While the decade is only halfway through, the 2020s has already established itself as an exciting decade for shonen manga, particularly Shonen Jump franchises. From new battle manga like Sakamoto Days and Kagurabachi to dramas like Akane-banashi and Blue Box, there’s still plenty for fans to choose from even after many major long-running hits, like Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia, have finally completed their runs.
From March 11 through March 25, 2025, Goo Ranking ran a poll among Japanese fans to find out what the most beloved titles are that began publication in Weekly Shonen Jump in the 2020s. While some results may be more surprising than others, one glaring aspect of the top 25 list is the over-performance of manga that received anime adaptations in the last couple of years, or are soon set to receive them. The first top 10 of these can be seen below.

Mashle & Elusive Samurai Win #1 Spot for Best Shonen Jump Series of the 2020s
- Mashle: Magic and Muscles
- The Elusive Samurai
- Sakamoto Days
- Blue Box
- Dr. STONE: 4D Science
- Me and Roboco
- RuriDragon
- Undead Unluck
- Burn the Witch
- Akane-banashi
Goo Ranking’s top 25 list is packed with many incredible titles, several of which are also likely very familiar to Western fans. Among the bottom 15 alone were Witch Watch, a fantasy-comedy that has just started airing its anime adaptation, Kagurabachi, arguably easily the biggest new action series in WSJ, and Ayakashi Triangle, a romantic comedy that received an anime adaptation in 2023. The top 10, meanwhile, is composed of both expected titles and some surprises.

There’s Good News for One Piece Fans After Over 3-Year Wait
Official fan-favorite spinoff series ‘One Piece in Love’ finally returns to Shonen Jump after more than three years on hiatus.
Notably, Mashle and Elusive Samurai actually tied for first, while Undead Unluck, Burn the Witch and Akane-banashi all tied for eighth place. Tied for eleventh place, the runners-up were Witch Watch and Nue’s Exorcist. Of the titles in the top 10, the only ones without anime adaptations and that aren’t sequels or spinoffs to manga that have been adapted into animation are Ruri Dragon and Akane-banashi. The former is consistently one of Shonen Jump‘s best-selling ongoing series, while the latter has successfully cemented itself in the competitive pages of WSJ despite its somewhat unusual premise.
The title most notably absent from the top 25 is Ichi the Witch. While this series has only been running for a few months, it has already become one of the most popular current titles in Weekly Shonen Jump, achieving success roughly on par with that of Kagurabachi and Blue Box. However, Ichi has not received an anime adaptation and, unlike Kagurabachi, has not yet received any kind of announcement for one.
