A missile assault orchestrated by Iran hit Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on Friday, resulting in injuries to 10 U.S. service members, as reported by various media outlets. This attack is part of a broader context of escalating tensions in the region, following a series of military exchanges.

Efforts to reach out to the Defense Department for further comments are ongoing, as the situation continues to develop. This latest strike is the second successful offensive on this particular base within the span of a month, symbolizing Iran’s retaliatory actions in the face of a joint U.S.-Israeli operation.

The conflict, known as “Operation Epic Fury,” has already claimed lives and caused numerous injuries. Most notably, a previous attack on March 1 resulted in the death of 26-year-old Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington. Tragically, he is among the 13 service members who have perished since the operation began. Six of these fatalities occurred in an office space in Kuwait, while another six resulted from a refueling plane crash.

According to U.S. Central Command (Centcom), over 300 service members have sustained injuries throughout this conflict. As of Friday, 10 remain in serious condition, while 273 have been able to resume their duties.

As the conflict enters its fifth week, both the U.S. and Iran have put forward ceasefire proposals. However, negotiations appear fraught with challenges. Iran has already publicly dismissed the U.S.’s 15-point peace plan, opting instead for a counterproposal. This Iranian offer advocates for control over the Strait of Hormuz, cessation of hostilities, and an end to attacks on government officials. Meanwhile, U.S. officials indicate that Iran has yet to formally respond to the U.S. proposal relayed through Pakistani mediators.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday told foreign ministers of the Group of Seven nations in France that the conflict would end in two to four weeks, Axios reported. He previously said “progress has been made” in talks with Iran.

“There’s a growing amount of energy that’s been flowing through the straits. Not as much as should be flowing, but some of it has picked up,” Rubio told reporters Thursday. “So again, there’s been some progress in regards to the exchange of messages, but that’s an ongoing and fluid process, and not one we’re going to negotiate or talk about in the media.”

President Trump has said the war will end soon, while at the same time ramping up U.S. troops in the region. The Pentagon has deployed 2,500 Marines and 2,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne in the past week and is reportedly considering sending another 10,000 troops to the region.

The landscape of American shopping centers continues to evolve, with a cherished Texas mall facing demolition, reflecting a broader trend. The Shops at Willow Bend, a staple in Plano since its opening in 2001, is nearing the end of its era. The mall, once a bustling hub for local shoppers, is slated for demolition in the coming year due to a series of closures among its anchor stores.

In 2021, the expansive 1.4 million square foot property, spread over 90 acres, was acquired by Centennial and Cawley Partners. Their vision for this prime piece of real estate involves a grand redevelopment plan that could transform the area.

As rumors circulate, speculation has emerged that the site might serve as a new home for the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars, igniting excitement among sports fans. Yet, this is just one of several possibilities being considered for the site’s future.

Other potential developments include creating an entertainment complex, constructing hotels, and developing residential and office spaces, all of which could invigorate the area with a fresh purpose and vitality.

‘Everybody is having this big debate if the Stars are coming or if they’re not. Whether the Stars come or not, this is going to be a fabulous redevelopment,’ Cawley Partners CEO Bill Cawley told the Dallas Morning News. 

‘We are giddy to redevelop the site. This is going to be the best mixed-use site available in North Texas.’ 

But the tentative plans have sparked fury among locals who say a massive entertainment complex is ‘incompatible’ with their area.

Julia Horne, who built a house nearby, said it would be a ‘disaster’ for her neighborhood if the city chose to bring in the Stars. 

‘I’m worried about not only our investment value, but also just quality of life,’ she said. ‘Our quality of life could just be ruined by this.’ 

Others have brought up concerns about traffic and parking since Plano has no widely available public transit. 

Construction on the highly anticipated project could take years, leading to heavy noise pollution and eyesores. 

‘Please don’t bring more traffic into our beautiful city,’ said one resident on Reddit.  

‘That’s close to some really nice neighborhoods. I bet they get a lot of pushback over noise and traffic issues,’ another added.

‘There’s no public transportation plan if the Stars play there,’ a third chimed in.

Though city officials have cited ‘earnest conversations’ with the Stars about a potential move, the organization itself has not publicly announced its next steps one way or another. 

Some say a move to Plano, while exciting for the city, could be a ‘black eye for Dallas.’

The Stars have been playing in Dallas for more than 30 years since moving from Minnesota in 1993. 

The hockey team’s contract with American Airlines Center will expire in 2031, leaving fans wondering what their next location could be. 

Cawley and Levin have not disclosed whether an arena may be part of their redevelopment plans for The Bend, the name of the ambiguous project which was approved by the Plano City Council last year.

Other potential uses could see the introduction of an 800,000 square foot restaurant and entertainment space or more than 900 residential units, hotels and office buildings.

A spokesperson for Centennial told the Daily Mail that demolition was always part of its redevelopment strategy. 

Select garages, restaurants and shops will remain operational throughout the property’s upheaval.

‘Retail and residential are going to lead the day. We could be building residential today,’ Levin said. 

‘The demand is there for it, but we need to demolish the mall, so we are doing this the best way.

‘The only thing that does not work well on the site is the mall that’s sitting on it.’ 

Plans for Willow Bend have pivoted multiple times after Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Dillard’s shuttered their doors in the past two years. 

The mall originally opened in August 2001, but the space has never been able to reach its full potential.

In New Jersey, the near-vacant Raritan Mall is on the brink of being closed and transformed into a five-story apartment complex.

While in California, the iconic San Francisco Centre finally shut its doors in January after years of decline. 

Malls across the country have been transformed into warehouses and government offices.

Whether it’s a new arena or a slew of apartments, experts like realtor Steve Triolet agree that something needs to change in Plano.

‘They need to do something else with the site, because it’s obviously not working as it currently is,’ he said.

The Daily Mail contacted the Cawley Group, the Stars and the Shops at Willow Bend for comment. 

A Florida man, previously accused of attempting to drown his former girlfriend, a star from “90 Day Fiancé,” during a wild boat gathering in South Florida, has been cleared of all charges. This decision marks the conclusion of a legal saga that spanned nearly four years.

Cole Goldberg faced serious allegations, including attempted second-degree murder, domestic battery by strangulation, and simple battery. However, following a bench trial in Palm Beach County, he was found not guilty on March 12. The charges stemmed from a 2022 incident at Boca Bash, a renowned annual boating event held in Lake Boca Raton.

After the verdict, Goldberg spoke about how transformative the moment was for him.

“After enduring nearly four years under these accusations, the court’s decision to find me not guilty on all counts was, of course, a tremendous relief,” Goldberg shared with Fox News Digital. “I am incredibly grateful to my attorneys, my family, and everyone who supported me throughout this ordeal. It was an amazing experience, and now I can finally breathe. It’s a huge relief and a weight lifted from my shoulders.”

Prosecutors alleged that Goldberg attacked his then-girlfriend, Caroline Schwitzky, during an argument aboard a boat at Boca Bash on April 24, 2022. Schwitzky, a Miami talent agent, appeared on “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?” as the agent for cast member Paola Mayfield.

The Boca Bash is an annual alcohol-fueled gathering that draws thousands of boaters each year.

According to investigators and witness accounts, Schwitzky jumped into the water during the dispute and attempted to swim to another vessel. Authorities alleged Goldberg followed her and tried to drown her before a bystander intervened.

But Goldberg argued that the situation was “chaotic” and misinterpreted.

“It was definitely a chaotic situation on the water. I couldn’t swim. I was struggling in the water from the outside. Some people thought they were seeing something and misperceived something more serious than what actually happened. And that perception ultimately led to these kind of charges,” he said.

During his trial, Goldberg testified that he entered the water to reach Schwitzky and help get her back to safety after securing a ride off the boat but quickly began to panic in the current.

“I just felt like I was drowning and thought I was potentially going to die. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced,” he said.

He said that any contact with his then-girlfriend was brief.

“I just touched her shoulder for one to two seconds just to keep my head above water, and this is when I had all these accusations happen. It’s very unfortunate,” he said.

“There was zero intent at all to do any harm, and these accusations were just ridiculous,” he said.

The case ultimately turned on conflicting eyewitness testimony. Goldberg said even witnesses who observed the same incident walked away with different interpretations.

“These eyewitnesses ended up seeing sort of the same thing, but also something different, and perception played a big role in the outcome,” he said.

The judge found the evidence insufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, resulting in acquittal on all counts.

Goldberg said the years between his arrest and trial disrupted career plans.

“This definitely put a pause on my career. I was just graduating from university at the time. I was 23 when things had happened. My plans to go to law school derailed. All my friends were just moving forward while I was dealing with this case and accusations,” he said.

“The whole system is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but it’s sort of reversed in the public eye. With all these headlines and mugshots, people formulate opinions, and I had to deal with those opinions throughout this whole four-year process,” he said.

Now at 27, Goldberg said he plans to pursue a legal career and begin studying for the LSAT.

“I feel like I can resonate with future clients given that I was physically in this position,” he said.

But their fairytale romance came crashing down in October 2024 when Perez, 38, allegedly beat his mistress Linda Campitelli to death in an SUV whose back seats had been pushed down and lined with hospital bed sheets for an apparent tryst. 

Campitelli was also a nurse at Wellington Regional Medical Center and was married to Dr Jon Campitelli, with the couple sharing two children and living in an $884,700 home.  

Perez was quickly identified as a possible suspect in Campitelli’s murder and was called in for questioning just days after her death, a probable cause affidavit showed.

He admitted to being romantically involved with the married nurse, but denied being with her the night she was killed, even though surveillance footage and cell phone data placed him at the scene of the crime.

The infidelity and police investigation apparently took a toll on his marriage, as he and Pola officially separated on December 23, divorce documents since obtained by the Daily Mail have revealed.

Pola filed for divorce in March last year, alleging that their union was ‘irretrievably broken’ and ‘irreconcilable differences exist,’ according to the dissolution of marriage petition obtained by the Daily Mail.

It is unclear if the split was triggered by Campitelli’s death and the subsequent investigation into Perez.  

The divorce seemingly favored Pola, with the court granting her primary custody of their son and ownership of the marital home, the filing stated.

The osteopathic physician, whose annual salary is more than $227,000, was the household breadwinner, financial disclosure statements filed with the court showed.

Her now-ex husband, whose nursing salary brought in around $134,000 annually, was ordered to pay Pola $778 in monthly child support until their son turned 18.

He was also expected to pay 38 percent of the $1400 monthly bill for their son’s ritzy private preschool, the divorce filing said.

Pola was awarded the couple’s Lake Worth home, with the 2,475 square-foot house expected to be their son’s residence.

But the doctor sold the house for $940,000 in July 2025, just three months after her divorce was finalized, property records show.

She sold the home for $300,000 more than what the couple initially paid for the property in 2020, likely using the proceeds for a down payment on her new home – a ritzy $1.2 million mansion in Miami that features four bedrooms, two bathrooms and an in-ground pool.

Perez was arrested on March 10 and charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection to Campitelli’s death.

It is unclear if he has been in contact with Pola or their son since his arrest. He has yet to enter a plea to the charges and remains in custody after a judge denied bond.

His nursing license is still active, according to state health department records.

The mother-of-two, who was married to a doctor called Jon Campitelli, died from blunt force trauma to the head and body, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the Daily Mail. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Perez and Campitelli met while they were both working at Wellington Regional Medical Center and were romantically involved for two years, the filing said.

Police claim that on the night of the killing, Perez met up with Campitelli for a belated birthday celebration. 

Campitelli had told her husband she was going for dinner with friends, according to an arrest affidavit seen by the Daily Mail.

Perez allegedly transformed the back of her husband’s Chevy Tahoe into a love nest, according to the affidavit.

Photos recovered from her phone show how medical sheets were laid down in the back of the SUV and a ‘happy birthday’ table cover was affixed to the ceiling, according to the affidavit, which notes that investigators think the back of the car may have been used for an assignation.

Investigators believe Perez attacked Campitelli inside the Tahoe, drove roughly 18 miles away, and abandoned the SUV. He then dragged her body along the road and fled the scene, the affidavit said. No motive for the killing has been given.

The probable cause affidavit further outlines Campitelli’s alleged unhappiness with Perez about the amount of time he was spending with his wife instead of her.

Campitelli’s remains were found about 50 feet away from the Tahoe, which was still running when deputies arrived on the scene, according to the affidavit.

Detectives identified Perez as a suspect in Campitelli’s murder through a trail of digital clues, including the pair’s WhatsApp messages.

Campitelli and Perez communicated daily through the platform, investigators allege. They often discussed work, familial affairs and made plans for in-person meetings, according to the probable cause affidavit.

In multiple messages, Campitelli detailed her frustration with having to share quality time with Perez’s wife, investigators allege.

The day before her death, Campitelli told Perez that she was feeling ‘a little nervous’ about the special celebration he was planning for her.

‘I love you,’ she messaged. ‘I feel kinda weird. I don’t know what to expect tomorrow. You’ve never done anything like this for me before and I feel a little nervous.’

Perez told her she did not need to worry and claimed he was trying to show that ‘I can be romantic,’ the affidavit stated. He added that his romantic gesture ‘probably wont be as good as what youve (sic) done for me.’

Campitelli then confirmed their meeting time and asked him if he was ‘100% sure this is ok.’ He reassured her it was and said ‘I love you so much.’ She echoed the remark.

The accused killer admitted to having an affair with Campitelli, but told detectives he cancelled their October 28 meeting because ‘his son was sick,’ the court filing said.

Investigators said there were no messages to corroborate his claim, and surveillance camera footage and cell phone GPS data places him at the scene.

Campitelli married her husband Jon in 2016, roughly one year after they met, according to her obituary. They had two daughters together.

She started working as a registered nurse in 2014 and was preparing to begin a new position before she died.

Campitelli’s mother Edina Russo previously told the Daily Mail that she did not know her daughter had been cheating on husband Jon Campitelli at the time of her death.

She claimed Jon ‘adored’ her daughter and that they had been trying to work through the problems in their marriage.

‘I had no idea any of this was going on. She and her husband were in marriage counseling,’ Russo revealed. ‘My daughter was a difficult person to get along with, but her husband adored her.’

Neither Pola nor Perez’s public defender responded to the Daily Mail’s request for comment. The Campitelli family previously declined to speak to us further.
