President Donald Trump’s childhood home in New York has sold for nearly $2 million following a million-dollar renovation that revived the long-neglected property, once known for its feral cat problem.

An unidentified buyer purchased the five-bedroom house in Queens’ upscale Jamaica Estates neighborhood for $1.93 million in July. The sale price was disclosed Friday, according to The New York Post.

Trump lived in the Tudor-style residence during his earliest years. His father, developer Fred Trump, built the home in 1940, and the family remained there until Trump was four before relocating to a larger nearby house.

For years, neighbors viewed the property as an eyesore after it stood vacant and appeared to suffer a series of setbacks, including burst pipes and an attempted break-in.

‘It brought down the value of all the homes in the neighborhood,’ Spencer Gale, who has lived on the block for the past 25 years, told The Daily Mail last year.

The house has now received an East Wing-style transformation, with designers describing its updated look as a fresh ‘Manhattan modern’ aesthetic.

The nearly $2 million sale represents a substantial gain for seller Tommy Lin, who bought the property for $835,000 last year — nearly $1.1 million less than its eventual sale price.

When Lin acquired it, the home had been listed for $2.3 million despite being characterized as a wreck, with a leaking roof, an overgrown lawn, flooding, block-wide power outages and a colony of feral cats inside.

Lin, a developer, decided the risk was worth taking, previously revealing to Mansion Global: ‘The only reason I took on this project was because it’s Trump’s childhood house.’

He spent $500,000 and eight grueling months gutting and reviving the interior, outfitting the home with a chef’s kitchen, herringbone wood floors and spa-like bathrooms. 

On Friday, Joe Zhu of RE/MAX Edge told The Post that the home ultimately sold over the summer for $70,000 below its most recent $1.99 million asking price. 

Even after the extensive makeover, the property’s connection to the President remained a major draw for buyers, with some also attracted by the chance to own a piece of history, Zhu said. 

‘There were quite a lot of people interested,’ he told the outlet.

But the roughly 3,100sq ft residence at 85-15 Wareham Place is almost unrecognizable from the rundown property Lin found in 2025, after it had changed hands several times in recent years.

In 2016, shortly after the presidential election, a retired engineer who lived in the home sold it to real estate developer Michael Davis for $1.14 million, according to property records.

The following year, just months after Trump was elected president, Davis flipped the property, selling it to an entity called Trump Birth House LLC for $2.14 million. 

It remains unclear who was actually behind the LLC, which has only been traced to New York-based lawyer Michael X Tang, who signed the paperwork. 

Under the LLC’s ownership, the property was listed on Airbnb for about five months, with some renters described as college-age students and Trump supporters who hosted ‘late-night booze-fueled parties,’ a neighbor told the Daily Mail last year.  

The bizarre Airbnb charged Trump fans up to $725 a night to stay in his childhood home, with the listing claiming it was where the president was conceived.

Inside, guests were greeted by life-sized cardboard cutouts of Trump, copies of his book The Art of the Deal and a framed People magazine cover featuring the president. 

Davis reportedly continued running the business while renting the property from the LLC for $4,000 a month, according to The New York Times.

By mid-2019, Trump Birth House was trying to unload the property, putting it up for auction with Paramount Realty USA for $2.9 million. But the house failed to sell, the outlet reported.

From there, the property sat abandoned for nearly a decade.

Last year, neighbors exclusively told the Daily Mail they had endured years of flooding, power outages, pests and even intruder scares while living beside the President’s childhood home.

A September 2018 heatwave was made even more miserable for neighbors when an electrical fault at the Trump house knocked out their air-conditioning, television and internet. 

In 2020, the auction company behind the property’s 2016 and 2017 sales launched a GoFundMe campaign on behalf of the LLC, dubbed ‘Thank You President Trump.’ 

The apparent goal was to buy the house and hand it over to the President. ‘What happens to the historic property is up to him!’ the campaign description read. 

But the plan went nowhere, as one setback after another continued to trouble the home. 

That same year, a burst pipe in the attic bathroom sent water pouring into nearby homes, a neighbor told the Daily Mail. The damage was so severe that hazardous mold eventually spread from floor to ceiling. 

Another neighbor told the Daily Mail that two men allegedly attempted to break into the property in August 2024, with security footage showing them walking around the home.

The men appeared to try forcing open the front door after failing to get inside through a window, according to neighbors who witnessed the incident. They eventually fled when they could not gain entry.

The attempted break-in left families in the neighborhood, particularly those with young children, feeling unsafe.

One fed-up resident was so frustrated by the state of the property that they created an X account to document its decline and attract a buyer who would actually take care of it.

His account featured photos of notices and citations from the Department of Sanitation, Con Edison and other city agencies plastered across the home’s front door.

Other images showed the front yard swallowed by overgrown grass and weeds, twisted branches and piles of leaves. The neglect became so dire that some neighbors resorted to hiring a landscaper themselves.

The property’s 2025 makeover finally brought its long-running saga to a close. 

One neighbor who spoke to the Daily Mail last year was ecstatic that the home had been renovated and was heading back on the market.

‘I am happy it has been taken from the absolutely disgusting conditions. It looked like an abandoned, haunted home,’ the neighbor said.

‘It didn’t have the appeal it used to have when owners lived in there. It was sad to see it in the condition it was left in. You had animals living there – raccoons and stray cats. The front yard and back yard became a big litter box,’ they added.

‘Although it is not the look of the neighborhood, it is rentable, sellable and in good shape at this point; I am happy with that.’

Another local said the timing was ironic, telling the Daily Mail: ‘Trump’s childhood home is going on the market as he is putting a bulldozer to the East Wing of the White House and removing part of history.’

The home initially returned to the market for $2.3 million before being pulled and later relisted. After another price cut, it was asking just under $2 million when it finally found an unidentified buyer this summer. 

The President, now 80, built his fortune in real estate, putting his name atop Manhattan’s Trump Tower and living there for decades before turning his fame and wealth toward politics. 

Dramatic video captured the moment a teenage boy was rescued after spending days stranded at sea, clinging to his family’s overturned boat in the icy waters off Alaska.

Derek Parker Aghnaanga, 15, was found alone, kneeling on top of the capsized skiff near remote St. Lawrence Island. He had survived without food or water while the vessel drifted across the frigid Bering Sea toward the Russian border.

In the remarkable footage, Aghnaanga, dressed in a bright yellow jacket, can be seen perched on the hull as the Northwest Explorer moves in to help.

Crew members sounded the ship’s horn, then tossed him a line and carefully drew the small overturned vessel toward their boat.

The exhausted teenager was then guided into a rescue basket and lifted aboard to safety.

The extraordinary rescue was soon overshadowed by tragedy when the fishing crew learned what had happened to Aghnaanga’s brother and cousin.

Shivering and speaking through chattering teeth, Aghnaanga told rescuers that his 35-year-old brother, Sidney Kulowiyi, remained beneath the overturned skiff. He also said his 34-year-old cousin, Barton Rookok, had initially held on beside him before slipping away.

The bodies of both men were later recovered.

‘It’s unbelievable. It’s remarkable and it’s cold. The water is 10 degrees Celsius (50F),’ Northwest Explorer captain Adam White told Alaska’s News Source.

Aghnaanga had been fishing for halibut with Kulowiyi and Rookok when their small boat capsized last Saturday night far out at sea.

His mother said Kulowiyi, the boat’s captain, became trapped underneath the vessel and died, while Rookok initially survived alongside the teenager.

Family members said Aghnaanga desperately tried to hold onto the boat after the other two drowned.

His cousin survived for about a day following the capsize before he too drowned, according to Aghnaanga’s mother, leaving the 15-year-old floating alone on the overturned hull on the open ocean.

‘I mean, that’s one tough kid,’ White said.

The ordeal began after the three left Savoonga, a village of roughly 800 people on St. Lawrence Island, last Friday. They had been expected to return by around 3am on Sunday.

But when they failed to come home, Alaska State Troopers alerted the US Coast Guard at around 8.30pm last Sunday night and a desperate search began.

Planes and helicopters scoured the waters before a Coast Guard aircrew finally spotted Aghnaanga at around 10.30am on Monday.

The crew dropped a raft and emergency supplies before contacting the Northwest Explorer, which was nearby carrying a crew of 13 as well as National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists.

‘We saw the unusual object on the horizon,’ White recalled. ‘We blasted our horn a couple times.’

As the vessel drew closer, what had appeared to be an object in the vast expanse of water became something extraordinary: a teenage boy still alive on top of an overturned boat.

The rescue video captures the final moments of Aghnaanga’s fight for survival as the larger vessel edges alongside the skiff and its crew works to bring him aboard.

He was suffering symptoms of hypothermia by the time he reached the Northwest Explorer, according to the Coast Guard.

Crew members wrapped him in blankets, covered him with hot packs and kept him talking as they headed toward Nome, where he could be reunited with family.

Meanwhile, Aghnaanga’s relatives were listening anxiously to radio transmissions from the rescue.

His mother listened as other family members gathered around a speakerphone, according to the boy’s aunt, Collen Walker.

Then came the words they had been praying to hear.

‘We all cried and jumped for joy when the captain announced on the radio, “We found a kid, he’s alive, he’s alive,”‘ Walker said.

But almost immediately, celebration turned to dread.

‘Then we asked, “Where’s the rest of them?”‘

The deaths have devastated a close-knit community where fishing remains both a way of life and an essential source of food.

Aghnaanga regularly went fishing with his older brother and viewed him as a father figure after their own dad died when the boys were younger, Walker said.

Kulowiyi was a commercial fishing captain whom his aunt described as a humble and loving ‘provider for people in the village.’

Halibut fishing is deeply embedded in life in Savoonga, where jobs can be scarce and fishermen routinely share their catches with relatives and neighbors.

‘That’s how we do it in our community. We take care of one another,’ Walker said. ‘We still live a traditional way of life even if the world is changing.’

The Alaska State Troopers formally identified Kulowiyi and Rookok on Thursday.

For White and his crew, the emotional impact of what they had witnessed did not end when Aghnaanga was safely aboard.

They had pulled a 15-year-old from a potentially deadly stretch of ocean after an extraordinary battle for survival – but were also carrying him home to a family mourning two men.

‘When you look into a family member’s eyes… there’s gratitude, but sorrow at the same time,’ White said.

‘I know I became overwhelmed with it so I had to go hide in my room for a minute.’

A GoFundMe has since generated funds to support Aghnaanga and help his grieving family with funeral expenses and everyday costs.

Channel Ten presenter Tayla Meath has died aged 30 following a battle with an aggressive cancer. She died on September 1.

Meath, who starred on The Dog House Australia, was diagnosed in 2024 at the age of 27 with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), an aggressive cancer that develops in glandular tissue.

A GoFundMe page established to help cover her medical costs said her condition worsened in June, when the cancer spread to her liver and increased substantially in size.

‘On Tuesday morning 1st September, Tayla took her last breath surrounded by the people she loved the most,’ the final update on the fundraising page said.

‘Tayla’s family would like to thank every single person who has loved her, supported her, encouraged her, and walked beside them through the hardest chapter of their lives. They are now learning how to live with the unimaginable loss of their girl.

‘Tayla’s journey was long and painful, but she never gave up. She fought every single day. She lived, she loved, she laughed, and she kept pushing forward even when things were incredibly hard.’

The tribute said Meath had left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know her.

‘She will live on through every person she touched, every friendship she made, every laugh she shared, and every life she made brighter simply by being in it,’ it read.

‘Tayla got more time with her friends, her family, her husband, and her beloved [dog] Archie. She made memories, she celebrated milestones, and she continued to live her life on her terms.’

‘Now it’s time to give Tayla the celebration of life she deserves. Her service will be beautiful, just as she wanted, and just as she was.

‘Thank you to everyone who has followed Tayla’s journey, supported her family, shared her story, and contributed towards giving her the farewell she deserves. Your love and generosity have meant more than words can say.’

The GoFundMe account raised more than $36,000 to help Tayla and her family manage her medical and end-of-life expenses. 

In March 2025, some of the funds raised helped Tayla and her partner of 10 years Curtis go on a honeymoon to the Maldives for her first ever trip overseas.  

Tayla’s death was announced publicly on Thursday when a spokesperson for The Dog House Australia shared a heartbreaking message on Instagram. 

‘We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tayla, after a long and incredibly difficult battle with cancer,’ the message read. 

‘Tayla will be remembered for the extraordinary love, kindness and care she showed our four-legged friends through The Dog House Australia, and for the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. 

‘Our hearts go out to her family, friends and all who loved her during this incredibly difficult time.

‘Working with animals wasn’t just a job for Tayla. It was her passion and a huge part of who she was. 

‘She loved being able to help give dogs the second chance they deserved and to play a small part in finding them their forever homes.’

According to Cancer Council Australia, ACC – which usually affects the head and neck – develops slowly and may not present any symptoms, often being diagnosed as a single tumour.

Tayla suffered from throat issues for years due to the cancer, resulting in the removal of a portion of her vocal cord and voice box.  

She is best known as the beloved star of The Dog House Australia, which is a ‘dog dating show’ where people are matched with the perfect dog for their family at the Animal Welfare League’s Kemps Creek Shelter.

Tayla is survived by her husband Curtis and their dog, a three-year-old labrador named Archie.
