Taxi Journey of Deceased Fitness Trainer Emerges as Critical Clue in Enigmatic Disappearance and Death Investigation

0

An incident report recently acquired by our newsroom reveals the last known activities of a South Carolina fitness trainer who vanished mysteriously.

Elena Katherine Moore, aged 39, was discovered deceased nearly a week following her disappearance on June 11. Her last known location was a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, South Carolina. According to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, a forensic autopsy performed on June 22 found no evidence of bruises, cuts, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt force injuries, strangulation, or other external trauma.

Although the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is still probing into the circumstances surrounding Moore’s death, an incident report accessed by our team provides insight into the timeline of her disappearance.

On June 12, Moore’s husband, Brannon Slice, filed a missing person report with the Lexington Police Department. He informed authorities that she had been discharged from an undisclosed facility on June 11, shortly before 2 p.m. While the specific facility’s name is redacted in the report, Sondra Campbell, a close friend of Moore’s, disclosed to our newsroom that she had been discharged from a mental health facility at that time.

According to the incident report, someone arranged a taxi for Moore after her release, and she asked the driver to stop at a local CVS in Lexington. That stop was the last time the cab driver saw her. When Moore did not return outside, the driver went into the store but was unable to locate her.

Slice told the officer he want to the Planet Fitness where she frequently visited, where an employee told him that Moore singed in at 6:38 p.m. on the 11th. After that, Moore wasn’t seen again and was found dead on June 19.

No one, including her husband, has been accused of any wrongdoing or charged with a crime. Lexington Police Department Inspector Missy Silcox told Newsweek late Tuesday that Slice “is not a person of interest at the current moment.”

Sondra Campbell, who was close friends with Moore, previously told News Media that Moore tried to leave the relationship in the past.

Campbell said that something felt “very different” the last time she saw her on May 31.

“She was scared for her life. She actually said those words to me,” Campbell said. “Elena is one of my best friends. I’ve known her over probably 10 years now. We’re really close like tell each other everything. She’s been that person for me for a long time.”

According to LPD Chief Terrence Green, authorities found the body after getting a tip that led investigators to a new search location.

Moore was last seen walking through the Publix parking lot at 100 Old Cherokee Road in Lexington on the night of June 11.

Inside JFK Jr and Carolyn’s Wedding: What Really Happened According to the Planner

0

Have countless Swifties, alongside the worldwide media and countless Americans overwhelmed by nonstop updates, misconceived the forthcoming Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce nuptials?

For several months, avid journalists, online detectives, and devoted fans have been deciphering clues, unearthing hidden messages, and speculating on when and where this globally renowned pop icon would tie the knot.

Could the event take place at Swift’s lavish estate in Rhode Island? Perhaps in Kelce’s beloved Kansas City? Or maybe Nashville or the picturesque Upstate New York?

The collective predictions kicked off under the assumption that the couple would treat the date and location with utmost confidentiality, sharing details strictly on a need-to-know basis, probably only revealing them post-celebration.

Thus, when headlines suggested that Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden would be the wedding venue, nearly everyone suspected it to be a diversion tactic.

A decoy. Misdirection!

Now, it is confirmed that Swift and Kelce are transforming the iconic NYC arena into a fairy-tale setting of their own design for an event on Friday evening. Could it be that this celebration was never intended to be so secret?

‘They could have a private wedding if they wanted to,’ RoseMarie Terenzio, longtime personal assistant to JFK Jr who helped masterminded the Kennedy’s heir’s famously clandestine wedding to Carolyn Bessette 30 years ago this fall, tells the Daily Mail. ‘My sense is that privacy is not their priority.’

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will celebrate their marriage in New York City on Friday

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will celebrate their marriage in New York City on Friday

Terenzio knows a few things about confidentiality.

In 1996, she orchestrated the secretive Kennedy-Bessette affair, held on the tiny, secluded Cumberland Island off the coast of Georgia. ‘It was very DIY, with no formal wedding planner, just lots of help from Caroline’s friends,’ says Terenzio, author of JFK Jr: An Intimate Oral Biography.

There were no printed invitations. JFK Jr didn’t have a publicist. As a precaution, Terenzio and Bessette Xeroxed the wedding programs themselves, not trusting the task to a professional printer, staying up late one night drinking diet cokes and smoking cigarettes to get the job done.

Terenzio does not claim to know if Swift’s public relations team intentionally planted false rumors of alternate wedding venues, but she certainly did, leaving bogus Ireland honeymoon itineraries around the office of George – the lifestyle magazine founded by JFK Jr’s.

Any nosy reporters or leaky staffers would be sent chasing their tails. And the ruse worked. The day after the wedding the Daily News had a reporter on a flight to Dublin.

Terenzio was so committed to stealth that she didn’t even attend the wedding, knowing that her travel may tip off any journalist who may have been keeping tabs on her.

‘It was small, only 40 people, and [Kennedy and Bessette] really thought about what they wanted before they made the decision. It was a discussion between the two of them and their families and what they wanted to do.’

Three decades on, Terenzio recognizes that Swift’s affair – with its reported 1,000-plus guests – is a horse of a different color.

As Terenzio sees it, the MSG festivities will be less a wedding reception, and more a full-scale Taylor and Travis extravaganza.

‘What better place could there be for the pair than MSG,’ she adds. ‘Sports and music, that’s what MSG is known for.’

And why not? With Forbes now estimating Swift’s net worth at more than $2 billion, she can certainly afford it. And leaning into spectacle, rather than secrecy, allows Taylor to do what she has always done best, engage a fanatic fan base.

‘She understands her fanbase better than anyone. She’s very savvy and there’s a connection there that she’s created and maintained over so many years. They are invested in her.’

The Madison Square Garden event, ‘may even be livestreamed. Maybe it’s a concert, maybe it’s some slideshow of the wedding that has already taken place.’

Yes, floats Terenzio, ‘It’s possible they’re actually already married.’

Despite the barricades obstructed outside of MSG, she suspects that there may be ‘some sort of watch party’ or organized public gathering over the weekend.

Fans were the last thing JFK Jr and Bessette were looking for at their wedding in Georgia. They wanted an interruption-proof, paparazzi-proof, gossip-proof location.

‘They wanted their guests to be invested in keeping their privacy, to feel like they were ‘in on’ keeping the wedding secret,’ Terenzio says.

As a result, there was zero media coverage and no disruptions. Only three official photographs, including an iconic image of JFK Jr kissing Bessette’s hand as they exited the island’s tiny church house.

‘Taylor could have had a private wedding; Taylor could have had any wedding she wanted,’ Terenzio says.

Of course, in the end, the bride gets what she wants.

Stephen Mulhern’s Remarkable Journey: From Teenage Magician to Dancing On Ice Host

When he first captivated audiences as a CITV presenter in the 1990s, Stephen Mulhern emerged as one of television’s most sought-after personalities.

Now a well-established presenter at the age of 46, Stephen began captivating the public’s attention with his childhood passion for magic, slowly climbing the ranks of TV presenting.

His impressive career boasts hosting roles on over 50 different shows, including popular programs such as Catchphrase and Deal Or No Deal, solidifying his status in the entertainment industry alongside some of its most renowned figures.

The combination of Stephen’s remarkable success and unwavering dedication has led to a substantial net worth, which he has wisely turned into a lucrative property empire.

Adding another exciting chapter to his storied career, Stephen is preparing to host Dancing On Ice, where he will team up again with his long-time friend Holly Willoughby. Their paths first crossed on-screen two decades ago, sparking a cherished collaboration.

He has described his new co-star, 42, as a ‘proper mate’ and they have had some wild times together in the past, from snogging to slapping each other.

Now, MailOnline takes a look at how Stephen Mulhern rose to fame from performing magic at Butlin’s to hosting one of the biggest shows on TV and amassing a huge personal fortune.

Early start into entertainment

Stephen learned the tricks of the showbiz trade early on, becoming skilled in a number of talents that helped him on his road to success.

While he now famed for being a TV presenter, Stephen’s first career path was as a magician.

Raised alongside his three siblings in east London, he honed his people skills by working on his father Chris’s market stall.

He previously told the Daily Mail: He said: ‘My family has 100 per cent made me who I am today.

‘When I was helping Dad from the age of 11, I’d arrive at 4am at Petticoat Lane… I do work hard but there are moments when I’m sitting in my dressing room thinking, “This isn’t bad, is it?” I do feel lucky.’

He first took an interest in the art of illusion as a child, learning tricks from his father at the age of 11.

Stephen then began performing at a young age, holding shows for the public during family holidays to Butlins.

Speaking about the experience as a Redcoat, he said: ‘What I have always said about Butlin’s is, and I genuinely believe this, I have friends that go to drama school, I think it gives you the best training ground because you’re in front of an audience straight away, there’s no messing about.’

At the age of 17, Stephen became the youngest ever member of The Magic Circle – an organisation dedicated to promoting and advancing the art of magic.

However, he found himself temporarily suspended from the club after he broke one of The Magic Circle’s most sacredly kept rules – revealing how a trick is performed – while he was hosting Finger Tips on CITV.

After leaving school, Stephen created his own magic show called Stephen’s Mega Mad Magic Show and won TV’s Big Big Talent Show, which secured him a slot on the 1997 Royal Variety Performance.

He then scored jobs at the Disney Channel and went on to host a number of magic shows, including Quick Trick Show, Tricky TV and Magic Numbers.

Stephen still enjoys performing live magic too, regularly returning to Butlin’s to perform three shows a day to packed-out crowds, insisting there is no better training than being faced with a live audience.

He explained: ‘Some people ask why I still do that, but it keeps me fresh, I enjoy it, and I learn more material for other shows because I know when those little nuggets hit home.’

He added: ‘Funnily enough I was chatting about this recently with Bradley Walsh. He said we were the last two standing who can go out, actually perform an act and hold an audience: I’ve got my own stage show, he does his own stage show too. I consider myself lucky that I get to do both.’

What few people know is that Stephen has other strings to his bow: he’s also a talented musician, proficient at violin and piano.

He said: ‘I’ve never spoken about this before, but when I was 11 Jean-Michel Jarre played a concert in Docklands, and I accompanied him on the violin while he played the keyboard.’

He took up the piano aged 11, and revealed his new home now houses a white grand piano, explained: ‘I used to love John Lennon, and on one of his record covers he had a white grand piano.

‘I always said to my mum and dad that if I was ever lucky enough to get some money from work, the one thing I was going to do was buy a grand piano. And I have.’

Impressive career

Stephen began his career on CITV in 1998, and worked on children’s TV show Finger Tips with Fearne Cotton from 2001 to 2004.

He also enjoyed a solo presenting stint with children’s show Tricky TV from 2005 to 2010 and co-hosted Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown (originally called Ministry of Mayhem) with Holly in the Noughties.

He made the leap to adults TV in 2006 when he presented the ITV2 spin-off Dancing on Ice: Defrosted, while former co-host Holly and Phillip Schofield hosted the main show.

Stephen reunited with the pair when he presented inside The Hub, a small segment on This Morning and has also stood in for the regular presenters occasionally.

He landed another spin-off in 2007, hosting ITV2 spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent, while the main show was presented by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

He also narrated the ITV entertainment show Animals Do the Funniest Things from 2009 to 2011, while his first primetime hosting gig came in 2010 when he fronted Magic Numbers.

Three years later Stephen landed the role of host on the revived version of ITV game show Catchphrase, which he has helmed for a decade.

Other notable shows presented by Stephen include Big Star’s Little Star, Sunday Side Up, Pick Me!, Get Your Act Together, Go for It, The Next Great Magician and panel show Reality Bites.

He soon nabbed more work with Ant and Dec, who are both longstanding friends of Stephen since their early days in children’s TV, after they met at Butlin’s.

In 2016 he took over as the presenter of the Ant vs Dec segment on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Another segment he hosted on the show, In For A Penny, went on to land its own stand alone show, with Stephen at the helm.

Describing his bond with the Geordie duo, Stephen said: ‘We have a lot of fun. People forget that we’ve known each other for decades. I don’t think any of us could say anything to each other that would offend us. There’s a trust there.’

Their unshakeable bond has been cemented by the fact that Stephen now lives not far from them in south-west London. ‘We can easily just pop round to each other’s places, which is great,’ he says.

As well as TV work, Stephen hosted Sunday Mornings on Heart Radio with Emma Willis for six years until 2018 and is a regular stand-in on Virgin Radio UK.

Last year saw him take on his biggest job yet, as the new host of the rebooted Deal or No Deal, taking over Noel Edmonds’ role.

Stephen has described Holly as a ‘proper mate’ and they have had some wild times together in the past, from snogging to slapping each other.

The pair first worked together on CITV show Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown, originally Ministry Of Mayhem, from January 2004 to 2006.

One of the programme’s most enduring viral moments was a bizarre exchange which saw Stephen kiss his co-presenter on the lips a total of five times.

The festive skit saw Holly open a present on the request of Stephen, containing a Christmas hat with mistletoe dangling from the front.

Holly reacted: ‘Hooray for me! I can kiss all the boys in the world all the time’. but after Stephen went in for a smooch himself she said: ‘You don’t count.’

However, the Catchphrase star said that ‘whoever you’re underneath the mistletoe with, you must kiss’ and delivered another peck.

Eventually growing frustrated with her new-found attention, Holly removed the hat and declared that her colleague was ‘definitely on the naughty list’.

Another wild moment from the show saw Holly smack her co-host round the face for jokingly insulting her game-show alter ego Polly.

She could not contain her excitement after a stunned studio audience were left deciding whether to laugh or gasp – but Stephen took it well.

The two have been firm friends for two decades ever since and it was not just the time on-screen that they shared.

Holly reflected on her time presenting children’s TV, telling Mail On Sunday’s Live magazine in 2019: ‘There were times when we went straight from the hotel bar to going live on air.

‘Everyone in children’s TV drinks until 5am. If you mess up, no one cares. It got a bit too wild when my breast popped out of my dress.

‘It doesn’t help when you read the script and you’ve got to drink anchovies in custard with some eight year old. No matter how hard you scrub in the shower, you can’t get the smell of custard pie off your skin.’

In the years since, the pair have occasionally crossed paths on shows such as Celebrity Juice and This Morning.

In 2014, Stephen lifted the lid on his close decade-long friendship with his former co-presenter in an interview with The Sun.

The star revealed he goes to Holly for advice if he’s got a problem and he praised her as a ‘proper mate’.

He told the publication: ‘Ant and Dec, Emma Willis and Holly Willoughby are proper mates. But that’s about it.

‘If I had a problem I’d go to Holly, and if I want advice that makes no sense and probably makes things worse, I’ll ask Ant and Dec.’

Multimillion pound fortune

Stephen’s impressive career has helped him build a huge fortune and multimillion property empire.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, he is reported to have a net worth of $3million, roughly £2,600,000.

He is said to have made £800,000 in 2021 – despite the pandemic causing disruption to TV schedules – taking his personal wealth to nearly £5million.

The whopping figure means that he earned more than £2,000 a day and saw his assets rise to £4.91million in the year ending February 2022.

Stephen has also invested heavily in real estate, believed to own at least six properties around the country.

He has reportedly invested at least £2.2 million into buy-to-let properties, that are now estimated to have a combined worth of around £7 million.

He owns property firm JFDI Productions, which Land Registry files show have bought houses in South Leicester and Essex in 2019, as well as two flats in South West London and another in Essex between 2015 and 2020.

Stephen’s sixth property is his current home in London, which he bought for £910,000 in 2013.

Choosing career over love

Stephen’s success has maybe come at a price, as he’s admitted previously to not having much of a dating life as he spends all his time focused on his career.

He is famously tight-lipped about his private life, but is believed to be single and has never married.

In 2018, Stephen told Celebs Now: ‘Last time I went on a date was about four years ago. That makes me sound really sad! I need a life. I need to stop working so much.’

His only known romance was with EastEnders star Emma Barton, who he met while starring in a pantomime production of Snow White in 2008.

The couple kept their relationship out of the public eye and dated for three years, before splitting in 2011, reportedly on amicable terms.

Dancing On Ice

Last month it was announced that Stephen has taken on the coveted role as co-host of Dancing On Ice.

He is replacing Phillip Scofield in the role, opposite regular presenter Holly, after admitting that it would be ‘amazing’ to front the show.

Stephen emerged as the frontrunner to take the job early, as he presented ITV2 spinoff series Defrosted for a year back in 2006,

He also knows the job already, as he stood in for Phillip on the main show back in 2022, when the presenter fell ill with Covid.

Ahead of his confirmation as the permanent new host, Stephen admitted he was in talks to take the job and gushed that it would be a ‘great time’ to reunite with Holly.

He told MailOnline: ‘I used to do the spinoff show Defrosted and when I stood in for Phil when he wasn’t too well, he had Covid, I really enjoyed it and it was so lovely being back with Holly.

‘We had a great time together plus lots of the team were the same from when I did the ITV2 show.

‘The lineup is the best it has been in a few years… I am keeping across the lineup, just in case… It is a huge staple, and it has been around.’

Having hosted Dancing On Ice with Holly for the past 12 series, Phillip will no longer be involved with the programme after being axed from all his roles on ITV earlier this year.

The channel fired him after he admitted to lying about a romantic relationship he had with a former younger colleague, immediately ending his contract at This Morning.

Holly has presented the show from its inception in 2006 until 2011, before Christine Lampard took over for the next three series until the show ended in 2014.

The series was then revived by ITV in 2018, with both Holly and Phillip returning as hosts up until this year.

However, her future on the show had been thrown into doubt after she stepped down from This Morning after finally being ‘tipped over the edge’ by an alleged ‘kidnap and murder plot’.

This weekend, one of Holly’s friends told MailOnline that having Stephen join the show helped Holly make the decision to return.

They said: ‘It really made a difference to Holly’s mindset to know that Stephen would be with her all of the way. It has really made her smile.

‘When you have that much history with someone you feel safe. The last year has been a huge change for her. For years and years, Phil was with her and suddenly he was gone.

‘To be working with Stephen again at such a poignant time in her career is special for Holly. Whether she went back to Dancing On Ice was a quandary for Holly, some gentle persuasion from Stephen definitely helped to seal the deal.’

Stars preparing to take on the ice challenge this year include former Love Island winner and West End performer Amber Davies, ex-professional boxer Ricky Hatton, actress Claire Sweeney, Corrie star Ryan Thomas, radio DJ Adele Roberts, and S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt.

EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood, Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire, Olympian Greg Rutherford, ski jumper Eddie the Eagle, comedian Lou Sanders and Emmerdale’s Roxy Shahidi complete the lineup.

FBI Continues Probe into Authenticity of Ransom Notes in Nancy Guthrie Case

The FBI announced on Wednesday that several ransom notes linked to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance are being dismissed as extortion attempts. Nevertheless, the agency continues to assess other notes that could potentially be authentic.

While the FBI refrained from disclosing the exact number of ransom notes they’ve obtained, they confirmed receiving “several.”

In their official statement, the FBI affirmed that they are handling this situation as a kidnapping for ransom investigation.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is also actively involved in probing the case. Despite choosing not to comment on the ransom notes on Wednesday, they emphasized that every lead in the inquiry is being pursued with utmost seriousness.

According to Tucson’s KOLD TV station, they came into possession of two notes—one demanding a hefty sum in Bitcoin for Guthrie’s safe return and another ominously stating that she had passed away. TMZ has also reportedly received a note.

Guthrie is the mother of longtime “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. Authorities believe she was kidnapped, abducted or otherwise taken against her will on Feb. 1. They found blood near the front doorstep of her home just outside Tucson, and the FBI later released surveillance videos showing a masked man on the porch that night.

Volunteers and search teams scoured the nearby desert terrain filled with cactuses, bushes and boulders in the weeks after she vanished. A volunteer group recently conducted a search for her body near the Arizona-Mexico border.

Solomon Buchi Criticizes Carter Efe’s Viral Akara Video, Labels Him an ‘Established Olodo

  • Solomon Buchi reacted to a viral video of entertainer Carter Efe selling akara on the street.

The video showcases Carter Efe interacting with the local community in a lighthearted manner, wholeheartedly embracing the hustle culture—a theme that resonates deeply with many onlookers.

The engaging content struck a chord with a wide audience, capturing the essence of hustle culture and reflecting the regional economic challenges through humor and community interaction.

Media personality and public commentator Solomon Buchi has recently ignited new discussions online with his response to a viral video that features entertainer Carter Efe. The footage uniquely captures Efe in a street-side scene, selling akara, a popular local delicacy.

As it made its rounds on various social media channels, the video quickly gained traction. Numerous viewers not only found it highly entertaining and relatable but also saw it as a candid portrayal of the everyday economic struggles many face.

Reacting to the clip, Solomon Buchi expressed a rather pessimistic view about the nation’s direction, suggesting that Nigeria’s challenges may persist for a long time. In his words, he stated:

“Carter Efe is an established Olodo, Nigerians crack jokes with serious issues and the political leaders can believe their luck with a spineless people like us.”

As reactions continue to pour in, Solomon Buchi’s statement has once again highlighted the ongoing clash between humor and seriousness in Nigerian digital culture, where entertainment and social commentary often intersect.

Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Eight Monks in Thailand as Truck Driven by 11-Year-Old Crashes into Pilgrimage Group

0

In northeastern Thailand, a tragic incident occurred on Thursday when an 11-year-old boy drove a pickup truck into a cluster of monks engaged in a pilgrimage. The crash resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, according to official sources.

The pilgrimage involved 35 monks from Mukdahan province, positioned roughly 600 kilometers from Bangkok. They had embarked on a spiritual journey across the region.

Mukdahan’s Governor, Worrayan Boonnarat, reported that five monks lost their lives instantly at the scene, while three more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Additionally, fourteen other monks sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital, with four listed in critical condition.

This expedition began only half an hour prior to the accident, covering a 260-kilometer path from Mukdahan to Ubon Ratchathani province.

Security camera footage shared by a local rescue group, Ruam Jai Mukdahan Rescue Association, shows the monks walking in a single line on the side of a road before the truck crashes into them.

Local police said the boy is now in custody and will be questioned when state child protection officers arrive.

The police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but said they were told by the monks that they saw the vehicle swerving before it slid off the road and crashed into the group.

Heatwave Alert: Scorching Temperatures Predicted for Fourth of July Weekend

SAVANNAH, Ga () – Good morning! This is StormTeam 3 Meteorologist Alysa Carsley, wishing you a fantastic Thursday!

Today kicked off with temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to the low 70s. Underneath a blend of sunshine and clouds, the temperatures will climb to a seasonally warm zone, reaching the low to mid 90s. The weather will echo yesterday’s conditions, being hot yet less humid compared to earlier this week, thanks to high pressure ushering in drier air and lowering the dewpoints. It’s anticipated to stay dry as well.

As we wrap up the work week and head into the holiday weekend, expect temperatures to escalate into the mid to upper 90s. While mostly dry conditions will prevail, the high pressure system will slowly drift off the East Coast. During the afternoon, the heat index could hit triple digits, soaring up to 105°.

This 4th of July could be as sizzling as the fireworks with record-challenging temperatures! The historic high for Independence Day in Savannah stands at 99°, noted in 1931, 1954, 1979, and 1997. We’re forecasting highs in the upper 90s, with heat index readings hovering between 105-110°. It’s crucial to stay hydrated and find ways to keep cool!

A few afternoon storms might come with strong gusty winds. However, by Saturday evening, when it’s time for fireworks, the storms should taper off. Post-sunset, temperatures will dip into the low 80s, although it will remain humid with a heat index in the lower 90s.

Starting Sunday through next week, hit-or-miss storms will be back in the forecast with high temperatures in the mid 90s.

Vulnerable Zones Pose Major Security Concerns for America 250 Fourth of July Celebrations

0

As America prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary this weekend, security agencies are on high alert for potential threats targeting Independence Day festivities and parade attendees.

This vigilance extends to the Salute to America 250 Celebration and Fireworks in Washington, D.C., touted by the White House as “one of the most magnificent expressions of patriotism ever witnessed in the world.”

An anticipated audience of over a million is expected to converge on the National Mall, eager to hear President Donald Trump’s address and witness “the largest pyrotechnic display in history,” as per the White House.

Jason Pack, a retired supervisory special agent with the FBI, told News Media agencies have likely been preparing and coordinating for the event for weeks, if not months.

“It’s a whole of government approach, not just one agency,” Pack said. “That’s really important because that’s how in the past [threats] were stovepiped and could have gotten missed.”

He said he has not heard of any specific threats, but anything is possible.

“Given it’s the Fourth of July, which is a holiday that’s so special to the country, there’s no doubt that someone would want to,” Pack said.

While there will be heightened security in our nation’s capital with millions of spectators expected to descend on D.C., experts say it’s important to understand that smaller-scale events will also likely have amplified security.

Recall in 2022, a mass shooter opened fire on July Fourth parade-goers in Highland Park, Illinois.

Robert Crimo III was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole after court documents say he climbed on a roof above the parade and opened fire on spectators with a an assault rifle; seven people were killed and 48 others injured .

Fox News Contributor and former NYPD Legal Bureau Commanding Officer Paul Mauro told News Media that it’s imperative for local law enforcement to have safeguards in place to prevent tragedies.

Mauro urged small cities and governments to communicate with larger agencies.

He said, “Don’t be afraid to ask the FBI office. Don’t be afraid to talk to Homeland Security. They’re there for that. Everybody is hyper aware of the fact that this is an iconic anniversary.”

Mauro also said mass shootings are not the only risk to public safety.

In 2021, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Darrell Edward Brooks Jr. drove an SUV into crowds of people at the Waukesha Christmas parade. Six people were killed and more than 60 others were injured.

Brooks Jr. is currently serving six consecutive life sentences. Mauro said that small towns, like Waukesha, and their police departments need to accept that terrorist attacks or similar incidents could happen in their communities.

He said the first step in preparing for such threats is acknowledging the possibility, rather than assuming “it could never happen here.”

Once agencies recognize the risk, they can begin implementing appropriate security and preparedness measures.

Another example of attack by vehicle-ramming during a community celebration happened in 2017.

Sayfullo Saipov from Uzbekistan killed eight people and injured nearly 20 more when he rammed a truck into crowds of people at a Halloween parade in New York City. His devotion to ISIS was his alleged motive, the DOJ said; he’s currently serving eight life sentences in federal prison.

While the truck ramming resulted in those eight lives lost, Mauro said the attack could have resulted in significantly more deaths.

He said that while serving in the NYPD Intelligence Bureau’s counterterrorism unit, officials anticipated the possible vehicle-ramming attack. As a result, they hardened vulnerable parade routes by placing sanitation trucks and other heavy vehicles as barriers.

Saipov, who had rented a truck and planned to target a Manhattan parade, found the route blocked by these barriers and abandoned that plan. Instead, Mauro said, he drove along the West Side Highway in New York City, where he carried out a vehicle attack before being stopped after crashing into a school bus.

Mauro argued that because the attacker had no prior criminal or intelligence indicators, he was difficult to detect in advance.

Sayfullo Saipov, the Uzbek man charged with using a truck to kill eight people on a Manhattan bike path on Halloween in 2017, listens to testimony from New York City Police (NYPD) officer Ryan Nash at his federal trial in New York City, U.S., Jan. 9, 2023 in this courtroom sketch.

He concluded that acknowledging the threat and implementing physical security measures prevented a much deadlier attack at the parade.

Saipov is accused of killing eight people and injuring 12 in lower Manhattan on Oct. 31.

Looking ahead, one way that federal agencies and local police work together to thwart premeditated or organized attacks comes from the help of fusion centers, Pack said.

“Fusion centers” are located in various cities and larger urban areas “for the receipt, analysis, gathering and sharing of threat-related information between State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT), federal and private sector partners,” according to Homeland Security.

Police Report: Infant Found Deceased After Being Left Unattended During Mother’s Work Hours

An Alabama mother now faces charges of child abuse after a heartbreaking discovery. Police allege that she left her infant son unattended at home while she went to work, and tragically returned to find him deceased.

Mom allegedly left baby home alone

Ja’Keisa Knox, 29, remains in custody at the Tuscaloosa County Jail following her arrest on Tuesday. That day, she encountered an unimaginable tragedy: her 9-month-old son was found lifeless in their home. According to WBRC, a local Fox affiliate, Knox called the police at 4 p.m. on Tuesday after discovering her baby unresponsive upon returning from work—a discovery that unraveled the distressing series of events.

In conversations with deputies from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Knox reportedly admitted that she had left her apartment at 8 a.m. This timeline suggests the baby was alone for approximately eight hours. Authorities confirmed that Knox claimed to be the child’s sole guardian, and no one else was assigned the responsibility of caring for him during her absence.

The incident took place in a neighborhood that now bears a spotlight due to this tragic event. This brings a somber note to the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area, visualized in part by the imagery of local landscapes juxtaposed with Knox’s booking photo from the sheriff’s office.

Knox reportedly told deputies with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office that she left her apartment at 8 a.m., indicating that the baby was allegedly alone in the home for eight hours. According to police, Knox confirmed she was the sole guardian of the baby, and no one else was expected to come care for him while she was gone.

Tuscaloosa News reported that the baby was brought to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Medical staff at the hospital told police that they observed several injuries on the boy, who was also malnourished and underweight. The discovery prompted a call to the sheriff’s Violent Crimes Unit, which is also participating in the baby’s death investigation.

Knox was charged with child abuse, and authorities said additional charges may be added depending on the results of the baby’s autopsy. She is being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond. Her next court date was not immediately available.
