Police descended on the gated-community home of Candice Jang, the estranged wife of slain New York Times technology executive Jonathan McKinsey, on Tuesday night. Multiple officers were seen entering the residence while Jang’s parents remained jailed in connection with the fatal shooting.

Video recorded Tuesday showed officers arriving at a group of townhomes inside the community at about 7 p.m.

The officers repeatedly knocked on the door before someone opened it from inside.

Police then entered the residence one at a time and left by approximately 9 p.m.

No arrests were reported during the operation, and officers did not remove any property from the home.

The search came days after McKinsey, 40, was allegedly shot and killed in Northern California. His elderly Chinese in-laws, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77, have been accused in the case.

According to police, the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Dublin Sports Grounds.

Witnesses told investigators that Zhang and Chen allegedly fired at McKinsey in succession.

The New York Times confirmed McKinsey was the victim. He had joined the newspaper in 2023 and served as its head of engineering for games player experience.

At the time of his death, McKinsey and Jang were involved in a contentious custody dispute concerning their children.

Court records reviewed by The Post indicate that Alameda County prosecutors charged McKinsey with two misdemeanor counts of child abuse in 2025.

In a restraining-order filing against Jang, McKinsey stated that Chen had visited the couple in 2023 to care for their children.

Other court documents say the grandmother accused of fatally shooting her transgender New York Times executive son-in-law claimed he had influenced her grandson to wear his sister’s dresses.

Lovell Garner, McKinsey’s cousin, told The California Post that relatives were still trying to come to terms with the killing.

“Well, it’s all still pretty fresh for me still,” Garner said. “So far, everyone in my immediate family is completely shocked. It seems obvious that they were done with him since they killed him. Not sure what would make them do something that extreme.”

Zhang and Chen remain in custody as authorities continue investigating McKinsey’s death.

A Venezuelan man wounded by an ICE officer after a vehicle chase in Austin earlier this month is facing federal charges, the Justice Department said Tuesday. Wilber Rafael Garces-Perez is accused of assaulting, resisting, obstructing and interfering with a federal officer.

Federal prosecutors allege that Garces-Perez, 28, ignored ICE agents’ orders to leave his vehicle during a targeted traffic stop, then sped away and hit an officer in the torso with the driver’s-side mirror.

If convicted, Garces-Perez could receive a federal prison sentence of up to 20 years, according to the DOJ.

The criminal complaint says officers noticed Garces-Perez’s vehicle outside a restaurant and checked its license plate. They determined that an immigration judge had issued a final removal order against him before attempting to pull him over.

The complaint describes conflicting accounts of whether the vehicles collided during the stop. One officer told investigators that there had been no contact, while Garces-Perez said an ICE SUV caused a crash as it moved to stop him.

Garces-Perez handed over his driver’s license during the initial interaction, according to the complaint.

Officers characterized the first part of the encounter as “pleasant and not aggressive.” But after they directed Garces-Perez to put the car in park and get out, body camera footage allegedly shows him suddenly rolling up the window and driving off.

Garces-Perez later acknowledged to federal investigators that he disobeyed the order to exit and drove away, the complaint states. Investigators read him his Miranda rights in Spanish, and he said he understood them before agreeing to answer questions without a lawyer present.

As Garces-Perez fled, the driver’s-side mirror struck an ICE officer in the torso, prosecutors allege.

ICE agents then followed him through business districts and residential neighborhoods, using emergency lights and sirens during the pursuit, according to the complaint.

The body-camera-wearing officer reportedly lost sight of Garces-Perez and the other ICE agent while seeking assistance from a Texas Department of Public Safety dispatcher. The complaint says he then turned off his camera. The second officer, who fired the shot, did not have a body camera.

The second officer later contacted his partner and said Garces-Perez had tried to hit him with the vehicle. The officer then fired his service weapon, according to the complaint.

Garces-Perez was hit in the upper back, the complaint says. He later told investigators that the ICE SUV struck his vehicle and spun it around. He also said that after the shooting, the officer opened his door, took the keys from the ignition and instructed him to stay inside while waiting for an ambulance.

Disputes have also emerged over the circumstances of Garces-Perez’s immigration case.

Fox News previously reported that his attorney, Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, argued the removal order was issued after a hearing notice went to an outdated address. She said Garces-Perez had already updated his address with the immigration court.

ICE has rejected claims about his immigration status, stating that his employment authorization expired in 2025. The agency also emphasized that a work permit alone does not provide lawful immigration status.

His attorney has said Garces-Perez remains seriously ill and has a bullet lodged in his body while being held at an ICE detention facility.

Lincoln-Goldfinch, responding to the criminal complaint in a social media post, called for DHS to release the body camera footage.

“The criminal complaint also provides another critical piece of information: one of the officers involved in the incident had a body camera that was turned off at some point during the pursuit. We have not seen that footage. DHS must release the body camera footage immediately and provide full transparency to the American public,” Lincoln-Goldfinch wrote.

“He is now facing proceedings in both a federal criminal case and his federal immigration habeas case. We are working through what these developments mean, and we will share additional information as we are able.”

DOJ said Garces-Perez made his initial appearance in federal court Tuesday.

A detention hearing is scheduled for Oct. 2.

Mo Money, Mo Problems? Apparently not for Diddy.

Disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly enjoying an unusually comfortable existence inside New Jersey’s Fort Dix federal prison, with alleged access to a cellphone, alcohol and inmates who cater to his daily needs, NBC News reported.

Combs, 56, is serving a 50-month sentence for prostitution-related offenses. Four men who spent time in the same unit as the former hip-hop producer told NBC, speaking anonymously, that he spends thousands of dollars each month maintaining a pampered lifestyle behind bars.

“This is not some normal s–t you see in jail. This is some rich s–t,” one man said. “It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”

The sources alleged that inmates at the low-security facility cook for Combs, clean for him, make his bed and handle his laundry. They also said someone provides him with Chinese-style massages, NBC reported.

Multiple sources told the outlet that Combs uses contraband cellphones to browse Instagram and view nude or sexually explicit images sent by a former girlfriend while he remains separated from the outside world at the all-male federal facility.

Two sources also claimed Combs has a “jailbroken” tablet that he uses to watch movies and documentaries. Among them, they said, is the Netflix docuseries “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” produced by his longtime rival, 50 Cent.

The sources further alleged that the former mogul has paid for other inmates’ prescription Remeron medication, which is known inside prison as “rem-roms.”

Remeron is prescribed to inmates dealing with depression and anxiety, but the medication is also reportedly traded through the prison’s active black market, according to the sources.

“You can pretty much get anything except a key to the front door and a female,” one anonymous inmate said.

On weekends, Combs reportedly accesses a hidden supply of premium liquor allegedly smuggled into the prison by guards and shared with a small circle of inmates, the station reported.

“Hell yeah, I drank with him,” one inmate recalled, saying he shared Hennessy with Combs.

According to the sources, money from people outside the prison flows into commissary accounts belonging to inmates who provide services for Combs, helping him sustain his lavish routine at the low-security facility.

One inmate who was allegedly paid by Combs cleaned the toilet and shower areas before the convicted rapper used them, the sources said.

Other inmates reportedly prepared special meals in secret with makeshift heating devices submerged in water. The dishes allegedly included curry chicken, pizza and empanadas.

“After a while, I got tired of cooking,” one man who said he prepared food for Combs and other inmates told NBC. “He started going to the Jamaicans.”

Other prisoners allegedly help by holding onto Combs’ cellphone and fan mail.

“It’s so much that he gets,” one source said. “He doesn’t have room for it.”

Combs, also known as “Puff Daddy,” was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation for prostitution. He was acquitted on two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, as well as racketeering conspiracy.

Combs’ attorneys pushed for the rap mogul, who has a documented history of heavy substance use and addiction, to be sent to Fort Dix prison because of its highly sought-after drug treatment program, which often leads to a reduction of an inmate’s prison term, NBC reported. 

He entered the months-long program upon arriving at the New Jersey prison, but sources said it took little time for Combs to get his hands on a phone and alcohol — as well as growing the number of inmates on his payroll.

“Pretty much the day he arrived, the party started,” one of the sources told the outlet. 

Combs was sent to solitary confinement in July after getting into a brawl with another inmate and was later kicked out of the drug treatment program, according to the sources. 

But after getting out of isolation, the Grammy winner went straight back to his lavish lifestyle with a team of inmates catering to him — something only wealth can buy in prison.

“He’s a billionaire. People are in awe of him,” one of the sources said. “Money is power, especially behind bars.”

Although “Diddy” was first declared a billionaire by hip-hop wealth expert Zack O’Malley Greenburg in 2022, his net worth is believed to have crumbled over the years to the ballpark figure of $300 million to $400 million.

In response to NBC’s reporting on Combs’ ritzy prison lifestyle, the rapper’s spokesperson said in a statement to the outlet: “The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news.”

“The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence while awaiting the court’s decision on his appeal.”

News of Combs’ luxe life behind bars comes just hours after Page Six reported he is once again closer to life after lockup. 

According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records viewed by Page Six, the embattled music mogul’s release date from FCI Fort Dix now falls on Jan. 21, 2028. TMZ was the first to report the news on Tuesday.

The disgraced rapper’s release date has been brought up and pushed back several times since he was locked up — but his original release date was June 2028.

Chad Lowe’s 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, has died.

Her family confirmed the devastating news to Page Six, revealing that the Life Goes On star, 58 — who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, 62 — lost his teenage daughter on Tuesday, while directing anyone struggling with mental health to reach out to the suicide prevention helpline. 

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” her family said. “She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

The statement concluded: “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”

Lowe, who was formerly married to actress Hilary Swank, shared Fiona with his producer wife, Kim Painter. The couple also have two daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

The Daily Mail has contacted Lowe’s representatives for comment.

Parents at Fiona’s school reportedly received an email from the principal on Tuesday informing them that a student had died, according to Page Six. The message did not identify the student.

The email offered condolences to the student’s family and said that “counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”

The actor’s most recent Instagram tribute to Fiona came in November 2025, when he marked her birthday with a photo of her smiling in cowboy boots.

“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” Lowe wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

In February 2025, Lowe also posted a photo of his three daughters visiting what remained of their childhood home in Los Angeles after the devastating Palisades fire.

The Tennessee man charged with killing a Kentucky state trooper was on probation and already wanted for an alleged violation. His criminal history includes convictions involving assault, fraud and illegal firearm possession.

Emonnie Branch, 51, was denied bond Tuesday on a murder-of-a-first-responder charge in the death of Trooper Hayden Phillips, a husband and father of three young sons.

Records from the Tennessee Department of Correction reviewed by News Media show Branch was serving a five-year probation term stemming from a fraud-related conviction. His supervision was scheduled to continue through July 2030.

Sumner County District Attorney Thomas Dean told Fox 17 Nashville that Branch was wanted for violating probation connected to his securities fraud conviction even before Monday’s shooting.

“It looks like he has a very extensive and varied criminal history,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Kori Bumgarner said during Branch’s arraignment Tuesday, according to the outlet.

Dean said Branch’s previous convictions included attempted domestic assault, violating a no-contact order and securities fraud. Court records reviewed by the outlet also list a 2009 conviction for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Fox 17 reported that Branch had been arrested twice this year for probation violations. Warren County Regional Jail records reviewed by News Media show he is being held without bond on the murder allegation and a fugitive charge.

Kentucky State Police said Phillips was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Interstate 65 in Warren County on Monday. Authorities named Branch as the suspect and issued a statewide Blue Alert before Louisville Metro Police arrested him later that evening.

“He was senselessly murdered,” U.S. Attorney Kyle Bumgarner said Monday night at a news briefing. “We have a wife that expected her husband to come home. We have three little boys who don’t have a dad.”

“One of our own was gunned down and murdered on the side of the road,” Kyle Bumgarner said.

He promised that the Justice Department would provide state prosecutors and investigators with “every tool” and “every bit of support” available as they seek the maximum sentence.

Kentucky State Police Commissioner Col. Phillip Burnett Jr. denounced the suspect’s “cowardly actions” and explained why he had used Branch’s name only once.

“I want you to know I only mentioned his name one time,” Burnett said.

“We will seek justice for Hayden,” he continued. “Let me repeat that: We will seek justice for Hayden. We will not rest until this happens.”

Phillips had served with the state police for three years and was assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green. Burnett assured the trooper’s family that the agency would remain by their side.

“You will not walk this path alone,” he said.

Phillips’ wife, Jordan, shared her grief Tuesday.

“I’ve laid here all night waiting for him to come home… for the radio to click off, the gun belt to hang,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I promise to pick up all the pieces and force myself to carry on for your boys. I know you would want me to,” she added.

State police escorted Phillips’ body to Glasgow Tuesday. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. local time.

Gov. Andy Beshear ordered flags at all state buildings lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Sunday, Oct. 4, in honor of Phillips.

“Trooper Hayden Phillips was a hero who sacrificed everything protecting our people and our commonwealth, and it is our sacred duty to honor him and his family,” Beshear said.

He urged Kentuckians to pray for Jordan and their three children and encouraged donations to the Kentucky State Police Foundation, saying all proceeds would go directly to the family.

Jordan asked people to share memories of her husband with their sons.

“He was just the kind of guy who is easy to celebrate,” she wrote.
