In a shocking incident on Thursday morning, a man was apprehended by Zurich Cantonal Police following a violent attack at a train station in Switzerland. The suspect is believed to have assaulted three individuals with a knife at Winterthur train station, causing a stir in the otherwise peaceful locale.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident unfolded with alarming intensity. “I was about 30 meters away when I heard a man shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ five or six times, in a highly emotional and agitated manner,” a witness recounted to the news outlet Blick.

Police quickly responded to the scene, managing to arrest the alleged assailant. Authorities have identified the suspect as a 31-year-old Swiss national. The attack, which occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m., left the community in a state of shock and apprehension.

In related global news, a deadly suicide blast has tragically claimed the lives of at least 23 people on a train route in Pakistan, underscoring a day marked by violence and loss.

In the aftermath of the Winterthur station incident, a police vehicle was seen stationed outside the train station, as the investigation into the attack continues. The scene of the crime has been secured to ensure the safety of the public and facilitate further inquiries into the motives behind this disturbing act of violence.

The three wounded Swiss nationals, ages 28, 43 and 52, were transported to the hospital, according to the release.

“The motive for the attack is under investigation,” the release added.

Zurich Cantonal Police did not provide Fox News Digital with additional information on the incident besides saying a press conference is planned Thursday afternoon about the incident.

“Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the Winterthur city police, the SBB transport police, the rescue service of the Winterthur cantonal hospital and Zurich protection & rescue were deployed. More information will follow this afternoon,” the press release noted.

With the 2028 presidential election still two years away, the Democratic Party is already feeling the pressure, as recent polls indicate a decline in their standing.

According to an Emerson College survey, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has seen a notable increase in support. He is now neck and neck with the expected GOP frontrunner, JD Vance, with both candidates capturing 35% of voter backing.

Despite the Vice President holding a slight edge with 36% support as the Republican nominee, his popularity has taken a hit, dropping more than 15 points from a February high of 52%.

Rubio, who has emerged as a prominent figure in President Donald Trump’s foreign policy, has experienced a surge in popularity, climbing from a modest 20% support to his current standing.

Meanwhile, support for Democratic hopefuls has dwindled, with none surpassing the 20% mark in a competitive field featuring Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Kamala Harris.

While nearly every Democrat saw a slight increase, Newsom and Harris — arguably the more nationally recognized figures — saw declines.

The new poll found Newsom dropped four points from 20% in February, while Harris fell three points from 13%.

Governors Josh Shapiro and Andy Beshear also saw slight increases, rising from 7% to 10% and from 5% to 9%, respectively.

On the conservative side, other candidates included Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Senators Ted Cruz and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., all of whom polled significantly behind Rubio and Vance at below 5%.

Similarly, on the liberal bloc, Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker and Silicon Valley Representative Ro Khanna polled at or below 5%.

The poll was conducted May 24–25 and surveyed 1,000 likely voters.

Brooke Shields is joyfully marking 25 years of marriage with her husband, Chris Henchy.

‘Today marks 25 years married!’ the 60-year-old actress wrote in her Instagram caption on Tuesday. ‘A quarter of a century… does this make us an old married couple?? I love you, Henchy!!’

The renowned model and actress took to social media to share a collection of cherished wedding photos captured by photographer Lara Porzak.

The couple’s relationship blossomed rapidly; they met in 1999, got engaged the following year, and tied the knot in 2001. Shortly after, they welcomed two daughters into their lives: Rowan, now 23, and Grier, 20.

Shields has previously credited their enduring marriage to open communication. “I believe it’s crucial to discuss things openly rather than allowing issues to build up,” she shared with People magazine two years ago. “And you must be ready to adapt.”

Before her marriage to Henchy, the former child star was linked to several notable figures, including Dean Cain, John Kennedy Jr., John Travolta, and Andre Agassi, to whom she was married from 1997 to 1999.

Shields, who starred in The Mother of the Bride, talked to People in May 2024 about how she keeps the love alive with Henchy.

‘Sometimes you don’t grow and change at the same rate. And that can be really hard because what you initially fell in love with looks different. It doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just is different,’ she said.

The Pretty Baby star then added, ‘It’s like we have to get to know each other as people at this age, whereas we met in our early 30s.’

And couples need to adapt all the time, she shared. 

‘The things that were cute in the beginning aren’t cute now,’ she said. ‘So I’ll be like, “That doesn’t fit with me anymore. Can we find another way of ribbing me? That doesn’t feel good anymore. It felt good in my 30s. It doesn’t feel good in my late 50s.”

Their romance moved quickly at first: they met in 1999, became engaged in 2000 and wed in 2001. They have two daughters together, Rowan, 23, and Grier, 20

‘I think that’s where some couples get into trouble because they’re not willing to accept growth and change. I think you have to keep at it,’ she continued.

Last week, she lifted the lid on her romance with Kennedy Jr almost 40 years after they had a brief thing.

The actress was involved with JFK Jr., the late son of murdered US President John F Kennedy, in the late 1980s.

The two met on a skiing trip in Aspen, Colorado, when the model-turned-actress was in her early twenties and making films like Endless Love and Sahara.

Now she has confirmed the pair ‘dated’ but the relationship never turned physical. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Shields explained: ‘I didn’t have a love story, I had a crazy, crazy crush.’

And then she answered the big question on whether they ever had sex: ‘We dated but I never slept with him, so I don’t know if that counts … He was lovely to me.’

The Calvin Klein model previously revealed her daughter Rowan worked as a production assistant on Love Story and she let the actress know her name was going to be mentioned in the series.

Shields told People: ‘That was a little weird. I was away, and my daughter called me and she says: “Oh my God, you’re mentioned in Love Story,” and she’s like: “Is it true?”

‘I was like: “OK, I’d be happy to tell you all the stories if you want, but yes [it’s true].”‘

Shields has previously opened up about sharing a kiss with Kennedy during their romance.

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2023, the actress said: ‘He kissed me, and it was like the best kiss I’ve ever had in my life. It was beyond not disappointing. The lips are beautiful, and the face is amazing, and the body and the person, and he was down to earth and funny and irreverent.’

She added about the relationship: ‘It was beyond not-disappointing. I froze, though, because he was so precious to me. I was like: “Oh, my God, you’re falling in love, and if you sleep with him, he may not talk to you again – and you can’t handle that.”

‘I wasn’t playing a game. I really was just so afraid of being really hurt, because if I slept with him, I would’ve given him my entire universe, my heart, my everything.’

Kennedy and his wife Bessette were killed in a plane crash in 1999, which also claimed the life of Carolyn’s sister Lauren. 

Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago is preparing for a significant meeting with Pope Leo XIV this Thursday. As the first Chicago native to hold the papal office, Pope Leo XIV will host the mayor in a private session at the Vatican Apostolic Library.

This meeting marks a notable occasion, as it is the first time a Chicago mayor has visited the Vatican since Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s meeting with Pope Francis in 2016. Mayor Johnson is expected to engage in discussions on a variety of topics with the pope, underscoring the importance of this cross-continental dialogue.

In honor of Pope Leo XIV’s Chicago roots, Mayor Johnson and his team plan to present the pope with a selection of gifts emblematic of their shared city. Among these tokens are giardiniera, a staple in Chicago’s culinary scene, and merchandise from the Chicago Cubs, reflecting the city’s rich sports culture.

This will be the first time a Chicago mayor has visited the pope since then Mayor Rahm Emanuel met with Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2016.

Mayor Johnson and his team will be bringing the pope a few gifts for the Chicago-born pope, including giardiniera and Cubs merch.

Johnson said he plans to thank the Catholic leader for his advocacy, including pushing back against the U.S. war in Iran and President Trump’s immigration policies and actions carried out during Operation Midway Blitz.

“I am going to thank him for his courage and his strength particularly his moral stance around these endless wars, his stances around protecting workers, his clarity around the dreadful and the most barbaric form of slavery and offering up that apology and recognition and the role that slavery has played in the harm that has been caused for generations,” Johnson said.

The trip is funded and led by World Business Chicago, an economic development agency in the city.

Besides meeting with Pope Leo, Johnson plans on touring Rome to discuss sustainability, economic development, affordability, and public transit.

Johnson plans to also spend the day with the Roman mayor, and extending an invite to come visit Chicago.

Mayor Johnson will return to Chicago on Saturday.

Wednesday night saw heated confrontations outside the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, New Jersey, as demonstrators, their faces partially covered with keffiyehs, engaged in a volatile standoff with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The protest, part of a series of demonstrations against the reported harsh conditions faced by detainees, escalated as objects flew across a barrier dividing the two groups.

These demonstrators, now in their fifth consecutive night of protest, used items like mattresses and large traffic cones as improvised shields, underscoring the intensity and determination of their efforts. Tensions boiled over as protesters hurled insults such as “kill yourself, bro!” and “how do you live with yourself?” at the agents, while throwing mattresses and other objects in their direction, as evidenced by footage obtained by Fox News Digital.

In response, ICE agents wielded batons and resorted to pepper spray to regain control of the situation. At one point, they were seen retaliating by throwing objects back at the protesters, including a wooden pallet, which was captured on video as they seized it from an agitator.

ICE agents also deployed pepper balls against the crowds, according to journalist Oliya Scootercaster.

The agitators used cement blocks and sandbags to reinforce their line, videos and pictures obtained by Fox News Digital showed.

Crowds also blocked the surrounding street, a busy industrial corridor, and prevented trucks from moving through, social media video shows. One truck driver got out of his car and castigated the agitators.

“Come on! What’s wrong with y’all?” the driver yelled, according to video posted by Scootercaster.

The Wednesday night clashes follow similar confrontations Tuesday night that saw ICE agents beat back agitators with batons and deploy chemicals. ICE agents reacted after agitators attempted to stop vehicles from leaving the facility. Authorities made two arrests stemming from the incident after agitators sprayed unknown substances on law enforcement agents.

“ICE law enforcement officers were assaulted by anti-ICE rioters who sprayed law enforcement with an unknown chemical substance,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin wrote in a post on X.

Demonstrations have been ongoing for days after detainees in the facility wrote an open letter claiming they were not being fed, not receiving proper medical care and not being allowed to speak to their families.

“We are being tortured physically and psychologically due to the poor food resources provided in these detention centers,” the letter read.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuted these claims in a statement.

“The facts are all detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, and toiletries. Illegal aliens also have access to phones to communicate with their family members and lawyers,” the agency said in a statement.

Protests picked up steam when prominent New Jersey lawmakers showed up on Memorial Day. Sen. Andy Kim, D-N.J., and Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill visited Monday and attempted to enter the facility.

Kim was granted access to conduct congressional oversight, though Sherrill was not.

Kim detailed his entry into the facility in a series of X posts, calling the conditions “unacceptable” and citing a carton of milk he saw that was set to expire the next day. Mullin responded on X.

“It’s unfortunate that Senator Andy Kim (who I’ve had a good relationship with) is spreading this FALSE narrative and adding fuel to the fire for no other reason than political theater. This isn’t a Holiday Inn. Illegal aliens are at this detention facility because they broke our nation’s laws,” Mullin wrote.

Mullin also criticized the state’s leadership during a Thursday morning appearance on Fox & Friends for not supporting federal efforts with local law enforcement.

“We called local police, we called state police multiple times. Listen, I know the law enforcement there would love to respond, but because of Governor Sherrill’s behavior what the governor is doing, she’s not allowing public officers and state officers to respond,” Mullin said.

He also said a continued lack of cooperation could lead to a slowdown at local airports.

“If they’re not allowing it then we gotta prioritize federal police officers and that may affect international flights coming in and out of their airport. Because I’m gonna have to pull Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers out of being able to process international flights and put them helping our ICE agents,” Mullin said.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner came together to support their daughter Violet, 20, during a visit to an urgent care facility on Tuesday.

The Yale University student was seen limping into the Los Angeles medical center, with her well-known parents by her side, as captured in photos published by Page Six on Thursday.

Affleck, 53, provided support by wrapping his arm around Violet, while Garner, 54, assisted them both as they made their way inside.

Despite the circumstances, both Affleck and Garner appeared in good spirits while accompanying Violet into the medical office.

Violet, dressed in a white sweater paired with a red floral dress, sneakers, glasses, and a mask, was later photographed leaving the facility on crutches.

Meanwhile, Affleck sported a gray jacket, blue shirt and tan pants, while Garner cut a casual figure in a white sweater, jeans and sunglasses.

Reps for Garner and Affleck have yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment on the nature of Violet’s injury.

The “Daredevil” co-stars married in 2005, split a decade later and finalized their divorce in 2018.

During their marriage, they welcomed three children — Violet, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14.

In recent years, their eldest child has been an outspoken advocate for post-COVID mask mandates.

While giving an impassioned speech about the topic at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting in 2024, Violet claimed she “contracted a post-viral condition in 2019.”

“I’m OK now,” she clarified, “but I saw first-hand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses.”

Violet gave another powerful speech about mask mandates at the United Nations last September and said she’s “terrified” for children because of how public officials have handled the COVID-19 pandemic.

In May 2024, Violet made headlines for her high school graduation — and Garner’s crying selfies from the ceremony.

“I was a wreck the whole month leading up to it,” Garner said on “Today” the following month. “Every awards ceremony, every final, everything, I just cried and cried at everything.”

Violet began her freshman year at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, in August 2024.

At the time, both Garner and Affleck were on hand helping her move in.

The family, minus Samuel, enjoyed a nice dinner together before saying their goodbyes.

Hugh Jackman’s girlfriend, Sutton Foster, recently opened up about feeling “really alone,” just days after being seen in a seemingly tense moment with the actor.

However, Deb has no intention of causing trouble for the pair and wants to meet so they can all move forward. 

‘This isn’t about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act. It’s about closure,’ an insider told New Idea magazine.

They added that while Deborra was initially reluctant to meet, she now wants to, in an attempt to minimise some of the perceived tension.

‘At this point it feels like something she needs to check off her list, if only to put an end to the awkwardness… also so she can speak her truth,’ the insider added.

They said that Hugh and Sutton had been very public about their new romance, which had come as a shock to Deborra, as they were visiting all the places that she used to go to with the Wolverine actor. 

The source said that Hugh and Sutton were surprised by Deborra’s request – but were open to the idea so they could clear the air of any perceived tension. 

Following the claims, Sutton and Hugh were pictured on a tense outing while heading to the gym in New York City.

The actor notably showed up to the 2024 soiree solo and skipped the event altogether last year amid their high-profile split.

And for his grand 2026 return to the Met Gala, Hugh had Sutton by his side as he trekked up the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s iconic staircase.

Their Met Gala debut as a couple comes amid rumours that a wedding between the pair is close at hand.

Back in February, the Globe claimed that Hugh rejected the idea of drawing up a prenup with the Broadway star.  

The alleged wedding planning came less than a year after Hugh and Deborra-Lee finalised their bitter divorce, after separating in 2023.
