy District Attorney Tomas Medina alleged Brazeal not only set fire to the victims’ residence, but also sent text messages threatening to burn down the house of her boyfriend, who is a relative of the women.

During her sentencing hearing, Judge Foy repeatedly said the crimes committed by the defendant were “heinous.”

The court granted Brazeal two years, six months, and 26 days of credit against her sentence for time served in pretrial detention.

Disney Explores America’s Rich Heritage with Fascinating Insights into Yosemite National Park

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (KFSN) — Yosemite National Park is renowned for its breathtaking vistas and rich natural beauty, extending beyond its famous landmarks.

It’s a repository of memories and experiences spanning generations.

Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or embarking on your first visit, there’s always a new discovery awaiting each traveler.

“From skiing to hiking, rock climbing to rafting, the park boasts a plethora of activities,” explains park ranger Mirella Piceno. “Perhaps your niche is joining an art class with the Yosemite Conservancy, uncovering something personal that makes this magnificent park feel truly yours.”

Regarded as the crowning glory of the National Park System, Yosemite attracts an impressive 4 million visitors annually.

Queen Elizabeth II made the voyage to experience it in 1983, but not without a stop at the Ahwahnee, where you too can eat like a queen — just reserve her table.

“It’s the number-one requested table in house,” says Tyler Carter, Assistant General Manager of the Ahwahnee. “Breakfast time, she faced the waterfall because the views are out. It’s right in front of you.”

Who can forget the “queen of talk’s” camping expedition for the 25th and final season of the Oprah Winfrey Show.

If the setting looks familiar, that’s because Disney Imagineers drew inspiration from the Ahwahnee for the Grand Californian and Walt Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Lodge.

Renowned landscape photographer Ansel Adams was instrumental in conservation efforts of the national park.

“It’s interesting — he grew up in San Francisco, in the city, came out here and really didn’t want to be a photographer,” says park ranger Scott Gediman. “He just stumbled onto it. He wanted to be a piano player.”

Yosemite’s breathtaking views would change that.

Piceno says that’s why experiences including the “Every Kid Outdoors Program” will likely shape the next generation of conservationists.

“When you build experiences young in the outdoors with our national park sites, it builds this amazing sense of ownership, of stewardship, of belonging,” Piceno said.

If you have a 4th grader in the family, you can get into Yosemite for free. That every kid outdoors program grants any fourth grader a free pass to the national parks.

Deandre Ayton’s Missed Opportunity to Shine with the Lakers

0

The Los Angeles Lakers have just made a significant move to eliminate a major concern.

The issue stood at seven feet tall and tipped the scales at 250 pounds, serving as a notable distraction in the team’s locker room.

Goodbye, Deandre Ayton. The Lakers traded him to the Washington Wizards on Friday, receiving Jaden Hardy and two future second-round choices in 2031 and 2032 in return.

Ayton joined the Lakers as a free agent, aiming to revive a career marred by previous stints in Phoenix and Portland that had left his reputation severely damaged.

Once the celebrated top pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, chosen by the Phoenix Suns ahead of stars like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ayton’s career instead saw a decline. His first seven years in the league were plagued with perceptions of inconsistency and immaturity from both franchises he played for, effectively branding him with a stigma he struggled to shake off.

When Ayton signed with the Lakers in free agency last summer, he had a golden opportunity to start over.
No one in the NBA gets more attention than the 17-time NBA champions, especially when a guy named LeBron James is on the roster.

This was his chance to rewrite his narrative.

Careers are defined by the Lakers. One great stint in Los Angeles can wash away all of the dirt of the past. Look at how Marcus Smart redefined himself this season after his career was in a freefall. Look at how Luke Kennard’s stock skyrocketed after a great first-round playoff series with the purple and gold.

Ayton was well aware of the power of the Lakers.

“I feel like I’ve just been absent for a little bit in this league,” Ayton said during his introductory press conference with the Lakers last July. “…I want to really just show the world and prove to everybody that I am a winner.”

The problem?

The same issues reared their ugly head in Los Angeles as the ones that inspired Phoenix to trade him in 2023 and Portland to buy out his contract for nothing in return last summer.

Ayton is talented.

But his effort flickers like the light of a candle.

He’s prickly with the media. He has outbursts in the locker room. He’s wildly unpredictable. Sometimes he’ll lightheartedly do somersaults around reporters. Sometimes he’ll snap at them.

At first, Ayton struggled to embrace his role with the Lakers. He wanted to be a star but the team needed him to star in his role. There was a palpable power struggle.

He responded to the tension in the worst way possible.

He’d often disengage on the court.

Ironically, never was that more clear than after he shined in a 21-point, 13-rebound performance against the Magic on Feb. 24. As Ayton walked toward the shower after talking to the media, he let it be known that he felt pigeonholed.

“They’re trying to make me Clint Capela,” he said, referring to the Houston Rockets’ backup center. “I’m not no Clint Capela.”

Instead of celebrating the moment, he got in his own way. Instead of proving himself, he shot himself in the foot.

The problem with Ayton is sometimes he plays with force. Other times, he goes through the motions. The difference is stark. It’s obvious to the naked eye. To both high-paid scouts and fans alike.

While a shooter’s slumps can be forgiven, Ayton’s issues were correlated to effort. To something he could control. To something that was inexcusable to let ebb and flow when he was getting paid millions of dollars and representing the Lakers.

Effort is the bare minimum. It’s a requisite. It’s a non-negotiable.

Ayton let it come and go like a feral cat.

He locked in during the Lakers’ 16-2 run last spring. During that period, he was consistent. He was a difference-maker.

“Felt like I picked up my energy and my focus,” Ayton said March 12. “And, you know, I finally caught up with the team. That’s about it.”

But the playoffs were his ultimate test.

And he failed.

The Lakers desperately needed Ayton to be at his best, especially considering Luke Doncic was sidelined the entire postseason because of a hamstring injury and Austin Reaves missed the first four games of the Lakers’ first-round series against the Rockets because of a strained oblique.

But Ayton was inconsistent.

At times he shined, like when he had a 19-point and 10-rebound performance against the Rockets in Game 4 followed by an 18-point and 17-rebound performance in Game 5.

But when the Lakers needed him the most, he had a disappearing act.

Against the Thunder and their monstrous frontcourt, he shriveled.

Ayton averaged just 7.2 points and 7.7 rebounds as the Lakers were swept out of the playoffs. His defense was lackluster. He was a liability on the court.

For the Lakers, enough was enough.

It was time for Ayton to go.

He had his chance to turn things around. He had the opportunity to rehabilitate his name. All he had to do was try. All he had to do was pour out his heart onto the court when they needed him most. All his other antics could be forgiven.

But instead of digging his heels into the ground, he collapsed onto his knees.

Now he has been shipped to Washington, the equivalent of basketball Siberia considering the franchise has missed the playoffs seven of the last eight seasons.

And all he has to blame is himself.

Ayton had his chance.

And he blew it.

Australia Sees Surge as Over 25,000 Citizens Join the Ranks of Global Millionaires

0

According to the most recent Global Wealth Report by UBS, a Swiss banking giant, there’s a notable rise in the number of millionaires around the world, yet the gap in wealth inequality continues to widen.

Now in its 17th edition, the report examines the development and allocation of wealth across various markets and regions, covering the United States, sections of Europe, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.

UBS highlights that in 2025, global wealth saw an upturn for the third year in a row. Personal wealth surged by 10.8 percent, more than doubling the growth rates observed in 2024 and 2023, calculated using weighted averages.

Iqbal Khan, who co-leads UBS’s global wealth management, attributes this wealth growth to “changing economic dynamics, technological advancements, and new market opportunities.”

The report also assesses millionaire numbers with the benchmark set at US$1 million, approximately equivalent to $1.4 million. It revealed that the past year saw nearly one million individuals achieving a net worth of seven figures, averaging over 2,600 new millionaires every day.

While the US accounted for almost half of this growth, more than 25,000 Australians also became new millionaires.

However, median wealth — which UBS said is less affected by high earners and thus “known to paint a more accurate picture” — declined in most countries included in the study.

Australia was ranked the third-highest nation for median wealth at approximately US$210,000 ($302,000), behind Luxembourg and Belgium.

Saul Eslake is an independent economist and told ABC News while “the gap between the middle and the wealthiest is widening”, he believes wealth in Australia is more evenly distributed than in other countries.

“By contrast, in the United States, average household wealth is more than 10 times median household wealth. So, yes, wealth is inequitably or at least unequally distributed in Australia, but less unequally than in the United States and a lot of other comparable countries,” Eslake said.

What’s behind this growth?

Being categorised as a millionaire in this study does not necessarily mean that people have millions in the bank.

UBS specified that owner-occupied property (a property purchased by someone with the intention to live in it) represented the single biggest asset for most “everyday” millionaires included in the study.

“In other words, rising property valuations propel many people into millionaire status without any actual increase in their disposable income,” the report said.

A view of Melbourne homes on a cul-de-sac from above.

However, it’s only when a property is sold (and transaction costs are processed) that housing generates liquid wealth.

While the value of owner-occupied properties in Australia has generally increased over the past five years, recent analysis by Domain suggests the housing market could be falling.

This downturn also follows the government’s budget changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax, as well as three consecutive interest rate rises this year.

The report also does not specify how factors such as gender or age impact global wealth.

‘An additional piece of the wealth puzzle’

UBS also analysed what it described as an “additional piece of the wealth puzzle” known as the Gini coefficient. It measures inequality on a scale of zero (where wealth is completely evenly shared) to one (where the richest person has all wealth).

Australia received a Gini coefficient of 0.53 — down from 0.55 in 2024. That means inequality in the country has narrowed over the last year.

Australia was also ranked 52 out of 56 countries, with Slovakia found to have the least wealth inequality in the study. Comparatively, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and South Africa were found to have the most wealth inequality.

The report acknowledged the Gini coefficient can have a “mind of its own”.

“A country can be wealthy and lack equality but also wealthy and quite equal, and vice versa.”

Historic Tall Ships Gather in New Jersey for America’s 250th Celebration Kickoff

A majestic fleet of international tall ships made a notable entrance on New Jersey’s shores this Friday, heralding a rare celebration for America’s 250th anniversary.

Officials and event organizers assembled in Sandy Hook to detail the impressive scale of the historic Sail4th 250 commemoration.

Governor Mikie Sherrill, who once served as a naval officer, stated, “Sandy Hook is where George Washington’s troops forced the British out of New Jersey nearly 250 years ago. This very spot was the departure point for the last British ships of the Revolutionary War.”

This site is also notable for hosting the country’s oldest lighthouse that has been continuously operating since 1764, providing guidance to countless mariners over the centuries.

The area is now preserved as part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, a 27,000-acre national park spanning New York and New Jersey that welcomes more than 9 million visitors annually.

Roughly 20 nations have dispatched their premier tall ships to participate in the celebration, with vessels arriving from as far away as Italy, India, Peru, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

The legendary U.S. Coast Guard cutter Eagle, which was acquired as a war reparation from Nazi Germany, will lead the official parade of ships.

It is the only active square-rigged sailing vessel in federal service and has been sailed by every Coast Guard Academy cadet.

EUROPE’S $116B FIGHTER JET ‘FAILURE’ RAISES FRESH DOUBTS ABOUT ABILITY TO DEFEND ITSELF WITHOUT US

Sherrill said the presence of the international crews represents something far deeper than a simple tourist attraction, noting the event is a testament to the strength of global security alliances.

“America never fights alone because we fight alongside our friends and allies,” Sherrill said. “Today, it’s a joy to be here to celebrate with all of our allies and friends.”

Planning for the monumental maritime review has been underway since April 2020, when organizers first began coordinating with foreign military attachés, according to Christopher O’Brien, president of Sail4th 250.

The main festivities will kick off Saturday morning and will include the Tall Ships Parade, International Naval Review and a coordinated International Aerial Review.

“Fifty years ago, people lined the Hudson to cheer [on] hundreds of ships from around the world,” Sherrill said, referring to the country’s 1976 bicentennial celebration. “This week, millions will turn out again for another massive boat parade, united by a shared love of country, pride in our history and hope for the future.”

Newberry Resident Arrested for Discharging Shotgun Indoors

Staff Report

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Authorities took John Joseph Demko Jr., 36, into custody on allegations of firing a shotgun at his back door while under the influence of alcohol.

According to a report from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy, Demko had been in a prolonged argument with his wife throughout the day. Upon returning home, Demko began drinking as he prepared dinner. At some point, the couple separated within the house, after which Demko allegedly armed himself with a 12-gauge shotgun and shot the back door, leaving a hole roughly the size of a golf ball.

After the incident, Demko reportedly left the scene but returned about 10 minutes after deputies arrived. He then surrendered and confessed, saying, “I shot the gun, and I’m wrong.”

Following his Miranda rights being read, Demko reportedly acknowledged that he had previously loaded the shotgun intending to shoot squirrels, and he admitted to firing it within the house.

Demko has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child neglect, and using a firearm under the influence of alcohol. He has no local criminal history, and Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $25,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

4 Vital Exercises to Keep Your Body Youthful After 60

Keep your body vibrant and youthful by seamlessly integrating these beneficial activities into your daily routine.

>

There’s an enduring adage that becomes increasingly relevant as time goes on: Your age is defined by how young you feel. By caring for your body and engaging in regular exercise, you’ll find everyday tasks and activities become much smoother to handle. However, neglecting daily physical activity can lead to a reliance on others as you age. Simple actions like getting in and out of bed, lugging shopping bags, and climbing stairs can evolve into daunting challenges.

But how can you determine if your body truly possesses youthful vigor? We consulted with Jacob Siwicki, the mastermind behind Siwicki Fitness. As a certified NCSF and AFAA specialist, former top Equinox group fitness instructor, Dartmouth economics alumnus, and former Dartmouth football standout, Siwicki was ranked as the leading personal trainer in D.C. in 2021. Featured on FOX 5 DC, he shared with us four essential exercises ideal for those over 60. Mastering these moves means you maintain a youthful essence, so continue your efforts. If you find them challenging, it may be wise to incorporate these exercises into your routine and gradually improve your proficiency.

“These four exercises collectively assess the key attributes that decline most swiftly with age and are vital for everyday functionality: comprehensive body strength, balance and proprioception, hip and shoulder mobility, coordination, and grip strength,” Siwicki explains. “Endurance isn’t included here because it can be developed at any age within weeks. However, the aforementioned qualities diminish slowly over years and equally require time to restore, making them prime indicators of biological youth.”

Brazilian Sit-Rise Test

“Anyone over 60 who scores 8 or higher has full-body mobility, coordination, and strength most 30-year-olds have already lost,” Siwicki says.

  1. Begin standing tall.
  2. Lower to a cross-legged seated position on the mat.
  3. Then, stand back up using as little assistance as possible.
  4. Scored out of 10, you lose a point for each hand, forearm, and knee used along the way.

4 Classic Exercises That Reverse Aging Faster Than Cardio

Single-Leg Balance With Eyes Closed

“Closing the eyes removes the visual stabilizer and forces the inner ear and proprioception system to do all the work,” Siwicki shares. “Most 60-year-olds get 5 to 10 seconds. Holding 30 means the nervous system is still calibrated to a much younger baseline.”

  1. Stand tall on a flat surface with your feet hip-width apart and arms at your sides.
  2. Shift your body weight onto your left foot.
  3. Lift your right foot off the ground.
  4. Activate your core while keeping your shoulders stacked over your ribs and your hips level.
  5. Hold the single-leg balance with your eyes closed for 30 seconds.
  6. Repeat on the other side.

Full Pushups

“Full pushups are a true upper-body strength test. The variation matters because knee pushups remove too much of the core demand to be diagnostic,” Siwicki says.

  1. Start with a high plank with hands under your shoulders and your body straight.
  2. Bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the floor.
  3. Maintain a long, straight body as you lower.
  4. Press back up, straightening your arms.
  5. Women should aim for 5 full pushups while men should aim for 10.

Dead Hang From Pull-Up Bar

“Grip strength is one of the most reliable predictors of longevity in the research, and the hang also tests shoulder integrity, scapular stability, and core engagement under load. If someone can hang for 30 seconds at 65+, their upper body is functionally intact,” Siwicki explains.

  1. Hold onto a pull-up bar with an overhand grip.
  2. Allow your body to completely hang with arms extended and feet off the floor.
  3. Hang onto the bar for 30 seconds.
