Taylor Swift’s Wedding Couture: Unveiling Her Five Spectacular Dresses and Their Elite Designers

0

A well-placed source has verified that the speculation holds true—Taylor Swift will tie the knot on July 3, and she’s not opting for just one legendary bridal dress.

The music icon will actually display an impressive array of five different outfits throughout the day, our insider revealed, with one of them reportedly being a creation from Ralph Lauren.

While the thought of multiple high-fashion ensembles seems to naturally align with Anna Wintour’s seal of approval, it’s anticipated that Swift will reveal her wedding looks through her own social media. She commands a staggering 273 million followers there, surpassing Vogue’s solid 51 million on Instagram.

For many celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Sofia Richie, and Jennifer Lopez, showcasing their wedding couture in a Vogue feature is almost a rite of passage.

Nevertheless, the singer of “Cruel Summer” is famed for her intimate connection with her dedicated fanbase, affectionately known as the Swifties, making a direct engagement with them seem more fitting.

Now, as the Shake It Off singer prepares for her upcoming wedding to Travis Kelce, rumors are running rampant about the designers she could possibly wear for her big day.

Ralph Lauren and Dior look like the most likely picks, but with three other options, it’s possible Swift will opt for her go-to brands below.

The Daily Mail has uncovered the rumored designers she will don, as well as exactly how her family is prepping for the big day.

When Kelce proposed on August 10, 2025 in a sweet secret garden, Swift wore a $400 striped Ralph Lauren sundress that instantly sold out. Now, her ensemble seemingly hints at one of her wedding outfits.

Swift has worn the all-American brand many times, and even more in recent days.

As the songstress hit Oh, Mary! in June, she opted to dress for an entirely different season when she wore a velvet scoop neck tank dress from the brand.

She specifically rolled out pieces from the Olympics collection, including the Team USA Polo Bear tee, the Team USA jacket and a flag sweater.

She has also opted for cozy classic pieces, like a cashmere cable-knit in 2011 and then again in 2025.

Even Kelce is a fan of the brand. He wore a vintage fleece logo sweatshirt on his podcast New Heights, which Swift seems to have stolen for an Instagram video.

Swift has hinted that one of the gowns will be designed by Jonathan Anderson at Dior after repeatedly stepping out wearing the French fashion house’s most recognizable new handbags. Fans quickly became convinced that Swift was dropping Easter eggs about her upcoming wedding gown.

The switch-up has been a massive surprise to longtime supporters, as Swift often carries more accessible bags or classic black and brown options from Louis Vuitton, YSL or Chanel, so it is wildly out of character to opt for bold options like the Small 30 Montaigne Avenue Top Handle Bag ($4,100) and D-Journey Bag ($6,200).

The Hollywood Reporter seemingly confirmed the choice when they wrote that ‘well-placed sources say the winning dress — the dress that will likely transition Taylor Swift to Mrs. Travis Kelce — is a custom couture gown by Jonathan Anderson of Christian Dior.’

A few fans believe Swift potentially gave them a peek of her bridal style at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York City.

The Fortnight singer walked the red carpet in a black strapless Givenchy by Sarah Burton gown embroidered with elaborate flowers and butterflies.

Some Swifties believe she will choose a gown from her longtime friend Stella McCartney’s collection, following in Meghan Markle and Madonna’s footsteps.

Another possibility is Monse, which Swift previously wore to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The designers behind the New York-based luxury label are Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, who left Oscar de la Renta to create their line.

Most meaningfully, she donned a custom dress from the designers when she performed at Tight End University in Nashville.

The year before she wore a short denim dress, which made far more sense for the laid-back occasion. Swifties thought the custom ensemble could hint that she would be working with Oscar alums.

One strong contender would be London-based womenswear designer Clio Peppiatt, whose hand-beaded and embroidered bejeweled mini dresses Swift loves.

The 14-time Grammy winner rocked Clio Peppiatt’s Lucina Dress, which channeled her Midnight era thanks to glittering silver moons and clouds, for her star-studded 34th birthday. The dress retails for $2,485 and helpfully comes in an ivory bridal version. She then donned another Peppiatt party dress on New Year’s Eve.

The dresses proved so popular that Swifties wore them to the Eras Tour en masse, with some women spending hundreds of dollars to rent their outfits for the evening.

The intricate minis have also become a must for glam socialite brides like Daisy Lowe, Alana Hadid and Olivia Culpo when they switch into a thigh-baring party dress.

It’s not just Swift who will be dressing to impress.

A separate source told the Daily Mail that her longtime stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer ‘worked with family on their outfits for the wedding.’

Swift has been working with him since she first hit the Nashville scene, so it makes sense that he would outfit the entire family – and Kelce’s close-knit clan.

The insider revealed that the entire family on both sides will be splashing out, with a few borrowing jewels and getting custom fittings. Some family members have even been flying to New York City for their fittings.

There are also rumors that Kelce could potentially wear all-American brand Tommy Hilfiger after modeling their wares in Central Park.

No matter what brand he opts for, it’s likely he’ll look for something timeless.

Tom Marchitelli of Gentleman’s Playbook, who has designed 25 of Kelce’s suits over the last decade but is not involved with the wedding look, told the Daily Mail, ‘A celebrity wedding of this magnitude has all the major fashion houses battling it out to see who can get their label on the three-time Super Bowl champ.’

Marchitelli believes Kelce will opt for ‘bespoke Louis Vuitton,’ an opinion based on experience. He has visited Kansas City many times and been inside Kelce’s closet, explaining he has ‘always had an affinity for the brand, both in footwear and apparel.’

The designer thinks he will opt for a classic black ‘slightly fuller-cut double-breasted tux, crisp white shirt, and black bow tie, finished off with a diamond lapel pin’ to give the Love Story singer her fairytale moment.

Unexpected Turn in Zach Werenski-Blue Jackets Trade Saga

0

The ongoing saga involving Zach Werenski and the Blue Jackets has taken another unexpected turn.

Statements released by defenseman Werenski and Columbus GM Don Waddell on Wednesday aimed to clarify recent developments. They confirmed that Werenski intends to stay with the Blue Jackets, addressing reports that suggested he blocked a trade agreement on Tuesday.

Recently, trade speculations concerning Werenski intensified, linking the Norris Trophy awardee to teams like the Lightning and Maple Leafs. Sportsnet’s NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, revealed a verbal agreement existed for a deal between Columbus and Dallas, which would have seen Werenski join the Stars in exchange for a package that included Thomas Harley.

However, it seems Werenski employed his no-move clause to prevent the trade from moving forward.

In his statement, Waddell sought to provide clarity on the discussions between both parties.

“During those discussions, we talked about me exploring opportunities to move him now and we all agreed if there was a deal to be made that I would bring it to him,” the GM said. “We found something that would work for the club and took it to him. After some time and discussions with his family, Zach informed us that he didn’t want to leave Columbus. He has invested a great deal in this organization and after coming close and falling short the past two seasons, his desire is to win here and get this team back into the playoffs.”

Werenski said he believed “everything got blown out of proportion.”

“I want to win and I want to do that in Columbus…It has been my home for the past 10 years and I have always been proud to be a Blue Jacket,” Werenski said. “I love my teammates and coaches and I’m looking forward to doing everything I can to get us back in the playoffs to compete for a Stanley Cup. Don and I are completely aligned on that.”

Werenski finished the 2025-26 season with 81 points on 59 assists and 22 goals. He became the 10th defenseman in NHL history to lead his team in scoring in consecutive seasons and tied Artemi Panarin’s franchise record for assists in a single season.

On top of that, Werenski also assisted on Jack Hughes’s gold medal-winning goal in the 2026 Winter Olympics.

For now, it appears Werenski remains in Columbus, but the Blue Jackets are now without a captain as Boone Jenner has joined the Capitals.

Costco Credit Card Scam: Two Arrested After Alleged Fraudulent Shopping Spree

0

On Sunday, authorities apprehended two individuals suspected of shoplifting at a Costco, where they allegedly tried to purchase goods using fake credit cards.

The incident, which unfolded around 3 p.m., took place in South Windsor, Connecticut, according to a statement from the South Windsor Police Department (SWPD) issued on Monday.

The duo, identified by police as 35-year-old Brittany A. Howard from the Bronx, New York, and 34-year-old Kasheem M. Williams from Brooklyn, are suspected to be serial shoplifters targeting Costco locations.

The SWPD reported, “Officers were dispatched to Costco at 1220 Tamarack Ave following reports of two individuals actively engaging in theft and attempting to complete transactions at the self-checkout using fraudulent credit cards.”

According to authorities, store staff had been warned that the same suspects had allegedly attempted a similar scheme at a Costco location in Enfield, roughly a 30-minute drive north.

Responding officers later discovered 28 stolen financial documents, all under different names, inside the suspects’ vehicle, along with goods believed to have been stolen from the other Costco location, police said.

After the suspects were taken into custody, authorities said both individuals were found to have active out-of-state warrants.

Williams had an extraditable warrant out of Suffolk County, New York, on multiple charges including burglary, strangulation and assault.

Howard was found to have an extraditable warrant out of Hudson County, New Jersey, on credit card theft charges.

Both suspects now face additional charges, including 28 counts of payment card theft, larceny, identity theft and conspiracy.

Police said the pair were held on $250,000 surety bonds and were scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court Monday morning.

Controversy Unfolds: USA Star Ejected and Mahomes Criticizes Contentious Call

0

In a dramatic turn of events during the USA’s World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, standout player Folarin Balogun was ejected in the second half. The decision came as the US maintained a tenuous 1-0 lead in Santa Clara, igniting widespread controversy.

This dismissal is a significant setback for the USA, as Balogun, who has netted three goals in the tournament thus far, will be absent from Monday’s critical round of 16 clash against Belgium, one of Europe’s formidable teams. Regrettably, FIFA rules out any possibility of appealing against this ruling.

The incident occurred just after Balogun had positioned the USA ahead with his goal before halftime. He became entangled with Bosnian defender Tarik Muharemovic, inadvertently making contact with the back of his opponent’s heel.

Brazilian referee Raphael Claus took a second look at the challenge through the video replay monitors. After reviewing the slow-motion footage, he judged Balogun’s actions as serious foul play, subsequently handing him a straight red card, just past the hour mark.

Balogun appeared visibly shocked by the referee’s decision and had to be comforted by his teammates as he exited the field, leaving the outcome of the game uncertain.

Malik Tilmann later scored a free-kick to double the USA lead and secure a hard-fought 2-0 win but Balogun’s red undoubtedly tarnishes the victory.

Brittany Mahomes, who was a soccer player at college, slammed the red card decision and led the furious backlash online, posting on Instagram: ‘That was some bulls***… All I have to say #USA.’

Her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick, also took to social media to question the decision. ‘Man what……’, he wrote on his X account.

Jason Kelce, preparing for his brother Travis to get married on Friday to Taylor Swift, took time out from wedding planning to vent at the decision.

‘Man, somebody help me. That foul looked incidental from Balogun, shouldn’t a Red Card be given if there is either intention to foul, or an action that is aggressive and unsafe in nature?’ Kelce wrote.

‘Didn’t feel like Balogun was out of control or anything, just looked like it kind of happened.’

Another former NFL star, JJ Watt, was fuming at the decision.

‘Announcers should definitely be informing the audience that Balogun will miss next match, assuming we win tonight. Massive, massive implications there. Huge loss,’ he said, also posting about the decision: ‘You’ve gotta be kidding me….’

Meanwhile, ESPN host Pat McAfee shared a video on social media, as he declared his disbelief at the referee’s decision to send Balogun off.

‘You can’t get a red card for that. Balogun gets red carded?! He’s our goalscorer!’

NFL legend JJ Watt was also quick to jump online and give his reaction. ‘What’s the phone number for the FIFA red card appeal hotline?’, he wrote on social media.

Meanwhile, on FOX’s post-game coverage, legendary soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimovic made sure not to understate how big a loss this could be for the team.

‘I believe it’s a big loss to be honest, he has been one of the best, if not the best player of the US team so far,’ the former Swedish international said on the broadcast.

Thankfully, the decision didn’t have major ramifications in the game itself. Though the USA were down to 10-men for 30 minutes, they held on to secure a historic win.

Not only did they hold on but, shortly after they doubled their advantage through Malik Tillman, who rifled a stunning free-kick into the back of the Bosnian net.

However, while the USA players and coaches soaked up the atmosphere at the final whistle, head coach Pochettino will no doubt have Balogun’s red card on his mind.

It means that the in-form striker will have to sit out of their tie against Belgium on July 6. Back-up striker Ricardo Pepi will likely take his place for the Round of 16 clash.

It was a brutal end to Balogun’s night – and potentially his World Cup – having been the hero for the national side earlier in the night, with his opening goal.

After scoring in the first-half, Balogun produced LeBron James’ ‘Silencer’ celebration – and the NBA legend made sure to make note of it online.

Taking to X, the 41-year-old wrote: ‘LFG!!!!!! THE [Silencer] HAS [landed] at the World Cup! Helluva goal there Young [king]!’.

Transform Your Midsection: Simple Wall Exercises to Firm Apron Belly Beyond Age 60

Shedding apron belly fat demands a comprehensive strategy.

>

If you’re dealing with an apron belly—extra fat and skin hanging over the lower abdomen—you’re certainly not alone. Known medically as an “abdominal pannus,” it often results from factors like pregnancy, genetics, aging, or significant weight fluctuations. While managing it can be challenging, the more pressing concern is the health risks it poses, such as hip and back discomfort, issues with mobility and hygiene, and potential skin irritations or infections.

“It’s crucial to understand that shedding an apron belly is most effective with a combined program, rather than through exercise alone. A balanced plan involves diet optimization and managing cortisol levels through mental health practices. Key exercises, alongside sufficient sleep and hormone regulation through diet, are essential. There are surgical solutions, but you can achieve notable results without them,” shares Luke Lombardo, Director of Fitness at Brain-Body Therapy.

To guide you in the right direction, we recommend four efficient wall exercises that can help tighten apron belly fat more effectively than post-60 gym routines. All you need to embark on this is a wall!

Wall-Assisted Standing March

“This is your crunch relocation without having to do an actual crunch for 60+ and it’s easier on the back and much easier on the neck,” Lombardo says.

  1. Start by leaning against a wall with your back firmly pressed into the surface.
  2. Lift your arms to shoulder level.
  3. Place your feet together.
  4. Slowly begin to “march” in place—alternating between lifting one knee up to chest height, holding for 1 second at the top, then lowering.
  5. Perform 12 to 15 marches, increasing the number of reps by 5 each week.

5 Standing Moves That Shrink Belly Fat Without Getting on the Floor

Wall-Supported Standing Dead Bug

  1. Begin standing tall with your lower back pressed against a wall.
  2. Slowly lift one arm straight overhead while extending the opposite leg forward, keeping it slightly lifted off the floor.
  3. Return to the start position.
  4. Repeat on the other side and continue to alternate.

Wall Sit

  1. Stand tall with your back pressed against a wall and arms extended ahead of you.
  2. Slide down until your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle as if you’re sitting in a chair.
  3. Engage your core.
  4. Hold the position with proper form.

  3. Activate your core.
  4. Drive one knee up to your chest and hold for a moment before lowering.
  5. Continue to alternate sides.

Insights from 30 Years of Australian Property Market Downturns

0

Australia’s housing market is experiencing a decline, but history suggests this is a routine occurrence, according to new insights from Domain.

After the government implemented adjustments to negative gearing and capital gains tax, along with three consecutive interest rate increases this year, housing values in major cities have started to decline.

In such times, both buyers and sellers face uncertainty: How steep will the price drops be? Should sellers delay their plans, or is now the opportune moment for buyers to invest? When will the market hit rock bottom?

Domain’s recent analysis indicates that examining historical data from the last thirty years could offer some clues to these questions.

Just another downturn?

This marks the ninth downturn for the market in three decades, yet Domain’s FY2027 Forecast Report identifies a recurring theme: each of the previous eight slumps was followed by a recovery, with prices eventually reaching new heights.

For prices across the combined capitals to fall back to their previous low in March 2023, they’d need to drop by around 22.8 per cent, the analysis found.

Their current forecast has Sydney house prices falling by as much as 7 per cent and Melbourne by as much as 8 per cent over the next financial year — nowhere near enough to undo the gains of the past three years.

A graph depicting how much house prices would need to fall to match previous lows in 2023

The analysis highlighted that what stood out about Australia’s last eight downturns wasn’t the falls themselves; it was how contained they had been. In every single one, the worst annual fall stayed under 8 per cent.

The upswings were also telling, with Australia going through nine separate growth phases since 1995, lasting an average of just under three years but delivering average growth of 32.3 per cent.

The most recent upswing, which lasted three years and is now ending, saw house prices rise by 29.6 per cent.

“While the latest slowdown comes amid heightened focus on government policy, three decades of data show housing downturns have occurred under all policy settings, and have consistently been driven by interest rates, supply, credit conditions and shifts in confidence,” the Domain analysis reads.

“Across that period, Australia has recorded eight completed downturns — each followed by a recovery that not only reversed losses but pushed prices to new highs.”

How long will the dip last?

While you might need a fortune teller to predict the lowest low, Domain’s historical analysis suggests things might start heading up next year.

“Downturns have typically been short and contained, averaging a 2.9 per cent decline over around eight months,” the analysis found. “By contrast, upswings have been longer and significantly stronger, delivering 32 per cent growth on average over nearly three years.”

A graph showing upswings versus downturns in other housing dips.

Domain chief residential economist Nicola Powell said the underlying rhythm of the market hasn’t changed.

“Downturns can feel sharp in real time, but historically they’ve been short and shallow, and have not unwound the gains that preceded them,” she said.

“When the interest rate cycle turns, demand that has been sitting on the sidelines tends to return quickly, bringing the next phase of growth forward.”

How to tell when the market is on the upswing

So what should buyers and sellers be watching for?

Interest rates are the first and most obvious signal, according to REA Group senior economist Anne Flaherty.

“Once we’ve seen that rates have hit the peak and the overwhelming consensus is that the next move is down, that normally signals a turning point,” she told SBS News, adding that undersupply and slow construction across most capitals are keeping confidence in the market’s medium-term trajectory.

Auction clearance rates are another key gauge.

They’re currently sitting close to 40 per cent in capital cities, according to Cotality research this week, meaning fewer homes that have gone to auction have found a buyer.

Clearance rates above 60 per cent are typically seen as a mark of a balanced market.

“Once we start to see the clearance rates pick up, that’s a sign that buyers and vendors are more aligned and it’s also a sign that buyer demand is recovering,” Flaherty said.

“It’s also when we start to see more people turning up for open home inspections and more people searching and inquiring to buy property,” she said, noting that it typically takes longer for that interest to flow through into actual price growth.

Spring is likely to be the next real test, with winter being a traditionally quieter period for listings, Flaherty said.

By then — and with the dust from the federal budget settling — there should be a clearer idea of where buyer demand sits.

Heart-Wrenching Eyewitness Account of Northside Shooting That Tragically Claimed a 4-Year-Old

0

Authorities have taken the children’s father into custody, with investigators suspecting that the tragic shooting was sparked by a domestic altercation. The case is still under active investigation.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A sense of shock and sorrow hangs over a Jacksonville community following a heartbreaking incident where a 4-year-old girl was killed and her 2-year-old sister, along with their mother, sustained critical injuries in a shooting.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched to Traci Lynn Drive, near Dunn Avenue, at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday in response to reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found a 4-year-old girl, a 2-year-old girl, and their 27-year-old mother with gunshot wounds. Tragically, the 4-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. The mother and younger daughter were rushed to the hospital, where they underwent emergency surgeries due to their grave injuries.

Shortly after the incident, the children’s father was apprehended by investigators. It is believed that the shooting was linked to a domestic argument. Officials have not yet released the identities of those involved.

For neighbor Dauntte Bent, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than two decades, Tuesday evening is something she says she will never forget.

“I heard gunshots, and I got up immediately, ran to the window, and I looked out the window, and I seen a guy standing in the yard with a gun in his hand,” said Bent.

Bent said she immediately called 911 before running outside to help.

“When I saw him, as I said, I ran. I got my clothes back on, and I ran downstairs and came outside. He was gone. He took off in the car. He took off already. It looked like he was trying to reload, but it didn’t happen,” Bent said.

She said when she reached the home, she heard a family member desperately calling for help while the children’s mother fought for her life.

“She was talking to the young lady laying on the ground and telling her to breathe, keep breathing, and then she was like ‘Oh my gosh, the kids,’ and when she opened the door, she discovered one of the kids was hit.”

Bent said the reality of what she witnessed quickly overwhelmed her.

“I started crying because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing; I couldn’t believe it,” Bent said.

She says the violence has shaken a neighborhood she has long considered peaceful.

“About 24 years living in this neighborhood, when something like this, this close to home. It didn’t feel real,” Bent said.

She hopes others experiencing domestic violence will seek help before it’s too late.

“If you can find a way out, try and get out. “You got family members who love you and friends who can encourage you to get out from that kind of situation. Try your best to get out,” Bent said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active.

Remember South Dakota’s July 4th Debacle? Here’s Why It’s Time for a Change in Leadership

0

Pulled from the pages of satirical news, the Babylon Bee often delights with its humorous takes.

In a surprising twist, San Diego County has announced a grand celebration for the 250th birthday of the United States, centered around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

But wait, this isn’t tongue-in-cheek humor.

This is not, in fact, one of the Babylon Bee’s fictional narratives; it is a real planned event. As part of the Independence Day festivities, San Diego County is organizing an identity-politics extravaganza.

Feeling intrigued? You might want to save the date for July 4 and join in the celebrations!

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted this year to align the county’s Independence Day event with “equity and racial justice” goals.

Per a social media post from the mayor of El Cajon, the three-hour program will feature: a “tribal intimate blessing welcoming to land”; a tribal invocation; the American and black national anthems; local tribal community stories; Latino community stories; Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community stories; LGBTQIA+ community stories; and black and African community stories.

Whew. It’s exhausting just to read about.

But more to the point: all of this … on July 4 of America’s 250th year? What message does the county of San Diego mean to send?

Not one that elevates fun, family, unity, respect, gratitude and patriotism — traditional Independence Day fare.

Instead, the county stoops to woke pandering.

Extolling favored groups on the nation’s birthday is e pluribus unum in reverse: ex uno, plura.

It’s divisive. It’s ill-timed. And it’s disrespectful to the nation, to its founding values and to the US Armed Forces who have fought and sometimes died to guard the rights the grievance crowd takes for granted.

In the very recent past, Americans of all stars and stripes could agree on some things, including the Fourth of July and its fun family patriotic fare.

Remember the iconic jingle, “We love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet?”

Those were days when Americans united around major holidays, around a shared heritage of freedom and around pride in a country that’s the freest in the world.

No longer.

These days, the scolds can’t be satisfied, the socialists win elections from New York to Colorado (unthinkable not long ago) and divisive Fourth of July programs emerge in once-moderate places like San Diego County.

Increasingly, elected officials want to shove a thumb in the eye of the nation, its founding, its traditions and its glory.

Enough.

Note to the radicals who rush to tear America down on perhaps its most cherished holiday:

Stop being petulant about losing national elections.

Love your country even if you don’t love its current leader.

Teach, respect and appreciate the values of 1776: liberty, individual rights, equality, limited government and the rule of law.

Ditch the woke bilge and restore the picnics, US flags and fireworks.

Restore e pluribus unum.

Skip the lecture series and let the people have fun.

And a bonus memo to San Diego County voters: Remember this farce next election.

Just maybe, in another grand American tradition, you’ll do this:

Throw the bums out.

Dramatic Footage: Firefighters Battle Fiery Apartment Electrical Room Explosion

A dramatic video has surfaced capturing the terrifying moment an explosion burst forth inside an electrical room at a Washington state apartment complex, engulfing firefighters in flames and debris as they were responding to smoke reports on Sunday.

The intense footage from Tacoma depicts a team of firefighters as they pried open the door to the electrical room, unleashing a cloud of thick smoke. Just moments later, a forceful explosion blasted through the entrance, shattering windows and propelling vertical blinds and debris into the air, forcing the firefighters to hastily retreat from the building.

The person filming the event briefly diverted the camera after the explosion. Once the video readjusts, the firefighters are visible regrouping, ensuring everyone’s safety, and moving away from the severely damaged structure.

According to a subsequent statement from the Tacoma Fire Department (TFD), thankfully, all firefighters and residents emerged unscathed from the incident.

Firefighters responded around 5:37 p.m. to an apartment complex at 6400 S. 12th St., after receiving reports of an explosion and smoke coming from an electrical conduit, according to the department. Fire alarms sounded after a resident pulled the alarm, prompting crews to evacuate buildings as a precaution.

“Eight buildings evacuated indefinitely. No active fire,” the TFD said in an update on X.

Officials said an electrical transformer malfunction pushed smoke into multiple buildings while Tacoma Public Utilities and fire investigators worked to determine the cause. Apartment residents were temporarily sheltered at Hunt Middle School.

In a later update, the department said the explosion occurred inside the electrical room after firefighters shut off power to the building.

“Explosion occurred in the electrical room where firefighters shut power off to the building,” the Tacoma Fire Department wrote on X. Tacoma Public Utilities continued investigating the cause of the blast.

The utility later cleared residents to return to every building except the 600 building while crews worked to restore power. The American Red Cross assisted residents displaced from that building.

The Tacoma Fire Department said the explosion remained under investigation.
