A neighbor of Nancy Guthrie has shared insights that have added an intriguing layer to her mysterious disappearance. He recounted how his dogs, known for their calm demeanor, unusually woke him during the night on two occasions now being closely examined by investigators. Significantly, one of these nights coincides with the time authorities suspect Nancy was abducted.

Jeff Lamie, who lives a few houses from Guthrie’s Catalina Foothills home, told “Crime Stories with Nancy Grace” that his dogs woke him and wanted to be let outside on Jan. 11 and again in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

Lamie, the neighbor, noted that this disturbance was out of character for his pets. “Being awakened at such an hour by my dogs was definitely not the norm,” he explained. “In fact, it hasn’t occurred again since then.”

The timeline of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance begins on the night of January 31, following her return from a family dinner. Concerns were raised the next day, February 1, when she did not make it to her scheduled church service, prompting a missing person report.

Authorities believe she was taken from her home during the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

Lamie said his dogs woke him a little after 1 a.m. that morning. He took them into the courtyard behind his home and did not hear or see anything unusual at the time.

“But the dogs did rouse and I took them out. There’s an image of me on camera. I didn’t hear nothing or saw nothing, but you know, animals can be, especially dogs can be hypersensitive and we don’t know if there’s a correlation,” Lamie said. “We’ve shared it and whether it helps with timeline or in any way, we hope it is of some value.”

He said he only later realized the possible significance after investigators asked neighbors to review video.

“And human nature, we just filed it away and didn’t really think about this until we were asked to review our video and then had this recollection and saw this correlation, which was very unusual,” he said.

Lamie said that when he later reviewed the video, he noticed one of the dogs appeared to look off into the distance and become briefly focused before moving on.

He said the behavior happened on both Jan. 11 and the night of Jan. 31 into Feb. 1.

His account comes as investigators increasingly focus on Jan. 11, a date Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said may be significant, though its role in the case remains unclear.

“We do believe that something occurred on Jan. 11,” Nanos told KOLD 13 News, while cautioning the information is not definitive.

Authorities have asked residents within roughly a two-mile radius of Guthrie’s Tucson-area home to review surveillance video from Jan. 1 through Feb. 2, with particular attention to Jan. 11.

Nanos has also said investigators are focused on that date for a reason separate from the security footage already released.

Guthrie’s doorbell camera disconnected at 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 1, according to Nanos. Video shows a masked figure wearing long sleeves and gloves with an Ozark Trail backpack who appeared to have a holstered pistol.

The last time Guthrie’s pacemaker synced with her phone was 2:28 a.m., narrowing the window in which investigators believe she was taken.

Still, Nanos has emphasized there is no confirmation the individual seen in released video was at the home on Jan. 11, noting missing timestamps make it difficult to verify.

Lamie’s interview also underscored challenges in the neighborhood.

He said most home surveillance systems capture only front doors, garages and courtyards, not wider views beyond the property lines, and described the area as dense with cactus, rock and brush.

“With the size of the lots and where the cameras are situated, they capture your home and entrance points, but they do not capture much beyond that,” Lamie said.

He also described a utility road and a rough cut-through route behind homes that neighbors say was once used by schoolchildren, adding that navigating the area at night would be difficult.

Lamie said investigators reviewing his system found two cameras marked “offline” during the timeframe in question, and he could not say whether that was meaningful or a coincidence.

He added that his wife recalled noticing a vehicle parked on Guthrie’s street the evening before the disappearance, though she had few details.

Additional dates, including Jan. 24, are also under review as authorities work to build out a fuller timeline.

Despite weeks of investigation, no suspect has been publicly identified. Nanos has said forensic evidence collected inside the home, including DNA, has not produced a clear lead.

Still, authorities say the case remains active.

“We have so much in front of us. And we believe we have good evidence in front of us,” Nanos told KOLD. “Will that dry up? Could I be wrong? Absolutely. Anything is possible, but we’re not giving up.”

Over the weekend, Guthrie’s family issued a renewed plea to the public.

“No detail is too small,” the family said, urging residents to recheck surveillance footage, messages and memories. “Someone knows something.”

The FBI describes the suspect as a man about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build. Investigators have not ruled out that more than one person could be involved.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is also warning about potential scams. In a notice posted Tuesday, the agency said there is no official GoFundMe or fundraising effort tied to the Guthrie investigation, and any claims suggesting otherwise are fraudulent. Authorities urged the public not to send money and to remain vigilant.

A reward of more than $1 million is being offered for information leading to Guthrie’s recovery.

The husband of renowned author Lindy West has launched a passionate tirade against a journalist, labeling them as a ‘bitter, untalented, mean-girl’ following their review of West’s latest book.

In her recently released memoir, “Adult Braces,” which hit the shelves earlier this month, the 44-year-old West reveals startling details about her experiences in a polyamorous relationship.

Within the memoir, West candidly shares how she found herself reluctantly involved in a throuple with her husband, Ahamefule J. Oluo, and his partner, Roya Amirsoleymani.

After the memoir’s release, Scaachi Koul, a writer for Slate, published an in-depth profile and interview featuring West.

In response, Oluo has publicly criticized Koul, accusing her of ‘deliberately distorting the story to suit her own negative narrative’ and ‘intentionally undermining his identity and career.’

Koul published an explosive email that Oluo, 43, sent her after the article came out. 

‘This was such a s**ty thing to do, Scaachi. You intentionally skewed this story to fit your own bitter narrative, you wasted my time and all of our time to write an article that was gonna be the same no matter what we said,’ he wrote. 

‘You absolutely dehumanized me and intentionally diminished my personhood and career.’

‘Roya and I were on a “shared project” in Boston? Or however you worded it? I was performing four shows at the Paramount, and Roya is my producer,’ he scathed.

‘I am a person with a life and a great career and a complicated life and you boiled me down to a “cheater” who was on a school project making a diorama or some s**t because you are mad about your life.

‘You barely wrote about the book, you just wrote a rage bait article specifically designed to direct hate toward me.’

‘You are a s***ty f**king person, you’re a bitter, untalented, mean-girl and you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. You f**king suck,’ he concluded.

West also reached out to Koul to share her displeasure with the article.

‘I feel hurt by this piece. It feels subtly designed to generate exactly the kind of backlash against Ahamefule and, by extension, me,’ she wrote, in part. 

‘It’s hard to weather backlash that’s about someone else, especially when I tried so hard in my book to convey who we are and the complexities of what really happened. Perhaps I failed.’

The Daily Mail reached out to a representative for the family, who declined to comment.

West, a comedian and women’s rights activist, was skyrocketed into the spotlight following the release of her first book, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman, came out in 2016.

The essay collection detailed her marriage to Oluo but did not mention his desire for an open marriage. The book went on to inspire a Hulu series which aired from 2019 to 2021. 

She went on to release three more tomes and launch a successful podcast over the years.

West and Oluo first started dating in 2011 and briefly split later that year but ultimately ended up getting back together. They wed in July 2015.

In her latest book, West admitted that she was resistant to the idea of opening her marriage but that it was becoming fashionable in her liberal circle.

She explained: ‘I’m not politically conservative, but I am reserved. I like tradition, rituals, patterns, feeling like a stitch in a great weave of grandparents and great-grandparents, pairs loving each other in the same format again and again.

‘At the time, being cool about polyamory felt like a growing imperative in progressive circles. It made me defensive, particularly coming from thin people.’

West claimed in the tome that Oluo suggested turning down his request for an open marriage was rooted in colonialism. 

‘He believed that monogamy was, at its root, a system of ownership. I had to admit that perhaps I didn’t feel it as keenly, as a white person,’ she wrote. 

‘I stood at this crossroads: spend the rest of my life without Aham (impossible), or agree to a polyamorous relationship (also impossible).’ 

According to West, Oluo made it clear polyamory was ‘a fundamental part of his ethos’ so the two came to an understanding that they would open their marriage, but that Oluo would only date strangers. 

However, the agreement was allegedly broken while Oluo was touring on the road after he reportedly began seeing someone known to the couple. 

‘She lived in our neighborhood. She was tall and thin and blonde and fun and wild and she knew people that we knew,’ West wrote. ‘She was the exact woman your husband leaves you for when you look like me.’ 

According to West, ‘a lot of bad stuff happened during the months they were entangled’ and described them as ‘the worst months of her life.’

But the blonde woman was not Oluo’s only supposed dalliance. In 2019, Oluo secretly started seeing Amirsoleymani who he is still with today, along with his wife. 

West described how she was initially left reeling over the relationship, but has since come to terms with it and describes how all three live together in their Washington state home as a throuple. 

The trio publicly announced that they were in a throuple in 2022 through an explosive YouTube video. 

Despite her admissions, the book ended with the three now all under one roof in a picture of domestic bliss. 

West said: ‘Some people say that I’m delusional, that I couldn’t possibly be happy with two partners.

‘They lose their minds when confronted with the idea of nonmonogamy, and I am sympathetic. I used to share their lost mind.

‘I don’t know how a three-person marriage works! It just does! This wasn’t my plan.’

The Slate profile on West recapped the events in the tome as well as the public scrutiny the throuple faced following their announcement in 2022.

Koul wrote how in West’s new book, Oluo ‘appears dishonest, and the boundaries are muddied’ as she described his ‘ostensible cheating.’

During her interview with the outlet, West was open about the fact that she knew many of her fans weren’t too fond of her husband.

‘It was a hard tightrope because every time I wrote something nice about Aham, I felt like I was falling into that apologia trap, where I’m trying to justify something,’ she said.

‘Maybe I’m not a good enough writer, but I don’t know how to explain how and why I love a person.’

The heartbreaking murder of college student Sheridan Gorman is a tragedy that could have been prevented.

It has, however, prompted a disappointing and insensitive response from politicians, highlighting a troubling reluctance on the left to prioritize the safety of law-abiding citizens.

Just last week, Gorman, an 18-year-old freshman at Loyola University, was fatally shot on a Chicago beach. She was accompanied by friends, enjoying a late-night stroll in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

This young woman from Westchester was senselessly killed, shot in the back by an unknown masked assailant.

“The kids were out doing normal things people do in the neighborhood,” commented Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden in a video shared on X, reflecting on the senseless act.

This is the moment that Hadden should have simply shut her mouth. But she proceeded to relay the most twisted version of this slaying.

“And it sounds like this might have been a wrong-place, wrong-time, running into a person who had a gun. They might have startled this person at the end of the pier, unintentionally.”

The jaw drops.

If ever there was someone in the wrong place, it was the alleged murderer, Jose Medina-Medina. According to DHS, he is an illegal alien from Venezuela who — shocker — came in under Biden’s open borders in May of 2023. That same year, he was picked up for shoplifting at Macy’s but never showed up for his court date.

Medina’s been an unworthy beneficiary of Biden’s welcome mat and blue-city sanctuary laws — both suicidal mechanisms for our free society.

Sheridan “was exactly where she should have been — close to campus, surrounded by friends, living her life,” her heartbroken family said in a statement, responding to Hadden’s insensitive remarks.

“What happened to Sheridan cannot be reduced to the idea of someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is not an abstraction. This is the loss of a daughter. The loss of a sister. The loss of a future filled with milestones that will now never come. Our family is forever changed.”

And then there’s Hadden, who is also in the wrong place. After blaming an innocent victim, she shouldn’t be anywhere near a position of power or leadership.

Imagine viewing a big city like Chicago as a world where the sane people should beware of “startling” a beast like Medina. Hadden obviously believes he has no agency.

Neither should Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson, who took nearly a week to even address the senseless murder. He offered condolences to the Gorman family but, when asked, didn’t want to address sanctuary cities.

On Monday, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker expressed condolences — but then blasted the Trump Administration for “politicizing heinous tragedies and instead focus on real solutions, like reinstating federal funds to prevent violence that support our public safety efforts.”

This is the same governor who still hasn’t acknowledged Illinois native Katie Abraham, who, in January 2025, was killed by a illegal immigrant who drunkenly hit her and took off. Her devastated father has been vocal about Pritzker’s silence on his daughter’s unnecessary death.

On Tuesday, Pritzker finally admitted there were “real failures” in our national immigration system, before pointing the finger back at Trump.

But city and state leadership’s priorities are clearly inverted: Criminals and illegals first, law-abiding taxpayers last.

In another era, when both sides could agree that law and order were important, shocking crimes like the murder of Gorman would have galvanized leaders of all stripes to come together and close obvious loopholes. They’d unite to find a common sense solution.

But progressive left leaders won’t even identify the cancer, so it’s impossible to treat it effectively.

Just ask Medina. He got the message loud and clear from the hapless pols running Chicago and the state of Illinois: The laws do not apply to him. He could cut the line and come into this country. Even as a guest, he can steal from his hosts and still remain free to create havoc.

Medina is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, but he is currently hospitalized with tuberculosis.

Why is this guy in the United States again?

Of course, no celebrities will wear Gorman’s name on their lapels on red carpets. Neither Springsteen nor U2 will record songs about her life ending because of failed progressive policies.

Gorman did nothing to put herself in danger. Her family described her as “deeply loving” and “everybody’s cheerleader.” 

She was just a beautiful young girl experiencing the thrill of independence and the first few milestones of young adulthood. Now her family is planning her funeral.

And the cowardly lefty politicians still refuse to acknowledge how their insane policies are to blame.

They’d rather point the finger.

CHICAGO (WLS) — A brief but pivotal hearing took place on Tuesday, marking the onset of a legal journey where a Cook County judge will determine the appointment of a special prosecutor. This potential prosecutor would delve into the actions of federal immigration officers from an incident last fall.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is firmly against this petition.

After the court session, attorneys representing a coalition of approximately 200 groups, clergy, and public officials publicly criticized Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke. They accused her of neglecting to investigate alleged misconduct by federal immigration officials during the “Midway Blitz” operation.

“A murder was committed. There was an attempted murder. Months and months have gone by,” emphasized Locke Bowman, a partner at Loevy & Loevy.

The high-profile cases in question include the killing of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez in Franklin Park and the shooting of Marimar Martinez, which continue to draw significant attention.

It is why they are calling for an independent special prosecutor to investigate, even as O’Neill Burke herself has called such a move illegal. Her office has already outlined a protocol for charging federal agents committing violent crimes.

“People want somebody to do something. I get that. But us violating the law doesn’t get us where we need to go,” O’Neill Burke said.

That argument is part of the filing that was submitted in court by her office, saying, in part, “The law permits the appointment of a special prosecutor for an actual conflict of interest in two distinct scenarios… Neither scenario exists here.”

The state’s attorney’s office also argued that “in Illinois… federal agents must be investigated by law enforcement… The petition before this Court is baseless, frivolous, and contrary to law. It must be denied.”

The petitioners’ attorneys called O’Neill Burke’s position an abdication of her duty.

“There is absolutely nothing that stops a state prosecutor from looking into, from evaluating evidence and from bringing charges,” said Loevy & Loevy Partner Steve Art.

But do they have a case? ABC7 Legal Analyst Gil Soffer believes the odds are against them.

“There are extraordinary circumstances, as is often the case with laws where you could, in this case, have an investigation conducted by the state’s attorney’s office. But it would be the extraordinary case,” Soffer said.

Judge Erica Reddick set April 10 as the next court date in this case, at which time the petitioners will have to offer up their formal response to the state’s attorney’s opposition.

In a tragic turn of events, Caleb Flynn, a 39-year-old former contestant of “American Idol,” now faces grave legal accusations. An indictment has been handed down, charging him with aggravated murder alongside a slew of other serious offenses following the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. The incident occurred in their Ohio residence on February 16.

The legal troubles have deepened for Flynn as a Miami County grand jury has issued an 11-count indictment. This includes charges of aggravated murder, three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, three counts of tampering with evidence, and two counts of witness intimidation. Adding further gravity to these charges are specifications related to the use of a firearm, as detailed in court documents accessed by Fox News Digital.

Initially, Flynn faced charges of murder, two counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of evidence tampering. However, the recent indictment has expanded the scope of accusations against him.

Prosecutors contend that Flynn employed a 9mm handgun in the alleged crime and manipulated the crime scene to mislead law enforcement. Despite these allegations, Flynn has maintained his innocence by pleading not guilty. His bond remains set at a substantial $2 million.

Flynn, prosecutors say, between Feb. 16 and Feb. 18, also allegedly attempted to intimidate a witness in the days following the shooting. The indictment does not identify the witness.

Audio from a 911 call previously obtained by Fox News Digital shows Flynn telling a dispatcher that someone broke into his home and shot his wife.

“Oh my god, somebody broke into my home, somebody broke into my home and shot my wife,” Caleb Flynn said. “My wife, she’s got two shots to her head, there’s blood everywhere. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my God.”

Only Ashley and Caleb Flynn as well as their two children were inside the home during the incident.

“RP and juvenile daughter are locked in a bedroom,” the dispatcher told police, according to the outlet.  “Just a correction — the juveniles are going to be in their own rooms asleep currently.”

In a previous statement to Fox News Digital, Caleb Flynn’s attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, said prosecutors rushed to accuse his client of murder.

“Caleb Flynn entered a plea of Not Guilty this morning and looks forward to defending this case. We are both disappointed and concerned about the short timeline and seeming rush to judgment in this case,” Mulligan said. “When the government runs out of leads or can’t develop leads and looks at a surviving spouse in cases such as these, the chance of a wrongful conviction increases.”

Caleb Flynn was a contestant on “American Idol” and talked about his love for his wife during an interview to be on the show in 2013 during a Hometown Interview segment.

“I absolutely love the Lord. I love my wife more than anything. She is very, very pretty. … I love her,” Caleb Flynn said. “But, you know, I’m just a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world.”
