Khloé Kardashian Health Update: Khloé Kardashian Skin Cancer And Surgery Explained

Khloé Kardashian’s removal of a facial tumor has left her “healing beautifully.”

The 38-year-old, who first disclosed her skin cancer scare in October 2022, gave fans an update on her health on Sunday as she answered a query from one of her 295 million followers in the comments section of her most recent Instagram post.

In the post, which also featured a photo of Kardashian pouting in her home gym while donning a white cami top and the text “Happy Sunday,” a fan questioned her about a skin-colored bandage that was visible on her jawline.

“a bandage 🩹,” Kardashian replied. “I had a tumor removed from my face but I’m totally ok. Thank you for asking ❤️.”

When another follower also asked about the bandage, the mother-of-two added that the bandaid was actually “a scar strip.”

“I had a tumor removed from my face a few months ago so I wear this for healing and the prevention of my scar getting worse,” she added. “All is great and healing wonderfully.”

The social media picture also got a like from Kardashian’s ex Tristan Thompson, with whom she shares daughter True Thompson, 4, and a 6-month-old son whose name they have not yet revealed. Malika Haqq, Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn, and her BFF Malika Haqq both commented on the post.

In a sequence of posts on her Instagram Story from October of last year, the Kardashians star first revealed the news of her tumor in close-up pictures of her skin.

Some of you may be asking why I’ve been sporting a bandage on my face for the past few weeks after reading the various stories that have been floating around, she wrote.

“After noticing a small bump on my face and assuming it was something as minor as a zit, I decided to get it biopsied 7 months after realizing it was not budging.”

The founder of Good American further stated that she underwent two separate biopsies, and both of the physicians felt the bump was “incredibly uncommon” for a person her age.

A few days later, she was informed that she required urgent surgery to remove a tumor from her face. I contacted Beverly Hills’ best surgeon, Dr. Garth Fisher, who is a close family friend and who I knew would take excellent care of my face.

“I’m happy to report that Dr. Fischer was able to obtain all the necessary information; all of my margins seem to be clean, and now we can move on to the healing process.

So, here we are… you’ll continue to see my bandages and when I’m allowed, you’ll probably see a scar (and an indentation in my cheek from the tumor being removed) but until then I hope you enjoy how fabulous I’m making these face bandages look.”

Kardashian ended her post by expressing her gratitude that the growth was “caught early” after also disclosing that she had a melanoma removed from her back when she was 19 years old.

“I’m fortunate to only have a wound to use as a storytelling tool. Since most people aren’t as fortunate as I am, I will always be appreciative “Added she.

According to The Mayo Clinic, skin cancer is the abnormal growth of skin cells that usually appears on skin that has been exposed to sunlight, specifically the sun’s UV rays.

Melanoma is one of the three main kinds of skin cancer, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Bella Hadid Lyme Disease Diagnoses

Bella Hadid, a SUPERMODEL, is renowned throughout the world for both her hourglass figure and her fearless catwalk walk. She has walked for a number of prestigious fashion houses, including Prada and Balenciaga.

Many people aren’t aware, though, that the 26-year-old Victoria’s Secret angel has been covertly dealing with a persistent medical condition for years.

What was Bella Hadid diagnosed with?

Bella Hadid received a diagnosis of Lyme disease back in 2012, and since 2015, she has been transparent about her battles with the bacterial illness.

The supermodel frequently posts images on social media about her continuing health journey, including how she finds the time to get IVs while working nonstop and traveling.

At the 2016 Global Lyme Alliance gala, Bella told PEOPLE, “Life isn’t always what it seems on the outside, and the hardest part of this journey is to be judged by the way you appear instead of the way you feel.”

She is not the only famous person who battles this condition, though.

Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber have also struggled with Lyme’s chronic effects on the body, including overwhelming fatigue, joint pain, headaches, rashes, and more.

Who Else In Bella Hadid Family Has Lyme Disease?

Additionally, Bella is not the only member of her family to have an inflammatory disorder.

In 2012, her sibling Anwar and mother Yolanda were both given Lyme disease diagnoses.

During a speech at the 2015 Global Lyme Alliance gala, the 59-year-old matriarch formally disclosed that two of her three children were also battling alongside her.

“Watching my babies battle in silence to support me in my path, while Bella and Anwar, my two youngest children, were diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in early 2012, struck the deepest core of hopelessness inside of me,” she said.

“This honor belongs to Bella and Anwar.

This is my way of showing you that I won’t let you experience a life of suffering and pain.

For you to lead the healthy existence you deserve, I will search the entire planet for a cure. No kid should endure the kind of suffering you do.

“I appreciate your extraordinary acts of selflessness throughout this voyage, you both. Through the worst times of my life, your unwavering love and compassion kept me living and fighting.”

Gigi Hadid, Bella’s elder sister, is 27 years old and does not have Lyme disease, but she has been battling Hashimoto’s Disease, an autoimmune condition that attacks the thyroid cells since she was only 16 years old.

What Else Does Bella Hadid Suffer From?

Bella openly battles anxiety and depression in addition to the effects of Lyme disease.

Inspired by singer Willow Smith, she posted a number of photos of herself crying on Instagram in November 2021 along with some of her inner thoughts. She wrote: “All humans are different, every single human has something so special and unique to give.

And people fail to realize that everyone is essentially feeling the same way: lost, bewildered, and unsure of their purpose in life. Everyone is experiencing anxiety, so everyone is trying to hide it in some manner.

“We’re going to unite despite our faults. Accept it all as lovely and natural, in our insecurities, joy, and happiness.

For a few years now, this has pretty much been my every day and every night.

Social media is not true, she continued. Those who are having trouble, kindly keep that in mind. Sometimes hearing that you’re not alone is all you need to hear. I’m saying to you that you’re not alone. You are loved; I can see you and hear you.

Self-help for mental disease and chemical imbalance is not linear and resembles a flowing rollercoaster of challenges. It fluctuates up and down and in both directions. However, I want you to know that there is always hope for the future and that the journey will eventually come to an end.

What Is Lyme Disease

The borrelia bacteria are the source of Lyme disease. Typically, a tick harboring the Lyme disease bacteria will bite a human and transmit the illness.

The majority of the United States is home to ticks that can transmit the bacterium borrelia. However, the northeastern and mid-Atlantic regions, as well as the upper Midwest, are where Lyme disease is most prevalent. Additionally prevalent are south-central and southern Canada, Europe, and Europe.

Spending time in areas where ticks thrive, such as grassy, brushy, or forested areas, puts you at risk for Lyme disease. Lyme disease risk can be decreased in these places by taking safety precautions.

Symptoms

Similar to a mosquito bite, a tick attack may appear as a tiny, itchy bump on your skin. This doesn’t imply that you have an illness spread by ticks. Many individuals won’t even be aware they’ve been bitten by a tick.

Different Lyme disease signs exist. They typically appear in phases. However, the phases can mix. Additionally, not everyone exhibits the usual early-stage symptoms.

Stage 1

Typically, the first signs of Lyme illness appear 3 to 30 days after a tick bite. There aren’t many symptoms present at this level of the disease. Early localized illness is what we refer to as.

A rash is a common Lyme disease symptom. However, it doesn’t always occur. The rash typically begins as a solitary circle and slowly spreads from the tick bite site. The center could become distinct and resemble a target or bull’s-eye. Although the rash frequently feels warm to the touch, it generally isn’t uncomfortable or itchy.

Other stage 1 symptoms include:

  • Fever.
  • Headache.
  • Extreme tiredness.
  • Joint stiffness.
  • Muscle aches and pains.
  • Swollen lymph nodes.

Stage 2

Without treatment, Lyme disease can get worse.  The symptoms often show up within 3 to 10 weeks after a tick bite. Stage 2 is often more serious and widespread. It is called early disseminated disease.

Stage 2 may include the stage 1 symptoms and the following:

  • Many rashes on other parts of the body.
  • Neck pain or stiffness.
  • Muscle weakness on one or both sides of the face.
  • Immune system activity in heart tissue causes irregular heartbeats.
  • Pain that starts from the back and hips and spreads to the legs.
  • Pain, numbness, or weakness in the hands or feet.
  • Painful swelling in tissues of the eye or eyelid.
  • Immune-system activity in eye nerves that causes pain or vision loss.

Stage 3

In the third stage, you may have symptoms from the earlier stages and other symptoms. This stage is called late disseminated disease.

The most prevalent disease of this stage in the US is arthritis in large joints, especially the knees. Long-lasting discomfort, edema, or rigidity is possible. The signs might also appear and go. Symptoms of stage 3 typically appear 2 to 12 months after a tick infection.

Acrodermatitis chronic atrophicans is a skin disorder that can be brought on by the type of Lyme disease that is prevalent in Europe. The tops of the feet and the backs of the palms develop discolored, swollen skin. The elbows and ankles may also be affected. Joints or tissues may be harmed in more severe instances.

After a tick bite, this skin disease may appear months or years later.

Prevention

Avoiding tick bites when you are outside is the best method to protect yourself from Lyme disease. When you stroll or labor in grassy, wooded, or overgrown fields, the majority of ticks will attach themselves to your lower legs and feet. A tick will frequently crawl upward after attaching to your body to locate a place to burrow into your epidermis.

Follow these recommendations to protect yourself if you’re in or intend to be in a location where ticks are likely to exist.

Use tick repellents

  • Spray a repellent with 0.5% permethrin on your camping gear, including your tent, shoes, and outdoor apparel. Permethrin may have already been applied to some equipment and garments.
  • Except for your face, apply an insect repellent that has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency to any exposed flesh. Insect repellents with DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE), para-menthane-diol (PMD), or 2-undecanone are examples of these.
  • On infants under the age of three, avoid using products with OLE or PMD.

Dress for protection

  • Wear light-colored clothing to make it simpler for you to spot bugs on your clothing and for others to do the same.
  • Do not wear sandals or shoes with exposed toes.
  • Wear long sleeve shirts with your trousers tucked in.
Dress in long trousers with your socks tucked in.

Check for ticks

  • Shower as soon as possible to wash off any loose ticks. Check for ticks that may have burrowed.
  • Use a mirror to check your body well. Pay attention to your underarms, hair and hairline. Also check your ears, waist, and the area between your legs, behind your knees, and inside your belly button.
  • Check your gear. Before you wash your outdoor clothes, put them in the dryer on hot for at least 10 minutes to kill ticks.

Other tips

  • Do a daily inspection for ticks on any pet that spends time outdoors.
  • Stay on clear paths as much as possible in wooded and grassy areas.

Lexi Reed Calciphylaxis Diagnosis

Regardless of how drawn-out and excruciating her recovery continues to be, Lexi Reed says she won’t give up on her health.

She was hospitalized last year after being given the rare diagnosis of calciphylaxis, which rendered her unable to move or stand by herself for months.

The weight loss influencer revealed on Monday how terrified she felt after learning she had calciphylaxis in the agonizing days following renal failure. The 31-year-old outlined the reality of her uncommon condition by posting a picture on Instagram that showed the scars on her stomach from her healed wounds.

“Calciphylaxis is a rare disease that I had never even heard of before it completely rocked my universe.

Reed captioned the picture, “A disease so uncommon the doctors had to look it up before they tried to cure me. “A illness that left me with dead, necrotic skin on my thighs and shoulders, creating painful wounds.”

She continued, “A disease that left me in tears every day and wondering how strong I really was to keep going.” When the infection rate was so high and the mortality rate for the disease was so high (45-80%), I was told that I would be lucky to survive for six to twelve months.

A disease that terrified me to my core every single day that I may not wake up, or see my husband, or loved ones, and that every moment could be my last.”

Following a month-long hospitalization during which she was on a ventilator and in a medically-induced coma as her organs began to fail, Reed first disclosed that she was unable to move or stand on her own in February 2022.

She disclosed that she had been given a calciphylaxis diagnosis a few months later.

According to Cleveland Clinic, calciphylaxis is a disease where calcium deposits in blood vessels obstruct blood flow to the skin. Open wounds and possibly fatal infections can result from it.

In order to allow her wounds to recover, Reed has since undergone a number of debridement surgeries to remove damaged tissue.

“Every scar is proof that I’ve been fighting for my life and against all odds – but this is healing & I’m not giving up no matter what calciphylaxis throws at me.❤️” Reed ended her post.

The influencer revealed on her Instagram Story that she has been working with various wound care experts to heal for the past year.

“My doctor initially thought the painful bumps I had on my stomach were just a knot, but they continued spreading and also expanded to my legs,” Reed said. “I continued going to the doctor crying in pain and receiving nothing but advise to take Tylenol, until I was hospitalized after seeing another MD who said the bumps weren’t normal.”

Reed claimed that while she was in the hospital, physicians argued over how to diagnose her as the bumps began to turn black.

It wasn’t until a nephrologist — a doctor specializing in kidney problems — stepped in that she was told it was early stages of calciphylaxis.

“I’m just so grateful they did finally diagnose me correctly or things could have been totally different,” she wrote.

Back in September, Reed celebrated a huge milestone in her recovery, revealing on Instagram that she was finally able to walk again after spending the majority of the year facing mobility problems.

Her post included a clip of her slowly walking up and down the sidewalk by herself, admitting that 2022 was “the hardest year of my life.”

“After spending three weeks in the hospital at the beginning of this year I wasn’t able to walk when I was released and felt defeated/devastated,” Reed wrote at the time. “The doctors weren’t sure why but I could no longer lift my right leg or walk on my own despite tests and with my other health problems my mobility wasn’t the highest priority at the moment.”

She continued, “The past nine months have been unknown while I’ve needed a wheelchair and assistance with all of my everyday activities. “After finally making it to the stage where I felt like I was living rather than just surviving, I had to watch from the sidelines of my own life.

I experienced the same sense of helplessness as when I weighed 485 pounds, but I didn’t give up on myself.”

Reed concluded, “Fall down seven times and stand up eight. My posture isn’t perfect, I’ve fallen numerous times, can’t walk miles as I used to, and I might not be as strong as I used to be.

Calciphylaxis Meaning, Symptoms, And Causes

What Is Calciphylaxis?

Calciphylaxis is a serious, uncommon disease in which calcium accumulates in small blood vessels of the fat and skin tissues.

Calciphylaxis causes blood clots, and painful skin ulcers and may cause serious infections that can lead to death. People who have calciphylaxis usually have kidney failure and are on dialysis or have had a kidney transplant. The condition can also occur in people without kidney disease.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of calciphylaxis include:

  • Large purple net-like patterns on the skin
  • Deep, very painful lumps that ulcerate creating open sores with a black-brown crust that fails to heal — typically in skin areas with high-fat content, such as the stomach and thigh, although they can occur anywhere
  • Infections from injuries that don’t heal

Causes Of Calciphylaxis

Although the precise cause of calciphylaxis is unknown, recent research has shown that the majority of those who suffer from the condition have abnormal blood-clotting factors. Your blood contains substances called blood-clotting factors that work to halt bleeding. Small blood clots may develop more frequently than usual as a result of these anomalies.

Additionally, those who suffer from calciphylaxis have an imbalanced calcium metabolism. This results in calcium being deposited in the arteries’ smallest sections (arterioles), where it ultimately causes blood clots to form. Blood clots may deny skin and fat cells oxygen and nutrition.
