Kim Victoria Cattrall is a British-Canadian actress who was born on August 21, 1956. She was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards and five Emmy Awards for her work as Samantha Jones on HBO’s Sex and the City (1998–2004), for which she won the 2002 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. In the movies Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2, she played the part again.
Following the release of Rosebud in 1975, Cattrall went on to play a number of roles on television.
Films like Ticket to Heaven (1981), Police Academy (1984), City Limits (1985), Big Trouble in Little China (1986), Mannequin (1987), Masquerade (1988), Midnight Crossing (1988), and The Return of the Musketeers (1988) helped her gain notoriety in the 1980s (1989).
She collaborated with director Bob Clark on multiple times, and she appeared in four of his movies: Tribute (1980), Porky’s (1981), Turk 182 (1985), and Baby Geniuses (1999). The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990), Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), Split Second (1992), Above Suspicion (1995), 15 Minutes (2001), Crossroads (2002), Ice Princess (2005), My Boy Jack (2007), The Ghost Writer (2010), and Meet Monica Velour are a few of her additional film credits.
Cattrall made a theater appearance in the Broadway production of Michael Frayn’s Wild Honey in 1986. Other stage performances she has performed in include Miss Julie by August Strindberg (McCarter Theatre Center, 1993), Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare (Liverpool Playhouse, 2010), Private Lives by Nol Coward (Broadway, 2011), and Sweet Bird of Youth by Tennessee Williams (The Old Vic, 2013).
Sensitive Skin, an HBO Canada series that ran from 2014 to 2016, starring Cattrall and she also acted as executive producer. For this work, she was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
She later starred on the Paramount+ streaming television series Tell Me a Story and Fox drama Filthy Rich. As of 2022, she stars in How I Met Your Father as Future Sophie, and Brenda Beaumont in Queer as Folk.

Kim Victoria Cattrall, the daughter of construction engineer Dennis Cattrall and secretary Gladys Shane, was born on August 21, 1956, in the Mossley Hill neighborhood of Liverpool. Christopher was the name of her brother (died 2018). Her family arrived in Canada when she was three months old and made Courtenay, British Columbia, their home. She moved back to Liverpool at the age of 11 when her grandma fell ill. She studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for a year, but after returning to Canada for her first acting role at age 16, she relocated to New York City.
