President Donald Trump, when asked about the prospect of a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians, declined to commit, telling reporters, “We’ll have to see.”
These remarks were made during an informal press session on Air Force One as Trump was returning after signing a landmark peace deal that concluded two years of conflict in Gaza.
Addressing the topic, Trump mentioned that his current priority is the reconstruction of Gaza, which suffered two years of Israeli attacks following the October 7, 2023, Hamas assault.
“I’m not talking about a single state or double state or two state,” Trump said, adding: “A lot of people like the one-state solution, some people like the two-state solution. We’ll have to see.”
Twenty hostages were released Monday as part of an agreement intended to end the war in Gaza. Trump met with some of their families during his visit to the Knesset.
The moment remains fragile, however, as Israel and Hamas are still in the early stages of implementing the first phase of Trump’s peace plan.

The sides have not agreed on Gaza’s postwar governance, its reconstruction, or Israel’s demand that Hamas disarm. Negotiations over those issues could break down, and Israel has hinted it may resume military operations if its demands are not met.
Much of Gaza has been reduced to rubble, and the territory’s roughly 2 million residents continue to struggle in dire conditions. Under the deal, Israel agreed to reopen five border crossings to ease the flow of food and supplies into Gaza, parts of which are experiencing famine.
Roughly 200 U.S. troops will also help monitor and support the ceasefire deal as part of a team that includes partner nations, nongovernmental organizations and private-sector groups.
On Sunday, a group of protesters gathered outside a synagogue in Brooklyn to express their opposition to New York City mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani’s visit, as reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Mamdani, a practicing Muslim originally from Uganda, has been serving as a New York State Assembly member since 2021. A resident of Queens, he identifies as a Democratic socialist.
Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope extended invitations to all mayoral candidates, aiming to facilitate meetings with their members. The congregation emphasized on their website the significance of engaging in open discussions about crucial issues impacting the community’s hearts and minds.
Zohran Mamdani a vocal critic of Israel
Some members of the congregation, however, felt the invitation was a slap in the face due to Mamdani’s stance on Israel. He is a vocal critic of Israel and has called its actions in Gaza “genocide” and “apartheid.”
“I think it’s very clear that any group that wants Israel to be eliminated is not to be embraced by our congregation. It’s like inviting Yasser Arafat into our midst,” Elaine Kleinberg, a 25-year member of BCE, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The synagogue reportedly received 400 registrations, and 82 members submitted questions. Senior rabbi Rachel Timoner said about half of the selected questions addressed the issue of Israel, Zionism and anti-semitism, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Timonder told JTA that Mamdani’s appearance would be followed by Repu blican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
One congregant, who requested anonymity, told JTA that he was still working on how he felt about Mamdani after the visit.
“The guy has a history of being pro-Palestinian and anti-Zionist, anti-Israel as a Jewish state. I am typical of this community, anti-the prosecution of the war by the current Israeli government. I’m against them, but I am for Israel as a Jewish state, and I’m not quite sure. He’s still sort of vague where he stands or not,” the congregant said.

Zohran Mamdani has faced criticism
Mamdani has faced criticism for failing to condemn the pro-Palestinian phrase “globalize the intifada” and for his support of the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions movement against Israel. He also supports free buses, city-owned grocery stores, rent freezes, no-cost childcare and and taxing big corporations and New York’s wealthiest.
In his statement on the two-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack, Mamdani said Hamas had committed a “horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more.” He also condemned Israel for launching a “genocidal war” and the U.S. government for being “complicit through it all.”
“The occupation and apartheid must end. Peace must be pursued through democracy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account.”
Mamdani’s mother is an Indian-born filmmaker, Mira Nair, who earned acclaim for her movies “Salaam Bombay,” “Mississippi Masala,” and “Monsoon Wedding.” She was reportedly raised in a Hindu family. His father is Mahmood Mamdani, an academic, author and political commentator. He is a Muslim and was born in Bombay, India, and raised in Kampala, Uganda.
New York City is home to the largest Jewish population in the world outside Israel.

Sean Kingston Sentenced To 3.5 Years In Prison: What Happened?
Rapper Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for orchestrating a $1 million fraud scheme in which he used his celebrity status to obtain luxury goods without paying for them.
Prosecutors said that between April 2023 and March 2024, Kingston used social media to lure sellers of high-end merchandise, including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and a 19-foot LED television. He allegedly invited them to his Florida homes with promises of promotional exposure, but then sent fraudulent wire receipts instead of payment.
Court records revealed that victims often had to resort to lawsuits or police reports before receiving any money. A key piece of evidence was a text message Kingston sent to his mother, in which he instructed her to create fake receipts: “I told you to make a fake receipt.”
On July 19, 2024, rapper Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud each. Prosecutors alleged the pair orchestrated a scheme to swindle sellers of luxury vehicles, jewelry, and other high-end goods using fraudulent documents and wire transfers. Authorities estimated that the duo obtained approximately $1 million worth of merchandise without paying. Each charge carried a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
The indictment followed a February 2024 lawsuit filed by Ver Ver Entertainment, which accused Kingston of failing to pay for luxury watches and other items. The lawsuit also alleged Kingston misrepresented his professional ties to Justin Bieber, claiming he could secure Bieber’s participation in promotional videos despite the fact that the two artists had not collaborated since their 2010 single “Eenie Meenie.”
On March 28, 2025, a jury found Kingston and Turner guilty on all counts. While Kingston was placed on house arrest under electronic monitoring and required to post a $700,000 bond—comprising his $500,000 home and $200,000 in cash—he was later held at the Federal Detention Center in Miami after being unable to secure the bond. Turner was immediately remanded into federal custody.
Turner, his mother were sentenced to five years in prison on July 23, 2025. Kingston, 35, was sentenced on August 15, 2025, to 3.5 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Born on June 3, 1946, in Melbourne, Victoria, Rogers built a career in both Australia and the United States. Anas al-Sharif was killed alongside four other journalists outside a hospital in Gaza City
Five Al Jazeera journalists were killed on Sunday in what the network described as a deliberate Israeli airstrike on Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed one of the victims, Anas al-Sharif, was a Hamas leader operating under the guise of a journalist.
According to Al Jazeera, al-Sharif, fellow journalist Mohammed Qreiqeh, and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa died when a tent used by media personnel in Gaza City was struck. They had been stationed across from the Al-Shifa Hospital complex at the time.
The IDF alleged that al-Sharif led a Hamas terrorist cell and was involved in orchestrating rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and military forces. The military said it had previously released intelligence and seized documents from Gaza proving his affiliation with Hamas.
Al Jazeera dismissed the accusations, calling them “baseless” and “fabricated,” noting that both the network and al-Sharif had denied any terrorist links. Similar claims had been made by the IDF in October 2024, when it named al-Sharif among six journalists it accused of being militants.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) criticized Israel’s repeated pattern of labeling journalists as terrorists without offering credible proof. CPJ regional director Sara Qudah emphasized that journalists are civilians who must never be targeted and urged accountability for the killings.
In July, after being accused by the IDF of ties to Hamas’ military wing, al-Sharif told the CPJ that the allegations were retaliation for reporting that cast Israel in a negative light. He claimed Israel aimed to “assassinate” him both morally and physically.
Al Jazeera, funded by Qatar’s government, says 10 of its staff have been killed since the war in Gaza began in 2023. Israel has accused the channel of biased reporting and, in May 2024, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government voted to shut down its local offices, branding it an “incitement channel.” The network has consistently denied these allegations.
Israel launched its Gaza offensive after the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attacks in which 251 people were taken hostage and many civilians were killed, including at a music festival. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports over 61,000 deaths in Gaza since the offensive began.
Last week, Israel announced plans to take control of Gaza City, a move that sparked criticism and prompted Germany to suspend military exports to Israel that could be used in the conflict.

Fort Stewart Shooting: Five Soldiers Shot At Fort Stewart
Authorities have identified Sgt. Quornelius Radford, a 28-year-old active-duty soldier from Jacksonville, Florida, is the suspect in a recent shooting at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Radford, who enlisted in the Army in 2018 as an automated logistical specialist, is assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team. He has no history of combat deployments, and officials say there were no prior behavioral concerns noted.
According to sources, the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute between Radford and one of the victims the previous day. On Wednesday morning, Radford reportedly brought a 9mm handgun—purchased legally in Florida in May—to the base. He followed one of the victims to a maintenance area and shot him in the chest before turning the weapon on four others.
Fellow soldiers quickly intervened, subduing and detaining Radford. He was apprehended at approximately 11:35 a.m., around 40 minutes after the gunfire began. Authorities recovered the firearm and multiple shell casings at the scene.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
Radford is currently in pretrial detention under the custody of the Army Criminal Investigation Division. He will face legal proceedings under the Army Office of Special Trial Counsel (OSTC), which functions similarly to a U.S. Attorney’s Office. The OSTC is now reviewing evidence and preparing formal charges, with a court-martial expected to follow.
Of the five soldiers injured, two were taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, while the remaining three received care at an Army medical facility. All victims are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.
Military leadership will ultimately determine whether charges are filed and what disciplinary action will be taken, in accordance with Department of Defense policies.

Track star Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested on the night of Sunday, July 27, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport following an alleged altercation with fellow elite sprinter Christian Coleman.
According to authorities, the incident took place near the security screening area, where Richardson and Coleman reportedly became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated. Surveillance footage reviewed by police shows Richardson repeatedly pushing Coleman and eventually throwing a pair of headphones at him.
A TSA supervisor alerted law enforcement to what was described as a verbal and potentially physical dispute. Responding officers from the Port of Seattle Police Department detained Richardson and later charged her with fourth-degree domestic violence assault, the lowest level of assault under Washington state law.
In the official report, Officer Paul Chung noted that video surveillance showed Coleman trying to walk away from Richardson several times. Despite this, Richardson is seen closely following him, pushing him hard enough to knock him into a nearby column and later shoving him again, causing him to stumble several feet.
Coleman reportedly returned to the TSA checkpoint in search of help, but Richardson allegedly continued to follow and confront him, ultimately throwing headphones that struck him.
While Coleman confirmed to police that he and Richardson were in a relationship of over two years and admitted they had a heated argument, he denied any physical contact, declined to identify himself, and refused further involvement in the investigation. He also declined to be listed as a victim.
Despite Coleman’s lack of cooperation, officers placed Richardson in custody due to video evidence. Under Washington state’s mandatory arrest laws, police are required to make an arrest if there is probable cause of domestic violence within four hours of their response.
Richardson was booked at the South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, WA, and released the following afternoon (July 28).
As of now, no formal charges have been filed, and her inmate record shows no updates. Prosecutors have 72 hours to decide whether to pursue charges.
Neither Richardson nor her representatives has made a public statement. USA Track and Field (USATF) acknowledged the incident but declined further comment.

Richardson, the 2023 100m World Champion, ran in the 100m opening round at the U.S. Championships last Thursday but withdrew from the semifinals without explanation. However, as the defending world champion, she holds an automatic qualification for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on the evening of Tuesday, July 29, prompting tsunami warnings and evacuation orders throughout the U.S. West Coast, Alaska, Hawaii, and northern Japan.
Initially recorded as an 8.0 by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake was later upgraded to 8.7, then to 8.8. It occurred at 6:24 p.m. local time and is among the strongest recorded in the region in recent years.
The tremor has triggered a coordinated emergency response spanning multiple nations across the Pacific Rim.

From Los Angeles to Seattle, and stretching from Astoria to San Diego, coastal residents were advised to prepare for possible flooding and hazardous currents between 11:20 p.m. and 1:05 a.m. PT. In Alaska, areas such as Attu, Shemya, and Adak were evacuated, with tsunamis expected to reach the region between 4:46 p.m. and 5:46 p.m. local time.
The National Tsunami Warning Center stated: “Dangerous tsunami waves are imminent or already occurring. Evacuate coastal areas NOW. Do not wait for visual confirmation.”

At least 11 people were injured during a stabbing spree at a Walmart store in Traverse City, Michigan, authorities reported. The suspect, a 42-year-old Michigan resident, was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it is investigating what they described as a “multiple stabbing incident” at the Walmart in Garfield Township, located roughly 255 miles (410 km) northwest of Detroit.
According to Sheriff Michael Shea, the attack began near the store’s checkout area at approximately 4:43 p.m. The suspect, armed with a folding knife, entered the store alone and randomly attacked shoppers. Law enforcement officials stated that the suspect acted alone and described the event as an apparent “random act.”
Bystanders in the store helped detain the attacker and provided first aid to the victims before emergency personnel arrived. Sheriff Shea praised the coordinated response from both citizens and first responders.
All 11 victims were transported to Munson Medical Center, where seven remain in fair condition and four are listed as serious, according to Munson Healthcare spokesperson Catherine Dewey.
The victims included six men and five women, he said. Three people were undergoing surgery, he said. He did not know the status of the other victims.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her concern and offered support, stating she was in contact with law enforcement. “Our thoughts are with the victims and the entire community shaken by this horrific violence,” she said.
A motive for the attack is not yet known. Federal authorities, including the FBI, are assisting in the investigation, said FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino.
