Emerging COVID Variant Detected in Australia: What You Need to Know

0
A new strain of COVID-19 is spreading across the US, Europe and is now spiking here in Australia.

Health experts assert that the BA.3.2 variant, colloquially named “Cicada,” does not present a heightened health risk compared to other COVID-19 variants.

It was first identified in South Africa a few years ago but it’s now spreading rapidly in parts of Europe, the US and is gaining traction across the country.

New South Wales is leading the country in the number of Cicada cases with 10,247, followed by Queensland with 6378 and Victoria has 3635.

Current statistics reveal that South Australia has recorded 1,932 cases. Meanwhile, Western Australia has noted 773 cases, the Australian Capital Territory has 225, Tasmania reports 263, and the Northern Territory accounts for 128 cases.

Although recent genome sequencing indicates a rise in the Cicada strain’s presence, professionals like Professor Patrick Reading from the World Health Organization advise there is no need for concern.

Professor Reading informed 9News, “The variant was initially identified in Western Australia in 2025, and it has since appeared in other states.”

He further clarified, “There is no evidence suggesting that this subvariant leads to increased severity, hospitalizations, or deaths.”

The strain is a descendant of Omicron and carries between 70 and 75 genetic changes in its spike protein compared to its predecessors, helping the virus get into cells and evade the immune system.

“It may be possible that the current vaccine we use may not do such a good job against this variant as it does against other circulating variants,” Reading said.

It’s important to note, it’s not the dominant circulating strain.

Experts say vaccination remains critically important, particularly for the elderly and those with chronic health conditions, as well as other measures.

“Masks, testing at home, staying at home if you’re unwell, hand hygiene and other ways to limit the spread,” Reading said.

It’s one of five Omicron subvariants being monitored by the World Health Organisation.

Revitalize Your Core: 5 Dumbbell Moves to Boost Strength Beyond Planks for Those Over 60

0

According to a certified strength coach, dynamic dumbbell exercises might just outshine traditional planks for those over 60 seeking to enhance their core strength.

While many individuals over 60 often resort to planking as their go-to core exercise, merely holding a plank position can fall short of realizing the full potential of core workouts. The core does much more than maintain a static position; it plays a crucial role in stabilizing the spine, facilitating force transfer between the upper and lower body, and ensuring balance during everyday movements. By engaging in dynamic resistance training, you harness strength that translates into improved mobility and overall well-being.

This is where dumbbells become invaluable. They allow your core to be loaded in various directions while enabling natural movement. Throughout my years of coaching, particularly with clients aiming to regain strength and confidence beyond their 60s, I’ve observed that significant progress occurs when we move beyond static exercises to involve the core in dynamic motions. Exercises such as anti-rotation moves, loaded carries, and controlled movement patterns activate the core in ways that planks simply cannot.

To truly regain strength and enhance stability in daily activities, core training should reflect these goals. The following exercises not only build strength through movement but also test your balance, reinforcing the core’s natural function. Let’s explore the exercises that can make a tangible difference in your strength training routine.

If your goal is to restore strength and feel more stable in everything you do, your core training needs to reflect that. The exercises below build strength through movement, challenge your balance, and reinforce how your core is meant to function. Let’s get into the moves that make a real difference.

Suitcase Carry

This is one of the most effective ways to train your core without ever getting on the floor. Holding a weight on one side forces your core to resist bending and twisting with every step you take. That anti-lateral flexion demand lights up your obliques and deep stabilizers immediately. It also reinforces posture, which becomes increasingly important as you age. Over time, this builds a strong, resilient core that supports everything from walking to lifting.

Muscles Trained: Obliques, transverse abdominis, rectus abdominis, and grip

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a dumbbell in one hand at your side.
  2. Stand tall with your shoulders level and core braced.
  3. Begin walking forward with controlled, steady steps.
  4. Keep your torso upright and avoid leaning to one side.
  5. Maintain tight core engagement throughout the walk.
  6. Switch hands after completing your distance or time.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 to 4 sets of 20 to 40 seconds per side. Rest for 45 to 75 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Farmer carry, offset carry, rack carry

Form Tip: Imagine balancing a glass of water on your head and keeping your posture tall.

Dumbbell Dead Bug

The dead bug teaches your core how to stabilize your spine while your limbs move, which is exactly how your body functions in real life. Adding a dumbbell increases the challenge and forces your core to work harder to maintain control. You’ll feel your deep core muscles engage as you resist the urge to arch your lower back. This builds strength and coordination at the same time. It’s a foundational movement that pays off quickly.

Muscles Trained: Transverse abdominis, rectus abdominis, hip flexors, and shoulders

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back holding a dumbbell with both hands above your chest.
  2. Raise your legs into a tabletop position.
  3. Press your lower back into the floor.
  4. Extend one leg while keeping the other bent.
  5. Return to the starting position and alternate legs.
  6. Keep the dumbbell steady throughout the movement.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps per side. Rest for 45 to 75 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Single-arm dead bug, alternating reach dead bug, tempo dead bug

Form Tip: Keep your lower back pressed firmly into the floor throughout.

Dumbbell Russian Twist

Rotational strength is often overlooked, but it plays a major role in maintaining mobility and coordination. The Russian twist trains your core to control rotation rather than just create it. Holding a dumbbell adds resistance, which increases the demand on your obliques. This helps improve how your body transfers force and maintains balance. It’s a great way to bring more complete core development into your routine.

Muscles Trained: Obliques, rectus abdominis, and hip flexors

How to Do It:

  1. Sit on the floor holding a dumbbell with both hands.
  2. Lean back slightly while keeping your chest lifted.
  3. Lift your feet off the ground if comfortable.
  4. Rotate your torso to one side, bringing the dumbbell across your body.
  5. Rotate to the opposite side in a controlled manner.
  6. Continue alternating sides with steady control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 16 reps per side. Rest for 45 to 75 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Feet-down twist, slow tempo twist, pause twist

Form Tip: Rotate through your torso, not just your arms.

Dumbbell Front Carry

Holding a dumbbell in front of your body forces your core to brace and resist extension. This position challenges your deep stabilizers while reinforcing strong posture. It also engages your upper body and teaches your core how to support load in a functional position. You’ll notice how quickly your core fatigues while still staying upright. That’s exactly the kind of strength that carries over into daily life.

Muscles Trained: Rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, shoulders, and upper back

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a dumbbell at chest height with both hands.
  2. Stand tall with your core braced.
  3. Begin walking forward in a controlled manner.
  4. Keep your elbows slightly tucked and your chest upright.
  5. Maintain steady breathing throughout the movement.
  6. Continue for the desired time or distance.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 20 to 40 seconds. Rest for 45 to 75 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Double dumbbell front carry, alternating carry, offset front carry

Form Tip: Avoid letting the weight pull your torso forward.

Dumbbell March

The dumbbell march challenges your core in a subtle but powerful way. Each step forces your body to stabilize as you shift weight from side to side. This builds balance, coordination, and core strength all at once. It also mimics real-world movement, which makes it incredibly useful for maintaining independence and confidence. Over time, it helps reinforce a strong, stable foundation.

Muscles Trained: Core stabilizers, hip flexors, glutes, and obliques

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a dumbbell in one or both hands.
  2. Stand tall with your core engaged.
  3. Lift one knee up to hip height.
  4. Lower it back down with control.
  5. Alternate legs in a marching pattern.
  6. Maintain balance and posture throughout.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 14 reps per leg. Rest for 45 to 75 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Suitcase march, front-loaded march, slow tempo march

Form Tip: Move slowly and avoid leaning side to side.

The Best Actions for Restoring Core Strength After 60

Restoring core strength after 60 comes down to training your body to move the way it’s meant to. Your core isn’t just there for aesthetics or holding static positions. It’s the center of everything you do, from standing and walking to lifting and reaching. When you train it through movement and resistance, you build strength that actually supports your daily life. Dumbbells make this process simple, effective, and easy to adjust as you improve. Stick with it, and you’ll notice better posture, improved balance, and a stronger, more capable body.

Here’s how to maximize your results:

  • Train your core through movement: Focus on carries, marches, and controlled rotations rather than static holds.
  • Prioritize posture: Keep your torso tall and your ribs stacked over your hips during every exercise.
  • Use manageable loads: Choose weights that challenge you without breaking your form.
  • Stay consistent with volume: Aim for 8 to 12 total working sets per week.
  • Control your tempo: Slow, controlled reps improve muscle engagement and stability.
  • Breathe with intention: Exhale during effort to reinforce core bracing.

Build your core with purpose, and you’ll feel the difference in everything you do.

Trump’s Easter Message: A Call for Faith, Revival, and Unprecedented National Success

0

On Friday night, President Donald Trump shared an Easter message aimed at Christians worldwide, emphasizing the core significance of Easter—the resurrection of Jesus Christ—and the hopeful spirit it embodies. The message served as a reminder of the cornerstone of Christian faith.

In his address, President Trump highlighted one of the most iconic passages from the Bible, John 3:16, which encapsulates the promise at the heart of Easter. This verse is a staple of the Christian doctrine, underscoring the essence of the resurrection and its implications for believers.

Trump also reflected on the current state of faith within the nation, asserting that rather than diminishing, it is experiencing a visible resurgence. He suggested that this renewed faith is becoming more apparent across the country.

In a related note, on Friday, the President also celebrated significant economic news. He highlighted a surge in private-sector jobs, using the March employment report to bolster his argument about the strength of the U.S. economy. This development was positioned as a testament to the country’s economic progress under his leadership.

The president then points to John 3:16, one of the most widely known passages in scripture, reinforcing the promise at the center of Easter:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Lastly, President Trump turns to what that faith looks like in the country right now, arguing that it is not fading but returning in a visible way:

“This Easter, millions of Christians all over the globe will be reminded that because of what Jesus did on the Cross, all of us can live every day with hope in God’s promise, knowing that in the end, evil and wickedness will not prevail. In the spirit of joy and renewal this Easter, we also celebrate the extraordinary resurrection of faith and religion in America… churches across the nation, on Sunday, the pews will be fuller, younger and more faithful than they have at any time in many, many years… our country is doing so well like never before.”

Great News For U.S. Friday: Trump Celebrates Private-Sector Jobs Surge, Uses March Report to Make His Case on Economy

Debate the numbers, the delivery, or even the messenger if you want, but the message stands on its own.

That same idea appears in a past Easter reflection from RedStates Susie Moore:

“As difficult as it was to watch, it really brought home the enormity of the sacrifice made for us – and of the depth and breadth of God’s love for us… my prayer is that we all are reminded just how much we are loved.”

That’s what makes this message by Trump work, not politics or spin, just the core message of Easter.

At a time when everything feels loud and fractured, the tone here leans on humility, sacrifice, and hope without trying to turn it into something else, a reminder that Easter is about the idea that darkness does not win, that things can be restored, and that there is something lasting beyond the moment in which we find ourselves.

That’s a message people everywhere could use right now.

Senator Declares Opposition to AG Candidates Who Justify January 6 Events

0

During an appearance on CNN’s “The Source” on Thursday, Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina declared his firm stance against endorsing any attorney general nominee who downplays or excuses the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021.

In a conversation with host Kaitlan Collins, Tillis was asked about President Biden’s decision to dismiss Pam Bondi. Collins inquired, “Do you think the president made the right decision to fire Pam Bondi today?”

Senator Tillis expressed uncertainty regarding the president’s rationale, stating, “I’m not entirely sure what the basis was, as a potential new nominee might come before the Judiciary Committee. It’s a bit early for me to grasp the reasoning behind it. I had a positive working relationship with General Bondi. I’ve heard some reports suggesting presidential frustration over certain case pursuits. Personally, I disagree with some of those pursuits, like what I consider the unfounded case against Chair Powell. If that’s the root of the frustration, I must respectfully disagree with the president. However, if there are other reasons that haven’t yet surfaced, I’ll hold off on making a judgment.”

Tillis further emphasized his criteria for supporting a new nominee, stating, “For me, the disqualifying factor is if they make any statements that excuse the events of January 6. I have been unequivocal on this matter. Therefore, I hope the prospective candidate to succeed General Bondi understands my firm stance on January 6. It’s the reason I opposed two prior nominees at the Judiciary Committee, and I will not support any nominee who believes any part of January 6 is justifiable.”

Unveiling Nashville’s Mass Exodus: The Real Reasons Residents are Fleeing

0

Nashville, renowned for its energetic country music scene and bustling downtown area, continues to captivate both locals and visitors with its unique charm. However, beneath the city’s lively exterior, a growing concern is taking shape among its residents.

Many Nashvillians are expressing worries that their beloved Music City is becoming overwhelmingly crowded. This surge in popularity is contributing to an unsettling trend where long-time locals find themselves being pushed out of the increasingly trendy metropolis.

According to a 2026 survey conducted by Vanderbilt, over half of Nashville’s residents feel that their city is heading in the wrong direction. This sentiment is echoed by those contemplating a move away from the area, with rising living costs and the notorious traffic congestion to and from downtown cited as significant factors.

Josh Clinton, co-director of the Vanderbilt Poll, highlights the financial pressure on residents, stating, “Unaffordability threatens the long-term fabric of the community, and the numbers show that most residents are concerned about being able to afford a home in Nashville.” Such concerns underscore the growing challenges facing this vibrant city as it grapples with the balance between growth and livability.

‘Unaffordability threatens the long-term fabric of the community,’ Vanderbilt Poll co-director Josh Clinton said, ‘and the numbers show that most residents are concerned about being able to afford a home in Nashville.’

The same report revealed 79 percent of residents think Nashville’s population is growing too quickly, with outsiders flocking from other states to work and live in Tennessee’s capital.

As home prices increase, some worry that the southern city does not have the infrastructure to keep up – or if it does, they worry the culture woven into the area will be cast aside.

‘The data suggests that most residents want the city to focus on real, day-to-day problems in their neighborhoods rather than some of the larger projects and developments around the city that are more visible and therefore tend to attract the most attention,’ Clinton said.

Residents say that, beyond bustling, the Music City is becoming too crowded, and long-time locals are being pushed out of the trendy city

Nearly half of residents (48 percent) said recent changes to the city have made their daily lives worse, claiming the city can’t keep up with the growing population and housing needs.

Of the current Nashville locals, a staggering 82 percent report they cannot afford to buy a house in Davidson County – where Nashville lies, while only 36 percent have plans to purchase a property in the area.

The current median listing price in the Nashville metro is $527,225. According to WKRN, the median price for a residential single-family home in the greater Nashville area was just $345,000 in 2020.

Although Tennessee has no income tax, Nashville property taxes have gone up 60 percent over the last five years, according to Fox 17. This makes it difficult for small businesses to find footing, or middle-class families to permanently put down roots.

The rising housing costs comes as a result of growing ‘good’ jobs in the area. The Daily Mail previously reported that the capital city has ‘more than 900 companies with 550,000 employees working in the health care industry. HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare are among the large companies based in the growing city.’

‘There’s demand for more local job creation,’ John Geer, co-director of the Vanderbilt Poll said. ‘This points to deeper issues of affordability and the need for Nashville’s leadership to prioritize ways to ease the concerns of its residents.’

With many professional vying for limited housing options, prices for the remaining houses and rentals on the market increase.

But the solution isn’t just to build apartment complexes. More than half of current Nashville residents think multifamily housing, like duplexes and apartments, should be allowed only in dense areas to better preserve the ‘character’ of less-populated areas.

Tennessee is one of the US states with the most newcomers, as residents flee more expensive coastal cities

Tennessee is one of the US states with the most newcomers, as residents flee more expensive coastal cities

‘Faced with Nashville’s rapid growth, residents are worried about being priced out of the city they call home,’ Clinton said.

New data from Hireahelper suggests that residents are trading expensive coastal states like California for less expensive areas in the South.

California landed in the top five states were residents are leaving in droves, while Tennessee, with no state income tax on wages, became a hotspot. In 2025, the state had 43.6 newcomers for every 10,000 people already living there.

Nashville locals are feeling the influx.

‘Nashvillians can’t afford to live in Nashville,’ one social media user wrote. ‘Californians came during COVID and ran up the prices. The greater Nashville area is a little California now. Nashville isn’t Nashville anymore!’

Many newcomers were lured to the area with low home prices during COVID, while others came recently due to new job opportunities. Compared to areas like New York City and San Francisco, Nashville also has a lower cost of living.

St. Pete’s First Friday Celebrations May See Their Final Curtain Call

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A beloved tradition in St. Petersburg may soon come to an end. This Good Friday could mark the last of the city’s cherished First Friday events, a prospect that many attendees find hard to believe.

One local expressed disbelief, saying, “It’s not happening. And the Rays aren’t leaving downtown St. Pete. You heard it here.” Another attendee shared a similar sentiment, stating, “This is it right here. I love First Friday.”

Over the past two decades, this vibrant block party has not only provided entertainment but has also been a pillar of support for charities and local businesses, fostering community engagement. However, organizers have confided to 8 On Your Side that escalating costs and waning support are casting a shadow over the event’s future prospects.

The block party has supported charities, local businesses, and engaged the community. Organizers told 8 On Your Side rising costs and dwindling support has made their future uncertain.

“That hurts my soul. Like I can’t imagine St. Pete without a First Friday. Like that’s, you know, the most ‘Burger’ thing there is just that’s all come together having a good time,” said Justin Adams.

Adams is a vendor for First Friday. He said the event is a big driver for businesses big and small, and feels something can be done to keep the block party going.

“I think everyone economically is hurting like your average person and just small businesses in general. It’s hard. Our production costs are up with all the craziness that’s going on in the world, but it really shouldn’t be an excuse. Why we can’t come out here and the city can’t make it work as far as investing in the people that are here already,” Adams said.

Take it from the tourists, who said they heard the music from their hotel, saw the crowd, wanted to be a part of it, and said they’d come back for something like this.

“Maybe they can charge to get in because I’m pretty sure people want to keep it going, they wouldn’t mind paying a little fee to keep it going,” said one woman.

But some people heard the news and came to soak up what they could.

8 On Your Side reached out to one of the organizers of First Friday to learn if this was in fact the last time for the event. They said hopefully this will not be the last night, but without sponsors and increasing city bills, they don’t know if they can hang on. The organizer also said they will be sitting down with some bar owners next week to figure out their status, and said city leaders are having a meeting about the billing Monday.

2026 Financial Forecast: Todd Blanche’s Net Worth and Asset Portfolio Unveiled

Todd Blanche, who has been appointed as the Acting Attorney General by President Donald Trump, has a notable financial portfolio that includes a $2.16 million stake in a law firm partnership and a substantial investment in cryptocurrency.

The former defense attorney, now a leading figure in the Justice Department, disclosed his financial assets in July 2025, unveiling the breadth of his economic standing. This appointment comes in the wake of Trump’s decision to dismiss Pam Bondi on April 2, 2026.

How Much Is Todd Blanche Worth in 2026: Full Assets Revealed

Todd Blanche Background: From Prosecutor to Trump Defense Leader

At 51, Blanche embarked on his legal journey as a federal prosecutor in Manhattan’s Southern District. He juggled a paralegal position during the day while pursuing his law degree at Brooklyn Law School by night.

In 2014, Blanche transitioned from public service to the private sector, initially joining WilmerHale and later becoming a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. He left this esteemed firm in 2023 to take on the role of representing Trump in the New York hush money case.

How Todd Blanche Built His Law Firm and Early Wealth

Before entering government, Todd Blanche amassed wealth through white-collar defense work. His client roster included Paul Manafort and later Trump himself.

His most lucrative asset was his partnership interest at Cadwalader, valued at $2.16 million according to his 2025 disclosure. This partnership draw represents his ownership stake in the global law firm he left to join Trump’s defense team.

Exact Assets Revealed in Todd Blanche 2025–2026 Financial Disclosure

Blanche’s July 10, 2025 ethics filing lists the following assets:

Total crypto holdings: Between $159,011 and $485,000.

Trump’s political action committee, Save America, paid Blanche’s firm $9.2 million between April 2023 and December 2024 for legal work.

This sum covered the hush money trial defense and other criminal cases. The payments flowed to his firm before Blanche personally drew his partnership share.

Why Todd Blanche Net Worth Likely Shifts in Government Role

As Deputy Attorney General (and now Acting AG), Blanche earns a government salary of approximately $160,000–$180,000 annually a sharp reduction from Big Law partner income.

He pledged to divest from cryptocurrency holdings before working on crypto-related matters. However, ProPublica reported he still held between $159,000 and $485,000 in digital assets when signing a memo disbanding the DOJ’s crypto enforcement team.

Todd Blanche Clients Before Joining Justice Department

Beyond Trump, Blanche’s client list included:

  • Paul Manafort – Trump’s former campaign chairman.

  • CLS Global FZC – Cryptocurrency firm.

  • HongShan Capital Group – Chinese venture capital firm.

Blanche’s disclosed partnership share places him among the higher-earning members of Trump’s legal orbit.

What Todd Blanche Salary Means for His Future Finances

Taking public service represents a financial sacrifice for Blanche. His government salary is roughly 10–20% of his estimated Big Law earnings.

However, high-profile government service typically leads to lucrative private sector roles afterward. Former attorneys general regularly command $1,000+ per hour at top firms upon leaving office.

Public Reactions to Blanche Appointment and Disclosures

The Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the DOJ Inspector General on January 22, 2026, alleging Blanche violated conflict of interest laws by holding crypto assets while issuing crypto policy.

Blanche transferred his crypto holdings to his children and a grandchild after the disclosure, according to his filing.

The DOJ called suggestions of unethical conduct “baseless and defamatory.”

Key Takeaways on High-Profile Lawyers Entering Public Service

Blanche’s financial profile reveals a pattern common among Trump administration appointees: significant private wealth followed by ethics scrutiny over asset divestment.

His $2.16 million partnership share and $9.2 million in Trump-related payments establish his pre-government net worth. Whether he fully divested from crypto before shaping DOJ policy remains under investigation.

Virginia DA’s Controversial Plea Deal: Illegal Immigrant and Accomplice Receive 5-Year Sentence for Murder

0

In a controversial decision, two men who confessed to murder, including one undocumented immigrant, have each been sentenced to just five years in prison. This outcome is the result of a plea deal brokered by a progressive prosecutor in Virginia.

Maldin Anibal Guzman and Wis Alonso Sorto-Portillo admitted to their involvement in the 2024 group killing of Nicacio Hernandez Gonzalez. The victim was discovered dead with signs of trauma in Fairfax County, according to police reports.

Both individuals entered guilty pleas to second-degree murder by mob. They received 25-year prison sentences, with 20 years suspended, effectively leaving them with five years to serve. This information was obtained by Fox News, and a judge has approved the plea deals.

Steve Descano, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney, managed to secure these guilty pleas. His office argued that the case, which could have led to much longer sentences, was hindered by a lack of crucial physical evidence.

Descano’s office defended the agreement, telling Fox News the deal was “the only way to ensure that the defendants were incarcerated.”

“There was no DNA or any physical evidence at the scene. All witnesses in this case were terrified to come forward or assist with prosecution,” the office said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that Guzman is an unlawfully present Honduran national who entered the U.S. illegally in 2018 and was ordered removed by an immigration judge in 2019.

ICE said it lodged multiple detainers against Guzman between 2022 and 2023, but the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center declined to honor them and released him from custody.

The agency also said Guzman has prior convictions, including burglary and assault, before his arrest in the 2024 killing.

ICE said it has no record of interaction with Sorto-Portillo.

Hernandez Gonzalez was found dead in a wooded area in the 9500 block of Route 29 in Oakton just after 3 p.m. on July 20, 2024, according to Fairfax County police.

Detectives arrested Guzman, 27, and Sorto-Portillo, 45, both listed as having no fixed address, and initially charged them with malicious wounding by mob. A third suspect, Wilmer Adli Guzman, 20, was later arrested in Washington, D.C., police said.

Descano’s office has pursued a reform agenda since he took office in 2020, including ending requests for cash bail and implementing sentencing policies aimed at reducing incarceration, according to his office’s website.

The case comes as Fairfax County has seen multiple homicide cases involving illegal immigrants this year, according to reporting cited by federal officials.

The Department of Homeland Security highlighted the trend on social media, calling on Virginia leaders to change policies they say allow illegal immigrants accused of violent crimes to remain in communities.

The county’s illegal immigrant crime problem has not abated: of four murders this year, three were allegedly committed by illegal immigrants, according to DHS.

“Governor Spanberger must end her sanctuary policies that allow these illegal aliens onto our streets,” the agency wrote.

She has not responded to multiple requests for comment from Fox News.

Is Katie Miller Eyeing a Fox News Anchor Spot? Unpacking Her Ambitious Media Moves

Katie Miller seems to be carving out a niche for herself within the Fox News environment, which leads us to speculate about her potential aspirations for a more permanent role. Katie undoubtedly possesses attributes that could make her an appealing candidate for Fox News. Her presence on the network has become more frequent, and she has embraced the network’s signature style. Notably, Katie has adopted the popular low-maintenance hair extensions favored in MAGA circles, though some might argue they aren’t quite as striking or blonde as those typically seen on Fox News anchors. Her background as a former MAGA staffer and ongoing insider positions her alongside other former Trump administration figures like Kayleigh McEnany and Kellyanne Conway. All things considered, one might suspect that her podcast serves as a strategic portfolio aimed at securing her dream job.

However, despite her insider connections and relevant experience, Katie Miller faces criticism for her relatively modest following. With fewer than 60,000 subscribers at the time of writing, this number is surprisingly low given the high-profile guests featured on her podcast. Some critics suggest this could partly be due to her overshadowing her husband, Stephen Miller, in the “Most Unlikeable MAGA Star” category. Katie brands herself as the exclusive conservative, health-conscious working mom in the podcasting world, but in reality, she is one of many creators in the “womanosphere,” which might explain her limited subscriber base. Moreover, reviews suggest her podcast lacks distinctiveness and excitement, failing to captivate its audience.

Critiques from media outlets like Salon aren’t flattering, describing the show as one that “appears to be lulling viewers to sleep.” The debut episode was deemed underwhelming, with its most notable revelation being Stephen Miller’s affinity for mayonnaise. Similarly, Slate labeled “The Katie Miller Podcast” as “painfully dull,” lacking any impactful moments. They criticized the missed opportunity in having access to key MAGA figures only to engage them with mundane questions. Perhaps this exposure to the network is meant to hone her skills for a potential future as a Fox News host. After all, practice makes perfect.

Katie Miller’s podcast isn’t exactly a smash hit

Katie Miller may have a bunch of high-up contacts and a relevant professional background for Fox News, but as many of her detractors continue to point out, her actual following is on the smaller side. We’re talking under 60,000 subscribers at the time of writing which, considering her guests’ caliber, is surprising — and only part of it seems to stem from the fact that Katie Miller threatens her husband’s “Most Unlikeable MAGA Star” title. Despite proudly positioning herself as the only conservative, health-conscious working mom with a podcast, Katie is actually just one of many “womanosphere” content creators, which may account for her lack of subscribers. Even worse, the general consensus is that on top of not exactly differentiating herself, her show is kind of boring.

Salon wasn’t exactly complimentary, noting that the show, “appears to be lulling viewers to sleep.” They similarly argued that the premiere episode, “was a big nothingburger,” particularly since, “The biggest news that came out of it was that Stephen Miller eats a lot of mayonnaise.” Yikes. Likewise, Slate described “The Katie Miller Podcast” as “Eye-wateringly boring — void of a single revelatory moment.” They also lamented the wasted opportunity of being in such close proximity to some of MAGA’s biggest stars, but choosing instead to, “ask them the most banal questions imaginable.” Perhaps, then, some work is needed before Katie goes full-on Fox News host. Maybe that’s why she’s being brought on to the network so frequently. Practice makes perfect, after all.
