In Augusta, Georgia, Rory McIlroy etched his name into the annals of Masters history on Sunday, becoming only the fourth golfer to claim consecutive victories at Augusta National. McIlroy distinguished himself with remarkable birdies around the iconic Amen Corner and added a touch of suspense toward the end to secure his place among the tournament’s elite.

The final round was a tightly contested affair, with three players holding a two-shot lead at various points. However, McIlroy took decisive control with a daring shot over Rae’s Creek on the par-3 12th, landing just 7 feet from the hole for a birdie. He followed this with a powerful 350-yard drive on the par-5 13th, setting up another birdie to extend his advantage to three strokes.

Although McIlroy faced a few tense moments, including a challenging shot at the 16th that required skillful use of the slope to secure par, and a wayward drive on the 18th that veered toward the 10th fairway, he managed to maintain his composure. A bogey on the final hole concluded his round at 1-under 71, earning him a one-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler.

Cameron Young lost his two-shot lead much earlier with a long three-putt bogey on the par-3 sixth and taking bogey on the next hole when he hit wedge from the fairway into a bunker. One shot behind going to the back nine, Young closed with nine straight pars.

As for Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 player was in position to shatter the Masters record with the largest 36-hole comeback in history. He was 12 behind going into the weekend. He was two shots behind as he approached the turn. But he ran off 11 straight pars – that wasn’t going to cut it during a final round with accessible pins to create excitement.

Scheffler had to settle for his third runner-up finish in the majors to go along with four titles. His 65-68 weekend made him the first player since 1942 to go bogey-free on the weekend at Augusta.

“I put up a good fight in order to give myself a chance,” Scheffler said.

Rose, at age 45, trying to become the second-oldest Masters champion behind Jack Nicklaus (46) in 1986, made it feel as though this was going to be his time. He made a most improbable birdie with a shot out of the trees to a foot on the seventh. That was the start of three straight birdies to close out the front nine and give him the lead.

But his approach to the 11th was well to the right, and he failed to save par. His tee shot on the 12th was long, and his delicate chip didn’t reach the green, leading to another bogey. And then his 30-foot eagle putt on the par-5 13th ran 8 feet by the hole, and he missed the birdie putt.

“Chance that got away,” Rose said. “I was by no means free and clear and was nowhere kind of close to having the job done, but I was right in position. … I was really in control. And the mentality was to run through the finish line, not just try and get it done.

“I was playing great, but just momentum shifted for me around the Amen Corner.”

At the end, it was a now familiar champion, McIlroy, once tormented by his chase for the green jacket and now a two-time winner whose love for the Masters only deepens.

He was so ecstatic a year ago that he asked the media when it was over, “What are we going to talk about next year?” Now the topic is easy. No one has ever won three in a row.

After a prolonged strike, employees at one of the country’s largest meatpacking facilities have successfully negotiated a deal with JBS USA, as announced by the company and union officials on Sunday.

Operations at the Swift Beef Co. plant in Greeley, Colorado, are set to resume immediately following a period of disruption, JBS USA confirmed in a statement.

The agreement was reached following a three-week strike involving thousands of workers. These employees, represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 Union, halted work to demand better pay and improved health care benefits. The strike concluded on April 4 when JBS USA agreed to return to the bargaining table.

Under the new agreement, employees will receive wage increases over the next two years, along with a one-time bonus of $750. The union described the tentative deal as a contract that includes “all gains, countless improvements, and not a single concession.”

The contract stipulates that the company will cover the cost of personal protective equipment and will not increase health care costs for workers, according to union representatives.

Local union president Kim Cordova said workers picketed through extreme weather “because they knew their worth and refused to be disrespected. Today, that sacrifice has been rewarded.”

“This is what union power looks like,” Cordova said in the statement.

JBS USA said it is pleased an agreement has been reached, but expressed disappointment that union leadership chose to eliminate pension benefits that were negotiated last year. The company said the pension was designed to strengthen long-term retirement security and argued the union chose to shift those dollars into short-term wage increases rather than into the long-term financial future of workers.

The union will also withdraw seven alleged unfair labor practice charges, according to JBS USA.

“With the agreement now finalized, JBS USA looks forward to restoring stability, supporting its workforce, and continuing to invest in the Greeley facility for the future,” the company said in its statement.

The strike at Greeley was the first strike at a U.S. slaughterhouse since workers walked out at a Hormel plant in Minnesota in 1985. That strike lasted more than a year and was marked by violent confrontations between police and protesters.

JBS is the world’s largest meatpacking company with a market capitalization of $17 billion. It is the top employer in Greeley, a city 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Denver with a population of about 114,000 people.

Rory McIlroy was filled with emotion as he clinched consecutive Masters victories, this time with his parents by his side.

Gerry and Rosie McIlroy missed last year’s event at Augusta, where Rory ended his long quest for a green jacket and completed the career grand slam.

‘Some people probably thought it was outlandish to dream the things that I wanted to do. but I had amazing support from back home, and can’t thank them all enough for that continued support.’

He added: ‘My mum and dad – they weren’t here last year to celebrate with us and surprisingly I had to convince them to come this year because they thought the reason I won was because they weren’t here… I’m glad we proved that wrong, so they can keep coming as long as they want.’

McIlroy has now won six majors but this was only the second time his mother witnessed it in person. Twelve years ago, she was at Hoylake for his Open Championship triumph. 

‘There was a piece of them that didn’t want to come this year because they thought, okay, we didn’t come last year; maybe that was the reason,’ he said.

‘I caught myself on the golf course a couple of times thinking about them, and I was like: “No, not yet, not yet.” It’s really cool to have them here.

‘They missed it last year, and the first thing I wanted to do was fly home to see them because I obviously wouldn’t be sitting up here if it wasn’t for them… it’s amazing to have them here. I’m excited to celebrate with them tonight.’

The Northern Irishman said he ‘owes everything’ to his parents. ‘You are the most wonderful parents and if I can be half the parent to Poppy that you’ve been to me then I know I’ve done a good job,’ he said.

After holing the winning putt, McIlroy was greeted by his wife, Erica Stoll, and his five-year-old daughter, Poppy.

In a heartwarming, emotional moment, the back-to-back Masters champion hugged his daughter by the 18th green. A few minutes later, he thanked both Poppy and Erica for their support.

‘They have to put up with me at home and – trust me – at times, that’s a tough thing to do,’ McIlroy said.

A delay in the burial of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, indicates a mounting crisis within the Islamic Republic, as noted by a well-known Iranian strategist.

These insights from Dr. Ramesh Sepehrrad coincide with stalled peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, alongside growing internal tensions that cast doubt on the regime’s stability.

Iran initiated the fortieth-day mourning ceremonies for Khamenei on April 9, yet his burial remains pending over 40 days following his death. Initially, a three-day state funeral was planned for early March 2026, but it has since been postponed.

“Forty-four days have passed, and the regime does not have the confidence to publicly bury Mojtaba’s dead father,” Sepehrrad of the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) told Fox News Digital.

“That is an indicator of the fear within this regime from top to bottom,” Sepehrrad added, before describing how, usually, “a religious regime believes that their dead must be buried in 24 hours.”

Khamenei was killed Feb. 28 in a strike targeting a regime compound in central Tehran, with a separate strike affecting his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, who succeeded him.

Mojtaba is said to be still recovering from severe facial and leg injuries, three people close to his inner circle told Reuters on April 11.

Khamenei’s face was disfigured in the attack on the supreme leader’s compound in central Tehran, and he suffered a significant injury to one or both legs, three sources told the outlet.

“The 56-year-old is nonetheless recovering from his wounds and remains mentally sharp, according to the people, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.”

He is taking part in meetings with senior officials via audio conferencing and is engaged in decision-making on major issues, including the war and negotiations with Washington, two of the sources say, according to reports.

The report came as Iran navigated diplomatic efforts with the U.S. in Islamabad aimed at easing tensions amid a two-week ceasefire, which ultimately failed to produce a breakthrough.

“Mojtaba input in the broad red lines of negotiations, even if he is not the public face,” Sepehrrad claimed. “At the end of the day, for more than 10 years, he served as his father’s right-hand man and as a conduit to the IRGC.”

“Mojtaba may be less rhetorical, less publicly ideological, and more operational because his primary focus is survival of the regime.”

Iran also confirmed Sunday it had no plans for further peace talks after the marathon summit, where Pakistan mediated.

“No plan has yet been announced for the time, place, or next round of negotiations,” Iranian state news agency Nour reported Saturday, citing the country’s Supreme National Security Council, with no statement from the new Supreme Leader.

“Mojtaba is less the supreme leader in the traditional sense and more the coordinator of a security-led system,” Sepehrrad explained before describing him as “more like a security-backed coordinator.”

“This regime does not communicate with one unified voice. It communicates by function,” Sepehrrad said.

“One channel negotiates, another threatens, another punishes, and another tries to maintain ideological continuity. It is now a mafia,” the strategist claimed.

“The key point is not harmony but division of labor. What holds them together is regime survival, not trust.”

“What we are seeing now is deeper: a leader who lacks organic authority and therefore governs through the institution that controls force,” Sepehrrad said.

On the Iranian side, negotiations, the analyst said, also did involve “diplomats,” but a wider circle of security-linked figures shaping Tehran’s posture, reflecting the increasing dominance of hardline institutions.

“This was a brittle coalition of security men,” Sepehrrad said, before describing how Mojtaba is “at the top, but is heavily reliant on the Guards, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, SNSC chief Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi, Judiciary chief Mohseni-Ejei, and law enforcement chief Ahmad-Reza Radan.”

“Several of the most important surviving figures are not primarily diplomats,” Sepehrrad said before suggesting that that should “change how we should read everything coming out of Tehran.”

“That is a different system from the one many Western analysts still think they are dealing with,” Sepehrrad explained. “Dual track — tactical flexibility in talks and a harsher repression at home.”

“While the regime negotiates to buy time, reduce pressure on its forces, and prevent broader external escalation, internally, it is likely to intensify arrests, executions, intimidation, and internet controls now,” the strategist warned.

“The regime fears internal unrest more than diplomacy,” Sepehrrad said.
