Two Shot Near Chicago’s Royal Sonesta River North: Over 100 Gunshots Reported

0

CHICAGO (WLS) — In the early hours of Wednesday, a deadly shooting occurred near a hotel in the River North neighborhood, resulting in one man’s death and injuring another, as reported by the Chicago police.

The incident unfolded around 3:20 a.m. in the 500 block of North State Street.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

According to police, the two men—aged 65 and 30—were outside when they suddenly heard gunshots and felt the impact of being shot.

The 30-year-old victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The 65-year-old victim suffered a foot injury. He was also taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is currently listed in fair condition.

An employee at the Royal Sonesta Chicago River North said he heard multiple shots, but no guests or anyone from the hotel was involved.

Surveillance video showed to ABC7 by a hotel employee showed two people getting out of a light-colored sedan with large guns and quickly firing off shots before driving away.

Alderman Brendan Reilly said the shooting was gang-related.

“Gun violence downtown is totally unacceptable – just as should be unacceptable in any of Chicago’s neighborhoods,” Alderman Reilly said in a statement. “The brave women and men who serve in the Chicago Police Department are working hard to protect our communities. Like all downtown residents, I am grateful for their service and hard work. But we need a greater presence overnight.”

He said five hooded and masked gunmen got out of a gray Honda Accord, all armed, and fired at the 30-year-old man, whom Reilly said had an extensive criminal background. He said the attackers fled in the same vehicle, which was later found burned.

Kiley Cleckner lives in an apartment at the hotel.

“This is the most insane thing I’ve seen this far,” she said.

Cleckner recalled being jolted awake by what she initially believed were fireworks.

“There were enough going off that by the time I got to my window with my camera they were still shooting,” she said.

Cleckner said she saw at least three men get back into a car that sped west on Grand Avenue.

There were over 100 gunshots. Chicago police counted at least 110 shell casings from the deadly shooting.

Video of the scene showed bullet holes in the hotel’s window and facade.

Hotel guest Cindy Monroe said she saw someone being put in an ambulance from her hotel room window.

“Just sad again, just that the human, you know, people’s lives were taken,” Monroe said.

“I was all shocked,” said Harris Carr, who also lives in the building. “I just moved out here in February; so I heard about the violence and all that, but didn’t have an experience it yet. I don’t know what you could possibly do with the 100 shots; that’s a little nuts.”

Although analysis from the ABC7 Chicago data team shows violent crime in River North is down more than 18 percent in the past year, Cleckner said empty storefronts in the neighborhood create blind spots where crime can occur.

“It’s obviously identified by these groups of people that they can out hang there and do crazy things and not get caught,” she said.

Reilly said he has spoken with Chicago police and requested increased late-night patrols downtown during the summer months and ahead of the July 4 weekend.

Area Three detectives are investigating. Roads in the busy area were closed Wednesday.

Police said no arrests have been made.

Gainesville resident faces charges for alleged inappropriate conduct with child

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have charged 39-year-old Samuel Antonio Mitchell with lewd or lascivious conduct following accusations of inappropriate behavior towards a minor.

According to a report from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the young victim confided in an adult that Mitchell had inappropriately touched her under her underwear as she slept. The incident allegedly ended abruptly when Mitchell dashed into another room.

The adult, who had briefly left to use the bathroom, recounted that upon returning, Mitchell entered the room with her. Shortly thereafter, the juvenile informed the adult of the inappropriate contact.

Investigators surmised that Mitchell left the scene hurriedly upon hearing the sound of the toilet flushing, indicating he was aware of someone’s presence in the house.

Post Miranda, Mitchell denied touching the child in any way; he reportedly said he had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening and had two “Buzz Ball” drinks. He reportedly said he doesn’t do other drugs anymore and then said he smoked “molly” four days before the incident; however, he later reportedly changed his story and said he had smoked “molly” two days before the incident, and then he said he had not smoked molly in two years and had smoked cocaine four days and two days before the incident. He said he did not believe he was intoxicated at the time of the incident, but the deputy reported that he could smell alcohol on Mitchell’s breath; Mitchell said he’d just had a “Buzz Ball” in his hands.

Mitchell reportedly said the adult and the child were lying about the incident to get him in trouble, but the deputy noted that it didn’t make sense for both of them to wake up from sleep at the same time and come up with a story to get Mitchell in trouble.

Mitchell has been charged with lewd or lascivious conduct. He has 17 felony convictions (non-violent) and eight misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); he has served seven state prison sentences, with his most recent release in January 2025. He is being held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Donald Trump Experiences Mixed Outcomes as Political Influence Intensifies

0

President Donald Trump of the United States has experienced a blend of outcomes from the Supreme Court, which has both endorsed and struck down various cornerstone policies of his administration.

Within the chambers of the Supreme Court, many of Trump’s executive actions, including the sweeping and ambitious policy moves implemented during his initial months in office, come under rigorous review by state-appointed judges.

This past Tuesday marked the conclusion of the court’s term, with its nine state-appointed justices delivering pivotal verdicts on some of Trump’s most contentious executive orders and legislations.

The rulings addressed a spectrum of issues from immigration policies and transgender athletes’ rights in sports to the repercussions of one of Trump’s high-profile dismissals.

Read more below to uncover details about Trump’s pivotal Tuesday.

Defeat: Birthright citizenship

Trump suffered a massive blow to the anti-immigration initiatives at the heart of his second presidency after the Supreme Court rejected a bid to restrict birthright citizenship.

The move was part of a raft of executive orders signed on the first day of his second stint at the White House, announcing that children born to parents in the United States who were there illegally or on temporary visas would not automatically become US citizens.

Donald Trump, wearing a blue suit and red tie, sits at his desk clasping his hands together.

On Tuesday, the court ruled 6-3 to maintain the right to American citizenship for nearly everyone born on US soil — even when their parents are not US citizens.

“Children born in the United States to parents unlawfully or temporarily present are ‘subject to the jurisdiction’ of the United States and are citizens at birth under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause,” chief justice John Roberts wrote in the court’s opinion.

SBS News previously reported that Trump’s move drew parallels with reforms introduced in 1986 under the Hawke government. In Australia, children of temporary residents qualify for citizenship after living in the country for the first 10 years of their lives.

Following the ruling, the US Justice Department released a memo directing prosecutors to investigate “birth tourism” and promising to “zealously protect the sanctity of United States citizenship”.

The executive order was part of a broader campaign to limit immigration, with widespread detention and deportations sparking protest and unrest across the country.

Defeat: You’re (not) fired!

The Supreme Court thwarted Trump’s bid to fire one of the governors of the Federal Reserve — the US central bank.

Lisa Cook was the first black woman to sit on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. The former economics professor was appointed to the board by the Biden administration in 2022.

Lisa Cook (right) in a grey jacket is sworn in as Fed Reserve Governor by Jerome Powell (left) in a black jacket in front of American flags and bibles.

In late 2025, Trump announced he had sufficient grounds to believe Cook had made false statements in one or more mortgage agreements. He ordered her removed from the board with immediate effect.

Cook denied the allegations, and took legal action on the grounds Trump had no authority to remove her.

The decision means Cook can remain in her post while legal proceedings over her position continue in a lower court.

Trump has taken drastic steps against the US central bank, including a public campaign against former Fed chairman Jerome Powell. He has demanded that monetary policymakers lower interest rates to stimulate the economy, in moves that have raised questions about the central bank’s independence.

Victory: Transgender sports bans

In a major victory for one of the Trump Presidency’s fiercest culture-war battles, the Supreme Court upheld state laws barring transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s school sports.

Public schools and college sports teams across more than two dozen Republican-led states will continue to enforce rules requiring athletes to compete according to their sex assigned at birth, rather than their gender identity.

Trump issued an executive order last year allowing federal agencies to deny funding to schools that permit transgender athletes to compete on girls’ or women’s teams.

Challenges were brought by transgender students who argued that the bans violated the federal civil rights law barring sex discrimination in education — known as Title IX.

The argument was rejected by conservative justice Brett Kavanaugh, a longtime coach of youth women’s basketball, who delivered the Supreme Court’s opinion on the ruling.

“May schools determine eligibility for women’s and girls’ sports based on biological sex? The answer is yes,” Kavanaugh wrote.

The ruling lands amid an escalating national push by conservatives to regulate transgender participation in public life, with a purge of trans and gender diverse officers serving in the US military; and 27 states enforcing gender-affirming health care restrictions.

Trump responded to some of the rulings on his Truth Social social media platform.

On the birthright citizenship ruling, he wrote in part: “The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation …”

On transgender sports bans, he wrote: “BIG WIN: The United States Supreme Court just RULED AGAINST MEN PLAYING IN WOMEN’S SPORTS. Wow! That takes that ridiculous situation off the table!!!”

Victory: Campaign spending

In a win that could prove seismic for the upcoming midterm elections, the Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted restrictions on the amount of money a political party can spend on an individual candidate.

The Republican Party brought the case to the Supreme Court before the 2024 election, with now vice president JD Vance leading the push, arguing that spending restrictions were against the US First Amendment.

Vice President JD Vance in a blue suit and purple tie sitting on a golden couch looking a little concerned

Since 2010, spending restrictions have been eased for corporations, unions and other outside groups. Political parties, however, were limited in how much they could spend on things like advertising.

Supporters of the restrictions argued the rules prevented wealthy donors from funnelling money to their chosen candidate, and would curb corruption.

The court’s ruling was condemned by Senate Democratic minority leader Chuck Schumer, who in a statement accused the Supreme Court of giving “the very wealthy and big money special interest groups the green light to buy elections”.

US-based non-profit Open Secrets estimated the 2024 presidential election cost a total of US$15.9 billion ($24 billion) across both parties, including congressional campaigns — making it the most expensive election since Republican George W Bush won in 1998.

Ivory Coast’s Toure Joins Newcastle, Brighton Secures £46M Tottenham Defender, Chelsea Signs Marco Palestra in Transfer Window Updates

The much-anticipated summer transfer window has officially opened and will remain so until September 1. Clubs are gearing up for what promises to be an eventful period of strategic signings as they prepare for the upcoming season. Here are the latest updates from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Brighton land Portugal young gun

Brighton has proudly announced the acquisition of Portuguese winger Rodrigo Rego, a player who has been making waves in the Under-21 international scene.

The 20-year-old has secured a five-year deal for an undisclosed amount, after an impressive stint at Benfica. Last season, he made five appearances for the first team and marked his Champions League debut coming off the bench against Ajax.

‘Last season, he experienced the intensity of men’s football both in the league and on the Champions League stage, showcasing his progress and talent.’

‘We are confident that we can nurture his talent further, helping him to achieve his full potential. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to work with him as he embarks on this new chapter.’

Spurs’ summer overhaul continues with Tonali

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Newcastle to sign Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The two clubs are finalising details on a £92.5million deal, with add-ons centred around Champions League qualification taking that fee to £100m.

Daily Mail Sport understands a six-year deal is being discussed, though personal terms have already been agreed. Tonali is reputed to be earning around £275,000 per week on his new contract at Spurs.

Sandro Tonali looks set to join Tottenham in a deal worth £100m

Talks intensified earlier on Wednesday evening as Spurs looked to deliver their new-look midfield for Roberto De Zerbi, just 24 hours after agreeing to pay West Ham £85m for Mateus Fernandes.

Earlier, Tottenham accepted a £50million offer from Brighton for Croatia centre back Luka Vuskovic.

Toure heading for Toon

Newcastle have agreed a fee in the region of £42million with Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure.

Daily Mail Sport have previously reported the club’s interest in the wide man, who has been away at the World Cup with the Ivory Coast.

He has now been given permission to travel for a medical, though the deal is still being finalised. Hoffenheim have negotiated a sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Seagulls swoop for Vuskovic

Brighton have agreed a £46million fee with Tottenham for Luka Vuskovic.

The deal includes a further £4m in add ons plus a 20 per cent sell on and matching rights for Tottenham.

Daily Mail Sport understands a five-year contract is on the table for the Croatia international, who is expected to have a medical in the USA as he is at the World Cup.

It is an improvement on Brighton’s previous offer of £43m plus £2m in add-ons, which was rejected by Spurs.

In June, Spurs completed a £52m deal for Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton.

Vuskovic was on loan at Hamburg last season and wanted to continue to play regularly.

The arrival of Van Hecke alongside Marcos Senesi indicated he was not at the forefront of Roberto de Zerbi’s plans despite the fact he was highly regarded by the club.

SIMON JONES and BOBBY MANZI

Swansea bag Salzburg winger

Swansea City have confirmed the signing of RB Salzburg winger Moussa Yeo for an undisclosed fee. However they are losing Ethan Galbraith to Stoke City in deal worth £5million plus add-ons.

Arsenal close on new sporting director

Arsenal are closing on a deal to bring Granada sporting director Javier Alonso to the club after he resigned from his post earlier this week.

Newcastle ask about Gray

Newcastle United have asked about Archie Gray’s situation in talks with Tottenham over Sandro Tonali. However, sources say they have stopped short of making a bid. Tonali remains hopeful they can reach agreement on his fee after indicating to Roberto de Zerbi that he wishes to join Spurs.

Talks are still ongoing on that front with Newcastle awaiting improved figures.

Chelsea seal Palestra deal

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of 21-year-old Italian defender Marco Palestra from Atalanta.

‘It’s important for me to have Xabi Alonso as the manager,’ said Palestra, who has signed a six-year deal, with the option of a further year, in a deal worth around £48million.

‘I have had two conversations with him and I’m very happy because he told me what he wanted from me. I’m very happy to know him and to start training with Chelsea.’

Chelsea plan to test Sunderland by submitting a second bid for their captain, Granit Xhaka.

The Stamford Bridge outfit saw their first offer worth £8million on Saturday turned down with those inside the Stadium of Light taking a dim view of that valuation. Sunderland have insisted their 33-year-old skipper is not for sale this summer.

However, with Xhaka keen on being reunited with his former Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea are ready to return in another effort at securing their target.

Sources are not disclosing how much their second bid is set to be worth at this time, though Chelsea did feel their initial bid was fair and close to Xhaka’s value.

Chelsea’s interest in Xhaka has largely been driven by Alonso, whose four-year contract in charge of his new club officially kicked in today (July 1).

Together, Alonso and Xhaka did the Double with Leverkusen in 2023-24 as they won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. They also reached the final of the Europa League, where they were beaten by Atalanta.

Sunderland signed Xhaka from Leverkusen last summer in a deal worth £13m, plus £4m in add-ons. As captain, he helped them secure European football in their first season back in the Premier League, and is contracted until 2028.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who turns 34 in September, is currently away with Switzerland at the 2026 World Cup.

Newcastle ramp up efforts for World Cup stars

Newcastle United are pressing ahead in their efforts to land new players for Eddie Howe.

Talks are ongoing over Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi and they are emerging as frontrunners for Ivory Coast winger Bazoumana Toure.

Box-to-box midfielder Manzambi plays for Freiburg in Germany and has caught the eye at the World Cup with his brace of goals against Bosnia and man of the match performance, plus another strike in his country’s 2-1 win over Canada.

Manzambi is only 20 and viewed as having a very bright future. He was named the Europa League Young Player of the Season after Freiburg lost to Aston Villa in the final.

Toure is another 20-year-old, who plays in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

He plays as an inverted left winger. Fast and good in one on ones Toure would be viewed as a replacement for Anthony Gordon, who was sold to Barcelona.

Hackney set for Toffees medical – as club look to sign George on permanent deal

Hayden Hackney is expected to have his medical ahead of his £16.5m move to Everton from Middlesbrough – as the club remain in talks to sign Tyrique George from Chelsea on a permanent deal.

Everton had an option to buy the 20-year-old following the culmination of his loan spell at the end of the season but David Moyes’s club are seeking to strike a deal on fresh terms closer to £20million.

Dan’s the man for Rangers

Rangers have signed midfielder Dan Neil on a three-year contract after he left Sunderland.

The 24-year-old had been in talks with Southampton and looked set to move to St Mary’s. He also had interest from West Ham.

However, Rangers have moved swiftly to sign the former England youth international, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town.

Liverpool get their Jacquet

Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for £55m, plus £5m in potential add-ons.

The centre back signs a five-year deal, after agreeing to sign for the club over Chelsea in February, and is expected to be on the upcoming pre-season tour of America.

And Jacquet has assured fans he will be fully fit to start training after missing the end of last season with a shoulder injury. ‘I feel much improved and I will be 100 per cent ready (for the start of pre-season) because I’m a little ahead of schedule,’ he said on Wednesday. ‘With continued hard work I’ll be fully fit before the season.’

Denver Nuggets Extend Invitation to LeBron James Following Lakers Departure

0

The Denver Nuggets have thrown their hats into the LeBron James sweepstakes. While they might not be the obvious frontrunners, they certainly present an intriguing prospect for the acclaimed NBA star.

As reported by The Denver Post, the Nuggets have reached out to James, signaling their eagerness to bring the legendary 21-time All-NBA forward to Denver. As James moves on from the Los Angeles Lakers, after eight impactful seasons that included a championship, an NBA scoring record, and another stellar year achieved at the age of 41, the league watches closely to see where he will land next.

The burning question on everyone’s mind is where this iconic player intends to play next to finish out his career.

Apart from Denver, other franchises vying for James’ talents include Golden State, Cleveland, Miami, and Minnesota, all linked with possible interest.

However, this isn’t a typical free agency saga. Rich Paul, James’ agent, emphasized in a recent interview that they’ve had conversations with “about 12-14 teams.” This suggests nearly half of the teams in the league have expressed some level of interest in adding LeBron to their rosters, highlighting the widespread allure and impact of his potential signing.

Paul also explained that James is not simply chasing the biggest contract.

“I think it’s more so having the ability to compete for the possibility to compete for winning a championship,” Paul said. “I think you can say being competitive. I think you can say having guys who understand how to play at a high level.”

That is where Denver becomes interesting.

The Nuggets cannot offer James the kind of money some other teams might without major roster gymnastics. Luckily, Paul also said maximizing money won’t be the deciding factor. If James is truly open to taking less for the right basketball situation, Denver has a real pitch: Nikola Jokic.

The basketball case is pretty easy to understand.

James and Jokic would give Denver two elite passers who know how to make the game easier for everyone around them. Jokic would still be the center of the offense, but James could take pressure off him as another creator, especially in late-clock situations, transition chances and playoff matchups where Denver needs a different look.

The fit would not be seamless automatically. Denver’s offense runs through Jokic, and changing that would present many dubious realities. James would have to be comfortable picking his spots, playing off the ball more often and acting as a secondary playmaker instead of controlling every possession.

At this stage, that might be a reasonable role and would in a sense mimic his role with the Lakers last season. James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists last season. But on a Nuggets team with Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon already in place, the appeal would be less about LeBron carrying the offense and more about giving Denver another high-level option in high leverage situations.

There is also history here. Nuggets president Josh Kroenke tried to recruit James in 2018 by sending him a throwback Denver jersey. James later called Kroenke a “very dear friend” and said the two had spent time together away from basketball.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has also called Denver a possible “outlier team” for James, especially if he is willing to take some kind of exception to play with Jokic.

Then there is, perhaps, the most important free agency factor of all: golf.

Paul joked that James would be fine as long as there is “indoor and outdoor golf.” Denver, somehow, checks that box.

Winter golf in Colorado is strange, weather-dependent and occasionally interrupted by snow, frost delays and frozen fairways that play like concrete. But between sunny winter days, year-round courses and indoor simulator spots around the city, LeBron’s golf requirement can technically survive the Rockies.

The Nuggets are still a long shot.

But they are not a joke.

If James wants a comfortable landing spot, title contenstion, and a chance to play beside Jokic, the Nuggets have a pitch worth listening to.

And apparently, they already have the communication lines open.

Mamdani Revises NYPD Staffing Increase Proposal Under DSA Influence

0

Recent reports reveal that New York City’s newly unveiled budget omits a proposed expansion for the police department’s workforce, which had been previously considered.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist, stated, “I have been engaging with all agency heads to explore saving strategies, and through discussions with Commissioner Tisch, we have found ways to maintain the NYPD’s authorized staff count at 35,000. This achieves our crime-fighting objectives while rolling out the new initiatives announced earlier this year.”

The mayor’s office received inquiries from News Media on Wednesday.

In a statement to News Media on Wednesday, the NYPD commented, “The city’s financial difficulties are well-known, and the mayor has requested that every department leader look for efficiencies. Commissioner Tisch, who has successfully led three city agencies in her career, has a commendable record of improving efficiency, modernizing operations, and achieving results, even with tight budgets. Currently, the department operates effectively with our budgeted staffing, continuously reducing crime rates monthly. Our current headcount and hiring plan offer the necessary flexibility to maintain this progress throughout the next fiscal year.”

The New York City Democratic Socialists of America had spoken out against the prospect of an increase earlier this month.

Part of a statement posted on the left-wing group’s X profile, which appeared to also have been joined by several other groups, declared, “We are calling on Mayor Mamdani to reverse this proposed expansion of the NYPD and invest the money in community safety programs instead.”

The NYC-DSA reposted City Council member Tiffany Cabán’s statement hailing the news about the budget on Tuesday.

“I am proud too have worked closely with the Mayor and public safety advocates to ensure there was no increase to the NYPD’s headcount in this budget,” Cabán said. “Every dollar we spend on policing and incarceration means money we can’t spend on housing, mental health care, substance use treatment, and economic stability: the proven policies that actually keep our communities healthy and safe.”

“This budget is an important check on the failed policy of broken windows policing and will allow us to build a public safety infrastructure rooted in care, not punishment and incarceration. And we will keep building on it,” she added.

Ava Dash of Next Gen NYC Opens Up About Her Connection with Kyle Cooke: ‘We’re Having Fun

Next Gen NYC‘s prominent figure, Ava Dash, has addressed the whispers swirling around her alleged romantic involvement with Summer House personality Kyle Cooke.

“Over the past couple of months, we’ve grown quite close,” Ava, 26, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Wednesday, July 1, during a conversation about the upcoming season of Next Gen NYC. “We share the same circle of friends. Several of my closest pals are also his, so we’ve just been enjoying ourselves,” she disclosed.

Ava also remarked on her deepening connections with Summer House regulars Jesse Solomon and Mia Calabrese.

“We’ve had great times together at events like Coachella, and guys like Carl Radke have been incredibly nice. Last weekend at Palm Tree, we all had a blast and have just grown so close, so yeah, it’s all about fun,” she elaborated.

Pressed on whether she wished to address the romance rumors with Kyle, 43, Ava teasingly responded to Us, “What happens in the Hamptons stays in the Hamptons, at least for the time being.”

Amanda Batula’s newfound romance with Summer House costar West Wilson has thrown the entire cast for a loop. “It’s just a lot to take in,” Amanda’s estranged husband, Kyle Cooke, said during a Wednesday, April 1, TikTok interview with Adam Glyn. “It’s not just me, Amanda, West, Ciara [Miller]. It’s, like, our whole friend group. […]

Us spotted Kyle chatting with Ava at the Palm Tree Music Festival in Southampton, New York, on Saturday, June 27. Carl, 41, was also seen mingling at the event, as well as Summer House castmates Bailey Taylor and Levi Sebree.

Rumors about Ava and Kyle come seven months after the latter announced his split from Amanda Batula after more than four years of marriage.

“After much reflection, we have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple. We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing,” the former couple shared in January. “It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we’ve always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter.”

Amanda, 34, has since moved on with Summer House costar West Wilson — a relationship that has caused intense public scrutiny and controversy among the cast, as West, 31, previously dated Amanda’s now-estranged best friend, Ciara Miller. Insiders confirmed to Us last month that neither Amanda nor West will return to Summer House for season 11 following the scandal.

Kyle Cooke Isnt Ready for Anything Serious After Amanda Batula Split, Random Meghan King Kiss

Summer House star Kyle Cooke is single and slowly getting ready to mingle. Following Kyle’s public split from Amanda Batula, a source exclusively shared with Us Weekly that the Bravo star is not ready for anything serious and is just “doing his thing.” At this point, the insider claimed, Kyle, 43, is ready to start […]

As for Kyle, sources exclusively told Us in June that he and Southern Charm’s Salley Carson were “hooking up” and had “a lot of chemistry.” He was also previously spotted kissing Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King in April.

Despite his sightings with fellow Bravolebrities, Kyle insisted to People in June that he’s focusing on himself right now.

“I’m in my own little world at the moment,” he told the outlet. “I’m traveling a lot, so I’m not even really in a position to date in New York. I’m having fun. I will 100 percent be single this summer because I’m looking at my calendar and I’m like, ‘Yeah, there’s no chance for me to even date locally.’”

Before Kyle, Ava was linked to AEW wrestler Tyler “Hook” Senerchia last year. The reality star teased to Us that season 2 of Next Gen NYC will explore “a breakup,” although she did not specify from whom she split.

“I’m hoping that because I was so vulnerable and really showed what I was going through on camera, hopefully people that watch it will be able to relate, not too much, but you know, we’ve all been through a breakup, so it can be hard,” she shared, later teasing that she also goes through “a really big friend transformation” this season.

Next Gen NYC season 2 premiered on June 24. New episodes air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

Senate Stalemate on SAVE Act Leaves House in Limbo, Claims Riley Moore

0

During an appearance on – News Daily, Representative Riley Moore from West Virginia, who is a Republican, announced that the House Republicans are set to integrate the SAVE Act with the National Defense Authorization Act. This strategy reintroduces voter ID legislation to the Senate, following multiple attempts by the House to mandate proof of American citizenship for voting.

Moore expressed his frustration with the Senate’s inaction, suggesting that House lawmakers often find themselves hindered by the Senate’s lack of responsiveness.

“The House has endorsed the Save America Act three times,” Moore noted, highlighting that the SAVE Act, which he referred to as “the initial variant of the voter ID legislation,” is poised for alignment with the National Defense Authorization Act.

Moore outlined that this tactic is facilitated through regulatory procedures, ensuring that once the NDAA is approved by the House, the SAVE Act’s provisions will be seamlessly integrated into the main text of the bill.

Should the Senate reject this inclusion, Moore explained, the subsequent course of action would involve a conference between the House and Senate. This would lead to negotiations regarding the reintroduction of the measure, compelling senators to deliberate on its removal from the National Defense Authorization Act.

The West Virginia Republican said pressure should fall on GOP senators, adding, “We got 53 Republicans in the Senate, their margin is better than ours in the House,” and stating that they “need to vote for this National Defense Authorization Act with the Save Act in it.”

Asked whether Democrats could be persuaded to support some version of the legislation, Moore said, “I don’t think Democrats are going to vote for this,” before pointing to California’s automatic voter registration system as an example of what he views as a problem.

“State of California has automatic voter registration when you go get a driver’s license,” Moore said, noting that driver’s licenses are available to people in the country legally and illegally and asking whether anyone believes there are not noncitizens voting in U.S. elections.

Moore said the federal government should ensure that “U.S. citizens are voting in our elections,” adding that if Republicans cannot stand up for that principle, “That is a sad state of affairs for the Republican Party.”

Moore also drew a distinction between the SAVE Act and the Save America Act, saying the SAVE Act is “primarily dealing with voter ID,” while the Save America Act addresses “voter ID and the mail-in ballot question.”

On mail-in ballots, Moore said Democrats have “eroded trust and confidence in the elections” by allowing vote-counting to continue well after Election Day, asking, “Why would you not have an erosion of trust in the process when it drags on for weeks, if not months?”

Moore pointed to India as an example, saying the country has “over a billion people” and “got their election results in a day,” while questioning why California sometimes cannot produce results “within five, six weeks.”

“It doesn’t make any sense,” Moore said, adding that he lacks trust in results from California because delayed counting contributes to doubts about whether elections are “all above board.”

Moore also criticized Republicans who argue that continued focus on election integrity undermines confidence and turnout, saying, “They are the ones that are hurting Republican enthusiasm and turnout.”

“It goes back to that point that I just made, the erosion of trust in the election cycle,” Moore said, asking why voters would show up “when I don’t even know my vote even matters.”

Moore said election integrity remains a major concern among Republican voters, calling it “a core tenant” of why Republicans “won in 2024” and saying the issue comes up at “any Lincoln Reagan Day dinner in any county in America.”

“This will be a top issue for any Republican that you talk to,” Moore said, adding that the concern spans “moderate to MAGA” Republicans who do not understand “why you can’t get this done.”

Exclusive: Taylor Swift’s Wedding Plans Leaked by Madison Square Garden Insiders

0

Exciting details about what might be the most open secret in the entertainment world are beginning to emerge, as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get ready to exchange vows.

Three officers stationed at Madison Square Garden in New York City have confirmed to the Daily Mail that this famous venue is set to host a rehearsal dinner Thursday evening, with the wedding taking place the next day.

According to a source, the rehearsal dinner invites specify ‘cocktail attire’ and will be an intimate affair for family and close friends at the cozier Infosys Theater within MSG.

The New York Police Department has given orders for officers to oversee the ‘Taylor Swift wedding rehearsal,’ beginning at 1 PM on Thursday.

Regarding Friday’s festivities in the main arena, the source mentioned that since ‘Travis is not religious and Taylor doesn’t appear to be either,’ a civil ceremony is expected.

Two separate deployments of cops scheduled to guard Friday’s revelries will report to MSG at 2.45pm ET, with a third deployment following 30 minutes later.

That may suggest that 3.15pm is when the busiest or most crucial part of Friday’s ceremony will be taking place.

A total of 139 officers have been assigned to oversee the monster bash, including five lieutenants and 14 sergeants, our sources said. Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend Friday, with celebrations running late into the early hours.

Security posts around MSG have already been erected and special ‘cooling stations’ have been set up to allow cops periods of air-conditioned respite from the ferocious 100F heat that is set to bake Manhattan this holiday weekend.

Around fifteen National Guardsmen were seen outside a VIP entrance to MSG on Wednesday, with members of Swift’s own security team also present.

Truckloads of equipment have been arriving at all hours in recent days. On Tuesday, ‘carpenters’ in t-shirts bearing the logo of Swift’s 2011 Speak Now world tour were photographed driving forklift trucks, sending fans into a frenzy.

Then on Wednesday, two enormous semis were carefully parked to block the view of one entrance to the Garden. Another loading dock has been covered by black tarp.

Meanwhile, boxes of lobster – from Maine – have been wheeled inside, suggesting Swift will generously splurge some of her $2billion fortune to feed her guests. A Krispy Kreme van was also seen in the area, though it should be noted that the donut chain has a store inside nearby Penn Station.

Trees and other shrubbery, as well a sewing machine, have also been hauled into MSG.

It has been suggested that a life-sized ‘castle’ is being built inside the arena, amid speculation Swift is recreating the fairytale setting of her 2008 Love Story music video, which saw the singer transformed as a medieval princess awaiting her suitor.

One workman told the Daily Mail: ‘It’s incredible inside.’

One female cop who spoke to the Daily Mail said, ‘it’s so not like her,’ of the ostentatious wedding.

Indeed, Swift’s exertion of her famous control-freakery over an extremely public venue that can hold 22,000 people – and all over the July 4 weekend – has raised eyebrows in some quarters.

In one particularly farcical moment, exclusive Daily Mail footage captured workers carefully rolling out a plush red carpet outside the venue Tuesday, only for a visibly flustered aide to rush over moments later and order it be removed.

As for the happy couple, the singer’s private jet landed at Morristown Airport in New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon, 30 miles from her $50million Tribeca townhouse.

It is unclear if Swift was on board, but a convoy of six cars arrived to meet the plane.

Kelce, meanwhile, was later filmed out on a solo run near her home.

Public reaction on the streets of New York City has been mixed. ‘Swiftie’ Breanna Spencer, 26, traveled to MSG from her home in Queens at 6.30am on Wednesday to soak up the atmosphere.

‘I’m sure she’s going to turn it [MSG] into something really spectacular,’ Spencer said. ‘I’m still hoping part of this will involve fans as well.’

But some commuters used to battling the arena’s neighboring Penn Station were horrified at the chaos the wedding will no doubt unleash during rush hour the evening before the July 4 holiday weekend.

‘It’s a sh**show,’ one commuter trying to get home to New Jersey told the Daily Mail, adding that the influx of World Cup fans to the city was already bad enough.

‘And on top of this crap we have to deal with this Taylor Swift stuff.

‘I can’t imagine anything worse than being married in the heat in this city on the holiday weekend and amid the World Cup and everything else. What was she thinking?’

Business owners in the highly congested MSG area have also voiced concerns over a potential loss of revenue due to heighted security restrictions. A permit has been filed to close the streets surrounding MSG in Midtown Manhattan from Thursday through midday on Saturday.

An insider told NBC News that 1,100 guests have RSVP’d and are expected to attend Swift’s July 3 wedding.

Sources previously claimed to the Daily Mail that guests – including family and close friends – were required to sign an NDA before receiving any information about the wedding.

For added protection, Swift and Kelce have also individually watermarked each invitation using guests’ first and last names repeatedly across the design, making any leaked invite instantly traceable, say TMZ.

Details of Swift’s wedding dress are, of course, being kept under lock and key. But one recent report had it that the pop star had commissioned at least five different custom gowns to wear over the course of the celebrations.

Designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of the New York-based brand Monse are though to be included in the running. The duo were recently co-creative directors of Oscar de la Renta until their exit in February.

In April, an insider told the Daily Mail that Swift’s wedding dress could be inspired by the gown Elizabeth Taylor wore for her 1950 wedding to Conrad Hilton.

Swift has a song titled Elizabeth Taylor on her most recent album, The Life of a Showgirl.
