DOJ Targets Citizenship Revocations for 17 Individuals Over Concealed Criminal Histories

0

The Department of Justice announced on Monday its intention to strip 17 individuals of their U.S. citizenship, alleging that they fraudulently obtained naturalization through deceitful means.

The accused hail from 13 different countries and face allegations of serious crimes, including child sexual abuse, narcotics trafficking, and significant financial fraud.

Authorities claim that nearly all of these individuals lied during the naturalization process, falsely asserting they had not committed any offenses unknown to the authorities. These false declarations breached the “good moral character” requirement necessary for U.S. citizenship, as outlined by federal law.

“Obtaining U.S. citizenship is a privilege, and under President Trump’s unwavering leadership, this Department of Justice enforces a zero-tolerance policy against the misuse of this process,” stated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“American citizenship is a privilege, and it must be earned honestly. If you come here break our laws, and lie in your immigration proceedings, you forfeit that privilege,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin added.

According to the release, the accused individuals are overwhelmingly middle-aged to senior adults, ranging in age from 39 to 69, and originate from 13 countries across the globe.

Nine were from the Caribbean and North America, including Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico. Two were from Colombia in South America. One was from former Yugoslavia in Europe. Three were from Asia, including India, China and the Philippines, and two were from Africa, including Somalia and the Congo.

Officials said many of the applicants were asked under oath whether they had ever committed a crime for which they had not yet been arrested. According to authorities, many of the individuals allegedly provided false statements during their interviews, enabling their applications to be approved.

The most common alleged offense among the accused is child sexual abuse. Six of the 17 individuals — roughly 35% — were identified in connection with child sex crimes, including statutory rape and the receipt of explicit images involving minors.

One notable case involved a Roman Catholic priest who allegedly used his position of trust to groom and abuse a child.

The fraud cases also involved large-scale, multi-million-dollar schemes.

One case allegedly involved $54 million in securities and wire fraud. Another centered on $36.7 million in fraudulent claims billed to Blue Cross Blue Shield through fake physical therapy clinics. In a separate case, an individual was accused of using inherited funds tied to a Colombian drug cartel to finance real estate transactions, while another defendant was also accused of stealing millions from a Florida tribal casino.

Several individuals allegedly fabricated their identities in an effort to circumvent the immigration system, the Justice Department said. Four individuals are accused of using false names, misrepresenting marital status to U.S. citizens, or reapplying multiple times under entirely different identities after previous denials.

One woman allegedly adopted a false name after being denied in 1995. Authorities said she was ultimately identified after the government digitized old paper fingerprint records, which linked her current identity to a prior, rejected application.

Transform Your Back: 5 Effective Bodyweight Exercises for Those Over 55

Forget the gym membership and fancy equipment—these five bodyweight exercises can effectively strengthen your back, especially if you’re over 55. These moves, highlighted from the STOTT PILATES Bodyweight Training Workshop, are all about using your own body to build strength and improve posture, whether you’re standing or lying down. No need for costly gym machines or extra gear; these exercises focus on enhancing your back muscles while also boosting your balance and stability as you age.

One of the great advantages of these exercises is that they not only reinforce your back but also target your core. Strengthening your core is essential as it supports your spine and contributes to overall back health, eliminating the need for endless crunches on the floor. A robust core goes hand-in-hand with a strong back.

Focus: These exercises provide a low to moderate challenge for those looking to improve their balance while standing.

Exercise 1: Ab Curl Standing

This is a great exercise to strengthen your core without having to do a bunch of crunches on the floor. A stronger core will lead to a stronger back, too.

Focus: Low to moderate standing balance challenge

Start: Standing, legs hip-distance apart, hands behind head

Inhale: prepare

Exhale: Flex upper torso with quick and forced exhalation

Inhale: Return

Repeat: 10x

To intensify: add an alternating knee lift to deepen connection to core and challenge balance further.

Exercise 2: Quadraped Knee Circles

Lisa Morton Quadraped Knee Circles

This exercise starts standing and includes rolling down to a pike position.

Focus: Rotational challenge to stabilize the torso and pelvis during unilateral leg movement

Start: Standing, legs hip-distance apart, arms long by sides

Inhale: Nod the head and roll down flexing the spine

Exhale: Walk hands out along floor to a pike position, then bend the knees and lower to a hover just above the floor

Inhale: Lift one knee out to the side, then circle leg back extending the knee

Exhale: Flex the knee to return

Repeat: 4x in each direction on each side

Inhale: Extend the knees to pike, then walk hands back to feet

Exhale: Roll up from tail to head

Repeat: entire series 2x

Exercise 3: High Bridge Prep

Lisa Morton High Bridge Prep
Lisa Morton

This kneeling exercise helps stretch hip flexor muscles that can be tight after long hours of sitting

Focus: Lengthens the anterior wall of the spine and front of the hips, challenges eccentric control of abdominals to support the torso and pelvic stability

Start: Kneeling, pelvis and spine neutral, on arm long by side, other hand on back of the thigh

Inhale: Reach long arm overhead and extend spine and hips

Exhale: Return to vertical, lowering arm by side

Repeat: 4x per side

After last rep: sit back into shell stretch to round the belly off the thighs

Exercise 4: Supine Bridge

Sitting during long periods will also cause the glutes to shut off.  Working the hip extensors concentrically will help wake up “sleepy” glutes

Focus: Stabilize the pelvis and lower torso while strengthening hip extensors

Start: Lying supine, feet in line with hips, closer to glutes, arms long by sides

Inhale: Prepare

Exhale: Extend hips and lift pelvis to create one long line from knees to shoulders

Inhale: Stay

Exhale: Return pelvis to floor

Repeat: 8x

To intensify: Hold bridge position and begin to lift one knee, alternating legs, while keeping pelvis still and stable

Exercise 5: Plank Twist

Lisa Morton Plank Twist
Lisa Morton

This will not only strengthen the core in a plank position, but will also challenge the shoulder and spinal mobility

Focus: Upper Torso strength and stability, arm strength, spinal mobility

Start: Plank position, legs shoulder-distance apart, pelvis and spine neutral

Inhale: Prepare

Exhale: Lift one arm up to the ceiling, rotating torso to face side, maintaining neutral

Inhale: Return to plank

Repeat: 3x per side, alternating

To intensify: Add push up before and after rotation to side

Improving core strength will lead to a stronger back. These bodyweight exercises will challenge your balance and give you a total body workout to keep your posture looking great well after 55.

Trapped in a Secret Service Security Circle at MSG: My Unforgettable Experience

0

On Monday, Madison Square Garden resembled a high-security zone more than a basketball venue as law enforcement officers flooded Manhattan for the NBA Finals Game 3 showdown between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

The cause for this heightened security? Donald Trump was scheduled to attend the game at the Garden.

The President’s presence turned what was already a coveted event into an extensive federal security operation. As soon as you approached Seventh Avenue, the intensity of the preparations was palpable.

The sheer volume of police officers was striking. It wasn’t a mere handful patrolling the area or a lone squad car parked nearby. Instead, the scene was dominated by hundreds of officers stationed at every possible entrance, standing alert behind the barriers.

These barriers—robust and imposing—encircled the arena like the walls of a fortress. Overnight, Madison Square Garden, one of the globe’s most iconic venues, had been dramatically fortified.

For those of us arriving with media credentials, the drama was only just beginning.

Madison Square Garden looked less like a basketball arena and more like a government compound on Monday, as law enforcement descended on Manhattan for the NBA Finals

The line stretched back further than expected, a slow-moving procession of press and broadcasters inching forward under the watchful gaze of law enforcement.

As you shuffled forward, the details of the operation became clearer.

Officers patrolling the perimeter were not carrying standard-issue firearms. These were assault rifles – the kind of hardware you associate with military checkpoints or major international security operations, not a sporting event, however big.

The media entrance itself was nothing short of a full TSA experience transplanted from JFK to the middle of Manhattan.

Bags were pulled open and searched with thoroughness, while metal detectors stood waiting for every single person – no exceptions, no fast lanes, no waving through.

Then came the police dogs sweeping bags and bodies with an efficiency that underlined just how seriously the authorities were taking the President’s presence.

Nothing was getting through that line that wasn’t supposed to.

The whole process took the best part of half an hour. Thirty minutes of queuing, shuffling, unzipping, removing, scanning and re-packing before you were anywhere close to the inside of the building.

But perhaps the most striking sight of the arrival experience was not the barriers, nor the rifles, nor the dogs. It was the group standing off to the side of the main entrance.

A large cluster of individuals – fitted with sharp suit and earpieces – were gathered in a tight formation outside the arena. Unmistakably, they were Secret Service.

They moved differently to the uniformed officers around them, they watched differently and they made very clear, without saying a single word, that the most powerful man in the world was not far behind.

The speculation among fellow media members in the queue was immediate. The sight of that contingent on Eighth Avenue answered some questions and raised plenty of others.

To put all of this in context, the Knicks come into tonight’s game leading this series 2-0, with the city of New York daring to dream about a championship that has been decades in the making. Trump chose quite the moment to show up.

New York does not do things quietly at the best of times but this was something beyond even the city’s usual flair for the dramatic – Midtown Manhattan was on lockdown.

By the time you eventually cleared security and made your way inside, there was already a strange sense that the night’s real drama might not be confined to the hardwood.

One thing was certain before a single shot had been taken. Tonight, nobody was getting into Madison Square Garden who wasn’t supposed to be there.

Unveiling iOS 27: Discover the Groundbreaking Features from Apple’s WWDC 2026

0

Apple has finally given Siri the spotlight it deserves.

After months of speculation and a long stretch of trailing behind in the artificial intelligence arena, the tech giant took center stage at the Worldwide Developers Conference to introduce iOS 27. This latest software update is packed with AI-driven features, enhanced customization options, and some unexpected treats for those still using older iPhone models.

The most significant announcement? Siri is undergoing a transformation that users have long anticipated. Essentially, Siri is set for a major upgrade in intelligence.

Harnessing Google’s Gemini technology, this reimagined assistant is part of Apple’s broader AI initiative, aiming to transform Siri from a mere voice command tool into a more dynamic conversational partner.

In addition to responding to queries, the updated Siri is equipped to understand on-screen content, retain personal context, and assist with tasks such as setting reminders or sourcing information relevant to what’s being viewed.

Users can still summon Siri by holding the side button, but Apple is also introducing a dedicated Siri app with a chatbot-style interface.

Whether it lives up to the hype remains to be seen once it launches later this year.

There is one catch: Siri AI won’t initially be available in Europe or China because of regulatory hurdles.

Apple Intelligence is suddenly everywhere — even when Siri isn’t involved, AI is woven throughout iOS 27.

Messages will be able to generate suggested replies with a tap, while Notes and Reminders can create lists and tasks based on natural language prompts and context.

Perhaps one of the most practical additions is the ability to build custom Shortcuts simply by describing what you want in everyday language instead of manually piecing together automations.

In other words, users can tell their iPhone what they want to happen rather than figuring out how to program it.

Your photos are also about to get a Hollywood edit, as Apple is also leaning further into AI-powered photo editing.

The updated Photos app includes improved cleanup tools that can erase unwanted objects from images, while a new feature called “Spatial Reframe” can generate a different composition or angle without requiring another photo.

Another addition, Extend, uses AI to create more of the scene surrounding a subject.

Image Playground is also receiving a major upgrade, allowing users to create more photorealistic AI-generated images — though exactly how much they’ll be able to generate depends on their iCloud storage plan.

Additionally, parents are getting more control, as the WWDC wasn’t all about AI.

Apple also doubled down on parental controls, adding expanded Screen Time tools, new app permission requests and additional safety settings for children.

The updates continue Apple’s broader push toward giving parents more oversight over how kids use their devices.

There’s also good news if you’re still using an iPhone 11.

Despite speculation that Apple’s 2019 lineup might finally lose software support, the company confirmed that every iPhone from the iPhone 11 onward will be compatible with iOS 27.

For millions of users, that means avoiding the annual hardware upgrade — at least for another year.

Apple also showed off new personalization options for its “Liquid Glass” design language.

A new slider lets users adjust the interface from an almost crystal-clear appearance to a more heavily tinted glass effect, giving them greater control over the operating system’s look.

The announcements weren’t all about Siri today.

Apple also revealed that the Health app will include menopause and perimenopause cycle tracking, AirPods users will get customizable equalizer controls, and Apple Maps’ Flyover mode is receiving a significant visual overhaul.

Across iOS 27, the company is also expanding AI-powered features into more apps and everyday workflows.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant says iOS 27 will launch alongside new hardware this fall, with developers getting access first through a beta release.

The update represents the company’s most aggressive AI push yet — and perhaps its clearest attempt to convince users that the long wait for a smarter Siri was worth it.

Man on probation accused of killing father who used GPS to find stolen truck

0

A tragic carjacking incident in Houston, Texas, claimed the life of a father on Saturday afternoon, with a repeat offender, who was on probation, now facing murder charges.

According to a statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, 56-year-old Louis Erebia had tracked down his stolen vehicle and confronted the alleged thief, identified as London Hogan Sr. In the confrontation, Hogan Sr. reportedly shot Erebia, who succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

In addition to the attack on Erebia, Hogan Sr. is also accused of shooting a second individual, who is expected to recover.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office shared with FOX26 that Erebia’s son was refueling their Chevy Silverado when Hogan allegedly brandished a firearm and stole the truck. Erebia, along with a friend, used GPS tracking to locate the vehicle, leading to the fatal encounter.

Photos of Louis Erebia have been shared widely on social media as the community mourns his loss.

The car being driven by Erebia was involved in a collision with the stolen Chevy Silverado, which disabled it, deputies said.

According to the sheriff’s office, Erebia chased a male and female suspect who got out of the stolen truck. Deputies said that’s when Hogan fired multiple shots.

Hogan was charged with murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Hogan has a lengthy criminal history, which includes the following charges:

Nov. 12, 2023: Assault of a family/household member impeding breath/circulation – was given deferred adjudication, resulting in five years of community supervision.

During a hearing on Monday where Hogan had his charges read to him, a judge reiterated that he’s on deferred adjudication.

“Looks like you are on a 5-year felony deferred for assault impeding breath. And Mr. Hogan, entered into that deferred March 27th of 2024. Also, murder is an SB9 offense,” the judge said.

Amber Burrough, who is related to Erebia, wrote on Facebook that his life was taken “far too soon.”

“Louis died doing exactly what he did every day of his life—protecting others. He was a hero down to his very last breath. A pillar of our community, the backbone of our family, and a man whose selflessness impacted countless lives, Louis never hesitated to help those in need. He gave of himself freely and served others without question,” Burrough said.
