New Jersey Mourns Psychotherapist Brooke Hanlon as Her Unsolved Murder Continues to Haunt Community

0

In a poignant farewell, family and friends gathered to honor the life of Brooke Hanlon, a beloved figure whose sudden and tragic death left her community reeling.

Just two months following the heart-wrenching discovery of the New Jersey psychotherapist’s lifeless body in her home, Brooke was finally laid to rest. She leaves behind a precious 14-month-old daughter, Avery, whose future will forever be shaped by the absence of her devoted mother.

“Brooke was a divine gift to all who knew her, embodying roles as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend,” her obituary dated August 12 softly proclaimed. It painted the picture of a “truly loving wife and an extraordinary mother to her darling Avery” who enriched the lives of everyone around her.

The heartfelt tribute continued by capturing the depth of Brooke’s connection with Avery, describing their bond as “spiritual, holy, and everlasting.” Those privileged to have met her were left with indelible memories of Brooke’s radiant and beautiful smile, a testament to her joy-filled presence.

The grim events of June 6 remain seared in the memory of those left behind. That day, Brooke’s husband, James “Conor” Hanlon, made the shocking discovery of his wife unconscious and covered in blood at their Chester Township residence.

“Oh my God! I need an ambulance, I just found my wife,” Conor told the 911 dispatcher, according to a recording of the call obtained by Oxygen. “I don’t know what’s going on. CPR, I need CPR instruction.”

Conor later screamed, “There’s blood everywhere!”

On the scene, police described the death as “suspicious,” according to dispatch audio obtained by People.

The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that Brooke’s cause of death was multiple sharp force injuries and her manner of death a homicide.

By July, police were asking the public for any information concerning Brooke’s death, while Conor had retained an attorney and was in communication with authorities, according to Fox News.

Conor has not been charged with a crime and Oxygen could not identify an attorney for him.

The case is now in its third month, with an MCPO spokesperson telling Oxygen on Aug. 18, “There are no updates at this time.”

Conor, who spent time in his hometown of Brighton, Mass., following her death, is now back in New Jersey, according to several residents who told People they saw his car parked outside the home.

Top Morning Exercises to Reduce Belly Overhang for Seniors Over 65

0

Achieving fitness goals doesn’t require a gym. Try this effective 4-move morning routine designed to tackle belly overhang for those over 65.

>

Kicking off your day with a morning workout can set a positive tone, allowing you to conquer tasks with renewed energy. It not only provides an early achievement but also ensures your workout isn’t sidelined by the day’s unexpected demands, which can easily turn “later” into “tomorrow.”

Addressing belly overhang involves more than spot training. While targeted ab exercises can strengthen underlying muscles, noticeable changes stem from a holistic approach, combining consistent exercise, strength training, a supportive diet, and maintaining regular physical activity. A brief morning routine can serve as a reliable anchor, fostering long-term habits and progress.

For those over 65, finding exercises that are challenging yet achievable is key. The goal is to increase effort, improve balance, and strengthen the core, all while maintaining the ability to continue with daily activities. Striking this balance is essential for cultivating consistency in one’s fitness journey.

This four-part morning routine incorporates a combination of core strengthening, steady marching, walking, and low-impact conditioning. You can perform these exercises as a quick circuit or distribute them throughout your morning, depending on what suits your schedule best.

Kneeling Side Plank Hold

The kneeling side plank gives your core a focus without turning the exercise into a long grind. It targets the side of your midsection, which helps with posture, balance, and control when you walk, turn, or shift your weight. The bent-knee setup makes the hold more approachable while still giving your obliques real work.

Muscles Trained: Obliques, deep core, glutes, shoulders.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your side with your knees bent.
  2. Place your forearm under your shoulder.
  3. Stack your hips and keep your knees together.
  4. Brace your core and lift your hips from the floor.
  5. Hold the position while breathing steadily.
  6. Lower with control, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 15 to 25-second holds per side. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between sides.

Best Variations: Shorter kneeling side plank holds, side plank hip lifts, full side plank holds.

Form Tip: Keep your chest facing forward and avoid rolling your hips toward the floor.

3 Chair Exercises That Smooth Bat Wings in 21 Days After 60

Standing Marching

Standing marching is simple, which is exactly why it works well in the morning. It gets your hips, legs, and core involved without asking for a big setup or a lot of space. Move with purpose, lift each knee with control, and let the rhythm raise your breathing without making the exercise feel rushed.

Muscles Trained: Hip flexors, quadriceps, glutes, calves, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Brace your core lightly.
  3. Lift your right knee toward hip height.
  4. Lower your foot with control.
  5. Lift your left knee and continue alternating.
  6. Pump your arms naturally as you march.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 30 to 45 seconds. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between sets.

Best Variations: Supported marching, slow-tempo marching, high-knee marching.

Form Tip: Stay tall as your knees lift instead of leaning back or folding forward.

Morning Walk

A morning walk gives this routine its steady calorie-burning piece. It’s easy to overlook because it doesn’t feel flashy, but walking is one of the most repeatable tools for changing daily energy use after 65. Keep the pace brisk enough to feel like exercise, but comfortable enough that you can come back to it most days.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, calves, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Start with 2 to 3 minutes at an easy pace.
  2. Stand tall and let your arms swing naturally.
  3. Pick up the pace until your breathing increases slightly.
  4. Walk with short, steady steps.
  5. Keep your shoulders relaxed.
  6. Finish with 1 to 2 minutes at an easier pace.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Walk for 10 to 20 minutes most mornings, or start with 5 minutes if that feels more realistic.

Best Variations: Indoor walking, treadmill walking, short walking intervals.

Form Tip: Choose a pace you can repeat consistently before worrying about speed.

5 Morning Exercises That Rebuild Knee Strength Faster Than Lunges After 60

Low-Impact Jumping Jacks

Low-impact jumping jacks bring a little more energy into the workout without the pounding of regular jumping jacks. You step one foot out at a time while your arms move overhead, which raises your heart rate and keeps the routine feeling active. It’s a useful finisher when you want a quick conditioning push before the day gets going.

Muscles Trained: Shoulders, glutes, calves, quadriceps, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet together and arms at your sides.
  2. Step your right foot out to the side as you raise both arms overhead.
  3. Bring your right foot back to center as your arms lower.
  4. Step your left foot out and repeat.
  5. Keep alternating sides at a steady pace.
  6. Continue for the full interval.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 30 to 45 seconds. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between sets.

Best Variations: Slower step jacks, smaller-range step jacks, faster low-impact jacks.

Form Tip: Keep the steps light and use a range your hips and shoulders can control.

The 12-Minute Chair Routine That Restores Leg Muscle Faster Than Weight Training After 60

How to Use These Morning Exercises After 65

Use these exercises as a morning circuit three to five days per week. Complete one set of each move in order, rest for 60 seconds, then repeat for two to three total rounds. On days when time is tight, do one round and take a short walk.

  • Start with the core hold: The kneeling side plank gets your midsection working before the faster movements begin.
  • Use marching as a warm-up or bridge: It helps you build rhythm before walking or low-impact jacks.
  • Treat the walk as the anchor: A consistent morning walk can do a lot for your weekly activity total.
  • Keep the finish energetic: Low-impact jumping jacks should raise your breathing while your joints still feel comfortable.
  • Repeat the same window: Morning routines work better when they become familiar. Pick a time you can protect most days.

Shrinking belly overhang after 65 takes steady effort, and a morning routine can make that effort easier to repeat. Start with control, build into movement, and let the consistency do more work than any single gym session can.

Controversial Case: Accused Murderer and Former Illegal Immigrant Granted Taxpayer-Funded Housing Before Fleeing US

0

An alleged murderer and undocumented immigrant, who escaped from the United States last month, was granted a 48-hour leave from a Virginia mental facility; it has surfaced that he had been previously permitted unsupervised departures, staying in an apartment funded by taxpayers during these breaks.

On July 6, Abdulloi Doniyor Toshpulodzoda departed the U.S. during a weekend leave, taking a one-way flight from Washington Dulles International Airport back to Tajikistan, his home country, with a layover in Istanbul. Court documents reveal the Turkish Airlines ticket was issued in his name and paid for using an American Express card.

Toshpulodzoda, despite facing murder charges, was allowed temporary release from the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI). During these 48-hour leaves, he stayed at a taxpayer-supported apartment in Alexandria provided by the Fairfax Permanent Supportive Housing Program, as indicated by court filings.

Back in 2019, Toshpulodzoda tragically killed Mohammad Hemmatian by stabbing him inside his residence in Vienna, Virginia. When the police arrived, they found Toshpulodzoda at the scene, covered in blood.

He was ultimately found not guilty by reason of insanity of second-degree murder and committed to a state psychiatric facility in 2022. To be found legally insane, a defense expert, and then a separate, independent expert for the prosecution evaluated the defendant, Laura Birnbaum, chief of staff for Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano, told News Media.

If the prosecution’s expert also finds the defendant to be legally insane, there is functionally no way to get a conviction at trial, Birnbaum added.

As recently as June, a judge determined that Toshpulodzoda “shall not be released from custody and inpatient hospitalization without further order of this court.”

However, Virginia state law permits certain patients committed to psychiatric facilities — including those accused of violent crimes — to receive temporary day or weekend passes.

NVMHI’s Internal Forensic Privileging Committee approved Toshpulodzoda for unaccompanied community visits, allowing him to leave the facility without hospital staff for up to 48 hours at a time. Because this authorization remained in place, he was legally permitted to make unsupervised visits in the period leading up to his escape.

In May 2024, Toshpulodzoda was granted permission to visit the Tajikistan Embassy in Washington, D.C., with an escort to obtain a passport.

In a post on X, former Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, a Republican, put much of the blame for  Toshpulodzoda’s escape on Descano, beginning with his trip to Washington to get his passport.

“A judge said no, Virginia authorities said yes anyway. Fairfax’s Steve Descano supported a violent, committed man accused of killing his landlord to obtain a passport,” Miyares wrote. “The passport request should have been the five-alarm fire, but instead it (was) ignored and he was allowed to walk out of a mental facility and flee the country. This is an unconscionable level of incompetence.”

News Media reached out for comment to the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

On Aug. 5 — a month after Toshpulodzoda fled the country — the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office asked a judge to issue an arrest warrant.

“Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda was found by clinicians to be insane at the time he killed Mohammad Hemmatian, a legal finding that means the Commonwealth would be unable to secure a conviction at trial,” the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Prosecutors noted that they opposed his release during annual review hearings in June.

The office added that a bench warrant was issued immediately after it had learned he had escaped custody, ensuring that if he reenters the U.S., he will be arrested and extradited to Virginia.

Toshpulodzoda entered the U.S. on Dec. 15, 2009, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told News Media. He violated the terms of his admission, DHS said, losing his status to remain in the U.S.

“Against our nation’s laws, he failed to depart when he no longer had permission to remain in the country,” the agency spokesperson said.

Bishop Oyedepo Clarifies Funding Sources for His Aircraft

Bishop David Oyedepo, the influential founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, recently addressed the public regarding his financial standing and ownership of four private jets, firmly asserting that no church funds were used in their acquisition.

In his remarks, Oyedepo shed light on the topic of wealth acquisition, emphasizing that individuals can achieve financial prosperity through legitimate means without succumbing to unethical methods.

Reflecting on his personal journey, the prominent cleric revealed that while it took him a while to purchase his first brand-new car, his aerial endeavors commenced much sooner.

Oyedepo explains how he acquired his planes

Commenting on his substantial assets, Bishop Oyedepo remarked, “It took me time to drive the first new car, but it didn’t take me time to start flying.”

Further clarifying his stance, he added, “I’ve never taken a dime from this church to buy any of my planes, and I have 4 planes. I use anyone I like if one is faulty.”

Oyedepo also urged people to pursue legitimate means of building wealth, warning against relying on activities he described as destructive shortcuts.

The Living Faith Church founder further cautioned his audience against drug-related activities and betting as supposed routes to financial success.

He said, “You don’t have to do drugs or NaijaBet. Wealth gotten by vanity shall diminish.”

His comments have drawn attention because of his disclosure about owning four planes and his explanation that church funds were not used to purchase them.

The remarks have also renewed discussions about wealth, entrepreneurship and the sources of income of prominent Nigerian religious figures.

Australia and Thailand Unite in Crackdown on Criminal Networks

0

In a significant move to fortify their partnership, the leaders of Australia and Thailand have pledged to intensify collaborative efforts against transnational crime, while simultaneously promising to enhance both defense and trade relations.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul embarked on his inaugural visit to Australia since assuming office in late 2025. On Wednesday, he held talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra.

During their discussions, both leaders consented to strengthen their joint commitments in combating transnational crime. They have instructed their respective law enforcement bodies to proactively “disrupt increasingly sophisticated global criminal networks,” as highlighted in a joint communiqué released after the meeting.

In addition to these efforts, both nations decided to upgrade their security cooperation, agreeing on a biannual meeting schedule for their defense ministers to further enhance strategic collaboration.

Offering a boon to Australia’s energy security, Prime Minister Albanese revealed that Thailand had extended a “generous offer” to supply jet fuel. This offer comes at a crucial time when global energy markets are reeling from supply-chain disturbances stemming from the ongoing US-led conflict with Iran.

“Building on the strong economic ties is a top priority for my government,” he told reporters.

“Times of uncertainty call for greater global cooperation between partners who are reliable and dependable, and friends.”

In 2027, Australia and Thailand will mark 75 years since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries.

Anutin said: “I’m confident that our strategic partnership will remain an enduring foundation for Thailand and Australia … and bring our countries and peoples even closer together.”

“I extend my sincere appreciation once again to my dear Prime Minister Albanese and the Australian people for their warm hospitality.”

The bid to crack down on transnational crime comes after Thailand tries to alleviate its reputation for being a hotspot for grey money — illicit capital that crosses borders.

The nation is an international hub for online scam work which fleeces millions of dollars from Australians each year.

Vulnerable Thai locals are often imprisoned by criminal syndicates on the outskirts of Bangkok to run the centres.

The Australian Federal Police was involved in a 2025 investigation that led to the arrest of five Australians, as well as United Kingdom, Canadian and South African nationals, operating a scam Bangkok “boiler room”.

That announcement also came hours after Thai police confirmed the cause of death of a Thai woman allegedly murdered by an Australian man in June.

The Thai teenager, Tunchanok Donhomla, was allegedly suffocated, according to a police autopsy report seen by the ABC.

Thai police told ABC News that, on the basis of evidence collected, they now believed the investigation was reaching its completion.

Australian National University associate professor Greg Raymond said that while Thailand was not a key priority for Australia, the visit came at an opportune time to strengthen the relationship.

“This is a country wanting to diversify its trade. Australia is seen as a desirable partner that’s not the United States and not China. It helps create other options for trade,” he said.

Australia has substantial existing trade deals with Thailand, exporting about $1 billion of natural gas and more than $700 million in petroleum annually.

In return, Australia buys roughly $6.5 billion worth of new cars from the nation each year.

But those deals are eclipsed by China, with which Thailand had a US$46.22 billion ($65 billion) trade deficit in the first half of 2026.

The Southeast Asian nation is now in talks to lessen the deficit through increased self-sufficiency and reliance on alternative nations.

Harriet Hageman Clinches Victory in Wyoming GOP Senate Primary with Trump’s Endorsement

0

Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) has just inched closer to becoming Wyoming’s next senator following a decisive victory in Tuesday’s Republican primary. Garnering support from former President Donald Trump, Hageman secured a commanding 63 percent of the vote.

Hageman first rose to prominence in 2022 after she ousted Liz Cheney to earn her place in the U.S. House of Representatives. She has since gained national recognition for her staunch opposition to federal overreach, particularly concerning Wyoming’s water and property rights.

In the primary, Hageman bested four challengers: Jill Edwards, John Holtz, Sam Mead, and Jimmy Skovgard.

Trump’s endorsement came swiftly after Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) declared at the end of last year that she wouldn’t seek reelection, leaving the seat open.

“I am well-acquainted with Harriet, and she is a TOTAL WINNER! Harriet has consistently delivered for Wyoming, and she will continue to do so in the United States Senate,” Trump expressed on Truth Social in December 2025.

Hageman’s 2022 campaign against Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) led to record turnout in that year’s primary, whereby she defeated Cheney by 37 points. She told – News Cheney lost because she remained focused on President Trump rather than issues important to Wyoming voters, including inflation, illegal immigration, and energy.

Wyoming has not elected a Democrat senator since 1970.

Ohio Recycling Facility Explosions: Tragedy Strikes With Two Dead, Multiple Injured

0

In a tragic incident that unfolded early Tuesday morning, two individuals lost their lives and several suffered injuries following a series of explosions at an industrial recycling plant in Toledo, Ohio. The powerful blasts ignited a significant blaze, sending ominous plumes of dense, black smoke drifting across the region, according to local authorities.

The explosions rocked Brent Industries just before the clock struck 5 a.m., coinciding with a shift transition, as reported by Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong through The Associated Press. The timing compounded the chaos as workers were either arriving or leaving the facility.

In the hours that followed, firefighters, battling both flames and debris, discovered the lifeless bodies of one male and one female employee inside the wrecked structure. While the tragedy claimed these lives, it left two to three other employees with minor injuries, highlighting the harrowing ordeal they experienced.

Footage from the disaster-stricken site revealed fierce flames consuming sections of the facility as emergency responders worked diligently to control the situation, their efforts framed by the roaring fire.

Aerial images showed extensive destruction, with nearly all of the roof gone and several walls blown out, according to The Associated Press.

Armstrong said crews initially faced hazardous materials, runoff and the threat of additional explosions as they searched for victims and accounted for employees.

Environmental officials said air monitoring detected no hazardous threat.

Demetrius Langston, who was about half a mile away, said he felt the force of the blasts.

The explosions occurred shortly before 5 a.m. at Brent Industries during a shift change, Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong said.

“The shock waves came down the block,” he said. “Then we all heard it again. Boom! You could feel it.”

The fire continued burning into Tuesday afternoon, and officials said there were no preliminary indications of what caused the explosions.

Authorities urged residents who could see or smell smoke to stay away from the area and keep their windows and doors closed.

Brent Industries, based in Alabama, provides textile reconditioning and industrial recycling services and uses mineral spirits in its cleaning process, according to The Associated Press.

Fire officials said tanks containing the petroleum-based solvent were at the Toledo facility, though their role in Tuesday’s explosions remains unknown.

The company has a history of deadly accidents and safety violations, The Associated Press reported.

A 2015 explosion at its Alabama plant killed one worker after mineral spirit vapors ignited inside a washing machine. OSHA later cited the company for six violations and fined it $27,000.

Brent Industries could not immediately be reached by News Media for comment.

Stop Harassment Over Explicit Video: Essential Advice Here

0

DEAR ABBY: Several years ago, I began receiving distressing phone calls from an unknown man who claimed to have explicit videos of me. I have no idea where such footage could possibly have come from. In an attempt to put an end to the harassment, I changed my phone number; however, the man managed to obtain my new contact information and continued the disturbing calls.

Over time, the incessant phone calls ceased, and I’ve been free from them for many years. However, I recently received a Facebook friend request from a suspicious account lacking any profile details. This person then messaged me, referencing a video and bombarding me with inappropriate sexual remarks. In response, I took the drastic step of deleting all my social media accounts.

My concern is this: What if there actually exists a video of which I am unaware? How should I proceed if such a video is leaked to the public? — SCARED AND EMBARRASSED

DEAR SCARED AND EMBARRASSED: The experiences you’ve described constitute harassment and potential extortion. It’s crucial for you to report these incidents to law enforcement authorities. I believe the existence of a video is highly unlikely and suspect this could be part of a broader scam.

Nevertheless, if a video does exist and is released, I suggest maintaining your dignity and responding confidently to inquiries. You can acknowledge that, like many adults worldwide, you have a personal life. This approach will also help in identifying who created such content, providing you with more evidence to present to the authorities.

DEAR ABBY: I am 70. My sister is 68, and her husband is 80. He has kidney failure and needs 24/7 care. Our mother is 98. She lives independently in a condo and is mentally fully functional, but she can’t cook or do housekeeping anymore. (She has cleaning help.)

My sister and I take turns making Mom warm meals, and my sister also does some light housekeeping. It takes one to two hours. My sister does this three times a week while her husband is at dialysis at a nearby facility. She also has my mother’s medical and financial powers of attorney and prefers to be the one to take care of things.

I am in fairly good health but have some medical issues that may eventually make it difficult (or even impossible) to travel. This fall, I plan to go to Europe for three weeks. I would like to have someone come in to help my mom three times a week while I am gone. I would introduce this person ahead of time so that Mom could get to know them and I could show them what needs to be done.

Unfortunately, Mom doesn’t want anyone other than my sister and me to care for her. My sister’s plate is already more than full, so I don’t want to add to it. Is it unreasonable of me to expect my mother to accept outside help? — PERPLEXED IN PENNSYLVANIA

DEAR PERPLEXED: Your plan is not unreasonable, but it’s common for someone your mother’s age to resist change. Remind her that the clock is ticking on your travel opportunities, and emphasize that the arrangement is only temporary. Tell her you will call to check in while you’re away, and promise to bring back lots of photos and stories to share with her when you resume your normal caregiving routine.
