Katie Holmes, 47, Captures Hearts by Revealing New Romance with Younger Beau on Instagram

0

Katie Holmes has taken a significant step forward in her budding relationship with artist Jason Bard Yarmosky. The couple, who recently began dating, made their romance Instagram official just a month after news of their involvement surfaced.

At 47, the celebrated actress shared photos via Instagram Stories originally posted by her 38-year-old beau. Among the images was a charming snapshot of Holmes captured during one of their recent outings, which she shared on Thursday.

A cheerful Holmes, known for her role as the girl-next-door in Dawson’s Creek, was pictured smiling, presumably in Yarmosky’s direction, while the couple explored an unoccupied barn together.

Although the duo appeared to be attending an art exhibition, neither Holmes, who was previously married to Tom Cruise, nor Yarmosky offered specific details about their outing.

For the occasion, the mother-of-one stunned in a chic pale gold ensemble featuring a halter top and midi skirt, which she paired elegantly with metallic pointed-toe heels.

In follow-up IG Story posts, Yarmosky shared a photo he took of colorful sculptures as well as a stunning sunset view over a lake.

He made sure to tag Holmes in each post, which she re-shared to her own Instagram Story.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Holmes’ representatives for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The couple were first spotted together just a little over a month ago at an event in New York City, where Holmes resides.

She and Yarmosky were seen holding hands at a screening of The Invite hosted by The Cinema Society at the East Hampton Regal UA on July 10.

Two weeks later, Holmes broke her silence on their romance as they attended a Ferragamo pop-up event in matching outfits.

When asked about their coordinating looks, Holmes told Elle magazine: ‘I think we just have similar taste.’

According to the outlet, the new couple put on a loved-up display and were ‘whispering and giggling’ throughout the invite-only event.

Holmes’ move to go Instagram official with Yarmosky comes shortly after she reunited with her Dawson’s Creek co-star Joshua Jackson for the premiere of their new rom-com Happy Hours.

At the Tribeca Film Festival premiere in June, the pair, who briefly dated while filming Dawson’s Creek, reminisced on playing love interests on the hit WB series.

‘The time that we spent together when we were young is very precious to both of us,’ Jackson said. ‘And [it] is like one of the core personal and professional relationships in my life.’

Does Hollywood’s focus on age-gap romances set a good example for real relationships?

Earlier this year, the pair made headlines while filming the movie around New York City.

In addition to starring in the romantic comedy, Holmes also wrote and directed Happy Hours.

The film follows a couple deciding whether to give their relationship another shot after their romance fizzled out.

‘I take it very seriously, and I want to do right by Josh. I have a great deal of respect, so I wanted it to be right,’ Holmes said about asking her former costar to star in the movie with her.

‘We’ve often talked about doing something again, but we never knew what,’ she continued.

‘So it was really about that and agreeing to go for it, I suppose,’ she added. ‘He said yes, and that made me feel very good.’

Shrink Tummy Rolls Fast: Top 5 Standing Exercises After 60

Embrace the journey to a firmer midsection with these expert-recommended exercises.

For many individuals over the age of 60, a burgeoning waistline is a frequent concern. Several factors contribute to this phenomenon, such as hormonal shifts, natural muscle loss, and a slowing metabolism. But there’s no need to worry; now is the perfect time to regain control.

“As we age, multiple changes occur simultaneously that make a tummy roll more prominent,” says Jacob Siwicki, the founder and head coach at Siwicki Fitness. Siwicki, who is certified by NCSF and AFAA, was a top globally ranked Equinox fitness instructor in 2019 and has been recognized as the #1 personal trainer in Washington, D.C., in 2021. He explains, “With age, people gradually lose muscle, leading to reduced energy expenditure and decreased daily movement. Hormonal changes further influence fat storage, often resulting in more accumulation around the abdomen.”

The significance of good posture may surprise you.

Siwicki elaborates, “Weakened glutes, back, and deep core muscles can cause the pelvis to tilt forward and the ribs to flare out. This posture change pushes the stomach forward, making the midsection appear larger, even without significant fat increase. While rebuilding muscle and improving posture won’t halt the aging process, it can dramatically transform how your body looks, moves, and feels.”

This excess fat is not only frustrating, but it’s also unhealthy. Visceral fat—the fat found deep in your belly—wraps around your organs and can cause high blood pressure while placing additional stress on your heart and lungs.

To get you started on the right track, Siwicki shares five standing exercises that can help shrink tummy roll fat faster than Pilates after 60.

Nigel Farage Triumphs Over Comedy Opposition in Clacton By-Election With 63.3% Victory Amid Security Concern

0

In a lively electoral battle, Nigel Farage emerged victorious in the Clacton by-election, successfully retaining his seat against a lineup of quirky challengers, most notably led by the eccentric Count Binface.

Capturing 22,239 votes, the leader of Reform UK triumphed with 63.3 percent of the total ballots cast. This outcome surpasses the previously impressive 21,225 votes he garnered during his initial election to the Essex jurisdiction in the 2024 general election.

Count Binface, a comedic figure posing as an ancient interstellar warrior over 5,900 years old, took second place with a manifesto focusing on freezing ice cream prices in Clacton at 99p. He garnered 9,455 votes, equating to 26.9 percent of the vote.

Farage framed the electoral challenge as a grand standoff between ‘the people’ and ‘the Establishment’, ignited by probing questions regarding a hefty £5 million donation from crypto magnate Christopher Harborne.

The parliamentary examination into Harborne’s contribution is ongoing, leaving the door open for another by-election should Farage be judged to have breached House of Commons protocols. An impending interview with a parliamentary standards watchdog looms as MPs prepare to reconvene at Westminster following their summer interlude.

The Reform leader, 62, sparked chaos and confusion in the early hours of Friday morning when he declared himself the winner of the Clacton by-election. He then took the unprecedented step of missing the count to hear the result, with his party claiming police had advised him to stay away due to a ‘credible threat’.

However, Essex Constabulary then denied that it had told any of the 34 candidates that they should not attend Clacton Leisure Centre, insisting security at the venue was ‘robust’. After the by-election result was formally declared shortly after 6am, Mr Farage posted on X: ‘The result in Clacton speaks for itself.’

His decision to stay away was criticised by some leading figures within Reform, while Labour swiped the ‘distraction’ of the by-election triggered by Mr Farage ‘doesn’t clear his name’ amid the scrutiny of his donations from wealthy backers.

The other main political parties had all boycotted yesterday’s by-election, branding it a ‘farce’ and a ‘stunt’, leaving Mr Farage to face 33 rivals on the longest ballot paper in British electoral history. They included Count Binface, Howling Laud Hope, Nick the Incredible Flying Brick and Baron Von Thunderclap.

Speaking at an overnight Reform rally in Essex, Mr Farage had announced himself the winner of the contest but revealed he wouldn’t be attending the formal result declaration on Friday morning.

‘I’m not scared of these people, far from it. But I’m damned if I’m going to stand on a stage, having won a resounding victory, and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies, and I will not, sadly, be attending the count,’ he told supporters.

A Reform UK spokesman said: ‘Essex Police advised Nigel not to attend the count due to a credible threat against him’, adding his planned ‘victory lap’ of Clacton and speech later today have also been cancelled.

Mr Farage instead delivered his victory speech at the fairground-style rally, dubbed ‘Farage Fest’, with a Ferris wheel nearby.

He said: ‘The verdict is now in, and it is a convincing, overwhelming win with more votes than we got in the General Election of 2024. Today the voters in Clacton have stuck up two fingers to the entire political establishment.’

The Reform leader added his victory vindicated his decision to resign as an MP last month and seek a fresh mandate from voters, despite Binface securing more than a quarter of the votes. ‘I was right to do this. This is an overwhelming endorsement of me,’ the Brexiteer said.

Asked about the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner’s investigation into his finances, he replied: ‘Who cares? Who cares? The voters of Clacton don’t care.’

He added: ‘Labour, Lib Dem and Conservative canvassers have been out for Binface. They aren’t going to win. The uni-party aren’t going to win. They won’t call a second by-election here. They would be stupid to do so.’

But Tim Montgomerie, a political commentator and prominent Reform member, criticised Mr Farage’s ‘puzzling’ decision not to attend the result declaration.

‘He should be on every TV screen this morning – underlining his win – and with that cheeky, trademark smile on his face,’ Mr Montgomerie posted on X.

‘Being the Nigel that so many voters like the idea of hanging out with… in a pub. But this recently far too dominant aggrieved tone is still with us. It’s not good.

‘You don’t skip your own victory count without a much better explanation. Anger from politicians can work but only if it’s on behalf of others – not yourself. He’s distracting from his victory. Puzzling.’

Labour Party chair Bridget Phillipson claimed Mr Farage still had to ‘come clean’ over his mega-donation from Mr Harborne and his links to George Cottrell, a convicted criminal and long-term ally.

She said: ‘Let’s be clear: this is no victory for Nigel Farage. The mountain of sleaze and scandal he and Reform are now engulfed in has grown and grown while he’s been trying to distract the public by fighting a by-election against a bin.

‘This morning, Nigel Farage shouldn’t be celebrating – he should wake up and smell the coffee. He must come clean with the public and put all the facts on the table over his secret £5 million gift, his relationship with a convicted fraudster, and the other scandals his party is drowning in.

‘Farage’s distraction by-election doesn’t clear his name – it just shows he likely has so much more to hide.’

The Liberal Democrats said the parliamentary probe into Mr Farage’s donations ‘must crack on’.

Count Binface said he was ‘the winning candidate of the candidates who bothered to turn up for the results’ and that the Clacton result had ‘humiliated’ Mr Farage.

He also noted how he received a near 10,000 per cent increase in his vote share than he won at the Makerfield by-election in June against Andy Burnham, who went on to replace Keir Starmer as Prime Minister.

In a video posted on X, Count Binface said: ‘I can officially say that I am the winning candidate of the candidates who bothered to turn up for the results.

‘That’s right, 9,455 actual votes. Just eight weeks ago in Makerfield, I got 95. That means I’ve got against Nigel Farage 10,000 per cent more votes than I got against Andy Burnham. What does that tell you?

‘Well, it tells you that Nigel, who said that he didn’t want to be humiliated, maybe has been. As for me, I’m over the moon. I’m over your moon. I’m over my moons. And what comes next? Well, we shall see.

‘But you know what? We know this for a fact. Over one in four people in this constituency would rather have Count Binface as their MP than the leader of Reform UK, and I’m just getting started.’

Reform’s chairman Lee Anderson said he had not spoken to Mr Farage about the claim he had been advised not to attend the official result declaration.

He told BBC Breakfast: ‘I’ve not spoken to Nigel about this. I’ve not spoken to Essex Police.

‘If Nigel gets up on stage and says that he’s been advised not to attend the event, then I believe Nigel above the police, and especially above you lot at the BBC.’

Polling guru Professor Sir John Curtice said the turnout for the Clacton by-election of 44.37 per cent would allow Reform to argue that local voters had not regarded the contest triggered by Mr Farage as a ‘stunt’ or a ‘farce’.

He highlighted how it was 10 percentage points above the turnout of the 2008 by-election in Haltemprice and Howden, which was triggered by Tory candidate David Davis but boycotted by other parties.

Sir John told BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme: ‘The argument that was being used by Farage’s opponents is this was a stunt; it was a farce, as exemplified by the fact that Count Binface was seemingly his own serious candidate.

‘Reform will now be able to point out not only as a result of the high turnout, the number of votes that they’ve got, but that also that evidently at 44 per cent, the turnout is 10 points above what happened in David Davis’s by-election.

‘It’s not much below what it was in either Runcorn or Gorton and Denton in the by-elections there, and it was actually higher than the two parliamentary by-elections in Scotland recently.

‘Therefore, I think they will be able to argue that, for the voters at least, it is not obvious that they regarded this as a stunt or a farce. They did turn out in numbers that are quite healthy by the standards of modern by-elections.’

Count Binface had earlier said the result of the Clacton by-election, which cost taxpayers £250,000, did not matter because ‘we’ll be back again in a few weeks anyway’.

Mr Farage faces awkward questions after the result because, while he increased his share of the vote from 46.2 per cent to 63.3 per cent, around a third of voters backed novelty candidates with no policies and no realistic prospect of winning.

With the by-election sowing seeds of discontent even among some of Mr Farage’s most loyal supporters, his 8,405 majority in 2024 increased to 12,784.

Count Binface, whose key pledges included keeping ice creams with flakes at 99p, making arcade grabber games fairer and filling potholes with the 2024 Labour manifesto became the first comedy candidate in parliamentary history to save his deposit.

He pulled in thousands of votes in the record-breaking 34-candidate contest, which featured three Monster Raving Loony Party hopefuls and former actor Laurence Fox.

The turnout was slightly higher than expected, at 44.37 per cent, but lower than the 52.5 per cent at Mr Burnham’s Makerfield by-election victory last month.

But Mr Farage was not in the hall to hear the result – and the first election winner to miss the declaration since IRA member Bobby Sands, who had died in prison after a hunger strike.

Acting returning officer Ian Davidson, for Tendring District Council, announced over the tannoy system in the early hours of Friday that Mr Farage would not be attending.

‘I just want to say we work very closely with Essex Police and have done so throughout this process and continue to do so tonight,’ said Mr Davidson. ‘We will continue with the count as we always do in a safe and secure manner.’

‘I will not comment on security matters, but I am going to say that we are working closely with Essex Police and we have just had a further meeting and there is no issue in terms of completing the count tonight,’ he added.

Essex Police denied they advised Mr Farage to stay away and said in a statement: ‘We have a proportionate and robust policing operation to ensure the safety and security of all participants in the count.’

Mr Farage had declared himself the ‘fairly convincing’ winner at around 1am while celebrating at his ‘Farage Fest’ in the Essex countryside, which included fairground rides and a Ferris wheel.

The Reform leader’s re-election to Parliament was confirmed at around 6am when the count was completed at Clacton Leisure Centre.

In a barbed comment aimed at Binface, Mr Farage said: ‘I have managed to beat the establishment candidate.’

Binface hit back, saying the by-election had shown that a huge number of people in Clacton ‘would rather vote for a space warrior shaped like a bin than Nigel Farage’.

He added: ‘It says more about what the actual population thinks about Nigel Farage than maybe this election.’

Former Reform parliamentary candidate Pamela Walford, who stood as an independent, said Mr Farage’s by-election had turned Clacton into the ‘laughing stock of the world’.

The leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party, Howling Laud Hope, said: ‘Binface is the poor man’s loony. We’re the most sensible part of the lot.’

Mr Farage may yet face another by-election in Clacton if he is found to have broken parliamentary rules by taking millions from Mr Harborne before taking his seat in the Commons two years ago.

He also faces a second investigation over undeclared donations from his close friend Mr Cottrell – known as ‘Posh George’ and who was convicted of wire fraud in the US – with the sleaze inquiries not expected to conclude until September at the earliest.

‘Do you know, if I made one sin, if I haven’t filled in a piece of paper, I’ve broken no law, I’ve broken no tax law, I’ve taken no public money,’ Mr Farage said of the donations row this morning.

‘Maybe I haven’t filled in a piece of paper. I’m confident that I’m right, we’ll see where we go. I put this to the people of Clacton, said ‘you decide my future’, and tonight they will.’

If Parliament’s standards committee recommends suspending Mr Farage for more than 10 days, and he loses any appeal, his constituents would have the right to trigger another Clacton by-election that the major parties are more likely to contest.

Count Binface said: ‘It might just be that this election is the start of a two-legged match, like the Carabao Cup or the Cold War. The game isn’t over yet, because we’re going to be back again in a few weeks aren’t we? We’ll see what happens then.’

Neither Labour, the Conservatives nor the Lib Dems fielded candidates on Thursday, dismissing the contest as an expensive ‘farce’ called because the Reform leader is allegedly ‘up to his neck in sleaze’.

Mr Farage had triggered the by-election by resigning as Clacton’s MP in early July, insisting voters should decide whether he deserved to continue in office amid scrutiny of his financial affairs.

The Reform leader argued a fresh mandate was the only way to break the ‘paralysis’ engulfing Reform UK as questions swirled around crypto-currency donations, undeclared benefits and his personal finances.

But while Mr Farage claimed vindication after securing re-election, critics accused him of turning the Essex seaside town into a ‘circus’ featuring Count Binface, Reclaim Party leader Mr Fox and dozens of independents and novelty candidates.

The result came at a difficult time for Reform, with recent polls suggesting Labour has edged ahead of Mr Farage’s party nationally.

Mr Farage is under investigation by Parliament’s standards commissioner over the £5million donation from Thailand-based Mr Harborne that was not declared after the 2024 general election.

The Clacton MP has also faced questions over support provided by Mr Cottrell, who reportedly funded staff and accommodation used by the Reform leader before and after last year’s election.

Mr Farage insists he has done nothing wrong and says all support he received complied with the rules.

However, if the standards commissioner were to uphold complaints against him, it could potentially trigger further political consequences and renewed scrutiny of his position and another by-election in Clacton if locals demand it.

The Reform leader defended his decision to force yesterday’s by-election, saying it gave residents the chance to act as ‘the judges of my actions’.

Announcing his resignation last month, he said: ‘I have done nothing wrong. I have not broken the law in any way at all.’

He added: ‘This will be a people versus the Establishment by-election. It’s a chance to stick two fingers up to the entire Establishment.’

But opponents argued the move backfired.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch mocked the contest, saying: ‘If it’s the people versus the establishment, I think Nigel Farage might be looking like the establishment, and Count Binface may be the people. This whole thing is a farce.’

A spokesman for Mr Burnham described the vote as a ‘gimmick designed to distract from serious allegations about Farage’s funders’.

Sir Keir previously claimed Mr Farage had ‘run himself into a cul-de-sac’ by quitting as an MP and forcing a by-election and was ‘up to his neck in sleaze’.

The Clacton by-election had 34 candidates - making it the longest ballot paper in British electoral history at around 3ft long

The Clacton by-election had 34 candidates – making it the longest ballot paper in British electoral history at around 3ft long

One of the biggest talking points of the contest was the performance of Count Binface, who became the first comedy candidate ever to retain a parliamentary deposit.

The self-described ‘5,900-year-old space warrior’ won thousands of votes after campaigning on promises including ‘building one affordable house’ and ‘nationalising Adele’.

Before Thursday’s result, the late Screaming Lord Sutch was widely regarded as Britain’s most successful novelty election candidate.

In the 1994 Rotherham by-election he secured around 1,100 votes and 4.2 per cent of the vote, still short of the 5 per cent threshold required to recover his deposit.

Mr Farage had repeatedly accused the major parties of secretly ‘working together’ by refusing to contest the seat and undermining his attempt to frame the vote as a battle against the establishment.

He comfortably won Clacton at the 2024 general election with a majority of 8,405 and 46.2 per cent of the vote.

The by-election is also likely to prove expensive.

The average cost of a Westminster by-election is around £240,000, but Clacton’s bill is expected to be higher because it featured the longest ballot paper in British electoral history.

Tendring Council admitted printing costs were around four times higher than normal because of the 34-candidate field.

Alongside Count Binface, an intergalactic space warrior played by Jonathan Harvey who has stood at elections since 2017 and had never before received more than 308 votes, the people of Clacton were largely presented with a string of eccentric oddballs.

Questions over Mr Farage’s finances have continued to dog him throughout the campaign.

The £5million donation from Mr Harborne was not declared when Mr Farage entered Parliament, with the Reform leader arguing the money was a personal payment linked to security costs and his role in Brexit.

He has also refused to distance himself from Mr Cottrell, saying he will not abandon his friend.

Meanwhile, Reform’s position in the polls has slipped since the by-election was announced.

A recent Daily Mail poll-of-polls put Labour on 25 per cent, narrowly ahead of Reform on 24 per cent, with the Conservatives on 20 per cent.

Mr Farage’s personal ratings have also come under pressure amid the row over his finances and his decision to trigger the vote.

One recent poll suggested his net approval rating had fallen sharply in the weeks after the by-election was called, leaving him with his lowest rating since returning as Reform leader more than two years ago.

Yet despite the criticism, Mr Farage will argue that voters in Clacton have delivered the verdict that matters most, handing him another victory in the seat he risked everything to defend.

Generosity Backfires: How Charity Donations Trigger Endless Fundraising Mail Deluge

0

DEAR ABBY: I’ve consistently donated quarterly to two prominent children’s cancer research charities for many years, sincerely supporting their mission. Yet, recently, I’ve been inundated with more frequent appeals for donations.

While one organization maintains its quarterly requests, the other has ramped up to monthly, weekly, and even multiple times a week mailings. Additionally, I’m receiving phone messages, texts, and emails, despite never providing them with any contact information beyond my mailing address.

Today, I was overwhelmed by seven pieces of mail, six of which were solicitations, and surprisingly, five were from groups I do not recognize. It seems my details might have been sold or shared with other nonprofits. This barrage makes me feel like my donations are funneled into generating more requests, so I’ve decided to cease donations to them and instead support local school programs.

Is there a way to get them to stop mailing me? I hope this message reaches them, prompting them to reconsider their approach before losing donors. — FULL MAILBOX IN CALIFORNIA

DEAR FULL MAILBOX: According to Give.org, it is common for businesses and charities to sell or share donors’ contact information. Your name could be included on lists associated with specific interest groups or products, which are then used by various charitable organizations.

You may be able to lessen the onslaught of appeals you receive by writing directly to the charities whose mail you don’t want and asking them to delete your name from the mailing lists they rent or exchange. (A Better Business Bureau standard requires that a charity offer contributors an opt-out opportunity in its appeals at least once a year.)

Enclose the mailing label or return card that came with your appeal when you contact the charity. Be sure to add the correct postage to their envelope on which you have written “delete my name” or “return to sender” because charities’ nonprofit mailing rates do not pay for returns.

DEAR ABBY: My mom passed last year. I’m 50, and my brother is 52. He has never been good with money. He’s gullible and lets people take advantage of him. He will not let me help him.

Should I get a guardianship for him or let him fend for himself? We already have a rocky relationship. I worry that taking control of his finances will make it worse. However, I would feel guilty if he mismanaged his money, and I think Mom would want me to help him. What should I do? — MY BROTHER’S KEEPER

DEAR BROTHER’S KEEPER: Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your mother. It’s unfortunate these questions weren’t settled before her passing. Because your brother needs someone to look out for him, and you are the only one who can fill this role with his best interests in mind, discuss this with an attorney. Of course, it will need to be explained to your brother. Don’t put off talking with him, even if the subject is uncomfortable for one or both of you.

Revealed: Lindsay Clancy’s Heartbreaking Last Texts to Husband Before Tragic Family Incident

0

In a gripping moment during Thursday’s court proceedings, prosecutors unveiled text messages sent by Lindsay Clancy to her husband, Patrick, while he was out running errands on the day she allegedly took the lives of their three children. The chilling exchange was accompanied by footage capturing a seemingly joyous family outing to a museum, which occurred just weeks before the heartbreaking events unfolded.

The 36-year-old Clancy is facing grave charges for the murder of her children—Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, who was only eight months old—on January 24, 2023, at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The tragic case has drawn considerable attention, raising complex issues surrounding mental health and justice.

While Clancy has acknowledged her role in her children’s deaths, she asserts her plea of not guilty on the grounds of insanity, claiming she suffered from postpartum psychosis. In a bid to seek accountability beyond the criminal case, she is also pursuing legal action against her former healthcare providers, alleging medical malpractice and negligence.

In a detail that starkly contrasts the tragic outcome, jurors learned of Clancy’s mundane texts to Patrick just an hour before the children were discovered dead. This revelation adds a perplexing layer to the case, challenging narratives and perceptions about her mental state at the time.

Adding to the emotional weight of the trial was a video shown to the court, depicting the family’s recent visit to the Boston Museum of Science. The footage, which visibly moved Clancy, painted a picture of happier times, leaving onlookers to grapple with the monumental shift from those light-hearted moments to the day’s incomprehensible agony.

‘Any chance you want to do takeout from ThreeV,’ Clancy texted Patrick about a local restaurant at 4.53pm that night, according to testimony from Massachusetts State Police trooper Timothy Chiappini.

‘Yeah,’ Patrick responded.

‘Okie dokie,’ Clancy replied. ‘Check the menu when you can.’

At that point, Patrick asked Clancy what she wanted to order – and whether their baby boy, Callan, had woken up yet, to which Clancy replied that he had.

‘It was just a short nap,’ she responded.

‘Oh, OK,’ Patrick then texted back.

Minutes later, Clancy texted him her food order and he replied with his.

Patrick was then seen on surveillance footage at a nearby CVS picking up medication for his ailing daughter before stopping by the restaurant to pick up the food.

But when he returned home that night, he found his wife sprawled out on the lawn, paralyzed and his children strangled with exercise bands in the basement.

Patrick previously described in heartbreaking testimony how the first child he saw when he then rushed down into the basement was his daughter, Cora, who he said ‘had a band around her neck’ and was ‘face down.’

He previously described the bands as if you ‘tied your shoes but don’t tie the bow.’

‘I immediately ran over and tried to take the band off,’ Patrick continued.

He said she was unresponsive. He then noticed Callan next to Cora with a band around his neck.

Finally, Patrick said he found Dawson and said he ‘knew he was gone.’

Just weeks before, on January 8, the family was seen on an outing to the science museum.

The video started off by showing Patrick picking Dawson out of the stroller and leading him over to one exhibit, while Clancy was left with Cora and baby Callan strapped to her chest in a carrier.

Clancy could then be seen leading Cora over to one of the exhibits, explaining how to interact with it while Patrick and Dawson were seen standing at a distance, before coming forward to enjoy the exhibit themselves.

Patrick would praise his wife as ‘a good mama’ on the morning of his children’s deaths, after he asked how Cora’s doctor’s appointment went that morning, text messages revealed.

But when authorities later investigated the children’s deaths, they uncovered a number of concerning Google searches Clancy made in the days and weeks before the killings, including a search just four days prior, on January 20, when she searched ‘can you treat a sociopath?’

Clancy’s other searches included ‘how to slit your throat to die,’ ‘where is the carotid artery’ and ‘how to turn airbags off on Kia Sorento,’ jurors heard on Thursday.

A search of her phone also uncovered a note she wrote on October 25, 2022, in which she divulged that she ‘resents’ her two older children ‘because they prevent me from treating Cal like my first baby.’

‘I’m terrified of something happening to my kids or doing something wrong to mess up their development,’ she continued.

‘I am sad and depressed because I am not able to parent my third child like my first.’

‘I am sad that I stopped breastfeeding. I feel not as connected with Cal now. I think I sort of resent my other children because they prevent me from treating Cal like my first baby. And I know that’s not fair to them.’

She also appeared to write about wanting to have more children.

‘I want to feel love and connection with all my kids. I’m also probably having a bit of an internal conflict because my whole life I wanted to have a lot of kids,’ the note continued.

‘I still don’t want Cal to be our last, but I have a lot of figuring out to do before I have another.’

Clancy was seen putting her head in her hands at the defense table while trooper Chiappini read the note.

The heartbreaking murder trial is now scheduled to continue on Monday morning.

Tokyo Airport Flood Tragedy Claims Four Lives, 7,000 Stranded; Hawaii Prepares for Tropical Storm Threat

0

Unprecedented rainfall has left numerous travelers stranded at Narita Airport in Tokyo, as flooding has severely disrupted transportation, cut power lines, and tragically resulted in at least four fatalities.

Over the course of just 24 hours leading up to Friday, more than 360mm of rain deluged areas in Chiba prefecture, next to Tokyo. This torrential downpour flooded roads and railways, while plunging nearly 25,000 homes into darkness during one of Japan’s peak holiday seasons.

Officials have confirmed four deaths, highlighting that at least one individual was lost in a vehicle overtaken by floodwaters.

In response to the crisis, soldiers have been deployed to the region to assist with emergency relief operations.

“This occurrence was extraordinarily rare, even for Japan where extreme weather can be expected,” remarked Chiba governor Toshihito Kumagai to reporters on Friday.

“I have responded to many ‌disasters in the past, but I have never experienced a case like this.”

The transport disruption left around 7,000 people stranded at Narita airport, an airport spokesperson said, adding that all flights are scheduled to operate normally on Friday. Japan Airlines said some flights may experience delays but ‌no cancellations are currently expected.

Major highways in Chiba, including routes linking Narita airport, one of Japan’s main international transport hubs, with central Tokyo, remained closed, forcing drivers onto alternative routes and causing heavy traffic, according to highway operator NEXCO East.

Several rail services remained suspended on Friday morning, though some trains connecting Narita to Tokyo had resumed operations.

Pacific weather mayhem

Elsewhere in the Pacific, Hawaii has declared a state of emergency on Friday as it prepared for Tropical Storm Lala, which could bring powerful winds, flooding and landslides this weekend.

The Pacific storm is gaining strength according to the United States’ National Weather Service, which expects it to become a hurricane as it approaches.

Winds were blowing at around 80km/h and the storm could dump up to 63.5 cm of rain in parts of the Hawaii, the weather service added.

Governor Josh Green declared a state of emergency in response to the threat, an administrative measure that frees up funds, resources and personnel in the event of damage.

“Tropical Storm Lala poses a serious threat to our state, particularly Hawaii Island — and we are taking action now to ensure resources are available where they are needed,” he said.

With 210,000 residents, Hawaii Island is the archipelago’s second-most populous island, far behind Oahu, which is home to more than one million people.

The storm’s path remains uncertain, but it is expected to remain offshore.

The last tropical storm to directly strike the archipelago was in 2018.

El Niño, a weather phenomenon that is particularly strong this year, is warming the equatorial Pacific and increasing the likelihood of cyclones. Meteorologists expect a much more active-than-average hurricane season in the region.

Scientists regularly warn that climate change, caused by humanity’s burning of fossil fuels, is increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.

UNICEF Report Dismantles Gaza Starvation Allegations, Confirming Israel’s Humanitarian Support, Says State Dept

0

In an assertive response to recent findings by UNICEF concerning malnutrition in the Gaza Strip, the Trump State Department has declared the report as forcefully negating allegations that Israel intentionally caused starvation among civilians in the Hamas-governed region.

The uproar stems from a widely cited United Nations report, used by numerous global media outlets, which projected continued starvation issues in Gaza stretching into June.

This contentious discourse emerges in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas into southern Israel resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths and the abduction of 251 Israeli and foreign nationals. Israel’s subsequent military action in Gaza ignited charges of genocide and deliberate starvation strategies directed at Gazan civilians.

UNICEF’s comprehensive National Nutrition Cluster report, published last month, examined the malnutrition risk affecting 1,335 children under the age of five, covering 83% of the Gaza Strip. Evaluating malnutrition through weight-for-height Z-score (WHZ) and mid-upper-arm circumference (MUAC), the study revealed that WHZ rates varied from 0.2% in Khan Younis and Rafah to 0.8% in Gaza City, while MUAC metrics indicated malnutrition ranging from 1.5% in Gaza City to 1.9% in Deir Al-Balah.

Limitations in reaching about 17% of the population were acknowledged, attributed to prevailing security challenges and operational restrictions.

A State Department spokesperson told News Media that “UNICEF’s latest findings demonstrate another example that completely shatters the countless false allegations against Israel of deliberate starvation of civilians in Gaza. There are U.N. entities, media outlets and NGOs that should retract and correct their politicized and baseless attacks on Israel – which has provided an unprecedented over 2 million tons of food into Gaza since the ceasefire.”

The rates of malnutrition UNICEF documented are on par with, or substantially lower than, those in some neighboring countries. According to a post on X from the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), acute malnutrition figures in the region range from 1.3% in Gaza, Lebanon, and Turkey to 2.3% in Jordan, 3.3% in Egypt, 12.2% in Syria and 17.7% in Sudan.

UNICEF’s report has raised ire from onlookers who took issue with the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) statement that famine was “confirmed” in Gaza in August 2025.

The catalyst for the uproar was the IPC’s warning from August 2025 that famine had reached Gaza Governorate. At that time, the IPC estimated that “through June 2026, at least 132,000 children under 5 are expected to suffer from acute malnutrition,” including 41,000 severe cases where children would be “at heightened risk of death.”

The IPC is expected to release a full report on conditions in Gaza “in the coming days.” Prior to releasing the report, they have assessed that the Gaza Strip would be in Phase 2, the “alert” phase for malnutrition, between July and December 2026. They state that “74,200 children aged 6–59 months will likely require treatment for acute malnutrition through April 2027, with more than 11,400 severe cases expected.”

UNICEF’s July report found that “very few confirmed nutrition-related deaths have been reported during treatment” in Gaza. The IPC did not respond to questions about UNICEF’s findings or whether they stood by their prior claims that famine had been reached in Gaza.

(Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images)

The State Department spokesperson added that “the United States, in coordination with Israel, have facilitated humanitarian assistance while taking important steps to prevent Hamas from diverting or looting the aid, providing more support to Gazans. The president has a bold and ambitious plan to rebuild Gaza, which is well underway through the efforts of the Board of Peace to facilitate disarming Hamas and ensure it is no longer a threat to Israel.”

Andrew Fox, a senior fellow at the Henry Jackson Society who has closely studied the Gaza conflict, told News Media that “the new data shows that the allegations of famine in Gaza were pure hysteria.” He said that while “certain small pockets of hunger occurred in Gaza, we now know this can only have been an issue of distribution. Once again, international organizations removed Hamas and their share of the blame for Gaza’s suffering from the conversation, stoking the anti-Israel narrative.”

Prof. Aron Troen, director of the Nutrition and Brain Health Laboratory who teaches in the School of Nutrition Science and the School of Public Health at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, told News Media that the UNICEF findings are “very, very good news.” He said it was “remarkable that in an area which was very recently claimed to be experiencing not only famine, but a deliberate and imposed political famine, that the situation has gone to the point that the current measures, and at least some of them, right now are better than…other places in the Arab world.”

“It’s important to state that if one wishes to take seriously the efforts to identify humanitarian need and provide an adequate response, then you have to be just as open to the good news as to the bad news,” Troen said. He further decried “narratives” surrounding the report “that serve political agendas.” He said that if there were the possibility of “a gradual transfer of pragmatic agency to a Palestinian governance in the interests of two states, respect for borders, coexistence,” that it “requires people to stop throwing around genocide, famine, and impugning one side or the other in order to gain political leverage.”

Kurtis Cooper, Chief of Global Media at UNICEF, told News Media that “the recent nutrition survey measures conditions in mid-2026, more than nine months after the IPC confirmed famine in August 2025 and after a ceasefire and substantial scale-up in humanitarian assistance. It does not tell us what conditions were in August 2025, and it was never designed to.”

Cooper said that “in terms of why the situation has improved, during the period covered by the August 2025 IPC analysis, programmes to detect and treat malnutrition were largely operating, but blanket supplementary feeding had largely ceased across Gaza because of severe access constraints and supply disruptions. Programme data show a similar trend: admissions for treatment of acute malnutrition peaked at nearly 17,000 children in August 2025 before falling to around 3,100 by May 2026.”

Cooper did not answer questions about how WHZ rates measured in Gaza compare to those in other countries experiencing widespread human suffering.

In May, UNICEF reported that in Sudan, “almost 100,000 children were admitted for treatment for severe acute malnutrition” between January and March. UNICEF estimated that 825,000 children under 5 would experience severe acute malnutrition in Sudan in 2026.

Andrew Fox called on “leading organizations” to “offer a public and full retraction of their error-strewn papers.” He explained that “their mistakes have paved the way for an explosion in global antisemitism, and these organizations must own their roles in that and make amends as loudly as possible.”

According to the J7 Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism, 2025 was the deadliest year for antisemitic attacks around the world since 1994.

Arizona 8th Grader Charged After Dodgeball Game Escalates to Targeted Assault on Ex-Girlfriend

0

An Arizona teenager has been charged with assault following an incident in which he and two friends allegedly targeted his ex-girlfriend “relentlessly” during a gym class. The attack, involving dodgeballs, reportedly left the girl with bruises.

Abel Schipper, the accused, insisted that he did not intend to harm his classmate when he, along with his pals, launched dodgeballs at her during warm-ups at Mayer High School, located about an hour from Phoenix, back in December 2025.

“I didn’t think a dodgeball would hurt. And these are small ones too. So you can squeeze them and like they compress and stuff,” Schipper explained to AZ Family on Wednesday.

A social worker involved in the case contacted the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office soon after the alleged incident, claiming the boys had “relentlessly assaulted her with dodgeballs when she came out of the bathroom.”

According to a police report acquired by the outlet, the girl was reportedly hospitalized with significant bruising on her upper right rib cage and lower right abdomen as a result of the incident.

Schipper and the other boys told police that the dodgeball warm-up was already underway when they targeted the girl and were adamant it wasn’t malicious.

Schipper admitted to the outlet that he threw a dodgeball at his ex-girlfriend and “hit her,” while another boy missed and a third “also hit” her.

“Obviously I’m going to have to target somebody for dodgeball. It’s dodgeball,” the 13-year-old said. “You have to choose somebody, throw the ball, then try to get them out.”

The teen’s mother, Cecily Schipper, told AZ Family she had no idea police had interviewed her son at school over the incident — only finding out months later when a letter from the Yavapai County Juvenile Justice Center arrived informing her that Abel had been charged with misdemeanor assault.

“It is absolutely ridiculous. This is a game that every kid in the nation plays at some point in their life,” the mother told the outlet.

“They’re considering the dodgeball a weapon and that he knowingly or willingly, recklessly harmed this girl just playing dodgeball in PE.”

Cecily Schipper said she would understand her son would deserve “punishment” if the situation was “boys will be boys,” but thinks things have gone too far.

She then claimed that her son’s ex-girlfriend allegedly texted her “for rides home after this incident happened in December.”

“It’s just strange. And I was friends with her mom as well,” she said.

The case goes before a judge on Aug. 17.

In 2019, a 10-year-old Michigan boy faced charges of assault when he was accused of throwing a dodgeball at a student’s head, which injured the peer, during a schoolyard game.

The boy’s mother, Cameishi Triplett Lindley, said at the time that the ball thrown by her son resulted in a student suffering a concussion, according to a Facebook fundraiser at the time.

Her son was suspended from school and charged with assault, which were dropped after the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case, according to CBS.

Bob Lee’s Convicted Killer Plans Bold Race Card Strategy to Challenge Verdict

0

The convicted killer of Cash App founder Bob Lee intends to argue that racial prejudice influenced the outcome of his trial as he prepares an appeal.

Nima Momeni is scheduled to return to a San Francisco courtroom on Friday for an evidentiary hearing. This session is a crucial step in his effort to overturn the murder conviction of Lee.

Momeni, aged 42, was found guilty of stabbing 43-year-old Lee to death in April 2023 and now faces a potential sentence ranging from 16 years to life imprisonment.

His legal team is preparing to argue that the prosecution breached the guidelines of California’s Racial Justice Act during the trial.

According to Courthouse News, the upcoming hearing aims to address remarks made during the trial that referred to Momeni, who is Iranian-born, as an ‘animal’ and included other dehumanizing characterizations that questioned his mental stability.

Momeni’s defense team are also set to submit evidence that the prosecution emphasized the keffiyeh, a traditional Middle Eastern headscarf, and other ethnically rooted tactics in the prosecution’s strategy, the outlet reported.

Daniel Shriro, Momeni’s attorney, told Courthouse News in a statement that he was looking forward to the hearing.

The law passed in 2020 prohibits ‘biased based on race, ethnicity, or national origin in charges, convictions and sentences.’

Early on, online speculation was rife that Bob Lee (pictured), 43, had been a victim of a fatal robbery on April 4, 2023 - which turned out to be untrue

‘The prosecution made an argument, “this is the type of person to do this,”‘ Shriro said on Tuesday, the outlet reported.

‘It’s bad because it’s character evidence; it’s worse because the traits are linked to the defendant’s ethnicity and racial group.’

Assistant District Attorney Natalie Fuchs said that she believed the racial bias evidence presented ‘lacked specificity where particular issues occurred.’

She added that descriptors such as ‘animal’ and ‘psycho’ were taken from text messages or testimony from Momeni’s sister.

‘The evidence, if you can even call that evidence, does not rise to that threshold,’ Fuchs added.

Momeni stabbed Lee three times in April 2023 after hearing that his drug-dealing friend allegedly plied his younger sister, Khazar Momeni, with GHB and other drugs and sexually assaulted her.

In lengthy testimony, she accused the alleged drug dealer, Jeremy Boivin, of giving her the ‘date rape’ drug GHB, pulling her pants down and sexually assaulting her while she remained unconscious.

Khazar stated that Lee brought Boivin to her home on the morning of April 3, 2023, the day before the fatal stabbing.

‘I did not know he’s a drug dealer, as we don’t get close to our drug dealers or invite them upstairs even. He was introduced to me as a friend,’ she said. ‘[H]e brought me a big tank of nitrous and he had a big bottle of a liter of GHB.’

Khazar later went to Boivin’s home, where Lee and another friend also stopped by. After Lee and his friend left, she claimed she passed out after consuming drugs.

She told the court that she had consumed three shots of a drink mixed with GHB before ‘passing out.’

‘He asked me about GHB and gave me, like, this sweet little drink, a little shot. And I drank it. I thought I could trust him,’ Khazar said.

‘I remember waking up twice: One time he (Boivin) pulled down my pants and slapped my ass. And another time he grabbed my ass, but I couldn’t move or do anything.’

At a party, on the night of the murder, Momeni confronted Lee about his sister, asking if she was doing drugs or ‘anything inappropriate.’ According to a witness, Lee told Momeni that nothing inappropriate had happened.

Momeni and Lee met up again later that night at Khazar’s luxury apartment in Millennium Tower.

Surveillance footage showed the two getting into Momeni’s white BMW at around 2am on April 4 and leave the scene.

The tech mogul was found staggering on a deserted downtown street, dripping a trail of blood and calling for help. Lee later died in hospital.

‘One person called 911 pleading for help, saying somebody stabbed me,’ said Dane Reinstedt, assistant district attorney, adding that the other person never called police or told anyone what happened that night until the trial.

But defense attorneys said Lee had been on a multi-day drug bender of cocaine and ketamine that made him agitated and violent, and that he attacked the defendant with a knife.

They said Momeni was forced to use his Krav Maga martial arts skills in the early morning hours of April 4, 2023, after ‘making a ‘bad joke’ that upset Lee – and did not realize he had stabbed him.

Lee’s ex-wife, Krista Lee, said her former spouse could have given anyone the ‘shirt off his back.’

‘Had Bob been approached by someone that was trying to mug him, he would’ve given him, them, the shirt off his back, his wallet, his keys, his clothes. He would’ve said: “Hey, man, let me buy you a meal. Please don’t hurt me,”‘ she told Dateline.

Momeni is yet to be sentenced and remains in a San Francisco County Jail.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Assistant DA Fuchs and Momeni’s lawyer Daniel Shiro.
