Vicki Gunvalson is once again drawing criticism after a recent episode of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, this time over comments she made about feeling uncomfortable in Atlanta. Comedian Dustin Ross took issue with Gunvalson’s reaction, noting that the Housewives city she was visiting is home to a franchise with a predominantly Black cast. Ross questioned whether there was a racial undertone to her discomfort, adding to a long list of controversies that have followed the former Real Housewives of Orange County star.

On an episode of RHUGT, Gunvalson said she felt uneasy while attending a party with the Atlanta Housewives.
“Why are you uncomfortable in Atlanta? But you’re comfortable in racist-a** Orange County, California,” Ross said during an episode of Reality With the King. “Which if you go back and look into the history of that land and who settled there, it’ll make sense why that’s not just a rumor.”
Ross also contrasted Gunvalson’s comfort in Orange County with the scandals that have unfolded among its Housewives over the years, including cheating allegations and drunk driving incidents.
“She said she was uncomfortable. And that’s what I want to focus on. Why the f*** was she uncomfortable in Atlanta?” he asked. “What was it about Black Atlanta where these Black women are in center stage running the show?”
This is far from the first time Vicki Gunvalson faced backlash for her behavior
Gunvalson is a polarizing Housewife and has faced significant criticism over the years. In a 2019 episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, she spoke about her dislike of drag shows.
“I don’t understand it,” she said. “Boys dressed like girls. Girls dress like boys. I don’t get it. Sorry, drags.”
This led to significant backlash from Bravo fans. Her social media behavior in early 2026 also led to criticism. She interacted with a number of MAGA-adjacent posts, including one that described the murder of Renée Good as an “ICE self defense case.” She also liked a post that read, “Breaking News: President Trump expected to replace LGBTQ+ Month with Veteran’s’ [sic] Month. Do you approve this?”
On a previous season of Ultimate Girls Trip, Gunvalson clashed with Dorinda Medley over vaccines. One source told Page Six that Gunvalson told Medley that “everyone who got the vaccine is going to die.” Gunvalson has denied that she is anti-vax.
She was at the center of one of Bravo’s biggest controversies
During season 10 of RHOC, Gunvalson found herself at the center of a major controversy. Her then-boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, told her that he’d been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Cast member Meghan King questioned his diagnosis, and Gunvalson vigorously defended him.
Ayers claimed he received treatment at City of Hope in California, and he brought medical documents as proof. Ultimately, though, City of Hope put out a statement saying it “has not provided any cancer treatment to anyone by the name of David Brooks Ayers.”
Ayers ultimately admitted to faking the documents, but maintained that he had cancer. Many fans wondered if Gunvalson helped him fake the documents. She has vehemently denied this.
“First of all, I never had cancer, so how can I fake it?” she said on My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast. “Number two, if somebody faked it that I was with, [then] blame them. I didn’t know one way or the other, so all of you, stop it.”
