Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO Part Ways After a Decade Together

0

Jelly Roll has initiated divorce proceedings from his wife, Bunnie XO, concluding nearly ten years of marriage.

The 41-year-old artist, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, submitted the divorce documents in Tennessee last month, as reported by TMZ.

The Daily Mail has contacted Jelly Roll’s representatives for a statement but has not yet received a response.

The couple was last publicly seen together during his concert in Las Vegas this past February.

According to sources speaking to TMZ, the decision to part ways was amicable. The couple, who married in 2016, would have marked their 10th wedding anniversary this August.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie first crossed paths in 2015 and became friends due to her being in a relationship at the time. However, following her breakup, she and Jelly Roll sparked up a romance.

The following year, the pair tied the knot at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

‘We hit it off. She said she fell in love with the saddest eyes in the room,’ the country singer previously recalled on how they first met on the radio show Taste Of Country Nights in 2022.

‘I’m not going to act like I shot my shot. She kind of shot hers. We had mutual friends,’ Jelly Roll continued.

Both he and Bunnie briefly split in 2018 after the music artist had an affair and admitted that cheating on his wife had been ‘one of the worst moments’ of his life.

He had gotten candid on the topic during an episode of the Human School podcast last year.

‘I don’t talk about this publicly at all,’ Jelly Roll began. ‘But one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife.’

The singer continued, ‘Because it was the first time that I was like, “I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.” It just really, really, really blew me back.’

He explained that he ‘did a lot of work to repair’ his relationship with Bunnie and added that the ‘repair has been special.’

‘We are stronger than we could have ever been,’ Jelly Roll told the podcast host at the time. ‘I wish our story would’ve went in the way that it never had an affair.

‘I am in no way glad it happened. But man, I am proud of who we are today. You know what I mean? I truly am.’

Further details of the singer’s affair is not known.

Bunnie referenced to the split in a TikTok video uploaded back in 2024 that showed the pair posing for photos.

The media personality added text over the short reel which read: ‘Who knew that us breaking up in 2018, me moving back to Vegas & you coming to get me back – would have put us on this wild journey called life.

‘We finally committed to each other & did everything we promised each other the first night in 2016.’

Bunnie concluded with, ‘Our castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground. I yuh you so mushhh.’

Back in 2023, the couple exchanged vows once again in Las Vegas at the same chapel they initially said ‘I do’ in 2016.

'I am in no way glad it happened. But man, I am proud of who we are today. You know what I mean? I truly am,' he said; seen in January in L.A.

Earlier this year in February, Bunnie revealed intimacy challenges with the singer before his 300lb weight loss transformation.

‘We always had a sex life, but there were mountains and valleys that we had to go through, especially when he was so big,’ she told Us Weekly.

Following his weight loss journey, she added that the star has a ‘new zest for life’ and she is able to see him ‘be the man that I always saw that he was.’

Bunnie continued, ‘Even when he was 500 pounds, this dude was an agile, big guy. I’m like, “You are athletic under that meat suit.”

‘Now that he has the weight off of him, he just gets to be who I always knew that he was, and I think it’s brought a new sense of happiness to him. Any time he’s happy, I’m happy.’

Saluda Resident Admits to Money Laundering, Receives Sentencing

AUGUSTA, Ga. – A resident of Saluda has received a federal court sentence following her guilty plea to charges of money laundering, as disclosed by the U.S. Department of Justice this Monday.

Laura Frantz, aged 62, admitted guilt to the charge of money laundering and has been sentenced to 27 months in prison. In addition to her prison term, she is required to pay $138,673 in restitution and will be subject to three years of supervised release once her incarceration concludes.

Court documents reveal that from 2020 to 2023, Frantz was involved in a business email compromise scheme in Richmond County. She knowingly handled financial transactions with funds illegally obtained from victim companies, which were then funneled into bank accounts under her control.

The FBI highlighted that Frantz was not entitled to these funds and had been cautioned several times that her actions might constitute criminal behavior. Despite these warnings, she continued to withdraw and use the illicitly acquired money.

Matt Ploskunak, Supervisory Senior Resident Agent at the FBI’s Augusta office, emphasized the agency’s commitment to cracking down on such illegal activities, stating, “The FBI and its partners will relentlessly pursue individuals looking to illegally move funds for illicit purposes. Anyone engaged in this type of criminal activity should realize they are not outside of the reach of law enforcement.”

Breaking News: Tiago Splitter Poised to Lead Bulls as New Head Coach – What This Means for Chicago’s Future

CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls are on the verge of appointing their new head coach, as revealed in a report by ESPN Senior Insider Shams Charania on Monday morning.

According to Charania, the Bulls are in the final stages of securing Tiago Splitter for the role. Splitter, who previously stood in as interim head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, is set to take the reins.

At 41 years old, Splitter is poised to become the 25th head coach in the storied history of the Bulls, following the departure of Billy Donovan. Donovan stepped down in April after directing the team for six seasons.

Originally from Brazil, Splitter took charge in Portland during an unexpected turn of events last season. He stepped up after the team’s former head coach, Chauncey Billups, faced legal troubles. Billups was indicted by federal authorities in connection with a rigged poker game, a case in which he has pleaded not guilty to charges of money laundering and wire fraud.

During his interim tenure with the Blazers, Splitter guided the team to a respectable 42-40 record, securing the 7th seed in the Western Conference for the 2025-26 season. Under his leadership, the team advanced past the play-in tournament but eventually succumbed to the San Antonio Spurs, the eventual Western Conference champions, in a five-game first-round series.

Prior to coaching, Splitter played overseas before being selected in the first round (No. 28 overall) by the Spurs in the 2007 NBA Draft. A 6-foot-11 center and power forward, Splitter played his first five seasons in San Antonio, helping the Spurs win the NBA title in 2013-14.

Splitter finished his seven-year playing career with the Atlanta Hawks for one season and the Philadelphia 76ers for one season.

After his playing career, Splitter was a scout with the Brooklyn Nets and an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets before joining the staff in Portland prior to last season. He was then elevated to the interim head role when Billups stepped down.

Splitter’s hiring is the first major move for new Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Bryson Graham, hired in early May to take over for Arturas Karnisovas, who was fired late last season.

According to Charania’s report, sources say top Bulls officials, including Graham, met with four finalists for the head coaching job: Splitter, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori, Atlanta Hawks assistant Ryan Schmidt and current Bulls assistant Wes Unseld Jr.

Splitter and Graham now lead the franchise through a critical offseason. The Bulls haven’t reached the playoffs since the 2021-22 season and haven’t advanced past the first round since the 2014-15 season.

The Bulls have two first-round picks, including a top-five selection, in the upcoming NBA Draft, considered one of the deepest in some time. The Bulls landed the No. 4 spot in the draft lottery with their own pick, and they also received Portland’s pick, No. 15 overall, as the final transaction from the 2021 three-team trade that sent Lauri Markkanen to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The draft is June 23-24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

In Brief

  • From Ghana to Brazil, team nicknames can stretch back decades..
  • Many reflect pivotal moments in a nation’s history, culture, and identity.

The Socceroos stand out as the only national football team with a kangaroo-inspired nickname, a unique identity amidst a crowd of lion-themed monikers—five teams at this year’s World Cup feature “lions” in their names.

This distinctive nickname was embraced by the Australian national team during their journey to the 1974 World Cup, marking their debut on the global stage in West Germany that year.

Fast forward over five decades, and the Socceroos have made a significant impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing a decisive 2-0 victory against the higher-ranked Türkiye.

With the World Cup now expanded to include 48 teams, this tournament offers even more nations a chance to shine on the international stage, and fans are presented with additional opportunities to revel in their teams’ achievements and rich histories.

Many teams participating in the World Cup have nicknames that encapsulate tales ranging from revolutionary heroes and Indigenous communities to medieval folklore and the spirit of post-apartheid regeneration, proudly displaying their heritage alongside their team colors.

Here are the stories behind the team nicknames for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Curaçao – The Blue Wave

The smallest nation to every qualify for the World Cup, Curaçao fans have been in raptures. The team fell 7-1 to Germany in their opening World Cup match, but many were proud to even be there and to score a goal against four-time winners, as one of four debutante nations in this tournament.

The football team has become a symbol of joy and strength for the island with a population of about 115,000 similar to that of Darwin.

The island has a turbulent history of colonisation and remains a part of the kingdom of the Netherlands.

Curaçao’s Prime Minister, Gilmar Pisas, sees this World Cup as an opportunity. The team known as the Blue Wave — a nod to the shimmering turquoise water that surrounds the island — and blue is a theme for everything in the country, right down to the Blue Curaçao liquor that is popular around the world (even though it has an orange flavor).

For the next few weeks, Pisas wants the nation to be Blue Nation as well.

“We will become part of something larger than ourselves, something that, despite our differences, brings us together,” Pisas said. “We share a single anthem and a single flag … rather than being divided into separate camps. We are, finally, truly united. It is a project dedicated to the construction of a nation. It acknowledges that your people, and you yourself, are an integral part of this collective mission — the ‘Blue Nation.’”

Ghana — The Black Stars

Coming from the black star centred in the national flag, Ghana’s nickname represents a symbol of African freedom and unity adopted when the country became the first sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence from colonial rule in 1957.

Tartan refers to the patterns traditionally worn on Scottish kilts and remains one of world football’s most recognisable travelling fan bases.

Uruguay — Los Charrúas

Uruguay’s nickname pays tribute to the Charrúa people, the Traditional Owners of the region long before European settlement.

Today, the nickname honours an important part of Uruguay’s Indigenous heritage and has come to symbolise the resilience, and fighting spirit for which Uruguayan football teams are known.

Iran vs. New Zealand FIFA World Cup 2026 Clash at SoFi Stadium: Political Tensions and Passionate Protests Ignite in Los Angeles

0

The FIFA World Cup is often considered an escape from the complexities of daily life.

For those 90 minutes of play, the focus shifts from politics to pure passion. National boundaries fade, and people unite in their shared love for the game. This has always been the magic of sports—its ability to bring people together rather than drive them apart.

However, on Monday night at SoFi Stadium, temporarily dubbed Los Angeles Stadium for the World Cup, that sense of unity was elusive.

The match between Iran and New Zealand in their World Cup opener was about much more than just securing three points in Group G. It was laden with the gravity of conflict, the sorrow of displacement, and the longstanding political and cultural tensions. It raised profound questions about national representation when the government is not recognized by many of its own citizens.

Hours before the match began, the scene outside the stadium was eerily calm. Early-arriving fans were quiet and introspective, creating an atmosphere that felt like the calm before a storm.

Then the flags began to appear as an army of Iranians marched towards the stadium.

Not the official flag of the Islamic Republic that FIFA permits inside stadiums. The other one.

The lion-and-sun flag. The flag carried by many Iranians who fled the 1979 revolution.

Supporters hung the flag off cars, waved it proudly in the streets, and draped it over their shoulders like capes in parking lots and tailgates. Drivers honked in approval as the banners waved from sidewalks surrounding the stadium.

Before heading through security checkpoints, fans folded their flags carefully, knowing FIFA’s ban remained in effect after a Los Angeles judge refused a last-minute challenge to overturn it. Some fans, wearing the old flag as a t-shirt, were asked to turn their shirts inside out before entering the stadium.

Outside the stadium, protesters gathered near multiple entrances carrying giant lion-and-sun banners alongside American flags. Some held photographs of Iranians killed during recent demonstrations in Tehran. Others carried signs demanding players speak publicly about conditions inside the country.

“Speak. Share. Act,” they read. “Change. Change in Iran!” shouted the protestors.

Their message was directed not only at a government thousands of miles away, but at the men on the pitch wearing Iran’s jerseys.

That tension has followed this team throughout the tournament.

After months of conflict between the United States and Iran, questions about whether or not Iran should even participate in the World Cup became part of the story. The team decided to move its base camp from the U.S. to Tijuana. Visa complications affected key officials. President Donald Trump publicly questioned whether the squad should travel to America at all before FIFA intervened to guarantee security protections.

Yet when Iran captain Mehdi Taremi spoke Sunday, he attempted to draw a line between politics and football.

“We play for every Iranian,” he said. “We are here to bring joy.”

That may be true, but it’s also true that many Iranians no longer agree on what their national team represents.

For some immigrants, who fled the country during the revolution, the players are ambassadors of a nation. For others, they are unwilling symbols of a regime they oppose.

That divide made its way inside the stadium as well.

As the players were introduced, and Iran’s national anthem played, hundreds of supporters unveiled the prohibited flags and turned their backs toward the field.

During the eighth and ninth minutes, and again in the 18th and 19th minutes a small group of fans placed black blindfolds over their eyes to honor victims of anti-government protests.

And yet, somehow, the most memorable image of the night wasn’t political.

It was the representation of Los Angeles.

And it was everywhere.

In addition to Iran and New Zealand jerseys, there was a large swath of Mexico and United States jerseys as well. Kits from all 48 participating countries were scattered throughout the stadium. Fans wore club shirts from MLS, Liga MX, La Liga, Bundesliga, and the Premier League. There was Dodgers jerseys, Rams jerseys, Lakers jerseys, and even a few New York Knicks jerseys celebrating their long-awaited NBA title.

The crowd looked less like a soccer match between Iran and New Zealand and more like a census of the world’s most diverse city.

Fans who spoke to the California Post said they lived in Los Angeles and wanted to come out to watch the World Cup in their backyard. They admitted they had little connection to either team, but simply could afford the cost of tickets to his match, compared to the U.S. opener on Friday.

“This is the world’s game and we’re here to unify,” said two supporters wearing a USA and Mexico jersey.

Simply put, they wanted to be a part of history.

While others arrived carrying political grievances, cultural trauma and generational wounds, Los Angeles offered a reminder in the stands: that even in a fractured world, millions still show up believing sport can be one of the few places where humanity gathers before it argues and that unity is still worth the pursuit.

Teen Charged in Stepsister’s Death Aboard Carnival Cruise Now in Custody After Facing Adult Charges

0

A teenager accused of the sexual assault and murder of his 18-year-old stepsister aboard a Carnival Cruise ship turned himself in on Monday. This followed a federal judge’s reversal of his earlier decision on pretrial release, as the teen now faces charges as an adult.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami reported that Timothy Hudson is now in custody. The order to revoke Hudson’s pretrial release was issued by U.S. Magistrate Judge Edwin Torres last Wednesday but remained sealed until Monday afternoon. This order required Hudson to surrender to U.S. Marshals at the federal courthouse in Tampa on Monday morning.

Earlier in February, Judge Torres had permitted the then-16-year-old to stay with an uncle under electronic monitoring. However, once the case was moved to adult court in April, prosecutors argued for Hudson’s detention.

After reconsideration, the judge decided that Hudson’s pretrial detention should be managed under adult court guidelines, although he will be held in a suitable juvenile facility.

Judge Torres stated, “The Government has established, by clear and convincing evidence, that no condition or combination of conditions of release will reasonably assure the safety of the community going forward.”

Hudson has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse in the death of Anna Kepner. His federal public defenders have declined to comment on the charges.

Minors are rarely prosecuted in federal court, and this case landed there because Kepner apparently died in international waters, outside any state’s jurisdiction.

Kepner had been traveling on the Carnival Horizon ship in November with her family, including Hudson. Before the ship was scheduled to return to Florida, her body was found concealed under a bed in a room she was sharing with Hudson and another teen, a criminal complaint said.

The cause of Kepner’s Nov. 6 death was determined to be mechanical asphyxia, which is when an object or physical force stops someone from breathing.

Attorneys for the prosecution and the defense made arguments for and against Hudson being jailed until his trial during a May 27 hearing, but Torres said he wanted to speak with the Marshals Service about the logistics of detaining Hudson in central Florida, closer to his family, rather than South Florida, where the trial is taking place. Hudson walked out of the courthouse after that hearing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alejandra Lopez argued at the hearing that the crimes Hudson is accused of are so serious that the court shouldn’t risk another violent attack. An autopsy determined that Kepner had been pinned down and forcibly raped, the prosecutors said. She also noted that it likely took 3-5 minutes for Hudson to allegedly strangle Kepner until she was dead.

The prosecutor also argued that Hudson was a much greater flight risk because he now faces a possible life sentence if convicted of the adult charges. As a juvenile, he would have been released at age 21, regardless of what counts he was found delinquent on.

Evan Kuhl, with the Federal Public Defender’s office, told the judge during the hearing that Hudson has abided by the conditions of his release for months without issue.

Kepner’s father, Christopher Kepner, previously released a statement, saying the family was placing “trust in the justice system to pursue the truth with care and integrity.”

“The situation is deeply painful and complex for the entire family,” Kepner said.

Anna Kepner was a high school cheerleader at Temple Christian School in Titusville, Florida, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of Orlando. At her memorial service in November, family members encouraged people to wear bright colors instead of the traditional black “in honor of Anna’s bright and beautiful soul.”

Tragic B-52 Bomber Crash: Test Flight Claims Eight Lives in Devastating Accident

A B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after departing from Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday, resulting in the tragic loss of all eight individuals on board, military officials reported.

The aircraft went down at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time during a flight tied to an Air Force radar modernization program. Video footage from the scene showed debris scattered across a burned section of desert near the runway as emergency crews responded to the crash site.

“An Air Force B-52 Stratofortress carrying eight people on a routine test mission crashed today after take-off at 11:20 a.m. (PDT). Initial indications are that the crash was not survivable,” the base wrote on X.

The Associated Press (AP) revealed that the aircraft was carrying a combination of military personnel and government contractors. During a press conference, Col. James Hayes, deputy commander of the 412th Test Wing, confirmed there were no survivors from the crash.

“We lost eight great Americans,” stated Hayes, adding that authorities are in the process of notifying the victims’ families.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, with Hayes indicating that the investigation could span several months. At the time of the incident, the aircraft was engaged in testing an upgraded radar system intended to replace the outdated systems on the B-52 fleet.

The crash led to the temporary suspension of flight operations at the base and rerouting of incoming aircraft. Emergency response teams remained active at the crash site throughout the day, while the base restricted public access to ensure safety and security.

The crash forced officials to temporarily shut down flight operations at the base and divert incoming aircraft. Emergency crews continued working at the scene throughout the day while authorities restricted public access to the installation.

Former federal aviation accident investigator Jeff Guzzetti said the aircraft’s rapid descent shortly after takeoff could point to a problem affecting the bomber’s ability to maintain controlled flight. He noted that investigators will likely examine potential issues involving flight controls, engines, or equipment being tested during the mission. Officials have not released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families.

The B-52 Stratofortress first entered service in the 1950s and remains a key component of the U.S. military’s long-range strike capabilities. The bomber can carry both conventional and nuclear weapons and has supported American military operations for decades.

Edwards Air Force Base serves as a major center for aircraft development and testing. The installation’s 412th Test Wing oversees evaluations of Air Force aircraft, weapons systems, software, and related technologies before and after they enter service.

Tragedy struck near Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County, California, as a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after taking off, potentially claiming the lives of all eight crew members on board, according to official reports.

The aircraft was engaged in a standard test mission when the unfortunate incident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time on the Edwards airfield, as stated by the base authorities.

In a formal statement, Edwards Air Force Base reported, “Today, a B-52 Stratofortress from the Air Force, carrying eight crew members on a routine test mission, met with disaster shortly after takeoff at 11:20 a.m. Initial reports suggest the crash was not survivable. Emergency teams have been deployed, and efforts are underway to locate and account for all individuals involved.”

Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft, confirmed that two of its employees were among those aboard the ill-fated flight.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the eight crew members who lost their lives in the B-52 crash at Edwards Air Force Base, California,” Boeing said in a statement. “It is with great sadness that we confirm two Boeing employees were among those on board. We are in contact with their families and are offering support.”

The base said emergency crews responded immediately after the aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff. The airfield was closed following the crash, and all inbound aircraft were diverted.

Photos from the scene showed a plume of smoke rising near the wreckage.

“Please join me in praying for the B-52 crew at Edwards Air Force Base and the entire Edwards community,” Rep. Vince Fong wrote on X.

Officials later confirmed the B-52 was on a local test sortie supporting the bomber’s radar modernization program when it crashed. The crew included a mix of military personnel, government civilians and government contractors supporting the test mission.

The Air Force is pursuing a sweeping modernization effort for the B-52 fleet, including new Rolls-Royce F130 engines, upgraded avionics and a new AN/APQ-188 radar intended to keep the bomber flying into the 2050s.

In January, the Air Force awarded Boeing a roughly $2 billion contract to modify and test two B-52s equipped with the new engines ahead of a planned fleetwide upgrade.

The B-52 typically operates with a crew of five, including two pilots, a radar navigator, navigator and electronic warfare officer.

The aircraft is one of 76 B-52s remaining in the Air Force inventory. The fleet is expected to remain in service for decades as the Air Force pursues extensive modernization upgrades.

The nuclear-capable bomber first entered service in the 1950s and remains a central component of the U.S. strategic bomber force.

The last B-52 airframe lost in a crash was destroyed during a takeoff accident at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam in 2016.

Edwards is the Air Force’s premier flight-test center, and B-52s stationed there are frequently used for developmental and modernization testing rather than routine operational missions.
