Prince William Declines Questions About Earl Spencer’s Book

0

Prince William declined to answer questions about his uncle Earl Spencer’s book about his late mother, Princess Diana, during a visit to a community cinema this morning.

The Prince of Wales visited ActOne in Acton, west London, to promote the British film industry and showcase the community role played by independent cinemas.

However, the royal engagement risked being eclipsed by the continuing dispute over the earl’s new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, which was released this morning.

In the memoir, Earl Spencer claims that King Charles said, ‘we’ll forget her soon enough’ after Diana’s death and appeared ‘giddily elated’ following the crash.

The allegations have triggered a public exchange of words between the earl and Buckingham Palace, which responded that ‘the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason’.

As William climbed the steps to the cinema on Acton High Street, a reporter asked: ‘Sir, how do you feel about your uncle’s book, have you read it?’

The prince did not respond. Instead, he quickly entered through the open doors as a royal supporter called out: ‘We love you, William!’

During the visit, William served popcorn to members of the public attending a film. He later apologised for operating the till slowly after a queue began to form.

This evening, William and his wife Kate are due to attend the world premiere of Digger in Leicester Square, alongside stars including Tom Cruise and Riz Ahmed.

The event at the Odeon Luxe cinema comes four years after William and Kate met Cruise at the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in London in May 2022.

Meanwhile, the Mail on Sunday reported over the weekend that Earl Spencer described the palace’s response as ‘a rather poor imitation of the “recollections may vary” quote’—the phrase used by the late Queen in response to allegations made by Harry and Meghan during their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

He said: ‘It is not every day you wake up to find you’ve been gaslit by the King.

‘It was astonishingly provocative and below the belt because it was essentially trying to say I’d lied without the King being able to deny what I’d said.

‘I also thought it was a rather poor imitation of the “recollections may vary” quote, which was a much more elegant way of putting things, but in these circumstances entirely out of place.’

Responding to the claims in the memoir, a palace spokesman said last Wednesday: ‘While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss.’

Discussing an alleged dispute over Diana’s funeral arrangements involving her sons, Earl Spencer said: ‘(The King) went ballistic, would be the right term, and started really going for my family as a whole, about their sense of duty, not being adequate enough, and ranted for a while, I have no idea how long, but it was a significant period, and I just listened.

‘And then he stopped, and I thought, “Oh now he’s going to pull himself together and say something more appropriate”. And then he said, “We’ll forget her soon enough”.’

Charles is said to have made the comments about his ex-wife in a row with the earl over whether the then Prince William and Prince Harry should follow Diana’s funeral cortege.

One of Queen Elizabeth II’s senior aides had told the earl that William and Harry were to walk in the funeral procession, prompting the earl to state ‘that’s not going to happen’.

Charles called minutes later and told him that 18 years earlier, he had walked in the funeral procession of his great-uncle, Lord Mountbatten, it is claimed. But the earl pointed out that Charles had been 30 at the time of Lord Mountbatten’s funeral in 1979.

The earl also spoke of how Charles’s phone call following the car crash in 1997 ‘all sounded strangely matter-of-fact’.

One passage of the book read: ‘Unlike my other callers, who were stunned, barely able to articulate their condolences and offers of help, he sounded giddily elated – like a lottery winner, I remember thinking at the time.

‘He let me know he had informed William and Harry of their mother’s death, first thing that morning, in their bedrooms at Balmoral.

‘It all sounded strangely matter-of-fact, given the enormity of the disaster.

‘Looking back now, I suspect the prince’s first reaction must have been to think more of how this event might free him to marry the woman he loved, rather than appreciating the loss of one he did not.’

In another extract of the book – which was serialised by the Daily Mail – the earl told of his memories of the funeral, and his concern for Harry, after he observed a ‘lack of obvious care’ for the then 12-year-old prince.

Separately, it was reported last night that Harry is in talks to make a documentary about his mother to mark the 30th anniversary of her death.

The Duke of Sussex is understood to have asked a number of Diana’s friends and relatives if they would take part in a commemorative film ahead of the milestone in August next year.

Among them is her brother the earl, who has said he penned a book to avoid being a ‘talking head’ in productions about his sister.

The project has not been confirmed, and the prince is understood to be weighing up different ways of commemorating Diana and her legacy.

A source close to Harry said: ‘The Duke has discussed a number of possible projects. Nothing has been finalised or confirmed, and he is still considering the most meaningful way to honour his mother’s legacy during this important anniversary year.’

Taylor Swift Reveals Major Music Comeback With New Single

0

Taylor Swift announced her musical comeback Tuesday with a new single called “Patient Zero.”

The 36-year-old pop superstar, who married NFL player Travis Kelce, also 36, in July, sent fans into a frenzy after her website displayed a cryptic two-hour countdown. Many initially wondered whether the timer signaled the long-awaited release of the couple’s wedding photos.

Swift has long used countdowns and carefully planted Easter eggs to build anticipation. In the past, similar online teases have preceded new albums, fashion shoots and limited-edition merchandise drops.

She added to the mystery by changing her Twitter and Instagram bios to read, “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u,” accompanied by a flaming heart emoji. The phrase used zeros in place of the letter “o.”

When the clock reached 2 p.m. ET, Swift unveiled the artwork for the single. The imagery appeared to reference a 2024 Los Angeles Times article that described her as “patient zero” for emotional contagion.

Alongside a sultry new photograph, Swift wrote: “I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.”

Taylor Swift announced her musical return Tuesday with the upcoming single “Patient Zero.”

The pop icon, 36, who wed NFL star Travis Kelce, 36, in July, left fans speculating she was about to drop her wedding photos when her website launched a mysterious two hour countdown on Tuesday

The 36-year-old star, who married Travis Kelce in July, sparked speculation about a wedding-photo reveal when her website launched a mysterious two-hour countdown.

The accompanying images showed Swift posing in revealing black dresses, with smoky eye makeup and her trademark red lipstick. The dark, dramatic styling appeared to usher in a new chapter of her career.

Fans could pre-order three versions of the song for $3.99 each, including acoustic and piano renditions.

The gothic photo shoot seemed to take place in a crypt, prompting fans to speculate that “Patient Zero” might belong to a companion project. Some suggested it could represent “a sister album to The Life of a Showgirl,” with the phrase “it’s the death of a showgirl” fueling the theory.

The Daily Mail said it contacted Swift’s representative for comment but had not received a response.

Before the announcement, fans joked that the countdown might finally reveal Taylor and Travis’ wedding pictures. “Plot twist, it’s Taylor and Trav’s wedding photos behind the countdown,” one fan wrote, while another declared, “The countdown is for the wedding photos!!”

Other theories centered on a deluxe edition of Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. Fans also interpreted the three zeros in her updated bio as angel numbers representing a “new beginning” for the singer.

Swift’s most recent album arrived in October 2025 with The Life of a Showgirl. Her latest single, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, reached the top of the charts in June.

Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden on July 4. The couple’s wedding was confirmed in an email sent to journalists by Swift’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine, who also detailed their Christian Dior styling.

The bride accessorized her wedding look with Cartier jewelry and custom Christian Louboutin shoes. Yet two months after the ceremony, fans still had not seen photographs from the event.

“Taylor & Travis did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen. Instead, her brother Austin Swift served as Taylor’s Man of Honor and Jason Kelce was Travis’ Best Man. The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler,” Paine’s statement said.

Swift marked the wedding—an occasion she had imagined in her music for decades—by singing to her new husband in front of their celebrity guests.

The pop star reportedly performed alongside music legends Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney, although no photographs or video from inside the venue have been made public.

A downpour swept across Manhattan just moments after Swift and Kelce said ‘I do’ – a sign of good luck undoubtedly noticed by the famously superstitious bride.

The dramatic summer storm provided an unforgettable backdrop as the newlyweds kicked off the evening’s celebrations inside Madison Square Garden.

‘The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks have been created by Christian Dior Haute Couture. They are designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom,’ Paine wrote in her statement.

Not content with tantalizing fans on her website, Swift also altered both her Twitter and Instagram bio to read, 'And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u' along with a fire heart - with the 'o's' replaced by zeros

There was no glimpse of a wedding dress, or titbits from speeches, with every guest under the rule of a strict non-disclosure agreement.

Stars including Steven Spielberg, Jay Z, Paul McCartney, Graham Norton and Beyonce flooded MSG in blacked-out SUVs, while NYPD officials, briefed for the occasion, shut down streets in the sweltering heat.

Swift’s beloved girl squad were by her side throughout. She started the day by getting ready at best friend Gigi Hadid’s house. Her other trusty sidekick, Selena Gomez, was in attendance, as was Lena Dunham, Ellie Goulding, Dakota Johnson and her childhood best friend, Abigail Anderson Berard.

Making a surprising appearance was Swift’s former close friend Karlie Kloss, who wowed in a gold dress alongside her husband Joshua Kushner.

Swift did not attend Kloss’s 2019 wedding after the pair had a rumored feud over the model’s close bond with the singer’s nemesis Scooter Braun.

Kelce was joined by his brother, Jason, members of the Kansas City Chiefs team, and longtime friends Ross Travis and Aric Jones.

Guests included business executives, singers, movie stars and models.

American Idol’s Caleb Flynn Breaks Down Over Ashley’s Autopsy Photos

0

American Idol’s Caleb Flynn broke down in tears during his murder trial as prosecutors displayed graphic autopsy photographs of his wife, Ashley Flynn.

Caleb has pleaded not guilty to murder. He struggled to control his emotions, closing his eyes and wincing while jurors viewed images from the Feb. 16 crime scene and autopsy.

“This is a picture of the back of the head,” Montgomery County Deputy Coroner Bryan D. Casto testified Sept. 21. “You’re seeing hair and brain matter and blood obscuring what eventually is determined to be two gunshot wounds to the back of the right side of the head.”

Caleb shook his head and silently cried as additional photographs of Ashley were shown in court. One image depicted her skull and cleaned-up body, which Casto said was used to help identify her face.

Casto also testified that Ashley’s left eye appeared “somewhat blackened, like it’s bruised,” a result of extensive fractures to her skull.

“When that bone is fractured, it will leak blood down into the thin skin of the eyelid,” he explained. “It will give the appearance of a black eye, even though you may have never had any trauma to that area.”

Based on the nature of the bullet entry wounds, Casto said Ashley was likely shot at close range.

“They share parallel paths,” Casto said. “They are not only starting in very close proximity to each other but then their paths go through the brain—basically parallel to one another—and then they exit in the same area of the left frontal scalp.”

He concluded that Ashley died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Caleb called 911 on Feb. 16 and reported finding Ashley, the mother of two, in bed inside their Tipp City home. Their young daughters were sleeping nearby.

“Somebody, somebody broke into my home,” Caleb said in the frantic call obtained by Oxygen. “Somebody broke into my home and shot my wife.”

“She’s got two shots to her head,” Caleb told the operator. “There’s blood everywhere. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.”

Body-camera footage obtained by Oxygen showed Caleb crying hysterically when police arrived. He later began vomiting into a trash can.

Prosecutors said in court Sept. 18 that the couple’s garage door was open. Caleb’s gun, which he said he kept in the trunk of his truck, was also missing from the vehicle’s center console.

Caleb faces one count of aggravated murder, three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and three counts of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors allege the tampering charges stem from an attempt to stage the scene as a home invasion.

Prosecutors allege Caleb killed Ashley so he could pursue a relationship with his mistress. During opening statements Sept. 18, Miami County Prosecuting Attorney Paul M. Watkins cited more than 100,000 text messages exchanged by the pair. In them, prosecutors say, Caleb wrote that he “hated” Ashley and wanted a future with the unnamed woman.

“I was up until 4 a.m. last night crying, literally trying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail,” Caleb allegedly wrote in one message. “If I could literally kill her and not go to hell, I would do it in a heartbeat. That is how dark and how hateful I feel.”

In another message sent hours before Ashley’s death, Caleb allegedly wrote: “I choose you. I’m free. Actions will come tomorrow, February 16, a day I’ll never forget.”

Caleb’s attorneys acknowledged that he had been unfaithful but rejected the claim that the affair gave him a motive to commit murder.

“We’re not going to stand here and excuse Caleb for this,” defense attorney Emily Smith said in court Sept. 18. “Stated plainly, Caleb betrayed Ashley…a man can fail as a husband without being a murderer.”

Chinese Coast Guard Rams Philippine Boat, Escalating Sea Clash

0

Tensions in the South China Sea intensified Friday when a Chinese Coast Guard vessel collided with a Philippine government ship, an incident recorded on video that drew sharply different accounts from Manila and Beijing.

The Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources vessel BRP Datu Magat Salamat was delivering fuel to Filipino fishermen when the collision occurred at 11:13 a.m. The encounter took place about 54 nautical miles off Palawan province, in waters Manila says fall within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone.

Video released by the Philippine Coast Guard captured crew members shouting, “Brace for impact!” just before the crash. Images taken afterward showed bent and broken railings, damaged metal supports and debris across the Philippine vessel’s deck. No injuries were reported.

Philippine officials accused Beijing of deliberately striking a civilian government vessel during what they described as a humanitarian mission supporting the livelihoods of Filipino fishermen.

Jay Tarriela, a Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson for West Philippine Sea affairs, said the Chinese vessel initially crossed behind the Philippine ship at a distance of about 33 feet. He said it repeated the maneuver minutes later before colliding with the vessel.

Beijing rejected Manila’s version of events. Chinese Coast Guard spokesperson Jiang Lue said the Philippine vessel “intentionally adjusted its course and suddenly accelerated to cut across the bow” of the Chinese ship despite repeated warnings. China said its vessel was carrying out lawful operations near Sabina Shoal and placed responsibility for the collision on the Philippine side.

Washington also weighed in on the confrontation. U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Lipton said the United States “strongly condemn[s] the China Coast Guard’s deliberate ramming.”

The Chinese Embassy in Manila countered by accusing the United States of supporting Philippine “infringement and provocations” in the contested waters.

Friday’s collision adds to a growing series of maritime confrontations between China and the Philippines. In July, Manila accused Chinese forces of using water cannons against government vessels near Scarborough Shoal and of striking a Philippine Navy staff member on the head with a wooden baton during an encounter at Second Thomas Shoal.

Two Arrested Over Suspected Plot Targeting Jewish Community

0

Two men arrested by counter-terrorism officers in Manchester are suspected of planning an attack against the city’s Jewish community, police have said.

Specialist officers from the Metropolitan Police detained the pair in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Sunday before carrying out a raid at a nearby hostel.

The arrests came on the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, and almost a year after the deadly attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in which Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby were killed.

The Metropolitan Police said today that the investigation concerns a suspected terrorist plot targeting the Jewish community in the Manchester area. Officers said they did not believe there was any “ongoing threat to the public”.

The two men, both in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Terrorism Act and remain in custody.

Sources said the alleged plot is believed to have been driven by Islamist extremism, although the investigation is still at an early stage.

The suspected attack was reportedly linked to religious events marking Yom Kippur. A fast-moving investigation began after information was received indicating that the threat could be imminent.

No explosives or firearms have been discovered, it is understood. However, sources said it was too early to disclose how the alleged attack may have been carried out.

Police guard an address in Manchester after two men were arrested over an alleged terror plot targeting the city’s Jewish community

Sunday's raids came on the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar and a time of heightened safety fears following last year's deadly attack at Heaton Park Synagogue

The Sunday raids took place on the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, amid heightened security concerns following last year’s deadly attack at Heaton Park Synagogue

If confirmed, the alleged plot would mark the third terrorist targeting of the area in two years.

Marc Levy, chief executive of the Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester, said: “Yesterday marked one year since Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby were murdered in a terrorist attack targeting our community on Yom Kippur.

“The fact that, on that anniversary, a terrorist plot has been foiled which could once again have targeted Jews in Manchester makes this an incredibly concerning time for Jewish people in the UK.

“We are immensely grateful to Greater Manchester Police, the Metropolitan Police and the security services for their work in preventing another potential tragedy and for the extensive protection they continue to provide.

“We once again repeat that security can only ever deal with the symptoms.

“One year on from the murder of Melvin and Adrian, the Government must redouble its efforts to tackle the root causes of the hatred and extremism that are espoused in places of worship and other community spaces that continue to motivate people to target Jews.

“We cannot simply keep protecting our community from the next attack but must do much more to stop people being motivated to carry one out in the first place.”

The Community Security Trust (CST), which monitors antisemitism in the UK, said: “This is utterly chilling, coming so close to the anniversary of the terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue last year, and is another reminder of the serious terrorist threat facing Jewish communities in this current time.

“We want to thank the police and other agencies for their work protecting the Jewish community, and British society as a whole, from terrorism.

“We urge the Jewish community to remain calm and alert, and to report any suspicious activity to police on 999 and then to CST.”

And the Campaign Against Antisemitism said: ‘We are grateful to the authorities for their vigilance. But the Jewish community cannot rely on that forever.

‘The authorities need to get lucky every time and the terrorists only once. Until the threat itself is confronted, British Jews will never be safe.’

The arrests come almost 12 months after knife-wielding Islamic State supporter Jihad Al-Shamie tried to force his way into the Heaton Park Synagogue on last year’s Yom Kippur, October 2.

Al-Shamie – who was wearing a fake suicide belt, and rang 999 during his atrocity saying ‘I have killed two Jews in the name of Islamic State’ – had already stabbed Mr Cravitz, 66.

Police cordoned off a white Mercedes Benz in Newton Street near the centre of Manchester on Sunday after arresting the two suspects

As a police marksman fired his Glock pistol at the terrorist, an inquest earlier this month heard how one round tragically struck both Mr Daulby, 53, who was bravely helping to barricade the doors, causing fatal injuries, and also 39-year-old Yoni Finlay, who survived.

The year before a terrorist attack on the same Jewish community planned by Walid Saadaoui, 38, the former owner of an Italian restaurant in Great Yarmouth, and Amar Hussein, 52, a former Iraqi soldier who worked in an appliance store in Bolton, was foiled after they unwittingly bought assault rifles, handguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from an undercover officer.

Saadaoui was sentenced to life in jail with a minimum of 37 years and Hussein to life with a minimum of 26 years in February.

Today, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, senior national co-ordinator for counter terrorism policing, said: ‘This has been a long-running proactive investigation which has led to the disruption of what we believe to be a plot to target the Jewish community in the Manchester area.

‘Counter terrorism policing continue to focus our efforts on identifying and disrupting those who wish to cause harm in our communities.’

‘We are acutely aware this news will cause further concern to the Jewish community, as well as the wider public, especially given the significant High Holy Day period.

‘I want to reassure them we are working incredibly closely with colleagues in Greater Manchester Police and partners to ensure we’re doing everything we can to keep them and the wider public safe.

‘And more broadly, across the country CTP is working with local police forces to provide protective security support and advice for areas with Jewish communities, and particularly during the High Holy Day period.

‘As we have shown with these arrests, where we suspect there could be a threat to the public, then we will not hesitate to investigate and take action.

‘We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and we anticipate these will continue over the coming days as this investigation continues.

‘Importantly, we do not believe there to be any ongoing threat to the public in relation to this matter, but as ever, we would ask that people remain vigilant and contact police with any concerns.’

Earlier today police in Manchester pledged a ‘robust’ operation to protect the city’s Jewish population throughout this week’s High Holy Days period.

Chief Superintendent Dave Meeney, of Greater Manchester Police, said: ‘We’re well aware that events over recent days will have only added to already heightened concerns in our Jewish communities, especially at such an important time of year.

‘We recognise and understand this concern, and I want to make it absolutely clear that our work to provide as much visibility and security as we can through additional activity, which remains very much ongoing.

‘Our priority is always the safety of the public and, while we don’t currently believe there is any ongoing risk to our communities linked to Counter Terrorism Policing’s activity in Greater Manchester this week, we’ll continue to listen and respond to your concerns in the most proportionate and effective way.’

Star Trek, Xanadu Actor Dies at 85 After Six-Decade Career

0

James Sloyan, the veteran character actor whose career spanned six decades, has died at 85.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Sloyan, known for films including Xanadu, died July 22 at his home in Sherman Oaks, surrounded by family.

A statement honoring the actor described him as a constant presence who was curious, brave, inventive and loyal, while also being “brash, mouthy and very urban.” Friends and colleagues concluded: “He was one-of-a-kind.”

Sloyan is survived by Deirdre Lenihan, his partner of six decades, and their two children: Daniel, a musician, and Samantha, an actor.

Over a wide-ranging career, Sloyan worked across daytime soaps, primetime television, advertising and feature films.

For many viewers, he was especially recognizable from the Star Trek universe, making his franchise debut in a 1990 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Many fans know him from his multiple appearances in the Star Trek franchise, beginning with his role in a 1990 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation

Sloyan first appeared in the Star Trek franchise in a 1990 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation

He later appeared in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, returned to The Next Generation, and went on to feature in Star Trek: Voyager.

His film credits also included the 1973 classic The Sting, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

A major critical and box-office success, The Sting won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and earned more than $250 million worldwide.

Sloyan played Mottola, a mobster working for the ruthless crime boss Doyle Lonnegan, portrayed by Robert Shaw.

He later took on another memorable film role in the 1980 musical Xanadu, playing Simpson, the demanding boss of Sonny Malone, portrayed by Michael Beck.

His television résumé included appearances on such popular series as Hawaii Five-O, Growing Pains, MacGyver, Baywatch and The X-Files.

Away from the screen, Sloyan became a familiar voice to audiences after spending 20 years narrating Lexus commercials.

Sloyan was also the brother of the late Patrick Sloyan, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist remembered for reporting that American troops had been killed by friendly fire during the Gulf War.

Patrick died in 2019 at age 82.

Sloyan rarely ever gave interviews and never appeared at fan conventions, despite being one of the most popular guest stars from the Star Trek universe.

The announcement of his death comes just days after it was revealed that fellow Star Trek actor Gerrit Graham had also passed away.

Graham died last week aged 77 in an assisted living facility, his wife told The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to starring in multiple Brian De Palma films, including Phantom of the Paradise, he also appeared in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

His other notable roles include Child’s Play 2, My Girl 2, and 1978’s Pretty Baby with Brooke Shields.

Dolly Parton’s Nephew Speaks Out After Being Fired as Security Chief: ‘I Refuse to Be Intimidated’

0

Dolly Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, has criticized the late country star’s manager, Danny Nozell, and Pinnacle Bank after he was removed from his longtime position as head of security.

Seaver and his security team told TMZ Monday that they were “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” taken following Parton’s death on Aug. 25.

“We refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much,” they said.

Although Seaver and his team said they have been comforted by the worldwide support for Parton’s legacy, they added that they “remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family.”

Page Six has contacted Seaver for comment.

Seaver, who publicly announced the country icon’s death last month, and his security companies were dismissed from all of Parton’s properties in a notice issued last week, according to TMZ.

Reports said replacement security teams were quickly assigned to Parton’s primary Nashville residence, her museum, downtown home and warehouse.

The termination notice does not, however, eliminate Seaver’s personal interest in Parton’s trust, which includes her business holdings and real estate, TMZ reported.

Seaver, the son of Parton’s sister Cassie, announced the singer’s death in an Instagram video. He said making the announcement was “something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.”

“As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now,” Seaver said.

He continued, “It is an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly.”

Seaver also revealed that the “9 to 5” singer’s final request was to be buried in a “beautiful bed of plush cotton.”

Parton, who quietly battled cancer before her death, was laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum beside her late husband, Carl Dean Thomas, three days after she died.

Seaver attended the private memorial service alongside roughly a dozen of Parton’s closest relatives.

Earlier this month, Parton’s cousin Richie Owens told “Today” that the burial was “very quiet [and] very quickly done.”

“She wanted it very small,” Owens said of Parton’s wishes.

Danielle Parton, an airline pilot and Dolly Parton’s niece, said she believes her aunt would feel honored to know Nashville is considering naming its airport after her.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For Danielle Parton, the possibility of seeing Dolly Parton’s name added to Nashville International Airport carries special significance. She views the proposal both as a member of the Parton family and as a pilot who regularly flies through the Tennessee airport.

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted unanimously to begin the process of renaming the airport in honor of the country music icon. Officials have not yet selected a final name.

Danielle told 10News that conversations about renaming the airport began before Dolly’s death. As an airline pilot, she said she travels through Nashville International Airport several times a month.

“I remember talking to her one time, and I’ve heard her say in interviews that when they started talking about it, she didn’t take it seriously. She didn’t think it was a real thing,” Danielle said.

Now, Danielle said, she takes pleasure in seeing the once-unlikely proposal move closer to becoming reality.

“I think she’d be happy and honored about it,” she said.

Still, the airport proposal comes as Danielle and the rest of the family continue to mourn Dolly.

“She’s a big star to everybody else, but she was also just my aunt,” she said. “I’ve caught myself recently like wanting to tell her something funny, and I’m like, ‘Oh, I gotta call her,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh — can’t do that.’”

Dolly’s music and frequent appearances on television can sometimes make the loss feel less immediate, Danielle said. As Nashville’s airport naming process moves ahead, she also finds herself remembering advice her aunt often shared.

“Sometimes we just gotta get our rear end gear and get on with it,” Danielle said. “That’s exactly what she would want all of us to do — and the same with the airport. Let’s go. Let’s fly on. Let’s get to the next thing.”

The airport authority said the unanimous vote formally launches the naming process. Additional details are expected as officials continue developing the plans.

Ousted Georgia Mayor Speaks Out After Sexting, Spending Scandals

Former Stockbridge, Georgia, Mayor Jayden Williams said he was caught off guard when he was removed from office earlier this month amid allegations of misconduct.

“I didn’t expect this,” he told WSB-TV. “You know, maybe a censure, but definitely not a removal.”

Williams was 23 and had been mayor for less than a year when the Stockbridge City Council ousted him. He was the youngest mayor in the city’s history. His brief tenure came under scrutiny over alleged personal spending involving city funds and his relationship with an 18-year-old high school student.

When WSB-TV asked whether he should have understood that the relationship was inappropriate, Williams replied, “I would have to somewhat agree to that.”

“There was no violation of the oath,” Williams said, according to the station. “I wasn’t even mayor yet.”

Williams also told WSB-TV that the relationship was not sexual.

NBC News previously reported that Williams acknowledged exchanging nude photographs with the student.

“That’s not abnormal for somebody my age,” Williams said at a City Council meeting, according to NBC News.

A police report concluded that Williams had not committed a criminal offense because Georgia law considers the student an adult.

Williams also admitted using some money for personal purchases. He told WSB-TV the spending came from the mayor’s reallocated $5,000 annual budget rather than the city’s general fund.

“It was not intentional and I paid it back immediately,” he said.

Williams said the city purchasing card looked much like his personal credit card, according to Fox 5. The cards were later replaced to prevent similar confusion, the outlet reported.

Williams made history as Georgia’s youngest mayor after launching his campaign while attending Clark Atlanta University. He took office in January before the Stockbridge City Council impeached him earlier this month.
