TLC Star Karen Derrico’s Arrest: Tense Phone Call with Child Highlights Alleged Threats to Ex

0

Karen Derrico is currently entangled in a legal battle, facing several charges. These accusations stem from purported threats she made against her former partner, Deon Derrico, and have recently been intensified by the release of a troubling audio recording involving a confrontation with one of her children.

The audio, obtained by TMZ, features a turbulent exchange where Karen chastises her child for allegedly calling her a “liar.”

During the phone call, Karen is heard expressing her frustration, “You don’t know what the hell I’m going through and what I’ve been through. You’re only going by what he said.” She appeared to be referencing Deon at this moment. Her heated remarks continued, stating, “I’m the freaking one that carried your little behind. I’m the one that told the doctors no when they asked me to abort your little ass. Don’t ever do that again, because you make me regret it.”

Following Karen’s declarations of regret, another child interjected, stating, “No wonder why you said you were going to kill me.”

Karen swiftly refuted this accusation made by the child.

“No, no, no, I never said I’m gonna,” Karen said. “I said I’d kill you if you pissed me off,” adding that her son had “disrespected me.”

In response to the audio, Karen’s attorney Jess Marchese described the phone call to Oxygen as a “total nothing burger” and “not a crime (other than someone surreptitiously recording someone).”

“[This was] a child taking the side of their father,” Marchese said, “obviously trying to bait Karen.”

The audio was published two days after Karen was arraigned on charges of violating a temporary restraining order, harassment, aggravated stalking and preventing or dissuading a witness from testifying or producing evidence with immediate threat or use of physical force, according to a criminal complaint provided to Oxygen.

Karen, who was charged under the name Karen Evonne Carter, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

“The allegations are completely false,” Marchese previously told Oxygen, “and we will prove they were completely fabricated by Mr. Derrico.”

Among the allegations laid out in the criminal complaint, Karen was accused of “willfully, unlawfully, and knowingly” threatening to cause bodily injury to Deon in a June 17 email. This, authorities said, caused Deon to have “reasonable fear that the threat will be carried out.”

“I want you dead,” she allegedly wrote, per the court records. ”I could kill you and it won’t even bother me to go to jail and I’ll kill any of my kids if they take your side.”

Authorities said Karen also allegedly tried to prevent Deon from attending a court proceeding pertaining to a temporary order for protection against domestic violence they had in place. According to the criminal complaint, Karen allegedly threatened Deon on May 2, “telling him to watch out, that she is getting a gun and/or will have someone kill him before he can go to court.”

Per court records, the aggravated stalking charge against her stems from allegations that Karen threatened Deon’s “immediate safety” by claiming she had a gun and would “kill him and/or his new girlfriend and/or his children.”

“It really alarmed and alerted me when my children told me that she had threatened to kill them,” Deon said in an interview with Parade.

He claimed “the threats started” when he filed a temporary protective order against her and he didn’t reply to her emails asking to resolve their legal matters.

“She emailed me more, emailed me more,” he said. “And then eventually the emails just started to escalate. And so some of the same threats that had been said to me verbally were now in email and as well my children.”

Karen’s legal team has maintained her innocence.

“We have proven at this point with about 90% certainty,” Marchese told Oxygen, “that these emails are forgeries.”

Karen is scheduled to return to court Aug. 6, according to court records reviewed by Oxygen.

Ivanka Trump’s Heartfelt Reveal: Coping with Jared Kushner’s Absence

0

Ivanka Trump recently shared her sadness over her husband Jared Kushner’s absence on Father’s Day.

The 44-year-old entrepreneur spent June 21 at Camp David in Maryland, celebrating with her father, President Donald Trump, as well as her siblings and her three children.

Although Ivanka appreciated the family gathering, she expressed regret that her husband had to ‘sacrifice’ the day by not being with them.

Before sharing a series of photos from the weekend on her Instagram Story, Ivanka took a moment to reflect on the day with a heartfelt message.

“Last Sunday, we came together at Camp David with my dad, my siblings, our children, and their cousins,” she wrote. “I’m grateful for another Father’s Day we could spend in each other’s company.”

Turning her attention to her husband of 16 years, she continued: ‘Jared couldn’t be with us. But his absence was one born on purpose. And we felt his presence all the same.’

Ivanka added: ‘The older I get, the more I realize that family is built in both the extraordinary moments and the ordinary ones: a walk, a laugh, a story shared around the dinner table.

‘These become the memories our children carry forward. Feeling especially grateful for the fathers who love, lead, and serve through both presence and sacrifice.’

Despite Jared’s absence, it looked like Ivanka was able to enjoy some precious quality time with her loved ones.

In one snap, she posed with her lookalike daughter, Arabella, 14, and her two sons, Joseph, 12, and Theodore, ten, outside the Camp David sign.

Another photo included the same sign and saw Ivanka and her younger brother Eric Trump, 42, in the saddles of their respective horses.

Ivanka made sure to spend time in the company of her younger half-sister Tiffany Trump, 32, too and the pair cozied up together while sitting at a dining table laden with white roses.

The event really was a family affair with the likes of Don Jr and his new bride Bettina, 39, there, along with Eric and his wife Lara Trump, 43, and their children Luke, eight and Carolina, six.

Tiffany was also joined by her husband Michael Boulos and their son Alexander, one.

Camp David is a 125-acre country retreat for the President, situated in the wooded hills of Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick County, Maryland.

Also today, First Daughter Ivanka shared snaps from her brother Don Jr’s recent Bahamas wedding.

Don Jr and his new wife Bettina legally tied the knot in a Palm Beach ceremony but followed it up with a sun-soaked event limited to their closest friends and family members.

Reminiscing about the vacation earlier today, Ivanka wrote: ‘Still basking in the joy of these memories! Congratulations, you two! Love you!’

She completed the post with a series of emojis, which included a seashell, red heart, the ocean and a trio of stars.

The carousel included shots of Ivanka cuddling up to husband Jared on the beach before being photobombed by Don Jr.

Bettina also playfully embraced the couple during a night trip to the sand.

Elsewhere, Ivanka shared images of her fashion-forward ensembles, the crystal-clear water, the newlyweds inside the chapel and a selection of photos starring other family members including Tiffany and Kai Trump.

And it seemed that Bettina was touched by the upload as she was quick to comment: ‘Thank you sweet sister. Love you.’

Unveiling Alura In-Ze: Where You’ve Seen Supergirl’s Familiar Face Before

0

“Supergirl” might not have achieved commercial success at the box office, but one area where it certainly excelled was in its casting choices, which shone across the board. Milly Alcock’s portrayal of Supergirl was a standout, while Jason Momoa’s depiction of Lobo was picture-perfect. The film’s commitment to dynamic casting reached beyond the main leads, showcasing an ensemble filled with actors that captivated audiences with their roles. Noteworthy standouts included Matthias Schoenaerts, known for movies like “Bullhead” and “The Danish Girl,” who took on the sinister character of Krem of the Yellow Hills, and David Krumholtz, familiar from “Numb3rs” and “Oppenheimer,” cast as Kara Zor-El’s father, Zor-El.

A prime example of this thoughtful casting can be seen in the role of Kara’s mother, Alura. Emily Beecham, a seasoned actress, brings depth to Alura with a performance that stands out as among the best in the film. Beecham’s name might already be familiar, thanks to her extensive work in both film and television.

Emily Beecham is an award-winning actress with credits to spare

Emily Beecham, who snagged the Cannes Film Festival best actress award in 2019 for “Little Joe,” has built an impressive resume since 2006. Horror enthusiasts might remember her as Karen in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s chilling “28 Weeks Later.” Fans of the Coen brothers would recognize her as Dierdre in the film industry satire “Hail, Caesar!” from 2016. In 2021, Beecham appeared as Catherine in “Cruella,” a Disney villain origin story directed by “Supergirl” helmer Craig Gillespie. She also starred as Maura Franklin in “1899,” the ambitious follow-up to “Dark” by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, a series that, unfortunately, left audiences hanging after a single season.

In an interview with Digital Spy UK, Beecham shared her thoughts about “Supergirl,” and it was clear that she appreciated her time on the project. “I think it will genuinely be really good,” Beecham said. “I think Craig Gillespie is always a brilliant director. He’s really spontaneous and fun and funny. He’s a little bit unexpected.” Beecham also had plenty of good things to say about Milly Alcock. “I love Milly. She’s so great,” she said. “She’s a spontaneous actress as well. Very instinctual.”

“Supergirl” is currently showing in theaters, inviting audiences to witness this casting triumph firsthand.

JetBlue Flight Encounters Drone While Landing at JFK: Safety Concerns Grow

0

A JetBlue Airways pilot reported encountering a drone while making a descent toward John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Monday morning, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to the FAA, the pilot of JetBlue Flight 948, which was traveling from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas, reported the drone collision at approximately 3,000 feet in the air. This occurred at about 7:15 a.m. EDT during the plane’s final approach to JFK.

The FAA is currently looking into the matter but stated that an inspection conducted after the flight did not indicate any damage to the aircraft from the drone.

Flight records from FlightAware show that the flight departed Las Vegas at 11:51 p.m. PDT and successfully landed at JFK by 7:25 a.m. EDT, a full 39 minutes ahead of schedule. JetBlue confirmed that the landing went smoothly and passengers exited the plane without any issues.

“Ensuring safety is our foremost concern, and we will participate fully in any subsequent investigations,” JetBlue assured in their statement.

Audio shared by @turbinetraveler on social platform X captured the pilot informing an air traffic controller of the incident.

“Just quickly, I couldn’t talk to approach, but we collided with a drone back there in the turn,” the pilot said after the controller cleared him to land on runway 13 left.

When the controller asked the pilot to confirm what he said, the latter added that the drone “hit us right above the cockpit.”

The pilot later said the plane was roughly 10 to 12 miles from JFK, located in Queens, New York, when the incident occurred. When the controller asked the pilot if he needed any assistance, he said no.

The incident came just three days after the crew of United Airlines Flight 1513 reported a drone sighting while on approach to Newark Liberty International Airport, according to the FAA. The United flight landed safely at the airport in New Jersey, and the FAA is investigating the incident.

The FAA said Monday it receives more than 100 drone-sighting reports near airports each month, despite the fact that operating drones around airplanes, helicopters and airports is illegal.

Unauthorized operators face stiff fines and criminal charges, including possible jail time, according to the FAA. The agency noted it is legal to fly a drone under 400 feet in “most locations,” with exceptions for the airspace around airports.

Denny’s Closure in Southern California Sparks Outcry in Beach Community

0

After close to sixty years of serving the community, a cherished Denny’s located in San Diego’s Point Loma area has shut its doors for good, leaving patrons lamenting the loss of a cherished local landmark.

The closure caught the neighborhood by surprise. Regulars who visited the diner at the corner of Rosecrans and Jarvis Street last week found it unexpectedly closed, with locks on the doors and signs announcing its closure.

“It’s been around as long as I have,” remarked Ed Baier, a longtime resident who shared his thoughts with CBS 8. He described the Denny’s, which had been welcoming guests since 1966, as a vital community hub that connected multiple generations.

For many locals, this marks the end of a long era filled with memories.

“I’m really disappointed,” said Kate Yamashiro to the station, recounting how her high school softball team often gathered there. “I have fond memories here, and it’s really sad to see it go.”

“It’s not about the food, it’s the memories,” another commented on Facebook. “It’s tradition for our high school marching band kids to meet there for breakfast before their tournaments.”

The writing had been on the wall for a couple of months though. The half-acre lot had quietly been up for lease since April, according to real estate brochures. Realtors are actively looking for another restaurant to move in to the space now.

While the Rosecrans location is gone, diners looking for a Grand Slam are being redirected to visit a nearby Denny’s on West Point Loma Boulevard, which remains open.

The closure comes as Denny’s is trimming its national footprint. The chain previously announced plans to shutter up to 150 under performing locations in an effort to improve profitability.

Inmates Seize Control of North Carolina Jail Sections, Holding Two Officers Hostage

0

Authorities in North Carolina managed to regain control of a jail after inmates overpowered guards, held them hostage, and temporarily took over sections of the facility, officials reported on Monday.

The chaos unfolded at 5 a.m. at the Bertie-Martin Regional Detention Center in Windsor. During the early hours, inmates attacked correctional officers on duty and seized control of certain areas of the jail, according to Bertie County Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin.

“Ensuring the protection of our staff, inmates, and the community remains our highest priority,” Ruffin emphasized earlier. “We are actively collaborating with various law enforcement agencies to resolve this incident both swiftly and securely.”

Two corrections officers were taken hostage, while a third corrections officer escaped, Ruffin said. The first responding deputy arrived within two minutes of the initial alert but was unable to enter the jail.

Authorities quickly set up a perimeter around the detention center.

At the time of the takeover, 88 inmates and three guards were inside the facility.

At around 9:30 a.m., 18 inmates and the two captive guards were released unharmed following negotiations. Minutes later, another large group of inmates was released and left the facility.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) then entered the jail and worked to take the remaining 10 inmates back into custody. At around 2 p.m., the SBI said the facility was cleared.

“All inmates and staff are safe and accounted for, and those who sustained injuries have received treatment. Inmates have been transferred to other facilities for housing, and the detention center will remain secured while personnel assess the extent of the damage,” the agency wrote on X. “The public is asked to avoid the area as crews continue working to clear the scene.”

Investigators have not yet determined what triggered the incident, Ruffin added. He said there was no threat to the public.

Prince Harry Determined to Bring Archie and Lilibet to the UK: Exploring Every Possibility

0

Today, Prince Harry committed to pursuing “every available option” to ensure his wife and children can join him in the UK next month. A source close to the prince described the denial of round-the-clock police protection for his family as “bizarre.”

Currently vacationing in Europe with their children, Archie and Lilibet, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are amid plans to visit the UK in July, which have turned into what some insiders call a “total farce.”

Prince Harry is scheduled to be in the UK early next month to kickstart preparations for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. He had hoped that Meghan and their two children would accompany him on this trip.

The itinerary for their visit was to include a meeting with King Charles and a significant visit to Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, the final resting place of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.

Archie and Lilibet have not had the opportunity to see their grandfather since their last visit to Britain in June 2022, which was for the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

However, Harry is said to be furious that his request for a review of their police protection was turned down ‘at the 11th hour’. He is reported to blame his father’s aides – the so-called ‘men in grey suits’ – with whom relations remain strained.

A source close to Harry has described the decision as ‘bizarre’, insisting it was wrong to deny full armed protection to the son of the monarch, who is fifth in line to the throne, with Archie and Lili sixth and seventh.

In a statement on Monday, his spokesman said Harry wants his family to have ‘the opportunity to enjoy the UK’ – but not without ‘proportionate protective security’.

‘The Duke continues to explore every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK,’ the statement said.

In a nod to the King’s offer of a royal palace as a base for their Invictus trip, which has yet to be accepted, the spokesman added: ‘Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place.

‘The issue has never been accommodation. The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit.’

‘The independent Risk Management Board that Ravec itself decided was necessary last November has still not taken place.

‘It is therefore difficult to understand how the proportionality of the current arrangements can credibly be maintained without that independent assessment.’

The Sussexes are believed to be at their £6.3million holiday home in Portugal, with the Duke now reconsidering bringing his wife and children to Britain after learning they will not receive 24/7 police protection.

On Friday they were all set to come – within 24 hours the plan was being reconsidered by Harry.

It is understood that the Sussexes’ programme remains the same, for now.

An insider close to Harry has blamed ‘those around the King’ who sit on the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which decides security arrangements for VIPs.

There was also criticism that ‘celebrities like Taylor Swift’ receive ‘state-funded security’ – unlike the Sussexes. The singer was given a police escort in London two years ago after a terror attack on one of her shows was foiled in Europe.

The source told ITV News that they believe that Harry is not being offered a security review for the July trip because a third of Ravec is drawn from Buckingham Palace and Prince William’s office.

A royal insider told the Daily Mail that the Sussexes’ trip was fast becoming an ‘unwelcome mess’ for both Harry and the King.

‘Harry really wants his children to see their grandpa. It’s not clear how keen the King is to see them if it involves all these theatrics,’ the insider said.

‘Unfortunately, what should have been a chance to build bridges has led to more mistrust on both sides,’ the insider said.

‘Harry is furious that the King’s aides leaked plans for the Sussex family to stay at Buckingham Palace for part of the visit. He feels that has endangered his family because, while they are protected by the security cordon when they are inside the palace, they are vulnerable as soon as they leave it.

‘At least when they were living at Frogmore Cottage there were several exits from the Windsor estate that made it more difficult for them to be spotted and followed. But of course, they were evicted from there to punish them for quitting.

‘Harry is now looking at alternative royal accommodation for part of the stay as well as somewhere else that is privately owned.’

On Friday, Harry’s team had released details of the itinerary for the five-day visit next month – but within 24 hours he had changed his mind following another row over his security.

‘Their plans to see family… and visit charitable causes close to the Duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour. He’s looking at every option to get the family here safely,’ a second source said.

Harry is said to be ‘desperate’ for Archie and Lilibet to see their grandfather, with one option being considered to fly them in and out of Britain in a single day from Europe, where they are on holiday.

The family are likely to be in Portugal, although their exact location has not been confirmed.

Meghan is reported to have enlisted Soho House designers to recreate the brand’s signature style at the Portuguese villa the couple bought for £6.3million in 2023.

Harry and Meghan are thought to be staying at their holiday home at the ultra-exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club in Melides.

The private estate is also home for part of the year to Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who are close to the Sussexes and have two young children, with a third on the way.

The Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English said last night that Buckingham Palace’s patience with the Sussexes – and the constant psychodrama surrounding them – is being pushed to its limits.

The Palace offered them the use of a royal residence, but this has not been accepted with only a few days to go.

A source told her: ‘For the sake of family harmony, the Palace would have been perfectly happy with a peaceful and low-key visit. Yet, once again, they have turned it into a soap opera. It’s tiresome.’

King Charles is said to be pragmatic and unlikely to reject any overture to meet his grandchildren discreetly for the sake of family harmony. However, recent events are making that increasingly difficult.

Insiders say the King would be deeply dismayed if the meeting no longer goes ahead.

And the Duke himself had been described as ‘desperate’ for Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, to see their grandfather.

One source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘On Friday night the Sussex office issued an op [operational] note saying that the full family would be coming to the UK and they had accepted royal accommodation. Next day they pull out.

‘It’s a total joke and a farce. They are totally playing into the hands of those who say they court drama like this to sell Meghan’s jam.’

Harry has long argued that security concerns have prevented him bringing his family to Britain after his taxpayer-funded protection changed

Harry has long argued that security concerns have prevented him bringing his family to Britain after his taxpayer-funded protection changed

While the children are not expected to attend any public events, the Duchess was scheduled to join her husband on visits to Royal Hospital Chelsea and an Invictus event in Birmingham.

Details of the trip were announced on Friday evening.

But shortly afterwards, according to reports, the Duke was told that his application for security for the visit had been denied.

The King’s estranged son was stripped of his 24-hour, taxpayer-funded armed guard on visits to the UK after he quit royal duties and moved to the US in search of a lucrative commercial career.

He then lost a High Court appeal over the move, which he vehemently criticised as an ‘establishment stitch-up’.

But it then emerged that the Home Office, via its risk management board Ravec, had ordered a reassessment of his situation.

However, the Duke was told last week that the review had not taken place and had in fact been ‘paused’.

It means his family’s taxpayer-funded protection in the UK does not extend beyond royal residences. The Sussexes do, however, travel with their own bodyguards.

On Saturday, a source close to the California-based Duke and Duchess accused the Home Office of ‘wilfully creating conditions that are making it nearly impossible’ for them to move around Britain.

Since quitting royal duties to move abroad in 2020, Harry has not been given police protection for anything other than official royal occasions, such as Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Normally he must provide 28 days’ notice of plans to visit Britain, with security decided on a case-by-case basis.

King Charles last saw his grandchildren in 2022, when the Sussexes were in Britain for Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

The family celebrated Lilibet’s first birthday together at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

A source said: ‘The precarious security situation and endless speculation about where the family will stay is making the planning and logistics for the private security team increasingly difficult.

‘There have been three separate incidents in the UK in less than 12 months that we know of, each involving a fixated person getting to within feet of the Duke.

‘In some circumstances, because of the limitations on what private security have the authority to do, they weren’t able to remove the person.

‘Harry is a big guy, a former soldier and generally pretty robust when it comes to handling these incidents.

‘It’s what impact such moments would have on the kids that everyone is most concerned about.’

While Meghan shares photographs and videos of their children on social media, their faces are obscured, and they do not attend public events with their parents.

Among the options said to be under consideration would be to fly the Duchess and the children in and out of Britain in one day, from a location in mainland Europe.

Prince Harry is said to have been given assurances from Buckingham Palace that there is ‘hope’ a meeting with the King could still happen.

The Sussexes’ private security team has drawn up its own risk assessment, which has identified serious concerns.

A Government spokesman said: ‘The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.

‘It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.’

Teen Robbery Suspect Receives Four-Year Sentence for $19k Watch Heist in Decatur

In a stark reminder of the consequences of youth crime, the case of a Decatur teenager culminated in a sentencing hearing on Monday, leaving a community pondering the repercussions of a momentary lapse leading to a lengthy penalty.

Nineteen-year-old Jerrion Jarrett learned his fate before the court, standing solemnly as the sentence was handed down. Having earlier entered a guilty plea to charges of aggravated robbery, Jarrett faced the reality of a four-year prison sentence for his role in stealing a $19,000 watch at gunpoint earlier this year.

The court proceedings unfolded with both prosecution and defense presenting their perspectives, each side submitting one piece of evidence. Jarrett also took the opportunity to speak on his behalf, attempting to sway the decision of Judge Thomas Griffith, who held the power to determine the length of his incarceration.

The terms of Jarrett’s plea agreement generously allowed Judge Griffith to exercise discretion over the sentencing. Weighing the gravity of the crime, Griffith concluded that a prison term was essential, reasoning that probation would fail to reflect the severity of the offense and that incarceration was necessary to ensure public safety.

Decatur Police previously reported that Jarrett was one of two people who, on March 13, approached a man outside T’bacco Shack on Grand Avenue, pulled guns and demanded his Rolex. The victim complied and both offenders, along with a third person accompanying them, ran into a nearby house.

The victim saw this, called police and pointed the responding officers to the house. The Emergency Response Team surrounded the house and demanded the people inside come out. Jarrett was the only one to do so, and police didn’t indicate that anyone else was arrested.

A court-authorized search of the home found both the victim’s watch and clothing that one of the robbers was seen on surveillance footage wearing.

Jarrett was charged with two felony counts of robbery: a Class X count of armed robbery and a Class 1 count of aggravated robbery. He pleaded guilty to the latter count while the former was dismissed.

Court records show Jarrett was given credit for the three months he spent in custody at the Macon County Jail, which will be deducted from his four-year sentence. He is also day-for-day eligible, which would cut his sentence in half.

He will be on parole for one year following his release from prison.
