How Respect Cemented an Unbreakable Bond: Charly Boy and Obasanjo’s Remarkable Friendship

  • Charly Boy, a well-known entertainer and activist, has formed an unexpected friendship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
  • Their relationship is based on mutual respect, understanding, and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s future.
  • Charly Boy is recognized for his bold style and criticism of the government.

The iconic entertainer and social activist, Charly Boy, has shed light on his surprising camaraderie with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, attributing it to a foundation of mutual respect, understanding, and a unified vision for Nigeria’s future.

Charly Boy, known for his daring style and forthright criticism of governmental actions, revealed on the social media platform X that the bond he shares with Obasanjo has left many Nigerians taken aback.

“People often wondered how someone who regularly challenges authority could have such a connection with a former president,” he reflected. “Life isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes respect and understanding can create bonds where least expected.”

He went on to explain that Obasanjo values his courage, consistency, and steadfast commitment to the truth—qualities that others might easily overlook. In return, Charly Boy regards Obasanjo not merely as a former head of state but as an elder who has weathered wars, the weight of leadership, and numerous national crises with admirable fortitude.

Charly Boy noted that Obasanjo appreciated traits in him that are often overlooked by others courage, consistency, and an unwavering dedication to truth. Likewise, Charly Boy sees Obasanjo not only as a former leader but as an elder who has endured wars, leadership pressures, and national challenges with remarkable resilience.

He emphasized that their friendship is both private and meaningful, centered on Nigeria’s pressing matters. While debates and disagreements arise, mutual respect remains unwavering. “We may argue or differ in opinion, but respect is always there,” Charly Boy explained.

A highlight of their relationship came when Obasanjo personally hosted the launch of Charly Boy’s autobiography, 999. Reflecting on the occasion, the entertainer described it as the most important moment of his career, far beyond a simple book release. “It wasn’t about selling books,” he said. “It was about recognition an elder acknowledging me and saying, ‘I see you.’”

Charly Boy believes their friendship serves as proof that even in a divided nation, meaningful connections are possible. “When two strong individuals choose respect over ego, it sets a powerful example for others,” he concluded.

Security Breach at Mar-a-Lago: How Gunman Austin Tucker Martin Exploited Employee Exit

0

The shocking incident involving a 21-year-old suspect at Mar-a-Lago unfolded as new details emerged about how he gained access to the exclusive club. On Monday, it was disclosed that the intruder, carrying a shotgun and a gas canister, managed to enter the premises by slipping through an exit gate used by employees leaving the property.

Austin Tucker Martin met a tragic end when Secret Service agents shot and killed him after he allegedly refused to lower his weapon and appeared to take a threatening stance at President Trump’s resort on Sunday.

The Secret Service confirmed Martin’s unauthorized entry, clarifying that it occurred as an employee gate opened to allow staff to exit. This clarification comes amid earlier reports from Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, who initially suggested Martin had entered near the north gate, a separate entrance to the resort.

Surveillance by the Secret Service picked up Martin’s movements as he approached the club on foot, leading to the fatal confrontation. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about security at high-profile estates.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the FBI for comment after they took over the investigation.

Martin was killed at around 1.30am on Sunday at Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, Florida, after entering with a gas can and a shotgun, according to the Secret Service.

He was confronted by two Secret Service agents and a deputy with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department.

He pointed the shotgun at them, and was quickly neutralized by the officers.

Martin was reported missing by his family and was believed to have picked up the shotgun on his way down south.

A spokesperson said that a box for the weapon was found inside Martin’s car, which his family identified as a 2013 silver Volkswagen Tiguan.

No Secret Service or deputies with the sheriff’s officer were injured.

His family said on Facebook that Martin was last heard from on Saturday just before 8pm after he left his $1.1million home in Cameron, North Carolina, at around 1pm.

‘This is not like him at all,’ his devastated aunt wrote.

Martin lived with his parents at the secluded, countryside home – and the young man had a fascination with drawing golf courses in his spare time, an Instagram account linked to him showed.

Braeden Fields, Martin’s cousin, reacted with disbelief, calling Martin ‘quiet’ and saying his family was almost entirely in favor of Trump.

‘We are big Trump supporters, all of us. Everybody,’ Fields said, but his cousin was ‘real quiet, never really talked about anything.’

Martin himself was also allegedly a Trump supporter, expressing his belief in Trump as recently as late last year, anonymous co-workers told TMZ.

However, a text message uncovered by the outlet shows that Martin may have been influenced by the Department of Justice’s release of the files related to dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

President Trump has never been charged with any involvement in any wrongdoing involving Epstein and has long said he cut ties with the financier over 20 years ago.

Co-workers said that Martin – who was open about his Christian faith – was fixated on the Epstein saga and said he would talk about the elites ‘getting away with it.’

They also described him as becoming increasingly frustrated by the state of the US economy and having fruitlessly tried to start a union at his place of work.

However, Fields described Martin as quiet, afraid of guns and from a family of avid Trump supporters.

US Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X: ‘In the middle of the night while most Americans were asleep, the United States Secret Service acted quickly and decisively to neutralize a crazy person, armed with a gun and a gas canister, who intruded on the President Trump’s home.

Donald Trump says ‘I have a lot of people gunning for me, don’t I?’ during a White House event with angel families on Monday, February 23, 2026

‘Federal law enforcement are working 24/7 to keep our country safe and protect all Americans. It’s shameful and reckless that Democrats have chosen to shut down their department.’

The president and First Lady Melania Trump were not at the Mar-a-Lago estate over the weekend. Instead, they were both at The White House at the time of the incident.

The FBI asked residents to review home security footage for any content that may help investigators.

A motive for the breach remains unclear as law enforcement continues to investigate. Bradshaw, when asked if Martin was known by police, said ‘not right now’.

The incident occurred just miles from Trump’s West Palm Beach club where a man tried to assassinate him while he played golf during his 2024 campaign.

Ryan Routh was spotted hiding in the shrubbery with a rifle by a Secret Service agent.

The gunman was found guilty last year and sentenced this month to life in prison.

Trump also survived an assassination attempt at a Butler, Pennsylvania campaign rally. That gunman fired eight shots before being killed by a Secret Service counter sniper.

Five days ago, a Georgia man armed with a shotgun was arrested as he sprinted towards the west side of the US Capitol.

Trump  spoke out for the first time since an armed man was shot and killed after breaching the perimeter at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.

‘I don’t know how long I’ll be around,’ Trump said. ‘I have a lot of people gunning for me, don’t I?’

Missing Mother Reunites with Family After 24-Year Disappearance

Authorities have announced the remarkable discovery of a North Carolina woman who vanished over 20 years ago. This breakthrough finally concludes a 24-year-long investigation.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Michelle Hundely Smith, who went missing in December 2001, was found on February 20 in North Carolina. This development came after detectives uncovered fresh leads in her case.

Smith was 38 when her husband alerted the authorities, saying she had left their Eden residence on December 9, 2001, for a Christmas shopping trip to Martinsville, Virginia, but never came back. Her car remained missing throughout the investigation.

The search for Smith was extensive, drawing in multiple law enforcement agencies from North Carolina and Virginia. This included the State Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Despite years of investigative work, her whereabouts remained unknown until last week, when Sgt. A. Disher and Detective C. Worley made contact with Smith at an “undisclosed location within North Carolina alive and well,” after receiving a tip.

At her request, officials said her current location will not be disclosed. Her family has been notified that she has been located and informed of her wishes.

The motive for her disappearance remains unknown.

“The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere gratitude to the many agencies and investigators who dedicated substantial time, resources, and unwavering determination to this case over the years,” the agency wrote on Facebook.

“Their persistence and commitment ultimately led to the locating of Michelle Hundely Smith and is a testament to the dedication of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Criminal Investigations Division, and the many other Law Enforcement agencies that have assisted throughout the years.”

For years, Smith’s cousin Barbara Byrd searched for answers about her whereabouts, with her family even turning to true crime podcasts and television shows to keep her name in the news.

“I kind of want to go outside and scream, ‘she’s alive, she’s alive,’” Byrd told WFMY

“For years, we didn’t know if we were grieving or waiting,” she added.

However, the reality that Smith has been alive and well for 24 years has reportedly left Byrd with conflicting feelings about how to proceed.

“My biggest question is to her… what happened all those years ago in December? What made you leave? What happened?” Byrd said.

While Byrd is relieved that her cousin was found, the reality that Smith does not want her location shared is adding a new layer of confusion within the family, though she insists she is choosing to be grateful.

“I understand and respect that she doesn’t want any of us to contact her,” Byrd told WFMY. “I’m not angry.”

“The biggest answer I had today was [that] she was alive. Nothing else matters right at this moment,” she said.

Smith’s daughter Amanda told the outlet she had only been recently informed of the development regarding her mother’s whereabouts and is still processing the news.

“As far as my opinions and feelings on my mom, I am ecstatic, I am p—-ed, I am heartbroken, I am all over the map! Will I have a relationship once more with my mom?” Smith’s daughter said in the statement posted to a Facebook account used to help find her missing mother.

“Honestly, I can’t answer that because I don’t even know. My initial reaction would be yes, absolutely, but then I think of all the hurt,” she added. “But even then, my mom is only human, just as we all are.”

Matt Lauer Declines Opportunity to Speak Out on ‘Cancellation’ to Armie Hammer’s Mother, Sources Reveal

Matt Lauer has opted to remain silent rather than participate in discussions about his departure from the public sphere. This decision was revealed by Rob Shuter in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Monday, February 23.

Sources told Shuter that Armie Hammer’s mother, Dru, offered the disgraced Today host, 68, a chance to tell his side of the story on her new podcast, Hollywood and Divine, in which she offers a platform to people who “have been through major traumas, major trials, maybe canceled, and they had no voice,” she said in an Instagram post on Sunday, February 22.

According to an insider, Lauer declined an opportunity because he believes that speaking out would be detrimental rather than beneficial. “He’s not interested in joining a ‘canceled men’ redemption tour,” the source explained.

A media insider further elaborated on Lauer’s strategy, stating, “Matt’s approach has always been to maintain silence. He thinks that the more you talk about these issues, the more attention they get.” The source also mentioned that participating in “podcasts hosted by moms of men still battling scandal” would not be wise for him.

Gary Neville Urges Manchester United to Seek New Manager Amid Concerns Over Michael Carrick’s Appointment

0

Gary Neville has advised Manchester United against naming Michael Carrick as their permanent manager, emphasizing the importance of selecting the most qualified candidate available.

Since stepping in as head coach in January following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, Carrick has been steering the Red Devils. His current contract concludes at the season’s end.

Under Carrick’s leadership, United have enjoyed a remarkable run, securing victories in five out of six Premier League clashes and drawing once. This impressive performance has catapulted them to fourth place, just three points shy of Aston Villa, who are in third.

Although Carrick’s success has sparked calls for his extended tenure, Neville, his former teammate, believes otherwise. He argues that the club should seek a manager with the most impressive credentials.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football before United’s 1-0 triumph over Everton, Neville stated, “Manchester United need to consider another managerial option now, given the uncertainty of future results.”

Gary Neville believes Michael Carrick (centre) shouldn't be given the full-time Man United job

Gary Neville believes Michael Carrick (centre) shouldn’t be given the full-time Man United job

‘Little things like [Thomas] Tuchel re-signing with England does start to take away the options for Manchester United and they don’t harm Michael’s chances of getting the job. If he gets United into the Champions League there will be a lot of fever around that he should be appointed.

‘I’m not against him being appointed, I love him to bits and think that he’s done an incredible job so far. I just feel that Manchester United should go for the best class of manager available.

‘They’ve had young and inexperienced managers in the last two picks which have not quite worked. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come in before as an ex-player who did a very good job for a couple of years but that didn’t work in the end. So I just feel removing as much risk as possible is the right option.

‘But people who know me will know that’s not personal against Michael because I love him to bits. He’s a great lad, a great player and someone who’s doing a very good job as a coach now.’

Despite his reluctance to give Carrick the job, Neville does believe the 44-year-old will steer them to Champions League qualification come May.

‘There was a period for about five or six weeks where they played games where you kept thinking they could go into the top four and they didn’t. And now they are, they’ve got an incredible opportunity to finish in the top four,’ he said on the Gary Neville Podcast.

‘I think they will. The other teams start playing in Europe, they’ve got distractions. United haven’t got any distractions.

‘That doesn’t mean anything; they’ve had no game for two weeks and haven’t played particularly well here [at Everton] but I just think they’re now starting to get over the line in games where they wouldn’t have done before.

‘I think they could finish third, I really do think they could finish third. I said a couple of weeks ago I thought Villa might just get pulled back a little bit.

‘These teams [Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool] have got European football in front of them and that’s a big distraction. Manchester United don’t have that and I think they’re in a decent place.

‘You look at the players out there, they go over to celebrate, they look like they’re in a decent sort of mood. They’re winning when they play well, they’re winning when they don’t play well, they’re picking up a point when they didn’t play well at West Ham, so all the right things are starting to happen.

‘They’ve hit a really good run, I do think they’ll finish third or fourth.

‘I’ve probably said at times in this last three months: Manchester United have no chance of finishing the Champions League, but this is just a bizarre season.

‘Teams are dropping points: Chelsea dropped points against Burnley on Saturday, Villa dropped points, Liverpool obviously did win in the end, but yeah I think United get there now and that’ll be a big move in terms of where they were last season.

‘I think it’d be a big move to get into Champions League, considering where they were a few weeks ago, obviously when they sack a manager and you don’t think for the life of you that they can go and beat Arsenal and Manchester City and everyone else that they’ve beaten in this last few weeks. It’s been an incredible points total that’s been pulled together.

‘And I think they’re now, I won’t say clear favourites to finish in the top four, but they are in pole position.’

Body of Woman Discovered in Ipswich Home After Two Weeks

Detectives investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in an Ipswich home last Thursday believe she had been dead for two weeks before her body was found.
Katherine Sanowski, a 42-year-old woman from Springfield, did not live at the Bellbird Park home on Beryl Court where she was found but was known to the sole occupant, a 34-year-old man who was found by police nearby.

Last Thursday, police were dispatched to a street following reports of a disturbance at approximately 11:30 a.m. involving a man disrupting traffic.

The body of Katherine Sanowski was found in a home in Bellbird Park, a suburb of Ipswich, last week. Police are treating her death as a homicide. (Instagram)

Detective Inspector Michael Manago announced that the death in question is being investigated as a homicide.

“The post-mortem examination has revealed some suspicious elements regarding the death, prompting us to treat it as a homicide investigation,” stated Manago.

He further mentioned that their ongoing investigations indicate the deceased had been in the residence for about two weeks, dating back to early February.

Manago also noted that while the individuals involved were acquainted, they were not related.

“The dynamics of their relationship remain a key topic of our investigation,” he said.

“We don’t believe there’s anyone else involved but we’re keeping an open mind.”

Sanowski had not been reported missing and there had been no reports of domestic violence between the pair.

Her family has been notified, Manago said, and are “quite distressed”.

The 34-year-old man is undergoing a medical assessment in hospital. He is not under arrest and is yet to speak with investigators.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious at the property or who may have relevant CCTV to come forward.

Police also wish to speak with anyone who knew Sanowski or had any dealing with her in early February.

Mandelson’s Unexpected Late-Night Questioning Puts Starmer on Edge as MPs React 167 Days Post PM’s Confidence in Disgraced Ex-Ambassador

0

Keir Starmer finds himself navigating a new wave of trouble today as he attempts to manage discontent within the Labour Party following the arrest of Lord Mandelson.

The Prime Minister is under pressure to ensure ‘maximum accountability’ after the influential New Labour figure was apprehended by police at his London residence. The arrest, which took place at the unusual hour of 4:15 pm, has sparked curiosity and concern.

After being interrogated until the early morning, the peer was released on bail regarding allegations of leaking sensitive information to the controversial financier Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as business secretary.

This development poses a significant challenge to Sir Keir’s efforts to solidify his leadership, especially after a recent coup attempt nearly unseated him just two weeks ago.

Controversy swirls among MPs following his controversial decision to appoint Lord Mandelson as the US ambassador, despite awareness of Mandelson’s long-standing connections to Epstein. Merely 167 days ago, Starmer expressed ‘full confidence’ in the peer, only to dismiss him shortly thereafter.

Shortly before the arrest Sir Keir made his first visit to Gorton & Denton, where Labour is desperately trying to hold on in a crucial by-election on Thursday.

Earlier, Sir Keir had used an email to his MPs to promise to ‘listen’ to them more and change the ‘culture’ in Downing Street. He has already signalled a lurch to the Left as he struggles to survive.

Labour backbencher Bell Ribeiro-Addy said last night that there had been ‘issues of poor judgment’ and it was damaging politics across the spectrum.

‘What we need to get to a point of now is trying to get to a point of maximum accountability,’ she told Channel 4 News.

‘There should be a wide-ranging investigation into all these things.

‘The major issue has been the damage of trust between us and the British public, and they need to feel that something’s being done about it.’

Lord Mandelson was led away by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Special Investigations Team – the unit dubbed the Yard’s ‘Celeb Squad’ – on suspicion of misconduct in public office yesterday afternoon.

Nine hours later at around 1.15am the 72-year-old was pictured as he was driven out of Wandsworth Police Station.

He left the station in a black car accompanied by three other people but shortly after arrived home in a London black cab. He remained silent and downcast as he walked into his house.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘A 72-year-old man arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office has been released on bail pending further investigation.

‘He was arrested at an address in Camden on Monday, 23 February and was taken to a London police station for interview.

‘This follows search warrants at two addresses in the Wiltshire and Camden areas.

‘We are not able to provide further information at this stage to prevent prejudicing the integrity of the investigation.’

The Government had yesterday pledged to release documents relating to the appointment of Lord Mandelson as US ambassadoe.

MPs were told that the first bundle would be published ‘very shortly in early March’. But Mandelson’s arrest has now cast doubt over that timeline.

Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Darren Jones said Scotland Yard had advised against releasing some exchanges between Downing Street and the Labour grandee for fear of prejudicing any potential prosecution.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch said: ‘Mandelson’s arrest is the defining moment of Keir Starmer’s premiership.

‘It wasn’t long ago the PM looked me in the eye at PMQs and said he had ‘full confidence’ in Mandelson.

‘Time to release the Mandelson files in full. We must know who knew what and when. No more delays.’

In his email to MPs, Sir Keir committed to hosting more ‘policy roundtables’ in No10 and said advice would be ‘taken seriously and acted upon’.

‘I recognise this is not simply about process, it is about culture,’ he added, according to the i newspaper.

Teen Charged in Tragic Cruise Ship Death of Anna Kepner, Reports Reveal

0

A recent report has revealed that Anna Kepner’s 16-year-old stepbrother faces charges related to her tragic death.

Eighteen-year-old Florida cheerleader Kepner was found dead after being strangled in a chokehold. Her body was discovered by a cleaning crew beneath the bed in the cabin she shared with her stepbrother on the Carnival Horizon cruise ship last November.

The teenager, who allegedly had an unhealthy fixation on the high school senior, was initially considered a suspect. New court documents, which were reviewed by WESH, confirm that charges have now been filed against him.

The documents are part of a legal battle over custody between his father, Thomas Hudson, and his ex-wife, Shauntel Kepner.

In these documents, Hudson seeks sole custody of the stepbrother, who has been residing with Shauntel and her current husband, Chris, since the incident on the cruise ship.

“According to social media from the Kepner family, on Feb. 3, 2026, the petitioner/father’s son was charged by the United States Attorney in the Southern District for Florida for… and homicide of Anna Kepner,” the doc filed last Friday says.

“Immediately after the cruise, the respondent/mother and Chris Kepner expelled [the minor ] from their household and neither has seen [the minor] since then.

“Social media from the Kepner family has indicated that they want the ‘nails in the coffin’ of [the minor] and that both the Kepner family and the Respondent ‘want him buried,” according to the document.

The FBI hasn’t formally named Kepner’s stepbrother a suspect and there is a case against the boy under seal, according to CBS News.

Earlier this month, he appeared before a federal judge in Miami and was seen donning a camouflage zip-up as he walked to another courthouse. He was then processed for pre-trial release.

Kepner’s body was found wrapped in a blanket and covered with life vests after she was killed.

Krystal Wright, her aunt, said she “fought for her life” in her final moments, as reported by the Fox affiliate WOFL.

Kepner’s younger biological brother reportedly heard yelling and chairs being thrown in the room she was sharing with her stepbrother.

“He heard [the stepbrother] yelling at her in a harmful way of like ‘shut the hell up’ and stuff like that and that’s when [the brother] knew there was something going on,” Kepner’s ex-boyfriend Joshua Tew told Inside Edition last year, recalling the harrowing moments.

Kepner’s younger brother ended up sleeping just feet away from his sister’s lifeless body before she was found.

Kepner, who was set to graduate high school this year and had aspirations of joining the Navy, was last seen alive at a family dinner on Nov. 6 – the day before she died in international waters – and went back to her room because she was feeling unwell.

Carnival Cruise Line previously said it is cooperating in the law enforcement investigation.

New Zealand Approves Removal of Andrew from Royal Succession List

0
New Zealand's Prime Minister has said he will back any plans to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of royal succession. It comes as British ministers are understood to be considering legislation to remove Andrew from the line of succession once a police investigation has concluded. Christopher Luxon's announcement that he would support removing the shamed former prince came after Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese vowed to do the same. A spokesperson for Mr Luxon, New Zealand's premier, said: 'If the UK Government proposes to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the order of succession, New Zealand would support it. The UK Government has said any proposals would come after the police investigation concludes.'

New Zealand’s Prime Minister has expressed support for efforts to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession. This announcement aligns with discussions among British officials considering legislation for his removal following the conclusion of a police investigation. Christopher Luxon, New Zealand’s Prime Minister, conveyed his stance after Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, made a similar commitment. “If the UK Government proposes to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the order of succession, New Zealand would support it,” a spokesperson for Luxon stated. The UK Government has indicated that any such proposals would be addressed after the police probe is completed.

The dominion dominoes

The former Duke of York was dramatically arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Thursday, with police raiding his properties in Sandringham, Norfolk and Windsor, Berkshire. Andrew is accused of sharing sensitive information with financier Jeffrey Epstein while he was working as the UK's trade envoy. He was released under investigation after 11 hours of questioning, with searches of his former Royal Lodge home in Windsor continuing today. Andrew is currently eighth in line to the throne, behind Prince William and his three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, and Prince Harry and his two children, Archie and Lilibet. In a letter to his UK counterpart, Australian PM Anthony Albanese wrote: 'In light of recent events concerning Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, I am writing to confirm that my government would agree to any proposal to remove him from the line of royal succession.'

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote to his UK counterpart, affirming that his government would support any move to remove Andrew from the line of succession, given recent developments.

The commonwealth first

'I agree with His Majesty that the law must now take its full course and there must be a full, fair and proper investigation. These are grave allegations and Australians take them seriously.' Asked about the letter, Sir Keir Starmer's official spokesman said: 'The Government has received the letter. We are considering whether further steps are required in relation to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and we are not ruling anything out. But given the ongoing police investigation it would not be appropriate for the Government to comment further at this stage.' He added that Australia was the first of the other 14 Commonwealth realms to have indicated it would support removing Andrew from the line of succession.

“I agree with His Majesty that the law must now take its full course, ensuring a thorough and fair investigation,” Albanese stated. “These are serious allegations, and Australians regard them with gravity.” In response to inquiries about the letter, Sir Keir Starmer’s official spokesperson confirmed receipt, noting that the matter is under review. “The Government is considering whether further steps are necessary concerning Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and we are not ruling anything out,” the spokesperson mentioned. However, due to the ongoing investigation, additional comments were deemed inappropriate at this time. Australia is the first among the other 14 Commonwealth realms to express support for Andrew’s removal from the succession line.

After Andrew's arrest, King Charles said: 'I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. 'What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. 'Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. 'As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.' The Prince and Princess of Wales are said to support the King's unprecedented statement following the arrest of William's uncle Andrew at Sandringham on Thursday.

It comes as a retired civil servant today claimed Andrew charged taxpayers for massages while working as the UK's trade envoy. The former member of staff, who worked in the UK's trade department in the early 2000s, said the disgraced royal successfully expensed the treatment as well as excessive travel costs during his time in the role between 2001 and 2011. The civil servant alleged he was so annoyed by Andrew's request that he'd refused to pay for the massage, but was 'overruled' by senior staff. 'I thought it was wrong… I'd said we mustn't pay it, but we ended up paying it anyway,' he told the BBC. The Department for Business and Trade declined to comment on the claim. Andrew has always denied any personal gain from his role as trade envoy.

But a former senior Whitehall official, who oversaw finances, said he saw similar expenses for Andrew's trips, adding he had 'absolutely no doubt' about the massage claims. Kemi Badenoch has said the Department for Business and Trade should open its files on Andrew if they relate to 'allegations of misconduct in public office'. The Conservative leader, a former business secretary, was asked if she would support the department opening its files on Andrew, who served as trade envoy between 2001 and 2011. She told the Press Association: 'I'm quite sure that the police will be asking for those files in due course. If they haven't already, there should be full transparency. As trade secretary, I know that the trade envoy rule is quite a low level role. 'Prince Andrew would have been given that because it could open doors, but if there is anything in these allegations of misconduct in public office, then all the files should be released and investigated.'

Mrs Badenoch was also asked if she supported calls from her Tory colleague Tom Tugendhat for a special parliamentary committee aimed at investigating Andrew and Lord Peter Mandelson's links to Epstein. She said it was important to allow the police investigation into Andrew to 'run its course', and added: 'It is extraordinary that right now the King has allowed the law to run its course while the Prime Minister is not releasing any files. 'He sacked the cabinet secretary who was overseeing the release of the files. Parliament has a duty to make sure that the Government is held to account. We should not allow what's happening with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to distract from the fact that the Prime Minister himself has a lot of questions to answer.'
