Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Patric J’Kwaun Lee, 19, was arrested yesterday and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; he is on probation after being released from prison in September 2023 and is also facing 15 sworn complaints for burglary and theft.

At about 3:25 p.m. yesterday, Gainesville Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Lee for speeding; the officers were reportedly familiar with Lee and knew he had never been issued a driver’s license.

Before the vehicle stopped, officers reported seeing Lee and his passenger leaning into the back seat and moving things around.

A search of the vehicle reportedly produced an Anderson Arms 300 Blackout AR pistol, 19 rounds of 300 Blackout ammunition in a magazine, a 9mm Ruger LC9 handgun with one round in the chamber and six rounds in a magazine, and one .45 caliber round.

Post Miranda, Lee reportedly admitted ownership of all the firearms and ammunition.

Lee has been charged with driving without a valid license and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

When he was 17, Lee was charged as an adult with three counts of sexual battery or attempt with injury on a person under 12 by a person under 18, and additional charges of sexual battery on a child under 12 were added in June 2022. Lee went to trial on the original charges of sexual battery on a person under 12 and was acquitted. Regarding the charges added in 2022, he entered a plea of nolo contendere to a charge of aggravated battery with intent to commit a felony, and the charges of sexual battery and lewd/lascivious behavior on a victim under 12 were dropped. Lee served one year and one week in state prison and is currently serving three years and 11 months of probation.

Lee was released from prison on September 20, 2023, and he has been charged with burglarizing a car on October 22. Lee is also a suspect in 16 car burglaries in the Sorority Row area on December 2. He is facing 15 sworn complaints for burglary, theft, and property damage.

Lee allegedly violated his probation by failing a drug test on December 5 and reportedly admitted using marijuana around November 22. He also failed to show up for a mandated sexual offender evaluation. The arrest yesterday was the third violation of his probation.

Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered Lee held without bail for violating probation and set bail at $130,000 on one of the burglary cases and $55,000 on yesterday’s charges; he has not had his first appearance on the remaining burglary cases yet.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
