Dorothea Puente is an American serial killer. She was notoriously known as the “Death House Land Lady” after committing nine murders.

Between 1982 and 1989, Puente would take in the vulnerable and homeless people. She would later kill them by poisoning or strangling them.

Dorothea Puente ran a death house in Sacramento, California in the 1980s.

There she murdered many elderly and mentally disabled people. After that, she would cash their social security checks for easy money.

Puente had been burying the victims on her property in Sacramento.

After the disappearance of many elderly people, suspicion arose about Puente in 1988. It was after 52-year-old Alvaro Montoya had gone missing.

Despite her repeated attempts to cover up her crime, the Police were eventually allowed to dig up her garden.

The remains of Leona Carpenter, 78, were eventually discovered by police. Meanwhile, six more bodies were discovered in her garden.

Alberto Montoya, Dorothy Miller, Benjamin Fink, James Gallop, Vera Faye Martin, and Betty Palmer were among the other victims of Puente.

During the investigation phase, two more murders were confirmed. Her other victims were identified as Ruth Monroe and Everson Gillmouth.

Dorothea Puente’s Death House Story: Is It Haunted By Her Victims?

Dorothea Puente’s death house is said to be haunted.

Behind the scenes at her boarding house, many elderly and disabled people were killed and buried.

After many claims about the house being haunted, Ghost Adventures’ Zak Bagan and his crew have investigated the resident at Sacramento, CA.

During the investigation, the crew had discovered potential evidence of many undiscovered victims. Further, confirming the house as haunted.

The death house is still regularly included on ghost and history tours of the Northern California city.

Dorothea Puente’s Children And Husband Details

Dorothea Puente had been married four times in her life. Her husbands were Fred McFaul, Axel Johanson, Roberto Puente, and Pedro Montalvo.

According to sources, Puente had several children with McFaul. Although, did not raise any of them.

Her two daughters, both were put off in the adoption. They were reportedly raised by one of her relatives in Sacramento.

According to Dailymail, seven years after the death of Puente, a man named William Harder had claimed to be her grandson.

Puente was born Dorothea Helen Gray on January 9, 1929. She had a traumatic childhood after being raised by alcoholic parents.
