Terry Tateossian, a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Coach and Trainer specializing in nutrition for women over 40 at THOR – The House of Rose, suggests five chair exercises that are more effective at reducing an apron belly than traditional crunches, especially for those over 50.

“Crunches can often exert undue stress on the lower back and neck, ultimately proving counterproductive for some individuals,” Tateossian explains. “That’s why, from a Certified Personal Trainer’s perspective, I often refrain from recommending them. Many people perform crunches incorrectly, pulling on their neck and head rather than engaging their abdominal muscles.” She continues, “In my view, there’s no such thing as a ‘bad’ exercise since any form of movement promotes well-being, burns calories, and strengthens muscles. However, to truly tackle belly fat, a solid nutritional strategy combined with general movement and strength training is indispensable. There are also alternative exercises that target the lower abs more effectively than crunches.”

“Overall, crunches can also put pressure on the lower back and neck for some people and can become counterproductive. This is one of the main reasons I hold back on prescribing them to clients from a CPT perspective. Also, many people do them correctly where they tend to pull on their neck and head to perform the crunch rather than using their ab muscles,” explains Tateossian. “In my opinion, however, there really isn’t a ‘bad’ exercise out there as any movement promotes a sense of wellbeing, burns calories and uses your muscles. The one thing that will DEFINITIVELY help address the belly is a good nutritional approach paired with general movement and strength development. That said, there are other alternatives that can target the lower abs better than crunches.”

Below, Tateossian shares five of her favorite chair exercises that can help shrink belly fat quicker than crunches after 50.

“Reformer” Seated Knee Tucks

  1. Begin sitting tall on a sturdy chair.
  2. Lift one knee up toward your chest.
  3. Slowly lower for a count of 3.
  4. Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps on each side, sticking to a 3010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Straight Leg Lifts

  1. Begin sitting tall with your back supported against the chair.
  2. Place your feet flat on the floor.
  3. Hold the sides of the chair for added stability.
  4. Straighten your left leg out in front of you until your knee is completely extended. For max quad engagement, keep your toes flexed toward your shin the entire time.
  5. Hold for 2 seconds at the top before lowering.
  6. Repeat on the other side.
  7. Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps on each side, sticking to a 3010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.

Seated Cross-Body Crunch

  1. Begin seated with your hands behind your head and your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Bring your left knee up while rotating your right elbow toward it.
  3. Return to the start position.
  4. Switch sides.
  5. Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps on each side, sticking to a 3010 tempo and resting for 60 seconds between sets.
  6. Progress by holding onto a Pilates ball.

Minnesota Hospital Reinstates Gender-Affirming Treatment for Minors Amid Renewed Healthcare Policies

On Monday, a Minnesota hospital announced its decision to resume offering gender transition medications to minors, reversing a previous pause attributed to federal pressure.

Children’s Minnesota had halted the prescription of these medications in February, following a directive from the Trump administration. This action was in response to a proposed rule by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in December, which aimed to restrict hospitals from administering gender-affirming drugs and surgeries to minors as a condition for participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs.

The hospital is reinstating its “Gender Health Program” following a federal court’s decision to overturn the HHS directive, according to a report by CBS News.

“Providing science- and research-based healthcare to transgender and gender-diverse youth aligns with Children’s Minnesota’s commitment to being an essential partner in fostering healthier children for every family,” the hospital stated.

Additionally, Children’s Minnesota plans to reach out to families affected by the temporary suspension to update them on the program’s resumption.

When initially announcing the pause, Children’s Minnesota said its “Gender Health” remained open to “continue to provide supportive care, mental health services and guidance regarding medical and non-medical treatment options.” The hospital called the pause a “difficult decision” and claimed that “gender affirming care” is “evidence-based and lifesaving for transgender and gender diverse youth.”

HHS said in its December announcement that “sex-rejecting procedures on children,” such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries, “expose them to irreversible damage, including infertility, impaired sexual function, diminished bone density, altered brain development, and other irreversible physiological effects.”

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said at the time that “doctors assume a solemn obligation to protect children.”

“Doctors across the country now provide needless and irreversible sex-rejecting procedures that violate their sacred Hippocratic oath, endangering the very lives that they are sworn to safeguard,” he said during the announcement.

“The American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, peddled a lie that chemical and surgical sex-rejecting procedures could be good for children who suffer from gender dysphoria,” he added, further accusing them of betraying “the estimated 300,000 American youth ages 13 to 17 conditioned to believe that sex can be changed.”

HHS has initiated investigations into hospitals across the country for allegedly providing sex-change drugs, and sometimes surgeries, to minors.

In January, HHS General Counsel Mike Stuart referred Children’s Minnesota and several other hospitals for federal investigation. Children’s Minnesota says on its website that it does not perform sex-change surgeries on minors.

The Trump administration’s crackdown on hospitals providing mutilating sex-change drugs and surgeries to minors is a stark departure from the Biden administration, which aggressively pushed sex changes for confused youth and used all levers of government to force broad compliance.

Ex-Fort Bragg Employee Faces Charges for Allegedly Leaking Classified Military Secrets to Journalist

A former employee of Fort Bragg, who once held top-secret clearance, is facing allegations of leaking classified military strategies to a journalist. According to a federal complaint, she reportedly confessed to her mother that this leak could potentially lead to her arrest for disclosing sensitive military operations.

Courtney P. Williams, aged 40, is an Army veteran who served with a Special Military Unit at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. On Tuesday, the FBI arrested her on charges of unlawfully sharing national defense information. Federal prosecutors claim she transmitted classified tactical details, used in covert missions, to an investigative reporter over several years.

The complaint reveals that Williams had access to highly classified information due to her Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. This included detailed knowledge of tactics, techniques, and procedures—commonly referred to as TTPs—employed by elite military forces.

The Department of Justice stated in a Wednesday news release that Williams allegedly violated 18 U.S.C. § 793(d) by sharing sensitive information.

Investigators allege that from 2022 to 2025, Williams engaged in extensive communication with a journalist. This included phone conversations lasting several hours and approximately 180 text messages. She also allegedly sent documents and materials that were eventually published in an article and a book, with the journalist identifying her as the source.

FBI Director Kash Patel took to X on Wednesday after the arrest, saying the Bureau “will not tolerate” leakers of classified intel.

“Let this serve as a message to any would-be leakers: we’re working these cases, and we’re making arrests,” Patel wrote. “This FBI will not tolerate those who seek to betray our country and put Americans in harm’s way.”

The Associated Press reported that while the journalist is not named in the court filings, “dates and details match” both an article and book written by Seth Harp about the Army’s Delta Force.

An excerpt from Harp’s book, “The Fort Bragg Cartel” was published in Politico’s magazine last August under the title, “My Life Became a Living Hell: One Woman’s Career in Delta Force, the Army’s Most Elite Unit,” featuring Williams’ testimonials alleging sexual harassment while serving.

Harp released a statement to WRAL-TV about Williams, calling her a “brave whistleblower and truth-teller,” despite reported reservations she shared with the journalist after the book was published.

“Former Delta Force operators disclose `national defense information’ on podcasts and YouTube shows every day, but the government is going after Courtney for the sole reason that she exposed sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the unit. This is a vindictive act of retaliation, plain and simple,” Harp’s statement read.

The published materials, according to the government, contained classified information at the “SECRET” level with “NOFORN” restrictions, meaning it was not authorized for release to foreign nationals — raising concerns it could be accessed by U.S. adversaries.

“Clearance holders accept a solemn obligation to protect the classified information entrusted to them,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said in a DOJ release. “That they do so is critical to the security of our Nation. When clearance holders violate that trust, the National Security Division will act swiftly to hold them accountable.”

Evidence outlined in the complaint includes messages indicating Williams mailed a thumb drive containing materials to the journalist, as well as files saved on her computer labeled “Batch 1 for Reporter” and similar titles, suggesting an organized effort to provide information.

On the day the article and book were published, Williams allegedly texted the journalist expressing concern about the scope of the disclosure, writing that she was troubled by “the amount of classified information being disclosed” and that it felt like “an entire TTP was sent out in my name.”

In a separate conversation with her mother, Williams allegedly acknowledged the legal risk more directly.

“I might actually get arrested, and I don’t even get a free copy of the book,” she wrote, adding the legal basis as “for disclosing classified information.”

Authorities say Williams had signed multiple non-disclosure agreements during her time working with the military unit and was explicitly warned that unauthorized disclosure of classified material could violate federal law.

The complaint also notes that the leaked information could pose serious risks, including exposing military personnel to danger and compromising operations if adversaries studied the disclosed tactics.

“The tradecraft, tactics, and techniques used by the U.S. military unit in this case are classified and should be shared only with those with proper clearances and a need to know in order to protect American lives and safeguard classified National Defense information,” said Reid Davis, the FBI Special Agent in Charge in North Carolina.

“These are serious accusations. Anyone divulging information they vowed to protect to a reporter for publication is reckless, self-serving and damages our nation’s security.”

Authorities say Williams had signed multiple non-disclosure agreements and was warned that releasing classified material could violate federal law.

The FBI Charlotte Field Office is investigating the case, with “valuable assistance” provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of North Carolina.

Authorities in Kentucky report that a man is facing charges after allegedly attacking a stranger on the street with a cleaver, motivated by the victim’s perceived foreign background.

The Louisville Metro Police Department has charged 30-year-old Jeremiah Page with attempted murder and first-degree assault. He appeared in court on Tuesday to face the allegations, according to information shared with Law&Crime.

The incident unfolded on Monday around 5:30 p.m. on the 7300 block of Preston Highway in Louisville. Local CBS affiliate WLKY reported that Page, armed with a “cleaver-knife,” approached a man and allegedly attacked him, striking him twice on the head and once on the shoulder.

Following the attack, Page reportedly fled the scene. Witnesses and video footage captured the violent encounter, which helped police piece together the events. Despite not speaking English, the victim was able to communicate with officers about the incident before being taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of Wednesday, police have confirmed that the victim remains alive, although they have not provided further updates on his condition.

Responding officers are said to have found Page nearby — still armed with the cleaver. According to the court document, they read him his Miranda rights, and he confessed to the attack.

When asked why he did it, Page told investigators that the man was “trespassing on his land” and that he tried to kill him “because he was a foreigner,” area ABC affiliate WHAS reported. The suspect allegedly also claimed that he “owned all of Louisville.”

During his appearance in court on Tuesday, the defendant’s bond was set at $750,000. He is due back in court on April 17.

The man sustained severe head injuries after reportedly being struck with a hammer and is currently fighting for his life.

She was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will front court today after being refused bail.

Despite this, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not disclosed any progress in the case.

Her break began immediately after the unsettling news of her mother’s disappearance in Arizona, prompting her to travel from New York to Arizona on the same day. During her absence, Guthrie not only took a step back from her hosting responsibilities but also chose to forgo her scheduled coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Shortly after Guthrie’s return to Today, TMZ received a note from an anonymous source claiming to still have information that could lead to Guthrie. The author has written the outlet twice before, both times in February. In those notes, they provided a Bitcoin wallet address and asked for 1 coin in exchange for their information. The latest note demands the same amount, roughly $70,000 USD, and claims to have seen the elder Guthrie with her captors in Mexico.

The anonymous alleged tipster is not pleased with the FBI, calling out the agency in the latest note to TMZ. According to the outlet, the author claims that the agency’s “arrogance” won’t allow them to take their help. The author insists they are legitimate and have information that will directly lead to the abductors; still, the agency and the Guthrie family aren’t interested in depositing a bitcoin into the account they created back in February.  There are, however, several established reward avenues the tipster could pursue if they are so inclined.

Where does the investigation stand?

Nancy Guthrie’s February 1 disappearance led to a massive response from both the Pima County Sherrif’s Office as well as the FBI. Regular press conferences proved that a ton of manpower had been thrown at finding the missing octogenarian. Within weeks, investigators had what they believed might be DNA evidence. Footage of a masked man at Guthrie’s door was also retrieved from her doorbell camera.

From there, though, the trail went cold. While investigators are still hard at work trying to figure out who abducted the elderly resident, there have been few new leads in recent weeks. In fact, there has been so little movement that the department is being harshly criticized. Sherrif Chris Nanos has taken the brunt of that criticism, but has been defending his staff since.  In short, it appears the department is no closer to locating Guthrie than they were weeks ago.

A school bus driver in Florida is facing over 20 charges of child neglect after allegedly ignoring warning signals and crossing in front of an approaching train.

The driver, 67-year-old Yvonne Hampton, was transporting approximately 30 children and two adults when the bus was struck by a train on Thursday, according to local authorities.

Heart-stopping footage captured the chaotic scene as the bus, filled with students, came dangerously close to the tracks while the train rushed by. The video was filled with the sounds of students screaming in terror.

One child could be heard shouting in disbelief, “What the f*** is wrong with you?” as emotions ran high on the bus.

Amid the chaos, some students were heard checking on their peers’ safety, while others were in tears as the train roared past.

No injuries were reported among the students and staff, the school district confirmed in a statement. 

The Sumter County Sheriff’s office responded to the harrowing scene that unfolded at Central Avenue and N Market Street in Bushnell.

Hampton, who has worked in the district for over a decade, drove over the railroad crossing after the warning lights flashed and the guardrails lowered, according to the arrest report obtained by WESH2.

Shocking video and audio reviewed by police reportedly capture a voice believed to be Hampton’s, saying, ‘not gonna stop for no train.’ 

The 67-year-old later told detectives that she was already driving over the crossing when the warning lights kicked on. But video evidence showed otherwise, per the report. 

Hampton faces 29 child neglect charges, with her bond set at $30,000. 

‘I want to reiterate just how fortunate we are,’ Sumter County District School superintendent Logan Brown said to FOX35. 

‘When you look at the totality of this situation, we truly averted what could have been a catastrophic event.’

Brown added that ‘it was a matter of six inches,’ and the outcome could have been ‘extremely catastrophic.’

‘I also hurt for the kids because this is something they’ll remember forever,’ Brown told the outlet.

Further investigation revealed a chilling sequence of events: a Ford Mustang had aggressively pursued a Toyota Tundra through the streets, culminating in a drive-by style shooting. The suspect, believed to have been an occupant of the Mustang, unleashed multiple shots during the chase, according to police reports.

Police say that through their investigation, it was determined that the driver of a Ford Mustang had been pursuing the driver of a Toyota Tundra before an occupant of the Mustang fired multiple rounds in a “drive-by style shooting.” 

Through their investigation, police identified 23-year-old Jamal Waters as the shooter. He was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder while armed with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a person under 24 with a prior qualifying delinquency.

“This type of targeted violence will not be tolerated in our community,” Police Chief Gerald Butler said. “Our officers and detectives acted quickly to identify those responsible and ensure they are held accountable. We remain committed to protecting our citizens and addressing violent crime aggressively.”

Lynette Hooker’s mother, Darlene Hamlett, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that she wants to hear more from her son-in-law about how her daughter disappeared. The couple had been married for more than two decades and lived in Onsted, Michigan.

“Our family grew up on water, and so Lynette her whole life has been near lakes, on boats, sailing and swimming,” Hamlett said. “It would be a miracle if (she’s rescued), but I’m still counting on one.”

Lynette Hooker’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, told NBC News that it is unlikely her mother would “just fall” off the boat, saying she was an experienced sailor. The couple had been sailing for years and documented their voyages on social media under the moniker, “The Sailing Hookers.”

Aylesworth also told NBC that the couple’s relationship was volatile, and that they have a “history of not getting along, especially when they drink.”

She told WXYZ-TV she doubted her mother survived and was able to tread water that long, but hoped to find her to get closure.

On Wednesday morning, Brian Hooker wrote on Facebook that he is “heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas.”

“Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart,” he wrote. “We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus.”

The U.S. Coast Guard has also joined the investigation and interviewed Aylesworth on Wednesday, according to her attorney, Ron Marienfeld.

“We are pleased to see it is being investigated, and hopefully more answers will come to give the family some closure,” Marienfeld said via email.

Bahamian police said search operations and investigative efforts remain active.
