Ms Rachel’s Political Activism Draws Pushback From Parents

0

With her denim overalls, pink shirt and coordinating headband, Rachel Accurso—better known to millions of young viewers as Ms. Rachel—may initially appear to be a familiar figure from children’s entertainment.

But Accurso has also become a polarizing figure in political debates, particularly after she began speaking publicly about Gaza as the Israel-Hamas war continued.

Critics have accused the children’s educator of repeating information associated with Hamas and promoting claims they say have not been independently verified.

Accurso recently expressed support for rapper Macklemore, who was removed from Ed Sheeran’s “Loop Tour” after repeatedly advocating for a “Free Palestine” and performing his anti-Israel track “Hind’s Hall” during a show at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

Macklemore said he planned to donate the $1 million he made from the tour to groups supporting Palestinians. Accurso subsequently said she would match that amount, directing her $1 million contribution to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, where she serves as an ambassador.

Another widely discussed episode involved a 2025 video in which Accurso referred to Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza as her “friend.”

The video was posted only days before Azaiza acknowledged concealing footage that showed Israeli hostages being assaulted by a crowd in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023.

Speaking on an Arabic-language podcast, Azaiza said he withheld the footage because he feared the Palestinians involved in the attacks could face danger.

Accurso later removed the video, although excerpts from it have continued to circulate online.

In an interview with the Guardian, Accurso defended her decision to take public positions on political issues, saying she has “a really good moral compass.”

Bethany Mandel, a Washington Examiner contributor, author and homeschooling mother of six, offered a different interpretation in comments to Fox News Digital. “This is the case for a lot of liberals,” Mandel said. “They don’t see it as a political perspective at all. They just see the world in black and white and what they are doing is so clearly correct.”

Mandel said the outlook can develop when public figures remain inside an ideological “bubble” and have limited engagement with people who disagree with them.

She argued that the pattern is especially troubling in discussions of the Gaza war, where some people may rely on a single account of events and repeat casualty figures published by Hamas-run organizations.

“It’s important to understand that she only cares about one narrative,” Mandel said of Accurso. She accused the entertainer of describing the situation in Gaza as genocide and of repeating casualty figures that, in her view, lack credibility. Mandel also said Accurso has embraced what she characterized as a Hamas-backed account of the conflict.

The controversy surrounding Accurso has also extended to the comments beneath her social media posts. In January 2026, she faced criticism after appearing to “like” a comment stating, “free America from the Jews.”

According to the Jerusalem Post, Accurso said she had intended to remove the comment but mistakenly selected both “like” and “hide.”

The outlet reported that, beneath Accurso’s apology, an account called “thepalestinenewsnetwork” commented, “Spoiler alert: They left the comment themselves.” Accurso responded with “ooooooooooohhhhh,” though that exchange was later deleted.

“She is serving as their mouthpiece for a lot of Americans, not just children and not just the adults that follow her,” Mandel told Fox News Digital.

Although Accurso’s political views drew heightened attention after she began discussing Gaza, Mandel argued that the entertainer had voiced left-leaning positions before. Mandel said she concluded Accurso “cares more about activism than education” after Accurso featured a nonbinary musician. Mandel did not identify the guest, but the description appeared to refer to Jules Hoffman, who has been featured in videos with Accurso.

“She’s had fellow musicians and performers on camera with her who have no gender, and she takes away gender from these individuals especially, and they are amorphous; they go by they/them,” Mandel said. “And it’s a woman, but you can’t really tell that, especially as a child.”

“And this is something that’s really very damaging to children who are in the early stages of development, because one of the first ways that children learn to organize the world around them is by categorization, and the easiest way for a toddler to categorize the world around them is by female and male.”

Mandel said that the erasure of gender for young children is something that could potentially have “detrimental consequences.”

“This is what Donald Rumsfeld talked about, the unknown unknowns,” Mandel explained, noting that altering foundational development markers are uncharted territory when it comes to early childhood education and socialization. “When we take that ability to categorize away from children, we’ve never done that in human history before. And it absolutely will have detrimental consequences to how they order the world around them, and we’re just going to have to find out what those consequences are.”

While not all parents may be concerned with gender representation or disagree with Accurso’s commentary on Gaza, Mandel argues that for most families, it’s only a matter of time before the children’s entertainer crosses a line.

“Parents need to choose these entertainers wisely because perhaps parents don’t care about the gender stuff, perhaps parents don’t care about what she’s saying about Gaza, but if they are not ultra-ultra-liberal, Ms. Rachel will eventually land on something that they do feel discomfort with,” she told Fox News Digital.

Mandel urges parents to carefully screen everything before they show it to their kids, something that she does for her own children. As for Mandel’s household, Ms. Rachel did not pass the test. Mandel told Fox News Digital that years ago she removed Accurso’s channel from her family’s YouTube playlist, a decision that has given her peace of mind.

“I feel relieved as a Jewish parent that I took Ms. Rachel off of our playlist on YouTube years ago, and I’m sure I will continue to feel great about that decision in the years to come,” Mandel said.

Fox News Digital reached out to representatives for Accurso to request comment.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s UK Exit Plan ‘Exposed’ as Charles Faces Heartache

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be keeping their future options open after returning to the UK in August. According to News24, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have recently established themselves in the Cotswolds, have retained their Montecito home. The $14.5 million California property has reportedly neither been sold nor rented out, with staff continuing to maintain the luxury estate.

It remains unclear whether Harry and Meghan intend to stay in Britain permanently. If they do leave again, however, King Charles would likely be disappointed to lose the opportunity to spend more time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Even so, a change of direction by the Sussexes would not be entirely unexpected.

Before News24’s report, the couple had already faced several significant challenges. Harry and Meghan were recently forced to remove Archie and Lilibet from their new schools and enrol them elsewhere after concerns were raised about security during the morning school run.

The situation became even more troubling on Wednesday, 30 September, when a spokesperson for the couple issued a statement after two international paparazzi photographers were reportedly seen surveilling the children’s school.

“The decision by photographers to conduct themselves in this way around a school is extraordinarily reckless,” the statement began.

“There is a world of difference between legitimate media activity and photographers walking the perimeter of a school, stopping to look into the grounds and monitoring children as they go about their day.

“It is concerning enough that certain European paparazzi appear unwilling to respect the privacy of children at school. But to behave in this manner in these particular circumstances, and so soon after the incident at RAF Fairford, demonstrates an extraordinary lack of judgment.

“Whatever photographs they may have been seeking, this was not only an unacceptable intrusion into the privacy of children; it was an irresponsible and ill-considered way to conduct themselves in the vicinity of a school.”

Harry and Meghan are classified as “private citizens” under arrangements set by the King and have been seeking taxpayer-funded security for their family. RAVEC, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, has not yet announced its decision.

In a recent Daily Mail article, Alison Boshoff, the publication’s Editor at Large, reported that people close to Harry and Meghan had indicated that the result of RAVEC’s security review could influence whether the couple chooses to remain in the UK or leave.

Katie Holmes and her boyfriend, artist Jason Bard Yarmosky, took a romantic break in Lake Como this week before heading to France for Paris Fashion Week.

The 47-year-old actress has been making appearances with the 39-year-old artist throughout this season’s fashion events, but the couple first escaped to the Italian lakeside destination for some private time together.

Holmes wore a sophisticated grey satin dress featuring an elegant floral print as she and Yarmosky arrived at the exclusive Hotel Sereno on Saturday, just two weeks after their previous visit.

The couple settled into one of the hotel’s most lavish suites, which reportedly costs an eye-watering $13,000 per night.

She completed the look with a black leather blazer and a chic orange leather handbag as she arrived for the luxury getaway.

After spending several days in Lake Como, the pair travelled to Paris. On Tuesday evening, they joined a host of famous guests at the Carine Roitfeld party at Le Prunier.

The trip follows claims from a source close to Holmes, who told the Daily Mail that Yarmosky “makes her feel amazing” and that the actress would “definitely entertain the thought of marrying Jason one day”.

Holmes and Yarmosky were previously spotted together at the Calvin Klein show during New York Fashion Week and attended the Tod’s event in Milan last week.

Paris Fashion Week began on Monday with its Womenswear Spring/Summer 2027 edition.

The event spans a busy nine-day schedule, featuring a record 68 runway shows and 34 presentations across the French capital.

Much of the attention is focused on two major creative director debuts, with Drew Henry presenting his first collection for Courrèges and Kai Nesselrath making his debut at Carven.

The week opened with a surprise appearance by Celine Dion at the annual L’Oréal Paris event beneath the Eiffel Tower, where she performed her hit “I’m Alive” on Monday night.

On September 7, Holmes shared a carousel of photographs from the couple’s romantic Italian holiday.

Yarmosky posted the same images on his social media account. The photos showed Holmes admiring Lake Como’s breathtaking scenery, hiking with her partner and sharing a kiss with him.

Katie was first linked to Jason in June of this year, and fuelled the speculation by arriving hand-in-hand to a screening of Olivia Wilde’s movie The Invite in July.

Another audience member told People: ‘He was whispering in her ear, and she was laughing, they seemed very easy together and there was a smile on her face all night.

‘They sat together during the movie, she had her head on his shoulder at one point. They looked very cute.’

This is Katie’s first public relationship since she dated Bobby Wooten III for less than a year in 2022.

Prior to that, the Logan Lucky star dated Jamie Foxx for six years following the end of her marriage to Tom Cruise, with whom she has 20-year-old daughter Suri.

Siblings Arrested After Violent Fight Over Grapes, Police Say

Inset, from left: Briasia White and Lamarian Girtman, according to McLennan County Jail records. In the background is the Waco, Texas, apartment complex where police say the siblings allegedly fought, shown via Google Maps.

A dispute over grapes reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation and death threats, leading to the arrests of two siblings in Texas, police said.

Briasia White, 20, was arrested on suspicion of injury to a child. Her 18-year-old brother, Lamarian Girtman, faces a charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member, according to the Waco Police Department.

The alleged fight took place at about 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Tribeca Apartments on Sanger Avenue in Waco, authorities said.

That night, officers responded to a domestic disturbance, according to an affidavit obtained by Waco-based CBS and Telemundo KWTX.

According to charging documents, the siblings and their mother were outside the apartment when officers arrived. Police instructed Girtman to remain outside while they first interviewed White.

White told investigators the confrontation started after she challenged Girtman for eating grapes she had recently bought.

What began as an argument quickly escalated, authorities said.

White said Girtman became angry and shouted at her after she mentioned the grapes. She told police that she walked into another room, closed the door and locked it, but that her brother continued yelling outside, according to the affidavit.

The charging document says Girtman then repeatedly struck the door until he punched a hole through it.

White warned him that she would spray him with “mace” if he opened the door and entered the room, the affidavit states. She then reportedly acted before waiting for him to come inside.

White told officers she opened the door to prevent further damage and sprayed Girtman with pepper spray, according to investigators.

Police said Girtman shielded himself with his jacket and avoided the spray. He allegedly then punched White repeatedly on the side of her head. At one point, the affidavit says, he put an arm around her head and told her, “I’m going to kill you.”

White ultimately broke free by striking her brother, bringing the alleged attack to an end, law enforcement officials said.

Girtman also confirmed that the dispute began over the grapes, police said, though his account differed substantially from his sister’s version of events.

Girtman told investigators that White punched him in the face after becoming upset about him eating the fruit, according to the affidavit.

He also claimed that White was the first to raise her voice and become angry as the confrontation intensified, the charging document states.

Girtman did not deny striking White. He reportedly told police that he expected to go to jail, but said he remembered only part of the encounter because he blacked out in anger during the violence.

A third sibling was also present and became involved while attempting to stop the fight, police said. The younger sibling reportedly told officers that White slapped him in the face when he stepped between the two. Girtman also acknowledged that his younger brother had been slapped, according to police.

White initially denied striking the younger sibling, but after officers read her Miranda rights, she reportedly admitted her role in the altercation, according to the charging document.

Both suspects were booked into the McLennan County Jail last week and have since posted bond, jail records show.

Cousin of Murdered New York Times Executive Shares Theory About His Death

0

The cousin of a transgender New York Times executive who was murdered has offered his theory about a possible motive after the man was allegedly shot by his in-laws.

Jonathan McKinsey, 40, was killed after being shot multiple times in a parking lot at Dublin Sports Grounds in Dublin, California, on Saturday.

Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, were arrested on several charges, including murder. Police allege the pair took turns firing at McKinsey.

McKinsey had served as the New York Times’ head of engineering for games player experience since 2023. He was also involved in a bitter custody dispute with his estranged wife, Candice Jang, who is Zhang and Chen’s daughter.

Lovell Garner, McKinsey’s cousin, was asked by the California Post whether he believed the in-laws may have acted to support Jang’s custody case.

“I’d lay a lot of money on that,” Garner told the outlet. “It’s unbelievable that they would put themselves on the line like that for her.”

Garner said he was still struggling to process the news of his cousin’s death when he spoke with the outlet.

“Well, it’s all still pretty fresh for me, still. So far, everyone in my immediate family is completely shocked,” Garner said.

McKinsey’s in-laws, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, are accused of fatally shooting him

“It seems obvious that they were done with him since they killed him. Not sure what would make them do something that extreme.”

Garner said he had been out of contact with McKinsey for several years before reaching out about a year ago, after learning that his cousin was experiencing a difficult period.

He remembered McKinsey as “very smart” and “outgoing,” though he said his strongest memories were from before his cousin’s transition.

According to the Post, the executive was previously known as Dawn Finney before transitioning in 2010.

McKinsey married Jang in 2011, and the couple remained together until December 2025, when Jang filed for divorce.

Jang also sought a domestic violence prevention order against her spouse that year.

In the protection order filed in Alameda County Court in October 2025 and obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, she accused McKinsey of physically, verbally and emotionally abusing her and their three young children.

Jang alleged that she had endured abuse at McKinsey’s hands over 17 years, including more than a dozen incidents between November 2020 and July 2025.

Lovell Garner, McKinsey's cousin, told the California Post he would 'lay a lot of money on' the in-laws being driven to allegedly kill the executive to support his wife's custody bid

Lovell Garner, McKinsey’s cousin, told the California Post he would “lay a lot of money on” the in-laws allegedly being motivated by a desire to support Jang’s custody bid

Court records show that a judge granted the protection order.

McKinsey was charged with cruelty to a child by endangering health and corporal injury to a child, both misdemeanors, and was freed on $50,000 bail.

At the time of his murder, he had also been trying to enter a mental health diversion program, which would have resulted in the charges being dropped upon completion, according to the Mercury News.

But McKinsey claimed in his own court filings that Jang was the one who had been abusive for more than 15 years.

In 2013, he claimed she beat him with a frying pan, according to the court documents. He also accused Jang of verbally denigrating the children.

He alleged that Chen, Jang’s mother, was verbally abusive to one of the couple’s young children, raising objections over the child’s clothing.

McKinsey further accused his in-laws of making derogatory remarks about his gender transition.

He claimed Chen directed anti-LGBTQ+ slurs at him and the child, referring first to the child and then to McKinsey as a ‘disgusting queer’ and a ‘pervert.’

McKinsey had worked in games tech for the New York Times since 2023

The executive further accused Jang of being abusive during medical procedures related to his transition, claiming that at one point she tried to pull medical tubes from his body shortly after he had his breasts removed, according to the Mercury News.

He also alleged that Jang’s father, who was not named in the filing, punched him in the chest while he was recovering from the double mastectomy.

On the day of McKinsey’s death, witnesses reported seeing two masked shooters approach McKinsey in the parking lot and take turns unloading a barrage of shots into him before they ‘calmly’ walked away.

Zhang and Chen have since been booked into Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail and are being held without bail on charges including murder, felony conspiracy, child endangerment and dangerously firing a gun.

Zhang and Chen’s arraignment has been scheduled for Wednesday.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Garner, The New York Times, Dublin Police and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for comment.

Stunna Girl Dog Cage Case: What Is Confirmed About the California Rapper?

0

The “Stunna Girl dog cage kidnapping” story refers to a disturbing claim circulating online about California rapper Stunna Girl. However, the available information does not establish a verified kidnapping case, identify a confirmed suspect, or prove that the rapper was held in a dog cage.

That distinction matters. Short videos, reposted screenshots and captions can make an allegation appear settled before police records, court filings or a direct statement from the person involved are available. In this case, the central claim should be treated as unconfirmed unless supported by reliable primary evidence.

What happened in the Stunna Girl dog cage case?

The story alleges that Stunna Girl was kidnapped or confined in a dog cage. Online discussion has presented the claim as a criminal incident, but the details are inconsistent and have not been independently established in the information available for this article.

There is no verified timeline that clearly answers the basic questions readers would expect in a kidnapping case:

  • When the alleged incident occurred
  • Where it allegedly happened
  • Who was accused of carrying it out
  • Whether police opened a formal investigation
  • Whether anyone was arrested or charged
  • Whether a court case exists

Without those details, it would be misleading to describe the allegation as a confirmed kidnapping or to state that Stunna Girl was definitely placed in a cage. The wording “dog cage case” appears to come from online descriptions rather than a clearly documented legal case.

Was Stunna Girl actually kidnapped?

There is not enough verified information to answer yes. A social-media post, video or screenshot may show an upsetting scene, but such material does not by itself establish the identity of the people shown, when it was recorded, where it was recorded or whether the footage relates to Stunna Girl.

Several possibilities must remain open when a claim spreads without a police statement or court record. The material could be genuine but missing context; it could refer to a different incident; it could be old footage reposted as new; or it could be an exaggerated or false caption attached to unrelated content.

Until a reliable source confirms the incident, the responsible description is that Stunna Girl has been linked online to an unverified dog-cage kidnapping allegation. That is different from reporting that she was kidnapped.

What would confirm the allegation?

Confirmation would normally require one or more of the following:

  • A direct statement from Stunna Girl or an authorized representative
  • A police report or statement from a law-enforcement agency
  • Charging documents, court records or a prosecutor’s announcement
  • Independent reporting that verifies the people, location and timeline

A single viral clip or a collection of reposts would not be enough on its own.

Who is Stunna Girl?

Stunna Girl is a rapper associated with Sacramento, California. She became widely known online through music and short-form video platforms, where her songs and performances gained attention beyond her local scene.

Her public profile has also made her vulnerable to rumor-driven coverage. A dramatic claim attached to a recognizable name can spread quickly, especially when posts use words such as “kidnapped,” “missing” or “held hostage” without providing a report number, date or identifiable source.

The rapper’s professional visibility does not make every claim about her verifiable. Her celebrity status may explain why the allegation attracted attention, but it is not evidence that the alleged event occurred.

What is known about Stunna Girl’s family?

Reliable, detailed information about Stunna Girl’s family is limited in the material available here. Public interest in the kidnapping claim has prompted questions about her parents, relatives and possible partner, but online posts often name or identify private people without proof.

No family member should be treated as connected to the alleged incident merely because a post mentions them. In particular, an allegation involving a relative, partner or former partner would require direct confirmation before it could be reported as fact.

Readers should also be cautious with biographies that provide specific family histories without naming a verifiable source. A personal detail repeated across entertainment websites may still originate from an unsourced profile or social-media rumor.

What is Stunna Girl’s ethnicity?

Stunna Girl is generally described in public entertainment coverage as a Black or African American rapper from the United States. Ethnicity is personal, however, and should not be assigned solely from photographs, assumptions about appearance or internet commentary.

Unless she has clearly and publicly described her own ethnic background, more specific claims should be treated cautiously. Nationality, race and ethnicity are not interchangeable: being American identifies nationality, while “Black” is a racial or broad cultural description rather than a complete account of family ancestry.

The ethnicity question is separate from the kidnapping allegation. It does not help establish whether the reported incident happened, and speculation about ancestry should not be used to fill gaps in the criminal claim.

Is there a confirmed police or court case?

No confirmed police investigation, arrest, criminal charge or court proceeding can be established from the information available for this article. That does not prove that no report exists; it means the alleged case should not be presented as legally confirmed without accessible official documentation.

People searching for an update should distinguish between:

  • An allegation: someone claims an event happened.
  • A report: a media outlet or social account repeats that claim.
  • An investigation: authorities document that they are examining the matter.
  • A criminal case: prosecutors file charges in court.
  • A conviction: a court determines guilt beyond the required legal standard.

The online discussion, as described, does not establish the final three stages. Sharing the claim as a completed criminal case could unfairly harm people who have not been charged or found responsible.

How should readers interpret the viral posts?

Readers should look for the original upload, the date of the material and a clear explanation of who recorded it. Reposts often remove captions, context and comments that might show the footage is old or unrelated.

Useful checks include:

  • Whether the alleged victim is clearly identified by a direct statement
  • Whether the location and date can be independently verified
  • Whether a police department or court has acknowledged the matter
  • Whether reputable reporting separates confirmed facts from online claims
  • Whether the account spreading the story has a history of reposting sensational material

People who believe they have information about a real kidnapping or immediate danger should contact local emergency services rather than relying on social-media sharing. Viewers should also avoid reposting graphic or identifying material that could expose a victim or interfere with an investigation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Was Stunna Girl held in a dog cage? That claim has circulated online, but it has not been independently verified in the available information. It should not be reported as an established fact.
  2. Was Stunna Girl kidnapped? There is no confirmed basis here to say that she was kidnapped. The allegation needs a direct statement, official record or independently verified reporting.
  3. Has anyone been arrested in the case?No verified arrest or criminal charge can be identified from the available information.
  4. Does Stunna Girl have a confirmed court case?No confirmed court proceeding connected to the dog-cage allegation has been established here.
  5. Who is Stunna Girl?Stunna Girl is a rapper associated with Sacramento, California, who built a public following through music and social-media exposure.
  6. What is Stunna Girl’s ethnicity? She is commonly described as Black or African American, but more specific ancestry should not be assumed unless she has publicly confirmed it herself.
  7. What is known about Stunna Girl’s family?Detailed family information is limited, and unverified posts should not be used to identify relatives or connect them to the allegation.
  8. Is the dog-cage video proof of a kidnapping? No. A video requires authentication and context, including its date, location, people shown and connection to Stunna Girl.

The Stunna Girl dog cage story remains an unverified online allegation rather than a confirmed kidnapping case. The rapper is publicly associated with Sacramento’s music scene, while claims about her family and ethnicity should be handled separately and with care. Until official records or a reliable direct account clarify what happened, the most accurate conclusion is that key facts remain unknown.

Unrecognizable ’90s Heartthrob Sparks Plastic Surgery Rumors

John Cusack’s noticeably taut appearance sparked online speculation about possible cosmetic procedures during a podcast appearance this week.

The 60-year-old actor, celebrated for films such as Serendipity, Sixteen Candles and Con Air, appeared to be sporting a different look while reflecting on his career in the latest episode of the Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz podcast.

As Cusack discussed the 1989 romantic comedy Say Anything, viewers focused on his face. One commenter joked that he was “turning into Barry Manilow,” a reference to the singer’s widely discussed facelift.

Other users likewise suggested, without offering evidence, that the actor may have undergone cosmetic work, sharing their opinions in the comments.

One person wrote: “I’ll take super-obvious face lifts for a thousand, Alex,” while another commented: “Oy vey, the facial fillers must stop…”

Additional remarks included: “Oh honey, his face,” “These guys and their facelifts!”, “What has he done, looks like Liza Minnelli” and “Ohhhh no they got John.”

Some fans pushed back against the criticism, reminding fellow commenters that Cusack is now 60. “People in these comments: John is 60 years old! People still think he is in his 20s?” one wrote.

Others offered their support, writing: “He’s always so calm, polite and grounded!”, “Love every one of his movies” and “so handsome.”

The Daily Mail has contacted Cusack’s representatives for comment but has not yet received a response.

During the candid interview, Cusack also addressed a persistent rumor that he had turned down the lead role of Walter White in the hit series Breaking Bad, which ultimately starred Bryan Cranston.

“Some of those things are so weird, because there was this whole riff that I had turned down Walter White. And I never ever remembered that, and I was like, did that happen and I blacked it out? Did I lose time?” he said.

“I met [Breaking Bad creator] Vince Gilligan in New York, and I was like, ‘Hey, man, I love your show, it’s awesome. I gotta know, everyone is saying you offered me that — did you offer me that?’ He was like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Thank you, Vince!’”

Cusack became widely known for a run of coming-of-age films in the 1980s, including Sixteen Candles and Stand By Me. In more recent years, however, he has taken on fewer high-profile projects.

In a 2020 interview with The Guardian, Cusack said his reduced presence in major films was not due to a lack of interest. Instead, he suggested Hollywood had become less willing to back his projects.

“In the last few years, I haven’t been able to get projects financed. That could be a function of getting older. Or it could be a function of being cold…” he said.

As Cusack waxed lyrical about 1989 romantic teen comedy Say Anything, all attention turned to his face, with one fan quipping he was 'turning into Barry Manilow' - referencing the legendary singer's facelift

While Cusack spoke fondly about the 1989 romantic comedy Say Anything, viewers focused on his face, with one fan joking that he was “turning into Barry Manilow” in a reference to the singer’s facelift.

Student Falls From Eighth-Floor Window While Dancing on Couch

A 21-year-old University of Georgia student survived an extraordinary fall from an eighth-floor apartment window after reportedly dancing on a couch, police said.

Kristin Sargent fell through an open window at The Rambler apartment complex in Athens at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a police report obtained by the Daily Mail.

Athens-Clarke County police said the college senior, who studies finance and marketing, was discovered on the complex’s pool deck.

Residential building floors are generally about nine to 10 feet high, putting the estimated distance from an eighth-story apartment at roughly 54 to 60 feet.

The precise height of Kristin’s fall has not been confirmed. Police said she “had been dancing on a couch or air mattress which was near an open window” before going “through the screen.”

Officers arriving only minutes later reportedly determined that a metal pool chair, fitted with a cushion, had helped break her fall.

The cushion was stained with blood, while the chair’s armrest had broken away, according to the police report.

Kristin was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in intensive care with multiple injuries, her father, Richard Sargent, told Channel 2 Action News.

Richard described the terrifying phone call that alerted the family to his daughter’s near-fatal accident.

“We got a phone call from somebody that just said, ‘Oh my God, Kristin’s had a tough fall,’” he said.

Kristin’s family quickly traveled from Virginia to Athens so they could be by her side during her recovery.

Her father did not provide further details about the events leading up to the fall, but told the local news station that it happened after the University of Georgia football team defeated the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Georgia Bulldogs beat Oklahoma 41-13 at Athens’ Sanford Stadium on Saturday.

“University of Georgia just won a football game. I bet there were a lot of kids here who were 21 years old who were super happy,” Richard said.

He added that Kristin knows how fortunate she is to have survived the fall, despite suffering broken bones.

“She was talking to one of her friends and saying, ‘Hey, I’m alive. I can’t believe it,’” Richard recalled.

It is unclear exactly how far she fell and how it happened, but Kristin 'had been dancing on a couch or air mattress which was near an open window,' police said

The circumstances around the fall remain unclear. The apartment building said it is cooperating with the investigation.

A spokesperson with The Rambler sent out a message to residents after Kristin’s fall, reminding everyone of the safety features all windows are equipped with, according to the outlet.

In it, the building warned residents not to ‘tamper with, remove or disengage’ those devices, which are next to each window.

Police have not specified if the window Kristin fell out of had the feature engaged, or whether it played a role in the incident.

Authorities said that, based on the evidence gathered so far, the incident is being looked at as an accident, according to the report.

Meanwhile, her father said that his daughter is focused on her recovery.

‘She’s a good fighter, and she’s going to be OK,’ he told the station.

Richard added that he is very happy with how the school community and healthcare team have shown support for his daughter.

Why DWTS’ Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas Won’t Advise The Traitors

Dancing With the Stars’ Maura Higgins Explains Why She Won’t Advise the New Traitors Cast

Every Traitor and Faithful has to find their own way through the game.

That’s why, despite the newly announced cast for the upcoming season of The Traitors, Dancing With the Stars partners—and former Faithfuls—Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas aren’t hurrying to offer the incoming celebrity players a strategy guide for surviving the castle.

“I’ll tell you what, it really is hard to give Traitors advice,” Mark told E! News after DWTS on Sept. 30. Even though he has watched nearly every season, he explained, success depends heavily on the personalities in each group.

After all, there’s no step-by-step lesson for betraying an ally—or knowing exactly when that betrayal will backfire.

“Like with this show,” he said of DWTS, “you can be like, ‘When you get Quickstep, you gotta do this.’ You don’t know how people are going to react or what the conversation is going to be like. You don’t know what the round table is going to be like—and it can flip on you at any moment.”

Maura agreed, pointing out that players also have no idea whether they’ll enter the game as a Traitor or a Faithful. “You also don’t know if you’re going to be a Traitor or Faithful, and then you have to play differently,” she said. “It’s so hard.”
