GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Adarris Demetrius Scott, 30, was arrested yesterday and charged with five felonies and a misdemeanor after allegedly threatening to shoot his girlfriend with a stolen gun.
At about 5:55 p.m. on March 8, a 911 call was received from the victim’s mother, who reportedly said Scott had pulled a gun on his girlfriend and said he was going to kill her.
A Gainesville Police Department officer responded and ordered Scott to raise his hands, but Scott allegedly ran. Officers established a perimeter in the area of the 1700 block of SE 13th Place and apprehended Scott.
A search incident to arrest reportedly produced two 9mm magazines. A GPD K-9 team searched along Scott’s path and reportedly found two bags and a 9mm handgun. When the bags were brought to the patrol vehicle, Scott reportedly said, “How did you find my bag?”
A search of the bags reportedly produced two pistol magazines; one of them was a 50-round drum magazine. The bag also reportedly contained about 45.19 grams of marijuana. The firearm’s serial number led to a report of a firearm stolen in Alachua County in 2023.
Post Miranda, Scott reportedly said he’d gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend that did not involve a gun; he also reportedly said that he had lost the backpack.
Scott has three felony convictions (two violent) and six misdemeanor convictions (none violent). He has served two state prison terms and was last released in 2014. He is currently being held without bond.
