Shocking Footage: Coyote Attacks Child in Carson Driveway – A Must-See Alert for Local Residents

0

In a startling incident in Carson, California, a young child was attacked by a coyote right in his grandmother’s driveway—a moment that was captured on surveillance footage. The 4-year-old boy was standing near his mother’s car at his grandparents’ home when the unexpected encounter occurred.

The unsettling event unfolded on a Tuesday, as the child’s mother, Sarina Donohoo, was busy unloading supplies from the vehicle. The surveillance video reveals the shocking moment the coyote approached, grabbing the boy and pulling him to the ground.

“Suddenly, I heard him scream,” recounted Donohoo. “I turned around and screamed as well because I saw the coyote on top of him.” Her immediate reaction was to rush to her son’s aid, successfully managing to scoop him up and retreat into the house, causing the coyote to flee.

Reflecting on the frightening encounter, Donohoo expressed her fear, understanding how dire the situation could have become. “I was terrified,” she said. “My first thought was to get him away from the coyote and check if he was alright.”

“I was so scared because I know how bad it could have been,” she said. “My initial response was just I need to get him away and I need to see if he’s okay.”

The child, Solomon, who turned 4 in February, was not seriously injured. He was treated for superficial puncture wounds on one of his legs and on his torso.

The boy’s grandparents live near a school and say coyotes are frequently seen in the neighborhood.

“It hurts my heart that nothing has been done. That there are not protections in place,” said Stephanie Fields, Solomon’s grandmother.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is trying to locate the coyote involved in the incident.

A similar attack happened in Carson last year, when a 6-year-old boy was bitten by a coyote and hospitalized with injuries to his head and legs.

Donohoo said more needs to be done to protect residents.

“We’ve lived with my parents in the past. [The coyotes] been around for years and when we call for help, they’re saying they can’t do anything. I don’t understand why it takes something like this to happen, and thank God he wasn’t injured more,” she said.

Paramore Residents Voice Concerns Over Traffic Chaos as Jaguars’ Relocation to Orlando Looms

ORLANDO, Fla. – As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare for their upcoming games in Orlando, excitement is palpable, but it’s not the only thing on the rise. Concerns are surfacing within the local community as well.

Residents of the Paramore area are bracing themselves for potential gridlock, road closures, and disruptions to their usual Sunday routines due to the influx of football fans.

Local resident Tamara Frazier has already witnessed these challenges firsthand in her neighborhood.

During major events at Camping World Stadium, Paramore’s streets often become congested with traffic, causing backups that can last for hours.

“I usually try to avoid the area during these times,” Frazier explained. “Traffic can come to a standstill, or streets may be blocked, which is quite inconvenient.”

She said what should be a quick trip can turn into a 20-minute delay — or longer.

With the Jaguars set to play some of their home games here next year, she said she is happy the Jags are coming but hopes city leaders are already planning ahead.

“Just the events and the influx of traffic that comes during these times, I do think there is opportunity for expansion just for help to relieve that,” Frazier said.

St. John Baptist Church is right up the street from the stadium. Pastor Rolous Frazier is thrilled about the NFL games but says it also impacts their worship services.

“We just had an event last Tuesday, a soccer event, and a lot of my members couldn’t get here because the road was blocked,” Pastor Frazier said.

He said game days could bring opportunity, such as extra parking revenue for their church, but also challenges.

“It’s going to have a major impact as far as my members getting here early enough so they won’t be bothered by the traffic. So hopefully, I can work something out with the city,” he said.

News 6 reached out to the city about its plans to mitigate traffic. When the station hears back, it will share the response.

Meghan’s Bold Request: The Inside Story of Her Quest to Borrow the Queen’s Diamond Tiara

0

On November 27, 2017, the Prince of Wales joyfully announced the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle. The use of “Ms.” was particularly notable, considering that the Queen had traditionally preferred women to be introduced as either “Miss” or “Mrs.” at garden parties. However, times were changing, and Meghan, as a divorced American actress, had chosen to be addressed as “Ms.”

The introduction of Meghan to the Queen occurred the previous year when Meghan was still residing in Toronto, where her TV show, Suits, was filmed. The meeting was an impromptu affair, taking place at Royal Lodge, the Windsor residence of the Duke of York. During a casual Sunday afternoon, Harry and Meghan were on their way to visit Princess Eugenie when they discovered that the Queen had stopped by after attending church.

In the garden, Sarah, Duchess of York, quickly taught Meghan the art of curtseying before she stepped inside to greet the Queen. Despite later criticism for her light-hearted reenactment of the moment in a Netflix documentary, the brief 20-minute conversation was considered successful. The Queen was pleased to learn about Meghan’s life and career in a Commonwealth nation.

On the day of the engagement announcement, Harry and Meghan posed for formal engagement photos in the garden of Kensington Palace and participated in the traditional television interview.

From the onset, there were hints that this royal engagement would not mirror William and Catherine’s. Unlike their 2010 engagement, where they met the royal press corps over tea at St James’s Palace, Harry and Meghan kept the media at a distance, quite literally, across a pond in the garden on a dreary afternoon with no direct interaction.

In their television interview, the couple had also emphasized a ‘passion’ for ‘change’. The Queen would be more encouraged by the fact that they also talked excitedly about the Commonwealth. Overall, it felt like a very modern romance. St George’s Chapel, Windsor, was booked for May 19, 2018.

Meghan wore Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau, but the loan of the tiara by the Queen led to a row when when the Sussexes rang the Palace to ask the Queen’s dresser and curator, Angela Kelly, to send over the tiara because Meghan wished to practise putting it on

While I have written previous books and documentaries on the monarchy over many years, this is my first entirely retrospective study of Elizabeth II (the others having been written while she was alive). A few weeks from now, she might have been in the delightful position of presenting herself with a 100th birthday card, though it was not to be.

Ahead of her centenary, I have decided to write an entirely new portrait, a more personal response to the eternal question: What was she really like? In doing so, I have unearthed much new material and fresh insights from every stage of her long life – such as the inside story of what has come to be known as ‘tiaragate’.

As the date grew nearer, a series of private and public dramas ensured that the marriage of Harry and Meghan would be quite unlike any previous royal wedding.

The couple had asked Princess Charlotte to be a bridesmaid, but tensions between Meghan and the Duchess of Cambridge over the bridesmaids’ dresses would reduce both women to tears.

Another pre-wedding row, which would continue to create headlines years after the wedding, concerned Meghan’s choice of tiara. The Queen much enjoyed offering a piece from her own tiara collection to a royal bride, when required.

She had not done so for Diana, who had wanted to wear the Spencer family tiara. Nor had she done so for Sarah Ferguson before her wedding to Prince Andrew, since the Queen herself commissioned a brand-new piece, known as the ‘York’ tiara, for the future Duchess of York (who continued to retain it after her divorce).

However, other brides would be invited to borrow one. ‘Her Majesty would pick out a small selection which she thought would suit that bride and ask her round to try them on and choose one,’ said a former staffer.

‘It was her lovely way of bonding with the bride. She did it with Sophie [Rhys-Jones] and with Catherine [Middleton]. But there wasn’t that bonding with Meghan because she turned up with Prince Harry.’

No one was entirely sure why the Prince had to come, too. His memoir suggests that it was a joint invitation; insiders say otherwise.

As Harry later wrote himself, it was a magical experience and Meghan had a clear favourite – Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau. However, the mood turned sour nearer the wedding when the couple rang the Palace to ask the Queen’s dresser and curator, Angela Kelly, to send over the tiara. Meghan wished to practise putting it on.

According to Spare, Prince Harry’s memoir, and also Finding Freedom, the sympathetic account of the couple’s royal woes by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Kelly was proving to be aloof. ‘To my mind, Angela was a troublemaker,’ the Prince wrote, suggesting that the Queen’s dresser was being obstructive.

Matters came to a head when Meghan’s hairdresser flew in for a ‘hair trial’. ‘People were frustrated – and confused. Why was it so hard to set up a time for Meghan to try the tiara with her hairdresser?’ wrote Scobie and Durand, adding that Harry was forced to go directly to the Queen as a result.

The Prince, in his account, said that he did not. ‘I considered going to Granny, but that would probably mean sparking an all-out confrontation,’ he wrote, ‘and I wasn’t quite sure with whom Granny would side.’

Insiders have now revealed that word did, indeed, reach the Queen, who took the side of her dresser. She was not pleased that the Prince had been calling around the Royal Household demanding that the tiara be dispatched forthwith.

Queen liked to start the day with the Daily Mail

The Queen liked to wake up to chatty BBC Radio 2 breakfast banter as opposed to current affairs on Radio 4.

‘You have to remember that she would start each day listening to Terry Wogan, not the Today programme,’ said one of her most senior aides. ‘She always had all the papers on her table, including the red-tops. She liked to start with the Daily Mail and end with The Daily Telegraph – and do the crossword.’

‘The fact that all the newspapers were always laid out at Balmoral made you think, “They do really care what’s being said about them”,’ said David Cameron.

As the monarch told one of them: ‘It’s not a toy.’

She even recalled that, ahead of the 2011 royal wedding, Catherine Middleton’s hairdresser had practised using a plastic tiara from the accessory chain, Claire’s. Why could Meghan and her hairdresser not do the same? She told Kelly to ignore the phone calls.

There were also two reasons, said the insiders, why the tiara was not simply produced at the click of a finger to suit a visiting hairdresser (quite apart from the less-than-straightforward protocols for transporting royal gems).

First, it was Easter Court, with the Queen and her staff based at Windsor and also preoccupied with guests for the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Second, and of greater importance, was the question of provenance. The diamond bandeau tiara had very little known history, beyond the fact that Queen Mary had commissioned it in 1932, using a diamond brooch – a wedding present from the county of Lincolnshire – as its centrepiece. It had seldom been seen in public since.

Angela Kelly and her team had been trying to verify that it had no awkward backstory – like the Timur ruby (alleged imperial loot) or the Cambridge emeralds (reclaimed at vast expense from Queen Mary’s dead brother’s mistress).

Every centrepiece of a royal wedding is subject to forensic global scrutiny. Even if the tiara had only a few offcuts from South Africa’s mighty Cullinan diamond, that could be enough to generate furious headlines about colonial theft. ‘Can you imagine how that would have gone down on the wedding day?’ asked one member of staff.

It had taken a great deal of research. Once due diligence had been done, there was great relief around the Palace. ‘Harry had been on to everyone about this. We thought Angela was like the fairy godmother who had delivered,’ said a source. ‘But when she called Kensington Palace, she was put through to Prince Harry who just said, “Get it here now”. And that was the end of the conversation.’

Harry later wrote that ‘Angela appeared out of thin air’ and asked him to sign a release for the tiara. He said that he thanked her but also added that ‘it would’ve made our lives so much easier to have had it sooner’.

Whereupon, according to his memoir: ‘Her eyes were fire. She started having a go at me.’ He had replied: ‘Angela, you really want to do this now? Really? Now?’

As would be the case with much of the Harry and Meghan story, recollections would vary.

As one staffer recalled: ‘There was already an atmosphere before Angela arrived. Meghan was nowhere to be seen. Harry poked the box and said “Is that it?” Then he stood over Angela and said he did not like her whining to his grandmother.

‘Angela gave it straight back. She said that she did not like him getting all these people to push her when she was just doing her job. She tried to tell him about the history and how it was for their own sake, but he walked out. She decided to put it down to pre-wedding nerves.’

‘All Angela did,’ said a former colleague, ‘was to try to protect them’.

All royal weddings have had their glitches, but never quite like this one. Meghan would have no family present at the ceremony except her mother and her divorced father, Thomas Markle, a retired television lighting director, now living in Mexico.

He was under orders from the couple to say nothing to the Press, but was increasingly upset at media depictions of him as an oddball recluse. So he hatched a secret deal whereby a news agency would take flattering pictures of him preparing for the big day and then syndicate the images.

No sooner was the plan exposed than he was hospitalised with a heart attack and suddenly he wasn’t coming. The bride’s family was down to one, so who would walk her up the aisle?

Harry’s father asked Meghan if he might have the honour of accompanying her to the altar. According to Harry, the offer ‘very much helped’ Meghan get over the pain of her father’s no-show.

According to a friend, the Prince of Wales was somewhat surprised by Meghan’s reply: ‘Can we meet half way?’ She wanted to make her grand entrance to the chapel alone. The Prince would then wait at the entrance to the Quire for the last few yards to the altar.

Hundreds of thousands packed Windsor’s Long Walk on that cloudless May morning. Inside the castle, the guests had all arrived via a fleet of courtesy buses. Here was a collection of Harry’s friends from school, the military and his Gloucestershire childhood mixing with Meghan’s showbusiness cohorts.

One royal friend remembers spotting actor George Clooney and US talk-show host Oprah Winfrey wandering around St George’s Chapel looking at engravings and royal tombs.

‘I happened to be standing with Oprah and I said, “Hi, there”. I just thought I’d better make conversation. I think people like this couldn’t believe that they were in this old English church just wandering around. No one was giving them food or drink but no one was bothering them either, no one was taking photos, everyone was ignoring them. So it’s just me and Oprah. It was bizarre. I think they liked this weird Englishness.’

On the morning of the wedding, the Queen had made Harry the Duke of Sussex, a title last created for one of the wayward sons of King George III (it had died with him in 1843). Like the entire country, she was thrilled to see one of the monarchy’s greatest assets finally find the happiness and the family unit he had craved.

For much of the world over a certain age, the abiding image of Harry was that shellshocked little boy walking behind his mother’s coffin in 1997. He had been with his brother then. Now the warrior prince was there at the altar, blinking hard, with his brother beside him again.

Status-conscious as ever, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, had been determined that Eugenie should have a comparable wedding to Harry

Five months later, on October 12, 2018, St George’s Chapel Windsor held another wedding for another of the Queen’s grandchildren. Princess Eugenie, younger daughter of the Duke of York, was marrying drinks executive Jack Brooksbank.

Status-conscious as ever, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, had been determined that Eugenie should have a comparable wedding to Harry, with live television coverage, a carriage procession, celebrity guests and so on, albeit in front of a smaller audience.

The Queen happily agreed to Andrew’s demands. After all, Eugenie and Jack had been patient. After a seven-year romance, they had been thinking of marrying sooner but had been content to let Harry and Meghan go first, in line with the royal pecking order (the hierarchy did not always work against Harry and Meghan, despite some of their subsequent complaints).

Even before Meghan had selected Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau, Eugenie had already been round to see the Queen to choose her tiara – the seldom-seen Greville emerald kokoshnik. She had gone alone, without her fiance. Though some had expected her to wear the York tiara which had been made for her mother, it was not entirely surprising that she did not.

Just weeks before Harry’s wedding, the Commonwealth member states had formally declared that Prince Charles would be the next head of the organisation upon his accession to the Throne.

The Queen also wanted to strengthen family ties between the Commonwealth and the next generation, too. With that in mind, she appointed Harry as her Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.

The monarch was also keen for Meghan to learn the royal ropes (despite subsequent complaints from the Sussex camp that the Duchess was offered little training). The Queen invited her to leave Harry behind and join her, one-on-one, for an overnight trip to Cheshire in the royal train.

‘The Queen was really wanting to give it a go,’ an insider recalled. ‘She was so sweet, she had brought Meghan a present and tried so hard. The train always left at 11 o’clock at night and the Queen was on the platform to welcome her. They had breakfast together in the morning and she was always trying to do small things, to show her the ropes and bring her in.’

The Sussexes’ first official overseas trip together would be a Commonwealth tour, an extensive journey across the Pacific. It began with a happy surprise. The Duchess was expecting a baby. She made it clear that the tour would proceed as planned. And so it did.

Back at home, work was under way to help Meghan build a portfolio of patronages with meaning. The Queen was keen on two in particular. After 45 years as patron of the National Theatre, she wanted to hand it on to Meghan, given her acting credentials.

It was even suggested that the Duchess might have the occasional walk-on part in stage productions (a sweet idea, though one possibly unlikely to appeal to a former television star).

Another important gift from the Queen was the Association of Commonwealth Universities. ‘It would allow Meghan a platform to give speeches with substance around the world. She could talk about, say, women’s rights in Africa but without being political,’ explained a Palace aide. ‘The Queen knew it was time to hand these on and was really excited for Meghan. The Sussexes were in a good place.’

Within Kensington Palace, relations soon started to cool between the Cambridges and the Sussexes. Despite wildly over-optimistic talk of a new royal ‘dream team’ or, even more fancifully, a ‘Fab Four’, resentments were growing. The Sussexes, like any exciting new prospect, were attracting the bulk of the media attention and invitations at this stage. Yet, they had a smaller staff, a smaller budget and a very much smaller house.

In March 2019 it was announced that the brothers would be splitting their offices. The Cambridges would keep their headquarters at Kensington Palace while Harry and Meghan would move their home to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate and look for a new office at Buckingham Palace.

Once there was a change of monarch, William would become Prince of Wales and inherit the Duchy of Cornwall. Harry, who would still be dependent on his father, would then have to swap cost centres and become part of the King’s operation. Hence the need to move the Sussexes to Royal HQ at some point. Why not now, while the Palace was undergoing major restoration work?

The problem, say insiders, was the way it was handled. ‘They were dealing with two brothers but they treated it like a corporate split, with Harry being farmed off to a new sales division,’ was the impression of one Palace veteran.

Internal tensions would work both ways. As Meghan’s own supporters pointed out, she had arrived from a world in which offers of clothes and discounts were an accepted trade-off for celebrity endorsement.

‘It had to be explained that, aside from official gifts, which were registered, anything else had to be paid with a proper bill to show the Keeper of the Privy Purse,’ one staff member recalled. ‘The Palace can’t take freebies. Let’s just say that did not go down well.’

We are both grandmothers

The Queen always liked to be kept abreast of the human side of politics. In 2021, she was being introduced to some new Privy Counsellors by the Lord President of the Council, Jacob Rees-Mogg. According to one of those present, he explained that Angela Rayner had a claim to fame. ‘Oh really? What’s that?’ asked the monarch.

Rees-Mogg noted that she was the youngest grandmother in the Commons. ‘Oh, how lovely,’ the Queen replied, to which Miss Rayner chipped in: ‘I was 37.’ Momentarily digesting this fact, the Queen found herself thinking out loud. ‘I suppose mathematically it is possible,’ she said brightly.

Harry’s book recorded gravely that one member of staff had been fired for trying ‘to get freebies’ but then went on to praise Meghan because ‘she shared all the freebies she received’.

The rules and hierarchies would also work in the Sussexes’ favour, too. One Palace staffer was dismayed after working for weeks on a major news event for one of the Duchess of Cornwall’s charities only to be told to shelve it because it would clash with a big announcement for Prince Harry’s Invictus Games.

The couple’s dislike and distrust of the media was such that, on May 6, 2019, when the Duchess gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Archie, both were back home even as the media received a bulletin saying that she had gone into hospital.

The Palace was then accused of lying, and not only by the Press. The Metropolitan Police had gone to considerable trouble to create a strategy for crowd control around the hospital. ‘People from the Met were calling up the Palace and asking why we had lied – which we hadn’t,’ said one royal staffer caught in the middle. ‘The Sussexes just hadn’t told anyone. I think it was one area where no one could tell Meghan what to do. It was a case of “I’m going to show you who’s boss”.’

At the end of 2019, the couple left Britain for a quiet Christmas in Canada before returning to Britain early in the New Year. They then suddenly issued an unprecedented statement after the end of the working day on January 8. They would now be seeking a ‘progressive new role’, ‘stepping back’ from royal duties while supporting the Queen on both sides of the Atlantic.

They were certainly not expecting the Palace to move as swiftly and firmly as it did, with an almost immediate response from ‘Royal Communications’. It stated baldly that these were ‘complicated issues’ and would ‘take time to work through’. In fact, they would not take much time at all.

What the Press instantly branded as ‘Megxit’ had a different name within the Palace. The family talked about ‘UDI’, a reference to the Rhodesian crisis of the mid-Sixties when the minority white government there issued its ‘unilateral declaration of independence’ from Britain. That had not ended well.

The Queen and the Prince of Wales were as one on the need for speed: The longer the absence of clarity, they agreed, the greater the scope for misunderstanding.

Meghan had already returned to Canada when the Queen invited Harry to Sandringham for a family meeting a few days later. There would be no conference call dial-in from Canada either. No one could be sure who else might be listening in.

Those on the Palace side look back with some sympathy. ‘That so-called “Sandringham Summit” was quite brutal,’ said one of those present. ‘But the Queen was absolutely solid from the start: No half-in, half-out.’

Grudgingly, the couple chose out.

Keep Calm and Carry On

Elizabeth II never liked to dwell on the various terrifying events which occurred in her long life. In 1982, she awoke to find a strange barefoot man called Michael Fagan at the end of her bed holding the sharp edge of a broken glass ashtray and dripping blood on the floor. She calmly kept him talking until help arrived.

Perhaps the most extraordinary aspect of the story is that, four hours later, she would go on to hold an investiture for more than 100 people. None would have the faintest idea that the Queen had just endured the stuff of horror films.

The previous year, she had gone through an equally horrific experience when a gunman opened fire (with blanks, it transpired) as she was riding down the Mall on her Birthday Parade. Onlookers applauded her cool response as she calmed her mare, Burmese, and rode on.

Now, it can finally be revealed just how troubling it actually was.

As a former close aide explained: ‘She had no idea they were blanks. And when she saw the police running past, she feared the worst. She said to me, “I saw all the attention heading behind me and I thought that someone had shot my husband”. It was unusual for her to say “husband”, which is why I remember it so well.

‘And she explained that she just kept staring ahead and going forwards because that is what you do. She said to herself, “Don’t look back”, because she was afraid she might see the Duke’s body. It was her way of dealing with it.’

Grainy film footage shows the moment after she has turned the corner on to Horse Guards and realises that the parade appears to be continuing. It is only then that she allows herself a quick glance over her left shoulder. The look on her face after seeing that the Duke is trotting along behind is one of unabashed joy. Indeed, it was possibly the smiliest that Elizabeth II had ever been on a parade ground.

‘Funnily enough, it’s one of those things you often think about riding down the Mall: Who might at any minute do something crazy?’ Prince Charles reflected years later. ‘You must continue as Mama did. You can’t rush off in panic.’

Yet because there was no live ammunition, the incident tends to be downplayed or even forgotten. I mentioned it to another member of that exclusive club of world leaders who have been shot at in public – and survived. ‘I didn’t know about that,’ replied a surprised Donald Trump.

Wisconsin Mosque Leader Arrested by ICE for Concealed Conviction Linked to Israeli Attacks

Federal officials have taken into custody the head of Wisconsin’s largest mosque, accusing him of hiding a previous conviction related to assaults on Israeli interests and of providing false information on his immigration paperwork.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended Salah Salem Sarsour, who holds a leadership position at the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, during a strategic operation conducted earlier this week, as noted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

According to a DHS statement released on Thursday, Sarsour, a citizen of Jordan, had been previously convicted in Israel for hurling a Molotov cocktail at residences of Israeli military personnel and for attempting to acquire weapons and ammunition.

The department contends that he failed to report this background on his immigration applications, leading to his improper acquisition of U.S. permanent residency.

“Salah Salem Sarsour is a terrorist convicted for throwing Molotov cocktails at the homes of Israeli armed forces. This illegal alien from Jordan lied on his green card application to gain legal status in the U.S.,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

Fox News’ Brooke Taylor reported that, according to ICE, Sarsour eventually became a green card holder in 1998 under President Bill Clinton after lying on his application.

Overview of Salah Sarsour's charges

In a statement to FOX 6 Milwaukee, ICE said it worked with the U.S. Marshals Service to arrest Sarsour.

The Islamic Society of Milwaukee has also created a fundraising page to support Sarsour.

“Br. Salah is being targeted on the basis of his Palestinian and Muslim background, and his advocacy for Palestinian rights,” the fundraiser says, in part. “We know this fight for Br. Salah is part of a larger trend of attacks on immigrants that whittle away at democratic norms and legal protections for everyone. That is why this fight is a fight for all of us.”

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), conducted a targeted operation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to arrest Salah Salem Sarsour, a criminal illegal alien from Jordan suspected of funding terror organizations and lying on immigration forms. (The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS))

Sarsour has been the board president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, the largest Islamic organization in the state, for five years.

At a crowded news conference, boisterous supporters chanted to free Sarsour.

“He was targeted because of one thing, because he dared stand up to the Israeli army,” Othman Atta, one of Sarsour’s attorneys, told the crowd. “And he was not a U.S. citizen.”

A diverse group of religious leaders in attendance called Sarsour a valuable community member.

“This appears to be just the latest example of how this administration seeks to silence opposition and intimidate those who speak and act differently,” said the Rev. Paul D. Erickson, bishop of the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson called Sarsour’s detainment “an outrage.”

“He is a legal permanent resident. There is no substantive evidence he has done anything wrong,” Johnson said Thursday in a post on X. “This is another example of overreach and harm from the U.S. immigration authorities.”

Sarsour is being held at a county jail in Indiana. His attorneys have filed a petition seeking his release.

Thermostat Dispute Nearly Turns Deadly: Man Accused of Crossbow Attack on Sister

0

News footage of Samy Sedhom heading into court on April 2 (WNBC).

A New York man stands accused of nearly killing his sister with a crossbow, authorities report.

Samy Sedhom, 21, faced a judge on Thursday, entering a plea of not guilty to charges including attempted murder, assault, and illegal weapon possession. These charges stem from a February 13 incident where he allegedly attacked his 28-year-old sister at their Lawrence, New York home. Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly stated that Sedhom ambushed his sister after she returned from the gym, firing a crossbow at her head. The attack left her with a severe 6-inch wound requiring emergency medical intervention.

Donnelly noted that the alleged assault was the result of an ongoing dispute over “the temperature in their home.” She remarked that Sedhom came perilously close to fatally injuring his sister.

Following his arraignment on Thursday, Sedhom, having been indicted by a grand jury, maintained his innocence on all charges. His lawyer, Stephen Mullkoff, told WNBC that Sedhom’s actions were intended only to frighten his sister, not harm her. Earlier in February, Mullkoff characterized the incident as a “prank.”

Donnelly expressed her skepticism to the station, describing Mullkoff’s explanation as “so unbelievable.”

In a press release from the DA’s office, Donnelly called Sedhom’s alleged attack “violent and calculated.” She said Sedhom “allegedly tracked his sister and lain in wait before brutally attacking her with a crossbow in a clear attempt to take her life. An attack that was born out of revenge for an ongoing dispute about the temperature in their home and came within inches of being fatal.”

Mullkoff said in February that Sedhom “absolutely suffers from an undiagnosed mental health condition,” but Donnelly was also not buying that argument. While speaking to the media outside the courtroom, Donnelly said, “There was too much planning that went into this. It wasn’t, you know, a mental break of some sort.”

Donnelly told the media, “He had to order this crossbow, have it delivered, put it together. So there was planning involved.”

As Law&Crime previously reported, Sedhom allegedly told police after his arrest that he had been planning to kill his sister, a registered nurse, since Christmas 2025. The alleged confession was caught on police body camera, the DA said.

On the night of Feb. 13, Sedhom’s sister returned to the family home from the gym and parked her car in the detached garage. As she was entering the code to close the garage door, she suddenly felt a sharp pain on the side of her face and noticed she was bleeding. She called police and told them she saw Sedhom sitting in his car, which was parked across the street from the home.

Sedhom’s sister was taken to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery for a 6-inch laceration to her face. Local newspaper Newsday reported that according to Donnelly, she is “healing very well,” but “she had to have three layers of stitching to close the wound.”

Prosecutors said Sedhom shot his sister with a “high-performance Barnett Whitetail Hunter Crossbow.” Prosecutors also said that before the alleged attack, he purchased a 3-pack of hunting arrows and a GPS device that he used to track his sister’s vehicle. Police said they found the box for the crossbow in Sedhom’s bedroom.

Sedhom allegedly tried to discard the crossbow at an intersection, but it was later recovered by the Nassau County Police Department.

Sedhom pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, two counts of assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was ordered to remain in jail without bail and undergo a psychological evaluation to determine his competency to stand trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 30.

Atlanta Emerges as America’s Soccer Hub Ahead of Upcoming World Cup: A Transformation Story

0

Andre Benjamin, famously known as Andre 3000, once mused, “The world’s a stage and everybody gots to play their part.” Soon, the global spotlight will shine on Atlanta, and the city is more than prepared to step into its role.

As the countdown to the 2026 World Cup continues, Atlanta gears up for a pivotal moment, hosting one of the semifinals of this globally celebrated sporting event.

Atlanta’s selection is no accident; it stands as a cornerstone of soccer’s growth in the United States. Over the last decade, the city affectionately known as the ‘Big Peach’ has not only embraced the sport but has emerged as the Capital of American Soccer.

Today, Atlanta’s soccer scene is not merely expanding; it’s flourishing. This vibrancy will peak during the upcoming World Cup, but the journey of Atlanta’s soccer culture promises continued excitement and development in the years ahead.

In late March, over five engaging days, the Daily Mail ventured to Atlanta to speak with key players and experts, uncovering how ‘A-Town’ claimed its rightful place at the forefront of American soccer.

To appreciate how much progress has been made, you have to understand the importance of sports in the American South – and where Atlanta fits in it all.

The American South is – first, and foremost – American football territory. Georgia Tech, located in Atlanta, and the University of Georgia, located in nearby Athens, each have four college national titles. In addition to the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosts the SEC Championship and Peach Bowl each year.

Outside football, the Atlanta Braves are the ‘Deep South’s’ only Major League Baseball team. Under the ownership of Ted Turner – the founder of CNN and the Turner Broadcasting System – Braves games were broadcast nationally beginning in 1977 and showed off the city to the country.

But for a while, soccer was never truly present in the region. Atlanta was once host to the Atlanta Chiefs in the first iteration of the North American Soccer League, but couldn’t make ‘The Beautiful Game’ stick.

All that changed in 2017, when Arthur Blank – the billionaire co-founder of The Home Depot – began to build a new stadium for his Atlanta Falcons NFL team.

‘They did a feasibility study and turns out, you know what, we do have a pretty highly motivated soccer community here in Atlanta,’ said Heather Sautter, Vice President of Corporate Communications for AMB Sports + Entertainment – the parent company of Atlanta United and the Falcons. ‘And he decided, let’s just do it.’

Around the time that Blank was working on the development of the now-named Mercedes-Benz Stadium, his son, Josh, was playing soccer in high school.

Blank had previously considered pursuing an expansion franchise, but pulled out in the late-2000s. After discussions and adjustments to the plans for the stadium, MLS announced Atlanta United FC as an expansion team in 2014 – targeting a start of play in 2017.

The building itself is one of the grandest sporting cathedrals you’d find anywhere in the world. At just under nine years old, the facility remains state-of-the-art and offers not only luxury (20% of all seats are ‘premium’) but also affordability in the form of the cheapest concession prices in the entire United States.

Stadium representatives say the building was designed so it could adapt to the game being played, saying that ‘when you’re here for a football game, it shouldn’t feel like a soccer stadium but when you’re here for a soccer game, it shouldn’t feel like a soccer stadium.’

Representatives from the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce note that in the history of the building, they’ve had more fans in total attending soccer matches than football games ‘and it will never go back.’

On Atlanta United gamedays, when the team is truly at its peak, it can achieve that singularity. The ‘Five Stripes’ sit 45th in the world for average matchday attendance – one spot behind Aston Villa and ahead of giants like Juventus and Chelsea.

To this day, Atlanta United still holds the record for the highest attended MLS title game when 73,019 packed in to watch the team win the 2018 MLS Cup Final.

The early success of the team captivated American soccer right out of the gate. The MLS Cup title was the first trophy won by an Atlanta pro sports team since the Braves won the 1995 World Series.

It’s thanks to that instant impact that has led to sustained support to this day. Even in the midst of the worst season in club history last season, when Atlanta United finished 14th out of 15 in the Eastern Conference, the team still averaged 43,992 fans per match – nearly 13,000 more than their next-closest rivals.

That number shows how truly well-supported soccer is in the Atlanta area – and why it’s being treated like the growth opportunity it should be.

‘The fans… the ones who come and they just want to support a winning team, they, they will, they will be there,’ Atlanta United sporting director Chris Henderson told the Daily Mail. ‘But there is a really strong foundation of a core group of fans that have followed this team’s ups and downs and I think more it’s just this connection with who the club is and who it is in this city.’

In addition to the local area residents in the most prosperous city in the American South, Atlanta is home to distinct communities of ex-pats from European countries like Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom – as well as from Mexico and Central America along with other growing soccer nations like South Korea.

‘It was important to bring the right infrastructure in at the time too, and do the groundwork of going into the soccer communities, getting to know them, understanding what they needed and what they wanted,’ said Sautter. ‘It was very much a grassroots effort to bring those folks along with us.’

With a growing appetite for the game, the city and Atlanta United itself are responding by expanding opportunities across the Peach State.

In the city, the local transportation service – MARTA – is working on its ‘StationSoccer’ program – building pitches in conjunction with a local non-profit. Five have already been built with another five in progress.

The MLS side is also working on a similar project, titled GA 100 – with the goal of building 100 soccer pitches across the state. 18 have been constructed so far, ranging from the city of Dalton in the north of Georgia to Brunswick on the Atlantic coast.

Soccer has spread in the city. One project is bringing pitches directly to MARTA stations.

Then, of course, there’s the two biggest examples of growth. First, there’s the new US Soccer headquarters: the $250million Arthur M. Blank US Soccer National Training Center.

The sprawling complex on 200-acres is located just 30 minutes south of the city center and features 17 outdoor playing surfaces, 200,000 square feet of indoor space and is able to host all 23 national teams that the US Soccer Federation (USSF) fields.

With a ribbon cutting set for early May, officials in the USSF made it clear that suburban Atlanta was the clear choice to set up a base for the future.

‘One of the key things is you need to be able to play soccer year-round,’ USSF CEO JT Batson told Daily Mail. ‘That eliminates a chunk of the country. And then, of course, you need to be next to a major airport… Once we decided Atlanta was the right home, we look all around and we definitely found that here.’

Lastly, but not least, there’s the NWSL franchise Atlanta has been awarded which will begin play in 2028.

While the team has not been named yet, there is belief that once things get off and running, the side can be competitive right away.

‘Knowing that we will be an expansion team, there’ll be more [patience], but I think it really goes back to what do we want to be and represent?’ said Josh Blank, Arthur’s aforementioned son, who has taken a key role in developing the NWSL team.

Referencing Atlanta United, Blank says ‘there were some growing pains, at times. But also it made the type of soccer incredibly exciting.’

He hopes to find a way and replicate that with the women’s team: ‘Hopefully that means we win a lot of games, but I think, ultimately we want to play an attractive style.’

The area will also be the new home of US Soccer with the Arthur M. Blank US Soccer National Training Center - being completed roughly 30 minutes south of Atlanta's city center

With all of this background, it’s no wonder why Atlanta is the perfect site to host matches at the World Cup. Atlanta will hold eight matches – including games in the Round of 32, the Round of 16 and the semifinals.

Fans will find the trademark ‘Southern hospitality’ as well as a plethora of accommodations – with tens of thousands of hotel rooms within a 15 minute walk of Mercedes-Benz Stadium (which will be renamed for the World Cup).

It’s a city that’s grown to not just love the sport – but fully embrace it as a larger part of its identity.

Now, with the World Cup less than 70 days away, everyone in the ATL is preparing to welcome the globe to the city ‘where the players play.’

Security Breach at Prince Andrew’s Sandringham Estate: Intruders Scale Fence, Prompting Safety Concerns

0

Security concerns emerged at the new residence of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor when a man and a girl climbed over his fence, drawing attention to potential vulnerabilities.

The incident unfolded while the former prince was visiting Marsh Farm, his upcoming permanent residence on the King’s Sandringham estate. On Thursday, a red car arrived outside the property, and the pair exited the vehicle, proceeding to scale the exterior gate.

They attempted to look over a newly installed 6-foot fence surrounding the farmhouse, which is currently under renovation in preparation for Andrew’s move in the coming weeks. Photographs captured the duo standing on the gate, trying to catch a glimpse of the interior.

However, their curiosity was short-lived. Andrew’s security team swiftly intervened, effectively managing the situation. The intruders quickly returned to their car and departed the scene.

But they didn’t stay for long as Andrew’s security was quick to react and defused the situation before the pair jumped back in their car and drove off.

Andrew appeared to spend the afternoon at his new house and was seen meeting up with the Sandringham estate manager, Edward Parsons.

He is currently living at nearby Wood Farm, whilst his new house is being renovated, but has made several trips there this week to check on the progress.

Builders have been working flat out to get the property ready for Andrew, fitting luxury carpets, a Sky dish and a fast broadband connection.

Andrew was seen visiting the property just a day earlier as he was spotted behind the wheel of his Range Rover wearing a maroon cable-knit jumper, with his security guard next to him in the passenger seat.

The disgraced ex-Duke, who has been accused of leaking secrets to Jeffrey Epstein, is expected to remain in Norfolk over Easter and will not attend the Royal Family’s traditional service at Windsor this year.

He has been keeping a low profile in Norfolk since his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on his 66th birthday on February 19.

Over the weekend, Andrew was also spotted inspecting horses near to his home, despite him reportedly being urged to stop riding.

It is understood that aides feared it would be a ‘bad look’ for him to be seen enjoying himself while he is under police investigation for misconduct in public office.

Before moving to Sandringham a few weeks ago, Andrew was regularly seen horse riding around Windsor.

And earlier last week, he had a second-hand static caravan delivered to his current home, which has been propped up on bricks in his garden, bearing signs of moss.

The caravan – a £26,000 Willerby Meridian Lodge – was paid for using money his brother, King Charles, gave him for ‘living expenses’ and it will house his security detail as there is not enough space in his main Norfolk home.

While the probe into Andrew continues, his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are also understood to have made ‘alternative plans’ for Easter.

The news of their absence from the Easter line-up comes despite sources stressing that the pair remain a key part of the family and will ‘be seen’ at future celebrations.

The Royal Family’s Easter Sunday service is typically only attended by members of The Firm and their engaged or married partners.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to join the King and Queen in Windsor on Sunday, much to the delight of royal fans disappointed by their previous absences.

Henault, a DJ and content strategist, is making waves with her impressive career, showing off her creative chops on Instagram and in a 2021 portfolio where she’s listed as a wardrobe stylist.

Rock, who was married to Malaak Compton-Rock from 1996 to 2016, was most recently linked to Brazilian actress and entrepreneur Karmel Bortoleti.

The pair was spotted enjoying a cozy stroll together in New York City this past September.

The SNL icon’s love life has been under the spotlight since his divorce from Malaak, with whom he shares two daughters – Lola Simone, 23, and Zahra Savannah, 21.

After their split, Rock’s name was frequently tied to several women in the public eye.

In 2022, he was seen with actress Lake Bell, sparking rumors of a brief romance.

The two were photographed together multiple times, including at a Golden Globes after-party, though the relationship ended after just a few months.

Prior to that, Rock briefly dated actress Megalyn Echikunwoke in 2017.

He’s also been linked to models and actresses over the years, but has remained largely tight-lipped about his personal life.

Now, with Henault by his side, Rock seems to be embracing his new romance more openly.

The new romance comes nearly a year after Will Smith opened up about the infamous moment he slapped Rock at the 2022 Oscars, offering a surprising take on how the incident affected both his personal life and career.

The 57-year-old actor reflected on the shocking on-stage altercation, which was triggered by a joke Rock made about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her shaved head, a result of her battle with alopecia.

The moment stunned the world and led to a 10-year ban from the Oscars, sparking global backlash.

In an interview with Radio 1Xtra’s Remi Burgz in June 2025, Smith explained: ‘Finding that way to be with my own humanity – be able to not be perfect but be human and find a higher power in my humanity that I found in my constellation of ideas of perfection that we called Will Smith.’

He continued, ‘The fullness of who I am to allow that to be better than Will Smith.

‘Allowing that to grow into a higher perfection than the imagery of Will Smith is where I am as an artist and human right now.’

Federal Charges Filed Against Undocumented Immigrant in Loyola Student’s Death Amid Attorney’s Criticism of State Legal System

0

In a significant development on Thursday, federal prosecutors introduced additional charges against an undocumented immigrant linked to the murder of a Loyola University Chicago student. This move stems from a perceived lack of confidence in the state’s legal proceedings, as suggested by a prominent local defense attorney.

“Cities with liberal leanings tend to be more lenient in their prosecutions. It has surfaced that the accused might have mental health issues, which the defense could leverage,” explained Donna Rotunno to Fox News Digital. “It seems the federal authorities intervened to exert more influence over the defendant’s legal journey.”

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina, was apprehended following the alleged murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman, a student at Loyola University Chicago, in the early hours of March 19. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Medina-Medina hails from Venezuela and entered the U.S. in 2023, where he was initially detained but subsequently released under policies from the Biden administration.

On Thursday, the federal authorities charged Medina-Medina with the illegal possession of a firearm, a charge that could lead to a maximum of 10 years in federal prison if convicted. The weapon in question, allegedly used in Gorman’s murder, was unlawfully acquired from a Federal Firearms Licensee in Montgomery, Alabama, on or around February 6, 2008, as detailed in the charging documents.

“Given the senseless, cold-blooded nature of the murder of a young student with a bright future ahead of her, the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office will take no chances that this illegal alien perpetrator will be released back into our community,” said U.S. Attorney Boutros.

In addition to the federal charges, Medina-Medina faces state-level charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and illegal possession of a weapon.

During a detention hearing for Medina-Medina, prosecutors revealed that Gorman was with her friends at a Rogers Park pier when she looked around a lighthouse and saw Medina-Medina there. Gorman then walked back towards her friends and mouthed, “There’s a man behind the lighthouse,” at which point Medina-Medina began chasing them.

Prosecutors said Gorman was shot in the upper back while the group of friends ran away from Medina-Medina. Her friends kept running until they found a place to hide, then went back to check on Gorman, who was unresponsive.

While Medina-Medina was in Colombia, he was shot in the head, which resulted in the loss of a portion of his brain and skull, leaving him to relearn basic functions, his attorney said. Medina-Medina’s attorney said that he has the brain development of a child and cannot read or write.

Medina-Medina’s attorney also said that he suffers from epilepsy and still has bullet fragments lodged in his brain. The murder suspect turned himself in at the Texas border in 2023, where he was held in detention before being released. His attorney said that Medina-Medina had requested to be sent back to Colombia, where his mother had moved to, but had been transported by bus to Chicago.

During Medina-Medina’s time in a shelter, he contracted tuberculosis, according to his attorney. He was treated for tuberculosis after being arrested on murder charges, which led to a delay in his detention hearing.

Members of the Gorman family along with friends of the slain college student were at the court hearing via Zoom, where a judge held Medina-Medina to be detained pending trial.

“We sat in a courtroom and listened as the person accused of taking Sheridan’s life was described through the lens of his background, his circumstances, and his struggles,” Gorman’s family said. “We heard a call for compassion. And we understand that instinct. Every life has a story. But we cannot lose sight of the simple, devastating truth at the center of all of this: Sheridan had a life too.”

Court documents obtained by Fox News Digital show that Medina-Medina told officials he was living at Leone Beach Park fieldhouse in Rogers Park in 2023, which was being used as a city-sponsored shelter for migrants. Medina-Medina was arrested in 2023 and charged with shoplifting after he allegedly stole just over $130 in merchandise from a Macy’s in downtown Chicago. He failed to appear for court hearings related to that case, and an arrest warrant remained active until the alleged murder.

Tragic Accident: Father Falls Asleep with Loaded .380 Pistol, 6-Year-Old Fatally Shot

0

In a heart-wrenching incident in Tennessee, a father awoke from a nap to the harrowing realization that his young son had accidentally shot himself. The tragic event unfolded after Steven Lamont Phillips, 56, had spent time playing with his 6-year-old son before dozing off. Phillips, whose son has been identified through a GoFundMe page as Steven Lamont Ricks, is now facing serious legal consequences.

Initially charged with aggravated child neglect and unlawful gun possession, Phillips’ charges were escalated to criminal homicide following the boy’s untimely death. This tragic accident took place at a residence on the 3100 block of Qualynn Drive in Nashville, where Phillips was reportedly looking after his son over the weekend.

The boy’s legal guardian, Phillips’ sister, was present at the home as well, but she had retired to take a nap, leaving Phillips responsible for the child. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Tennessean, Phillips had discovered a .380 caliber pistol in a ditch while doing yard work earlier that day. He chose to place the firearm in his pocket before heading back inside.

Having spent time playing with his son, Phillips succumbed to fatigue and fell asleep on the living room floor with the gun still in his pocket. It was during this nap that the tragic accident occurred, as detailed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Phillips was abruptly awakened by the sound of a gunshot, only to discover the devastating scene.

The defendant played with his son, but fatigue apparently set in with him, too. He fell asleep on the floor with the pistol in his pocket “after playing with the child in the living room,” the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced. He said he then “awoke to the sound of a gunshot.”

The sound, as well as a muzzle flash, spurred him from his sleep, and he saw that Steven had shot himself in the head, police said. Phillips then reportedly yelled for his sister to call 911.

The boy was rushed to a hospital, where he was put on life support and later pronounced dead. Phillips was arrested the next day, the newspaper reported, adding that authorities said he was not allowed to possess a weapon as he is a convicted felon.

When investigators asked the father why he didn’t report the gun after finding it, he allegedly “responded that his phone was dead,” and when asked why he didn’t use his sister’s phone, he said that when he got back inside, “he started playing with his son and did not think about it,” per the affidavit.

Steven’s fundraiser remembers him as “Junebug,” a boy with autism who “brought so much joy and life to our family.”

“He had so much life ahead of him, and now it’s been cut short in the most heartbreaking way,” the GoFundMe adds. “We are devastated by the loss of Junebug, who was shot and killed at just 6 years old. Our family is struggling to cope with this unimaginable pain.”
