Raine Michaels, the 26-year-old offspring of the legendary Poison frontman Bret Michaels, is carving her own path in the entertainment industry. Instead of rocking out in sold-out arenas like her father, Raine is stepping into the limelight as one of Netflix’s fresh faces in the world of reality television.

Calabasas Confidential, which premiered on Netflix today, features Raine and her group of Gen Z friends from the glamorous Californian city of Calabasas, a locale that owes much of its fame to the Kardashian family. Among the cast, Raine stands out not only for her famous lineage but also for her down-to-earth nature, often acting as the calm amidst the show’s whirlwind of drama.

Raine is no stranger to the reality TV scene. As a child, she appeared in VH1’s Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It, a series that chronicled her father’s life as he managed the dual roles of rock star and father. Prior to that, Bret Michaels was the star of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, a dating show where he sought love among 20 hopeful contestants. Despite her father’s extensive reality TV experience, Raine humorously noted that he gave her some “terrible advice” when she embarked on her own reality TV journey.

“He told me, ‘Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,’ which was just awful advice considering he did just about everything on [Rock of Love],” Raine shared during a recent Zoom interview with DECIDER. “So, not the best guidance from him in that regard. But he did say, ‘Just be yourself and hopefully everyone will love you.’”

Raine, who landed her first modeling gig with Sports Illustrated at the young age of 18, is depicted in the series as she contemplates her future career path. Should she continue in modeling, venture into sports broadcasting, or perhaps explore the quirky option of selling feet pics? Whatever choice she makes, it’s clear she has her father’s support in all her endeavors.

In Episode 7, Raine opens up about the pressure she feels to find success, given the fact that Bret was so young when he skyrocketed to fame. When we caught up with Raine, she said her dad’s early success “both” motivates her and makes her nervous.

“Seeing what he’s accomplished in his life is super motivating to me. But then, also, when he was 26, he was doing a bunch of crazy things, [like] selling out arenas,” she said. “I think it’s a little bit of a mix of nervousness, but also excitement to see what can happen when you put your mind to something. He is a testament to success in coming from really nothing to making such a name for himself.”

As for how she feels about the phrase “nepo baby,” Raine said it “doesn’t” bother her, noting that it’s just “a term” that has a “fun spin to it nowadays.”

“My dad has always told me, ‘I can open the door for you. I can get your foot in the door, but it’s your job to keep it open,’” she said. “He can only get me so far, and then I have to do the rest myself. He’s always instilled in me and my sister to just follow our dreams, and whatever we set our mind to, give it 100%.”

In New York, the humble tomato, found in everything from fast-food delights to gourmet dishes, has taken on a new and unexpected role: a symbol of the soaring costs that are frustrating consumers everywhere.

Over the past year, the price of tomatoes has surged more than any other food item, becoming a focal point for those grappling with rising expenses.

“The tomato has become a symbol of something much deeper,” explains Isaac Bernal Carbajo, a chef in New York City. He expresses concern over how “life’s simplest pleasures” are succumbing to price hikes. “Purchasing fresh vegetables, once a basic act, is now a significant financial decision for many families.”

According to the latest Consumer Price Index, tomato prices have skyrocketed by about 40% compared to a year ago. This increase far surpasses the price hikes of other staples like coffee, which is up by 18.5%, beef roasts rising 17.8%, and frozen fish and seafood climbing 12%. These products have similarly become symbols of America’s ongoing struggle with affordability.

Additionally, a separate inflation measure released last Thursday revealed that overall prices rose by 3.8% in April from the previous year, marking the steepest increase in nearly three years.

Alongside crop yields, experts blame price increases for tomatoes, in part, on two pillars of President Donald Trump’s second-term policies: the Iran war and tariffs. The war spiked gas prices and increased shipping costs. Meantime, the U.S. withdrew from a deal allowing duty-free imports of tomatoes from Mexico, which grows most of America’s supply.

Usha Haley, a Wichita State University economist, says it’s “a perfect storm of trade policy, extreme weather and Mideast policy.”

American tomato farmers cheered the withdrawal from the tomato deal last July, saying it would help rebuild their shrinking industry. But for consumers, it’s been painful. Though the U.S. withdrew from the Mexico tomato deal in July, it took time to see the impact in the produce aisle, with more imports in late winter and early spring.

When the tomatoes arrived, they were slapped with a 17% tariff.

“Tariffs are undeniably a big driver of the price inflation,” says Brett Massimino, a Virginia Commonwealth University business professor. “Because the U.S. relies on Mexico for the majority of its tomato supply, any changes in trade policy can have a large impact.”

U.S. tariffs collected on tomatoes ballooned from just $16,424 in 2024 to nearly $4.6 million, according to federal data, a staggering 27,879% increase.

As the cost trickles down, outraged shoppers have pulled out their phones in the produce aisle, shooting videos lamenting costs they said quadrupled, with some vowing to plant a garden to avoid prices of up to $8 a pound. But the impact has been most pronounced for businesses that rely on tomatoes as a key ingredient in their kitchens.

MarginEdge, which tracks prices for restaurants, says grape tomatoes have increased most — 65% in just a month — but prices have gone up across all types of tomatoes.

Phillip Coles, a professor of supply chain management at Lehigh University, says prices should drop later in the year when domestically grown tomatoes are harvested. Higher prices, he says, will also “induce farmers to increase planting to meet the demand, but this takes longer because of the lead time.”

Meantime, it’s translating to a big hit for businesses like Snarf’s Sandwiches, which puts a tomato in nearly every sandwich it makes.

Wayne Humphrey, chief operating officer of Snarf’s, which operates dozens of stores in Colorado, Missouri and Texas, said cases of tomatoes went from costing him $27 to $93 in the space of a year, piled on top of rising expenses for other ingredients including bread and beef, as well as increased labor costs.

“That single ingredient now costs us more than $1.7 million in additional spend annually,” says Humphrey. “The math is getting harder to ignore.”

Bad Bunny is set to join the cast of “Toy Story 5,” voicing a character known as Pizza with Sunglasses. This casting news follows the artist sharing Instagram videos of himself playing with Woody and Buzz Lightyear dolls during the pandemic.

The 32-year-old music icon will lend his voice to a slice of pepperoni pizza in the upcoming addition to the beloved Pixar series.

Director Andrew Stanton recently disclosed that the decision to cast the Puerto Rican rapper came after recognizing his evident enthusiasm for the “Toy Story” characters.

During the UK launch event for “Toy Story 5,” Stanton was asked about the casting process for cameo roles. He explained, “These roles often come together spontaneously when you have these one-line characters. We take a moment to think, ‘Who would be perfect for this?’”

Stanton added, “During the pandemic, we discovered that Bad Bunny is a huge fan of ‘Toy Story.’”

‘He was making videos with his Toy Story dolls during the pandemic. He was playing with his Buzz and Woody dolls, and he was doing all of these videos. And so we were like, “Maybe… it wouldn’t hurt to ask him.” And he said yes.’

It has been teased that Bad Bunny, who has also featured in movies such as Bullet Train and Caught Stealing, will be making a cameo appearance as one of a group of ‘forgotten toys’.

The studio teased: ‘Effortlessly cool and mysterious, Pizza with Sunglasses is a member of a small but mighty community of forgotten toys that live in an abandoned backyard shed.’

Other famous names lending their voice to Toy Story 5 – which is released in cinemas next month – include Conan O’Brien as potty-training toy Smarty Pants and Alan Cumming as Evil Bullseye.

Meanwhile Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack all return as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie respectively.

The new movie sees the toys find themselves under threat when eight-year-old Bonnie (Scarlett Spears) becomes enamoured with her frog-like tablet Lilypad (voiced by Greta Lee) but Andrew has stressed that Lilypad is not a villain.

The director told Variety: ‘She is to the toys because they’re understandably intimidated.

‘She’s just the next phase in Bonnie’s life. She’s built like a toy in the sense that she wants to help the kid go forward, but she’s got very different skills and zero experience, whereas Jessie has nothing but experience and is probably unprepared for what to do.’

The film’s co-writer Kenna Harris explained that there was lots of debate about whether to make Lilypad the film’s antagonist.

They said: ‘Lots of people at the studio wanted her to be a villain, and it was so hard to strike the balance because I think we all come in with such loaded emotions towards devices. At the end of the day, it never made sense.

‘We’re not getting rid of these devices, no matter how hard we try. I’m always going to have my phone. I’m probably going to be partially addicted to it. So it felt right for the toys to have to grapple with that nuance.’

Toy Story fans couldn’t help but be distracted by Woody’s appearance after Pixar dropped the trailer to the long-awaited Toy Story 5 back in February.

However, like Andy himself, who has starred in the films since 1995, the toys have aged over time and Woody has a bald patch. In the trailer, Trixie the dinosaur cheekily admits: ‘Someone needs a brown marker.’

Lilypad the tablet questions: ‘What are you? Some sort of old man toy?’

This causes an outraged Trixie to exclaim: ‘She thinks you’re old because you’re bald, Woody!’

Woody’s bald patch went far from unnoticed by fans on social media and one joked: ‘pixar said ‘hey millennials, remember woody? yeah he’s got a bald spot now. so do you. movie tickets are $18′.’

Other fans said of Woody’s aging: ‘That’s wild! Woody’s finally showing his age after all these adventures. Time for a toy hair transplant? Can’t wait for TS5!’ 

Just as Gaza prepared to celebrate Eid al-Adha, a significant Muslim festival, tragedy struck. An Israeli airstrike targeted a building in Gaza City, resulting in the death of Mohammed Odeh, the newly appointed leader of Hamas’ military wing. This was confirmed by both Israeli officials and Hamas.

According to regional media reports, the airstrike also claimed the lives of several members of Odeh’s family. Yet, just two hours later, the bustling markets of Gaza were filled with people preparing for the holiday.

Footage reviewed by Fox News Digital depicted vibrant Eid celebrations, with children shopping and families coming together, seemingly unfazed by the loss of the Hamas commander. Odeh had been identified by Israel as a key figure in orchestrating the attacks of October 7, 2023.

This stark contrast highlights what many observers and Gazans describe as an increasing disconnect between the Hamas leadership and the civilian population. After nearly three years of conflict, which has taken over 70,000 Palestinian lives and displaced a majority of Gaza’s residents, the weariness is palpable. These figures, provided by the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, do not differentiate between civilian and combatant casualties.

Hadeel Oueis, editor-in-chief of Jusoor News, told Fox News Digital the assassinations are creating “a clear vacuum” inside Hamas and weakening coordination between leaders in Gaza and abroad.

“With the deaths of its leaders and the collapse of strong centralized command, Hamas is turning into a smaller militia competing with other armed groups operating in Gaza,” Oueis said. “Hamas is now fighting for survival.”

In a joint statement issued Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said Odeh, who had replaced senior commander Izz al-Din al-Haddad only days earlier, was “one of the architects of the October 7 massacre.”

“Sooner or later, Israel will reach all of them,” Netanyahu and Katz said.

Inside Gaza, several residents interviewed by Jusoor News said they no longer viewed the deaths of Hamas leaders as personal losses.

“Of course we didn’t feel anything when Haddad, Sinwar, or others were killed,” one Gazan activist and former political prisoner told Jusoor News in an on-camera interview, speaking with his face blurred for safety reasons.

The activist was referring to Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the Hamas military commander Israel said it killed earlier in May, and Yahya Sinwar, the former Hamas leader and chief architect of the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, who was killed by Israeli forces in southern Gaza in October 2024.

“Ordinary people are the ones who paid the price, not the leaders who made reckless decisions without thinking,” the activist said.

“As a result, Gaza today is almost completely destroyed,” the activist said. “There are families who have lost everything, while the remaining leaders abroad and inside continue to gamble with our lives constantly.”

A Gaza-based journalist echoed the frustration. 

“When we heard about the killing of Izz al-Din Haddad or others, we were not affected,” the journalist said. “What is even more painful is that the children of the leaders live outside Gaza, in Turkey and Qatar, driving luxury cars and living comfortable lives, while people here have almost gone back to the Stone Age.”

Another Gaza journalist and human rights advocate told Jusoor Hamas had harmed Palestinians as much as Israelis. 

“I do not see the deaths of the leaders as losses for the Palestinians, because we ordinary people are the ones who paid the price,” the advocate said. “Honestly, Hamas did not only hurt the Israelis — they hurt us as well.”

At the same time, Israeli analysts caution that the repeated assassinations do not necessarily mean Hamas is close to collapse.

Michael Milshtein, an expert on the Palestinian arena, told Fox News Digital that Hamas unquestionably has suffered severe damage since Oct. 7, 2023, particularly with the deaths of veteran commanders who helped build the organization’s military structure and doctrine.

“Almost nobody remains from the core group that planned and led the October 7 attack,” he said.

But he noted that Odeh himself had been viewed largely as a second-tier figure before the war rather than an obvious successor to Hamas’ historic military leadership.

“The people replacing them are far less experienced, less capable and far less charismatic,” Milshtein said.

Still, he argued, Hamas continues to maintain functioning chains of command and ideological cohesion despite the losses.

“People know they are likely going to die, and they still compete for these leadership positions,” he said.

The debate over Hamas’ future comes as international efforts to shape a postwar political framework for Gaza accelerate.

Nickolay Mladenov, who was appointed High Representative for Gaza under the Board of Peace initiative, published the core elements of a proposed 15-point “Roadmap to Complete the Implementation of President Trump’s Gaza Comprehensive Peace Plan.”

The proposal includes a phased Hamas disarmament process, internationally supervised security reforms and the establishment of “one authority, one law, one weapon” inside Gaza.

“Gaza cannot recover while armed groups simultaneously operate as governing authorities,” Mladenov wrote while outlining the proposal on social media.

For many Gazans exhausted by years of war, displacement and destruction, the deaths of Hamas leaders now appear to carry less emotional weight than the hope that the conflict itself could finally end.

“Gaza cannot remain hostage to the idea of permanent war while civilians alone pay the entire price,” one activist said.
